Speaker 2 (00:12):

the shotgun, Aaron Jones by his side, Random Powell in

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Throws touch down, Donald.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
To Justin Jefferson, dam looking right, swings back to the center,
fires and touchdown.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Jallan Nailer.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
That's three for Darnald today, three for Nailer this season,
and the Vikings lead by three touchdowns. Darnald shotgun fires
to the center of the end zone and it is
caught touchdown. Johnny Munt and the Minnesota Vikings have taken
a thirty seven lead.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
It's Johnny mont.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Startled back to pass, takes the shoulders, dumps to Jones.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Walks into the end zone, touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Vikings.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
That Darren Jones first touchdown wearing the colors.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Showtime, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to Vikings Country with Miller life.
I'm must we saved the best highlight for last, Ladies
and gentlemen, A member of the six thousand club, sixty
eight yards rushing. He's played in one hundred NFL games.

(01:41):
He's got forty six touchdowns on the ground, so it
looks like fifty coming maybe even this week against his
former club. And he's also got nineteen touchdowns receiving and
a little over two thousand yards receiving receiving. Ladies and Jones,
Eric Jones.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
How are you, buddy? I'm doing great at you. Oh fantastic.
One hundred games in the NFL, buddy.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
That's a nice milestone. You know, it's hard for some
people to even see one. So none of those games
were taken for granted. Each one took it serious and
just blessed to see one hundred. Like I said, game
one technically on the active roster, but I wouldn't even
suited out. So this is my but this was my

(02:29):
one hundredth game actually playing it.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
So so UTEP already has like a statue you have
you put you in the Ring of Honor and all that.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
No sor they've done none of that yet I'm the
all time leading resher there. But now it's been eight
years since I left and nothing not of Jersey retired,
no hall of Fame, no nothing. So I'll just wait
talk in the NFL's Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
There, there you go, there you go. Love that showtime.
You heard Paul Allen say that that is your nickname.
But here's the thing showed time, is that the bank vault.
We were all looking forward to this.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Now.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
I know we have a Lambeau leap that you should
do there with the other people that we're gonna be
playing this week, But the bank vault, we were looking
forward to it.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
You called it, I called it.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
So the side I scored on that that wall is
kind of high, Like I'm like, man, I'm gonna have
to wait till I get down on the other or
I'm gonna be climbing the wall. So once we got
the ball on the other on the other side, the
side we run out of that tunnel. Yes, we were
like on the one and I was in my mind,
I had, hey, I'm gonna get in, So I told
I looked and told JJ I'm like, hey, I'm I'm doing.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
A bank vault. Like he was like where where?

Speaker 4 (03:40):
And I was like, right here, straight in front of me,
you know, right where the kind of those suits are.
Oh yeah, I kind of want to go up in
the stands though, but right right right, No, just on
that one side is kind of Hih'm.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Gonna have to kind of figure that one out first.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
That or just like, hey, O'Neill, you just get somebody
just told me I'll give me a booh.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Me out there.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
But nonetheless, man, it has been so awesome to have
you here as a Minnesota Viking. And that first game,
we're like, ninety four yards. How do we not get
him to one hundred? One that? But one o two
last week, buddy.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
One O two, I'll take it. Yeah, anytime you can
hit that hundred yard mark is it's huge. Even even
game one ninety four, I'll take that as well. You know,
it's hard to get one hundred in this league. And
Koc left me out there. We had some time left
on the clock. He left me out there to try
to get it in one or two carries, and he
was like, Hey, if you.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Don't get it, i'm gonna bring you out.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
And I just thanked him for leaving me out there
to try to get it.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
You know are you in his year? At that point,
we're like, you know, I don't know if you know this,
but someone else told me. I wasn't paying it, but
someone told me I'm really close to hitting that hundred mark.
Have you got one? Almost one fifty total rushing yard
or total yards total?

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yesterday too short? But no, So this sign like my
first game in New York, this sign no. The players
no koc very well. They were about to send in
Miles for him to kind of me and ty, we're
gonna be out of the game and it's gonna be myus.
Just run run the ball the rest of the game.
I think it was like four minutes left, and so
they called me. I'm looking to the sideline Miles is

(05:12):
about to run on, and then he gets there and
he's like, hold on, they just called me.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Back off.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
And the next receiver who runs on, he's bringing in
the play and he's like, hey, coach said, you're six
yards from six or eight yards from one hundred yards,
go get it. You got one or two carris and
then he's bringing you out. So this is the receiver
coming on telling me this. And but before that, Bo
Brian O'Neills in the Huther. He was like, he's looking.

(05:37):
He was like, you must be close to one hundred yards,
like because I wasn't coming out.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
At that time.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
So I'm like, hey, y'all really know KO like this
this is this is amazing. And then even last week
he was like, he was like, you're I want to say,
he said your eight yards again, I was like eight yards.
He was like, your eight yards away from one hundred
He said, go get He was like, you got you
better go get a quick.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Or I'm pulling you out.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
And then my my next two carries, I got in
and I thanked them and it was like I said, and.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
I told you that the show is stupid. And the
only thing that I really stuck with me there is
that Brian O'Neill has maybe one of the worst nicknames.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
B O Bo body Odor.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
So here your parents, you grew up in a military family,
so you traveled all over the place there in the
US Army.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Correct, yes, sir, And.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
So you lived in like Germany and Kentucky and Tennessee
and Virginia and you're right there in El Paso. Right,
here's the thing that's why you were the Umbrero. But
what I have to ask you, is that what kind
of a palette must you have? I mean, because you've
gone growing up from Schnitzel, hot su, bourbon terre, fried

(06:49):
beans and beer and cheese.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Let's just say my gut can tolerate it all. I gotta.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
I got a why range of foods I like to eat.
I think, I think even like when you look at
like some of the things that I'm into what I wear, sombrero, this, that,
and the other people are.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Like, how does that match him?

Speaker 4 (07:10):
But I'm kind of literally, like you say, from all
over and that's what makes me.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
But I got a strong stomach.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I like to he's got the iron gun.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Here.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Aaron Jones is my guest Vikings Country here with Miller
Light and KPN. We're hanging out here at a couple
jacks in Bloomington. We're giving away tickets in the Miller
Light Lounge stopping out here. I'll be out here until
eight thirty along with our Viking Street teamers and also
our Miller Lite folks. Okay, you got seven years at
Green Bay. What was the attraction for you for Minnesota

(07:42):
when when you were like, oh hey, this is an
opportunity was what was the thing that was a draw,
and it couldn't have been because the Cheese Kurts. They're
better every wiscons.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
No over the last especially the last two years competing
against this team. Just watching the offense, I'm like, hey,
I feel like I've fit really good in this offense.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
They got a bunch of weapons over there.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
I feel like I could add value and all the
eyes aren't just gonna be on me. There's so many
weapons that they're gonna have to focus on other people,
not just hone in on me. And then Koc just
hearing people talk about him, his philosophy, seeing the way
he was calling plays was familiar with Wes as well.

(08:24):
He's a UTEP alarm shout out utep.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Still don't have a statue.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
We still don't have a statue, but yeah, he's alum.
So just just comfortable and kind of knowing a little
knowing people a little bit, and also knowing it wasn't
a far move as well. Four hours I'm gonna have
to pick pick up and move everything.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
But four hours isn't too bad.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Right, absolutely? Okay, so then with your move here, I
mean there's so many new faces for Vikings fans. I
mean Grenard and Dallas, Turner and Gilmour and Griffin. Most
of them are on the defensive side, of course, But
did that make it easier for you to be the
quote unquote new guy because there were just a lot
of new faces and a lot of new people coming.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
In, Yes, sir, you know.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
And then the locker room over there, the locker room,
they welcome you in with open arms. You know, you
can be new, but they'll they'll treat you like you've
been there forever, Like I was.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
TJ. Hawkinson was the first.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
One to greet me as soon as I walked in
the building.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
So it doesn't get any better than that.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
When you're starting tight end who's a pro bowler comes
in and welcomes you in and is excited to have you.
And it just echoed from there everybody else throughout the
facility how happy they was to have me, how excited
they were already to get me in the building and
on the right side of the of the rivalry.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Aaron Jones, this man, everybody has talked about it. How
much of a great teammate, a locker room guy, and
always a smile on your face. And I mean, this
is a short part of the interview and I already
see that right there. But you're playing your former team.
Is that bill up more for like the fans, because
how much do we love Green Bay? Right? But for

(10:07):
like the media and the fans, going and playing your
former team, does that really put an impact on players
or is it just like, Hey, this is just another game.
I'm just gonna recognize a lot of faces.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
It's another game where you're gonna recognize a lot of faces.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
But it does give you.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
That that little edge where hey, like, this used to
be my home and quite frankly still that still that's
still my s h i T. Yeah, he told me,
watched my language spell that out now because this is

(10:43):
my home, but that's still my like I said, that's
and I had that same mentality when we went down
to Dallas.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
That's what I uh last year, That's what I told
the team.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
I'm like, Hey, this is this is my s h
i T and causes so it's our s h i T,
you know. And and that's the mentality that I'm going
to take take onto the team this week.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Hey, I don't even know if we can actually play
that on there, and I know that Brett Lakemore sorry,
it's back our studios and now Brett he's named after
Brett Farv and he's the only one that works in
our building that actually grew up as a Packer fan.
But he is a big Vikings fan. Just ease up.
But I told him that he would be able to

(11:24):
ask a question because Aaron Jones is one of his
absolute favorites. So after the dump button has been hit
several times, take it away, buddy, Yeah, I think I
hit it.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Bleeps.

Speaker 6 (11:36):
No, I just wanted to say, yeah, I was born
into it. I know it's thanks, but behalf behalf of cheese.
I just want to say thank you for all the
work he put in with our club. Uh that reception
you're gonna get, we all still love you. Uh you
know it's going to be a warm reception. Is that
going to mean a lot to you coming back to Lambo?

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Definitely? That's That's one of the questions I've been asked
this week. How am I?

Speaker 4 (11:58):
How do I think I'm going to be perceived or greeted?
I was like, I don't know, it might be fit
Like it's been fifty to fifty so far. Some people
were like, we understand it's a business. That's while he
left in the other half are like, oh, he could
have chosen another team, but so I was. I hope
it's warm, and if it is warm, then I'm definitely
gonna be grateful.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
You know.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
It's a lot to be thankful for us. A full
circle moment, gratitude. That's where it all started for me.
That's where I got to kind of make a name
for myself, improve myself. So really just a full circle
moment and sit there and like close my eyes right
and thank thank God for it because without him, I
wouldn't have been there and I wouldn't be here.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
So all right, Brett, we're gonna cut that out when
it comes to the podcast.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Just your question.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
The rest of it, we're gonna keep in there. Aaron
Jones is hanging out with us here Vikings Country and
with Miller Light. Hey, you can join Pa at the
Champlain BW three. He's a bww's they put on there
this Friday from nine until noon. Friday Football Fee's happened
at BW three. That's gonna be happening with COR's Light.

Buffalo Wild Wings BWW for full schedule details coming up here. Next,
Vikings Country in our five typically stupid Vikings Country questions,
and we'll talk just a little bit about Vikings taking
on Green Bay or catching it.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Here on the Fan, it's time for Vikings Country, brought
to you by Miller Lyte. Now here's your host of
Vikings Country from Kfan and the Vikings Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Musk Josh Totels Deep center field Pan Ginkhole comes on
a twist hand downtost DJ Andrew Van.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Ginko by action from under center, Holly's Pad, Penny's nacked, Say.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Jay's drought sacked by the former Texan Jonathan Grenard.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
This is a what do we got here?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Fifty eight yard try right hash by Riker, his first
fifty yard attempt in the National Football League. Snapspot Rychfert's
kicked with plenty of leg and oh he hit the
yeah with room.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
He hit the upright and it went through.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
This kid's unbelievable thought.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Jones grew him up.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
The middle of the thirty five, busted out to the
right till the twenty five. He's to the ten and
he leaped through the end zone and he came up
just George. It's a thirty nine yard run by Aaron
Jones and the Minnesota Vikings have it first den to
Gold at the old Texans one yard line.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I don't know why Brett Blake Moore would play that
knowing hurting hurt. You're so close, you're so close going here?
Did you catch grief? Watch it go?

Speaker 5 (14:49):
I caught a lot of grief. Here're saying it's when
it happened. I just laid there.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
I know you that's just laid there for a second
because I knew I was sick about it, because I
really wanted to score, but then also just knowing the
grief that I was gonna get. And JJ was for
sure the first one to let me know. I got
up and he's right there, touch on my home and
he said, you're a bum.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
I say, you're right. I deserve that one.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Aaron Jones is my guest Vikings Country here with Miller Lai,
the great crowd that we have here in Bloomington and
Cowboy Jacks. Take us seat for a second. If you
want to go eat your food, because I gotta do this.

and we have so far with three wins so far
for your Minnesota Vikings. Let's talk about Sam Darnold.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
I mean, my.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Goodness, he leads the NFL eight touchdowns so far, and
he has the best completion percentage of his career in
three games. He's absolutely been spectacular.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
He's been amazing. Uh, kudos to him.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Uh you know I I He's had our full support
since he's came in. And we we've seen it in camp.
We're like, hey, we're not not even camp. Ota is like,
hey he can he can spin this ball, you know,
and uh, as we get to during that time, it's
just Ota. So there's no pressure on you. You you're havn't
gotten any Yeah. So we get in the camp and

(16:34):
oh it's mini camp. Actually is the first time I've
seen it. We have a defense out there, they're flying around,
but JJ comes back. JJ makes the first play, then
Jordan Addison's the very next play, Jordan makes a play and.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Sam is throwing both of these guys a line hold on.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
This is this is how it's supposed to look, you know,
And I'm like, we got something. But seeing those two
guys make a play with Sam is like me to
go make a play.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Then they call a play from me in the.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Red zone and he throws a perfect dot and I'm like, yeah,
we got something.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
We got a guy here, you know.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
And then get to camp and he's just reassuring it
every day, takes command of the huddle. He's a he's
a great leader, and I feel like people just kind
of wrote him off too fast. But he didn't write
hisself off. And that's the biggest thing. He's confident in
himself and he's letting that show on.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
The field, all right.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Three to three Aaron Jones with his Vikings Country in
the five typically stupid Vikings Country questions. Here we go.
First one, I saw you postgame. You were talking to
Tom pel Sero, who is dot com Tom that we
know him from kfan here, but also he's a big
deal of the NFL network, and you guys were talking
and then the one thing here is like, I gotta
get going because I don't want to miss the postgame song.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
And I missed it.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Oh no, what is?

Speaker 5 (17:46):
What is?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
The postgame song.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Is many Men by fifty cent? Okay, And it's just
I don't know. When you hear everybody in the locker
room singing and it just vib into it is it
kind of gets you going. It's a little bone chilling.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
I love it all right here. Number two in the
five typically stupid Vikings Country questions nightlife and asked, I
won't spell off the rest of it nightlife and asked
to do in Green Bay or the Twin Cities? Which
one's better?

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Oh, it's way more to do here.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Ware in Green Bay has nothing to do. You gotta
go somewhere else to experience anything. It's just what was
the hotspot there in Green Bay?

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Okay? The office?

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Yeah, I've actually been there.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Question number three, Oh man, that one. My wife's gonna
be mad about what he learned about Justin Jefferson since
being a teammate.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
That's how he called you a bum that he uh,
you know, he goes he has all those stats and accolades,
but and he's considered a superstar, but he doesn't walk
around or treat himself or treat other everybody like he's
above them or like he's a superstar. He's he comes
in the building like he's just a normal person like
everybody else. And I mean, I can't do nothing but

(19:11):
respect that. When you're getting nothing but pats on the back,
is you know it can be. I feel like it
could be easy to kind of change change who you are.
And he's he's done the same from meeting him, from
when when he first got into league to being on
his team now he's he's kind of stayed the same person.
And and then he pushes everybody around him as well.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, we saw him on receiver and he needs to
get a new place. Nor next question in our five
typically stupid fucking's country Russians here or there? In Jones,
the RB room, in the running back room. Uh you
got ty Chandler, which everyone's already talked about this, and
just in the three games that you probably have a

(19:53):
big influence on, even his running game. He's got more
patience than he's had in the past. C. J. Hamm
and of course Gas in there. But you are famous
for the sombrero. You love hats who who needs to
work on their fits in that running back room? Because

(20:13):
I feel like it's gonna be c J. Ham He's
from Duluth. It's nothing but pants and flannels.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
I got the dash style going on.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
You know, he's worried about getting his three kids ready
for the game before he's getting ready. So he's like, cool,
I got this out, let me throw it on. I
don't know, I'm gonna have to go back there. That's
that's a really good question. I'm not have to go
back and look at some pictures in Yeah, yeah, now
you're going off the bus. Now, I'm gonna get those
guys something if I see if I see the slags,

(20:44):
I'm gonna give him something.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Minus CJ with Darisa Brendell and Brad Berry ingram O'Neil.
Do you feel and the way things are going so far,
are you instantly going damn? Now, I gotta get him
something nice for Christmas to keep going this way?

Speaker 5 (21:01):
One hundred percent. But it's not the odd damn.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
It's more of like excitement, like if I'm getting you something,
that means we're doing something right, you know, So let's
keep it like let's keep it going.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Absolutely show in this three and O. I mean, you
guys are.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
Winning, but all of them, all of them make more
money than me. You forgot, they don't pay the running backs.
Sure you're looking for something, I'm looking at CD.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Start getting wishless?

Speaker 5 (21:31):
CD. What you got for me?

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Three and oh and you guys are winning in a
dominant fashion. It has been absolutely so much fun. Aaron Jones,
Ladies and gentlemen, buddy, thanks absolutely my favorite you got.
They're just so much fun. And I just love how
much you really enjoy playing football. You really enjoy doing.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
All of this.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
Thank you me.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
It's a lot, and I'll continue to keep it up.
And every time I step on that I'm playing with
my heart. I leave it all out there and I'm
playing for you guys, So I'm gonna keep it going.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
The smile is huge over here in Bloomington. Thank you
guys so much for coming out. We got tickets. We're
still giving away up until eight thirty and then check
it out. Every Tuesday we're doing Vikings Country. You can
check it out at Vikings dot com slash Vikings Country.
