Today's Word 06-04-25: Be a Friend Like Jesus

It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackie
at his time right now for today's word, be a
friend like Jesus. Luke seven thirty four says the Son
of Man a friend of tax collectors and sinners. You know,
I remember the first time I read the scripture in
John fifteen and fifteen that states I no longer call

(00:22):
you servants, because a servant doesn't know his master's business. Instead,
I've called you friends. For everything I learned from my father,
I've made known to you, y'all. I was so elated
I immediately called my best love, Renee Lee. I was
so excited that he called me friend. But here's the

(00:46):
awesome part. Not only is he our friend, the scripture
today reminds us that Jesus was the friend of sinners too.
He lived as a healer, as a restorer of those
who have backslidden, those that have made mistakes and gotten
off course. Somebody once said, a true friend walks in

(01:10):
when everybody else is walking out. A true friend doesn't
rub it in. When we make a mistake, they rub
it out. I read somewhere that a true friend is
like an umbrella. They don't expose you they cover. You see,
that's exactly what Jesus did, and that's what we should do.

(01:31):
It doesn't mean you overlook wrongs or acts as if
they never happen, but you understand that if it were
not for the grace of God, you too could be
in need of healing and deliverance. When you show mercy
to the guilty, when you encourage the discouraged, when you
lift people up as everybody else is pushing them down,

(01:54):
your actions touch the heart of God in a very
special way, to the knees of those around you. When
you make it your business to befriend and help God's children,
his sons, his daughters by wiping their tears or lifting
them up when they're down, be prepared. You're not only
going to be outrun with the favor, the blessings and

(02:16):
the goodness of God in your life. Oh my goodness,
you're going to make a difference, a lasting impact on
somebody else's life. Father God, thank you for the people
that you placed in our lives and the special role
that you've given us to be a friend like Jesus is.

(02:37):
You are the ultimate example of a true friend. Thank
you that you can take our words of encouragement and
bring healing and renewed strength. Help us to see who
we can befriend and lift up today in Jesus' name. Hey,
now that's your word for today. I want you to
take that. I want you to apply that to your
everyday life and you continue to be encouraging. It is
