Speaker 1 (00:02):
Uplifting, encouraging and powerful.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's time for Mother's Message on Philly's Power ninety nine.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
All right, so let's keep it real.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
There's a lot of people out here that are angry,
they are upset, they are confrontational. So I want you
to know just because you're invited into an argument doesn't
mean you have to participate. I always preach this that
your peace of mind is important. Don't give it up
(00:34):
every time wants to argue. I know it's hard, but
you got to learn how to take the u turn.
Ask yourself how important is this? Is it even aportant
enough for me to give up my serenity? If not,
I walk away or change the subject because I just
don't got no time. Like, are you serious? M I
(00:59):
know how to make that utibe. Just because someone throws
you the ball doesn't mean you have to catch it.
Choose your battles wisely. There are some worth fighting for
for sure. Be sure it's worth it before you dig in.
And that's my message. Two one five, two six three
sixty six ninety nine. Guys, way in, I mean, do
(01:22):
we need to Yes, you want to go straight to
the phone.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
I mean no, I'm just saying I mean, it's pretty
self explanatory when it comes to me and how I
feel about it. We all we talk about it all
the time. You know, you got to pick your battle.
Sometimes you don't have to fight every battle. I don't
fight every batty.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
That's the last time you ran into someone that was confrontational.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
And you mother and rocks.
Speaker 5 (01:44):
With the day of social media, everyone's confrontational, okay. You know,
every everyone wants to wants to face fight with you
on social media and wants to go back and forth
with you. Someone always wants to get a rise out
of you. And you know, I was, you know, I
was Twitter fingers for a few years. I would, especially
around Powerhouse time, I would get copy. But listen, it's
too much energy, it's too much time out of my day.
(02:05):
Like I found myself at one point obsessed with it,
going back to look at comments, thinking about things to say,
you know, going back and forth with three four people
at the same time. I'm not doing all that. I
got better things I could be doing with my time.
Time is valuable and you can never get it back.
So I'm I'm not going back and forth with you.
It's gonna have to be a very special argument or
fight for me to engage. I tell you that right now.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I know that's right.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
Well, you know, I think it's easy for us to
say that. But I think for some people that is
a learned behavior. There are some people that just don't
have the discipline to stop themselves. It's like the minute
that something, you know, the minute that somebody tries them,
the minute that you know they feel that little nudge,
they're already at one hundred and they ready to start,
(02:50):
you know, throwing hands or whatever it is. So I
think for some people it is a learned behavior. Some
people need to take it a step further and potentially
even go to therapy, you know what I mean. There
are some people, you know, thankfully, that can calm themselves
down and can say, Okay, this ain't worth it.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I'm just gonna walk away.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
But don't you think you learned that with maturity? Yes,
I did, because I used to be on the other side.
Maybe give a bitch the business, ready to drag someone,
ready to be all up in your face. But I'm
older now, I'll be fifty this year. I don't have
the time, I don't have the energy. So when you
know better, you do better.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Maybe maybe it does come with maturity.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
I don't really know, to be honest with you, I
think that for some people it does. But it could
or or it's or it's the simple fact that there
are some people that just never mature.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
But on the flip side, let me just say this,
and we talked about this yesterday. Just because I'm pushing fifty,
don't poke the bear. I think people think because you
changed or you are of a certain age, you're sweet
and it's choice.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
And they keep pushing and pushing.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Back up because then you want to see a side
you don't want to see. It's gonna take me a
lot not to go there, but I can.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah, it's still ain't It's still in me. I got
a little bit still left in me to give a
bit to that business. Right, No, rocks, don't you think
you know?
Speaker 5 (04:07):
The red hair twenty five, twenty six, twenty seven year
old rocks that will pop her tongue and swearve her
neck and then that trinny blood will start boiling is
a lot different than the Roxy.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Now, that's one mature.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Well, the Roxy now does still want red hair, if
I'm being honest with you.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
But aside from the red hair.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
Yeah, absolutely, because who I was when I was in
college versus now is a very different person.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
I mean I would blow the roof off the house.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
Yeah, you know when it like if I was in
a relationship, Like I remember being in a relationship and
we argued all the time, and I would blow the
roof off the house. I would not let him talk.
I'm screaming my head off, like, and I don't do
that anymore, right, I mean, I really am very very calm,
and it's like if I'm not calm, it happens once
(04:55):
in a blue moon, and I got to check myself
and bring myself back.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
But at the end of the day, I see it
all the time.
Speaker 6 (05:01):
I mean, with these stories that surface in this city,
people pulling out guns. Yes, a lot of it is
young people, but some of it is nine.
