Speaker 1 (00:00):
Blair, do you want Meghan's location for Saint Patrick's Day
weekend because secretly you want to live vicariously through her
because you miss your party days.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
No, I love my bed and I love my sleep
and I just cannot wait to sleep this weekend.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
So then why do you want to follow Meghan's location?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Because I want to just like know what she's doing vicarious.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
But can you just ask me, like, Megan, are you
guys having fun? And I'm feel like, yeah, we're doing
this and that.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
But Meghan, like you and I have a very unique
texting relationship because like I'll text you and I know
like sometimes it's going to take two hours to get
a response that I don't want to have to wait
two hours. So I want to know what bar you're
at soga now? Is she eating cheese sticks? Is she
eating chips and queso along with her green beer? Like
I gotta be able to look up the menu see
what's going on, and then you know what for future
(00:46):
purposes when g I Joe wants to propose, I'm going
to need to know your location to like help plan that.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Meghan is your worry of giving Blair your location is
that she'll be too involved.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
I don't want Blair to know that I'm not headed
towards the places I need to be with Blair when
I tell her I'm on my way, That's what I
don't want. And if I give her my location, I
will forget about it and I won't know.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
She has my location, and I'll be like.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Oh, yeah, you know, I'm busy right now.
Speaker 6 (01:16):
Sorry, I have a bunch of these errands to do
and I just can't find her outfit. And then she'll
be like, you're watching Vampire Diaries again.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Sorry, Glair, it doesn't seem like you're gonna get the
location this weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Giving you all the warm fuzzies and whatnot. It's the
good good.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
On the Spencer Grave Show, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Been a while since those wildfires in southern California.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Well, one woman.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Is so excited today her cat finally came home after
months of being out in the wild.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Oh my gosh, that is so sweet that cat made
its way home, like Lassie.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
And what a surprise, because I'm honestly she was probably thinking.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
The world's worst.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
The cat was found severely malnourished, but was able to
get back to the property. No house to go into
because they were demolished by the fires. But it just
so happened that she was there the moment the cat
came up. Cat was moving slow. They got it over
to a vet and it's expected to make a full.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Recovery justice for that counter affected by the wildfires.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
One of Blair's tiny humans got her ears pierced for
the very first time. How old is she?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
She is four, she'll be five in August.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
How old were you when you got yours?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Peers, Yeah, this could be a tetchy topic for Bobby
d if he's listening out there this morning, and we
know he is. I was two weeks old and two
weeks yes, yes, that was not a mistake on my behalf.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Well, clarify, that's fourteen days.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Blarify, that is fourteen days. Blair, you were two weeks old.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
My mom took me without my father's knowledge. And yeah,
this is just another example of how my parents had
a great relationship growing up. They didn't speak for a
long time after that, but man, I was rocking those earrings.
But what's funny is like, I'm so thankful they did
it when I was so young. I for the longest
(03:16):
time had a fear of needles, and so I don't
know when I would have gotten him done had they
not done it when I was like, literally too little
to have them done.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
You have a fear of needles, but you've gotten.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Tattoos, so well, that's IM saying.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
I for the longest time, I did, but now I
was like, I get the boatox, I get the tattoos
we did.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
Those are the needles that are good for you.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Megan. How old were you when you got your ears first?
Speaker 4 (03:37):
I think I was like between three and five years old.
It was in California. My mom took us on a
trip to see her family, and I went with my
grandmas and they were like, all right, we're gonna get
her ears pised, and I mean I barely remember it.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
At the time.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Were your parents together, Megan, Yeah? Did your dad know
that she was planning on doing that or did she
do it behind his back?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (03:56):
No, not behind his back. My dad didn't really care
about that.
Speaker 7 (03:59):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
I have a sister who's twelve years older than me,
So there's nothing I could have done that young that
would have caused any stress compared to what my other
sister was doing.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
There are some people where in the relationship, Like the
little girls kind of go under the wing of the
mom and the little boys go under the wing of
the dad. So it's interesting that Bobby D, I mean
two weeks I would agree with Bobby D.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
I feel like that, yeah, he wasn't placed.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
And now that I'm sitting here think about it, I
don't know how old my sister was when she got
hers done. I just had this feeling it wasn't two
weeks old. But again, yes, two weeks was way too young.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
I love what they're doing now with the whole ear
piercing thing. Is some of these places I see these
videos pop up every once in a while where the
person piercing the little kid's ear will talk to them
to distract them so they can push it through, rather
than that big old gun that they used to use,
Like that just didn't seem like it was the smoothest
thing ever.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
These guns are tiny now.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
And I have a video of Emma, and like when
I tell y'all, this child did not lench, and it's
like I'm already a little scared of her because she
controls me in every single aspect of my life already.
But now, like this child has no fear. We are
all in trouble.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
For everybody that's guy in their ear fierce jump on.
We want to find out how old you were when
you got your ears pierced and what was the story?
A five to five grave zero. This weekend, everybody is
talking about the storms. They could come in late tonight
and all day tomorrow. Megan Thomas of Fox six WBrC,
what can we expect.
Speaker 8 (05:28):
Heading into this weekend? You need to have a way
to get watches in warnings. Best case scenario, it's just
a big old rain of it. But as our team
looks at all this data, I do think that the
strongest of storms could occur mid afternoon on Saturday. Now
don't let your guard down early Saturday morning, just after
midnight posted about three four o'clock through about eight am
(05:50):
on Saturday. We have this more of an enhanced risk
west of I sixty five. The storms that do develop,
they could create strong, gusty winds. You could be talking
about jail and also they have the potential to be tornadic.
I think round two from noon Saturday through early Sunday
morning about three am looks like the more potent rounds. Specifically,
(06:11):
i'd say, close to about five o'clock in West Alabama
and then leading up through about ten o'clock along that
I sixty five quarter or so. It's going to be
an all day event, you guys. It's going to be
one of those where you kind of have to watch,
you have to wait. There are enough parameters and ingredients
in play right now that it could be one of
those where we're watching for violent long track tornadoes. But
(06:34):
we want to make sure you are prepared because obviously
knowledge is always power.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
There are times, Megan, where I always get worried about
storms like this because of the wet weather and the
high winds and uprooting trees. Is that always a big concern?
Speaker 8 (06:47):
I mean, Alabama's topography is filled with trees. You've got
national forests and of course dead trees sometimes and those
are the ones that typically will snap the easiest. I
think power outed. Is it possible, especially with winds upwards
at fifty to sixty miles an hour that can easily
topple trees, bring down branches, and of course take out
(07:08):
power across the state. And when you have heavy rain
coupled with that, it'll moisten the ground enough to where yes,
the roots become a little bit loose and it's easier
to knock them down. I do not think this is
going to be a flooding threat. I think this is
definitely more of a wind and potential tornatic event.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Meghan Thomas, The Fox six WBrC.
Speaker 8 (07:27):
Thank you, all righty, we'll talk soon.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
This weekend at Saint Patrick's Day, there's a lot happening
all throughout the city and wherever you plan on being.
Meghan and her boyfriend Gi Joe are going to Savannah
for the weekend. Very excited about that, Meghan.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
I've never been there before.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
I haven't really been around a whole lot of places
in Georgia before.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Meghan is going to be in Savannah. Blair, you're going
to be traveling for a volleyball tournament.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
You stay in local Yes, we go to Chattanooga this weekend.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Okay, Well, neither one of those places, as I feel,
are really big Irish places, so you may have to
bring a lucky of the Irish with you. Without any prompting, Blair,
give us your best Irish accent.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Happy say Patrick's Day.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Ah.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
I feel like that was pretty good. I would believe
it away.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Thank you, slamming some Canadian in there.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
I feel as if it was appropriate.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Megan best Irish accent.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Okay, I don't what do they sound like they sound?
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (08:36):
Oh oh, ladies, get your beer and let's fight each
other and have a great time.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, Blair, how many grand babies do you have?
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Well, grand babies? I've got nine?
Speaker 4 (08:55):
What nine?
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
And you can name them all?
Speaker 5 (09:01):
Yeah? Do you want me to do it right now?
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Jake Colts, Cash, Shelby, Colby, Corbyn, Emma Cooper, Carter, nice a.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Five five grave zero. Our friendly first sergeant has eighteen grandkids.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Now right now, go counting.
Speaker 9 (09:19):
Okay. So you've got Isabella, Chris Lee, Ellie and Golly,
Golly go. And you've got nixt child, her name is God.
(09:39):
It's a lot, it's.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
A lot to go those birthdays, Nixonstlantics.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
And then you've got Jacobs is a Stelle right, You've
got Riker and Ryland Jenny. And then you've got Josh
and Jasmine's sons, which are Wilson, Jamison, Dixon, Harrison and Camden.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
We're at thirteen thirteen.
Speaker 9 (10:11):
You've got Corey and his two sons and daughter. The
two sons are just.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Make up three names.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
Just make a no. No, you've got those and we
never ever see them and I always forget their name.
I can't remember it is.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
I was thirteen out of eighth any good?
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Not bad if it was a marksmanship test and it fails,
So that's all right?
Speaker 9 (10:37):
Oh yeah, right.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
It's How Country are You? On the Spencer Grave Show.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Betty is going to play How Country are You? She's
representing the city of Coleman on a scale of one
to country. Betty, how country are you?
Speaker 7 (10:52):
I think I'm a seven. My husband says I'm a five.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Why does he say you're a five?
Speaker 7 (10:56):
He thinks I'm more city than I am.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Well, let's go ahead and prove him wrong. Megan's gonna
ask you three questions.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Good luck, thank you.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
We want you to tell us what item you can
buy that comes in the following options twelve forty five.
Speaker 7 (11:12):
Nine, twelve forty five beer.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
I wish I could buy a forty five rac.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Sounds like ammo? Is that right, Megan?
Speaker 5 (11:24):
Yep, ammo was the answer.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
I didn't think about that.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
We want to know next, your go to order when
you go to waffle house.
Speaker 7 (11:34):
Oh my gosh, scrambled eggs. The cheese hash brown scattered
with onions and toast.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
She said the magic word, She said scattered. If she
said anything other than what waffle House calls the order,
we would probably agree with your husband that you're a
little more city.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
But so far you're doing great.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Last question, what was your What was it like for
you when you were learning how to back up a trailer?
Speaker 5 (12:00):
We want us to basically you take us back in time.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Oh my god, I mean, have you ever backed up
a trailer?
Speaker 7 (12:09):
Yes? Yes, I used to back up a boat with
a trailer with a boat on it.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
What kind of boat?
Speaker 7 (12:15):
And it was Yeah, it was terrifying. It was just
a record boat that you just took out in the water.
It was just terrifying. I mean, well, looking backwards, looking
backwards through my mirror and tried to guide. I kept
getting screwed up.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
It's just the opposite. If you go to the left,
the trailer goes to the right. It's crazy. Yes, not bad.
You said you were a seven. You're an eight and
a half today.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Day.
Speaker 7 (12:45):
Oh my goodness, my husband's gonna love me for this, Blair.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Given the fact that you're from here, how do you
guys stormproof when you're going into the threat of storms
like we're seeing this weekend.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Well, for us, we are very fortunate that when we
built our house, we have a safe room in our house.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
We turn our laundry room.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Into a safe room, and so all of our immediate
family and friends know, Hey, if you want to come
over here and hang out, come.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
On, Megan.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
You had to deal with a lot of tornadoes growing
up in Kansas City. What would you guys do to
prepare your house for a storm.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
So the majority of people, if you lived in a
house that was in a DUPLEXTN apartment, you would have
a basement that really helped. But we would have a
tote in the basement that just had a couple of blankets.
A little like an extra pair of shoes is really
important because if something does happen, even if your house
(13:38):
isn't damaged, if there's stuff blown around outside and you
have to go help a neighbor or something, people forget
the importance of getting shoes so you don't just jump
out of bed in your barefoot out. There also water
and some snacks.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yesterday, my buddy Daniel that I fished with, I posted
a picture of our latest trip on Spencer Grave show
on Facebook. He called me and he's from Florida and
he just moved to Alabama and he was like, Hey,
can you help me stormprove the house? I said sure,
so I went over. I didn't know what to expect.
The Literally, the only thing you wanted to move was
move his grill so it would be closer to the
(14:14):
house because he didn't want to fly around. And I
thought to myself, that's a really unique thing to point
at because he lives in a house with a bunch
of mature trees everywhere. I'm like, I'm more worried about
trees than I would be my grill.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
But do you do that? Do you move your patio furniture?
Speaker 7 (14:32):
Blair?
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Some of it we will move around, but then the
others that are just heavier that we don't have like
a really good place to put it, we just cross
our fingers and hope.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Yeah, that's what I was thinking here. I was like,
nothing's so heavy. I don't think it's going to go anywhere.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
He's like, we gotta move it, and I was like, okay,
sometimes you have to.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Like the winds that we had last week, I was
telling you, guys, I couldn't.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
Shut my front door.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
I had like my little table, my rocking chair was
certain to blow around. I moved everything into my living room.
And I think that's what Daniels would do.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
Just put a girl inside the living room. It would
make great decore.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Where'd you put your kiddie pool from the backyard.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Oh, that's locked in the shed that got its door
blown open.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I was open that it was going to be in
the laundry room, and you were like, well, I'm just
taking a nice little siesta with all this weather that's
coming in. If there's a way that you stormproof your
property to get already to share with us a five
to five grave zero
