Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is time for us to go to God in prayer,
and as always I ask that you joined me. I
am Sherry Mackie. You know I see so many people
hurting and I just want to pray that we will
have compassion. Father, God, in the name of Jesus Christ,
thank you for being our example of love and compassion. God,

(00:20):
we see so many people who are hurting and beaten
down by the cares of life. You are the source
of all tenderness and truth. We come before you with
hearts open and aching, yearning to be vessels of compassion
in a hurting world. God, let us feel the pain
of others not as a weight that breaks us, but

(00:41):
as a sacred invitation to care and love and show
compassion to others. God, where there's sorrow, teach us not
to turn away, Help us to kneel beside the grieving,
to hold the trembling hand of the weary, and to
whisper peace when worlds fall apart in words, fall short. Lord,

(01:02):
break down the walls that even we've built in fear,
those quiet defenses that keep us from seeing the stranger
as our sister or our brother, the enemy as our teacher,
the wounded as Holy, Oh God, give us eyes that
seek understanding and not judgment. Give us ears God that

(01:23):
listen without interruption, a mouth that speaks kindness even when
anger tempts to wound or to fight back. God, if
we got to be strong, let it be in our gentleness.
If we've got us speak truth, God, let it be
lace with mercy and love. If we've got to act,

(01:44):
let it be our hands laid by love and not
pride and ego. May compassion our first language, flouid, full
and fearless. Let it rise in us like a tide
that washes away indifference and heals the broken. God, for
every soul we pass today, the joyful, the loss, the silent,
the loud, let us remember they too carry burdens, burdens

(02:07):
we can't see. Let us greet them, God, not with suspicion,
but with the quiet dignity of shared humanity. God, in
the world so quick to divide, make us a bridge
and a time so rich and noise. God, make us
a still place of refuge for others. God, we surrender

(02:28):
our own egos, our own assumptions, our own uncertainties, that
something greater can rise in us. God, let compassion, Let
your love, let your light shine in us, through us,
every day.
