(00:26):
Boy Wild Wayne, coming at you. Boy, if you could smell
with this studio smells like right now, there's nothing like some amazing fried chicken
and Cleveland's fears CEO the inventor ofthe Fried Chicken Fest as Uh come bearing
gifts redbirds chicken and this is apreceding this year's twenty twenty three Fried Chicken
(00:52):
Fests. What's up Cleveland? What'sup? Wayne? Like I can't come
see you in the crew up here? When I bring y'all some lunch,
I had to come bearing gifts. Now, I didn't even know they had
anybody in the day. I thoughtI was in the building by myself.
Until we walked down the hallway withthe chicken. People start busting out the
all kind of cracks and criminal sidecoming from everybody. You could smell the
chicken and turn the building. Man. We had lunch for the whole team
up here. I'm excited. Brouh. This year's uh National Fried Chicken Fest
(01:15):
brought to you but our good friendsover at Raising Kane. You're doing year
number two old on the lake front. That's at Lake Shore and Franklin,
right behind the UNO lake Front Arena. Correct, yep. Were you excited
about the move last year? We'vebeen trying to make that move for a
while. Okay, he got thelad due to COVID, but as a
as a kid that grew up inNew Orleans going to the lake front,
(01:38):
I live not too far from thelake front. Now, I've been excited
about what that space could be,and we're excited to kind of poller the
last year. Everyone had an amazingtime. So we're going back to the
lake front of getting this year. Now, how did you come up with
this idea? Not for the place, but for the event. We have
a lot of festivals. I didn'tthink we'd ever see one of these,
and so when we came out witheveryone said, how did no one ever
(01:59):
think of that? H And soyou know, we have barbecue festivals and
festals are this and seafood festivals, but everyone loves fried chicken and so one
thing always says that while our kindand produces it and executed it. Uh.
The idea for it came from mygood friend Jay Brown Russell. She
said at the joke that someone shouldjust create a projecting festival, and I
was like, Jay, that's agreat idea. I think we'll do that,
(02:20):
right. And now Jay's our partnerin the festival as well. She's
with Maroon now, yeah, Jaysthe founder of Maroon Workspace. Yeah,
yeah, no doubt. So goodthings are having it with Fried Chicken fests.
I'm gonna I'm gonna go back intime. I remember the first one
that you guys did. I wascoming in from LA because I wanted the
host, but I knew I hadsome business in California. My flight got
in early, and uh, whenyou know, when you're playing Touches down
(02:44):
and your phone starts populating again, like where you at? That was our
very first one. We were planningfor ten thousand people on a Sunday afternoon
and the whole city showed up andshut down downtown right. And it was
from that moment on we knew wehad something in our hands and I and
since then we've grown in and expandedover and over and over again. So
what should we look out for forthis year's Fried Chicken Fest, Because you
(03:06):
guys would come a long way.Look, so what we want to do
is we want to put on forthe city. And so anyone who was
there last year at the lake front, they canna expect the footprints to be
even bigger. So we're expanding evena further up the lake, probably about
an additional football field worth of additionalspace. We're gonna add more restaurants.
We heard over and over about thelines last year, and so last week
(03:27):
had thirty five restaurants. This yearwe can have fifty restaurants. Wow,
so and so no one should soI should alleviate the line problems. We
got great music. We got threestages of entertainment. We got two music
stages. We have a new culinarystage. We'll be doing cooking demonstrations and
things like that. I'm gonna beon the next year. We'll be on
the next year. I think, are you on it? I think I'm
gonna I'm gonna be assisting this year, but I would be solo next year.
(03:49):
Well, we're gonna have one.We have Wayne. Have you hosted
one of the music stages and doingan appearance on our culinary station. You
know Wayne is cooking and farming andagain all of that now get it in.
The car show is back this year. Car Show is even bigger and
uh, and everyone's very excited aboutthe music we got lined up. We
got big free to clothes on ourSaturday Night and then Sunday Night. Everyone's
very excited. What's going on SundayNight. Sunday Night is fifty years of
(04:13):
hip Hop New Orleans, presented bythe Law Office with Chip Parstall. And
so that is all the music you'vebeen playing as long as I've been alive.
Yeah, going back to t TTucker DJD, you believe, Partners
in Crime, Chopper Many Fresh HotSizzle, Yeah, Lady Red and so
we're really excited to kind of justprey homage to New Orleans. Yeah,
because the whole country is now kindof taking our bounce player from here.
(04:35):
Yeah, and have incorporated into theirmusic and uh and obviously we know Beyondest
continues to sample Bouncing music and allof her music. So we can have
about a two hour set of NewOrleans greats with thirty years of music.
So if you come in on Sunday. Make sure I have some energy and
your dancing shoes because it's gonna benine stop once they hit the stage.
(04:59):
That's an amazing lineup you have notonly for Sunday, but for Saturday as
well. You've got uh folks likeShamar Allen, you Sam, a ton
of brassoholics, Uh Flow Tribe, just a ton of music across two stages
across and we got we got DJson on on stages. We got house
(05:19):
DJs keep the music going on between. We got the there's actually another kind
of block party stage as well.Well, we'll have DJs on. There
were folks kind of dancing in thestreet on Lake Shore Drive. So we're
just it's a good time. It'sa ton of food, it's a ton
of music. Most important, it'sjust good vibes and get energy out there
and good chicken and good chicken,a lot of it. Uh. You
(05:40):
have some competitions this year, Yeah, so we'll always we have the restaurants
are competing. So we got aboutthirty five restaurants from Louisiana, about fifteen
from across the country, and they'recompeting for best fried Chicken, best traditional
fried Chicken, and then We haveanother competition called a best use of fried
Chicken in adults, and that's whatfolks to get kind of exotic and creative
what they're issues. So we gotour folks over at Whisky and Sticks who
(06:01):
are doing uh cocktail flavored fried chickensea and get an old fashion held company
calder Will. We'll be out theredoing that and a lot of other kind
of unique exotic uses of fried chicken. Our will also be another war competition.
If folks want to get tickets orvipea status, because you do have
vi Pea status, how can folksget ahold of tickets in advance if not
(06:25):
at the gate yep, So weabsolutely recommend polks to get them in advanced
those at Fried Chicken Fests dot comyou can get our tickets to get into
the festival, come see and enjoy, and if you want an upgrade your
experience and do one of our lounges. Uh. We have our Champagne Launch
presented by Shamdaun kind of chicken andchampagne right feeling like that, And then
we also have our Royalty Lounge presentedby Crown Royal, both of which the
(06:46):

out and have a good time andget all your tickets and all the information
at Fried Chicken Festival dot com.Yeah, it is Cleveland Spears, the
mastermind behind the National Fried Chicken Festivalgoing on this coming Saturday and Sunday.
It's at Lake Shore where it meetsFranklin at the Lakefront. Couldn't be a
(07:10):
better setting for the entire event.I'll be one of your hosts, you
