(00:00):
Good morning, Austin. Happy Thursday. You got Wayne Dtay and Bama on
ninety eight one kve getting your daystarted. And let me tell you,
usually like there's a little bit ofbanter here before we jump into our up
and up is what we're calling it. Unfortunately, we're gonna have to go
back to apples and onions this morningbecause the first story goes today and it
is not an up and up.They take it away. Well, I
(00:21):
do have an apple, my apple, maybe I should see that for after
my apple was that I got upa little bit earlier today and I worked
out. I had a really healthybreakfast, so I'm feeling great, awesome,
But walking good Lord humbled this womanafter all that was they've been talking
(00:43):
about this morning. I don't haveany idea what happened. I was very
humble this morning because walking in thebuilding, so on the sidewalk like next
door building, like in order towalk in, there's like a little like
kind of hump, right, andso I'm walking over the hump and my
shoe like gives out and flips sidewaysand kind of like kinks my ankle,
(01:07):
and so I completely fell to theground. Welcome to the I fall all
the time. Club Like. Iwatched it because I was next to her
in slow motion, and I immediatelyobviously I care. I didn't want her
to be hurt. But you reachedout like you were trying to help.
(01:29):
I don't know if you were.Actually it was one of those things.
It was, Yes, I waslaughing, but you're okay. You didn't
hurt your You're not. Physically.I scuffed up my knee pretty hard.
I just went to the mothroom andlooked at it. There's a big old
scuff there, but it hurts. My ankle hurts. Yeah. To act
(01:53):
like I didn't try and know youdid, and then to act like I
did, it's not helped me up. Yes, And I laughed you laugh
after you exactly. I was likeI was laughing to hold back tears though.
And the people that work in thebuilding next to us, there was
a group of them walking right behindus, and so they just stood there
like, well, are you gonnamove her? Yeah, like I was
(02:15):
in the way. Yeah, it'sfine. You remember what I told you.
The difference for being young and oldis when you fall and you're young,
people laugh. When you fall inyour old people go, oh no,
and they run to you, youknow, they help you. And
then remember I fell at the cafea couple of weeks ago, and there
was like three people ran to me. Are you okay, Grandpa? You
(02:38):
know they called the paramedic. Theyride over a fibrillator. Are you sure?
And they're doing that with your eyes, you know, with the hands,
you know, follow my and I'mlike, shut up, follow my
finger, which is terrible because they'renice. People are nice except for Wayne
apparently, and it's people next door. Can I tell you something? Fine,
(02:59):
it's fine. I've done worse.Man, What do you got some
positivity, some negativity with it?Whatever. I went to bed last night
at nine o'clock. I haven't donethat. I don't know how long.
I just I was in the middleof breaking bad and I looked over Jamie
and I I can't hang. Igotta go to bed. I don't know
why I'm so tired. But Idid not fall. I went from the
(03:20):
TV room to the bed without falling. So it's good for you. Yeah,
accomplished, which is easy, easierthan it sounds because your trailer is
not that big, no, andit leans. Now one of the wheels
fell off I'm gonna say, uh, I'll go Apple and onion. My
my onion is I bought this newTV and I've hardly had any time to
(03:45):
enjoy it. My Apple is Ilegit have. I have an event tonight
and then obviously work tomorrow. ButSaturday and Sunday nothing on my e I
will say, I have Saturday morning, I get my beard and everything done,
like every Saturday, and so I'lldo that Saturday morning. But other
(04:09):
than that, it's Easter weekend. You should have it all. You should
get the rest. Yeah, butit doesn't. Tay even said this earlier.
It doesn't feel like tomorrow's Good Fridayalready. Yeah, so that this
year has blown by. That's acompany holiday. Good Friday tomorrow. Oh
really, Well, we would neverknow because he never did anything. It's
(04:30):
ninety eight one Cavett. Parker McCollumis part of your Morning Now. Excited
to get you in to see OliverAnthony's part of the Cavett Country Music,
a live series. We will hookit up about seven ten or right.
It's Wayne D. Tay and Bama. Good Morning from ninety eight one Cavett.
Hey, Austin, here's what's trendingin the at X with Tay.
I cannot believe what I read earliertoday. I had to throw it in
(04:53):
What's trending? Did y'all hear aboutWillie Nelson's annual Fourth of July picnic?
No? Oh, he's moving itand he's taking it. I'm not going
to be here anymore, like, not even in Texas, not in Austin,
not in Texas. I know it'scrazy. Don't tell me Hollywood Bowl
in La. No, it's notworse. I feel like it's worse in
New Jersey, New Jersey. Yeah, I know a Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in
(05:17):
New Jersey. I mean, obviouslyit's on fourth of July. Still they
stupid. They still have like apretty big line up, Bob Dylan going
to be there, Mayor Morris andlike a bunch of others. But I
just feel like Willie Nelson's picnic betrayed. Supposed to be here. I feel
betrayed. Yeah too, Yeah,it's very weird. I don't know if
it man that sucks. I hopethey're just like testing it out and it
(05:40):
doesn't go well and they move backhere. Yeah, I hope it fails.
Willy there you go, I said, you know, the first one
was in Dripping Springs, and ifmy friend bought a ranch over there,
and part of that ranch was wherethey had the first one, and they
they didn't pay any of the vendors, like the electricians that ran the wire
and stuff. Some of those guysare still living around and they go whenever
(06:01):
they get paid for that first Mygoodness, it's messed up. Will you
said? Well? Next? Therewas a huge list that came out of
the wealthiest cities in the US,and Houston ranked in the top five,
but Austin ranked number ten with thirtytwo thousand, seven hundred millionaires with the
(06:23):
largest increase in the US this pastyear. Where y'all at and can a
brother get some chains? Right?Well? Can I throw a They raised
the taxes and raised the property value. So you're living in a million dollar
home that you've paid five hundred grandfor. You're like, I'm a millionaire.
I don't feel like one, thisRamin says I'm not. And last
(06:47):
Austin Pet's alive gonna look a littledifferent. After they're deteriorating building in central
Austin, they are looking to expandand rebuild. So that's exciting. They
just announced it this past Monday. But it's a four part, multi year
project. And I mean they've beenin their old building for like seventy five
(07:08):
years, long, long time.So they're moving. They're getting a little
upgrade. Yeah, that's what's trendingin the ATX Sun ninety eight one Cavet.
It's Wayne Dtay and Bama Naughty eightone Cavet diving into group therapy.
Now the subject is me. Yeah, usually it's you know, a call
or a random message. It hasto do with and Tato's It was actually
(07:28):
Tay's idea that I bring this upbecause our boys, her son and my
son are like best friends. There'sa neighbor kid and then my son's friend,
Jesse. They all get on thisFortnite video game and play together,
well as young boys do. Ittakes some jabs at each other every now
and again, yeah, especially overvideo games. But this neighbor kid is
big on getting the other kids togreat like team up on Griffin, my
(07:50):
son for some reason. I don'tknow why, and so I kind of
let it happen. But every nowand again I'll be like, all right,
enough, it's enough boys. Well, the other day he came out
of his room crying, right, and this is a game. He's having
fun. He's really into it,which I love for him. Right it's
passing, but he came out ofhis room just in tears and like the
(08:13):
kind he's like. And I waslike, like, my dad, heart
just was set on fire. SoI went out of the room and I
was like, and I was verystern. I'm like, knock it off.
I'm like, you guys are friends. I'm tired of hearing how nasty
are talking to each other. AndI just I laid into the phone call.
The unfortunate thing. Tay's son hadnothing to do with it. He
(08:35):
was just there. But so I'mlike speaking to the call, and so
immediately tays Son's like he's he camerunning to me and was like, mom,
Wayne's yelling at us. It's likewhat he's like. He told me
what was going on, and Ireassured him. I was like, he's
not yelling at you. He's yellingat this kid, because it seems to
(08:56):
be a problem with this kid,he repeated, and so and so it's
this Jesse kid, who is He'skind of like, what's the word I'm
looking for? Very He's influenced easily, very a follower for sure. And
so the neighbor kid was like tryingto get these these kids to go up
against my son and a bully.Yeah, And so I piped in.
(09:18):
And so the question is for grouptherapy, should I have let him?
As a parent, you step insometimes it's your job, that's what you're
there for. But at the sametime, did I I mean, should
I just let it play out andjust teach him how? Yeah? Like
teach him, Hey, this isthe way the world is. People suck
(09:39):
sometimes, even your friends sucks.Sometimes. Yeah, either don't play with
them, or play with him andtell him to knock it off or what
you know. Obviously I can coachhim in the situation, but out to
the point where like, nah, this ain't gonna fly them warm dude,
and I'm done. So did Ido the right thing? Or do I
gotta handle with kid gloves punintended?Do you want our answers? Now?
(10:01):
Yeah? You go first? Okay, I think that he is definitely scared
of you until I was like,I explained a little bit more. Maybe
he'll call in next week and beour My mom was very mean to me.
No, he he understood though, and he he even tells me like,
(10:22):
hey, this kid is like aproblem, Like he's told me before
that he doesn't want to play Fortnitebecause of that kid specifically. So I
told him, I was like, well, maybe you know you only play
when it's just you, Griffin andJesse and when that other kid is not
on. And so I think Ithink you did the right thing by stepping
(10:43):
in, because at a certain pointthere you do reach a certain point where
you need to step in. ButI think it's important that you let the
parents know what's going on so thatthey can also deal with the bully bullying.
Yeah, what about you, Bama, I think you did the right
thing. I think any opportunity youhave to parent a young person, you
(11:07):
should do it. You should ifyou see them headed down a path in
a bully, especially an adult that'snot talking, you know, like yell
I said, and go, look, this is something you need to stop
and you play it back towards them. People aren't gonna like you when you're
like this, when you're doing thisthat these people don't want to play with
you anymore. And this is howyou're going to be if you could stop
(11:30):
that now later on in life, that people won't hate them at the office
because they're going to continue. Thisis something you learn as a kid.
I can manipulate people by doing thisand getting other people team up on it.
Before you know it, you're alone. And I think that's you did
the right thing. Tap the microphonebutton on the iHeartRadio app. ID love
for you to be a part ofthe conversation as we continue to talk group
(11:52):
therapy. Next it's Wayne Detay andBama dive back into group therapy. Now
the talkbacks are coming through quick here. So I am the subjective group therapy.
Yeah. I my son was gettingpicked on playing video games with his
buddies online. They were all ona FaceTime call and so somebody said something
that hurt his feelings. I don'teven remember what it was, but I
(12:13):
came in and I I let himhave it. You came in guns a
blazon. I was frustrated because myson was terrified. I was frustrated,
all right, jeez. So anyway, did I handle it right or not?
If you want to shoot in amessage let us know. Yes,
it's on our iHeartRadio app. There'sa little red microphone button for you.
Maama, who's up first? Here? You said, Jamie on fire down
(12:35):
in Bernie. Instead of yelling atall the kids, try figuring out who
is the one being mean and talkto the parents. Let them handle it.
They should know what's going on.Yeah, that's like what I said,
like parents, the parents need tobe involved. Okay, but as
which as you are. But Iwouldn't say you step in. You stepped
(12:56):
in because you were there, youwere witnessing it. I understand, Like,
and I think you did the rightthing. I mean, maybe you
have a question. Is this theparent that y'all have had trouble with before?
Oh? Yes, the one thatfought into my neighborhood. It's the
same people. So that guy isnot gonna listen. They're not gonna listen
anything, right, And I tryand give him the benefit of the doubt
because he's homeschooled. He's allergic, like he has like allergy issues, so
(13:22):
he's allergic to a lot. Sohe's not out of the house a ton.
Yeah, But at the same time, like they need he needs to
learn a lesson that like, ifyou act a certain way, people are
not gonna want to hang out withyou. Yeah, after you talk to
the parents. If they decide notto do anything about it, then you
need to tell Griffin, hey, let's not hang with this kid anymore.
I know he's our neighbor, buttry to avoid him if you can,
(13:46):
because he's a jerm that might bea It's ninety eight one Cavett, Wayne
Dtay, and Bama. More grouptherapy coming up after eight Wayne, Dtay
and Bama Here on ninety eight oneCavet. Already after eight o'clock as we
continue group therapy, I almost outof out of have it. I almost
just pointed to take because that's whenshe jumps in and tells the story.
Yeah, but it's your story today. My son plays video games with his
buddies, Taye's son being one ofthem, and somebody said something made my
(14:11):
son really upset, and I'd heardthem kind of picking on each other anyway,
so I came in and I'd letthe whole phone call have it.
But I didn't like I was speakingto the group, but like not.
I felt the only kid I feltbad for is Days because he was like
just an innocent buysty I know, and you could tell he was so scared
(14:31):
and he when he told me whatwas going on. He's like, Mom,
I swear I didn't say anything,like, I didn't do anything.
I love Griffin. I would neverhurt him. And I was like,
I know, bab, he's nottalking about you. But I was just
so frustrated because I had been hearingit and hearing it. And the other
thing is, listen, I thinkmy kids can fight their own battles,
but if they're hurt enough and theycome to me crying, that's it's you
(14:54):
started a fire that ain't gonna putitself out. I've even heard the like
I've heard their conversations before and I'vehad to like tell Weston, like,
hey, like knock it up myneighbor kids. That's what it comes down
to. But did I handle itright? Is the question? Tap the
microphone button on the iHeartRadio app, now, Bama, go ahead. You
know if he pulls back from onecomment to somebody that you've done some good,
(15:16):
you know, yeah, I lookat it, uh tj In Austin,
I'd say, keep doing what you'redoing. Sometimes the fear of dad
is okay, yeah, yeah,absolutely, And I was. I wasn't
even trying to like scare anybody.I mean, I was trying to be
like authoritative if that's the right word. Like, hey, I hear what
(15:37):
you're saying. Shut your mouth. As long as you're not like cursing at
him or like, you know, something crazy, then I think you're fine.
You're fining to get stern and raiseyour voice a little. It's just
a family. The cops have cometo their house, so you're good luck
with that, you know, becausethe mom tried get them. The mom
tried to box somebody down the streetone day. That's what I'm saying.
(15:58):
I pray to God they don't listento Cavett. Oh, I got it.
I got to wear your wrestling beltand talk to him like wrestler.
All right, brother, I'll standin his front yard and call him out
to a fight. Lord ninety eightone Cavett and Laney Wilson, Wayne Da
tell you, Bama, thanks forstarting your day with us. Here at
ninety eight one Cavets and now Bama'sbonehead. This is in the Northeast.
(16:25):
I'm not sure the city. Uh. Bob and his woman, they were
husband and wife. They were shackups. Uh. They got into some
well, they'd been having some troublefor a while and finally she'd had enough
and she told him to get out, and he went in the other room.
She stayed in the bedroom. Heso when she woke up, Bob,
(16:45):
who was a license licensed plumber, had taken her commode, unbolted it
from the floor, and left withthe whole commode for their one bathroom in
their two bedroom apart. Do youdo? What do you do? Well?
(17:06):
She had been going to Taco Bella couple places down and using their
bathroom, and she finally had hadenough and I mean, out of this
guy on a video and uh,it's a plumber came and put a new
commode in. So now she didn'thave to go to Taco Bell anymore.
And uh, I'll be on thedoacle bell all the time. You need
(17:29):
a toilet, gonna need to comeout to be fair, when you mentioned
Taco Bell and a story about atoilet, this is not the way I
saw it playing out. But Imean, that's just mean le even taking
the commode, that's just wrong. You make a statement. He put it
in at some point while they wereyou know, dating or whatever, and
they moved in together. I suspectthat he felt like that was his commode.
(17:53):
The only thing I could get fromthat Boneheads you get him weekday mornings
on ninety eight one came out WayneDetayn back on ninety eighty one. K
Back Group Therapy is on and I'mthe subject of it this time around.
My son is playing video games withhis buddies. Kid named Jesse Tay's son
Weston, and then our neighbor kid. Our neighbor kid is a bad influence.
(18:15):
He loves to stir up drama andhe loves to make other kids feel
left out, which I think isbecause he feels left out a lot,
being like homeschooled and all that.Probably, and he's also like really young.
He's got siblings, but they're wayolder, right, yep, yep,
So you still got time to reachout with that talkback feature if you
want to on our iHeartRadio app theMicrophone Button free download, go grab that
(18:37):
thing. Bama, who we gotWell, I just want to remind everybody
too call if it's later in theday and you just think, you know,
go ahead and do it and weget to it the next day.
We've done that several times where wedidn't get your call before you know,
maybe you're in the car, andso we want to make sure we get
everybody on and we've done that manytimes. So this is Angela from Austin.
Maybe try backing off a little andsee how your son does. I
(19:00):
follow you on social media and Ican tell you're a great dad. Wayne's
sweet. Well, I appreciate that. Thank you it uh, I mean
we'll see. Maybe I just continueto coach him along like no, we
need. I think that's because youyou, you're not always going to be
(19:22):
there in life to stick up forhim and he needs, I know,
but like in social situations when he'sout and he's being bullied, like he
needs to learn how to stick upfor himself too. I mean I've I've
gone through this with my son too, like you have. You have to.
I just hope he's tough enough topunch somebody if he needs. Is
that not what you mean? No, that's not because I got picked on
(19:48):
it. I was afraid to punchpeople when I was younger. I mean
I got older and that changed. But should be afraid to punch people because
you're gonna get in trouble. Youdon't think if somebody's talking smack, they
deserve to get popped. You walkaway? Yeah, walk away. God,
that's a mom talking dad would be. I would like to point out
(20:11):
both of y'all are excellent parents.I've always been impressed parents. Can I
tell you whether it's her way ormy way? The problem is resolved.
Fact, there you go, andGod bless Texas. It's Wade dan Vama
getting you in the fields. Soa woman named Debbie has take on a
(20:34):
personal mission to clean up her cityby picking up litter, and recently she
crossed a milestone of collecting over fivehundred thousand pieces of trash and now she's
got the goal to reach a millionby the end of the summer, which
is awesome. City. Do youhave the city? It's Ohio. It's
(20:56):
somewhere in Ohio. But her motivationbegan with her dog because her dog,
named Henry, which is so cute, cut his little nose on a piece
of broken glass while they were outwalking around and it frustrated her because you
know, he was bleaming. Youknow, it was sad. So she
wanted to make sure that you know, no more pets, no children,
(21:18):
no adults were you know, affectedby the trash in the community. So
she went ahead and she just startedpicking up trash for me and is crazy
millions even crazier. So yeah, what's even cooler though, is I heard
that the mayor is declaring April thirdas Debbie Miller Day. Let's go.
I've always wanted I've always wanted that, but I've never had a real day.
(21:41):
Yeah, because it's it doesn't likeexist a year later. They just
called that one day your day,and I've always like, I've always wanted
that. I don't know why,Wayne Day, what can you do?
Pick up trash? I don't thinkyou want to have I don't think you
want to say D Day for battYeah that's true, Wayne D Radio guy
(22:02):
day. That just flows. Oryou could just use my whole name,
Wayne Donaldson and go with it.Oh one time, it's one time that
I said the wrong thing. Ohgod, that's not his last name.
By the way, that's the onlymistake I've made in two years. Yeah,
that's the only one. Well that'syour the fields on ninety eight one,
(22:25):
it's Wayne Dta and bamat. NowI'm gonna wave a red flag real
quick because anytime take grabs these stories, it's about body odor, or it's
about you know, not making enoughmoney, or it's about it's it's always
a fact. And now it's likepeople changing careers at this age, people
(22:47):
doing this at this age. Yeah, they're like fun little facts. I
mean, I love it, butis as you you looked up why am
I so stressed? And it saidhere's the list of the most stressful you're
Google? You have our picture?Yeah, your Google search history, I
feel would be alarming with the thingsyou share with them. Maybe that's why
this article came up for me.I don't know, but no, it's
(23:08):
the most stress states in the US. Our friends over at wallet hu Hub
put this together and they rated allfifty states. There were a bunch of
indicators like you know, work, money, family, health and safety stuff
like that. Yeah. Well thisyear, Louisiana is the most stressed state
apparently. Wow, I've never been. We're on the radio there, but
(23:30):
I've never been there. I wonderwhy do you think that is? It's
weird because they have to have conversationswith Casey Carter. I'm just kidding.
We love Casey. Casey's one ofCasey as an iHeart Country employee. And
in what is it in New Orleans? Yeah, I'm kidding it. It's
in New Orleans right, yeah, yeah, but the least stressed is Minnesota.
(24:00):
Minnesota, Yeah, which is Wayne'shometown or state. They have towns
in the state though, Well, that's nine months out of the year it's
frozen solid. Yeah, you know, you only have three months to really
get out and see anybody. Yeah, you can't be you can't be stressed
if you're snowed in and don't haveto talk to people. That sounds nice,
But we Texas landed at number ten. Oh oh, so we're traffic.
(24:23):
Traffic here would be I think thebig one in all the city Dallas
or Houston, here or wherever. The traffic is terrible traffic and so many
people here now reading Elon Musk's tweets, we'll do that to you. Yeah,
absolutely, he should call the show. Elon Call. We know you're
listening. Yeah, call some makea healthy donation to the program. Here
(24:45):
it's ninety eight one K back. You got Wayne Detail and Bama. If
you get a chance, please goback and listen to the podcast. Today
was a fun show, or youcan listen to yesterday's show too, or
this past Friday, Kenny Chesney wasour special guest. You can listen to
that show and more Wayne Detay andBama The rewind. It is up at
ninety eight one kbat dot com, available on Apple and iHeartRadio podcasts as well.
Hey we're done, We're out ofhere, Tay. What's going on
(25:07):
today for you? Nothing? Justgonna go hang out. I do have
to run and get eastern like thelittle plastic easter eggs, true and eggs
to decorate and stuff. So Idon't do the decorating thing anymore. You
don't. You don't do baskets.Do you do baskets for your baskets?
Yeah? But the kids just likethe coloring thing. Yeah, Bama,
did you do baskets up until Uh? It was fun because Alex would still
(25:33):
do it even as a teenager, just to make mom and dad happy,
you know, because that's one ofthe things we'd love. And she would
be when she was little. Shewould reach over to get an egg and
one would fall out of the basketevery time she turned. Here's another one,
and it just made me go,oh, that girl's gonna have a
hard life as she gets older. But that's all she did. Okay,
(25:56):
she did. Okay, she's alawyer now. Yeah, yeah, are
you gonna get peeps? Or we'regonna do the peeps thing like we did
last year. Yeah, so it'scalled peep eoke eoki. What if we
just call it peep karaoke? Okay, peep, then it doesn't sound like
a potty thing. Yeah, okay, peep karaoke, Yeah, karaoke peep.
(26:22):
Let's peep karaoke. We're just gonnacall it that. Because this is
getting out of hand. We gota fun game that's coming up on Friday
show as we get ready for Easter. Tay hates peeps and this is a
fun bit we'll do tomorrow. Idig peeps, man, what about you?
I'm okay with him. I don'trather have a kit cat. Let's
play kit cat karaoke? Then I'min god uh tomorrow, it's gonna be
(26:44):
fun. We'll do that just afterseven thirty on ninety eight one Kvet
