(00:00):
All right, Vikings fans, welcometo salute to service here at the VFW.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're here atMonticello. Thank you so much.
With Miller Lyte and the Minnesota Vikings. I'm much from K one O two
KFA and Vikings Radio Network. Andto my right and as you're listening to
your left, it's Chad Greenway.Let's go fifty two in the house.

(00:24):
Mona Clo always shows out, soyou know, I like the crowd,
big, but a little quiet.I'm not gonna lie. Yeah it was
yeah, yeah, I think weget I think we can get a little
more out of the bikes fans.I mean, how about that win last
week? Are you kidding me?Let's go wake up out there. I
love this because Chad is one ofthe originals e ogs for Vikings Country.

(00:45):
That's right now and it's it's justsome good times. Oh yeah, oh
yeah, absolutely. We're sitting inthe Mall of America. Then, you
know, have a beer before, have a beer after. That was like
it came like a weekly staple ofour family, Like we would just go
to the mall for the night andthe kids would go off and my wife
would go shut and then the showwas over. Right then we go get
dinner, and then I feel extremelyweird because I'm just sitting there. Let

(01:07):
it happen. We have, youknow, with the four girls and everything.
I'm like, okay, this isawesome. I'm the seventh wheel.
It is. And now those fourgirls are all grown up and really expensive.
I know, it's it's yeah,not all grown up. It isn't
incredible incredible how much they cost.I can't explain it. It's it's unbelievable.
I wish I could play again allover again. Right, yeah,
you get the money they make now, Yeah, it's it's way better,

(01:27):
right yeah, because the money's startingto do. They're so cute. Oh
yeah yeah, you get a beautiful, beautiful family. Dude. This is
so funny because doing Vikings Country thisis my fifteenth year. I was gonna
say, you want to talk aboutog Like, yeah, this dude's everywhere.
Huh. How about a rondo applausefor this guy? Well, I
wasn't fished. This dude right here. You hear him on Sunday if you

(01:49):
listen on the radio or if youturn your radio one, turn the TV
guys off because they sell stink right. We want to listen to PA.
We hear the Muscles announcements. Youhear him on K one O two,
the dudes on the radio every day. Now he's here at night and he's
still married. Yeah, just prettyastonishing. She wants me to go do
more, especially with the looks onthis guy. Uh so you know it
takes. I always talk about this, especially now that I'm on the back

(02:10):
side of my career, is like, you don't realize the work that folks
like you put in to support theVikes and what it makes it great for
fans like you all and fans likeme now because I usually am listening to
games, yes, and not watchinggames because of our schedules. So it's
really special what we have here.Yes, having garage beers, yeah yeah,
yeah, it's yeah yeah, maybea couple of grade ducks mixed in

(02:31):
there a while, But the thewhat what you what you have here is
special people around our teams, fromPA to Muss. The boys are over
the Gophers. It's pretty unique herein town. Not labor though. Well,
now Twin we don't. I don'tyou know, Twins, He's my
friend, but don't watch Twin CitiesLive I tape it to watch it at
night when my wife falls asleep likeeverybody else, you know, of course,

(02:53):
just like I can see Ben rightright right right, I was.
This is so funny because Jared Allenstarted this sinking show only only as he
could yeah yeah, and and talkedme into doing this. This was wild
Jared Allen. This is not now. He's betted down. Oh yeah,
yeah, he's put or put outthe pasture maybe so to speak with a
better term. Well, we broughthim in the Ring of Honors thing that

(03:15):
that event we did. He waslooking at me, he goes, not
all the stories, not no,yeah, please don't. And you have
a lot of them. Oh yeah, way too many. You have the
best ones before he went out,you know, got put out the past.
But it's so funny because he literally, uh, every time I do
the very first show every season,I text him or I call him and
I guess where I'm going, andhe laughs his ass off and he says

(03:39):
the same thing every time. He'slike, Wow, it's the best practical
joke I've ever played on any friendof mine. I made you do the
show, and then I left it, just left, and you're still doing
it. Yeah, and here youare. Yeah, hey, but you're
mana solo the BFWs. Yes,when I got the when I got the
location. First of all, theopportunity to be he is unique and special
for me. I'm only doing youusually radio with Pa on Fridays, and

(04:01):
that was so fun to meet forme to be here right anytime we come
North Monticello, we or sink Cloudfrom an event, we go to Blaine,
the crowds are always crazy, andnow we get to be at the
BFW. This is unique and specialon the same time because of venue and
the reason we're here. That's awesome. Fourth all time tackles and franchise history.
Well, if we watch the tapeback, I think I'm third,
but you know, we don't wantto. We don't want to, you

(04:24):
know, beggars, camping choosers, don't kidding. It is what it is.
Well yeah, yeah, yeah,Well let's let's be honest. It's
all because of the Williams Wall Imean, you know pretty much, Keviny
Pat. I don't want to taketoo much credit. Yeah, I got
to play with some really talented peoplearound me. Jared you mentioned or defensive
line was incredible, Like literally Ijust had to get to the ball,

(04:44):
miss a lot of tackles, butI made several as well. And yeah,
somehow you look back at your careerand like I had like thirteen hundred
something when you're from coaches stats likethat does even make sense? How that
worked out? Right? And hereI am you also now you're a distinguished
alumni. Yeah, Iowa the Hawkeyes. That's something that bad, not bad
for a big farmer. You know, when I first saw it, I

(05:06):
was like, Oh, he's goingin the Hall of Fame or something,
but I didn't know that they havethe distinguish. It's like Hall of Fame.
It is like that stepped down fromthe Hall of Fame. Oh.
You know as a football player,of course, as a guy, you
want to always I want to makethe Iowa Football Hall of Fame or the
Iowa Hall of Fame, which Ihave not accomplished that yet. A Ring
of Honor would be you know,I'll never be a Hall of Fame level
player in the NFL, but ifI could make Ring of honor, that

(05:27):
would be my hall of fame, which would be awesome. But when you
know, my wife and I obviouslyhave doubled down on charity since we've been
in the Twin Cities, even throughour Gray Duck brands, we give back
to charity and it's always been apart of our lives. And I would
say, you know, as muchfor as much you know bad rap as
you get as professional athletes like theVikings have done such a tremendous job of
give back to this community all acrossMinnesota in the region. And it was

(05:47):
no different for me. So reallywe were able to win that award at
iowall because of our give back toour community here in Minnesota, Iowa,
across the Midwest, and and againit's because of the people in relationships you
build with folks and and uh,you know, that's pretty special award to
win. Well in the lead theway foundation, you guys, you got
your hands in so many different things, and it's so cool because even when
you were playing, you're the CommunityMan of the Year four consecutive years for

(06:10):
the Minnesota Vikings. You're also nominatedfor the Walter Payton NFL Man of the
Year as well. And now we'rehanging out here and would salute to service,
yes, which is super cool.Do you have any background in like
with service members in your family?I do. Yeah. Both grandfathers were
part of the Korean conflict. Bothcame back at one piece, which was
tremendous. They went to high schooltogether. They live about eight miles apart.

(06:33):
Both farmers, one's John Deere,one's International, one's Republican, one's
Democrat, Oil and Water, andtheir oldest kids married each other. Here
we are, Yeah, and soit's pretty pretty special. And love to
get them both that past and lovegetting them talking, taping conversations with my
grandfathers about their experiences and what they'rewilling to share. And I think it

(06:56):
makes you realize now that I'm anadult have kids, the perspective puts on
on you with what the what thosesituations, what those those kids were put
in. The situations is jumping onthe train and going to a plane and
going across the world. I can'tI can't even think about fathom that being
something that I could was able todo, and they they just did it,
and they chose to do It's amazing. Hey monocelle v f W.

(07:19):
Do we have any uh members ofthe military here, Make a little noise
for our members. Thank you verymuch for your service. Our vets say
it. We say it, andwe don't say it enough. And you
know, we live our lives andget to be here and all because of
them. So it's amazing. Whatdid you do in a former life that
you are swimming in a sea ofestrogen? I'm not sure. I'm not

(07:43):
really sure. You are surrounding twosisters, Yeah, I was no,
No brothers, four daughters, beautifulwife, great kids, and you know
it's some one of them is gonnaget married, right at some pole have
a son in law. At leastone out of the forward guy get married.
So no, I'm you know,my it's just I always say,
there's so much testosterone right here. There just wasn't enough, you know,

(08:05):
there was just too much here. You could have somebody else in the house,
right I had to go with thedog, a couple of cats,
whatever, you know, we havesome. I got a couple of donkeys.
Oh you have got some cows. You have donkeys. I got four,
really four donkeys donkeys. You knowwhat happened? So, you know,
grew up on a farm in SouthDakota, had pigs, cows,
farmed a couple of thousand acres withmy with my family. It was a

(08:28):
tremendous way to grow up. Andwhen I finished my career, I always
wanted to get back into some openspace and just you know, once you
grow up that way, you justcan't get enough of it and you feel
like it feels like home. So, uh, we bought some land,
uh west of the cities, andand we I'm like, what do you
put on landing at some Hey,I got a hate field, got a
hate a couple of hay crops thatI'm still trying to sell off. You
might try to buy some hay,let me know, and uh, and

(08:48):
then I'm like, well, wemight as well put a pastor in this
thing and get some donkeys. Anduh was that never a choice? Did
you instally hear the ass? Imean right away? Yeah, right away?
Yeah, you know me good.Well, you know you go on
to Facebook marketplace. It's a wildspot. No, you learn a lot
on those pages, just late atnight after you watch Ben Lever at the

(09:09):
Yeah, I've maybe had a keepit clean, must keep it clean,
and that there are so many donkeysthat there were that somebody's trying to get
rid of them, like you knowwhat, that's it. And then you
you learn to find that donkeys aretremendously territorial and protective. So we have
chickens and we have cows, andwe have all these things out there,
and they're protectors so like you don'tget Kyle's coming through, you don't get
wolves coming through. Like they're protectorsfrom all them and literally will kick a

(09:33):
kyo to death really to protect.Yeah, it's amazing, it's tremendous.
Actually, what they're these donkeys?Oh yeah, yep, yeah, you
let the girls name them or didyou get to name them or so?
They were all born off site andwe're named when they came in. So
we have eleanroy which are full sizebasically yearling's year old. And then we
have you know, they have differentnames that I'm not familiar with on the
donkey world. But then they havewe have too Mini's that are middle aged

(09:56):
and Angie but Angelica is her realname, Angie and Sonny, and then
we have four Scottish Highlander cows. You may see Scottish Highlanders, the big
wooly Yeah yeah, great, goodcall. Uh they're super fun. So
there they were, they were calvesa year ago. We bought them and
the kids. It's awesome. Ilove it those aren't you're not milking those

(10:16):
cowchs. Well, here's how itworks. Okay, you don't melt those
cows, right, but you buythe stuff. You buy the animals,
so you can buy the stuff rightnow. I have a skidloader, of
course with car re attachments. AndI got no, I haven't got implements.
I got. I got gardens everywhere. I got a pumpkin patch,
and I got a watermelon patch, and I got squash come out of my
ears, and I can everything, and I pickle things. And just going
back, man, just going backto how I grew up root cellars in

(10:39):
the whole nine yards. So you'redoing this all How much time are you
spending on your farm as much asthe time is allowed? Yeah? Yeah,
how is that possible because all theother things that you do, well,
kids go to school. Yeah, and uh so I dropped the kids
off us in the morning. Igo to the farm as much as I
can. And you know, tryingto help run some businesses and things too.
But you know, your rest, your rust must so and I'll get

(11:00):
trouble. My brain works too fast, so I gotta stay busy. Okay,
all right, And you know talkingabout the shoot a lot of stuff.
Oh sweet, I do that too. Yeah, so, yeah,
a lot of fun. Have youever shot anything while riding a donkey?
Because that would be bad at yetyou're just sitting on there. Yeah,
but that gives me a challenge fornext week. I'll give you a call.

(11:20):
I want to come out. Imean video, sure, Facebook would
love these bad video. Chad Greenwayis our guest here Salute the Service with
Miller Lite Monticello. We're here atthe VFW. We got more coming up
here. By the way, wewill get into a little bit about the
Saints game coming up here. Youknow, this stupid show. We don't
talk a lot about football at all. Yeah, we don't. We don't.

(11:43):
I don't know if we should reallytalk football much, yeah, at
all, especially about the Saints. For the love of God. Well,
I didn't want to bring it up. Nobody's say two thousand and nine.
Yeah, I mean, it's beena long time ago, but that still
cuts. Yeah deep, that's thatone. Yeah, that one hurts.
So it's like every time time yousee anything like a highlight, they're all
not likable. They're not likable.Fans aren't likable. Sorry, I mean,

(12:07):
you know, The one thing nicepart about being a Viking for life,
playing eleven years here is I don'thave to cheer for anybody else,
you know, I don't have toworry about any other crap or burning a
bridge. This is just all Igot. This is all I got right
here, you know, all Igot is all I need, you know.
So that's you know, what anhonor that is to be able to
play for just one team in theNFL. It doesn't happen for a lot

(12:28):
of players, but you were ableto do so, and do it with
so much dignity, so much skill, and just so beloved here in Minnesota.
Man, that's just kinda feel lost. Yeah, it's you know,
looking back in the career, thatmeans a lot, probably more than almost
anything else in my career. Beable to start and finish where I you
know, where they drafted me,and the people in the organization always supported
me and my family and and itwas tremendous to do it all in one

(12:50):
place. And I think, youknow, jim Client Saucer, Yeah,
Jimmy kay, Yeah, I meanone of the greatest of all time.
Yes, I have like at topfive freak list of like athletic ability,
strength, and Jim is right nearthe top of that. This is this
is a specimen. So I sawhim play all thirteen years and play him
out. You don't see Jim around, but he lives on too in town.
He's around. We see him onoccasion. It's like when he comes

(13:11):
out at Eric Pay But yeah, yeah, yeah, he's I mean literally,
he's that big. But then alsoit's like, oh my god,
I see a fine saucer in person, because it is it's a feat.
It's amazing. Yeah, if youhave a photo of him, it's probably
blurring. Yeah, walk it througha field. Everybody wonders. Real.
So I saw Jim kind of startand finish his way. Obviously he's North

(13:31):
Dakota boy, and it just itjust felt right to have that loyalty.
And I always thought, like,I you know, I got I got
franchise and came back for my secondcontract, and I never really had a
great chance to leave. I didn'treally at that point didn't want to leave.
You know, had children in schooland everything else, and and we
were enjoying it, so why leave. I'm very exciting about this because I
was reading up on this today andthen now, no, no, that

(13:52):
I know you have implements and everythingin use looking for free ones too.
If anybody's out there listening and wantedto give me a couple of free ones
skinty implements or trading for hey,you think I won't. You didn't grow
up in the country. Can barteranything on the farm, and you grew
up in the country. I knowthis. I know you're all watana right.
Yeah, oh, Johanna. Mymy grandparents' farm was in Claremont,

(14:15):
and so they would just you know, cheap labor, send us all kids
all over there. And that's theonly reason picking rock is the worst job
on They've got a good picking rockstore if you want to hear it.
Yeah, okay, good time.Kenny Hostler a good friend of mine growing
up. He's a big farmer backin my hometown. We're picking rock for
my uncle Brad, and uh we'rewe had we had lunch break. Oh
so you got your one blooney sandwichand clock on the farm, you know,

(14:37):
growing up at three o'clock is lunch. Yeah, so dinner's at noon,
breakfast in the morning, then dinner, then lunch, then supper.
And we had a lunch break atabout three and we're jumping back on the
tractor and the three when my unclefired the tractor up right when Kenny was
climbing up to sit on the fenderbecause it was my turn to load rocks.
Well, the three point had settledon the rock box and when Brad
fired it up, Uncle Brad didn'tmean you no harm. Kenny was climbing

(15:00):
up and his foot got caught betweenwhen the three point was going up.
No, ripped his big toe rightoff his body. A true story.
Yeah, his athletic career was shortlived. He didn't. He was never
a good athlete anyways, Kenny, but he's a good dude, and we
get the joke. We get thejoke about it for life, and we
get to yeah, that was apretty drastic way to go. I got
a picking rock, but it didwork. I will say if he was

(15:24):
looking to got some work at workthat way. Chad, there is a
now a competitive fork lifting uh competition? You did this? Oh? I
saw it? Are you thinking aboutgetting in on that? I gotta get
some I gotta put some work in. I've seen operators professionals, and I
got a lot of work to do. Because if it was guy's reliet.
I love that. Don't put anythingon TV, you know that's for then,
and I would watch it. Wouldyou not watch that anything that's a

(15:48):
competition? Man, absolutely would watchthat. All right, let's Steve.
Let's go Steve bringing Food Bringing Foodshow. You're talking about, how you
know you and your wife? Doyou ever do you watch shows? Because
this is a thing for guys,is that we will watch shows that we
really don't want to because you wantto. Is there a show that or

(16:11):
a movie? Are you watching theGolden Bachelor? Nope? Yes, we
don't want me to. We honestlydon't watch TV. We watched sports.
Yeah, all my kids are athletes. They love watching basketball, love watching
different sports. And at our timeto watch like TV, TV is always
like bedtime, like before bed.Yeah, and I hate the TV on

(16:33):
to go to bed, like Iwant a dark, silent cold. She
wants TV. Oh. So she'salways got the Housewives, Real Housewives of
name it, you know, Potomacor Beomna or Mana Celo. Yeah,
that's a good one. I likethat. So she's always got that on.
And I'm always just like you know, trying to fall asleep and I
can't because the TV is on,so like it's bickering back and forth like

(16:55):
all great married couples do. He'swatching it. Yeah, that's what it's
basically saying, right, more hearit, And I'm just like, Lord,
have mercy turn that off. Yeah, it's ridiculous. But then you
find yourself in the morning going allthat. Tracy, I wonder what happened
there? You know I watched thatepisode back. No, but she so
she gets into those a little bit. But we don't watch a lot of

(17:15):
TV in the house, to behonest with you, how about this one,
Kevin Costner, did you guys watchYellowstone at all? We are not
all the way caught up. It'sover good, not over, is it?
No? The new season's coming up. Yeah, but there's like contractual
issues with Kevin, right and allthat kind of Yeah, And I have
watched it. I love it.I'm not all the way caught up on
what's been out though. How aboutthis Kevin Costner? I still don't watched

(17:36):
the last season the Game of Thrones. Oh really, Yeah, I don't
know what I'm waiting for exactly, and I know I know it was the
season eight whatever the season ended upbeing. Yeah, I know it was
a flop, so I'm like,I'm not really motivated to watch it.
So I'm like, I have sucha good view of it. It's after
seven. I'm like, I mightjust let it ride. What a genius
way to start any kind of seriesthat was par There was just so much

(18:03):
going on, a lot going onthe counter, scrowing up the tower.
Yeah, when you get to thetop of the tower, that will draw
dudes in to watch. I wasthen I found that the background, I'm
like, what's going on here rightnow? I'm out, yes, Yeah,
when they got the storyline and you'relike, oh, really, this
just got weird quick. We're talkingabout Yellowstone. But Kevin Costner apparently there's

(18:26):
a rumor that he and Reese Witherspoonare really Yeah, he's sixty eight,
she's forty seven. Well in Hollywoodhe can still he had like five more
kids, sixty eight, he's fine. That's an interesting combination. I never
would have thought about that one.I don't I don't really do the Hollywood
stuff much other than just what Ihear. And you're always good for some
tidbits. Radio folks always got allthe tidbits. Well, we get quick

(18:48):
in front of you every morning somethingon the drama. Right, how about
that show though Yellowstone? Oh mygod, how good? I mean?
And Rip yeah, oh just comeon, you can't make We went as
Beth and repped, so okay,And it's a little cliche because that's what
everybody did, so he could havegot you also could have got original with
something. And oh, I'm sureyou guys win as Barbie and Ken.

(19:10):
Well we we actually had the statesoccer playoff that night. We're at us
Bank. Oh yes, Madden playedin state soccer and and so like we
had no Halloween this year. Ohyeah, kids out of that one shocking
you guys do the costumes like thedual costumes? Well you you remember back
in the day, we used tohave all the Halloween parties, huge pikes.
It was a blast. Yeah, and and these guys went all out.
Yeah. The my favorite year wasthe per Mar security. Like you

(19:33):
know, the yellow jacket guys areat the stadium and we're holding the rope
to let let teammates into Redstone andEden Prairie, which is where the event
was. And I remember Captain Mundelin, remember Captain for us and my wife
and I were holding up you know, we have the jackets on, we
had a little slice of rope wecut, we have you know, wigs
on the whole nine yards and Captaincomes up, gets out his id and

(19:53):
shows it to us. The costumeswere not that good. We thought they
were, but you looked back atthe picture. He's like, no,
come on, you know you lookback at pictures. Is never as good
as you think it is. Okay, let's talk a little little football here.
Yeah, especially if you're guys JoshDobbs, you got to talk amongst
yourself. One unbelievable storyline that goeswith that. I mean the fact that

(20:17):
there's no way he thought he wasgetting on the field. Jaren Hall gets
the concussion, but the fact thathe could get in. Someone said that
he poured over like one hundred andfifty plays. Yep, there's no way
he retained to know. No,but the coaching job that Koc put together
and helping out Josh downs that thatwhole story is just so amazing, and

(20:38):
it kind of feels like we shouldmarinate it and just a little bit longer
this this week. Could I wishwe had to buy a week, yeah,
just to enjoy what happened last weekendin that game. I think we've
all been a part of games likethat. We're watching his fans or when
I was playing, it's like youjust there's just some way this is not
going to work out. Yeah,we all had a good feeling a halftime.
You get to the third quarter.Obviously you lose Jaren who was playing
really well, which was exciting.Yeah. Again second series. Even talking

(21:00):
like last week with Pa, itwas like kN Koc and staff build something
up, game plan to give theseto give this kid's success. Dobbs come
in. You didn't even think aboutit as a fan last week that we'd
have to go to Dobbs. Right, he we brought him in. Okay,
he's got some talent, he's beenbouncing around. What do we really
have there? We don't know.Excited for the young kid to get an
opportunity. Young kid has some flashesin the first couple of drives and all

(21:22):
of a sudden you're with Dobs andyou're like, oh boy, buckle up,
and everybody I'm sure thought, youknow, even though we're homers,
you still have that thought like,oh we can always run them, you
know, you can always run theball. Yeah, with other teams.
Yeah, no, no, werunning games coming along as on a bust
on running games coming along, andand reality is I never believed that that
would that was I don't think anybodydid, no, right, Yeah,

(21:45):
and then you get in that fourthquarter, you see he's just playing football.
He was like backyard football to him. Yeah, and he was just
reacting to what was in front ofhim. And he gets out of the
pocket, makes a couple runs. That fourth down run in the last drive
was twenty years Yeah, feeling upthe pressure and getting to the right spot.
And then and athletic enough to makethe play. Dupre had him for
a sack. I thought he's needa call from behind. Yeah, it
was over and then and then eventhe touchdown run from before, like he

(22:07):
showed flash of athleticism again. Thingsthat as good as Kirk has been.
And I would argue that those lasttwo games at Kirk played before he got
hurt were maybe the two best gameshe's ever played. Yes, as of
Viken, I think it was hewas in that realm, so you're wondering,
how could we get better play fromthe quarterback. And his numbers weren't
gaudy, but the way he madeplays to win the game. Who cares
how it looks and who cares statistically? Just tremendous by Dobbs. And again

(22:30):
you go back to the staff. They were challenged last week with how do
we replace Kirk of all this experienceand knowledge and the way he's playing and
put together a plan for these youngquarterbacks. Thinking it was Jaron turns out
to be Dobbs and like tremendous efterby the coaching staff. You can't give
them enough credit. Dobbs gets alot of love obviously, as he deserves
with the coaching staff put a tremendousa tremendous plan together, and you hear

(22:51):
stories of Koc like drawing the thingson the sidelines and telling him in the
in the year piece like what he'sgonna get from side to side? You
had to win the two minute right, Like two minute offense is so hard
because you're communicating so many things atone time, all while dealing with trying
what kind of pressure is gonna cometrust in your alignment you don't even know
the names of Like just crazy game. It was. It was one of

(23:12):
the most fun games I've watched, you know, when I was watching it
and I started thinking about it,you know, or watching the game,
and I'm like, you know, this is so sweet what Kevin O'Connell's doing
and helping this guy out. Andthey were talking about how yeah he's talking
all the way up to the youknow, fifteen seconds yeah left the yeah,
literally like you could, like whenyou have a ear piece and coaches

(23:33):
talking all some gone yeah like solike you if you don't like it's easier
defensively because it might be a sevenword call, six word calls. Sometimes
it's gonna be a signal. Butoffensive, you're talking fifteen twenty words,
twenty five words if you don't knowwhat comes after that because you have these
little tag words that change the playon the end of a word. Sure
that you might have heard, butwhat's the next word? Right, you
don't know. Now, if you'reKirk, you know what he's thinking.

(23:56):
Because you've been in game plan allweek. You understand the next you understand
the process. Here's what coach wanted. Dobbs had no idea, had no
idea. It was open. Butthink about it. You get a ball,
you get a ball, I'll runthis one. Yeah, let's go
think about back when the Rams andgolf. That's what made me think about
it. I'm like, oh mygod, they've already done this before with
Sean McVay, where they are literallytelling him everything to look for and to

(24:19):
watch all the way up to thefifteen seconds ye and so much so that
people were starting to go, well, it's this golf got anything because they're
just telling him everything he's supposed tobe doing. I thought that was interesting.
I'm like, they're doing the samething from the RAMS bit. Yeah.
And that's that's on the coach havingthe next play ready, so understanding
that the down and distance and say, okay, we got two yards and
first done, run, get secondand eight boom. We got to get

(24:41):
to our catalog of plays right away. And they just probably kept it simple,
got rid of most of the playbookand said here's what we know.
We can go with simple concepts andsometimes it works. Yeah, right,
and now here's the next step, not to you know, not to make
everybody nervous, but then now, sometimes do you just ride with that ability
for him to just go out thereand make plays and keep the game plan
simple because he's only been here aweek, right, like, because he's

(25:03):
played one game and one doesn't makehim all experienced. I mean, it's
so long to put in the timingand the effort to all this. Like,
I still like small sample size.Give him a very small playbook.
Let him make plays. Teach him, obviously the two minute concepts so he's
easier to communicate that. Take more, you know, take less onus on
the coach, but keep that thingsmall. Let him play fast and just
react and play football, because clearlythat can work. He's the first quarterback

(25:26):
to play and start for three differentteams in the same calendar year since nineteen
fifty. For crying out loud, last one before you get to your chicken
sandwich. Yeah it is still warmagain, Monacello. Thank you guys so
much for having us out here, and thank you guys hanging out absolute to
service with Miller Lite and the MinnesotaBikings and hanging out here at the BFW

(25:47):
have to ask because you and Ihaven't done a show together for a long
time, a long time, toolong. But we never invite me back.
Some mean, that's oh, that'sjust it is. Well, that
is not true. He tell youretire now, they do say, as
a professional athlete, the day youretired, you become irrelevant that my wife
doesn't think that. She tells mehow much she loves me every day,

(26:07):
But you are such a lot. There's nothing more irrelevant than a former player.
That's why you start companies that peoplelove. Yeah, drink it.
This is why I don't get him. I don't get him tickets anymore for
concerts. Yeah right, Yeah,he's a good hook up for ticket.
You guys get his information on theway up. Yeah, then come backstage
and get all punchy. It's theweirdness that you do not know your own

(26:30):
strength as a football player, andyou don't know how soft this radio body
is, that you might be oneof the only radio guys has a face
for TV though. I'm just gonnacall it what it is. Well,
I wasn't I appreciate that we wentall the way on television US just the
opposite. We were on television untilthey brought an HD and then they realized,
oh, never mind, how farback can we zoom out? Just

(26:52):
kidding, you know what, Justgo radio. We can't do it too
Shower're just gonna have the camera juston Chad and then the other one just
pan out with musk talks. ButBrian Flores in defense. I gotta imagine
that you're sitting there watching this andjust going I would love to play in
that defense. Yeah, you know, it was kind of you know,
let's go back to when Zimmer camein and I played in this Tampa two

(27:15):
system, which let's call it whatit is. It was bend but don't
break, boring corners, don't lookfor the ball because we're sitting zone,
frustrating the fans. You know, first down, first down, first down,
Okay, we're gonna stop him onthe forty and hopefully missed the field
goal. Then we go to Zimmerand all of a sudden, we are
dictating the tempo. When we're dictatingeverything to the offense. We're double a
gap pressure and we're picking off offensivelinemen and we're hitting the quarterback on the
side of the head, which isso fun, which you can't do anymore,

(27:37):
which sucks. But the good oldday, you can't hit them low
either or the knees or on thehips somewhere you probably shouldn't hit him.
Not sure how that worked. Excuseme, do you mind going down?
There's a spot right here, here'ssomebody. Yeah, just hey, I'm
here just maybe laid out. Let'sjust do everybody a favor. So,
you know, so when I seeFlores come in, I know what these

(27:57):
players are excited out, and Iknow that there they want to peel their
pin their ears back and play downhilland play fast and dictate the tempo and
the play call to the offense.Because you're always reacting as a defensive player.
What are they gonna do. They'regonna motion, We're gonna react to
it. Well, now you getto dictate some tempo to the offense and
we're gonna bring some pressure. We'regonna show something. We're gonna fall out
of it. You know, Havingexperienced guys like Harry Mattelsa has been a

(28:19):
great kind of weapon for us tobe able to do that. With the
defensive line has gotten, They've gottencreative with how they're getting pressure. It's
been fun to watch and it's beenfun to see them how much better they've
gotten. And is now if wecan just keep this thing going, it's
gonna kind of lean start to lean, I think, especially with the young
quarterbacks, can we lean on ourdefense to win some of these games?
In this five game stretch was goingto be so important to basically dictate how

(28:40):
the season ends. Yeah, andit's been great. Even in his four
games stretch that we've had, we'rebeen tremendous. Defense has won at least
a couple of games for the MinnesotaVikings. And I don't know what it
is, but all of a sudden, all I could think about is like,
I wonder if Chad has a manurespreader for his dumb No, I
don't, I don't. I starteda good compost pile, but open when
spreader though. That weird that Ipopped into my head. I wanted to
know about the b flow this bookmarketplace, guys, I'm telling you one

(29:03):
will pop up that is in myprice range that I want. I'm on
it. Have you That would beone of my favorite days when I hear
from you that you're like, hey, I haggled four on the newers and
bites you out for a little bit. Chack Greenaway, Ladies and gentlemen,
number fifty two, let's get himinto that ring for goodness sakes, pro

(29:25):
bowler and one of the greatest Vikingsthat has ever been in Minnesota. Man,
And I mean that on and offthe field, and just a tremendous
dude. Thank you, love you, buddy, Yeah, I love you,
but thanks for having me Man absolutelyMiller like, thanks for having us
