From the NBA draft lottery countdown to late-night Cowboys trades and sizzling Spurs offseason rumors, no stone is left unturned.

  • The Spurs Way & Leadership:
The hosts dig into what makes “the Pop way” so enduring, with memorable lines like, “Without Pop, there is no Spurs way.” They debate whether this legendary culture will persist in the post-Popovich era, all while celebrating the accountability and unity that define the franchise.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lie d Be, lie Be Line b line be, oh
light the Beam. Welcome into the first live Wednesday edition
of the Sports Cave with Biggest Puma. I am your host,

(00:21):
Sam Freeze. If you want to reach out to the program,
or at least my part of it, you can reach
me on x at Biggest Puma, on Instagram Biggest Dot Puma,
and for my geriatric millennials just find me on Facebook
search Sam Freeze. As always broadcasting live here in the

(00:42):
greater San Antonio Era area where we find ourselves at ERA.
Talk on my Brain from pop Era. We talked on Monday.
I'm not used to doing two shows a day. Give
me a break.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
We are your mushmouth.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
We are five days away from what is shaping to
be an extremely extremely important.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
NBA Draft Lottery.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
But as always I am joined by the Cap himself
in the room here along with LG running things in
a This is always the test in a in a
room where I should be able to hear him the dungeon. Hello,

(01:25):
there is I feel like, even though we've been doing
this for like seven six weeks now on Mondays, something
about doing this for the first time on a Wednesday
feels like we're doing it for the first time. It's
a little weird. It's a little weird. It's gonna the week, man,
it is it is, and there's so much going on.
I will say this, it's shaping up to be a

(01:48):
great week to start rolling out two shows because there
is so much to talk about. There's so much to cover.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yesterday it was beautiful.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, well, depending on you could be as a sports fan. Yeah,
as an overarching sports fan, yeah, the hockey, basketball, I
think if you were, if you were a Barcelona fan,
yesterday was was not so beautiful, almost Bartha. Yeah, we're
gonna talk. It's only time since now that we're doing

(02:19):
two shows a week, I feel like I can squeeze
in more of my my niche pet sports fandom to
talk about football. We got to talk to you well,
as as our commander in chief told the head the
president of FIFA, yesterday is like.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I don't know if we call it football or soccer.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Oh, did you hear who was running the twenty twenty eight?
Is it twenty eight FIFA twenty six? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I say that next summer, educate me. I saw it,
but I forgot His.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Last name is Juliani was his first name is not Rudy, the.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
One that it's the one that ran for governor, right,
his son like Andrew or something like that. He's giving him,
he's giving Look, it's hands. Yeah, y'all worry too, It's
gonna be fine.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Does he know what a pitch is? Or you know
what they call cleats?

Speaker 1 (03:10):
No? No, no, and and you know what eighty Americans don't.
So it's not like for once I will defend Uh.
It's not like they are in the in the minority there.
They actually are the majority. Uh, we are the minority.
But I I've mentioned it a couple of times already here.

(03:31):
Obviously we are rolling out our new weekly schedule. We're
gonna start doing these not only Monday nights, but also
Wednesday nights. And first of all, I'll get all the
mushy appreciative content out of the way. The reason we're
able to start another show uh midweek like this is

(03:53):
because of all of y'all support, all of y'all riding
along with us as we we. He clips the soft
opening portion and start for the full rollout and again
the heroes. That's a thousands, As a former MVP once
told his mother. You the real MVP, And we're actually
gonna talk some KD in the main segment. Main segment

(04:16):
today tonight gonna be trade talk just general. We've got
the Cowboys made a huge.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Trade middle of the night and middle of the night,
we've got some heating, some rumors that are really heating
up for the Spurs when it comes to potential offseason targets.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
But as always, we start with what I watched last night,
what we watched last night, And I think Champions League
is a good place to start because the last two
days of the Champions League semifinals have been absolutely insane.
I mean yet, today's game between Arsenal and PSG was

(04:58):
not as entertaining as yesterday's Enter versus Varsity game. But
no game was gonna be as entertaining as yesterday's. The
problem though, and LG get that first cut ready, as
I was, you know, these games are kicking off at
two o'clock our time.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
It's so hard, so I'm usually running around doing stuff
and it's like I got to catch the highlights.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
My uh, I'm the opposite because that's usually like I'm
staying home, I'm eating breakfast most like you know, I
live on that like uh uh, you know, I roll
out of bed around noonnish and stay up till about
four am.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
My big fur babies don't let me sleep in like that.
They sit there and just pant in my face.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Like yeah, that's the uh, that's the the disadvantage of
That's why we have cats these days. After little Leroy
left this uh left this world, we have stuck with cats.
But earlier today, I'm sitting down, it's it's one fifty five.
I'm riding high off of yesterday's enter barsa second leg,

(06:05):
getting ready for Arsenal. And when I say getting ready,
they've already done the Champions League who won? Hold on?
Hold on? So they've already done the Champions League theme.
The players have shook hands, they've done the lines. They're
literally on the pitch about to kick off, about to
have the first whistle of the game, and then this

(06:28):
is what flashed across my screen.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
I guess I just wanted to touch on with you
because I know you're an NBA guy. I know you'
also somebody.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
The other one, LG, the one that interrupted the start
of the start of the match. It involved yeah, but
it involved black smoke. Coming from a specific chapel. Ye see,

(06:58):
this is it. The first ones they show and we're
already discombobulated.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
Here we are, here we go.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Now you know it's live.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
So they spend the time. They don't stand up, and
most of them will know.

Speaker 7 (07:09):
Most of them will tell you that while that's going on,
they're sitting reading their Breviary.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
That's a book of prayers.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
The clerk you have, we're praying a rosary or doing.

Speaker 8 (07:20):
The one thing we know they're not doing is checking
Instagram because their devices of all.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I believe the kids. I believe the kids call it
raw dogging it yeah right, Literally, do I teach my kids?
I think your kid. Your kid is going to try
to teach me, and then you're gonna be like, oh no, sign,
that's not what we call it. So as the game

(07:46):
is literally about to kick, the cut in with that,
because so here's the deal, they cut in segment. The
time difference. It was nine pm in in the Vatican,
So that was when the smokes when they anounced like
we're done for the day, they put the black smoke
out and so right literally right as the ball was

(08:08):
about to get kicked off, all of a sudden it's
a CBS News special report. Oh my god, that's.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
The level of reporting we got.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
We got a guy game no, no, god, no, no,
they're no. We away from Champions League. That's correct on
dog Instagram, on main CBS, like at two o'clock in
the afternoon.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
I'm glad we didn't do it. That was not America's fault.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
No, Luckily, luckily they only went for about three minutes.
But again, in that three minutes, the quality level of
CBS reporting we got was some guy saying that the uh,
you're going to be checking the Cardinals aren't going to
be checking Instagram? How many Cardinals have Instagram?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
They're sixty seventy years old. Man, do you think they're there?
I don't even think I can barely work Instagram.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Seen. I don't think that it's true. I have seen
that guy.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
That's not what's on my mind, Like, oh, are they
gonna be checking their Instagram? Or are they gonna be
tweeting out who's gonna get picked this? That never crossed
my mind, man, No, never cross No.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
They again, like I understand it, kind of like we
were talking Monday night, Like I understand the Fiesta parade
is way more important to the majority of people here
than Dallas Stars Hockey. But it's game seven of a
playoff series. This is semi finals of Champions League. I
understand the world.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Understand billions of people watching.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Dare I say more people are gonna be watching the
Champions League Final in a couple of weeks than our
attend Well, no, there's a lot.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Of I like to know the numbers the Super Bowl
versus the Champions League Final.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Champions League dwarfs it. It's just because it's such a global.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
That's what I'm thinking. They get, they get billions.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I think they get they get like two and a
half to three times. What really kills it, of course
is World Cup. I mean that World Cup because the
most Yeah, that's getting that.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
The Champions League has players from all over the world.
That's why you know you got like checking in just
because they're players in there.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah, yeah, especially when a country like that that isn't
normally producing world class talent. Like one of the defenders
for inter Milan is an Iraqi national, So like, there's
a dude from Iraq that is about to play in
a Champions League final as a starter for one of
the teams like you don't think of Iraqa. I mean

(10:30):
we saw Saudi Arabia beat Argentina. Who just blasting World Coade?
What day India, India? Everyone's bombing these days. Baby, it's
it's if you've got them, let them fly on. Boom
goes the dynamite. You mentioned. Hey, there's our favorite ball
state reporter. The yesterday's game was crazy? Was the was

(10:54):
the real crown Jewel? And before yesterday's game, LG if
you have that other clip during the pregame, we got
French legend Thierrynrie talking about how the important role Pop
played in his life. First of all being friends with
Tony inter National exactly, and being friends with Tony, getting

(11:17):
to know Pop when Tony was a player, and then
of course Tierryan Ree starts coaching after he finishes his
playing days and just him talking it was a tribute
to Pop more or less.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
If you have that, I guess I just wanted to
touch on with you because I know you're an NBA guy.
I know you also somebody else respects coaching at the
highest level in any sport, and I think there was
something you wanted to touch on too.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
If you so.

Speaker 8 (11:45):
Stopped twenty nine years as the coach of the San
Antonio Spurs. You know, I got the chance to meet
him with Tony Parker when I was going there, and
I always was well received. You know we've all seen
before that was there also with coach Pop that he
will stay also twenty nine years. I mean it's a bit,
you know, like like Sir Alex was in our in

(12:07):
our in our game, he's going to go up to
be the president of operation and so you know, I
always you know, I never had the time to thank
him because of the discussion had with him.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
He gave me a lot of advice.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
To to know what it is to be to be
a leader and have the key of the team because
I used to have a discussion with him about how
he did it, you know, when Tim Duncan was the
man and then suddenly Tony somehow went to a certain
level and I was like, how do you deal with
Tony Genobilly and Tim Duncan And.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
We were talking about that.

Speaker 8 (12:40):
It was always always available to speak and you know
it's it's just a great just a great guy. And
like he had the had T shirt you have a day,
So I would say all the very best refect because
now he said, oh god.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Of course the boss Michael in there. But there's something
about it if I think he made some kind of
British slang something that because I tried, I spent way
more time than I should have to try to figure
out exactly what it was. He said, Uh, hell well,

(13:19):
I mean he said it on CBS proper, so it
can't be that bad. But there's something about, you know,
being when you're at a certain level of greatness, you're appreciated.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
You know.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
It's like a like a lot of soccer players, when
you're a world when you're world class at what you do,
that community of other guys that are at that level.
It's cool to hear those guys talk about each other,
especially coming from different sports like Tierry Henrie, one of
the greatest soccer players ever, pop greatest American basketball coach ever,

(13:52):
and just to hear, you know, basically just two of
the greats talk about their past interactions.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
It's got to be like, you know, I mean, obviously
the excess and o's are different between the sports, but
you're a leader of men.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
You got to get a group of.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Personalities to coexist and buy in on the same thing.
You know, we have to buy in on the same
you know as the problem said, the Spurs Way. You know,
it's you don't think other coaches wanted to pick Pop's
mind throughout every sport to be like, how do you
how do you get these guys to buy.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
In, especially eccentric French soccer players point guards. I just
think that's probably a little more difficult than some other
some other nations of origin you mentioned. You know, we
obviously we call it the Spurs Way. It's the Pop Way.

(14:53):
It's the Pop Way that became the Spurs Way. It's
the it started as the Pop Way and now it
will forever be the Spurs Way.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
But without Pop, there is no Spurs Way.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
They don't.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
They don't.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
One came before the other. Find out now, yeah, I
mean we'll find out. See if the Pop's Way trands
into the Spurs Way with Mitch.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Yeah, And we played that clip you know, from the
Pop at the press conference, and what stood out to
me was him specifically talking about how Mitch would keep
them accountable. That's the Pop Way, accountability at the basis
of everything. But just really cool to hear Tierryn Reed
talk about Pop. You know, I mean, I know, we're
obviously protective of our our you know, little spurs here

(15:38):
and Santel we got. But to hear one of the
greatest athletes ever on a world stage talk about Pop
and the Spurs. Uh, there's something really cool about that.
But the game right after that yesterday, so it was
a three to three tie. They played two legs in
the semi finals, one at one team's home stadium, the

(15:59):
other at the other team. So the first leg, inter
Milan went up two to nothing, Barsia came back, tied
it to two. That was all in the first half.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
The first Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
In the second half of that game, both teams scored.
Inter scored first again, then Barsa tied it, so it
was three to three going to the second leg. Yesterday,
both teams play are Yesterday was insane, man, We had
uh Enter go up again, Barcia come back and tie
it again. Intertook the lead, Barsa tied it, then Barsa

(16:32):
took the lead. It was flipped as the first game,
so Barca took the lead, then terties it at close
to the final whistle and then they end up winning
it an extra time. But it was you know, as
someone who you know only been a soccer fan.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Uh, seems like it seems like a game where like
the non average soccer player, this is the game you
want them to watch.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Yeah, one thousand and that's why it's so cool. Like
thinking back, you know, we were talking a couple of
weeks ago about the bloke in England that saw the
Chelsea jersey I was wearing. It's also the twenty year
anniversary of Chelsea's first Premier League title today or yesterday,
but the jeopardy you know, it's Chelsea.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
It's top of mind.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
But the fact that if you had told me twenty
years ago there would be Champions League semifinals being aired
on Big CBS Main CBS channel on Kin's five in
the middle of the afternoon to an American audience, that
that was just so far off the sports landscape. They

(17:40):
haven't started They only started doing that. I think it
was like three years ago, maybe three four years ago.
So it where they put it on big, big network
like that, And so yeah, I mean you talk about it,
the fact that you know, a couple million people watched
these games yesterday and today that might not it was

(18:01):
on in instead of a soap opera being on in
the doctor's office waiting room. It was Champions League soccer. Yeah,
that's crazy like that, that is that is a true
measurement of the growth of the game. Uh here back home,
but I mentioned inter wins yesterday, PSG one today over

(18:21):
Arsenal h. So we'll have an Italian versus French final
coming up here in a couple of weeks. They like
each other. It's it should be, you know. It's especially
the way interplays like PSG, I think is the more
talented squad, but Enter for lack of a better, for

(18:42):
full going, full stereotype. They have that Italian passion, that
Italian just absolute no quit defiance of all the odds
type of it's a bit of fascist play style, but
in a good way. It's it's a good dash of.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
I'm wrong because you probably know this more. The one
of the World Cups that really stood out to me
was the finals with those the don headbunt again Italy France.
See that was that match was probably the one that
got me in to FIFA World Cup, in the CONCAF,
in the European always like I was like, man, these guys, it.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Was either ninety eight or two because two that was
a I think I think that was a lot of
people's awakening to soccer. Maybe maybe didn't become that ended.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Up in penalties and don was there wasn't k kicker
and they lost by one p K that was it
was that was six.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
That was way early. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yeah, so I just remember they just like they lost
their best PK kicker, you know. Yeah, And it was
because he was in the world.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Yeah, it was, it was. It was well did so
it's never been verified. Called something about his sister, right,
I believe it was his his he called his sister
the offspring of a terrorist or something like that. Because
Saddan is half Albanian, it looks like he doesn't play nationality.

Speaker 9 (20:18):
No, he doesn't play around absolutely well as we saw,
as we saw.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
In that in that final, I barely touched him. Yeah. No,
you're not getting away with that. You're not getting away
with that at all. Elsewhere on my sports viewing run sheet,
here my Rangers finally scored some runs. Really it could
have been more to they They end up beating the
Red Sox six to one, but had sixteen hits, which is, Oh,

(20:45):
I think we need to give you a minute. No minute,
there's no minute because there's no minute. Because and I'll
tell you this, if the Rangers start getting on a
roll that's gonna be full segment worthy, we're not. We're not.
We're not they If Brett Boone turns things around for
this lineup and we start smashing the ball again, no,

(21:08):
it's gonna be a it's gonna be a Ranger ten minutes.
And yeah, it was great for you. It's great for you. Yeah.
They beat the up and Finway beat the Red Sox
after a rain delay last night. Most importantly, though, so
they designated for assignment. Uh Leoti taveris their former starting centerfielder,
a guy who was on the World Series team a

(21:30):
couple of years ago. And then you're already showing me
Celtics Knicks updates. They were down by twenty. I know
this is this is what happens if you missed Mondays
Monday quarter. Oh my god. We had some back and
forth because Cap wouldn't leave the sports updates alone. And
then it was like this. It was when it got close,

(21:51):
it was like, okay, well damn it. Now I want
to know. Now, now I need to know. I thought
it was just gonna be a blowout. They're going to
keep the home court advantage, man, but keep your eyes
on that.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Yeah, we gotta keep because we're gonna talk.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
We're gonna talk to if I won. Sixteen eighteen seconds left.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Little NBA recap as well. But now most importantly, Rangers
losele Ode to Varis to Waivers. He ends up going
to Seattle, which you never want to see him stay
within the division. Oh wow, that's always Yeah, that's center
field stutfielder. As I just said, whenever you were worried
about your you're a score.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
I was actually gonna see what the Rangers in Boston
were doing right now.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, they But then I saw that and I was like,
what they've blown that lead a couple of times tonight.
You mentioned are they stacked at center field? Yes?

Speaker 2 (22:40):
And no?

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Uh yes. Now that they called up Evan Carter, their
former top prospect over all, the kid that made his
major league debut the year of the World Series run,
he's been battling back injuries and didn't put it together
in spring training like they were hoping to see. But
he's called up from Triple A to replaced Ta VARs
Uh and they get sixteen hits last night and win.

(23:03):
You mentioned the NBA. We need to talk a little
bit of NBA here in the in the what I
watched segment because Monday night, after we ended the show,
you know, we're all going our separate ways. The roommate
and I ended up sitting and watching the rest of
the NBA doubleheader that night. We mentioned, you know, Nix

(23:24):
ended up coming back and beating the Celtics in the
early game.

Speaker 9 (23:28):
But they Okay, we're gonna talk about because this is
getting insane at the two road teams, the two road
teams in the East have now won both games on
the road.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
They've now so.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
And I know we're gonna get in that later.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
We're gonna talk Pacer because some of the Pacer numbers
with that comeback, we're insane. I didn't they were up
bite so twenty plus and it looked like it looked
like the Celtics were clearly focused on We're responding and
taking care of business. Yeah, we're gonna have to we'll
have to recap on my God once we can see

(24:05):
some of the highlights. But after we leave Monday night,
end up watching that Nuggets Thunder game, and damn if
Aaron Gordon didn't get another buzzer beater, this time not
a slam game. Yes, I guess this one wasn't technically
a buzzer beater because there was still like one point
one seconds or something.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
But the game the court.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Mentioned, you know, Monday night, we saw the Knicks beat
the Celtics, the the smaller seated team, the road team,
the underdog. We saw the Nuggets beat the Thunder on
Aaron Gordon's second game winning shot of this playoff run.
And then damn if Tuesday night we didn't see the
Pacers with an insane comeback to win Game two. But

(24:57):
what so I've got some again. Let me turn to
my trustee fun facts here that I have aggregated that
that Pacers, which was more important the Pacers come back
or the Warriors winning the game against the te Wolves

(25:17):
later that night with ease after Steph Curry left thirteen
with only thirteen minutes of playing time.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
The Pacers playing the Calves, which is I believe you know,
I would have to go. I'd have to go with
the Warriors winning, so then give Steph some time?

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, yeah, I'd have to go there.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
They say he's gonna miss away a week. Yeah, so
they come back and lose two three games, they still
have a possibility.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
You can still save them.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Yeah, they split a game here and there, so.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
That the Pacers calves game last night. In the last
twenty years, teams that have trailed by seven or more
in the final forty eight second of the fourth quarter
or overtime, so forty eight seconds or less trail by
seven or more points, that's ridiculous. In the last twenty years,

(26:10):
the team with the lead has a record of one
thy six hundred and seventy nine wins and three losses.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
And we know when those losses are.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
And Tracy McGrady, we know, well there's one and then
we know the other two are the Pacers over the
last eight days. What they did it last night? And
then they did it. They had done it against the
Bucks in that opening series. Oh my, so two of
the three times that has ever happened the clutch over

(26:42):
the last two decades. Okay, you mentioned clutch. So I
don't know how much y'all buy into or pay attention to.
You know, all of these player surveys they do at
the end of the season. Oh yeah, so Tyrese Haliburton
was voted by his peers by fellow players as the
most overrated player in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
WHOA, okay, he's on a mission. So he's on a mission.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Tyrese Haliburton this season, this season, not just the playoffs,
this whole season, he is ten for eleven. That's ninety
one shooting. He's ten for eleven when taking a shot
to tie or to take the lead in the final
ninety seconds of a game. This year, he's ten for eleven.
How is that overrated? He might be he's the most

(27:31):
clutch player.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Did they vote at the beginning of the year the
end of year? Well, I think you got a bunch
of salty little players out there.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
I think you got a bunch of guys that just
don't like Tyres all.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Those flavors, and y'all chose salts.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
Because you can't argue with those numbers. He's led two
comebacks that have only happened.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
On Jordan's done that they have the grades up there,
ten for eleven and in a season.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
And again, when you're the main ball handler, it's not
like you're taking it's not like your shack and you're
ten for eleven. Yeah, it's not like you're I mean,
Duncan further out than Shack, but still a big man.
It's not like like t that shot he made last night.
It was a step back three pointer. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Yeah, he was sitting there looking for the line. He
was like, where's the line? Okay, let me get back,
and he's got two in his face and like boom,
just knocks it down. Oh I see, I didn't see it.
I called you to.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Uh yeah, we were watching it lot like, and I.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Was driving around trying to race home to like, you know,
at least catch the Minnesota Lake Minnesota Warriors game. And
he's like, oh my god, and he's going off on me,
and I'm like, what's going on. He's like, you're telling
me you didn't just see Holliburn take over.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
I thought you you called me five seconds after he
hit that shot. I thought that's why you were calling me. Instead,
you were calling me because you got you got run
sheet idea. Yeah, I got my which we will get
to because I did get caught up on something you
told me to watch. But yeah, no, I I thought

(29:09):
you were calling because you were as here's the like
we've we've been talking about how these NBA and NHL
playoffs have been great for the casual fan.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
I think the the.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Measurement of enjoyment is when I'm watching whatever the sport is.
When I'm watching a game where I have no emotional
connection to either team, it has no impact on who
the team I like is going to play next or
anything like, I have no connection to Pacers, Cabs, whatsoever.

(29:42):
But I watching that because I like basketball, and it's
just like I'm gonna watch it. But the casual fan, buddy,
if if a game like that that you have no
connection to can get you to literally jump off of
your couch and scream as I did when Halliburton hit
that shot, That's how you mentioned it. It's been a.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Great That's how you get that man.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Game.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Been a great week for that was the first games, right,
that was.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
The early and then then it was Warriors TEA Wolves
where Steph Curry leaves after thirteen.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Minutes and the Calves and UH Pacers is going to
go up on next game?

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I would well, I think there's no question about that
because I think a lot of people were If you
look at all of the matchups, you know, Nick Celtics
is waist sexier than Cobs Pacers in the East. The
history Nuggets Thunder is sexier at least because you have Jokic.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Thunder were so good this year. Warriors, te Wolves.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
You've got Aunt, You've got Steph, You've got Draymond, You've
got some you had draws, you had stuff. But so
I think out of all of the four matchups on paper,
you would have said Pacers Calves is the least exciting.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Yeah, and that was That was one of the most
exciting endings of a game.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
It's been one of the best two games so far
of a series in forever.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
I still can't believe that stat that it's crazy that
they own both of them this.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Year, this year, in the last eight days.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
And nobody's done it since old team.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
I'm almost positive that's the other one. And then I
mentioned Yeah, for the first time in NBA history, all
four road teams won game one of the as a
conference semis.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
That's been a theme. There's been a lot of like
nobody's winning at home.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
I think, well, a big part of that is, I
know for basketball, I don't know about Howckey. I don't
have the numbers off the top of my head, but
a couple last season I read a long, long article
that specifically talked about how home court advantage is not
nearly what it used to be, and they went into

(31:46):
a lot of guesses of why, you know, travel is
so much easier on players now you're not you know,
the usually when you're playing a team on the road,
you traveled late to get there, or don't you get
two days break. Now in the playoffs it doesn't matter
as much. And this was more about talking about regular season,
But it does seem like I don't think you're I

(32:07):
think what you're feeling allegorically actually does have some proof
in the data.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
I think that they also I'm wondering if, I mean could,
but I'm wondering if because they're starting to do like
Spurs rockets.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Back to back.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah, they've gotten games of the same team, which I.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
Hate in the regular season because I don't want to
see like I just saw you play them two nights ago,
unless unless it's a good.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Game there's some animosity, and then you're like, you can't
wait for that second game.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
That's fair, that's fair, And I think that's I think
I might have just stumbled into the realization I've been
watching bad basketball from my favorite teams lately where it's like,
if I watch the Spurs get their teeth kicked in
by the thunder, I don't want to see them play
them again two days.

Speaker 6 (32:58):
Last last season, in the first seven games, the Spurs
played the Rockets three times.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
That's right. Yeah, that's terrible. That's ridiculous, that's awful, that's all. Yeah,
it's terrible.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Scheduling terrible, and too the first two were home games
for the Spurs, back to back.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
That's right. That's even weird.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
It's like the scheduling has been.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
You don't get to see the team in their later stage,
when they're peaking, you know, later in the season, because
you already played them at the beginning of the season.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Well, you know, I comes down to them two trying
to get into the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
It takes that away. Yeah, And it's not only that,
but it's also just natural rivals too, So like you've
already played one of your biggest rivals three times in
the first week of the season. Yeah, Like, yeah, you
gotta like if it had been if it had been
like Spurs magic for three times to start the season,
I wouldn't feel nearly as bad.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
The Houston Rockets, and that would have been like everybody
knew Houston was gonna be good. You got Emai Doka.
If we're talking just talking the beginning of the season
and you have Ema versus Pop Padawan versus the Master,
you know, then you got winby. We were supposed to
be a playing game. We're supposed to be uh A,

(34:11):
shooting for a play in, trying to do for a playoff,
and so was Houston. And they scheduled all three of
those in the first quarter of the first.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Season months, first three weeks, first three weeks.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah, that was horrible.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Yeah, it feels like you still get you get that
way more in baseball, where like right like right now
Rangers are playing the Red Sox. They don't play the
Red Sox again the rest of the season, so like there,
but you know, not within.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
The expected the Rangers to do much this year.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
What are you talking about? They were startling. I got
I drank too much of the kool aid. I started
to because everyone everyone was everyone was like, oh, their
offense is going to be back to World Series levels.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Yeah, you're pitching, was you're pitching. Your starting rotation is
good and.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Again on paper, hit the ball, can't hit the ball. Yeah,
one other thing real quick before I handed off to y'all.
I don't feel like we talked enough about that Nuggets
Clippers game seven where James Harden didn't he attempted like
four shots.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Oh, because he was getting bashed in the media. Man,
he think he's a little poudy.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Little I heard, and I've defended Harden yeah many times
over the years, because he is a former MVP, he
is a former scoring champion. He is a guy that
has an offensive skill set that few people that have
ever played the game of basketball possess. He is a
special player. He's like a Luca. He was the back
in the day Luca. He's a lot like Luca the.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Twenty times well that he could get a shot off,
he gets you in the.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Air, and he couldn't play and he wouldn't play defense.
So you know, the comp is, the comp is pretty good.
But I heard I can't remember who I heard say it,
but James Harden has played in like one hundred fifty
something playoff games. Oh yeah, in fifty of those he
has attempted four shots or less. How does that happen?

(36:09):
In a third of James Harden's playoff games in his
career in general, he's taken four shots or less in
a third of his playoff games. Ever, how does that? Yeah,
I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Can he does not play double team like he just
he does not like being double teamed.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
I guess again, I've defended Harden. No, I've defended Harden
enough over the years that as soon as I heard
that stat got crazy care and fifty games. Yeah games,
he shot it, he shot it four times or less

(36:50):
or less. There's somewhere, yeah, man. And again going back
to that Nuggets Clippers series, that was a game seven
and you shot the ball four times and he wondered
why he's like journey thousand. But it made me think
you mentioned the Rockets and going back to the you
know Harden on those Rockets years, if they had just
made one three pointer instead of missing what was like

(37:10):
twenty seven straight or whatever it was in that one game?
Not was it not that one? Or maybe it was
that one? I can't. I think it was after that one.
I think that was.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Yes, it does. It counts as a mishot block.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
But besides all the sports viewing, it's been been playing
a lot of PG. The new PGA golf game on PlayStation.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
It is did Tiger take it back?

Speaker 1 (37:38):
Yeah, Tiger's been back. I think it's uh, it's worth
getting back into golf. Golf games are one of those.
Like I play golf maybe twice a year. Maybe I
wish I played more, but I just I don't my
poor back man, But golf video games love golf. I
love it, dude. We when I was in college, we
used to have apartment turns where it would end up

(38:01):
I mean we were playing, you know, like betting by
the hole like it like we were out on any
real course and that would end up being that was
how someone ended up paying for all the beer for
the night man.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
But like towards like if after I played it for
about two or three months, I'm shooting twenty under.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah, that's a problem.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
That's I'm wondering, Like, so is it the same kind of.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
You can adjust the so the I fired it up
and I've played all the games before it it's it's
the old golf club games. And I fired it up
in the first round. I think I shot a sixty two.
I was like nine under. So I had to immediately
go in and adjust jack with some of the settings
because yeah, it's not fun to just when I.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Was shooting twenty under in a round, I was shooting
like fifty eventually.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Yeah, it's like it's wee golf where everything's either a
hole in one or a tapping h But no, I've
been playing that would highly suggest if anybody I think
my gamer tag is like, uh, I'll have to look
it up on twitch it out, yeah, because we need
We're gonna start doing some Twitch streams here soon. I've
been playing that in the new somehow. MLB the show

(39:08):
still gets better and better every year.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
I don't know, I haven't played that for a long time.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
It is still, in my opinion, the best sports simulation game.
It is.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Oh yeah, okay, because I remember I stopped playing when
the graphics all of a sudden they were going up there,
and then like I remember Madden and MLB, and then
all of a sudden, it was just the MLB's graphics
just tanks.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
Yeah, there was a bit of a crash and a plateau.
But on PS five they have been well and now
MLB is not just Sony. You can get it on
Xbox and everything too, so uh yeah, yeah, a lot
of it's hard to find time for video games with
all the sports going on, but yeah, we still we
still make away. How about y'all, what do you got
on the list?

Speaker 8 (39:52):
So?

Speaker 2 (39:52):
What games you've been playing? OLG the voice of you
know me.

Speaker 6 (39:56):
I've been playing that NBA two K and I've dreaming
in on Twitch and shout out to all you guys
that have been jumping in and watching me play.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
I love it. What do you I haven't caught a
stream yet. Are you running? Are you just running games
or my team? I'm running?

Speaker 6 (40:10):
Yeah, I'm just running a season with the Spurs, all lady.
Two games and I'm eight games in. That's how I knew.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
What's the record?

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (40:17):
I think I've.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Lost two games? Okay? Yeah, solid six and two.

Speaker 6 (40:22):
That's how I knew that Houston. They played Houston three
times in the first three weeks. Because I had I
had just had to experience that in my season.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
I thought he was like deep diving stats. I'm like
that LG style.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
Yeah, that was that was quick. Recall. Now that you
say that, I should have wondered how the hell did
he have that off the top of his playing.

Speaker 6 (40:40):
Playing the games and the seasons gets you familiar with
the schedule and the teams and the opponent the other teams.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
I'm about to say, like, as a kid, there was
so many times people would ask me like, how do
you know who the starting left fielder is for the
Pittsburgh Pirates. I was because I played the show like
an ejae.

Speaker 6 (40:59):
You see into the bullpen on those games too, so
you know everybody like on the roster for Baseball a
thousand and the show. I've got the show also on
a on Xbox game Pass, so maybe we should do
some cross play.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Sure sounds like we need to.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
I'll jump back in.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
I was about to say, I try to get through
a full season on the MLB Show the last time
I played, and I think I got to like one
hundred and twenty, and I'm like, I can't do it.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
How do you go that far and not fishing?

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Ah Man, I was struggling. I'm playing three games at
a time.

Speaker 6 (41:29):
I say, I say him a bunch of the games
or or or I'll do a shortened season on baseball.

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Yeah, baseball has the the show has the nice feature
where you can just play like the moments the moment. Yeah,
that's good, that's good.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
I was like I'm playing a one hundred and sixty
two man.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
I mean I did that every year as a kid.
Every single year. It was as like the Rangers would
play that night, and I would have I'd either played
the game before, like get home from school, play the game,
then watch the game, or I would watch the game
and played the game.

Speaker 2 (42:01):
I try to get I try to get on what
was it like a fantasy baseball team, just because I
know I'll start learning so much a great other teams.
Because when I got into fantasy football, you know, fourteen
years ago, with all my chips on the wall, but
like it made me learn the third wide out on
Cincy made me learn, you know, the dB on freaking

(42:23):
the Viking.

Speaker 1 (42:24):
I can't wait to get your thoughts on the pickings
trade because of that very reason, because yeah, but we'll
get to that in the main segment. What else, y'all?
What else y'all have watched this.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Week as we's been I'm I am a fan of
Apple TV. Man the studio with Seth Rogan.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
I've been wanting to get on.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
Yeah, two thumbs up, two thumbs up. Man, very many, Yeah,
they very manic, very you know, if you're a cinebuff
They do a bunch of episodes where it's kind of
like themed on different type of thing, like noir type stuff,
the old Perry Mason style. Then you got the I mean,

(43:09):
there's just so much to unpack on each one, and
it's like they really deep dive into the producer, director, actor.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
It's more like it's like inside the actual process.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
It's it's like it's like Entourage, but faster and not bro.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
I was about to say I loved Entourage until one
night I was watching it and it was just like,
what am I doing?

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Yeah, it's not like bro life, but it's definitely more.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
A little bit of bro life is good for you
too much. It is toxic, but nah, but it's I
recommend that.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
And then you got John Hammond, Olivia Munn and the
friends and neighbors that you'll start learning about rich people,
how ridiculous they.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Buy stuff like a burker bag, Like what the okay,
what I'm already I'm already out.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
You already have to buy a bunch of stuff first
to even have the option to buy the burka bag,
which is the crown jewel for all these women, these
little rich and titled women. But you're you're not eligible
to buy it unless you sit there and buy all
this other craft first. And I'm like, I would have

(44:24):
never known that if this if this thing, then this
show did not teach me this.

Speaker 1 (44:28):
This fill is exactly how I felt about like succession.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
Yeah, exactly, I don't want, I don't need lifestyle.

Speaker 1 (44:35):
I have no absolutely no desire to see any part
of that lifestyle whatsoever. That lifestyle is what is bankrupting
our country. Like that lifestyle, I have no desire to
learn more about how the rich just continued to talk
about the rest of us.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
A wine, a wine savant grower that sits there and
does something with their grapes, and it was a nineteen
ninety four to thousand and four in the bottles seventy
thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
I'm like, and I bet it didn't taste that much
different than Fransia.

Speaker 2 (45:07):
Yeah, if you put a box wine and that wine
in front of me, I wouldn't know, you know what?

Speaker 1 (45:13):
I Yeah, I just don't have I don't have the
literal palette for that, and I don't have the figurative
mental palate to watch that.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
They did sit there and spoof on the people who
like sit there and get all the nose and do
all that kind of good stuff. Little amsrh but like
and then they show the guy doing it, and you're like, man,
for one of those guys, you're already a douchebag.

Speaker 1 (45:36):
Yeah, there's no recovery, Like, I've already gotten enough from you. Well,
before we get too far behind the clock, we will
save I know this is gonna hurt some feelings, but
we will save the exploding Well video from nineteen seventy.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
We'll put that on the back burner.

Speaker 1 (45:52):
That's such a good one because we have got to
get to the main segment tonight before we do. I
want to remind y'all if you're listening to the audio
version of this show, absolutely appreciate it. It's really cool
to see the numbers haven't been affected since we've started
doing these live on YouTube. The downloads are still growing

(46:16):
and getting bigger, and when we're talking since we have
real vps out there a month ago. I think the
first one we did was April first or the last
day of March, and each episode has continued to climb
on the audio side. So if you are listening to
the audio version here, still go to YouTube and give

(46:36):
us a give us a like on all these videos,
give us a subscription, need the subscription to get that
YouTube ad. Trying to get you to get that YouTube ad.
LG remind me we are we need to get to
five hundred and we're a hair under three right now.

Speaker 6 (46:52):
Yeah, we get five hundred will activate the super chats
and then when we get a thousand, will activate some
ad revenue.

Speaker 3 (46:58):
And yeah, that's how YouTube works.

Speaker 6 (47:00):
But if you want to leave a tip right now,
you can do that at buy me a Coffee dot
com slash at sports Cave Live and yeah, we appreciate
you if you do leave one there.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
And that is not just when we're live, correct.

Speaker 6 (47:13):
That's anytime, anytime you want.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
Yeah, that helps us keep this thing going because obviously
UH got the support of iHeart, but the support of
your is UH is also appreciated. We need as well.

Speaker 6 (47:26):
We want to buy some new microphones and we want
to get rid of these these little you know, West
telemarketing headset.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
And you'll see that's the thing. If you do buy
us a coffee, if you do throw us a little
bread money, a little change, UH, you will notice changes
in the production.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
We will, yes, we will. We are money is going
straight to this. We're not going to take any of it.
We want to buy a gear, we want to we
want to update the studio, hopefully these headphones.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
I kind of like the headphone, right, Well, I might
keep the headphone. Well, we'll YouTube microphones first. With the
buying of coffee money. But again, I feel tethered down.
I like to move, give us you get it light
on your feet. Well, it's like the It's like the
old line from heat, never be too attached to something
you can't walk away from in thirty seconds where you

(48:16):
feel the heat.

Speaker 2 (48:17):
Yeah, this big man move.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
One of the greatest lines in movie history. Uh so yeah,
go uh YouTube at sports Cave Live. Give us a
subscription totally free, won't cost you anything, uh and absolutely
helps us out. So tonight we're gonna talk some general
trade talk because I already had on the run sheet

(48:43):
the rumors with the Spurs potential trade targets this summer
are starting to heat up. But then, damn it, if
the cowboys didn't just go out and shoot my wheels
off and actually make a trade that makes them better
at midnight? Is that when it went through o'clock.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
Midnight, dude, and I was like, I heard that. I
saw the buzz with all my little apps, you know,
because I have a like fancy football apps, and yeah,
and they're like, they're in talks to trade with of
course if we want to let everybody know. They got
George Pickens from uh price? They paid paid a price
from the Steelers for him. Well, they're paying his ticket,

(49:23):
they're paying his salary. But what they got in return
was nothing. A third round pick, oh for okay, a
third round pick for a stud wide receiver.

Speaker 1 (49:36):
So they traded. I'm I'm jaded because I think about
when I think of wide receivers, like Jerry traded Amari
to the Browns for a fifth round pick, and that
was stupid, and that was stupid. So I'm I'm I've
got to get that out of my head when I
think about these because the Steelers, uh, what was that
last year or two they got a second round pick

(49:57):
for Claypool, the receiver that never blost with them. We've seen,
uh you know, when A j. Brown went to the Eagles.
That was a bigger hole than this. Obviously he was
a more accomplished, accomplished no commodity. Well, I mean, Pickens
is only twenty four. Well, no not, I'm not talking
about it. I'm talking about Mark Cooper.

Speaker 2 (50:18):
Yeah yeah, oh yeah, everything got Marik Cooper is like
the most soft spoken, just put his head down and
work type of guy there wouldn't get there. So there
was just I don't think there was any locker room drama.
I think that was locker room drama with Pickens one
thousand percent. And that's why I think you only get
a third round pick for him. He destroyed his own
value for the.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
Team because he wanted out.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
Because he wanted out, And this is where I think I.

Speaker 1 (50:44):
Think he wanted Shador. I think if you're I think,
if you're a potential guy that views yourself as a
top tier wide receiver, I don't think you want a
rookie quarterback at all. But I'm not sure you want
that either. I mean, whether he got Mason Rudolph, well.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
He just wanted out of Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
I mean they had uh I heard, you know, the
guys that had thrown uh passes to him the last
it was like, you know, Kenny Pickett, Russell Wilson last
year justin field. You know it's looking at it's It
reminded me a lot of when the Browns had Gordon,
the receiver from Baylor who led the league in receiving

(51:24):
one year when he was in Cleveland and he had
like three quarterbacks. Yeah, well he would have been fine. Nowadays,
it's not nearly a strict but I probably still really think.
I really think that. I don't think that's an overpay.

Speaker 2 (51:38):
No, because well, no, that's not an overpaid. I think
that I think that's an underpay. I think he could
easily got a second if there wasn't. If I think
he would have. I think he was saying I'm holding out.
I think he just already put it out there. I'm
holding now. He was already causing Trump problems. I think
he sat there, probably pissed off. Coach Tomlin been like,

(51:59):
you we got we got Shador who's actually very accurate,
even though he doesn't have the arm strength of one.
You know, cam Ward, you know I got that right.

Speaker 1 (52:09):
Well you're thinking, yeah, but you're thinking, is Cleveland not no? No,
But that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
But Pittsburgh could have got in the fourth round.

Speaker 1 (52:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
I think he's sitting there fuming. Every time he's slipping down,
He's like this guy's more accurate than the bums I
got on on the roster now, and I think he
just straight up went in there and just started running
his mouth, calling them all sorts, you know.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
Which is in a weird place because they make the
trade for DK Metcalf at the beginning of the off season.
They don't invest in the quarterback position. Uh you know,
they let Wilson and Fields both.

Speaker 2 (52:48):
Walk, so it feels like they're they're waiting for next year.

Speaker 1 (52:51):
They're waiting for next year, and they're locking up DK
as their guy to pair with whoever they end up investing.

Speaker 2 (52:59):
They wanted to. They still they wanted DK and Pickens,
and then they wanted to sit there and pay get
a quarterback for next year. Pickens didn't want to wait.

Speaker 1 (53:07):
Yeah, it's hard to argue with. It's hard to argue with.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
You talk about the Spurs way you got the Steelers
wait exactly.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
And that's where when you mentioned if you get cross
with Tomlin, you're out of there the next day. You
don't even have twenty four hours.

Speaker 2 (53:20):
And in the midnight trade, I think something happened that
day that wouldn't surprise.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Me if we learned that here in the next forty
eight hours. But let me convince you that it's an overpay.
Let me try to convince you. Okay, so Pickens is
in need of a new contract. You're not going to
get him at a discount. He's going to ask for
a premium. So you've got you all. Yeah, maybe not

(53:51):
somewhere in that second tier receiver money. Not the market
setting guy. But I think he's he's not gonna get.
He's not going to get a CD deal, but he's
gonna get.

Speaker 2 (54:01):
I think the I I think he's in there looking
at you.

Speaker 1 (54:06):
Yeah, God, he did, didn't he he did? I forgot.
I think not Washington, in Washington.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
I think Pickens looked at that and was like, I'm
better than you.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
You're not, I don't think. I don't think so you're
younger maybe, but okay, So you're gonna have to You're
gonna have to pay immediately after this season. So you're
not getting a guy that is locked up. You're gonna
immediately have to shell out money to resign him. It's
a guy that, uh, you saw last year him rip

(54:43):
Jordan Lewis's face mask, rip his helmet off when the
Cowboys played the Steelers. You've seen how much of a
menace this guy can be to one of the most
well run organizations in all of professional sports. He's a
wild card, so I think how to pay and his
somewhat volatile nature within the organization. And then on top

(55:08):
of all that, you gave up a fourth round pick
for a receiver last year, so you didn't have a
fourth round pick in this draft. You've now given up
a third round pick in next year's draft. You also
give up a fifth round pick in the twenty twenty
seven draft. Yeah, and you do get the Steelers sixth
round pick back. But that's a balance to control.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
You're convincing me a little bit.

Speaker 1 (55:32):
It's just it's a risk. A third round pick as
a risk. It might not be an overpay, but it's
a massive, massive risk.

Speaker 2 (55:40):
I think we might see the Steelers go under five
hundred for the first time in Tomlin's career just so
they can get that quarterback, Which makes that third round
pick a little bit more valuable because you're gonna get
that third round pick at the top of the draft
instead of in the middle where they've been stuck in purgatory.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
For well, you're getting but you're only getting their sixth
round pick back they're getting the Cowboys third round pick,
which asked, So, let me ask you this, how much
does how much do you think but you're with it,
how much do you think Pickens actually changes things? Because
I saw the Cowboys Super Bowl odds, right, Cowboys Super
Bowl odds before the trade were plus seventy five hundred

(56:22):
after the trade plus seven thousand, So it barely moved,
barely moved.

Speaker 2 (56:26):
Barely moved, I mean because your defense is still.

Speaker 1 (56:29):
Trash and who knows, well, that's yeah, we're gonna talk
a lot about that in the fall. I can already
I can already see it. But when Vegas tells you
that addition doesn't move their line a whole lot, they
know better than anybody. They know better than anybody how
much he makes a team better. And they say, eh,

(56:49):
he's not the best route runner. He can do it.

Speaker 2 (56:51):
He can make amazing catches and throw them up the ball,
but like ceedee, Lamb laps them on the route running.

Speaker 1 (56:57):
And that's actually to talk myself back into the trade.
That's why I love it. So Pickings had the most
catches of twenty yards or more where the ball was
in the air for twenty yards or more. He tied
with Justin Jefferson last year. So you think he's gonna
be over the top, He's He's what Michael Gallup was
supposed to be. He's supposed to be that six foot three,

(57:19):
over the top, complimentary receiver he plays.

Speaker 2 (57:24):
He plays taller than he is because he with the
with the amazing hands and the amazing.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Yeah he's listed six to three, he plays like six.

Speaker 1 (57:33):
He plays like Claypole looked, but Claypole played like he
was six to one.

Speaker 2 (57:38):
Good games.

Speaker 1 (57:38):
Yeah, that's it was it. So I I think if
you're talking the compliment to the personnel that's already there,
I think he's the ideal type of receiver you want
to put next to ced lamb CD's gonna be still
working the slot, still work in the middle, along with
Ferguson or the tight end spot.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
And now you have someone.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
Who he can't just put one person on pick INDs.

Speaker 1 (58:02):
Thousands of time. Well, now you've got to have deep
cover whereas safety's got to stay back. But which opens
up all of that run round.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
But who's going to run the ball? Javante, Well we'll
get to that.

Speaker 1 (58:15):
Don't sleep on Jayden Blue the more I think more,
the more I think about he's not going to be
a he's not going to be their leading ball carrier.
Well and if that, if that's the case, then we're
really in trouble.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
Yeah, because that's the problem.

Speaker 1 (58:28):
Yeah, but I think he's going to be a bit
of a potential game breaker. But they're at least starting
to accumulate weapons that actually fit, like Brandon Cooks. They
made the Brandon Cooks trade two years ago. I never
really saw it. I mean, on paper, had a couple
of years and you know, but there's a reason he
played on seven teams. Yeah, you know, there's a reason

(58:50):
he might not. I think it was only five or six.
But I mean when a receiver gets passed around that much,
even when they have one thousand yards, see, it kind
of tells you what the organizations think of him, and
they seem day to day. I think Pickens, Pickens and
C the one two of CD and Pickens, I think

(59:13):
you can put up there with anyone else in the
league right now of one to two punch when it
comes to receivers.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
I think they're easily in the top ten.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
Easily top ten. You could talk me into top five.
Not top three or anything I've saw. I've seen a
bunch of people run. Cowboys now have the best one
to two punch. It was like, no, let's not get crazy.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
Still I still whenever we talk the top one two receivers,
I still put the quarterback in that conversation.

Speaker 1 (59:40):
Well, Dak, and and if we're let's talk about Dak
because he's the he's the elephant in the room in
this deal.

Speaker 2 (59:48):
Mobility not there anymore.

Speaker 1 (59:50):
It's not going. And that's why they invest in offensive
line in the draft. Yes, that's why they now have
given him a deep option he needs. If he's getting
he can never been there. It's actually he's one of
the most accurate quarterbacks in the entire league.

Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
He checks down.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
But the accurate talk about brock number there.

Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
You talk about guys that are putting it consistently in
the catching window more than any quarterback. Dak is always
in those top five rankings. When you talk about deep balls,
Dak is always in the top three in the league
in deep ball accuracy, which again fits perfectly with pickings,
so to speak. So give me Dak has his massive
faults and limitations.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Don't get lost accuracy. So I'm gonna I'm gonna poke
a hole with your accuracy.

Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Please go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Is they've been down and they give like and when
they're down three scores and they got five minutes left,
was the defense soft give give you the middle of
the field and that pass his accuracy by I least
in my opinion six to seven points.

Speaker 3 (01:00:51):
I don't disagree.

Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
But I also think when you watch the games, I mean,
I don't watch Dak and think accuracy is his number
one issue at this point. I don't see that as
what is holding the Cowboys back.

Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
I don't see this a number one strength.

Speaker 1 (01:01:08):
Though, no no doubt, And to be honest, I think
his number one strength has changed significantly with all the injuries.
He's not nearly what I mean. You go back to
Dak last year at Mississippi State, dak first year with
the Cowboys, when he won thirteen games. He is a
completely different quarterback at this point in his career physically,

(01:01:31):
and I think that's where some of the evolution, whether
you want to admit it or not, at you being
the metaphorical Cowboy fan or NFL fan, I think if
Dak was the quarterback for the Rams or the Seahawks,
or the Saints. I don't think we would nearly. We
would think of him nearly.

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
The same way I would like to do his stats
on his quick throws, like you know how like to
it gets to go, Yeah, it gets.

Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
The ball out of long now way because he's still
at times playing move that, Pocky move that. But all
of that, all everything we just said absolutely being true
him for the who's the last weapon he had that
could go over the top like it was Michael Gallup

(01:02:19):
and that Gallup is yeah, three quarters of what Pickens is.

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
The last time he had two great receivers was a
Mark Cooper in CD's first.

Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
Year, and how and how did that work? It was
they were best the number one offense with Kellen Moore
offensive coordinator now head coach of the Saints. So I
think it's easy.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
It's easy to definitely in a better situation.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
And that's that's where I think the that conversation. Now
you're out of excuses, dude, Like if Pickens comes in
has his head on straight and is a is a
solid complimentary one a receiver to c D.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
But who's going to be in his ear to keep
them straight?

Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
I did the rookie the rookie, the rookie QB that's
supposed to be an intern.

Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Basically Jerry Jerry, Jerry's don't keep them in line? Okay,
time out? And that's that's hold on the Jerry thing.
How soon we forget who kept? Who kept? Does Bryan
in line? Tony wasn't Tony? Nobody kept like it was Jerry.

(01:03:28):
It was Jerry telling, does you gotta get rid of
the monkey? You got? You gotta you gotta stop going
to That was lucid Jerry. Yeah it was. That was
a different Jerry, no doubt. But I just I'm not
as sold. We see this all the time in the NFL,
where a guy is disgruntled but has immense talent, gets

(01:03:48):
a change of scenery, and in more sports than anywhere else,
I think the NFL, you see these guys all of
a sudden rebound to what they should be what they sometimes.

Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
You know, when you get onto the new team, new thing,
you know, you get the whole new mentality also. But
then if things start falling apart where we are in
Dallas exactly we are in Dallas. When things start falling apart,
all behavior starts coming back again.

Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
I think it could I think the the pressure and
the environment of what it means to be a Dallas Cowboy.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Picking seems like a guy.

Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
That is either absolutely built for that wants it all
the spotlight. I'm a I'm a diva receiver, give me
all the attention that being a Dallas Cowboy yets or
it's it's the opposite of the I'm not getting enough touches.
The offense isn't to my liking. I'm not gonna re
sign here, you know. Yeah, and that's gonna drawn out

(01:04:44):
contract extensions. It could could. I think that's gonna be
explosively good or bad.

Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
I think he's going from a number one receiver to
being the number two receiver. Yeah, let's see how he
handles that in the atmosphere of Dallas.

Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
Yeah, these are all valid concerns.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
I see one. I see it playing out one way.
If you're the Cowboys, though, you make that and I'm
here for it. If you're the cowboy here for it,
you take that risk. Yeah, I mean I mean for
a third rounder exactly. Yeah, you take the risk again.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
Yeah, if it had if they had gotten him for
a fourth and a fifth, Yeah, and didn't get the
sixth round pick in return. I would be over the
moon about this trade like that, I would feel a
lot different. You're basically you're trading a pick in the
first one hundred picks of next year's draft. Yeah, pickings
better be you better be here five years and producing

(01:05:41):
eleven to thirteen hundred yards a season, because it's not
you just gave the ways order. You just gave away
a top one hundred pick in the draft for a
for him.

Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Yeah, and like picks.

Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
Are extremely valuable.

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Man, I wonder how, I wonder how.

Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Especially if this thing goes tits up?

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
So we know the shot. Yeah, we know the QB
is a deep deep in the draft. Now, is it
a deep draft for wide receivers? I believe so because
this is an off.

Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Year and it feels like every year is a deep
year for wide receivers nowadays. This year, this year was horrible.
Well yeah, okay, yeah, that's fair. That's fair. That's fair. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Ye, That's what I'm thinking, Like, is it gonna jump
up like it was two years ago, where you know
you had five receivers, six receivers going in the first round.

Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
Yeah, you know, now you could this again, this could
be this could be a trade where we say this
sets the Cowboys back for five years.

Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Yeah, it could be a guy.

Speaker 1 (01:06:32):
That is a huge part of winning the division a
couple of times over the next five years. But uh,
I think if you're the Cowboys, you have you had
to do it. Yeah, because I like the pick. Yeah, yeah,
I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
Bear with me, man, I hate when I agree with
the Cowboys. I like to pick for the price. I
said it. I will never say it again.

Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
On the record.

Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
We haven't. We had scrap that scrap, dump all that,
dump this whole segment, dump this whole segment. No, I
you know, thinking about the split. If it's a three quarter,
if he's getting you know, if CD's catching a hundred
balls and he's getting eighty, Yeah, he's gotta be okay

(01:07:19):
with that, right, Yeah, you know, because like what's that
ratio need to be to keep him happy?

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Because I think he needs at least seven to ten
targets a game.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
And yeah, it's tough order. That's a tough order. When
you got CD.

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
That's why I said, like, the Cowboys are building a
run game, they're building a passing game, and you got
it in Mobile Quarterback. And it was good that they
picked up a bunch of offensive linemen, but they're unproving just yet. Yeah,
and you're losing your two best guards. If you're losing
two guards, so yeah, you're you're building a passing first

(01:07:55):
offense once again.

Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
Yeah. Well, and that's what has been successful for him. Uh,
they've been good. What no, Zeke? The run first play
action was their best successful years Zeke z Yes, but
they're still we're leading the league in passing those years.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
Because because Zeke was such a dominance, it brought the
linebackers up, it brought the safeties up, and then you
had people going over the top.

Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
Two words, Jaden Blue, No, I'm kidding, kidding, the only
the one last thought on it. He does join the
list of Cowboys that need contract extensions.

Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
Yeah, Micah first at the top of that list.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Is he getting paid before the season. Yes, it has
to because he's not going to play. He's gonna hold
out record breaking contract. Yes, yeah, I know, I trust me.

Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
We've talked about Deron Bland and the them investing in
corner because it doesn't look like they're going to give
him that deal, but he will be up. And then
before you realize, Tyler Smith is going to need an
extension in two years, you got one franchise tag. All
of a sudden, the money is you know, the DA money,
the CD money, the soon to be Mica money. Yeah,

(01:09:13):
all of a sudden, the money is going around so much.
How much can Pickens get.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
As it's like, oh, this is a good problem. Yeah,
y'all aren't in a good problem now because you're not deep.
You don't have people behind them there showing up.

Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
And that's why Pickens has all the leverage to ask
for that number, to say like, look, you just gave
up a third round pick for me, but you want
to pay me.

Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
They don't pay him. He's also great trade bait. Yeah,
they can get a third round back form.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Well no, at that point he'd be out of contract.
They would have to trade him in weeks six. Frank, Well,
how much were they think they would franchise a franchise
that would that.

Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
Would be around like a forty million dollar franchise. Well, no,
it's the average of the top five.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
So I think we are everyone is five over forty now,
or at least right they're close to it. Maybe you
could get it down to like thirty eight, but it's
gonna be somewhere close. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what I think.
That's a very realistic outcome. So I think I think
would get the franchise tag if they can get the
deals done with with obviously Micah, but then Pickens.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Maybe as a linebacker.

Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
Well, the NFL, the NFLPA is not playing that game.
They they quickly remind teams. They quickly remind teams what
position guys actually play. And then other side of the
trade talk we have here locally, the rumors for the
Spurs actually swinging for a big name. You're starting to

(01:10:46):
see reputable reporters attached the Spurs name to I mean
not just one guy. I mean you're seeing it from
multiple compots. So obviously I think Janie Jannie is the
most appealing. But we mentioned this on Monday, and you
can take care of us.

Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
He could take care of our center needs, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:11:07):
Well, he would allow Wemby to be more of it,
to move seven foot seven shooting guard like he wants
to be. But I mentioned it Monday just in passing
because I didn't think there would be much pushback. If
you're getting Yannis in a trade, you're giving up Steph Castle.
The Bucks are not gonna do that deal because the box.

Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
But I don't want to give him them that's the question.
Can't give him up?

Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
But why completely? It's it's really raw to think about
right now. But Jannis has been top three in MVP
voting every year for the last five years, and he's
showing no signs of slowing down. He's gonna finish third
again this year, behind Jokich and Sga.

Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
Just the just he's only thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
The end season progression of how much better he got
after the first three months to where he became Rookie
of the Year, and we want to be young.

Speaker 1 (01:12:02):
There's no way he's not old.

Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
And the I mean for or for a big man.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
Yeah, and for the physical nature and the explosiveness that
Yiannis plays with. I hear that to a certain extent.
But I also think no offense to Stephan Castle. If
you're talking about potentially getting the second or third best
basketball player on the face of earth, everyone but Wimby
has to be thought about at least everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
But and then you got Fox, I got I get.

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
And the commitment to Fox long term because here that
would you're three for the next six years.

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Because Stead would be Castle is a natural point right,
he can play.

Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
He played point a lot high school growing up, and
then played off ball Yukon and then got put back
on the ball more and then obviously Spurs used aim
more on ball.

Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
But you're big three.

Speaker 1 (01:12:58):
If you gave up Cast in any potential Yannis deal,
Wimby Jannie Darren Fox. Yeah, that's that's pretty good, man,
that's pretty good. And if you're stopping yourself from getting
Yannis because you want to keep Steph Castle, so then
you're looking Wimby Fox Castle and whoever you get with

(01:13:20):
that first pick in the draft.

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
You can't throw them kel then we can't.

Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
Throw not enough man, not for that level.

Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
So mean Champagne.

Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
Here's where I agree with you, though, because the other
name that the Spurs are most associated with as of
right now is KD. I would not even consider touching
stuff Castle in a KD trade. That would be in sad,
that would be stupid.

Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
I don't want to consider getting KD at all. He
is too much. We're talking about the Spurs way.

Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
It's too loud, too loud. Hear CP three was loud
and all the attention and came in about his business.
What do you think kat is a straight assassin on
the court.

Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
He's given, he's one of the most gifted basketball players.

Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
And he's passionate, loves the game like a Spur.

Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
But he gets in his head play that he's still
a millennial.

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Way, he's still a millennial exactly. We don't like that's
not the Spurs way.

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
We don't want the millennial type of thing.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Okay, let me ask you this though. If it was
if it was Kelden and the second of the first
round picks and then filler, but you you kept obviously
Fox Wemby, you kept Steph Castle, you even kept the cell.
This trade wouldn't work because the money doesn't match up.

(01:14:43):
I'm just trying to get your like, where are you
comfortable at any level with or are we just fully
riding that all.

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
We got We got twenty six picks in the next
like four years. Man, Can we just throw them twenty picks?

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Yeah, that would be the basis of it. Because the
son also, they can't take money or anything because Katie's
contract is so well told. You're giving to you're giving up,
you're giving up. So here's the next part of my question.

Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
We get Cooper Flag, we we'll give him Cooper flag
for Yiannis.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
No, you would not, absolutely not. The Duke is coming out.
And if you if the Spurs won the first overall
pick you're talking about, you're giving them Steph Castle before
you're giving up Cooper Flag. That would That's just insane.
Cooper Flag is untouchable for whatever team. No team is
trading out a number one whoever Monday night that you

(01:15:38):
think he's that generation, it's not just me, it's it's everybody. Yeah,
I mean it's one of those years where it is consensus. Now,
could he turn out to be like a Zion where
you see the talent, you see the skill, but it
just doesn't work. Yes, Like I'm not saying he's an
absolute Locke former. Well, well, if he ends up in

(01:16:01):
New Orleans, though, he's gonna be in those same vigne.
It's it's all the same breakfastlopahs as uh and I did.
I forgot to add cheloopahs to my Fiesta food count Monday.
I had had that. It's bad right now? Uh so
you mentioned next Monday, when we walk in here after

(01:16:23):
the NBA Draft lottery, we're gonna know exactly where the
Spurs are picking. I think we'll know if a trade happens.
Not yet, Well, I think we'll start. I think the
draft lottery will start to show up, but it'll show
two months. It's like two months, it's after the after
the finals, but it will start showing a path to

(01:16:44):
what teams might want to move up or down. Oh
yeahs will be made. So my question is, I think
if the Spurs get the number one pick, there's no
one you're trading that pick for. There's I don't think
there's going to be anyone you would take Cooper flag
over trading that pick for Giannis. Yeah. If the Spurs

(01:17:06):
get the second pick, is that pick available in a
trade for Yannis? Who's the second Well, it's it's it.
It's probably going to be Dylan Harper, the kid out
of Rutgers, or Ace Bailey the other kid out of Rutgers.
It could it's going what's their positions? Uh so like
small forward and shooting or shooting Guarden small forward respectively.

Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
There, I think we give up that pick.

Speaker 1 (01:17:32):
Because I mean, that's where it gets interesting to me,
is what's the threshold of Because this is we've been
told this is one of the greatest drafts of the
last twenty years potentially, So in this draft, the fourth
overall pick is kind of like a number one overall
pick in a week draft or a number two overall

(01:17:53):
pick in a in.

Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
An average draft.

Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
Yeah, so you're you're you got to kind of move
the the measuring stick a little bit because if the
Spurs got the second pick in the draft, you're mortgaging.
You still have to pick who you think is the
second best player in this draft. You still are relying
on your scouting, which the Spurs are fine with that
you not.

Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Always trade the pick to where the second best for
one team is not the second best for the second
another team for sure, for sure for what they need.
So we would just be trading the pick and be
like get your best, right. Yeah. Exactly between the group
of like five, six, seven people you know that are
going to be clumped up in there because Cooper exactly,
you know that.

Speaker 1 (01:18:36):
Second tier and it's it's about, you know, depending on
who you read, who you trust in scouting. It seems
like the consensus is Cooper Flag one, Dylan Harper two,
and then there's a group of about four guys that
are going to go some combination between third and sixth Okay,
so that's kind of where a little bit of the unpredictability.

(01:18:59):
But again, if if VJ. Edgecombe, the kid from Baylor,
went second, I wouldn't bat an eye. I think he
might be the best potential. He could go second, he
could go sixth.

Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
Yeah, it's going to basket like a combine or they Yeah,
they do.

Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
A combine and they run little you know, like three
on three, five on five and do all of the
drills and one a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19:22):
So I when it comes to the Spurs, I think
the KD rumors are just that rumors. I don't think
there's mutual. There might be interest from would be, but
I don't think there's mutual. I would be too because
that would shoot all of the wheels off of this
narrative of we're staying patient, we're building with Wenby alongside,

(01:19:42):
we're keeping that in that time, and that's not where.

Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
The Spurs are at. Yeah, so I would be shocked
on that.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
We want to be in the playoffs. We want that,
we want that playoff experience next year, but we're not
We're we're not going to leverage everything for the championship.

Speaker 1 (01:19:57):
Yeah, not not trading assets to make a thirty seven
year old, your second best player on the rock.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
We gotta get we gotta get better in d because
Houston and Oklahoma City are relentless.

Speaker 1 (01:20:11):
Yeah, you don't worry about Dallas anymore, but the rest
of the.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Uh, the rest of the little try and.

Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Really worried about Dallas.

Speaker 1 (01:20:21):
Well with you at least had you had an assassin
like Dallas has nobody that scares you anymore, unlike some
of those you know, unlike speaking.

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Did you hear the what was it as they complained about, Oh,
he drank too much? Michael Jordan. There was a story
where either on the bus and he's like, hey, drop
me off here at this bar, pick me up before
the game. He sits there and they pick them up
and they're like, man, you need to go take a
shower or something. And because he's not like he was

(01:20:52):
drunk off his ass, because he was. And then he
then he goes and drops thirty and he goes to
his teammate and he's like, that's for snitchy because he's like,
don't tell Phil.

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
You know what Luca did as a fat ass semi alcoholic.
He was all proved the first five years of MVP
caliber yeah, MVP caliber without the trophy, the Katie off
the table, the Yannis. If you're if the Spurs don't
get lucky in the lottery, they don't move up, say

(01:21:21):
they stay eighth right where they're predicted. Yea. If you
had the opportunity to take that eight overall pick along
with some other future first plus steph to get Yannis,
I would do that. If the Spurs move up in
the lottery, and the Spurs move up into the top four,

(01:21:43):
then I think we have some conversation. Then I have
some hesitance to be like, well, hold on, we've got stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Castle, the rookie of the year. We love his development path.

Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
He's not. He's not. He's not like a rookie of
the Year like Michael Carter Williams. He's actually a real one.
He's a jim.

Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Getting getting better. He's got his three point percentage, is
getting better.

Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
And the reps are only gonna potentially you would expect
to make that better and they're going to go up.
Then you're bringing in a guy that's top four in
a loaded draft. You're keeping the timeline around Wimby with
guys that are within two or three years of him.
It would be so hard for me to tell the
Bucks no if they were actually willing to trade you honest,

(01:22:26):
because again, when if you have a chance to get
a guy like that, you do it without hesitation. As
long as I mean outside of again, outside of Wimby?

Speaker 2 (01:22:37):
What what? What are we trading? That's the key, And.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
That's that's where I think the real argument comes.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
We will find out mon Monday.

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
This is what I live for in sports, like I
love I love the buzzer, the game winners, I love
the game seven's But give me an offah, give me,
give me trades, give me rumors, give me draft, just
love the draft. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting come next Monday.
Come next Monday. All right, let's do some lightning round

(01:23:07):
before we get out of here. Hit it, lg oh,
I gotta admit, first thing on my list is a pain.
It's a painful one. It hurts.

Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
GTA six got delayed.

Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
I saw that until years this month, next year, it's
gonna end up coming out.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
That's the only game that's bringing me back for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
Yeah, no, it's so. It's it's another one of these
yay boo situations. Boo, the game got delayed, Yay at
least we got the second trailer and the second trailer,
Oh my gosh, where's is taking place in Miami to
my city exactly to DCPD Florida and dude, so we're

(01:23:57):
talking something that's Rocks is added to their games in
the last few years with Red Dead, Redemption two and
now ge that's outside of like Zelda Link to the Past,
that probably is my favorite game ever. The they've added animals.
So when you say Florida, man, they're in there. They're

(01:24:20):
in there. We got the Florida, the Everglades, the Keys,
all of the different Florida, all the different Florida exact
you can swim over to. There's there's rumors. Uh, there's rumors.
But we again, we'll wait an entire freaking The Yankees win.

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
The Yankees win with the walk off in the tenth
in just you see me looking at my phone.

Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
I wondered, I wondered.

Speaker 2 (01:24:58):
Yeah, so we walk out. So we took two out
of three from the Padres and that that's good.

Speaker 1 (01:25:06):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
We like Max Fried through another gym one run. He
gave him a one run.

Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
He did get Fried.

Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
He is isn't it Freed?

Speaker 1 (01:25:18):
Anyway? I like my joke, dam Freed.

Speaker 2 (01:25:23):
He's going to be a contender for the Cy Young
makes me wish we had our cy Young. And then
I'd be like, guess what Dodgers you get the double Bird?

Speaker 1 (01:25:35):
I would say. I would say, just like y'all's Sy
Young Award winner whose sidelined, let's not be given awards
after starting pictures a month into the season. These dudes
are gonna pop tendons and be out for like. It's early. Man,
we haven't even gotten to one hundred three weather.

Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Don't ever say pop tendons around me?

Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Hey, now, all right, give me still mentioned GTA six.
You mentioned taking place in Vice City. Something else that
took place in Vice City? But the real Miami. This
past weekend, the Miami Grand Prix was a Formula One
back on American soil. And was it bad weather? It

(01:26:17):
was rainy. It's Miami, it's Florida, the Formula one. There's
now three races, three Grand Prix in the US. The
first one was Austin Coda, the awesome track, one of
the driver's favorite tracks all year. Wow, they love it.
It's a proper race. We have a world class it's

(01:26:37):
a proper race. Truck. We have world class facilities sitting
in a cow pasture out in the hill country. It's insane.
I love the yachts, of course. Yeah oh yeah, yeah,
they're riding, riding the yachts up the brazzes. Uh to
go all the way to Waco. Now the uh So
that track is awesome, it's great. It's the most attended

(01:26:58):
Formula One event at the year of any race. Wow,
it's amazing.

Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
I guess you can just sell your yacht over there.

Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
The other the other of the three American Grand Prix Vegas.
So you get Vegas, you get They race right, they
shut the strip down, They race right down the strip.
It looks amazing. It's a great display.

Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
Of the American You think at one time.

Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
It's har Monico. It's it's like it's the literally like Monico.
You're racing past the Casino Royal Vegas. You're racing down
the strip. It's a video game. One thousand percent.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:27:37):
Miami, not so much, Buddy, not so much. The track
is literally just the parking lot outside of hard Rock Stadium.
It's at the Miami Dolphins football Stadium. It is They
just turn it's a city circuit track that just goes
around the NFL stadium. It is, oh JANKI it is.

(01:28:01):
You have Miami. You have the classic ocean strip right there.
You could do so many cool things in that city with.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Paul Milles, like have you go right down across the Bay,
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:28:14):
Anything better than just you're literally driving. You're driving through
the parking lot. A Dolphins fan is throwing up pregaming
for a for a Dolphins Chiefs game.

Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
And you got all the Miami bikini girls on the sideline.

Speaker 1 (01:28:30):
There's so much in Miami you could do anything that is.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
I don't know if LG pulled up any picks, but
I watched something amazing with about our minor league teams.
Ah yes, so sweet John Oliver Man, it is amazing
that some of these guys have pulled up on their
mind league. As we know, San Antonio's got the flying Chocolates.

Speaker 1 (01:28:57):
But I was surprised he didn't include that. I was
for it. They missed it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
But you got the trash pandas I want that shirt's spectacular.

Speaker 1 (01:29:06):
It was. It was the rocket trash Panda rocket. So
it's a raccoon in a like rocket ship that's made
out of a trash can, garbage can.

Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
And then they had because they have to do promotions
to get him in, they put toilet seats down into
where you can sit on a toilet seat.

Speaker 1 (01:29:23):
Minor league bits, the best, the best dude, So you
sit on the toy seat and you got the one
guy who's like, I wish I could have used it.
So the guy he is speaking of. If you missed it,
it was a segment in the most recent episode of
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and the guy you're referencing,
not only is he redneck as hell with a yell

(01:29:45):
buck to the man is so comfortable. I was, I
wish I could just use the thing he's sitting on.
It's a toilet. Literally, it's exactly what you're imagining. It's
a toilet in the front row of a baseball stadium.
The best detail of that, do you remember the shirt he.

Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
Was wearing, Oh, hit me with it.

Speaker 1 (01:30:04):
Bunt stuff, but stuff. It's a bun bunt stuff, but stuff,
not to be confused with butt stuff. Yeah. Okay, So
another one of those that you mentioned, another one of
the teams. It was a minor league team in Oregon
and they for one of their games like the missions
do the flying Chonklas. They were the exploding whales, the

(01:30:27):
exploding whales, and that is the video at some we'll
play it. We'll play it next.

Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
Week, next week. And you got the mariachi one yea
where like I don't I forget the word, but it
like it was a slang for yeah, it was. It was.
It was known for marriati Jackie. I'm sorry on the
thing if you know, but it was slang for jerking off.

(01:30:54):
And they said they went around to all the Mexicans
that they knew. I guess I don't know was in
La and they even went to the mariachi bands and
they're like, this is great, we love it. It's like
all of them playing a joke on them.

Speaker 9 (01:31:08):
One white guy is like, hey.

Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
Let's come here. They love it. It means jerking off. Unfortunately. Yeah,
we're gonna have to play the exploding well video. Some
of those shirts, man, we'll pull some. Yeah, we'll pull
some of those images for next week. Hit me with
the interstitial LG, A couple of quick ones, sports quick hits,
Scottie Scheffler tied the PGA Tours jelse any of that.

(01:31:32):
The past week and thirty one under and missed a
putt on eighteen that would have set the record thirty two.

Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
You know how many times I've seen it where they
can video game where they can beat the score, they
can beat the first round and they missed.

Speaker 1 (01:31:45):
By one the last. Yeah, put the I've seen it
so many times. Well again, it's that shows that the pressure,
the pressure of it just between the years was the best. Yeah. Yeah,
because it didn't matter Scotty. That was a cool one
because Scotti, you know, obviously Dallas kid it was the Yeah,
it's well, it's setting up nicely for PGA Championship next week.

(01:32:09):
Was Scotty playing well, Rory playing well, JT even playing
well JT. Justin Thomas won for the first.

Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
Time Rory's he's won there at Coohillo four times. Yeah, exactly,
exactly it's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
And then quickly one other sports quick hit, The Utah
Hockey Club has officially unveiled their team nickname. It's pretty good.
It's actually pretty badass. They are the Utah Mammoth Mammoth
moving forward. Yeah, like uh memoths, no mammoth, like a
wooly mammoth with it. I kind of like it too.

(01:32:45):
I love a nickname. He doesn't.

Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
I want to see I want to see I want
to see the logo, the logo sick. I want to
see the the like the coyote.

Speaker 1 (01:32:54):
The math. Yeah, well, and all of their if you
I was when I was looking at my notes from
BA predictions, looking back at shows I did last October.
I had a note where the Utah Hockey Club had
set the record for beer cells.

Speaker 3 (01:33:10):
At any any event ever in that in the.

Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
Delta Center, because they're so pinned up exactly, and those
beers are probably point it's like it's like watered down
michelob All right, LG, give me one last interstitial before
we get out of here. No, no, no, no oh.
That's a perfect leading of it, because did either of
y'all see the story about the guy who might save

(01:33:37):
hundreds of thousands of lives because he allows himself to
be bit by some of the most venomous snakes in
the world. LG, you have this, we'll close out. We'll
close out with this because LG. Out of the three
of us under well, I guess four of us with
the roommate in the other room, with the four of

(01:33:58):
us under the roof, same roof, here. I think only
one of us has spent extended time in parts of
the world where deadly snake bite is a legitimately legitimate
daily fear.

Speaker 2 (01:34:13):
And he's always trying to get me to go there.
I think he's trying to be fine.

Speaker 1 (01:34:19):
I'm big.

Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
They're gonna I'm a run and fall down, and it's
gonna crawl right on me.

Speaker 6 (01:34:24):
I've never seen a snake anywhere in Southeast Asia.

Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
Really, I'm looking for your deliciousness.

Speaker 6 (01:34:30):
I've stayed in the jungle and I've heard things, and
the villagers have said, yeah, those are just you know,
the giant snakes in the trees.

Speaker 1 (01:34:36):
Don't mind them. But I never.

Speaker 6 (01:34:39):
Actually saw one, but I did hear weird sounds. Yeah,
who knows this guy?

Speaker 1 (01:34:45):
This guy reminds me so much of some of the
old timers I grew up with that would do the
you know, like rattlesnake round ups in Walnut Springs, Texas
or Yeah, they're fun.

Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
I hate some rattlesnake terrible. It's not bad, tastes like chicken.

Speaker 1 (01:35:00):
It's not good, but it's not terrible. A little tough.
So this guy A quick backstory before we will close
out with this the day after nine to eleven? Did
you think I was gonna go? Did you think that's
how this was going to start the day after nine eleven?

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
It's great trust, especially with that drop you're killing.

Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
The day after, this guy decided he's always been an
exotic snake owner. He decided to let two of his
cobras bite him. He had just lost a friend, a
close friend, a week earlier. Is this a tiger kings
it's very very well on that note, roll the roll,

(01:35:46):
the footage lgs.

Speaker 7 (01:35:54):
Not my arm you get and the nice to bring
awordeness for snake bite.

Speaker 1 (01:36:06):
Dude, he looks like, what do you call it? And
when I was doing it looks like like he just
realized that. He looks like we're walking apart. Oh brother, yeah, okay,
oh my god. But Tim looks like he's lost away.

Speaker 7 (01:36:23):
From all the broad recognition that many many different toxins,
and that recognition allowed him to be protected from snake bites.
But we're hoping to do that same protection but not
have to have everyone undergo eighteen years of invitation and
snake bites.

Speaker 1 (01:36:39):
Ultimately, it was like micros a thousand percent.

Speaker 2 (01:36:44):
We can combined with small molecules but he started with
two King cobras.

Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
Yes, deposit real quick. He started with two cobras that
he owned, and so the first one bid him, and
he started to feel woozy. And then when the second ship,
