Speaker 1 (00:00):
So I got a request. This is a request from
an actual listener to the podcast, and I got a
message from them saying, can you guys talk about what
you guys are watching? Because they love when we talk
about what we're watching because it gives them the idea
and they take our recommendations of what we're watching right now.
So we haven't done this in a while. And I

(00:21):
actually need this too because I've recently run out of
things to watch. I was finishing up the what did
I recently finish up? The one that we both were watching? No, no,
not yet. It was the football one receiver Receiver.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I just finished that.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
I took my time on that one. Okay, I took
my time on that one.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
I've already moved on to Hard Knocks, but.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
If you're a smorts sports fan, Hard Knocks, I'm watching
that every Tuesday. And then Receivers on Netflix, where last
season they did just quarterbacks where they followed a few quarterbacks,
this time they followed receivers tight ends. And you know,
I had to watch this one because they highlighted one
of my team was Grey Niners. Yeah, Debo and.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Kittle and Davante Adams is on there, and you're right.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I saw that episode. They dropped Fresnel Stays so many
times in that episode.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
A matter of fact, he met his wife at Fresno.
Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
So Receiver is a good watch if you're a sports fan,
and also Hard Knocks.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, that comes out every Tuesday. I believe there's only
one episode left. They're following the Bears right now, so
that's been cool.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
I like watching all those stuff because it gets you
ready for the season.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, yeah, I'm excited. Which was actually officially the recording
of this podcast a week from today. Yes, first game
of the season. All right, So I brought this up
Presumed Innocent.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Presumed Innocent on Apple TV.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
That's what Jake Gillen Hall sort of a murder mystery
it's based.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
It's based off a novel.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Oh yeah yeah. Eight episodes a mini series, so it's
just one series. I enjoyed it. Episode after episode. It
would end like on a cliffhanger, made you want to
watch the next episode, and.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Then the classic who done it?

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah? Who done it? You know what I'm saying. And
it obviously tries to throw you off, and it could
be this person. I don't want to spoil anything, but
I'll just say I was disappointed with the ending of it.
I was disappointed. I know, we talked about it a little.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I wasn't disappointed, but I get what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Without I was disappointed.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yea. Yeah. And this is not to like try to
show like, oh, I knew I had a towards the
you know you said eight episodes maybe episode six, I
had a because you keep switching of who you think
is gonna be.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
That'd be this person.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Oh no, it's gonna be this person.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
So by episode six you thought you figured it out.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I was at the scene. I was like, but the
funny thing is about that is as you're watching it,
you're saying it out loud. I think it's this person.
I think it's this person. And when I saw this
certain episode in my head, I was like, I think
it's I think this person. Yeah yeah, And then it
ended up being that person. But I never said it
out loud.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
It's I mean, other than that, though, like it was,
it's a solid watch, easy watch, good pay scene.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
I do.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Let me ask you this because when I brought this
up to you, I was the one that told you
to check it out. I don't know if you remember
I warned you about the first episode of how slow
it is for me. It was slow for me to
get into it, gotcha, But this is just the first episode.
It felt like hours to me, and then you were saying, no,
the first episode only forty five minutes. Yeah, I don't
know why the first episode felt so long, but I

(03:33):
was like, where is this going? And then the last scene,
I was like, Okay, you got me. Was it like
that for you a little?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Maybe not as bad as I thought it was, But
I get what you're saying, because first episodes are like
that a lot, because they got to introduce characters and
kind of like set the story and you're you're kind
of figure trying to figure out names, and so I
get what you're saying. And then yeah, at the end,
you're like, Okay, this is definitely good. It's definitely sets
off where the series is gonna go. And then it

(04:03):
kind of ended as a little week to me, but
you know whatever, at least it has an ending, a
satisfying ending. I just didn't really like it. Another one
that I just got on on Netflix. This one is
what is it called again? Worst x Ever? This is new.
This is a documentary style docuseries. Yeah, and every episode

(04:26):
is a different story about like a crazy X. The
stories about these crazy x'es and they're like criminal stories.
And I just watched the first one and I was
just like, Yo, this is this is kind of wow
that there's like psycho people out there, like like Psycho
X's out there, and this is relatively new, like this
was something that happened like just last year type of new. Okay, yeah,

(04:49):
so I just like I said, I just watched the
first one. The first one hooked me right away. I
think there's like three or four episodes, So check that out.
It's up on Netflix. I think it's already trending like
top ten. But it's a docuseries that's new that I
recently got into. I just actually finished this. I know
a lot of people don't have ESPN plus, it's not

(05:10):
really like a it's not really a norm. But you know,
if you have that that Disney package of ESPN, Hulu
and Disney. There's a Serena Williams documentary on there. An
eight part series is actually pretty dope. I forget about
how dope and dominant Serena was and how much she
went through in her career. So it was interesting to

(05:31):
watch to watch that episode. So if you happen to
have ESPN plus, I would highly recommend watching her documentary
it's called In the Arena.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Even if you've watched the movie the one will Will Smith.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, because this that movie was more about Venus I
felt like, and how they when they were like, yah,
you're right, And this one is like solely about Serena
and it goes into like personal life and some things
that she had to go through and a lot of
things that I kind of completely forgot about, Like wow,
like she really won a lot, and I forgot she
had went through this and she had a kid and

(06:01):
she was pregnant while she was playing, and there were
some wild stories in there.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
In the same subject of sports and documentaries. One I
just watched yesterday, I believe because someone a friend of
mine tweeted about it and I forgot. This person is
even gone Steven mcmaren McNair The Murder of Aaron McNair.
Is that the title of something like Aeron McNair.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah, So that's those Netflix documentaries. They're called like Untold,
So those are like what they have. Every episode is
a different story, so it's like untold Steve McNair something.
Oh yeah, right, because they got another one about the
sign stealing that they were doing at Michigan.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I just saw I saw that pop up, so I
was gonna check that out.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
So the Steve McNair one. I was interested in that
story because I remember when it happened.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
I see, I don't, I don't even I thought he
was still alive.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Nah, she well, I think I remembered it happening because
it actually happens maybe like a week after Michael Jackson
had died in two thousand and nine, and that was
a really weird year because a lot of celebrities had
died that year, and I remember hearing about him like
being murdered. Was he murdered? And I didn't quite remember
the story. So I watched this. Honestly, as I was

(07:07):
watching it, it was kind of bored. It kind of
dragged for me, so I kind of just fast forward through,
like what happened, And then when I found out what happened,
I was like, oh, yeah, I think I remember that.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
I think I was. I'm with you. It was sort
of getting door right, But then I so I clicked
to see how much more I had left and it
was like, oh, I only have eight minutes left, let
me just knock it out. So it was you know,
it's it doesn't drag too much.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah, it's like one episode, but I get what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
It was an hour on HBO Max. I just finished Dragons.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Oh House, Dragon House.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, how's I mean? It's cool, it's another.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I didn't like the ending, yeah, because it was a
build up for nothing essentially exactly. It was two episodes
of build up and then it just ended on the
build up, and I was like, ah, that was kind
of disappointing.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Speaking of disappointing, I have a few that I don't
want to say they're disappointing, but I think the gas
just ran out in the tank. But do you remember
Cobra Kai was so big.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yeah, like the first few.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Seasons, everyone could not wait for the next Cobra Kai.
I watched the first episode and I'm like, nope, off it.
I'm off it, Like done. Yeah, it's just there's no
more you know what it is, there's no more nostalgia.
It's done already, so you're.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Only watching it for the nostalle for sure.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
All the characters came back from the original movies, and
now that that's done and they're trying to just create
this new story, I personally don't care for it. So
the new season, I'm off it.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Did you see that they're doing a Karate Kid movie?

Speaker 1 (08:34):
I did I hear about that where they're combining both.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, I'm confused because Jackie Chan's character is mister Miyagi
from the Jaden Smith the Jaden Smith movie, which was
a whole.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Different life at a whole different story, whole different universe.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, and then you got what's his real name, Ralph Maschio. Yeah,
you got his character, which is the Karate Kid from
the original movies, and they're both going to be in
the movie together. I don't see how that's working.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
I will say, I'm looking forward to the preview or
what is it called, the trailer, just to see what
this is all about, because I'm confused to I'm willing
to see what it's about. Karate Kid is one of
my top ten movies growing up of all time, so
I mean, I'm here to see the trailer. Well, I
like it. I have no idea because I'm over Cobra

(09:21):
Kai already, another one that's kind of did the same thing.
Is the Umbrella Academy.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Oh yeah, I remember you get me so.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Into the Umbrella Academy and it's I think season four five,
This one I only watched a few minutes. Maybe I
need to give it a chance, because I'll be honest,
I didn't give it a chance yet. But I guess
the feeling on what I'm trying to say is when
each season came out, I was excited about it. So
when you know what's missing the hype when it's about

(09:51):
to come out. Because I'm just scrolling on Netflix and
he goes new episodes of Umbrella Academy, I'm like.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Oh, where did that come from? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (09:57):
What did it? Usually it's in two weeks, one week
in days. You know, there's no excitement for these new seasons.
At least that's how I'm kind of seeing it.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Did you ever finish Love Island?

Speaker 1 (10:10):
So?

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Which one the USA? No, I've never seen a USA.
Well that's the one that you needed to watch. I
don't know why you watched. Do you watch the wrong one?

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Well, I'll tell you why. I don't have access to that.
I only have access to the one I see.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
You don't have Peacock.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
I don't have Peacock. So Hulu shows Love Island Australia,
and I thought that's what everyone was watching. So I
watched it and I got into it. I was like,
this is this is all right? And then I started
seeing that no one was talking about what I was watching. Yeah,
and I'm like, wait, what is everyone talking about?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
So I was on the same boat of view of
everyone talking about this Love Island. I've never seen any
of them even, like I guess those are spin offs
or whatever. So then I got into this Love Island
USA season six. That was the one that everyone was
talking about, which, by the way, there's thirty something episodes.
I didn't know. It was like they're all our each
I was like, wow, this is like a huge investment.
But I binged it, and I gotta say it was

(11:06):
it was kind of addicting to watch. It's just one
of those shows, you know, it's just it's an easy
watch and there's like some hot girls on there. Uh
you know, they bring on good looking people to kind
of like stir the pot, and uh there was there
was some good drama on it. So I actually went
through it. I kind of enjoyed it, and I actually
caught up right before they did the reunion and uh

(11:26):
yeah it was cool. I'll probably watch it again. So
now I gotta watch it.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Well, how like, man, I got Peacock, bro, I got
paid for Peacock now, Man, too many streaming services.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
There is and and honestly I have like fucking all
of them.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
So the thing I'm looking for right now is a
new series, a new show. But I'm not getting into
anything right now.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Nothing new, no, So we're telling everybody all the ideas,
but now we need some ideas.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Yeah, so if you guys have any you know, you
can either straight up d m us or leave it
on the comments from wherever you're listening to this podcast too. Yeah,
we need ideas to start watching some new stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
All right. We actually went off for a good while
on this one, but it was a good conversation. So
are we getting ready to get into the pod?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Let's go?

Speaker 2 (12:18):
This could give me fire podcast? What up on Gizzo?
That is John Magic and we are back today's guest.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
She's trained over one thousand women here in the valley.
So I'm assuming because I don't know today's guest, which
that's why I'm excited to get to know her. She's
a trainer. She's opened up her gym called bris Fit Training,
where it's an all women boot camp center. Ladies and gentlemen.
Today's guests, Brizzette Lopez, Welcome to the podcast. Say what up?

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Thank you so much you guys. I'm so excited to
be here to talk about my journey. I can't even
believe that I'm here with you guys. I hear you
guys on the radio all the time, and to be
here today is just amazing.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Well, we appreciate you stopping by, So let's go ahead
in let's go to the beginning. Are you originally from
Fresno or where are you from?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
I was born in Tilivista and I was raised in Tijuana.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Oh wow, yeah, okay, So when when did you get
to the States?

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Well, I started going to school middle school in San
Diego and then I moved to Fresno when I turned fifteen.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
So what was the reason for the move to Fresno?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
It was crazy man Tijuana?

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Well, why yeah, there's a.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Lot of killing out there. You know. My dad had
gotten murdered, so oh wow, yeah, it was it was
it was wild. It was crazy for my family. So
my mom's from Farbaugh. So, Okay, she ran away.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
So this is more of like an escape than yeah
we escaped.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
We're looking for us.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Oh wow yeah wow. We should we not have you
on this podcast. Wow tap in with us. All right,
so you moved to Fresno. You said middle school?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Yeah, middle school?

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Okay, what school did you go to?

Speaker 3 (13:54):
I went to Wana?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Oh? Nice? I went to Woana two back in the days. Well,
high school, Fresne High okay, Fresno High. Nice? And then
when where did you go from Fresno High? Did you
go into college after that? Was you know, training something
that was always part of your life and working out
or how did you get into training?

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Well? I mean right after high school, I just started
having babies. I have four kids. I started just popping
all my kids back to back, and I stayed at
the house. I didn't I tried college for like one semester,
and I just wanted to be with my kids. So
I started just being at home being a mom. And
right after that, I stayed at home for about six
six years until my little one turned four she was

(14:36):
young enough to go to daycare. And then from there
I started going to the gym because I I was
really depressed, you know, being very physically active to not
you know, not being able to do anything just you know,
be a mom all day. It was like something I
needed to do. So I started going to the gym
and I just fell in.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Love real quick during that time. Was there a different
career path you were dreaming of about where before the
whole gym thing. I know you said you were a mom,
but you know even before you were mom, was there
a dream to do something else?

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Yeah? I was doing a lot of I worked at
the mall for about five years, so I was doing
a lot of that, like jumping around from store to store.
Started at a KB Toys.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Toys that was the spot right there.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Oh yeah, and then after that got Tawks, Lucky Brand jeans,
and then Bath and Body and I did a lot
of customer service there.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
And was this all at Fashion Fair or fashion their mom? Yeah,
I was a mall rat to I did the mall.
I worked at the mall.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah, you worked at a magic store? Yeah? Man, all right,
So when when did this shift happen to do training? You?
You started going to the gym and you started what
you just became your own trainer.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
No, I just started taking the class. So I became
very obsessed with the spin class. It was like an
addiction for me. What class, spin class? So the class
was at five in the morning. At the time, I
was with my partner or so he had to be
at work at seven, So the class was at five,
which was perfect. I'll get up in the morning at four,

(16:06):
you know, jam to the gym, get a workout in.
And I just started showing up every day. I got
so addicted to the class that it was like it
was it was crazy, like I like it was causing
problems at home. Oh wow, because I needed to be
there real quick.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Let's back up, because you talked about going to going
to the gym because you were depressed. I mean, people
have different ways of dealing with depression. What was it
about choosing the gym to deal with it?

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Growing up? You know, I've always been very into sports.
You know, I did a lot. I did track, soccer, basketball,
some brestling as well. I grew up with my boy cousin,
so I was always outside.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
So you were always pretty active, pretty active.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
So is that what you were feeling? You were just
you felt like you weren't moving anymore, right, very I
had a.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Lot of anxiety at the time, So in my ADHD,
it's crazy till this day. So I think the gym
and AID my ADHD is just just a perfect match
for me. It just works perfectly.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Okay, So going into the gym you said you were
with with your partner, did you know to go straight
to the spin class, because you know, my first time
at the gym, I needed almost like a community, like
a trainer and to kind of guide me of how
to do workouts. What was your situation of why did
you go to the spin class?

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Because the spin class was like a very high cardio class,
and it's just it was just like a high, fast
paced So I was like, Okay, I don't know how
to use these machines. So I'm just gonna go. I'm
going to the class. I'm just gonna follow this instructor
and I'm gonna be the best at it where she's
gonna notice and I'm just gonna be. I don't know,
I just I'm very competitive as well, So it was
just very It was kind of like a I tried

(17:45):
the match.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
I tried to spin. That spin is hard.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
It's not your vibe.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
No, man, I'll stick with the heavy lifting and I'll
do my own cardio, but spin is tough. You haven't
tried spin before.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
I mean, I've done the bike, and yeah, it's not
really my vibe. I'm more of a treadmill person. Like
the stairs, but yeah, that's that's a whole nother workout
because I'll want.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
To stay in the seat. They get you to stand up,
cattle standing up, but you sweat. It works, it works.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
It's just crazy like the workouts. And then just like
you said, it's hard, you know, and just being able
to overcome that and just finish the hour and like
I did it all the way to the hour made
me feel amazing, Right.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
So then this transition into you being a personal trainer
at the gym or what was the next step after that?

Speaker 3 (18:32):
So after that, the spin instructor obviously noticed that I
was always there, and then I started making friendships and
then she I guess she was I think she left
that gym. So when she left the gym, she offered
me the class and I had no clue. I've never
even done the class, but I every time I left
the class, I always had like this vision, like I

(18:54):
because the class is all about music, It's all about beats,
so I'll drive away after the class and I'll hear
music and I'll just think about my own routine. So
it was kind of like already, like, you know, I
was already thinking about, like, yo, if I have the class,
I'll have the class cracking, like because I'm a music
person and I know people when you have good music,
the vibe is just you know, the class is going

(19:15):
to be popping. So I already had this vision coming
towards me. So then when she gave me the class,
She's like, just show up at this time, I'm gonna
train you, and I was it was nerve wrecking for
me because this person, this I don't know, if you
guys know about Andy Fit, she trains bodybuilders. She's very
popular with you know, in the bodybuilding community. So it
me being a you know, just a regular student to

(19:36):
become an instructor was like a big shift. So I went,
I met with her, and I showed her three of
my songs and she was like, all right, cool on Monday,
just take over the class.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
What wait, real quick, what were the three songs or
do you remember the three songs?

Speaker 3 (19:51):
And showed her, Yeah, it was pop that with Freshmantana.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Yeah, yeah, man, I have I have to bring that
one back at the club.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
That was a good one.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
What else?

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Then I had a fast paced song, so I used
some d blow you know, I can't remember exactly what song,
but I have some people because Diplo is pretty fast paced,
so just music like that, you know. But most of
my songs were all hip hop, you know, cussing and.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Wait, why did they need to hear a song for
It's like a song set.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Because the way the bike like it's like m PM's right,
like one hundred or whatever, like the way it has
to be a certain pace, a certain pacem Yeah, yeah,
there you go the bpm.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Okay, wait, let me ask you this. What's what's the
song that that you've like worked out with where it
wasn't your class and it just ruined your vibe because
of the song. It's like a bad song, like.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
A slow song probablysha Cole like what's going on?

Speaker 2 (20:47):
R and right?

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Yeah, it's very slow and it's kind of like, man,
I don't want to hear that right now. I want
some something that's not gonna like your mind is just
you know, on a whole other level.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Where were you doing these classes at GM three? Okay,
was this the Palm Low or King's Kanyon?

Speaker 3 (21:01):
So I started there at King's Canyon and I did
that for about two years, and then I started doing
boot camps as well. So I became close friends with
the boot camp instructor and then she gave me the
class as so I was doing spin and boot camp
at the same time. At GB three, they were.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Doing boot camp. Okay, explain what boot camp is in
case people don't know what that is.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
So boot camp technically it is like a full body workout.
So it's a to me, it's when you, like, honestly,
you prove you're the beast thing you comes out because
it's it's really honestly, it's it's like weightlifting, and then
it's like boss slamming, it's ropes, it's running, it's doing
all everything at once. So that's the type of boot
camps I do. And then also since I was in
lived in Tijuana, I did like military out there. So

(21:42):
my boot camp is very like organized where I have
the girls like, you know, killing it and doing it
in military style.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Don't you have to be certified to be like so
during this time, let's go to this period that you're
at where your teacher's like, oh, those three songs are good.
All right, you're gonna do the next class. Aren't you
supposed to be certified?

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Yeah, she's Well, the thing about being in aerobics instructor,
it's only like a one day thing. Oh, you go
through the process. You have to like basically it's like
a whole eight hour you know, course, and then you
do the test and then boom.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Can you do this all online?

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Yes? Oh do you get like a license?

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Okay, so that make it official?

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Yeah, because I can't. You know, you can't train without
the certification at GB three it so how to get
that right after? You know, right away? Right after that
probably like the first three classes. I mean, you don't
say nothing, but I mean it was on the loan
and then.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
After yeah, okay, so you did this for two years
and then what happened after that?

Speaker 3 (22:35):
I started doing boot camps and I decided to let
go of spend because I was just losing so much weight.
I was looking crazy, and I'm like, you know what,
I like boot camp better because I'm using weights and
we're doing cardio at the same time.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
You know, now, was this when was the time where
you started to do workouts outside. Was this during the
pandemic when you started to kind of do your own thing? Yes, okay,
so what happened there?

Speaker 3 (23:00):
So after the gym was closed, I had a lot
of clients at GB three. I'm like, my classes were
so full. It was packed. You know, COVID happened, gyms
are shut down. People are messaging me like hey, like
are you still doing any workouts? And I was kind
of like, man, I was scared because you know, and
nobody was working at the time. Everything was closed. So
then I was like, well, I need to mix, you know,

(23:21):
I'll try to see if I could do a class
out in the park. Started with three to four or
five clients and then next you know, boom, all kinds
of people out the park.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Where were you doing this's at?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
What were it park?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Okay? Did you just get the word out or is
that word of mouth or how did that?

Speaker 3 (23:34):
I started just posting on social media, so I like
to post a lot on social media. I started posting
everything on social media. Besides doing that, I was also
training at their home and having them come to my
house as well.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Oh you were doing like personal training.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
I was custling. Yeah, yeah, trying to get all these clients.
I wanted to change lives. This is what I love doing.
So it was just it kept coming. So I'm like,
I'm not going to stop.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
During that time of the pandemic where you know, where
people were saying social assistancing, and what was your mentality
at during that time? Were you at like, no, I
don't care, let's just get a community together and let's
just work out no rules or what were you do
you remember that the energy what you were doing during.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
That well, you know, I bought the box with a
you know, with little mask. I just want to wear
the mask, you know, go ahead. But I mean I
was very you know aware because I also worked at
Kaiser at the time, so obviously the rules are big,
you know for you know, working at the hospital. But
I mean I just felt like, you know, people want
to work out. I want to work out. I'm just

(24:35):
going to go out there and do it. You know,
there's no stopping me.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
So you were doing this at Woodward Park Park and
it just continued to keep growing. More and more girls
were coming out, and then you started doing this downtown
as well too, right, right, So.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
One of the trainers I was at the Big Brother.
He's the Big Brother Boxing was downtown, right next to
the building I'm currently at right now. He reached out
to me and he was like, hey, brids is getting
called out there. You know it's going to get real cool.
They would you know, I have a spot available, and
I was like so happy to you know, get that
offer from him. I went and checked it out, and
I'm like, all right, cool, I'm gonna start training here.

(25:08):
So I trained with him at his location for about
three months, and then after that I just opened up
my own right next door.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
So all the girls followed you over there, and then
over time after training, you were kind of like borrowing
this guy's building, yes, and then you found a building
for yourself, right, So I.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Started ranting out the building from him, and then his
spot it's a thousand It was one thousand, five hundred
square feet. I had girls in the alley, like the
whole spot was full. The alley was and we're downtown.
You know there's there's you know a lot of crazy
people out there. So I was kind of like, man,
I need to find a spot asap.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
I know the big thing that you're doing it's for women, right, Yes,
was were you just doing women only, even starting at
the park.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yes, when I started at the park, I just started one.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Yeah when did it become women only? Was it even
during your spin class? Was that women only? No?

Speaker 3 (25:58):
At jub Through I had males. Well okay, yeah. But
once I started doing my own thing, I'm like, I'm
just going to do it for all women because I
started thinking. I started thinking, like, you know, a lot
of women want to work out, or maybe they're married
and they can't work out, So I need to find
something for these women. Because I started thinking about my
own journey when I was, you know, depressed, and I
didn't know where to start or how do I do it.

(26:19):
So I came out with, you know what, I'm just
gonna start training now that I have this opportunity, take
it to the park. You make it all women.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
That's how you promoted it on your socials. Was for
women only.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
No, it just started coming like that, Okay, we're guys
going to the park.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
In the beginning, they weren't.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Oh so it's just kind of organically was like that, yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
And then you were like, wait, I have something here,
I have something here. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
I mean I think those type of you know, gyms
always kind of like work, like was a curve back
in the day. Is that what they used to be
called where it just makes women feel more comfortable when
they were just around each other and there's just not
like creeper guys or whatever. So there's definitely something to that,
and it's dope that you you tap into that and
now you opened up your own building. Was this a

(27:05):
situation where you just needed a bigger space or was
it a situation where you're like, it's about time? Did
I just want my own? When did that come about?

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Well? I did my I started a challenge there. So
once I seen the clientele was I was getting, I'm like, yo,
I'm a creative challenge. You know, this is great for
all these women. I'm a creative challenge where I'm gonna
start giving prices. Now you know, I'm making a little
bit more money. I have enough to like, you know,
you know, give some like you know, give them a
you know, their money back or and stuff like that.

(27:35):
So that's when I when I announced that challenge. The
challenge was like, you know, my dms were going off
and I'm like, damn, well, what am I going to do?
They're not gonna fit there. So that's when I decided, like,
you know, I need a bigger space. So that's when
I luckily that space that's right next to the Big
Brothers was empty. So every time I'll leave the space,

(27:57):
I'll lock down. I've always there's window, so I always
just like look out the window inside of that building.
And I was like, man, this is perfect, this, this
is this has to be mine. Yeah, and I just
like manifested it. It happened.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
So my friends and I opened a restaurant, and I
know how tough getting this space that we did, and
also how much it costs. So how did you come
up with? Like what was it strictly from what you
were making working out before you opened this gym? Is
what you used to open up your own place? Because

(28:30):
it's tough opening up a place.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Oh no, it is. It is. The thing about me
is that I had I was working at Kaiser at
the same time, so I was working there full time
and doing these classes in the morning, five in the
morning and then after work.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
So I was busy, so I nonstopped.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
I was NonStop. So then I took that risk. I said,
you know what, I'm open it up and you know
at the end of the day, you know, I didn't
want to think that way, but I'm like, just in
case it don't work out. I mean, I still have
my job, have my benefits. Okay, so I have that,
but I mean it just I don't know. It just
I didn't. I just started growing. It was just wild.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Are you still at Kaiser?

Speaker 3 (29:07):
No? I was. I actually quit Kaiser.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Because the business was booming.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
It was booming. Oh wow, wait hold up. I did
it for five months and I got scared and I
got a job again and I started working at the VA.
But then I just recently two months ago. I just
now I'm full time again.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Wow yeah, and congratulations definitely.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
So what's the I know it's boot camp, but you
do these like six week challenges? Is that what you
do at your gym?

Speaker 3 (29:33):
I do challenges and programs. I have both.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Okay, So how does that work? Like if somebody was
interested in being part of your gym, like, how did
they sign up or what do they do?

Speaker 3 (29:44):
So if they want to just be part of a
regular program. I do have my packages. I have my
four weeks three times a week without the challenge. I
also have the six weeks three times a week, or
I have the six weeks, five days a week. Those
are the packages I have.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
So they're broken down in weeks. Yes, okay, and that's
something that they pay up front or yeah okay. And
what are the challenges? They're just they you switch them
up all the time.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
They switch them up all the time. I mean, this
last challenge, it was kind of tough because I have
so many women. It's so hard to choose, like who's you.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Know, how many people can you fit in your building?
Putting in there?

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah, they've been squeezed, but I'm currently working on a
bigger location. Wow, it's expanding that much. And yeah, we're
pretty much you know, and there. They don't they don't
want to leave. Man, what do.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Guys want to you know? I know it's women only,
but have guys tried to be like, hey, I want
to join this too? Uh? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
I had a few guys ask me, but I.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Mean, yeah, how do you turn them down?

Speaker 3 (30:42):
I just tell them they saw women come. Okay. But
I mean, if I open up a bigger space, I
would like to go back to my you know, roots
and have both because it is it is it's fun
to have males in there too. You know, because it's
it makes the girls we're herder too. You know, there's
guys there. You know, the guys and the girls are

(31:04):
both working hard. Because when I used to work at
GB three and there was I had like a mix,
it was it was always fun classes.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
So are you like currently looking for a bigger spot
right now?

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Yes? Oh wow, yeah, it's just it's kind of hard
right now, you know. It's yeah, the space, the area.
You know, I'm very picky how I like. You know,
I like that building downtown because it has these windows.
Most of these spaces are just like closed, no windows,
you know, because it's warehouse.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
So do you have other trainers with you or is
it literally just yourself just me right now? You think
you'll get to a point where you have other trainers
or maybe open up multiple locations.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
That's the goal.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Okay, that's the cool nice I. So something else that
I wanted to talk about is I know you always
post a lot of girls, you know that they're part
of your gym. Do you have any like really good
success stories.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Yes, a lot of them. It's just amazing to hear
you know, how I changed your life. Yeah, a lot
of these women are really really invested into my business.
It's just it's just it's empowering, It's it's amazing. I'm grateful.
I feel blessed, you know, to be able to help someone,
you know, feel that.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Now when when women come up to you and you
know they want to work out, what are what are
they usually looking more for? Is it they want the
weight loss? Is it they want you know, a flat stomach?
Is it they want a bigger booty?

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Like?

Speaker 2 (32:20):
What is? What is? What is? Women? What did they
usually come to you for?

Speaker 3 (32:23):
It's all of the above, But like you know, mainly
they're just like, you know, because you know they're they're
you know, they want to feel good again. Yeah, because
being a woman, you know, we have to feel amazing
every day. And some of these women, you know, they
get lost with work, you know, being married, not being
able to like you know, socialized like before. And I
feel like the space I created, it's it's been, it's
became you know, very natural and very you know, life

(32:47):
changing for them.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Do you have any like training philosophy that you stick
with or that you tell your clients as far as
a like, I don't know you have like a quote
that you use or like you know, this is like
how I go about things, and I don't know. Is
there something that you instill in your clients.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, I just let them know, Like you guys like this,
this is me. You know, I'm a mother of four.
You know I I have no excuses. If I could
do it, you could do it too, And it's possible.
You just got to believe in yourself while believing in
you and in your dream, in your body, and you'll
achieve it.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
I think that's really what it is. I know a
lot of times people always say they don't have the
time for it, but obviously you had multiple jobs, multiple kids,
and you still made it work. So I really think
it's just doing it, you know what I'm saying. Once
you do it, get into a routine, it becomes a
lot easier.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
The thing I wanted to kind of switch over is
if you have your philosophy on diets. And the reason
why I bring this up because you know, something that
we've talked about in the pod before, I lost my
seventy five pounds through keto. But then there's also that
side of people that might be against keto. Some people
have different philosophies kind of like what I've learned is

(33:58):
everyone has different philosophy and you kind of have to
find what works for you. So how what's your thoughts
on diet? Like, what do you tell your clients because
it's not only working out, you know, or do you.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Have your own like diet plan, my diet plan for all.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Of these clients, they all have whatever their goal is.
I speak to them and I send them an email
and I have my own you know, conversations with them,
and then I set them up on a mail plan
that works best for them.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
What is your philosophy on the on the diets is
like less you know, mine is no carbs, no sugar basically.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
So for the clients I want to, like, you know,
lose weight basically, it's like a low carb diet, you
know protein, you know, having their two ounces of carbs
four ounces of protein. You know, someone that wants to
gain weight, then I'll have up the protein of the carbs.
But you know I have different types.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Okay, so do you kind of I guess you customize
it per clients, correct, Okay, just for something for fun
and we kind of spoke a little bit about it earlier.
What is like your your workout playlist? If you had
to put one together, maybe right now, maybe you have
one like what songs are you currently working out to
tap in?

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Freak leak, some too short, blow of the whistle, some
forty you know.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
All of that, the high energy like all the old.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
School songs are they're still popping. Yeah, those songs are
like you know, they motivate these women. Yea they maybe
they might not act like that, but when I put
those playlists in the class, they're they're you know, they're
toorking it. Yeah, they're loving it.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
That's funny. You got anything else? No, that's no, I'm
good all right. So you know, for people that wanted
to get in touch with you or interested in being
part of your gym, who do they reach out to?
What do they reach out to? What's your socials or
you got a website?

Speaker 1 (35:40):
And also why should they choose going to you then
yeah brisfit then going to just the gym on their.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Own because brisfit the results speak for themselves. Man, the
empowerments there. You know, I'm there to support you and
you know, be with you throughout your journey if you
want to, you know, change your life. My instagram is
brisftit Underscore or one, or just hit up my line,
you know five five nine seven nine five nine four
three six.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
There it is.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
And again, I think that's dope that you're doing this
for women and kind of like what Giso said, maybe
the people that are nervous in the beginning they can
kind of feel more comfortable because it's a community of
women working out. Yes, that's dope. Man. Well man, you
know this is the first time have you met brisbeefore

(36:26):
good to officially meet you, and congratulations continued success and
hopefully you get this bigger spot and the spand your business.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Yeah, and we start seeing bris fits like all over town.
That'll be dope.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Thank you guys. I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
