(00:00):
All right, tan Angelina here onthe New hit List on iHeart Radio,
bringing you the hottest songs and artiststhat are blowing up, Like this guy
right here, David, what's goingon? Oh? We knowing? I'm
good, We're I'm doing good.You had a show last name I did.
I did it back to back showsin Texas. A little tired,

(00:20):
Nah, not at all. Iwon't do another one. We've been running
your song feel like Crazy on theNew hit List. We were playing you
a little early though, and I'mlike, am I saying this guy's name
right? Explain the poor in yourname for me? Okay? So basically,
like I play a lot of videogames, and like I put numbers
in every name I've ever had playingthe game. When I was like doing

(00:42):
music and stuff, all my kindof just took that and transferred it over
to my artist's name. And Iwas like thinking, the four my name
could probably be four characters that I'mkind of putting into this music just to
kind of expand it, like waybeyond like the service level music stuff.
Because my fans are like gamers andfans and like they like complex, weird
stories. So right now, Igot two characters that are for me,

(01:06):
and then the main antagonist Tommy, who wears like the bloody shirt and the
blind boat and like my music videosand on stage and stuff like that.
And so I don't know what thenext two character is gonna be, but
hopefully I'll figure it out soon.So that's so dope that you were able
to do that with because if peopledon't know you know, they're just getting
hip to you. You were likebig in the gaming wrong yeah, sper

(01:29):
like to make that pivot to music. My mom actually playing four nine to
call Duty since twenty seventeen, andthen I was making videos on YouTube,
like with my gameplay, and thenI would put people's music in the videos,
but it wasn't royalty free. Itwas like his music just in ne
all that. And then I stoppedmaking money and I told my mom about

(01:51):
it. I was like, Yo, I'm not making money off YouTube anymore.
What do I do? And shewas like, how about you just
make your own song? Get outof my face, make your own music.
And I was like, I don'twant no studio. I'm gonna do
that. I look up on Googlehow to make and this ap called band
that comes up, and I makemy first song. I think it was
December twenty, like a couple daysbefore Christmas. And then next month I

(02:14):
messed around, mastered the craft ofmusic on the phone. I was making
everything in my little Sisters that wasmy studio. She was the only one
in the house with a walk incloset. Made my second song, and
then everything started blowing up again. And then yeah, now we're here.
That's insane making and nick music onyour phone. Mm hmmm hmm, that's

(02:36):
wild like straight bangers. I lovelike you said, like you're using scissors
music because that's when I first gothim to you. I went to this
as a concert and you're opening upand I was like, who the hell
is this kid? Because you hadit lit like I was like, I
was like, yeah, yeah, this was crazy. And honestly, that
was like top three tour for melast year. There was a lot of
dope tours, like her production wasinsane crazy. I took so many notes,

(03:00):
so many notes, man, andyou're amazing song. I mean we're
going to get into that. Iwant to talk about says for a little
bit, like getting that call, how did that all come about? Getting
to open up for her? Imean it was like it was like a
whole lot of fingers crossed waiting, just like waiting, waiting, waiting,
manifesting it man, because she hadcode signed me a couple months prior on

(03:20):
Billboard. If she did the Billboardand when she shout me out and then
we got the email, it wasn'teven a call, it was an email,
so it was like you on now, And I was like, who
was I think I was recording thesong at the time. When we got
the call, I was like,yo, we open up and get ready,
had your bag. It's like, let's go see. It was so
sick. It was so sick.Did you develop a good relationship with her,

(03:42):
val Yeah, she's like such aninspiration and so like I don't know,
it's like almost the student and theteacher kind of because she had so
much experience in his music thing andjust like all the years and experience,
and she showed me so much wisdomon how to be a better artist and
just being true to yourself, becauseit's like really easy. You have a
unique sound that you have and peoplelove you for that, but then a

(04:05):
trend who blindside you to what youshould be doing. So it's like there's
a time and a place for everything, and she showed me that it's just
important to wait, like it's soimportant to wait, and she's done an
amazing job of just waiting for theright time every time she drop music.
I feel like that's the perfect mentorfor you too, because her pen is
crazy and so is yours. Iwant to talk about the songwriting for a

(04:28):
little bit because you're only seventeen yearsold. I turned nineteen this year,
Tete. It is all good gettingolder, still still so young, and
I'm like listening to the lyrics inyour music and I'm just like, has
he been through so much life?Like how do you even get the inspiration
for these songs? That's that's thething about me too. People keep asking
me that people like you have anold soul. It's like, you know,

(04:50):
I was homeschool since eighth grade,so I didn't leave the house for
like five years, and I waslike in the crib playing video game every
single day. But the thing iswith me is like I've wrote in poetry
since I was in fifth grade,so I kind of lived my life vicariously
through people. So when I'm gettingon the game and I'm talking to like

(05:12):
random people, every day, everyhour. It's like they're venting to me.
Because everybody in this gaming community goesto gaming to escape reality. So
it's like you would meet so manypeople with different life struggles, like they
just broke up with the earl, like they just went through so much life.
And I'm kind of writing songs aboutother people's life, and I think
that's why it makes it so relatablein the music, because it's like,
I'm not even writing about me,so it could touch people in different areas

(05:35):
of their lives that they're going throughthe same thing because I wrote it about
somebody else. So and it getexcused to keep gaming, like, hey,
this is what my experience exactly.I gotta do, especially like songs
like this is how it feels likeI'll be ready to cry my eyes out
to that one. Your EP pedalsto Thorns, So dope, where did

(05:57):
you get the title for that EP? So I'm a sess with roses for
some reason, like I've always beenobsessed with white roses. I feel like
it's like the opposite of what therose symbolizes romance, and then when something
gets drained of all this energy,it kind of turns pale. So It's
like the white rose represents the absenceof romance for me, and the rose
also symbolizes like getting hurt by beautifulthings because the rose is like one of

(06:18):
the most prettiest flowers, but Ihave thorns on it, so when you
try to pick it up, youget hurt by it. So I wanted
people to listen to the project andfeel like, oh, it's cool,
it's beautiful, like the music, the production, everything, but then you
listen to the lyrics and it's like, oh, it's really hurtful words,
you know. So I like contrastsin my music a lot, and I
think I hite it on and nowwith that project. So I love how

(06:41):
like calculated and detailed you are inyour work too. I have to be
yeah, because it's like his Especiallymy fans too, they don't like they
don't get certain things unless it's donea certain way. And I've been in
the gaming community and the make communityfor so long, so that's the really
the people I care to the most. It's kind of like expanding now my
target audience. So it's it's gettingI like to think through a lot of

(07:03):
things beforehand, kind of foreshadow itand stuff. So man, that's so
dope. Talk let me talk.Talk to me about the inspiration of feel
It because I didn't even know thatwas from a TV show. Yeah,
yeah, show. It's such adope record, mand And like I hear
it everywhere. I mean, we'replaying it on the show when I'm scrolling

(07:23):
on TikTok and I'm scrolling on Instagram. So did you expect it to blow
up the way it is? BecauseI feel like not even. I mean,
don't, guy, You're on ashow like that's kind of like borderline.
I made it, you know, that's a big step. Yeah,
for it to be like it's oldthing for so many people, Like a
lot of people don't even associate itwith the show, you know what I
mean. So what does that meanto you? It means the world.
I mean, like we've been I'vebeen talking with my team about this invisible

(07:46):
thing since like last year. Itwas so crazy two years ago, not
even and it was just such amanifestation that happened because I'm such a big
fan of anime and like anything animatedand superheroes and everything around that. So
then we talked to the music supervisorabout it, and he was so open
to the idea of me writing asong for it, and I really I

(08:07):
made the song in thirty minutes too. I saw the scene and I made
the song in thirty minutes the nextday. But like, yeah, it's
just it's just cool to see howa show has its fan base and then
they're gonna they're gonna ride for everysingle song, every single soundtrack, every
single merch, like they're just lovewith that that community for the show.

(08:28):
But then it also goes past thatand people that don't even know that it
came from the show is body withit too. So I feel like that's
how you know the music is connectingfor real, because it's not just the
soundtrack. It's not this song thateverybody knows. So yeah, and you
like start thinking about the song differentely, like maybe it meant one thing,
and then you go watch the showand you're like, oh, this is
is. Yeah. I love whenmusic has different meanings. I mean,

(08:50):
like music is so subjective, it'sall up to interpretation. So that's that's
the beauty of it, to behonest and crazy, you do that in
thirty minutes from watching the scene. Is that something you want to get more
win scores? Like for a movieeven you know, Yeah, I want
to score everything I want to get. I wanted everything. I mean,
that's where I came from. Likemaking music for my four Dinmond sizes was
basically me scoring things. So Ifeel like that's what I'm That's what I'm

(09:11):
the best at now that I thinkabout it. If I'm writing for something
in mind, it's like way betterthan if I'm just writing for myself.
And even songwriting, is there anyonelike you wish to write a song for.
I don't want to write a songfor Beyondso I know she got she
got her rock album coming out soon, so I'm trying to get in there,
and I'm trying to get some rockvibes for her because is that confirmed

(09:35):
that it's rock? It's a rockalbum, I think, so next year
she'll be rock album. So that'sif I could get in there. Yeah,
bro, that'd be that'd be sofire. Hm, you gotta see
you do something from Beyonce? Butdid you are you gonna cop ticket to
the tour if she announces it soon? Of course I went to the last
one. I was blown away,like I almost cried, Like I don't

(09:56):
cry it so I do not cryso. But she had that on the
Drunken Love Run that bro oh,it was so good. It was like
the biggest party too, I feellike and then like the just happened a
tank like I don't know that wasit was crazy. Do you have a

(10:16):
favorite song on Kewboy Carter? Oh, I think the one was shou Boozy.
It's a really underrated one. Yeah, that's what got me hip to
him too. I was like andthen blowing up, Yeah, it's crazy.
It's crazy. Bodyguard got to bemy favorite though Bodyguards vibe. It's

(10:37):
between that one and the one.Like with her, like even Renaissance,
I'd be having like new favorite songslike from when I first. She got
a lot of music. It's crazy. So tell me what's next for you
because we're still running feeling like crazyon the show. You're on your own
tour like from opening. Tell meabout the tour experience. First tour experience

(10:58):
is crazy. I mean, likeI finally I did five tours last year.
I did three headlines, then Iwent on tours. Sister. I
was gonna do a full age ofRun two in December, but I got
sick when Chakagos, so I hadto cancel the rest of it. Yeah,
this tour is really is really justme like just having fun. Now
I'm not pressuring myself too much.I was in my head so much on
the last tours I was on.It was like, but if I don't

(11:22):
sound good, or if they don'tknow the songs, like it's been a
long enough time where it's like myfans gonna they got me regardless, So
I don't need to think too muchtime. I'm good the show is because
the show is great, Like wewe spent so much time being the setlist
and building like the transitions and everything, like, I don't have to worry
about none of that. No moreis so exactly and it's all out,

(11:43):
so I don't got to worry aboutseeing nobody at the back trying to worry
how to feel that space, knowwhat I'm saying. Yeah, but it's
great. It's great. I likethat that was your vibe this year,
Like you know what, I'm aboutto just enjoy this because yeah, it
just loose. It's very loose. All right, Well, what's next for
you? What can fans expect?A lot more music? Dropping a song
very very soon too, songs veryvery soon. The album rollout. I'm

(12:05):
making my first album ever. It'sreally hard to make it. I ain't
know how hard it was to makean album, but I'm almost there.
I feel like, especially for you, for all, like how calculated you
are. I'm sure you're like,it's got to do that again, or
this don't work so much, somuch, restarted so much we started.
It's my second time like revamping itand like getting the vibe right because someone's

(12:26):
going on in music and you don'twant to like make something that sounds dated
by the time it comes out.So I'm just trying to evolve and go
crazy. But a lot more musiccoming out, a lot more touring,
So look out for me in thecity near you, because the tickets are
going to go fast. Yeah,I'm so excited you. I mean literally
from making music in a closet onyour iPhone to headline in your own tour

(12:48):
that's sold out. It's insane.I love that you were hanging out with
Will Smith at Cochella. By theway, Yeah, that's the goat.
I still need to see the newBad Boys. I'm so mad. That's
like a spoil it. Yeah,go go, you saw it, you
saw it. It's insane, It'sinsane. Bad Voice three was the funniest

(13:09):
one. But this one had likethe best story, like character arcs,
and I'm a big like storyteller,so I really like the story of this
one for sure. Like me andmy found we could quote Bad Boys to
like word for words. I rememberone three K like I hope they don't
mess it up and like we lovedit. Yeah. Yeah, what's your
top three Will Smith movies? Oh? I am legend first, Pursue the

(13:31):
Happiness second and The Bad Boys three? Third? Really you over two?
Yeah? Not that three? Yeah? Because you know, like I'm young,
so it's like maybe I got torewatch them all again. But when
I've seen that movie, maybe itwas like maybe what was I thirteen?
Fourteen something like that, and I'mjust addicted to action, so like the

(13:54):
accent, I'm too, but thatwas too a special And you know what
I'm what I'm expressing for you,is you doing an next Will Smith movie?
Like The Score That's Happened and Beyoncecome out and it's a wrap,
all right, Well, thanks somuch for hanging out. And next time

(14:16):
you're in the city or in theBay, you gotta come to the station.
I got you. Come on,let's do it all right, have
a good one. Thank you, thank you, you too.
