Speaker 1 (00:00):
Megan, you had drill for the US Army National Guard
over the weekend and you get hit with this question
all the time? What is it?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's when strangers come up to me and ask me.
I think what this girl was trying to ask was
what is my ethnicity?
Speaker 1 (00:13):
What does she say to you?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
She said, what's your nationality? And I just looked at
her like, blink blink, blink blink, like we're all in
the army, We're all were in the same uniform.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
See this patch.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
I'm not wearing a Romanian uniform.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
I'm pretty sure nationality is all MRK and oh my god.
But then she told me, She's like, yeah, like what's
your race? What's your ethnicity?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
And I was like, why do strangers always come up
and have this need to ask? You get that a
lot all the time my whole life. And I'm not
even wearing like a nice self tanner or anything. I
look pale and crusty, dusty. Even if I had known
you for.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
A long time, I feel like that's a weird question
to ask people. And You've been get this your whole life,
my whole entire life.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
But the girl she was asking me, she was like,
is that your natural hair color, and I was like,
you were like, well, I died it three weeks ago,
a little darker because I tried to go blond once
upon a time. But yes, I have very dark hair,
and I have a I mean a pretty fair complexion,
I would say. I mean, I've known you for a
long time, and even before we like officially met, I
(01:16):
didn't think this. Nothing stood out to me as like, oh,
that's so different.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Something must be different.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
But Blair, did you know that her mom raised her
to believe that she was Hispanic?
Speaker 4 (01:27):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:27):
I found that out on the show one of the
first Well you know what, Like, I think in that process,
because my mom was culturally different, I think I just assumed,
maybe as I went through life, that there was differences
about me.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
But it's been strangers asking me these questions since I can,
I mean, since I was in middle school.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
All right, well, let's set the tongue. Let's let everybody
know you're just a white American And.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
If anyone has any ideas as to why this keeps happening,
please tell me.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
You can be honest, just be nice about it.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
All the warm fuzzies and whatnot. It's the good good
on the Spencer Grave Show. When you were younger, were
you guys scared of the dark?
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, you know, And as an adult there's still times
I'm too crazy about it.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
Me too.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Bridger Peabody, a three year old, overcame his fear of
being scared of the dark just to help save the
life of his great grandmother, Sharon. Sharon and Bridger were
outside playing and she fell ended up hitting her head
while it was starting to get dark, and Bridger was
freaked out. Bridger managed to get from the front doorstep
(02:34):
all the way to her car, opened up the door,
found her cell phone and called nine to one one.
On the call, he was freaking out because it was
so dark. Emergency personnel showed up. They got her in
an ambulance. They got her home. He's being hailed as a.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Hero, as he should be. That's incredb three years old.
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
It's the Spencer Grave Show. I'm learning so much about
Isaiah Moore, who was showcased on a Marria. He's from Springville,
but he lives in Aniana, Alabama. He actually postponed his
wedding Blair in order to try out for American Idol.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
I'd like to speak to her. Honestly, I would like
to speak to her and see how she's doing. Why
I I I'm glad it worked out for him, or
at least it's sounding like it's going to work out
for him, But I feel like she's stressed.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
There is no doubt in my mind that if Steve
came to you and said, hey, I have something Mammoth
that's happening in my career and it could escalate or
change the trajectory, you would get behind him and support
him in his dreams.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Well, I mean, you make a good point, because we
did pick our wedding date because of things going on
at the VBC.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Okay, thank you, thank you. It's like people who pick
their wedding date because you can't do it on a
Saturday because Alabama's playing football right.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Well, exactly that's what happened. I said, it can't be
doing football season, and it can't be anytime that the
VBC has something going on.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Here's Isaiah Moore last night.
Speaker 7 (03:58):
He started that.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
MoMA's I won't hear that head lives, I'll hear the
wild things are got some power in that voice.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
You're going to Hollywood. War is the most recent person
from the state of Alabama that's going to go to
Hollywood on American Idol Cruise, right, is the other one
that popped up last week. And I've now watched two
weeks of American Idol, and I don't know why. I
haven't watched it in probably ten years, and now I
find myself watching. It's got to be because all the
Alabama connections.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
I wasn't expecting. I mean, I knew I wanted to
give it a shot because of a whole Carrie Underwood
story of it all. I love a full circle. We've
talked about that before, but I'm officially back to this
point of Okay, no, I'm going to be invested this season.
I had a little bit of a crazy weekend, so
I wasn't able to watch the entire episode last night,
so I'm going to catch up today. But I'm invested.
(05:16):
So if y'all have questions this season, I guess I'm
gonna be your girl. Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I'm going to do my best at getting Isaiah in
here too, because I think it would be great to
hear a little bit. You can ask him why he
decided to postpone his wedding just to do this audition.
But we should definitely get him on. So if anybody
knows Isaiah Wore and can get him in contact with us,
send him over to the Spencer Grave Show on Facebook.
It's the Spencer Graves Show. Call us a five to
five Grave zero. We had that wild weather and the
(05:42):
tornadoes over the weekend. We're just trying to figure out
what everybody's storm shelter looked like. Was it a basement,
was it a crawl space, was it a compound inside
the house? What did it look like? Paint a picture
with us, Blair, what did yours look like?
Speaker 3 (05:57):
So, when we were building our house and sat down
with my dad who was our builder, and then the
lady who drew out our plans, because of where our
laundry room sits, it's an internal gotcha middle of them
middle of the house, and so being able to concrete
all those walls made the most sense for our particular plans.
So I learned a lot about all of that when
(06:17):
we were building the house. But it also has a
mini fridge in there that I constantly keep water and
snacks in, so that's something too to have. And then
it also got me a bigger laundry room in the
scheme of things. But there's a sink in there, like saying,
many fridge, it's you know, right by our bedroom, so
(06:37):
a convenient area for sure, but that's where we've always gone.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
So not all of us live in luxury. But I
ended up finding myself Blair, looking at my house and going,
all right, if there was a storm, because this is
my first one in Alabama, where would I go? I
literally had one choice, and it's my pantry. So I
was like, it could be worse.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
It could be a lot worse. But how big is
this pantuir with you and two dogs?
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Big enough, I'm telling you, And with all the smart
food popcorn in the tostitos, scoops, chips and you know,
saved bottles of salsa that haven't even made it to
the fridge yet.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Zeus and Thor like they didn't even know something bad
was going on. They're over here like snack time.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Lord Dad, he's got all the anxiety in the world.
But Zeus. I put one of my motorcycle helmets on Zeus.
It didn't stay on long enough for a picture, but
he was just like, get that off of me. If
a storm goes in here, I'm gonna dog. But I
saw a lot of pictures and videos of people in
their safe space, So I would love to know where
was your storm shelter. Just explain what your Saturday was
(07:41):
like getting to safety A five five grave.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
Zero good morning.
Speaker 7 (07:47):
So I had total faith in my neighbors. So I
mean I was ready to go. I had the helmets
at their house already from my husband and my son
and me, And I mean, I.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Was, was that a new thing? Or have you worn
helmets for tornadoes before?
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Well?
Speaker 7 (08:04):
No, We're from Michigan, so we know.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Oh so this is your first one.
Speaker 7 (08:09):
Yeah, I mean we've been here for a few almost
three years, but we've never had to deal with the
weather like this before in the past two years. So
I was, I was preparing. But yeah, I had the
weather anxiety. I was, I have TMJ. So I was
clenching my teeth and I woke up the next day hurting.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
I was worried.
Speaker 7 (08:30):
You know, I can't. I gotta trust that we're going
to be Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Which helmet were you gonna wear?
Speaker 8 (08:33):
Mary?
Speaker 7 (08:35):
Well, I have my son's football helmet helmet and bike helmet.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
I love it. A friend of mine, Daniel, he and
his wife. They moved up here from Lake Okachobee in
southern Florida, and they've obviously dealt with a lot of hurricanes,
but as far as the tornado, they haven't dealt with that.
So they posted a video of them sitting in a
bathroom with their animals and they were both wearing bicycle helmets.
(09:03):
And then I had my video that I put up
of that ridiculous motorcycle helmet that I was wearing. But
then I saw a lot of other people like Blair,
if you needed to wear a helmet, what helmet would
you have grabbed at your house.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
I don't own a helmet.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
You don't have Tennessee volunteers signed football helmet.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
No, And if I did, that would be that would
not be going on my head. It would stay and
it's clear display.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I think that's the one that you need. You know,
you could sit there and go this was signed by
Peyton Manning, but it is here to save my life.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
I wouldn't risk the Peyton Manning signature.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
That's wild. Well, Mary, thank you very much, glad that
everything went well in your area. Thank you for calling us.
Speaker 7 (09:43):
All right, have a great day.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Cody, you mind pulling us off a bluetooth or speaker
or your headset, tru It, is it actually sounded like
you were in a storm shelter. Where did you go, Cody,
to get out of the storm this weekend?
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I be honestly, yes, that's they're on much out all right.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Well, we just got the best answer. But you know what,
go out on the front porch, though, I'm a little
disappointed out.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
In the backyard with the dogs just watching it go around.
There was nine kids and six.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Adults in my house and y'all just stand right there
in the living room, right there on the couch.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
We set up a projector in the playroom for the
kids and let them watch a movie, and the adults
we watched the weather.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
This guy is, he's smart. He did not want to
be trapped in one room with this many people. I
don't even know if I like all of them.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Okay, we love every one of them, but we were
the only ones with the storm shelter.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I tell you what a friend of mine, she had
to be trapped in her son's room. And I say trapped.
After this story, you'll get it. She was trapped in
there with her three dogs, a cat, her son who's
eight and her, and she said they couldn't stop farting,
every single one of them. And I wanted that storm
pass as fast as possible because the only thing passing
was gas. Do you guys remember the first ticket you
(11:00):
ever got or the first ticket you got from the police.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
It's easy to remember when it happens on your sixteenth birthday.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Oo Oo, we'll get that story in just a minute. Megan,
do you remember your first ticket with the police.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Yeah, because I got in a fight with the cop
and it did not help me.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Okay, we'll hear that story next. Dino is in here.
Your son just got his very first speeding ticket.
Speaker 9 (11:23):
He did, yep, going to school every day. When he
goes to school, I said, because he moves like a sloth,
and then he drives like a banshee. I say, go slow,
so he blew through his steps. I was going down
a hill and was going fifty one into thirty five.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Okay, but he's going down hill.
Speaker 9 (11:39):
So what though, You got to ride the brake. So
he says, Oh, it's no big deal.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
What is it?
Speaker 9 (11:43):
Twenty dollars?
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Your paycheck is gone, buddy? How much was the ticket?
Speaker 9 (11:50):
I told him it's going to be at least one
eighty I think.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
So what am I What did he say about the situation?
Like he was going down the hill thirty five, he
was going fifty one to thirty five, he gets pulled
over by the police? Off or do you do everything right?
Did he have.
Speaker 9 (12:03):
My nephew was in the car as well, and he said,
you know, he said all the right things, had his registration,
had all that, but then he tried to get out
of it. Was saying, oh, well, this is my first ticket,
like you're supposed to get a discount or sometimes that's.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Not how this works, buddy.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
But would you have been more mad if he would
have been late for school or more mad that he
got the ticket?
Speaker 9 (12:24):
More mad that he got the ticket because he school
starts at the same time every day, so you know
what time you have to be there.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
So that kind of points to the fact that he's
been speeding a lot.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
Oh I know, yes, I know, yes, hell, because my
daughter will tell me that she's scared for her life.
But on Life three sixty, it looks like he's going
forty five.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
It's probably in a school zone.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I got a buddy of mine who he follows his
kids on Life three sixty. He gives him a real
time view. His kid got pulled over by the police,
and they were like, I think your dad's going to
ring your next so we'll call him and if your
dad comes down and gets you, we'll let this go.
He told me that his son had been speeding for
like four straight months, and he was like, you're done.
You get grounded for it, the whole deal.
Speaker 9 (13:02):
I don't think you get grounded. The price is going
to come when he has to pay the ticket. So
I think he learned his lesson.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
The twenty dollars ticket.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Exactly. All right, Blair, tell us about your ticket.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
So I didn't have to take the driving test because
I did drivers in and you take the little card up,
you know, day of just basically take your picture and
get your license. And I had my two best friends,
Rachel and Lindsay. They went with me because we were
just going to spend the day riding around, because that's
what you do when you turned sixteen, just riding around.
And my birthday failed during spring break. It was literally perfect.
(13:35):
So we're riding around jamming to Jody Messina because who
else would you dam to on your sixteenth birthday? And
I got pulled over and I uh literally pulling out
of the courthouse, like had my license all of ten minutes,
get pulled over.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
The lambit it was still warm.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Oh my gosh, I got three tickets. One for speeding.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
How you just pulled out of a parking lot.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
The things you can do in a Tennessee Orange messang
on your sixteen berthday. So one for speeding. One for
the first six months that you're sixteen. You're only allowed
to have a one more person under the age of
eighteen with you, and I had two, and then another
because they said my stereo was too loud.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Noise ordinance.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Oh, they were just met you got.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
The triple Crown.
Speaker 7 (14:22):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Can you guys share with us the first ticket you
ever got? Eight five five graves zero No, Megan, we
did not forget about you. But we've got to get
some of those calls. And then we want to hear
how you got into a fight with a police office.
Can you share with us the last time you got
a ticket.
Speaker 8 (14:38):
I had a spaining ticket probably about a year ago.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Oh what'd you do?
Speaker 8 (14:43):
And Jasper, there's a going down a hill and my two.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Year old, Oh does your two year old know about
your your your heavy foot.
Speaker 8 (14:54):
He was not in the core, but my six year
old was and.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
He's getting rat you out.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
What did you do? He told my husband as soon
as we got home.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
YEA, God, bless kids. We raised them to just be me.
Speaker 8 (15:12):
I was going down a hill and the speed limit
changed as I'm going down the hill, and that trooper
was waiting to get me.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, it's just again they treated you, and I feel like, yeah,
in your defense, I feel like this should have just
been thrown out. It's time.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
I'm gonna be honest. I love the fact that kids
we teach them to just be open and honest about everything.
Tell the truth and you won't get in trouble unless
it's against your mother. Do not tell your father what.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Don't say a word?
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 8 (15:40):
I was like Jackson, can we uh not talk to
that about this? And he was like, oh no, I'm
telling them all.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
My dad needs to know.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Thanks to all the calls, A five five grave zero.
All right, we're talking about the first time you ever
got a ticket. Megan got into a fight with a cop.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
I did because he was following me while I made
a legal U turn. Okay, I had my boyfriend at
the time sister in the car who was younger, so
this was very embarrassing, and he pulled me over. It
was the middle of winter, so I had a big
puffy coat on. He comes to my window. I rode
down the window and I take my seatbelt off so
(16:17):
I can turn my neck in my coat to talk
to him.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
And he then goes, oh, well, your seatbelt's not on.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
That's another ticket, And I said, are you kidding me
right now? You just followed me doing a legal U
turn and you haven't even said why you pulled me over.
And I'd never gotten a ticket before, so I didn't
even know if this is right or wrong.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
So then he.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Wrote me up for speeding, for illegal U turn, which
was wrong, no insurance because of course I couldn't find
my insurance card and.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
We lost her in somewhere.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, and for no seatbelt okay, So then I told him,
I'm like, dude, what the heck?
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Basically, I was like this, I've never gotten a ticket.
Are you supposed to give me a warning or something?
Speaker 2 (17:01):
And that's when he really got mad, and he was like, listen,
you better storreting ry earls.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
You know, I could, you know, do this or that,
and I was just like, are we done?
Speaker 9 (17:13):
The kid and the puffy coat in a Christmas story
trying to turn.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
I love it.
Speaker 9 (17:19):
I'm sure cops love it, would say, dude, what the heck? Yeah,
I'm sure they just.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Love that part. To any teachers that are driving right
now and you might handle driver safety at your school,
I'll get you the recording of this so you can
just play it and tell your kids. This isn't what
you do when you get pulled over by the police.
This is not the It's like the dues and don'ts.
That's the don't. This is a better idea.
Speaker 9 (17:40):
Why don't we have Blair and Meghan because they clearly
need to refresh herate to go through driving school again.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Get you know, the problem is I wouldn't pass, and
then I wouldn't get your work exactly. I barely passed
the first time.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Grace, would you be able to pull us off bluetooth
so we can hear you better?
Speaker 6 (17:56):
Can you hear me now?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah? What's going on? Grace?
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Nothing?
Speaker 7 (17:59):
Hours?
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Calling in for the ticket. I got my first ticket
this year.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Congratulations. I guess I should say how long you been driving?
Speaker 7 (18:08):
Well, I'm twenty eight so pretty well, what was the
ticket for?
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Well, it was the stupidest thing. I had an expiring tech.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Oh that stakes so nothing.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Not even a cool story.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
Huh, not even a cool story. I feel paid that
I had tooth screaming toddlers in the back seat when
he pulled me over, and I feel like he had
me roll my winded down and everything. And I was
just like, I'm sorry, but you didn't know what.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
You were getting pulled over for. When you said I'm sorry, I.
Speaker 6 (18:40):
Didn't have a clue. I had no clue.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Really, why is.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
This guy stiffing me? I'm going well under the speed
limit and everything's fine.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Yeah, And like I didn't think anything of it. He
got on, I got on the interstate. He got on
right behind me, and I just was cruising along and
then before I knew it, I'm getting whoop whooped.
Speaker 7 (18:56):
And I was like, oh my gosh, what if I
whoop whoop?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
I didn't know that that was a verb until just now.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Anybody getting woop whooped this morning?
Speaker 6 (19:06):
So and it was just over and fire attack and
I ended up having to.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Go to court for it.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Yeah, I feel like you got that dropped.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Well I thought they would, but they didn't. I ended
up having to pay callers had.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Do you genuinely forgotten or was it one of those
things you're like, I just didn't go deal with it.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
Well, at first, it was just one of those things like,
I don't have the time right now, I'll get to it.
When I get to it. I stay home so I
don't ever drive my car.
Speaker 8 (19:31):
And then it just happened.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
That day I had to take my father to the doctor,
and I had forgotten about it at that point, genuinely,
and he pulled me over and I was like.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Look, it's been expired since twenty fourteen.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Oh, well, you know, I'm not judging you because for
whatever reason, so I guess we give those in the
mail yet, yes, and for whatever reason, every time that
comes to our house. It's one of those things that
I put off to the last minute for no reason.
I'm a very type a personality type person in case
y'all didn't know that, and so it's odd to me
(20:09):
that this is the one thing that I like, I'm
going to put this off as long as I possibly can.
And I don't know why.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
