Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's one thing you believe everybody needs to experience one
time in their life at least.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
I think you need to travel outside of the country, agreed.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
And why do you say international travel is so important.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I mean, there's so many people that don't travel internationally,
and I just think that it kind of reminds you
how good we have it back home.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Okay, Does it also give you new experiences maybe look
at life through a different lens?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
For sure? For sure. I mean like it's so wild
to me some of the places that I've been lucky
enough to travel to that it's like those places exist
in this world. You know. We get so wrapped up
in our everyday lives that we forget what else is
out there. And so I just think, even down to
the craziness of getting through customs, everybody should go through
it at least once.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I find it interesting when you go to beautiful places
like let's say Saint John or Fiji, these places that
are so tropical. We will spend lots of money just
to travel there, and for us it's a once in
a lifetime deal. But the people that live there, they're
just like, you know, whatever, Yeah, like we see this
every day. See this every day, but then if they
went to Nebraska, they'd be like, oh my god, it's
(01:07):
so much different here. I believe that everybody needs to
go to church at least one time in their life.
And I feel like as an adult it's a little
more paramount Like if you went as a kid, you
were going because of your family. But if you really
get tugged at and you need to go to church,
I feel like you have to go to church at
least once to just hear something that might challenge you
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah. I think if you live in the South, that's
like a requirement. Don't get kicked out.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
It's a birthright. Eight five five Grave zero. What's one
thing you believe everyone should experience at least one time
in their life. Deborah, good morning, and thanks so much
for calling the Spencer Grave Show.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yes, I believe everybody should go through boot camp anything,
whether you stay in the military or not, I think
everybody should go through boot camp. I think it just
makes you appreciate your country.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
This might sound like a dumb question, but were you
in the military in.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
The Air Force?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Tell us when you're care service, Yeah, and tell us
what your experience was like boot camp.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
It makes you grow up, you learn how to be independent.
You see what our military is like. I think there
would be a lot less protesting.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
What was happening in your life at the time that
you went into boot camp that you needed to kind
of get away from or you need to reevaluate.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I live in a very rural small town. There was
one plant to work at. You either got married, you
had babies on went to college, or you loft for
the military.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, so all those things frightened you, but you were
like the military. Yes, uncle Sam, I'm coming, I'm running
full Space's god. Yes, Well, thank you, Deborah. We appreciate
you calling this morning, and thanks so much for your service.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Like Blair said, thank you, have a good morning.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Giving you all the warm fuzzies and whatnot. It's the
good good On the Spencer Grave Show, so many graduations happening.
This one is incredible. A student named Jaden was paralyzed
from the chest down after a scooter accident. He was
able to walk across the stage and get a diploma.
(03:00):
Hear that again. He was paralyzed from the chest down,
but he walked across the stage. How He went months
of rehab and he used high tech robotic legs to
help him walk.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
This is just a reminder that if you set your
mind as something, you can accomplish the impossible. Well done,
and I'm so proud of him, Like I know all
of his family is too, but that's just incredible.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Congratu Jaden. A lot of people are going to be
graduating over the next couple of weeks. So if you
had advice that you wanted to give to the graduating class,
let us know, eight five to five graves, zero blair.
What's three pieces of advice you'd give to the graduating class.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Oh, you know, I can do this this year, because
next year I've got a couple of tiny humans that
are going to be graduating. I'm going to be a
basket case. So just keep that in mind. The first
one would be, and this sounds a little cliche, but
know that you're going to make mistakes. I think a
lot of times you graduate high school and there's this
pressure of like just doing everything right and being an
(04:05):
adult and all this, and you're gonna make mistakes. Know that,
accept that, and be okay with that. Number two, This
one sounds a little silly, and it's specifically for kids
that are going to be moving off for school or
for the next phase of your life. Let your parents
take the pictures, let your parents visit. Let your parents
be a part of this era of your life, because
(04:29):
this is a big deal for them too. It's not
just your journey, it's their journey too. And then the
third one is learn from my mistakes. Don't get that
credit card, that credit card that they're going to offer
you that first time that you walk into whatever store
it is and you think, oh, this will be great.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I'm an adult now, don't do it.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Don't do it, you don't need it.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
That's solid advice, Blair, really good. Here's three pieces of
advice that I would give to the graduating class. You
need to give time and energy to building important relationships,
whether that's personal or at work. If they are important
to you and you see them as somebody that you
want to grow with, give that time to that. Don't
take criticism from somebody you wouldn't ask advice from. If
(05:10):
I learned that early on in my career, I think
it would have been a lot different. Everybody is ready
to give you opinions, but only you can make the
changes that you want to see in your life. So
seek out the people who are in places where you
want to be and look to them as a mentor,
and then finally go get your dreams. I love when
(05:31):
people say, oh, I've I thought about this and I
wanted to manifest and I wanted to put it out
into the world. You got to go get them. Nobody
is going to give them to you. You wake up
this morning and you think that you're just going to
become a millionaire. It doesn't happen like that. You got
to get out there and fight for what you want.
We would love to hear more advice from you, guys
that you would give to the graduating class. Eight five
(05:52):
five graves zero.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Don't be afraid of failing. Failing always teaches you something
afraid of giving up, because when you give up, you
don't accomplish anything.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Ooh like that. I do always enjoy when people talk
about failure, because Blair, you mentioned failure in your three
things that you would say to the graduating class. I'm
a big fan of fail forward fast. You're gonna make mistakes,
but realize what you did and then try not to
do that again. Try your best. Yeah, that's all I
can do. Well, thank you, very much, Ashley, and we
(06:25):
hope you have a great day today.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Thank you too.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
We're talking about the advice that you would give to
the graduating class. Can you share with us a piece
of advice? It's How country are you? On the Spencer
Brave Show, Adam, what's going on? You're getting ready to play?
How country are you? On a scale a one to country?
How country are you? That's a probably a three. You
(06:49):
know what we always say when we hear birds in
the background, we know somebody is definitely country. I'm shocked
that you gave yourself such a low number, you know. Okay,
let's see if that holds up. Let's ask you three
questions and we'll see what your score is. Good luck.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Your first question, tell us what Alabama city is famous
for their peaches?
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Nicely? That's right, this guy tearing it up.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
You gotta always stop there and get ice cream at
the peach park, so good?
Speaker 4 (07:22):
All right?
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Tell us a sound you hear in the country that
you don't hear anywhere else.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Chickens. I don't know, man, I've seen some rogue chickens
in the city before, but they are a different breed
of shit. Oh, the ones in the city carry pocket knives.
All right, here we go. Final question.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
In the South, we love to fry everything. What's your
favorite fried meal? Chicken answers back to back, the best thing.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
In the world. All right, he said he was a
three to start. It's obviously a lie because he's a
seven point one. But why did you give yourself such
a low number.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I was just always I thought it maybe be lower
than what it was.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Wow, all right, buddy, Well, congratulations. We have a pair
of tickets for you to see Thomas Rhett oh making
share with everybody. The noise that drives you nuts when
you're watching TV.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
It's whenever there's a commercial with the ring doorbell noise
like a.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Regular doorbell or just the ring doors, the.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Ring doorbell with a ring camera man. Because Luna is
accustomed to knowing that we have one, it's the chime,
and so she absolutely loses her freaking mind that one.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Heard it, because I expect after it's so funny that
noises will trigger people because you'll be driving down the
road listening to the radio, You'll hear a song or
a commercial and you'll get police sirens in the background.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
I immediately check my rear view to see if there's
somebody in blue and whites behind.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Me, Well, if you were not driving over the speedle,
you would have to worry about that.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I feel like I could be going to speed limit
now still check, but these noises definitely come out. What's
funny about the doorbell, though, Megan, is I don't feel
like my dogs are triggered by that at all.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Have you had them in homes with multiple different types
of doorbells.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Well, I've had them in houses with doorbells, but I
think it's because you get so many deliveries to your
house that when they ring the doorbell, because nobody just
comes by my house, I rarely get delivery like you
guys do.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
But that's what's confusing, is like I don't have like
I have my camera set up away, you can't really
reach it. So she's only heard one doorbell ever. At
other people's houses, it's always been the ring chime. But
I don't have a doorbell.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Isn't it a thing now? Like you're not supposed to
actually ring the ring doorbell? Okay, it's there, Like we
just want to be able to get the notification on
our phone that there's motion at our front door. Yes,
the people that actually ring it, like that's unnecessary.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
First time I watched TV and I saw a character
go for a doorbell, I stopped and I looked at
my dogs to see how they were going to react.
They hit that doorbell, and my dogs are just like, yeah,
all right, no big deal. They didn't go to the door,
they didn't bark, they didn't woof, they didn't do anything.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
So if somebody tries to break into Spencer's house, the
dogs are not going to be alarmed if you ring
the doorbell.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Just see you guys know they're giant pimples. On the
other side, have you ever been guilty of sending a
text to the wrong person? It happens to all of us.
A five to five grave zero, Blair, can you share
with everybody who you missed? Texted?
Speaker 2 (10:33):
You know, I'm sure it happens to all of us.
I misstexted one of our.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Bosses, one of the suits, Blake. What did the text
say that Blair sent you? You were sick today, I'll
be back good as new Monday.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
But what did I say at the very beginning of
that message?
Speaker 1 (10:49):
And you responded about it? I'm sorry, okay, So thank you, Blake.
Appreciate your time today. I love you. Guys. Do not
remember sending that Wow, what were you on Friday? Because
you popped in with us. You weren't on the show
a lot because you were worried about your your voice?
But yes, what were you on? Were you on? Like
(11:11):
night quill Or?
Speaker 2 (11:12):
I had taken Nickel Severe the night before, but then
I also took day quill Severe at the moral of
just trying to like push through, and I knew my
voice was going out. I knew that, Like I felt horrible.
And now I'm over here thinking who else did I
text or teams that I haven't uncovered.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yet days later. It's happened to all of us. We've
all misstexted somebody. We have a friend who listens to
the show, and she and her husband were sending some
photos back and forth to each other one night. Well,
it just so happens that her husband is a junior,
and she then mistexted her father in law a photow
(11:54):
I would.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Have to leave.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
That is the most mortifying thing I've ever heard in
my life.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Eighty five five Grave zero share with us the time
that you misstexted someone
