of the podcast Waynames Kevin Powell. Hope you had a
great day, great night, great Thanksgiving, you had your phil
If you're like me, you went Black Friday shopping and
spent weight too much money. But we're here now, and
we have a new ish band out of the West
Coast on United States. I'm here with ambulet Emult. How
you guys doing.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
We're doing pretty good?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Help yourself so for.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So good here, if you don't mind, just go ahead,
go around the room, go ahead and introduce yourselves. What
do you guys do in the band?
Speaker 5 (01:19):
I'm Noah, I played.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Drums, I'm Angel, I do vocals, I'm Rito, and I
play a lead guitar.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
And as soon as someone looks up Ambulant, they'll see
my space Deathcore Revival, and I'll tell you what. It's
a thing like people don't understand that, Like people still
love that stuff, and it's I don't know if it's
coming back. I don't know if it ever went away.
I mean sure it didn't, like it wasn't mainstream like
it used to be back in what eighth nine? But yeah,
(01:49):
I would definitely say, you guys have that sound down.
So we got to talk. How'd you guys get started?
What are some of your influences anything like that.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I think how how we got started was pretty much
me and Noah, like we just like we've been friends
forever since, like.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
How hell since I was probably like eleven yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
I was in like fucking seventh eighth grade probably around there,
and like we've just been friends. And then one day,
like I walked in his house like, bro, let's start
a band, and like we just bro. We were playing
like the worst rifts in his room on his electric kit. Bro.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
And then like I had a friend Marcos, and like
I hit him up. I was like, you got a guitarist,
like you know anybody? And then that's when I met Rito.
And then fucking Rito came to jam with us one
time and we made our first song, yeah, first first day,
yeah without no too oh yeah yeah without Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:39):
We were playing like like trying to make metalchort but
it kind of sounded an emo violency.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
But we've got it better.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Every band has like their first song or the first
few songs that no one's ever gonna hear besides you guys.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, it's always like, ah, man, what were we thinking?
But you know it's fine, bro.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
Yeah, it's always like what are we thinking?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Got find that song?
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Probably, but at the time you were like, oh, this
is the best thing ever. Get ready we're about to
take no kidding. So so how about some of your
influences you know what what my space death coore bands
kind of shape your sound.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
Bring Me, Bring Me the Horizon, like first EP and
first album is really important to me. We are really
obsessed with like Suicide Silence, like from like be like
their demos they're the cleansing, like especially the Family Guy demo.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
That one's like super important to.
Speaker 7 (03:40):
Yeah, especially with like Rick Ash and like that original
like well, I guess it's not the original lineup, but
like the important lineup in my opinion, you know, like
it's that was It's just really important to us and
to like our sound.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
Yeah, like the first Bring Me the Rise and EP,
especially when you're still doing like super metal core inspired stuff,
that was really what I and like cu Space Cowboy
was also super important to what I was writing. And
then now yeah, like Suicide talents like Alex Lopez drumming
it's crazy, uh heard of my my rise sick uh Whitechapel.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Honestly, I let these guys handle the music really like
I always give them my input on what sounds good.
But like I guess, like if we're talking like vocals,
I guess like vocalists, I get a lot of my
like like energy from hell of It its bro.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
I watched like hell of Mitz Lucker.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
I'm like, bro, he just looks like he has like
hell of power when he's like when he was up there. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yeah, there's a reason why he had an entire memorial
show and I wish I could have.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Went to that.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
But you know, we miss you, but absolutely.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Hey it's Angela Ma's Ante from Nowhere Fast and you're
listening to the Kevin Powell podcast.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
So you guys have an EP out right now, it's
a self title EP. Why don't you tell me about
how you guys went into writing recording this and you
know the reception after it came out.
Speaker 6 (05:09):
That's pretty tough.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
Yeah, writing was probably the hardest part because we were
still doing like, okay, so we want like metalcore and
then we're Angel was like all right, we want like
we want to be heavier, and I was like I
still kind of want to be melodic. So we're having
this kind of like small thing where like Angel was
influencing the heaviness and I wanted to kind of stay
melodic still, so we're doing like melodic devcord, you know,
(05:32):
like kind of like like what's that one?
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Like?
Speaker 7 (05:35):
As Blood Runs Black and all that okay, right, for
like I would say like about a month and then
what I don't know. I think I heard maybe Reverend
play like a newer song that they haven't.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Released yet, and I really liked it.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
And then I was like, Okay, my angels convinced me,
and now like I kind of want to write heavy.
So we had two songs that are really old that
are on the e P. Yeah, because yeah, sometimes that
is better is pretty old.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Too, Yeah, it's not as a Cowboys is like yeah,
Cowboys is like probably the third song we've written, but
it was super different.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Bro.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
Yeah, we was like these songs for like ever.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
Yeah, yeah, that song is like really old, but like
we kind of rewrote it in a way, especially because
when we want to go record it, we weren't happy
with it. And then like the the producer was like, hey,
why didn't you try this?
Speaker 4 (06:31):
And we loved it.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yeah, shout out Noah. Shout out Noah from Reverend.
Speaker 7 (06:35):
He helped us a lot with that song and like
with in general, yeah, with just the EP in general,
he's like an amazing like dude. No, So I just
wrote like the other two like demos, the other three
demos that we just didn't have. And then I was like, okay, guys,
like let's just mat let's just like fix these up together.
And that's that's just how it went. I just came
(06:56):
up with some demos and then Noah came up with
literally all the drum parts. He did all the like
really amazing ship that he does, and then Angel Angel
sings really good. He also he the only the only
issue that we had with like the EP was we
didn't know if to do the the call out on
the second song, like you dumb fucking bitch, like we
(07:18):
oh yeah, Angel do it?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
At first, like you know, I just wanted to go
into the breakdown like like a crazy ass low but
like they're like, no, dude, everybody likes you.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
You just do it.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
He did it one yeah, did it live And then
I was like fire, So yeah that's that part.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
And how about the reception after EP came out?
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (07:47):
Yeah, I think like the first two three days because
this your kid messed us up.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Everyone's favorite.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
It like released on.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Like Instagram, on like on like TikTok, and I'm like
and like what.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
Else that was it? It was on like every YouTube
music and YouTube.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Yeah, before it was on Spotify, so like Apple Music
even no, it wasn't know what I'm saying, it wasn't
on Spotify.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
The two people like the first two days or.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Three days, it was like like.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Bro, hopefully this doesn't flop.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
But like once it popped up on Spotify, bro, it
went like it started going up, so it was show
it was blessed.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, did you guys know that it wasn't on Spotify
and Apple like day one?
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Yeah, We're like, bro, Like I was like every single second,
I was like searching Ambulet out.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
I was gonna say the PR the PR disaster had
been like, hey, guys, we got a new song out
right now, whole new EP. Go check it out on
Spotify and Apple Music. And everyone's like where and you're
like what.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Do you mean?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
It nowhere?
Speaker 2 (08:54):
But good. I'm glad it came out. I'm glad you
guys got a positive reception. Scrolling through any of your socials,
you'll see that you guys have been playing show and
show and show. How is it out there on the
West coast. I'm over on the East coast, so I
I have no idea what it's like out there, So
why don't you tell me about a little bit about
your music scene, if you have any shout outs anything
like that.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
It's it's bro.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Like over here in like Riverside and like La Pomona
Fontana all these like everywhere we be playing, everybody has
a lot of energy, Like the pits are always nice,
like like every there were always taking care of like
for real, like it's show.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
It's always good.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
And like all the bands we play with, like our
good friend's kid like scythe Real, Yeah, those are all
our good friends, reverent like all playing with all of them.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
It's all just like it's fun. Bro, It's like really fun.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Like I wish like everybody on like the West Coast,
that's what ye's yeah.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
Right, I'm on the Yeah, I wish everybody over there
could like see this and experience this because this is
like it's it's it's it's yeah, it's good time.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
And it's warmer. So yeah yeah, Okay, So what do
you guys really want to accomplish with the band? I mean,
I know everybody's everybody wants to make a million dollars
and play with all their favorite bands blah blah blah
blah blah, But like, what do you guys specifically think, Okay,
we're going into twenty twenty five, what are we doing.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
We kind of want to drop more music already. Yeah,
we have been.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
We have been writing, and they sound a lot more
different than our EP songs. Oh yeah, they sound very
different from our EP songs, you know, and we're kind
of excited for that.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
With a new sound direction that we're going.
Speaker 7 (10:36):
It's a little bit more old school, a little bit
more older than we're already sounding. Really, we're trying to
be really brutal. We're trying to like step it up
a little bit and still be able to have like fun,
still be able to do that and like take our
friends where we want to like go with them too,
you know, because we also want.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
To do a tour. Oh yeah, we want to do
a tour. We might do that this year hopefully.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
I think is we're gonna plan on touring for sure.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
I think we got enough, Like what did we say,
We're like if we get to like four thousand followers,
we're almost there. So like if we get to four
thousand world tour like and see what happens from there.
But like we're definitely gonna work out work on putting
out more music for sure, like soon we really want
more music out for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
That so, what would be your dream tour? It could
be any band that either isn't playing anymore, is still
playing big, small, up down whatever.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Bro, number one, you just have Silence. I'll tell you
that off the bat, like for sure, I want to
tell you, Bro, like my good ass friend's kid, Bro,
I love those guys, definitely, I would.
Speaker 7 (11:51):
Want to, Like, Bro, who are some like crazy who
are some crazy bands?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Molly, honestly we get into.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Okay like me personally, Like I would love to do
a tour with Orchid. You know they're back, They're back, Bro,
I would Bro, I want to go to that show.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Yeah, we wanted.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
I want to do a tour with Orchid one day,
Orchid Suicide, Silence maybe just maybe like Carnifix because Carnifix
is also like they're really clean and they're like also
like they also inspire me a little bit too, So
like it would be really cool to take those dudes out.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Chelsea Grin for sure, but like og, like.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Not like you want to do og Chelsea Grin or
Alex's new band.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Now that's.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Just because Bro, I watched all their videos and like, dude,
they look cool.
Speaker 7 (12:49):
Oh yeah, that's kind of where we get the crabbing from.
It's from like them, like, you know, like they have
like really good crabbing style.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
That's what I like.
Speaker 7 (12:57):
We're Oh attack attack o ga attack attack not modern
attack attack Yeah yeah, yeah, the one with like are
you wanting with like Arstin Austin Carlisle? Yeah, you want
Austin car.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Every night?
Speaker 7 (13:14):
Yeah, they gotta do this. Sunday came suddenly like reunion tour.
We love, we love every band honestly them.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I talked to Andrew from Attack Attack and I don't know,
I think I don't know what they play now. I mean,
I know they play a lot of newer stuff, which
I but I'm with you guys. Someday came suddenly. Second album.
Those two hold a special place in my heart. But
you know, things happen and they're still going, and I'm
very happy that they're still going and I still love you.

to the Kevin Powell Podcast.
Speaker 6 (14:10):
Our new album Freaking Out is out now.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Right now, I'm talking to the band Amulet. They're a
MySpace death Corp, a kind of ish band out of
the West Coast in the United States. Now, Amulet, we
talked about your beginnings, We talked about twenty twenty five.
We talked about MySpace death Corp, which is one of
my favorite things ever. Have you guys heard of the
band Crucifixion.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Is that that dude were Salem Beck Is that you
have to be a blood bath?
Speaker 2 (14:33):
I'm doing a subtle hint to Costly a new Yeah, Yeah,
I love that year.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
That album came out what a month and a half,
two months ago, and it's so good, really good.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
It's pretty fucking good.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Bro.
Speaker 7 (14:47):
You know you know that one song that I put
on where it's like, bro, Andel, I think you could
do vocals like this from oh like like really high
heighs And then I brought up Diotter's murdered.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
That's Bloodbeither. That's the new band. That's their new band
because something happened with bloodb I don't know what happened.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
But I don't know either, but we'll find out next time. No,
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
I don't know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
I will talk to him at some point. What advice
would you guys have or any band now? I asked
this question to all bands I talk to towards the
end of my interviews. Whether it be veterans or just
starting out or they have a little bit of experience,
every answer I get is different. So for you guys,
what advice would you give the bands are either just
(15:27):
starting out or want to continue moving forward in their career.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Be great friends with your bandmates before making music. It
really helps you, guys, collab and make music a lot.
Like being friends with this guy like helped like make
music a lot really easy.
Speaker 5 (15:48):
Just practice, bro, Like I feel like a big thing
that made us. Like even if you go back to
our first live show, like the music's not that good,
but like I think we're really like just like glued together.
We have practiced every day for like a two or
three months, Bro, just like grinding and yeah, and also
(16:08):
just like be friends with everybody. Like I feel like
we wouldn't even get out half the shows we get
on if we weren't just like cool with everybody else
in our scene.
Speaker 7 (16:18):
Yeah, that's kind of like my like, I really love
like just supporting the rest of the scene. I'm always
shouting out fans. I'm always I'm always shouting out bands.
I'm always giving like other bands props for like what
they do, because I think a lot of people in
our scene are really talented. Like Kip is really good,
especially Diego and William Alex Sergio. Yeah, Kip Dynamite, searched
(16:43):
them up, searched them up. Kip Dynamite fucking great, dudes, man,
really good. You know, Ashes at Last, Like they're just
really nice to us and they play like some of
the best.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Crap core that you're ever gonna hear.
Speaker 7 (16:59):
Bro, They're energy is great, you know, like just like
giving people just giving people love, you know, it helps
when you give people love, they love you back.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
And I have to move forward.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Now you say that, and I hope people hear that
and go, yeah that makes sense. It doesn't make sense
to everybody. I don't understand why. It's like the easiest
thing to do. Be nice, be friends, help people. Hey
are you carrying in all your gear and I'm just
standing around, I might ask need help. Bro, boy, that's
gonna make their day. Just small stuff like that just
goes a very long way. It's the best attitude to have.
(17:35):
And with that attitude, I can see you guys going
as far as you want to go. Now when I
get to the end here, where can people follow you
on socials?
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Give me the amulate underscore on Instagram or amulate like
on Spotify?
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Very easy to find, actually, bro, No like old old
old old old.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Bands named Ambulet, which is kind of sad.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, well, don't worry. I'll link people in this to
the right one. It's no words, yes, any final words
you guys want to say to friends, family, fans, anything.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
Thank you so much for having real Yeah, it was
really a blessing that being in.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
He shout out Roman and Jack there the other members
of our band. They couldn't they couldn't make it today.
Our bass this another I meant to shut them out forever.
Good I forgot.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
Jack and Roman are guitarists and bassist Goats, but yeah,
they couldn't make it.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
Yeah, shout out, shout out them, shout out everybody. That's
how it does get where we are right now, you know,
because I mean we technically have only been playing shows
and like letting people hear us for like four months. Yeah,
and people like like us as much. Like it's surreal
for like us, and this is like just the beginning.
So you know, we're trying to get out there, We're
(19:01):
trying to have fun.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
I do appreciate a little bit of your time today.
I'm gonna talk to you here in a second off air.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
Okay, all right, yeah, thank you so much. Broman, thank you,
no problem.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
So that's Amulet. They're based out of Riverside. You gotta
check them out. If you're a big fan of bands
like Suicide, Silence, All Shall Perish, Carnifacts, any of those
og deathcore bands. Well, these are guys are right up
your alley. They got a self titled EP out right now.
They got all kinds of plans for twenty twenty five.
Thanks for checking out this episode of the podcast. We'll
see you next time.
