(00:01):
Check it out. Is your boywild Wayne, And you know how we
roll it every day around this time, you just kind of never know who
may stop by the yo. Butuh, it's that time of year once
again where you got many ground ballsgoing on and everybody's feeling the energy in
the city. But there's a newball in case you missed it the last

(00:25):
two years. It's grown to mammothsize and year number three put on by
mister James Mline Maze and I havehim in the studio. So I brother,
I'm good. I'm good. Havewe been trying to get this on
and popping for a little minute, glads, I finally get you up here.
How you feeling shit, I'm great, I'm awesome. I'm excited.
Hey, and I know you gotplenty of work to put this ball on,

(00:47):
but I wasn't able to go lastyear, had previous commitments and year
number one. But I felt Ifelt played bro I felt like I played
myself because the pictures was so dopeand it looked like black love and black
excellence in the room all the wayall the way through the room. Is
I mean, I think everybody's excited. It's the energy is high. The
production quality is exceptional. So it'slike one of those things where you see,

(01:12):
if you don't go once you seethe pictures in the videos, you
wish you same like me, andit's that the field more correct yep film
of February second. Okay, Sothe thing about it is, there are
all these balls that have traditionally goneon in New Orleans for many years.
Some have been tried and true.Uh, some have the old guard and

(01:36):
the gatekeepers and what have you,and they are good and they are great,
and uh, you know, youalways salute the people that laid the
foundation, but I was excited aboutthis one because it's like the new generation
and uh, look like you guyscut no corners in making it top notch.
So tell me about the production ofit all in the past few years

(01:57):
and then we're gonna release the beastand let them know about who you will
be saluting for this year's m lineball. So first off, I like
mind's dying is during the production,I say, well, famous, we
have a super like important production processon phone calls, zooms, emails,

(02:19):
and we pretty much aligned. Welined everything up that's possible this year that
we thing might be possible. Sowe lined everything up that's like super possible,
and then we get to the creativestandpoint of it and just come what
we think what that people were like. So to start the Ball, we
wanted to do something that was newand innovative, which is not just the

(02:43):
Ball is Award show, all right. So year one we honored Juvenile Mix
and the late Grade Soldier Slow.Year two we honored Feedbanks Partners in Crime
and also late great Magnoia Shorty. And I think that we gave the people
something that they've never seen, whichis the creative part grave, you know

(03:06):
what I'm saying. We built theproject building inside of the Ball which was
never seen before. We give thehonories a wild moment. We try to
dig deep into their past, makehim feel you know I felt, And
we've accomplished that so much. Youknow why I like it even more because

(03:27):
they have all these other Marty gardCruz and what have you, and none
have done that right. And likethe artists that you just mentioned that were
alive or had passed on, werevery integral to the music culture of Warler,
So I'm glad that you've given themtheir roses. But this year,
drum drums, please like you havetaken it up to a whole another level

(03:53):
for year number three for the mLine Ball twenty twenty four, Who is
your honories for this year? Thisyear where we'll be honoring berry Man.
This is something that we actually manifested. We feel like he hasn't been honored
in New Orleans or haven't been honoredin a proper way period, you know

(04:15):
what I'm saying. So just notbeing outed in New Orleans is a super
big thing for us, or wesuper excited. We call it the m
Line Bass Stunners Island, and thisyear he's gonna be He's so big to
us that we have to make himthe only person that we're honor rest.
And you know what, it's sodope to me because I've known Brian Williams
for a long time since you know, Cast Money was just coming off the

(04:40):
porch where they really was just agroup of dudes rapping and had a dream
to actually becoming not only a label, but a global force to be recorded.
And I've seen that entire path, you know what I'm saying. So
it's really good to see that youguys are acknowledging them and a whole new
general racing, you know, givingthem the flowers in du So that's dope.

(05:03):
Like early in the early nineties,we always kids, you know what
I'm saying. So they always havebeen big superstars to us. But it's
like you don't get the chance tosee him in such a light or even
really get to see him at all. So I think the city is going
to be super excited about that. And you know what I'm saying. One
thing that I hope I just hopethat he does just walk on stage and

(05:26):
just stand there, don't say nothing. Okay, okay, at least thirty
seconds, so he could get thelove of it and feel how much energy.
Yeah, we want to you know, we appreciate him, you know
what I'm saying, because he boughtus all of the some of the biggest
artists in the world. You knowwhat I'm saying. We want to give
him. You want to give himthat, no doubt, no doubt.
So for folks that want to comeout, is it open to anyone?

(05:48):
Yes, open to anyone. Youcan buy the tickets off of Ticketmaster or
the film More website correct or wehave we also have tables for sale.
You can get the tables by textand five zero four, six, two
one eight nine one nine okay, and yeah that's how that's how you get
in. So it's either dress dressing, dress code, get ball gowns,

(06:12):
tucks suits. We are not.The dress code is strictly in forced.
But it's also a creative involved beingat it's under a fashion brand. We
want you to be creative with it, you know what I'm saying. So
flamboyance is accepted and appreciate it.I want you to just be super super
creative. We're not. You don'twant to buch you into where you have
to wear black tucks or you haveto wear a certain color, so you

(06:35):
can do whatever, but it hasto be all appropriate, right, Okay,
Well, I just wanted to makesure that that's a crystal clear to
the public where they can get theirtickets, what they need to wear.
And why are we doing this becauseit's not just about Mighty Grid, it's
about the culture. Is it's theit's the culture of New Orleans, and
we want to be the innovatives topush it in the new direction. You

(06:57):
know what I'm saying. Just saystay new in friend. And also,
I think this ball has been asuccess because it's super intimate as well.
You know what I'm saying. Youget to get something to eat, you
get to get something to drink, mingle with who you want to mingle with,
and still hear the music at thesame time. So every you don't
have to just bring yourself. Everythingis the food is included in your ticket.

(07:21):
His drinks. I might have twobotties with me passing it out at
all times. A right, Idon't know, So come take a shot
with me. You know it belit, It be lit. It's a
it's a super exciting man. Sowe know everything about the event that we
know about the honer Rea. ButI wanted to give you a prop brou
because I see how you have uniteda whole lot of people with what you've

(07:43):
done. There was a ton ofposts with what you did with six Ward
Steppers and Larry Morrow. Just thispast weekend I saw read just progrades with
sporting your issue for is his nationalcontention boxing match, and a number of
other people that I see feared up, lace up and looked like they are
proud to wear your gear. Andwe don't have a whole lot of fashion

(08:05):
icons in the city. So I'mgiving your flowers now if you thank you,
I definitely appreciate that we're trying totake this thing all the way all
the way there. I feel likewe're super close, and it's is gonna
take a few more pieces to thepuzzle, but I feel like we were
right there. Hey, folks wantto see like your latest year or follow
