(00:00):
This is the new hit list.I have the beautiful Sophia Carson with us.
How are you? I'm so good, how are you beautiful? Good
to see you, I mean straightfrom Paris with us great live from a
radio station in Paris. Fancy youlook amazing as always. Thank you too.
We're in stutters, both of us. Thank you. I know it's
like finally getting cold. You know, I'm in California, so it's like,
(00:23):
yeah, the bad weather, butthis totally yeah. First expers,
congratulations becoming what was it, aGlobal Advocate of the Year. Thank you
that was surreal. Thank you somuch. That's huge. And I know
you've done your work with YUNISAF,but like I always admired your dedication to
girls, women children around the world. What is the message that you really
(00:46):
want to stress or are focusing onthis year In that work, my focus
has always been girls' education and justspreading the word because I think it's you
know, we live in a worldwhere there's so much happening, you know,
so many crises happening all at once, and I just don't want us
to shy away from the need toeducate our girls around the world, because
(01:07):
an education is so much more thangoing to school. These four walls and
these books truly saved their lives ina really in a really powerful way.
So that'll be my will always bemy mission. Yes, I love it.
Also loved you and Purple Hearts, thank you amazing. Is I think
that you learned from Cassie and justlike you're working on that film in general
(01:32):
about yourself. Yeah, absolutely.I was really scared going into that film.
It was, you know, mymost kind of dramatic and intense role.
And also I was wearing a lotof hats as you know, the
lead producer and writing the music forit, and it just kind of felt,
(01:52):
you know, when the voice inyour head gets the best of you
and it's like who said that youcould do this? And I was terrified
a week before and my mom toldme that everything we want is on the
other side of fear. And asI was becoming passie, like Cassie is
so tremendously fearless, like she's notscared of of anything or of anyone,
and I think it reminded me ofthe fearlessness that I had in myself in
(02:15):
a really beautiful way. That wasgood advice to your mom. I have
to write that one down. That'sa good one. Yeah, she's amazing.
I mean it's so successful, anumber one soundtrack, and it's like
history. Yes, should be crazygrasane. I think we need one more.
Do you think we'll get a purpleHearts too? I have a good
feeling, but I can't. Ican't confer every tonight. Okay, I'm
(02:38):
passing your instincts. And right now, you have a really really beautiful song
out. I hope you knowed you. I love how emotional you are on
this record. So let's let's getinto it. What is this one about?
Love? You know what it meansto fall in love? Into love
(03:00):
feels like? And you know,I've always loved music that can kind of
capture an emotion, you know, like when you listen to a song,
it feels like what love feels like, or what heartbreak feels like. And
to me, this song, whenI sing it and when I listen to
it, it feels like the musicalmanifestation of loving someone. And yeah,
(03:21):
that's what. It's a very vulnerablesong and just a really emotional and impersonal
record. So I'm happy to shareit with the world. So what made
I hope you know, become thefirst single for you. I have always
been a storyteller, as fans whohave been on this journey with me now,
and I like telling stories in order, which doesn't always necessarily happen in
(03:46):
music, you know, when youwrite a record. But this just felt
like the first one because it's thebeginning of love. I've entitled it Act
one the Fall because to me,you know, in love with someone is
truly like you know, falling andhoping to God that they catch you.
So that's why this one felt likethe first and I think also it seemed
(04:10):
like the kind of song the worldcould use a little bit of right now.
I think we could always use alittle bit more love, and this
song is just filled with that.So the Act won the Fall. Would
you say, are you stepping intolike a new era? Are we in
our soft girl era right now?Yeah? You know, the thing is,
it's a beautiful thing about this newera I guess we can call it
(04:31):
is that this is the most meanybody would have ever seen or heard ever.
And you know, the music industryis a complicated business, and sometimes
you try to do what people sayis the you know, the thing that
will sell while not losing yourself, and you start to lose yourself along the
(04:54):
way a little bit. And thenall of last year was such a year
of validation for me from Purple Hearts, you know, writing that music and
that music doing what it did,to the Oscar nomination of me singing a
ballad at the Oscar stage, allmusic that has always been who I am,
and then to feel like, ohmy god, that's enough. People
(05:14):
connected to that more than anything I'vedone, was like the switch in my
mind where I was like, Iknow exactly what I have to do.
I just have to write what's inme here. So this is this era
is just truly Sophia. I lovegetting raw, emotional Sofia and I feel
like we joke like that soccro era. But it's hard to be all those
things terrifying. I wouldn't lie toyou if I told you a few months
(05:38):
ago, you know that I wassecond guessing all of this because it was
so scary. We're ready for it. I have to do it as one
of the fall. Do we havea release date yet? Well, we
have the first single, and that'sall I can say. Okay, and
you know I'm not in love atall. I'm super single, but I
can't wait to like be builtying thissong in crime at one of your shows.
(06:00):
Yeah. Yeah, I've expect atour in the future. Absolutely absolutely.
I love singing live, I loveperforming live and most of all,
connecting with fans through music. There'ssomething so special about music and that you
know, we write this music aboutsomething so specific that happens to each of
us, and that you release itinto the world and it means something so
specific to you, like you hearyour story in it, or they hear
(06:23):
their story in it, and it'sit's such a powerful thing. That's amazing.
While I'm going to keep playing,I hope you know and cry my
eyes out to it. Is thereanything please do? Fans? Well you
have an in store for the future. Oh, just that I hope they
know how deeply I love them andhow grateful I am that they are,
you know, seeing me and embracingmy heart in this music, and then
(06:44):
I love them very much. Amazing. Well, thanks so much for hopping
on with us. Thanks Angelina,Good to see you, Good to see you.
