seventeen years old. And you know, as we Jizo, you
and I have been in this business four years and
we're veterans, and I have my nephews who's one's nine,
ones twelve, almost a teenager, and we have our slang
(00:44):
words of when we were growing up. And it's funny
because I'm at that age now where I just like,
fuck with my nephews and say the words that they
have today, which some I like, some like the skibbitty
toilet Michael Nephews. I love saying that.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
I have no idea, but but but we're lucky we
have jay down here because he's seventeen. Are you into
like these new slang?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:10):

turning out that ain't.
Speaker 1 (01:20):

Speaker 4 (02:30):

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Okay, I'm not mad at all, right, but that's stems
from somebody's name.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Given the toilet one. I'm like not mentioning that my nephews.
My nephews loved saying that. I'm like, that's not it.
Speaker 3 (02:43):

Now it's Jaydon. Why the name changed?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
You know what, it's not even a name change. I'm
just back to my regular name. Oh name is Jaydon.
Oh it's a capital d.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Yeah, Okay, so you just gonna buy Jaydon now indeed, Okay,
is that how j A Y d O N?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Is that the correct spelling?
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Okay, see how you messed up my last name. Look,
that's why I took it off.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
People people saying Craig Ray spelling one.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
See they missed the other. I ain't mad.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
I don't know. It happens all.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Right, man, young dude seventeen years old about to be
the next thing.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 5 (03:55):
What I like about when he first came into the building,
the energy that you brit bro like right away.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
He just came in.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
He brought pizza, He came with some food, He came
in here with some.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Fanom tax one there y'are it's coming back.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, man.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
So yeah, I'm hearing a lot of good things about you.
I'm reading a lot of good things. I know you
got the new record with three one Old Baby. I
will talk about that a little bit later. But should
we just get familiar with this do a little bit?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
So yeah, for sure? Like where you're originally from?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Are you?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
I'm from Keli, I'm from ok You're from the West
coast Esfinita Velly and then oh.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yeah, So did you get into acting first? That was
that your first thing?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
What?
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Technically?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
But my whole family does music, So I've just been
doing that like I've been in that world my whole life.
I really started doing acting being in that world when
I was like six.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
How did that start? Like?
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I started with commercials with my parents. I was like
can I do that?
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I was watching the Disney Channel. I was like, can
I do that? They was like, yeah, they got me
an agent manager. So I started with some commercials. I
think my first commercial was a h McDonald's commercial.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Really is that on YouTube week pull up?
Speaker 4 (05:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, no, you know what. My first commercial was the
DJ Shuffle. My brother's in it, my mom's in it.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
What's the DJJ shovel? It was like a dance on Nickelodeon.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Oh I don't remember that one.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Okay, yeah, I stopped watching the Nickelodeon stuff, but I
used to be heavy on the Nickelodeon.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Yeah yeah, yeah, alright.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
So then you started getting taken acting serious after you
started doing these commercials and then you eventually signed with Disney.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
How did that happen?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
With the records man?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
So I was simbling the Linking when I was nine
years old, and that kind of just catapulted me into
being with Disney. You know, I was signed to them
when I was was there.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
What was this it called you have to like audition?
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Audition? Did you have to audition?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Audition? What's that?
Speaker 1 (05:43):
What's an audition like to be to do a.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
There like thousands of people.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
For this one, it was a self tape because yeah,
I was in Atlanta actually shooting the paints. I was
shooting the paints, so I did a little self tape.
It was with my dad.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
It must have went well because I got a call back.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, did it again.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Then I actually went back to LA did a real audition,
like a physical one with the executive producers.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
They loved me. I had to jump on like a bear.
It was cool.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
So did you get to meet like James Earl Jones
and man.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
He recorded himself New York.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
When you do these self tapes, is it both like
acting and singing or like what are you sending?
Speaker 4 (06:21):
It was both okay, not at the same time, though.
I do the scene and then.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Cut sing okay, and then did you have to go
to a recording studio to do this or did you
just do it.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
From actually shoot it?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, yeah, shoot the reals yeah, the actual script. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
It was really cool though.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yo.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
First off, they had a big studio. I got to
meet like all the animators and stuff. They were actually
making it through VR. This is twenty sixteen, it's like
before real VR. Hasty there, So it was my first
time ever seeing that. I got to see the whole world,
the whole Sahara everything. It was a VR. They really
made It's crazy, so got to check that out. When
I recorded my lines, it was in a black box
(06:55):
thea there. I don't know why didn't call it that
because everything there's white that make no sense, big white
carpet and I'm just acting out the whole scene. Whoever's
in the scene with me, they're there with me. It
wasn't like motion picture or anything like that, but it
was like fifty cameras just circling the rug and these
big boom mics and they would kind of just base
(07:16):
the movements of the.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
Lion off of me.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Really okay, yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
So I would actually have to like run around and stuff.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
Yeah, because I was gonna say, what are any cameras
for if you're just doing vocals?
Speaker 3 (07:26):
But I guess they wanted to capture your movements to
that natural feel. Okay, yeah, that was.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
A huge movie, by the way, the live action. I
know they got the sequel that's coming out. Mufassa yeah,
move fasa. I mean I'm assuming this year not in
that right, Yeah, but you're gonna go check it out,
right support.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Of course, is there any I know you're in the
music world right now, is there any like more acting
or voiceover stuff that's in the horizon for you?
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Absolutely? Man, Absolutely, I got a lot on the way.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Okay, so you're gonna stay in acting, yes, sir, Okay,
got to do both.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Man, you know.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Right now, let's just be honest. I'm focused on the music.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Okay, let me let go that.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Definitely. When I was watching your music video, which by
the way, you guys can look up Jay Dawn on YouTube.
It's on there. You have a song with three well no,
And when I was watching it, it throws me back
to when we were watching Tray songs first come out,
Chris Brown first comes out. Like that's the energy that
(08:24):
I see because I feel like music videos it's not
really it's not a big thing in this world, not
like how it was when back then, But this one
it gives that energy and this could be something that
you know. Actually, that's what I wanted to ask you.
The music world is so different, especially in radio. We've
been doing this for so long. We've seen the change.
(08:47):
What's the process in your head to try to get
to the next level? Is it get is it getting viral?
Is that the new thing? Is it? We hardly get
artist visits anymore, so.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
It's good to have the artists actually come in here.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Studio and media in person.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
Yeah, just do it.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
More of this, making sure I get my face out there,
get my voice out there so y'all get to know
me more. And just running up through streams, running uprough views.
Check out my music video. Yeah, are you.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Like on the whole TikTok thing?
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Those dances? If is there? Dance to the song is
sometimes that's what makes it big.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Off to dance to the song. You know what?
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Y'all can all go follow me on TikTok at the No,
it's just Jayden now just look up Jay look it up. Man,
y'all can check out my sound. They got a few
dances on there, dog they see what just doing it?
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Okay, Yeah, Actually, sometimes that's when it gets big, is
when it's just authentic. Someone just happens to do it.
It's not forced.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
I would like it to be.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Of course, I'm a dance to my song myself because
I'm a dancer, But I would love for somebody to
just make a dance to it and just do it
and everybody follow.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah, that's usually how usually starts.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Yeah, that's another thing that I noticed about your video
and just you as an artist. It is like you're
a dancer, so it puts you in that same realm
as like a Chris Brown. And I know before we
jumped on this party, we were talking about my tattoos,
the MJ tattoos I got Michael Jackson a big influence
for you.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Absolutely, Where did you get a Michael Jackson influence being
seventeen years old?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Check it out when I was five five four? It
was when I was real young.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
You actually played it, MJ.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Right, A lot of people say that, I don't.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Know where they getting that from.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Now, Yeah, I read that I sang a lot of Michael.
Maybe that's what it was.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
I sang. I sang Who's loving you?
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:26):
On Ellen, I sang a lot of Michael Jackson because
I just love Mike.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
But you sang that on Ellen. What was the what's
the context of that? I was on Ellen, I know, yeah,
but as like as you were getting interviewed. Yeah, oh okay,
you were on there as like an actor or was
it for the Pains or I.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Think it was for the Lion ky oh, for the
Lion King for it was before it came out through
I was around ten years old.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
All right, all right, man, all right, so back to
your story.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Actually, yeah, I was five years old, maybe four. I
was just young.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
My first time ever really getting into dancing was through
my grandpa. I like you, Grandpa, Larry shout out to you.
He loves Michael Jackson and just showed me all of
his moves and just showed me all of his videos
and stuff. So I was just like enthralled by it.
This is my first time ever seeing anything like that. Yeah,
and I just started copying it. That's how I really
got into this.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
You've got a favorite MJ video, music video or song?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Mm hmmm. I think basically it's my favorite song.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Oh okay, don't got a video to it?
Speaker 4 (11:22):
No, I think I don't know the favorite video. I
mean have you.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
My question is, have you ever watched Captain EO?
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeah, we watched that when it was at Disneyland. This
is the full experience, full experience when it was at
Disney See my dad was.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I wasn't old enough to actually catch it when he
first came out and everything, but I heard it was
like real magically, man.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
That was like my favorite.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
It was still with me seen it for the first time,
but imagine catching it on TV, Like, yeah, it's crazy, crazy,
I think my favorite video, oh remember the time?
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
I can see you being one of those so many bro.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Yeah, I can see being an artist that would like
maybe a future music video kind of takes some of
those concepts, or maybe he's pay homage to some of
his videos.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I think that would be pretty dope.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
I can see you doing that because you dance, you're
a huge fan obviously, you're a singer actor. Man, you
got the whole package. Bro, and you're barely seventeen years old.
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
I mean I think that's like a good age to
start at.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Yeah. Well, I mean he started even earlier than that,
for sure.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
The longevity could be there. You know, you know, we
see music in stages and I don't actually, you know,
I don't know what exactly what stage it is right now,
but we see a lot of like the Kendrick like
more of like the ratchet stuff at the clubs that's working.
I've been waiting for another R.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
And B yeah, wave, yeah, And do.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
You feel that too, where where it's it's needed, it's
like the next thing that's needed or are you just
doing your thing like this is what I do. I'm
not going to try to be a rapper.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
I'm just doing what I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I'm really not focused on being like anybody, but you know,
I just I want to be a great but I
can't focus on being like someone like Michael Jackson or
like Chris Brown. I just have to be myself. It's
is familiar, you know what I'm saying. Of course I
can take inspiration. I love Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Stevee
wonder you did. But right now music is definitely lacking.
(13:21):
Like I don't I don't see much R and B popping,
So give me an open slot.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
And sometimes it's more like above pop. It leans more
pop or you know, maybe even like dance, but just
that R and B. It's just we haven't had a
good wave of it. What are you you working on
a project right now? We know you have to single.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Okay, there lots of music on the way man two
or two five? Man, just stay tuned out.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
So twenty twenty five might just be your like breakout
year musically, right, I hope?
Speaker 3 (13:46):
So yeah, man, I know, So I like that.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yeah, yeah, I like that.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Are you uh?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Are you like you know who's in your camp? Do
you have anyone in your camp that's that you look
up to, that that's helping you out? You could like
text someone for advice, any big names that that you
could drop.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Of course, Look, I'm signing the l A reading usher
LA reading very hands on man, I know, y'all know, but.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Y'all know, like I know Cooliest Man, actually not, we
don't know we know.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Who he is, but y'all know, Like I know, you
know what I'm saying. I'm there with him every day.
He's really like locked in with all his music and
his driving. His motivation motivates me. So it's amazing working
with him. I can always call on him if I
need anything or like have any thoughts of what I
what I think about a song.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Or you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
And uh, you know what who also is like a
big better than me, My brother Paradise Man.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
He's also signed to Mega Omega. You know what I'm saying.
And he real dope. Man, he on the way too nice.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
I know Ushers has been on this tour. Have you
got to check out his shows and stuff?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Yeah, we went to me Paradise el read the whole camp.
We all went to the Usher show. I think it
was September twenty first. It was my parents anniversary yep. Nice,
So we all went out and seen him. Man Usher
Dog there great man.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
Yeah, he's another one that's cut from that cloth of
the m Yeah. Ever, yeah, I'll be crazy if you
guys can work together and maybe make a record together.
Is I mean, has that been something since talked about
or USh?
Speaker 4 (15:17):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (15:17):
I'm here.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
You know these past episodes we've been talking about like
hobbies and stuff. So away from like music, away from work.
What are some of your hobbies that you like to
do away from the music industry.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Okay, if I wasn't doing this hobby that okay, Yeah,
this is a tall dude, by the way, I mean,
we're just doing an audio right now, we'll get some
photos up.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
How tall are you?
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Six five?
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Six ' five? Okay? You did you play basketball throughout
high school and stuff?
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Nah, I've been homeschool. Oh yeah, I've always been like
a street ball.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Wait did that suck for you that you didn't get
to play for a high school team?
Speaker 2 (15:52):
A little bit experience, But I always had music in
my acting, really like impacting my life.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
So I ain't really been everybody then. Yeah, yeah, I'm
still young. I'm seventeen. You know, I actually graduated early,
so I got a whole extra years. Ever stopping, bro,
I'm here there you go.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
My man is working?
Speaker 1 (16:09):
How does that work when you're homeschool? Do you turn
in work to someone else or or it depends.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
It depends.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
It depends on the on the course that you're taking
or the academy that you're with. I was with Blue
Ridge Academy. I was taking the Silicon Valley course. If
you're in high school and your homeschool, yeah, Silicon Valley,
Blue Ridge Academy LA the best.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Yeah, it's real, so your parents get the curricular from them,
and it's really bad where everything is online or we
have real teachers.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Gotta check in with them like once a month.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
This is the course I'm on, checking with them once
a month, talk to them, let them showing your progress
and everything. And it's not really too like strain. It's
on being on camera talking to them every day. It's
just do your work, send it in, talk to me
once a month, see how you're doing.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
There must be so I'm sort of feeling that no, no, no,
no of you. Man, if you were in high school
at this age, sixteen seventeen, you know how many girls
you don't you don't think about that, Like, man, if
I was at the high.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
School right now, I mean he's focused on his career
and then that'll come later, right, I mean the girls.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Okay, they come with it, right.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
What are you listening to right now?
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Right now?
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Yeah? Kendrick Man new album What are some like right now?
On REGA, Squabble Up, Squabble Up? Luther is on repeat

says he got two on it.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Right yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
They're going on tour together. That's gonna be huge.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
I don't know word any plans on open you know,
usually the new artists they open up for the big shows.
Is there any already planned out tours that you're going
to be opening up for soon?

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Law? How did the connect with? Who chose three Will
No Baby to be on the record with you?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
It was my suggestion because I was already a fan.
You know what I'm saying. He young, He's like one
of the real young cats getting it out here, you
know what I'm saying. So I was already a fan.
He got his dancing Fortnite and everything, and this is
my first single. I wanted to be like really showing
where I'm from and what I'm doing, you know, being
a West Coast song.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Who would be the best? Pick him?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
So I tell my an R Happy he actually had
to connect to him, and he sent in his verse
the next day.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Real story.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
What I was going to say about three when No
was I'm only familiar with, you know, the club hits
that he released, the stuff we were playing on the radio,
and then to see him on this song kind of
a look I could be missing out. But this is
the first time I've seen him more on a mellow.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Like rhyming.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, mellow tempo. So I think that's a good look
for him because it's a different side of them that
I see. So that was that was a good pick
on your end.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah, man, shout out three one.
