Country from Knvayn and the Vikings RadioNetwork. Must curting Hall takes the Staples
left fires to be in zone touchdown d Jay Hockinson with his third touchdown

(00:20):
this season. Love straight drop firesat center of the field and and are
step dead. It was picked offin from the Jane ray Hair comes Josh
Mattellis to the fifty to the partyfarstime too the thirty five weeks over a
packner in the twenty seas Like okay, Josh back Ellis with a big interception
middle of the third quarter and theVikings have turned over all. That is

(00:44):
green and gold first in ten fromthe Green Bay twenty cousins. It's gonna
look one right caught tund chol fordinAddison with his seven the National Football League
touchdown Dat Gibbs Minnesota a twenty threeto three lead and for Jordan that touchdown

(01:06):
means he has the most in thehistory of a Minnesota Vikings through the first
eight games, twenty three three Vikings. You're readya alright, So here we
are Vikings Country with Miller like theofficial Beer sponsor of you are Minnesota Vikings.

(01:27):
We're hanging out in Waconia. I'mMuss your host, and we're here
at saloon with so many Skull fans. This is so awesome. What I
love about that open there is thatBrett Blakemore, who's back at the studios
and a big Packer fan. Hesaid, this feels like a bit of
overkill with that open there. Butthere's two reasons I did that open third

(01:51):
quarter, opening drive and then goinginto the third quarter. But more importantly,
I played Pitbull who's from Miami andwho played at Miami and now is
in the Miami Football Hall of Fame. No, I've been the Hall of
Fame. I just went into theRing of Honor, the Ring of Honor.
Yeah, foreman, ladies and gentlemen, thank you. That was last

(02:15):
week. Yeah, I was.I was on my way back this.
I just got home last week becausewe drove by choice of course, right
right, right, Yeah, Soyou're in the Ring of Honor. You're
already in the ring the Hall ofFame, but this Ring of Honor thing
is like the you know, howcool is that toy on the field and
just kind of feel that whole loveall over again. Yeah, it certainly

(02:38):
did you know being in Miami, and Miami is a different type of town.
It's got a little bit of youknow, the vibe is different.
You're saying, Miami vibe is alittle different from Minnesota vibe. I don't
understand it. Yeah it is.And then there's a whole lot of other
things going on in Mia, whichmeans that's why I love Minnesota. I
mean, Miami is good for aminute, Minnesota is good for a long

(03:00):
for the long term. So it'sbasically, any like city state that you're
gonna live in is basically gonna startwith an M because you're from Maryland,
right, And then he went toMiami. I'm in Minnesota, right,
three M. So here's the thing, this is what I love is that
first and foremost, Chuck Foreman wasgonna be here on the show, but

(03:23):
he decided to go on a bikeride. Yeah. I was on my
bike ride and I'm like, therewas something I'm supposed to be doing,
right, there's no joke, andI'm like about three miles into it,
and then about I think it waslike four or five, I don't know.
Four anyway, it's like about yeah, you're supposed to hear with twenty

(03:44):
minutes to five, And I'm like, what the heck? And then a
friend of mine, Brian, calledhey, Chuck, are you supposed to
being with Cony. I'm like, that's it. Let me get back home.
And then when I turned my bikedone, and then my text went
you know, my thing went offand gave me to notice that I was
supposed to be heading out. Yeah, you ride bike in this crap?
Yeah? Yeah, it's a coldday. Do you have one of those

(04:04):
fat tire bikes? No? Igot a road bike, man, I
got one of those real nice ones. It's called a specialized. But you
know now, I just put mywinter stuff on and hit the road.
Chuck might also have saved my marriagehere today, because we're sitting here at
the saloon and all of a sudden, my phone goes off and he's like,

(04:25):
who's Christy. Yeah, you mightwant to add him. I was
my wife. You might want toanswer that him. I'm busy, I'm
working. She can I can talkher later. You have a too busy,
but call him bro. Oh yeah, especially with Halloween, I set
everything up for the house in front, and she didn't know how to work
the lights. Yeah, you savedme. Thank you. I appreciate that.
Buddy, NFL Offensive Rookie of theYear nineteen seventy three, we're talking

(04:49):
about Chuck Forman seventy three to seventynine went the Minnesota Vikings, five time
pro bowler. You've done it all. It's just absolutely amazing, all the
things that you have a common placein your life. Now, when you
hear that segment opening up here inVikings Football, I'm sorry, almost a
Vikings football Sunday. It's Vikings Country. I have too many shows. Three

(05:11):
straight games, the Vikings defense, right, and we're gonna talk offense.
We're gonna talk Kirk Cousins coming uphere. But the Vikings defense. Three
straight games. They're holding opponents tojust over thirteen points per game, right,
and they are just absolutely killing itright now for the real they certainly
are, and as long as theycontinue to play that well, the Vikings

(05:35):
will have a chance to win.Now, I don't know. I mean,
Hall's gonna go in there this weekfor sure. They just traded for
Dobbs. Yeahsh Dobbs yet, andI watched him play a couple of games
during the course He's not bad.So he's probably a good guy to have,
you know, for the dur racingof the season. I think he'll
do it. He'll do a goodjob when he gets here. Did you

(05:58):
ever have and when we get tothis a little later, more in depth
when we talk about Kirk Cousins, but did you ever have a moment in
your career with the teams that youwere playing with, especially with the Vikings,
where you had just a massive playerat somebody that was a huge leader,
somebody was really the heartbeat of theteam, go down right, Frank
targeted. Yeah, and then wehad Bob Lee back him up. And

(06:21):
Bob Lee came in and did areally good job. But that's why it's
always important, to my opinion anyway, you got to pretty much have two
starting quarterbacks in this league right now, Yeah, because if something does happen
to your number one guy, yougot to have somebody that can come in
there that the players respect, no, can get the job done. And

(06:43):
you know, he may not beas good as the guy there, but
he's a guy that can get youover the hump until he gets back.
And so the Vikings, you know, when Kurt went down, I know,
well, when he went down.Of course, that's all that was
the big question. What's going tohappen from that point on? Right?
All right, Chuck Foreman is ourguest here Vikings Country. It's brought to

(07:03):
you by Miller Light. We're hangingout here in Waconia. And also in
that segment you heard, Mattelison getsthat sweet pick. It's a nice return.
And then what do you do first, especially when you're in Green Bay,
you throw the dagger and it goesto Addison. He gets that touchdown.
So a series that's one play, twenty yards, took five seconds off

(07:24):
the clock. Right, But JordanAddison, why I want to bring that
up is how good this young manhas been so far. And the one
thing that he did early on inthe season so far is that he loves
that spin moving. You are thespin doctor. Well that's true now,
but you know, so far,so good. He hadn't been caught in

(07:46):
the middle of it, and youdon't want to do that. So if
he can do it, about thathappening, and he'll be you know,
he'll be fine. But if youever get caught in the middle of that
thing, I can tell you firsthandit's a little bit so when you're when
you're doing the spin, you gotto know where you're going. You know.
It's not like to me. Youknow, I was and when I

(08:07):
did it, I was going tospace, open space. I mean,
I wouldn't worry about the guy.I knew I could dump him, you
know. But but you know, you need to have great, you know,
some pretty good, pretty good peripheralvision. And when you see that
space over there, you better knowthat it's open and you better know that
there's nobody coming in that space becauseif you do it and you can't see

(08:30):
what's coming, well, you know, I trust me. As I said
before, it hurts me. Sowhen you're doing that spin move, spin
doctor and everything like that, Uhthat that's not something Is that natural?
Or is it something that you pickedup because you saw I believe it was
a basketball player. Yeah, RoldePearl, mind, bro. I'm from
Maryland Courts. Basketball is a bigsport there back in the East Coast,

(08:54):
and I played basketball and like everybodyelse, and Earlde Pearl was with the
Knicks and the Baltimore boy It's atthe time when I watched him as a
kid and he used to be usedto come down and do that spind move
on the basketball court. That wasa big move then. And I remember
my rookie year we were playing thatat the time, the Houston Oilers.
Oh sure yeah, And I allof a sudden I saw some space over

(09:18):
there and and I gave this guythis little thing to go left, or
gave him that thing, and thenI came back behind me and I was
like, wow, I'm in thisopen space, and so I just said,
well move yeah, but you likeand I learned quick that you can't
spin into you know, the yeahyeah, spin out. Yeah you don't.

(09:43):
You don't want to do that, but you get caught once, you'll
know not to do it again. But that was that was how I had
it in my you know, becauseI was a basketball team. But then
I brought it to the football fieldand it worked out pretty good. Spind
Doctor. Your nickname Earl of Pearl. We've already mentioned that one right there.

(10:03):
The Old Trapper, of course,we all missed very much. The
Purple People Leaders, you got,Moose, you got well too, Minute
Tommy. Some really good nicknames herein Minnesota. What is your favorite nickname
of all time? Not just evenMinnesota, but also just in sports.

(10:24):
Like the galloping ghost or something likethat. I can't be honest with you.
I've really I've never given any thought, to be honest with you.
Do you believe in ghosts? I'veseen some crazy things in my really really
okay, you know, at leastI thought of maybe I don't know,

(10:45):
but maybe it was one of thosespin doctor things that went the wrong way.
Yeah. But yeah, I've seensome things that I was kind of
like, couldn't explain it really reallywell. Then mostly in Maryland, would
I say that all the way?I mean it was, it was.
It was in Florida. It wasreally when you're out in the Everglades.

(11:07):
Oh really, yeah. We Iwas out there. I mean, this
is Halloween. We were out there, and you know, it was at
night. We were supposed to becamping out. You know, we heard
some stuff out there because you know, first of all, that was when
I was a young dude, didn'tknow much about the Everglades and I was
at the University of Miami at thetime, and I was going out there

(11:31):
with this guy named Ray Bellaman. He's from Florida. You know, he's
a this old country boy. Butwe were out there in the Everglades,
and I can tell you. Andyou know, once I saw that thing,
I don't know what it was.I didn't even I didn't even wait
around to give back. I leftstarted running. Yeah, I left.

(11:54):
And then you know, and andthen we were he was out there waiting
and fishing, and then it gotto get dark, and I kept feeling
something hitting us on the lower extremity. I'm like, I'm out, really,
Yeah, there was some crazy stuffout there. I don't know what
they dumped out there. And theyhave a glade, but believe me,
don't go out there at night.Chuck Foreman talking about ghost stories here on

(12:18):
Vikings Country on a Halloween night.I absolutely love it. We're here in
Laconia, we're here at the saloon. Thank you guys so much for coming
out. We got more coming upon the way. We will touch a
little bit on the Kirk Cousins thing, because there's no way you can't.

are you a big fan? Iknow, I mean I don't keep
going all but he got good flow. He got good though. My granddaughters.

(18:02):
You know that's they keep it withall number forty four chuck Forman ladies
and gentlemen's hanging out with us here. Thank you, Vikings Country. Okay,
so let's go with that whole thing. That was our first rushing touchdown.
You heard there, cam Akers firstrushing touchdown of the season. It's
been a bit of a struggle.Now. I understand that that our offense

(18:27):
is really predicated on the pass firstand then they run. But why can
we not get things going? Inyour opinion, given the fact that your
stats when you were playing, youknow, hey, ep, that was
a different time. Five and fiftyyards, but you fifty three touchdowns in
your career. You see in mytime, if you got a thousand yards,

(18:49):
just a thousand that was a big, big, big, big big
deal, right because it was rundominant the elephanses and then you know you
were thinking about burning clock and thingslike that. As far as the Vikings
go, you know, you gotto build from the inside out that running
game. You know, it's gotto get better. But it's been good

(19:11):
enough the last few games for themto be to open up their passing game
and the and the other thing aboutit is, you know, no justin
Jefferson, but Addison's come in anddone a great job. So and then
we got Osborne and you got thathocking. So you know, there's all
those things in place. There's weapons, Yeah, there's weapons there for them

(19:33):
to do what they need to do. Defense is playing great, but as
far as scoring the you know, running the running game goes, I think
the more you do it, thebetter you're gonna be at it. But
as you said, it's more ofa pass first, run second type offense.
And so if you're not, ifthat's not your number one choice,

(19:55):
but I'm I'm a firm believer inestablishing a running game and then everything else
opens up. Now that this meand maybe I'm a old school but you
know, here's the thing about that. I knew you were going to say
that the old school part of it, because okay, first off offensive line,
defensive line when you were playing unbelievablewith the Minnesota Vikings. But also
you were an innovator as far aslike Jerry Burns, let's throw the ball

(20:19):
to our running back, let's let'smove around. I mean, you were
not just a north and South kindof guy. No, not at all.
But then when I was in college, you know, I played wide
receiver, I played running back,I played cornerback. When I got here.
That was really the first time.Well actually, when I got into
the college All Star games and theyfocused on me playing running back. And

(20:44):
then of course, you know,I don't know whether you knew it,
but I was the MVP and everyoneI played in And then when I got
drafted by the Vikings and Jim Finksbrings me into the office and then he
says, well, where do youwant to play corner? You want to
play wide receiver, play running back? I'm like, wow, I just
made all these all star teams, and I was all these great guys that

(21:06):
were supposed to be the top guys. You know, Greg prud otis Armstrong.
I keep going, and I waslike getting the MVPs, and so
I said, why aren't you justgonna let me play running back? Then
they say you're gonna play running backand then they turned me into a full
bay. And I was really upsetwhen they did that. But once they
explained to me why, then Iunderstood it. Before we get into more

(21:30):
of your A gaps, B gaps, Jerry Burns in the F gap,
which you know where I'm going there. I gotta tell everybody you can join
PA at the Elk River b WBuffalo Wild Wings. That is this Friday.
It's nine to noon. The FridayFootball Feast presented by Coors Light,
enjoy food and drink specials and achance to win Vikings tickets and more.

(21:52):
Visit Vikings dot com slash b wwfor the full schedule and details. Quickly
on coach Burns out, we heardyou talking about the gaps, the B
gaps, but the F gaps? That guy did he did he did he
teach you more about the F word? Or did he teach you more about
it? You know, that wasdefinitely part of the voca, but the
normal vocabulary. When I got there, you know, we are I can't

(22:18):
say that, but instead of callingyou your name, he'd say, hey,
you you know that got that typeof thing. But him, Bud
Grant. You know, they wereinno, the innovative way before our time,
because you know, like when theyswitched our offense, they called it
a purple offense. Bud came tome and said that, look, you're

(22:41):
not going to be recognized as thebest one you on this part of your
game, but you're going to changethe game. And I couldn't quite understand
that because I thought you just playedfootball and you know, whether you could
run it, catch it you theyjust looked at you like that. But
for me until recently. You know, only thing they judged me by was

(23:03):
my running game. That was fromthe full back position. All the stuff
I did is receiver. That's outthe door right until like what forty some
years later. Now they're trying tosay that the all purpose back is that
was a way to go. Yeah, but I'm trying to say, well,
I did that long ago. Soyou know, when they talk about

(23:25):
these guys, it started no no, no, no no, But that's
my thing. Still they're light andthe Vikings country. We got going out
here, Chuck Foreman, ladies andgentleman, the legend here for the Minnesota
Vikings, number forty four. Nowyou had you had the luxury to play
with one of the greatest and thegreatest quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Kirk

(23:47):
Cousins. He gets injured injured there. He's got the torn achilles. He's
going to be out for the restof the season, maybe the last time
he's actually played for the Vikings. We just don't know at this point,
But would you place him for howmany quarterbacks we've had here with the Minnesota
Vikings, would you place him atnumber two right behind Fran As far as
a franchise quarterback. Given the factthat he's played here how long and what

(24:12):
he's actually done as a quarterback,I would say, yeah, yeah,
yeah, I think And then, you know, the only other guy I
was thinking about was Tommy Kramer.Oh yeah, because he came, because
you know, I don't want toleave him out of the mix and not
buy any stretch of the imagination. But then and that's a close you know,

(24:37):
I'm almost like a tie. I'mjust saying, Kurt is uh in
my opinion, especially this year,he was in the top three. He
was one of the top three quarterbacksin the game. There's easily twenty eight
teams that didn't have a quarterback betterthan nothing like that. And so,
like, I know, the contractthing and all that stuff is always in

(24:57):
the picture, But this is whatI'm saying about Kirk. You know what
kind of quarterback he is. Youknow what he can do when he has
the time. So you got togive him the things that he needs to
showcase his skill set and when hehas the time, there's not a quarterback
in the league that can put theball where it needs to be better than
maybe one or two, but hehe can do the job. And so

(25:22):
the last three, especially this yearKirk gets the time, the offensive line
has been playing better, his statsare better. You know, they winning
games and the games that they lost, games that they should have won.
Yeah, you know. So asyou're watching this twenty twenty three Minnesota Vikings,
if you were gonna do, youknow, crystal ball this thing a

(25:44):
little bit, if you're gonna magicateball this thing and check it up and
ask what's gonna happen. What doyou think is going to be the end
result for the Minnesota Vikings. Ithink they'll be a playoff team. I
think the defense, of course,is if they continue to get better and
played like they're playing for defenses numberone. And then I think from the
offensive standpoint, if they get well, First of all, I don't know

(26:08):
who to get. We got ahaul to go this week, and then
they just you know, sign JoshDopps Jostobs and I watched him play this
year and he's a pretty darn goodquarterback and he might be the right guy
at the right time for our teambecause I think if he gets up and
he gets here, I think hecan steer the ship and keep it going.

(26:32):
So I'm not saying he's gonna beKirk cousins. But I'm saying,
if the defense plays well, wegot you know, severs, we got
all that happening. I think theycan. They can, you know,
play well enough to be a playoffsChuck Foreman, Ladies and gentlemen here biking
Scot Tree of a fan. I'mhere with corysc President of Welshire Memory.

(26:57):
Yes there was eighty percent. Iwas well. I was waiting for you
to give me like a ten withanother memory. I didn't want to talk
because he was the experienced. That'sgood point. Look I got you.
That's when you're such what a niceguy find out. You know, we
