(00:01):
Wayne Dtay and Bama on Naughty eightone kved Austin's all time country favorites.
I'll tell you the three of uscame in here on this Tuesday morning by
the skin of our teeth. Wejust the door hit us in the back
by the time that song was ending. So we're all kind of just getting
set. It's fine. It's likea Monday in here. It's fine.
We're gonna make it work. Tuesdaysare like a second Monday. Really yeah,
(00:24):
no, I wasn't saying, likereally question mark, like really honestly
four day work week. Anyway,Bama, how you doing over there?
You're good, plug, I'm goodred rock really, and let's start with
a little uh up and up tall. You want to start? What you
got? What's awesome? I founda new drink at Starbucks that I'm obsessed
with. It is so good.It kind of reminds me of like Christmas,
(00:48):
but it's not. I don't knowit's it's a chaiiti latte, but
you put a pump of vanilla init and then you put the vanilla cream
on top. It is so good. So I have that this morning.
So that's she's ready to rock thereshe's got a caffeine bamba. What's going
on? Is there any coffee inthere? With all the vanilla? It
sounds like you ordered a vanilla shakeand poured a little coffee taste, Like,
(01:11):
honestly, for real, what aboutyou? Man? We started,
Uh, we watched The Bodyguard. It's six episodes. We watched it,
I don't know seven, eight yearsago and it was hilarious because we sat
down and it just like popped upand Jamie said, oh, let's watch
it for a minute. Six episodeslater where we sat in band something we'd
(01:34):
seen seven and I didn't remember onesingle thing from it. It was like,
I've never seen it before. Mydaughter, mine is my daughter saw
the Beetlejuice two trailer and she's like, oh, when's the what was the
first one? I'm like, oh, oh, that was a long time
ago. And actually and it likebrought me back when I was a kid.
(01:59):
I stayed. It would go betweenbecause it was just my mom and
I and I would go between whenshe would work nights, I would stay
with my grandma. And then ifmy mom and my grandma were working,
I would stay with my great grandma. And then it turned into like once
every two weeks. I would stayFriday nights at my great Grandma's house and
we would always go to Country Kitchen, small little restaurant in Minneapolis where she
(02:25):
knew all the waitresses and the waiters. She would light her Virginia slim and
then just leave it on the tableand not even touch it. Right,
So the fact that I'm still hereis amazing. And then we would go
to Target. I would get atoy, and then we would go to
tidal Wave Video, which was likethe Blockbuster Video, and I'd get to
pick out a couple of movies andinstead of renting, she would just buy
(02:46):
them. And so one of themwas Beetlejuice. It was Beetlejuice and Batman
were the original Batman, and Iwould watch those religiously. And so my
daughter started asking me about like theoriginal Beetlejuice. So I went onto Amazon
and bought it the digitals for likeninefolks. We haven't watched it yet,
but I told her her and Iare probably gonna watch it maybe this week.
(03:08):
Sometimes I'm jealous. I'm so jealousof her getting the Sea Beetlejuice for
the first time. Yeah, sucha good movie. And that's It's like
with Heay when getting to see allthe movies, She's going to get to
see that for the first time.I'm so jealous that you get to see
though, and I will tell youit's it's I'm excited to sit down and
(03:28):
watch it and I might like gether reaction, like put something on our
Instagram or something. But at thesame time, I'm worried about the number
two movie because the Number one islike a cult classic. I think either
you love it and appreciate it,where you're like, yeah, that's right,
but there's no in between. Andso I have a fe like there's
a lot of pressure on this secondone. Yeah, I mean that's how
(03:49):
it is with a lot of theseremakes these days. I feel like,
but I feel like they know that, right, they know like, hey,
we have to really deliver on thisbecause this is a classic. The
reviews came out, you know,Sunday, and then through Monday, that
new Ghostbusters movie is getting torn apart. They're ripping it up big times.
However, we watched the We watchedRoadhouse Roadhouse too, and it was actually,
(04:14):
I hate to say, it wasactually pretty good. I like Jay
Jillenhall. He made me laugh acouple of times. Really yeah, uh,
you want to check in anytime?Do it the iHeart Radio app.
We got a brand new game. We'll talk about that a little bit later.
I can't wait. Cole Swin downnow on ninety eight one kvet,
Wayne Dtay and Bama got the firstthought. I got so excited talking about
the iHeart Country Festival in that lastbreak you were I was supposed to seg
(04:35):
the Bama being like, oh,coming up, here's my first thought,
and I just was like, buytickets now. I know well, I
was caught up in it too,and I forgot all about it too.
So it's first hot time, Bama. What's on your mind this lovely morning?
This is interesting. I was talkingto a young person, just like
last week about how much they makeand what they gotta have to survive,
and then that survey come out.Did you guys see that survey about how
(04:59):
much you have to make to livein the top thirty cities. I saw
something in the news about it.I saw the Vegas one. Austin wasn't
in there, but every city wasover one hundred thousand people or dollars rather
I'm sorry for one hundred thousand dollars. I saw the one because like from
our time in Las Vegas, Istill see like the Vegas news stories pop
up and for a single individual abase salary and this is just like to
(05:26):
survive. And this is like ahouse. This isn't like is eighty six
thousand dollars a year? Well it'snow one hundred and ten on the average.
New York was the highest. Itone thirty eight. Everything was still
over one hundred. There was abunch of towns that were well cities,
let me call them cities. Abunch of them were in like the one
O three one of but all ofthem were over one hundred thousand. And
(05:49):
is Wayne pointed out, this isjust a single person to survive. And
that doesn't include if you have akid, you having any bills or anything
like. It's like, I mean, this was just your rent, your
food, car payment, insurance taxes. Because you got to figure taxes takes
thirty right off the top, soyou know, you immediately dropped the seventy
(06:12):
five eighty somewhere in there. JustI don't know how young people are going
to live. I really don't.You're going to do it organized crime.
I mean it's sad because for likemillennials and stuff, buying a house these
days is just it's like a dreamthat might not ever happen. And not
only that, No, the sadthing is like chasing your dreams. Like
(06:32):
for me to get where i'm myfirst radio gig, my base salary,
full time benefits twenty one thousand dollarsa year. That's what my contract,
you know what I mean. Andso to think if somebody wanted to and
I don't know what like the goingrate to start in radio is today,
but could you imagine if they werelike, hey, we are still twenty
(06:53):
one thousand dollars. I've worked myway up to twenty two to five.
Now I want to say it's aboutlike thirty five the starting like full time
starting. Let me tell you,if you're an employer and you're offering thirty
five to somebody who's dedicating full timeemployment to you, that you're a joke.
You got to do better. Yougot to pay pre nowadays, like
(07:15):
if you can't afford to pay people, don't hire people. Is what it
comes down to. It's impossible tolive off of thirty fives and that reminds
me now that we're getting on asoapbox. This was Bama's first stop.
But now the three of us areI'm sorry, but no, no,
no, but this is y'all's deal. But so, but I want to
say where, Oh, my son'sPlayStation controller, like the sticks weren't working,
(07:36):
so you can trade it in andthey still give you money. And
so and so I went to Istopped at Target, and then we stopped
at the game store and the gamestore had this thing saying sorry, due
the lack of staffing, here's ournew hours, and it was handwritten on
the thing. Yeah, but I'msure they can't pay them kids nothing to
work there. So the kids arelike, oh, wow, what you
were talking about, Tay, You'vegot to have a down payment of ten
(07:59):
to fifty Oh my gosh, theinterest rates to nowadays insane. You gotta
have thirty thousand dollars to put downon a house. You know who could
really walk you through the whole process, though, as my friend Chris Waters
and Waters International real if you visitthem online at Christopher Waters with two Teas
dot com. This is how he'sincreasing his more country music coming up,
(08:20):
plus details on this brand new gamewe're playing next Phil Vasser. You know,
when we say we are Austin's alltime country favorite, that doesn't just
mean the George Straits and the Rebamagatiresof the world, the Dolly Parton.
I mean, there's songs like thatthat you almost forget about that are that
are really a part of the fabricawhat we do here too. Uh ninety
eight one vet is proud to beyour home for Texas Longhorns Athletics. You
(08:43):
know, we celebrated the football season. We were just carrying men's basketball.
And as much as the boys arealready out of March madness, they had
a great season. But that's butthat's the thing is just because you lose
doesn't mean you're a loser of theteam, you know what I mean.
The season is not a loss. No, But we're through talking about you
now we're talking about the ladies.Yeah yeah, so sit on boys.
(09:03):
No, I'm kidding. Fantastic seasonby the boys and we look forward to
next year. But man, themLonghorned ladies, they look like they are
are forced to be reckoned with. They beat up Alabama really really well.
So now we go what Friday,we play this Friday, So it's sweet
sixteen they've moved on to the nextround here, and I mean sixteen teams
left in the nation. And obviouslywe'll continue to talk about it this week
(09:26):
and hype up the ladies. Butlet me tell you that's that's one thing
that I appreciate, especially as adad with a young daughter, is watching
women's athletics excel, you know whatI mean, and get more attention,
especially ladies basketball here in Austin. So, ladies, who got you back?
And we can't wait to see whaty'all do the rest of the way
here. Say obviously, what Tayneeds her a jersey? I do need
(09:48):
one. I'm always touting how thefootball team hasn't sent me a jersey yet,
and I'd love to rep the ladiestoo. And you know what,
I love seeing our community like embrace. That's true ladies, that's true in
this as well. That's cool. However, I've seen Bob Pickett's entire family.
I mean, I'm talking about cousinsand jerseys, and I think he's
hey, So I think he's soakingall that up. Man. Something tells
(10:09):
me that Bob Pickett has my jerseyin his closet. That's what I'm saying.
I mean, it's like got themall, you know. It's ninety
eight one Cavett, Wayne Dtail andBama. Thanks for letting us be a
part of your morning. Austin's alltime country favorites, Wayne Dtay and Bama.
Got your shot to see he's wentsuper viral with his rich rich men
north of Richmond's on Anthony, allover the place. He's rolling through and
(10:33):
we're gonna get you in coming upat seven ten with the secret word Weatherwise,
Bama, we actually ran into somepretty strong weather. What was it
Sunday night? Well, Sunday nightin is yesterday morning that it rained like
we had predicted. So we gotone ride. Hey how about that?
It's fundweatherwheel got one right right here. So this week though, seventies and
(10:54):
beautiful, it's gonna be a perfectweek. We'll take it. Carrie Underwood
got you singing along on a Tuesdaymorning. Now, hey, Austin,
here's what's trending in the ATX withTay. So there's a local elementary school
that have begun renovations despite some likesecurity concerns. The Austin Independent School District
(11:15):
built Oak Hill Elementary School in nineteenseventy four and now the approval of the
twenty twenty two bond. The campussaid that they're going to improve security while
enhancing the learning environment. So that'sawesome this year, I love it putting
some time and effort into our schools. Dig it. Next, there are
a lot of coyote sidings through theyear here in Austin, but the city
(11:39):
says that you might start seeing themeven more this month. They're entering Denning
season. So the Austin Animal Centersays, look out. Just you know,
be aware of your surroundings and especiallyif you've got small dogs and stuff,
just be on the lookout. Isthey Hongry, Yes, I'm entering
(12:00):
Danny season. My man looking likea Grand Slam over here. It's fine
Grand Slam. That's awesome. I'vegot three plates. And last, McDonald's
has a spinoff concept. You've probablyseen it on social media. It's called
Cosmics. Well, they're officially herein Texas. They opened up their first
(12:22):
restaurant this last week in Dallas, according to the company's social media But this
kind of marks I think it's theirsecond ever restaurant in the country. And
when we go up to Frisco tocover the acm org stuff. We should
make a trip to Dallas. Weshould pick this place out. Yeah,
but they've got I mean, theirmenu looks really good. They've got mcflurries
(12:43):
and mcmuffins. But they also havetheir signature gap. I can't even galic.
How do you pronounce that galaxy? No galica, lactic galactica. It's
like a slushie, I guess. But it looks really cool, awesome.
(13:05):
We should go just to watch DayOrder. That's the ATX Austin's all time
country favorites, Naughtia One Cavet withWayne Dtay and Bama. Now, if
you're listening yesterday, we kind ofbeat ourselves up over open Mic Monday.
We're like, we don't know ifyou like it. We hope you like
(13:26):

make sure we played this. Heyguys, Tim from Georgetown, Hey,
I love your Open Mic Monday.Don't stop. I take some of the
jokes if I tell them to mygrandkids at night when I see them.
So yeah, I love your OpenMic Monday. Thanks guys. You guys
are great. So I have agreat week. You too, Tim.
(13:46):
He that was from Tim yesterday.Uh, thank you for the feedback,
and it sounds like like we're playingit back because we said something nice about
us. We appreciate the fact thatyou listen, whether it's Tim, or
it's you in your car or yougetting your kids ready to get him out
the door for the bus, ifyou give us any time in the morning,
thank you for that. Honestly, from all three of us. It
means so much. So we gotthis new game. The reason why I'm
(14:09):
now, I'm segging to the newgame because I hope people like this too.
I thought of two new games.I told Tay to pick the one
that has to do with the timelineor one that has to do with just
music, and she said just music. So it's called because Tay and me
are going against each other. It'sheyos the music and I don't. That's
why she picked that. It's Tayversus Bama. The game is called play
(14:31):
that back, Oh gosh, andit's coming up in less than six minutes.
Y'all got to play along with ustoo. Tay Versus Bama ninety eight
one. At about ten minutes,Austin's all time country favorites. It's Wayne
D. Tay and Bama about toplay a brand spanking new game. I'm
so excited for this. I'm nervous. I'm just excited. So it's called
play that back. What you're gonnaget a song played in reverse? Okay,

What is he? Didn't do thatone? Does he? I don't know.
Georgetraight Amarillo by Morning. No,it's not the one say for the

(16:22):
it's not George Straight. It isa George Straight song. Bama one
more time. It's George Straight. So I got that right. And it's
yes or no, check yes orno if you wanted to. I think
(16:47):
it's that's look at that. Heytell you. Let's look at the scoreboard
real quick. One nothing, bamall right, round one, round one,
taste turn, Here we go.It's called play that back new game.
Here we got in a noise.Let me meet the nap say he'll
(17:08):
be idiots up. That sounds demonic, I know, scary. All I'm

(17:29):
and good job with his fingers.Round one, we got Round two,
let's play that back up next.Ninety eight one Cavette Austin's all time country
favorites, Naughty eight one Cavett withWayne Dta and Bama. So it's one
one first round, y'all tied right, So Bama's up again. Here's your
first song of the next round.Drop Bama. It is a song that
(18:04):
is on the ninety eight one kAT playlist. The game is called Rewind
Songs in Reverse. It's you getit one more time? Oh no,
I can? Can I steal?Am? I allowed to Kenny Chisney,
(18:26):
it is not tay for the steal, Luke Combs, long cold beer.

(19:07):
That's okay. It sounds like Timograw, right it is. I'll confirm
you gotta get The title makes mewant to say, put some matches under

Can I steal it? Yeah?If he doesn't, if he doesn't get
(20:17):
it, I know, Oh mygosh, I know. Go ahead you
I don't know it. You don'tknow it. Trisha yearwould, She's in
love big. Let's go Bama, don't have fun wins. Thanks for playing
(20:47):
long. That's the rewind game thatwe're calling. Play it back nainety eight
one Cavett. It's Jason L.Dan. He'll be inside the Movie Center
on May fourth, part of theiHeart Country Festival presented by Capitol One.
It's Naughty a one Kvette with WayneD. Tay and Bama and now Fama's
bonehead. Tell you this was justfor you. So across the country.
(21:08):
It started in California, but acrossthe country, certain police forces are putting
Lego heads on suspects of non violentcrimes, mug shots and pictures that they
post online. They'll put these Legoheads on them. And they thought it
was hilarious. Everybody thought it wasfunny, except for the Lego company and
(21:32):
desist too. They started with thevery first one Marita, California. They
said, pull down any Lego.We don't want our company, our people
are any of things with our toysassociated with criminals of any kind. I
could see that it is funny, though, I think that's hilarious. The
Lego said it ain't happen anymore. It's using their product and promotion, which
(21:55):
that's how it qualifies. So everybody'slike, come on, Lego, light
up, it's fun that's funny.Yeah, but it's funny to us adults.
But if a kid sees it,Number one, does it make being
a bad guy look cool? Andnumber two, the kid instead of saying
can I play with Legos? Mom? Will you give me bad guy toys
for my birthdays? Wade Dan vammagetting you in the fields. So a
(22:22):
Delta Airlines pilot. His name isKeith. He got to celebrate his retirement
just recently. But he didn't justlike throw you know, some shindig.
No, he decided. He decidedthat he was going to go ahead and
fly a whole plane to Hawaii withone hundred and twelve of his closest friends
(22:44):
and family. Wo. How coolis that? Yeah? So he got
everybody on board with it. Theyflew over to Hawaii. But then that
wasn't it. The celebration didn't endthere. He got to also surprise his
wife with a vow renewal his wifeColette Hawaii. Oh cool. So like
they already had their friends and familythere. That is cool. Think about
the fuel cost on that. That'sa party. Man, he's retiring,
(23:08):
he don't care. Yeah, Iguess you're done. So that's you're in
the fields on ninety eight one ninetyone with Wayne Dtay and Bama. So
apparently Chick fil A is changing thingsup with their chicken and a lot of
people are not happy about it.The company recently announced that they would no
longer use antibiotic free chicken. Instead, they're using chicken at raised na I
(23:34):
h M, which stands for noantibiotics important to human medicine. But that's
stupid. Why change anything? Theygot some of the best chicken in the
game. Why change anything. Well, it's got to be a cost thing,
right, But the open Sundays you'llmake more money. There's an I
have. I could drive buy aChick fil a from when they're open,
(23:55):
when they're closed, and I willnever be the first person in line.
Never, y'all, never had neverdone that. They're making this switch to
maintain supply of the high quality chickenyou expect from us. That was their
quote. It better not change. But I did. You know what's funny
is I saw this story on thenews and I clicked on it, and
all the comments on Facebook, Ohmy goodness, people are so upset about
(24:18):
it. But there is one personthat was like, I'm already starting to
see a difference, Like they're they'vealready rolled this out, so it tastes
tastes different. I bet you,I think it tastes different. And they
said that the chick like the chickenwas significantly smaller. Oh I did notice
that, So I wonder, Iwonder if they've already in the double order.
(24:45):
And let's go now right now, let's go. It's Wayne Dtay and
the Texas Radio Hall of Famer BamaBrown. Listen. We kicked off a
brand new game this morning here onninety eight one kvet called play that Back.
It was pretty fun. If youmissed it, uh, go back
and check out the podcast version. The show will be uploaded just a little
bit here through ninety eight one caveatdot com, the iHeartRadio app, or
through Apple Podcasts. Bam, whatyou doing the rest of the day,
(25:07):
bud. Uh, I'm going togo play a bunch of music backwards so
I can do better this game.I love I love the game. But
uh man Tay rocked it too. That was She's awesome at that. Yeah.
Tell you what's going on the restof your Tuesday, girl. Well,
we have an artist, a newerartist coming in for another one of
our shows later, so I'm justgetting ready for that. Yeah. Oh,
(25:30):
I guess I should get ready forthat. Then, yes, he
should. Thank you. Uh hey, listen, we love you and it
means it aires you to put ahand on. Yeah, it's fine.
I guess I'll put my shoes backon. Hey, whatever y'all got going
on. We love you, andwe appreciate the fact that you let us
be a part of your morning. We'll catch again tomorrow. Six to ten
ninety eight one caveat
