(01:00):
one O two, I'm muss. We're here at the lookout in Maple Grove
and a very special guest, ChristianDarisaw. Ladies and gentlemen, Big seven
one is hanging out with us.How are you, buddy? I'm doing
great? How you doing? I'mgood. You hear that intro that we

(01:23):
had there there was some Creed musicthat was played, and I hear that
the Kirk Cousins and crew, Bradberryespecially made sure that there was some Creed
music that was pumping in the lockerroom because of how successful it has been
with the Texas Rangers. Was thatthe first introduction to Creed that you've had

(01:46):
in your life? No, notmy first intro. Usually we hear it
like in the weight rooms. Weusually like take turnings picking who's selecting the
music and whatnot. But usually, like on game days, Brian asamoa,
he's on a boombox and straight hiphop and like the guys kind of get
like irritated. So we decided toswitch it up and then work for us.
So we're gonna roll with it.Yeah, yeah, yeah, you

(02:07):
get to win against the Paris. There you go. Creed has saved once
again the day, right? Isit so higher? Is that your favorite
song or or what level of categoryof Creed songs do you know? I'll
probably say that's the most like wellknown song. Yeah, I know by
Creed for sure. Or I meanArms Wide Open that's a pretty good one
too, but it might not bea great pump up song before a game.

(02:28):
Yeah, I'm not a too bigof a Creek guy myself. I
enjoyed it all right. You werethe seventh offensive tackle drafted by the Vikings
in the first round in Viking's history, and the fifth highest at twenty three
You're the only Virginia Tech player draftedin the first round in Vikings history.
Did you know that? I didn'tknow that. Yeah, I knew we

(02:49):
didn't have a lot of acc guyson the squat. I didn't know I
end up here, But I loveit right right right. Well, maybe
we just didn't have enough, likeyou know, bigger picks. But you
play three season adage Junior Tech andentered the draft in your junior year.
And one thing I did notice isthat, did you did you see the
forty nine ers game where they werethrowing hands before the game with the Cleveland

(03:14):
Browns. I didn't see that.Oh yeah, yeah, game hadn't even
started yet. On the sidelines, all of a sudden there's hands being thrown
yeah, oh yeah, and TrentWilliams comes in. Yeah, and Williams
comes in and instantly nobody wanted apiece of that. So, yeah,
he's a tone setter. You don'twant to mess with that guy. Do
you just know what type of playerhe is and respect that everyone has for

(03:36):
him in a game, It's justthat type of energy. You were seventy
seven when you were in college, and then he comes to the Vikings.
You go to seventy one, andyou also kind of wear your jersey a
little bit in that whole Trent Williamsstyle or something like that. Is there
a reason to that, Is therea correlation to that at all, or
it just happens that way. I'llprobably say the seventy one for Sore.

(03:57):
Growing up in PZ Conty, Marylandand watching him play Washington, he was
always my favorite offensive lineman. Mebeing myself, I never wanted to play
offensive line. Once I got tohigh school, I kind of had to
adapt and make that change. Andonce the number seventy seven I knew it
was retired. I looked down thelist of seeing that seventy one. It
was just like like a lot ofgreat tackles award that number, and I
knew that was the number I wantedto wear. So you didn't want to

(04:19):
play offensive line where you go.You wanted to do like fly routs and
post patterns, like a tight end, like I'll get gritty, like I'll
block for a little bit, butI wanted to catch the ball, I
score a little touchdown that you wantedto really wanted to play te for so
well, yeah, yeah, yougot some athletic ability that, there's no
question. So you got the hands, you got the feet. We've seen
that already, so yeah, youdefinitely who's gonna stop you when you come

(04:42):
across the middle the catch that ball. That's what I wanted to do,
but everything worked out for the better, so I'm gonna join it. Yeah.
So was there another focus for you? And like high school and when
you were growing up? Was itall football or was there other things that
you were really into? I mean, I don't know where you inquired?
Did you? Were you in thetheater? No, none of that really
for me. It was this baseball, baseball and football. And then once

(05:04):
I got to high school, Ihad to make that decision and I knew
football was I was kind of betterat so I had to put baseball down
for a lot there. But uh, yeah I made the right I made
the right decision. Oh yeah, what did you play in baseball? First
base? First base? And outfield? Oh? Very nice, very nice,
just clopping the hell out of theball. That is the thing is
that I love watching, uh anyof your highlights, watching the games where

(05:28):
a US Bank Stadium and stuff likethat. Uh, it's so amazing.
You really love it when you getunder that second level and the poor dB
that has to decide, Okay, this is a business decision right here.
Do I stay here or do Inot? And you just cartwheel off for
so every time, that's just thatmindset. Whenever Coach caused those plays for

(05:51):
us, we know we're out therein space trying to clear away for whoever
got the ball. So it's funnbeing out of space. So when you
also are sitting on the line andyou and you're working your toil and you're
so good at this, buddy, what I love to watch is that when
you get somebody on the ground, and there's so many times a year just
tossing huge, huge people and youtoss them and I love the finishing move

(06:15):
because you love doing the body splash. No do bringing three point fifteen right
down on top of you. That'sthe way to end it. Once you
get that defender on the ground, you got to finish him. So yeah,
Christian Deis is my guest here Viking'sCountry with Miller, Like, okay,
So the thing that we all recognize, and especially if you watch a
lot of film and stuff like that, your hands and your feet are just

(06:39):
so tremendously adept to playing this position, especially when you're out there on that
island there left tackle. What areyou more proud of your hands or your
feet? Yeah? I definitely saythe hands, Yeah, just because of
how song I am. I knowonce I get my hands on any defender,
that block's kind of over it andjust like having that power in that

(07:00):
force coming through. But definitely creditto my feet as well. You got
to have great feet playing tackle inthis league right, absolutely? Well.
And the thing is with your hands? Do you like training off season?
Are you doing like MMA stuff forUFC? We always we see some of
those guys doing like defenders. Wesee a lot of das. They love
to do that kind of stuff becausethey're trying to get those hands out of
the way. Do you do anythingthat like that? I've been sprinkling like

(07:24):
in a little bit of like boxinglike for cardio and hands. Definitely quicks
up my hands like punches and stufflike that. So no, no,
MMA though, nothing like that showwith the with the great feet that you
have and we already know about thehands, that has to mean that you're
you're a good dancer. Do youlike to cut it up on the dance

(07:44):
floor? Nah? Man, youcan ask any of my friends, I'm
staying away from the dance floor.Uh, I probably say the feet work
comes back from the childhood workouts, playing wide receiver like tight end, working
on all my quickness and stuff likethat. But no dance, no dancing,
not even like keeping it just righthere, just doing this thing,
you know, just keep it rightnow. But once we get the footwork

(08:05):
involved, I love it. Let'stalk about fits because we've had two games
that we've won on the road, and then how do you plan what goes
into what am I going to wearwhen I'm gonna be on the road,
especially because you're gonna be wearing oneprobably outfit coming in so that way the

(08:30):
walk in with the cameras you got, and then you get another outfit that
you're gonna wear for the presser. At what point during the week do you
actually go, Okay, I gotI gotta get my fit ready for me.
On away games, I'm just comingin the sweatsuit because I know we've
gotta travel, getting on the planeand everything like that. So I really
don't put no thought into it goingon the road. But for the home
games, usually Tuesdays, I'm offday. I have a guy in my

(08:54):
stylist, we go through a bunchof different options. I pick out that
solidify, and then everything comes inby Friday and I have it ready to
go for Monday. That is sosweet. Well, yeah, you gotta
do any Normally on a Tuesday, you would be working a fit right now,
but instead you're hanging out with ushere in Maple Grolm at the lookout,
and we appreciate that we got morecoming up here on the way.

(09:16):
Vikings Country will get into our fivetypically stupid Viking Country questions, which are
always fun. But I have onethat's kind of a goofy one for you.
It's the spooky season. You grewup in Virginia, which has probably
a lot of ghosts. I'm guessingthere's got to be a lot of haunted
places, a lot like ghosty stuff, right, Yeah, have you ever

(09:37):
seen a ghost? I've never seena ghost. Do you believe in ghosts?
I don't. You do not?I don't know, not at all,
not at all. Do you alsowonder like I do? Is that
why everybody just assumes that if it'sa ghost and it's a haunting, that
the ghosts are like menacing and they'reawful and they want you to get out.

(09:58):
What if it's like a really hotghost, like a really really hot
sexy ghost. Well no, butif you saw one, but you can't
see a ghost, what if it'sa really sexy, horny hot ghost,
we won't be able to tell.I mean, like to me, that's

(10:20):
how I want my ghost to be. Everybody would so it wouldn't be scary.
N But so no, you don'tbelieve any the ghosts. You don't
get like spooped out during this timeyear. Scary movies for you? I
watched, I watch a few scarymovies. Yeah, but best ever the
one that absolutely terrorized you as youcontinue to think about it every once in
a while. Not off the topof my head. I couldn't name it,

(10:43):
but yeah, definitely a few.So oh sure for sure? All
right, Christian Darisa is hanging outwith us here. Even on Vikings Country,
we still do talk a little bitof football, and there's kind of
a big game coming up here ina Monday night football game. We'll get
into that coming up here next onkf AN. It's time for Vikings Country,

(11:07):
brought to you by Miller Lyte. Now here's your host of Vikings Country
from Kfan and the Vikings Radio Network. Muss play action out of the shotgun,
Harrison Phillips trying to give him attackJosh mattellas porst the fumble hit pouting
about picked up by Jordan Hicks fortythirty and his loose talk down cousin.

(11:33):
Shotgun takes the snap five step rocksteps up, fires to the end zone,
talk down Viking Jordan Addison, Ladiesand gentlemen, Welcome back to Vikings
Country. We are here in NapleGrove. Tons of Vikings fans hanging out

(11:56):
here at the lookout. And bythe way, you can join pas the
Crystal Buffalo of wild Wings. That'sthis Friday from nine until noon for the
Friday Football Feast presented by Coors Light. Enjoy food and drink specials and a
chance to win Vikings tickets and more. Visit Vikings dot com slash b WW
four full schedule details. And aswe're hanging out here at the lookout,

(12:20):
Christian Darisaw is my guest. Hedoesn't believe in ghosts, not even the
hot sexy ones, which makes mesad because I thought I had you on
that one all right. Before weget into the Niners game coming up here
the five typically stupid Vikings Country questions. As if you haven't had dumb questions

(12:41):
as to you already, you're gonnacome back on the show ever, Yeah
okay, yeah, yeah, youpaused again on that one. All right?
So uh first one, Bear's backupquarterback Tyson. What is it?
Bag gent? Bad gint bad gint? Okay, that's how I pronounce it.
His dad is known as the BeastTravis. His dad was like the

(13:05):
seventeen time arm wrestling champion of theworld arm wrestling. Have you ever been
a part of it back like whenI was younger, Yes, in college
for sore, we used to getcompetitive with arm wrestling. Oh no,
kid, just like between like rightright right, yeah, you were in
arm wrestling at bars for like youknow, bears and stuff like that.

(13:26):
Somebody pay a tab on this foothere? Okay, how about this?
So flag football it's going to bean Olympic sport? Now, okay?
Is there a sport? Is therea talent outside of arm wrestling and flag
football that you would love to bean Olympic sport? So that way you

(13:46):
could possibly go gold for the US? Oh? Are you good at like
cornhole? Are you good at?Oh not really everything. I'm kind of
like interested in good. It's alreadylike a nothing sport, nothing enough to
top of them. No, no, okay, all right, all right,
number two, here we go.Uh. I've seen your interviews,

(14:09):
I've seen videos. I've seen themwhen you are miked up and stuff like
that. Man, you always havea smile on your face. And even
when we were hanging out here withall these friendly folks in our skull nation,
hanging out here at the lookout, just smiles all about. But man,
when you're on the field, youget nasty. Where does that switch?
When does that switch happen? Foryou? Just know when it's time

(14:31):
to lock in? Really for me, when I'm when I'm just around the
building, just doing stuff on adaily just trying to bring a smile to
other people's faces because people feed offof you, sometimes with you and not
even knowing. So once I'm onthat failed though, I just turned into
that dog. I just know whoeveris across from you. Go ahead,
you have to work today. We'reabout to get Christian Darris dating advice because

(14:54):
Shania Twain, she was on atalk show and she said someone was asking
Drew Barrymore was asking her, youknow, what do you think about dating
advice? And she said, well, the best thing you can do is
just be brutally honest, throw itall out there. If they run,
you don't need them. Otherwise,if they stick around, they might be
a keeper. Also, Shannon Sharpand Chad Johnson had a conversation on the
podcast talking about They were discussing goingto the bathroom in front of a partner

(15:20):
and uh o Jo Sinko said it'sall cool, he has no problem with
it. Sharp said that he actuallybroke up with the girl just because she
farted in front of him. Yourdating advice for all of our fans sitting
here and listening right now. ForViking, if she far in front of

(15:41):
me? No, no, wellyou okay? You want to go that
route? Yeah? If she fartin front of you, you okay with
it? Oh no, No,don't get that, don't. We ain't
that comfortable, especially if it's smelltoo. That's don't make it even worse.
Is there a statute of limitations onthat he been dating for so long
and then it's okay for it too. Yeah, we can't let it slip.

(16:04):
We can't let this slot. Alight, Well, that's good dating advice.
I like that. All right. Here we go number four on the
one of the best in the NFLthat left tackle and you are absolutely what
does it mean to you to beacknowledged as that and people talking about it
all the time. But then howmuch pressure does that put on you?

(16:26):
No pressure at all. I justknow where I came from coming out of
high school, but one one offerpower five level making that work, having
to go to the military school andjust everything like that, everything that's been
a part of the journey to thisday being a fourth tackle, taking to
my draft class. They just kindof it just like build up things that
just kind of like just stuff thatjust like just motivation. So I never

(16:51):
feel like it's pressure at any givenmoment. I just go out there and
beat me and I know that's goingto work at the end of the day.
All right, Christian, last oneon here for the five typically stupid
Fiking's Country questions. Monday night Football, Man, Monday night football, How
is that so much different than anyother Newton game, even a Thursday game
or whatever. But Monday night football? What is that? Like? What's

(17:15):
what's that experience? You just knowthe whole world's watching. There's no other
game on. We're kind of likethe last game to finish up the whole
week. So you just know everyone'swatching and it is all like all odds
on you. You really don't wantto go out there and put out a
bad performance and you just know youwant to be dialed in hopefully get that
win. Yeah, that's fun, very nicely done. All right. So

(17:37):
at LT you're going up against someof the best of the best in the
NFL. Edge rusher is coming atyou. You're on the blind side,
You're on that island over there. Are there are ever times where you hear
a play call or whatever and you'relike, damn, can we get somebody
to chip over here? Up?Would be nice? Sometimes for sure,
Ko he kind of he can calllike a ball holder that we know that

(18:00):
that play takes a long time todevelop. And like being on the man's
side, it's like a one onone block and you can be going against
like anybody, I'll say Nick Bosafor example, it is like, all
right, here we go. Youbetter buckle up, because you know if
you if you do hold your ownand you hold that block, it's a
big player is going to happen, and you know, usually Kirk finds that
that receiver and it's going, areyou a talker? Do you get into

(18:21):
because I know I saw that youwere saying that you're spending more time now
really focusing on your own skills, but then also your opponent as well,
really getting to know what they doand stuff like that. Do you go
so far as where you're like getto know them, like you open up
their bio, find out about them, you know, things that you can
give them crap about. I won'ttalk unless you unless you started up.

(18:44):
I just let my game do thetalking for me. But if you want
to talk, we can. Wecan have that type of game too.
This will be your second Boston thatyou get to meet this show, will
it will? Nick Bosa, he'sdefinitely probably the best in the league.
Yeah, well the forty nine ersthat that defense is ridiculous, right,
and that's going to be a toughmatchup. And I know it's a Tuesday,
so you guys have not actually gotteninto that so deep. But ultimately,

(19:10):
yeah, we know the challenges thatwe're gonna face for sure, and
we're gonna be ready dialed in andwe hopefully get this w How cool is
it gonna be Monday night football? You're taking on the Niners, one of
the better teams in the league, and you guys are playing at home and
how loud it's going to be atus Bank Stadium. Plus that walking in
the US Bank Stadium? How doI mean? Do you often just go

(19:33):
can the offense come out first?Yeah? Sometimes that's a cool way to
come out. It definitely is.But we know our defense, they always
set the tone and whatnot. Butjust definitely being the night game here at
US Bank, the energy is gonnabe crazy. We know how it is.
You know. We just got togo out here and make plays for
the fans and have them out it, you know, watching you and your
game, and especially when you're kickingback, you know, and you're out

(19:55):
there on your own and you startwheeling back and then all of a sudden
you got the das having up atyou, or a udge guy's coming up.
And once they get to a certainpoint where they realize, okay,
I'm not going to be able togo around this guy because he's already cut
me off because he's too fast, and then they try to bull charge you,
and that's also a bad idea becauseI've seen it all of a sudden,
you put your heels in and youset those hips that nobody getting past

(20:18):
you. Yeah, for sure, those those are the type of rusts you
kind of invite, especially like theskill level that these defrienders have in this
league. They're all good top tobottom week the week, so you got
to take something away from their gameand kind of things that they don't like
to do and things that I love. So yeah, Christian Derris, I
is our guest here at Vikings Country. Okay, a couple more for you

(20:41):
here. One. I noticed thatyou're not real big on socials. That's
not kind of your thing, isit. I'm on there, but I'm
really not posting it and stuff likethat, especially in season this Yes,
can I thank well. Let's alsotalk about your foundation as well. We're
there said foundation. Yeah, Ikind of got started up last year and
I'm kind of just trying to findthings in the community that I'm interested in

(21:03):
and kind of just build it fromthere. And your your faith is really
important to you. I didn't noticethat on the socials, Yes, sir,
Yeah, I kind of grew upwith my mom and my grandmother.
I would go to church every Wednesdayand Sunday, and I kind of cared
that throughout my whole life. AndI know without God, I wouldn't be
here, So bigger faith. Howexcited are you the Dolly Partner is going
to be the headlining the halftime showon Thanksgiving? Who is that Dolly Parton?

(21:30):
You don't know who Dolly Partner is? Man, I should pull it
up on my phone. I'll giveyou two reasons why you should know Dolly
party Well yeah, no, yeah, she's going to be on Thanksgiving.
She's going to be doing the Cowboysgame and at the half there. And
I didn't know if you were excited. No, no, no, Dolly,
no, no you have Do youhave a celebrity crush at all?

(21:52):
Celebrity crush? Man? I'm doingeverything I can here. I'm trying to
be Oh there you go, yougo. I was going Sexy Ghosts and
I was going with Dolly Parker.Yeah, okay, finally are they here?
We go? Christian Daris Al ladiessaid Jello hand out with us.

(22:17):
I guaranteed you it was gonna bestupid and didn't live up to it.
Yeah, oh goot, good appreciated. Hey if you're heading to the game
at us Bank Stadium this season, try the all new Vikings inspired beer from
Hop Valley Brewing, crafted for thefans who bleed Purple. Hop Holla Hazy
Ip is a game day grog fitfor Valhalla. I asked you about the

(22:40):
fits and all that when you're goingto the games and you're getting ready and
you got yourself all set up onTuesdays with your guy, with your stylists.
Who's the worst on the offensive linewhen it comes to style, man,
because Ezra seems to me, Yeah, he's he seems like a pearl
snap, you know, wearing someWranglers's the gritty guy like he's showing up

(23:04):
for work. The outfit that reallydon't matter. We got to play a
football game. That's what we're herefor. So I definitely say Ezra or
Garrett Braber and who brings the bestgame, oh man, as far as
well as you as far as fitsgetting getting ready for a game or yeah,
Ed brings it, yea, itbrings it nice, very nice.
All right, there you go.Christian darrisaw our guest Vikings Country. Thank

(23:30):
you guys so much. Thank youMiller Lite for having us out here.
