(00:00):
It's another episode of the will JustDegree to Disagree podcast and Beyonce five,
I'm righty. What's it Ryan? What's going on with your man's? How
are you good? Good? Youhave a good week? How are you
Ryan? Please tell me you're havinga great week. It's what Tuesday that
we guys were recording this on Tuesday. I'll know when you're listening. Only
(00:23):
cut out a few people, onlya few, only a few. Okay,
it's a good week for you week. Anyway, Let's talk about this
documentary, this Windy Williams documentary.Where is Wendy Williams? And we all
know that documentaries take a while toproduce and make and all of that.
So this one, I believe wasrecorded what in twenty twenty three, twenty
(00:46):
three? Okay, over the courseso it's been a while, and over
the course of that time we haveseen the downward spiral of the great Wendy
Williams. Now, I will saythis. I am a fan of Wendy
Williams, and people have asked, well, what is it that you like
about her so much? Beyonce. She's always talking about people, she's always
negative, she's always in people's business. So first of all, Wendy Williams.
(01:08):
I admire her work ethic. Shehas been like up down, up
down over the years. She's well, she was a radio host Hall of
Fame. Mind you, I ama radio host, so we do have
that in common. And I knowwhat this business can be like. I
know what this industry can be like. But I have to tell you that
(01:30):
that woman took that radio show andshe became iconic. I know her niche
is talking about people and the gossipand whatever. But Wendy Williams put the
stamp on that, and I haveto give her credit for that. No
one else was really doing that priorto her. That's what she's known for.
Not to interrupt you, but asradio personalities, can we say we
(01:53):
would not be doing entertainment reports.Hello, if it was not for Wendy
Williams. I don't know. Peoplewho aren't in radio don't understand. This
is not something that pds and jocksjust thought about doing. Wendy Williams was
the first one to do it.In matter of fact, if you watch
the Wendy Williams movie that came outon Lifetime a few years back, that
Wendy was also a part of andnarrated. You will see how her radio
(02:14):
career began, and you will seewhen she started to read the magazines and
come in to the radio show andstart breaking the stories on the mic.
Wendy Williams started any type of entertainmentreport that you hear on any radio show,
she did it. So with thatbeing said, I have to give
a respect for that because she startedsomething that has been picked up by hundreds
(02:36):
of thousands of people, you know, and we still to this day to
our entertainment reports. Now, Idon't do all the whole gossip peace and
this and that and talking about peoplehere and there. That's not my style.
But for those who do, youknow, much love to you do
your thing. But Wendy Williams,in my opinion, is radio legend period.
(02:59):
You cannot that away from her.And the other thing that I like
about Wendy when people say, well, Beyonce, what you're so different from
her? Like? Why? Becauseshe's been transparent about her life, about
her struggles with addiction, about youknow, her marriage that failed, about
(03:19):
so much that I admire her transparency. A lot of people can't do that
and for her to be, youknow, such an iconic and popular celebrity.
For her to be able to dothat, I was like, wow,
in this industry to be that transparent. But anyway, it's so sad
to see her demise, you knowwhat I mean, her downward spiral.
(03:43):
I watched pretty much most of thefour part documentary that aired recently on Lifetime,
and I have to watch it inpieces because it's a little heavy for
me. It's a little heavy becauseto see this woman who was on tip
and the world loved her, andshe had this great talk show that most
(04:03):
people watched and she was very successfulstill is to a certain extent. People
still love her. But to watchthat documentary to see this mental illness this
recent well it was reported recently.I don't know when the diagnosis, the
diet the diagnosis. Yeah, Idon't thank you. I don't know when
(04:25):
that actually came, but it wasrecently reported, mind you, right before
the documentary aired. Like look atthe timing there, that she has this
progressive state of dementia. So sad. What were your thoughts on the doc
It was sad to watch. Igot on Wendy. I knew Wendy as
(04:46):
a radio personality, wanting to bein this radio industry. I was studying
the Wendy's, the Ryan Seacrest, the Terrence people that started in radio.
Wendy. Of course you have tostudy her if you want to be in
radio. In my opinion, Ithen fully got a hold of Wendy Williams
when the television show came out,and I always like, I love TV,
That's always my first love. SoI used to study her TV show.
(05:09):
I used to watch her after showson YouTube that she did after every
single show and lover hate her.Wendy had a quality that nobody else has
been able to touch and probably willnot be able to touch. And I
was a fan of that because beingin this industry, a lot of times
we fight on how much we wantto tell with the people and share with
(05:30):
the people. Like you just said, Wendy didn't fight nothing. She eventually
came on the show and talked abouteverything. I say all this to say,
watching this documentary was very tough, was very hard to see. There's
been a part of me, asan industry person and a fan that would
hope one day Wendy was going toget back and be back in her purple
(05:53):
chair. Yes, And I thinkfor me watching the documentary, I kind
of was like, there may beno more Wendy Williams in that. I
think now it's just as a personyou want to see health wise her get
as better as she can. ButI don't know if we'll ever have that
Wendy Williams as a TV personality anymore. And that is what was tough watching
(06:14):
it. Despite who does who's toblame, I think there are a lot
of hands involved, I do,despite going into detail of who's to blame
and how that all worked out,I just think it was overall sad to
see, like you said, somebodycould be up here and quickly come down.
I think it also showed what addictioncan do. Yeah, I think
(06:35):
I watched somebody. We literally watchedan addiction on the on the show,
and we watched somebody who chose.Even when her family got brought up,
the first thing Wendy would say,I love Kevin Junior, but you know
he doesn't like liquor. I lovemy sister Wanda, but she hates that
I drink lickor. I think partof the reason why Wendy didn't want to
(06:57):
stay in Miami was because she knowsthe family would not let her get to
the liquor. So it was sad. A main component, though I would
love for people to really understand,is Wendy lost her husband, her mother,
and her TV show within let's justsay days. You get what I'm
saying. Not, of course it'snot days, but that time of losing
(07:18):
all that three major things. Yourhusband had a baby on you do I
think Wendy knew she was out herecheating, yes, but having a baby.
No, your mother died. Ifyou watch the Wendy Williams Show,
you know how close she was toher parents and especially her mom. And
remember, we didn't even know that. We did not know, and then
we kind of like found out ona random show it happened. It was
(07:40):
like, oh, and by theway, it was very strange. Yes,
and then you lose the TV showwhere if you really watched the documentary
series, Wendy has dementia. Butthe only thing she kept talking about was
work. Yes, drive me bythe Wendy Williams Show. Then she would
say, drive me by the SherryShepherd Show. It just tore. Only
(08:00):
she thought about when she went andsaw her dad in Miami. You may
not saw this. When she wentand saw her dad in Miami. Then
you know, my show comes backon Wednesday. Oh my god, and
her dad, who's ninety three, still looking good. It was like today's
Wednesday, Wendy. And she said, well, it's coming back, and
when it comes back, this thefirst segment we're gonna do, and we're
gonna take our wigs off. Butto just see that's where her mind is.
So I was just said, Iwas honestly, I say all this
(08:22):
to say as a fan of her, and you gotta give her her flowers
when it comes to this industry.Must It was sad to see because I've
always had a little bit, ohlike Mondy gonna come back. I know,
even if it was a podcast. When she first lost the show,
if you will remember, they weresaying, Okay, she's coming back.
It's just gonna have this podcast, and I was like, yes, she's
(08:43):
still gonna have a present on someairwaves somewhere. But it just slowly transpired
into well maybe not. You know, things are kind of getting worse with
her health, and I mean justlooking at her, the weight loss and
the bulging eyes from the disease thatshe has, the thyroid disease, and
I'm just like, oh my gosh, it's just really bad. And you
(09:07):
know, I can see. I'vebeen around people who have dementia. I've
been around seniors who have it,and I can see what is happening because
I saw that in people that Icould actually reach out and touch and feel.
And it's just like, oh mygosh, theoretic behavior and then you
know, the sweet nice behavior andthen she's in and out of reality.
(09:30):
It's like okay. In this sceneof the documentary there she's like, okay,
I'm good. I'll wake up andI'll get dressed. I know it
to where And then you could seeher saying, no, I don't want
that, go back in the store, return it. That's not what I
usually use. And I'm just like, it's a lot. It's a lot.
(09:52):
It's a lot. It's really alot, and it's just so sad
we're actually seeing it happen. Andyou know what, I didn't even know
older. Sometimes. I remember whenDJ Boof was saying, oh, you
guys are gonna see eventually. Rememberwhen he left the show. He was
like, oh, yeah, you'llsee what's gonna happen. You'll eventually see
and I was like, what doeshe mean remember me and you talked about
(10:13):
that. I remember when that cameout, and I remember me and you
talking about it and we said forhim to leave. YEP, there's something
serious going on because they have beenfriends for you, and he literally said
in the document series, I couldnotstand for working for a show where I
knew what was going on behind youknew. And then they were showing clips
of her show where she would beon a live zoom. It must have
(10:37):
been one of those shows where Idon't know it was during COVID. She
would have like, you know, the live audience, but they run zoom
and then a guest and then shewould just start talking about cats moment on
the show where she couldn't remember namesthat they showed too, And I remember
watching those exact episodes where when theywere live in studio and Wendy would say,
(10:58):
what's named Fox, Fox, Fox, And then the producers knew they
had to be on cue like theyalready were that way, but they knew
and they would be like Beyonce yeah, and she would be all out.
I remember actually seeing the shows ofthe clips they showed. I remember some,
but gosh, when I saw thatone about her talking about the cats.
I was like, Okay, Idid not see that one. Yeah,
And then they were saying things likewhen she dressed up for Halloween,
(11:22):
how she was the Statue of Liberty. They were saying that that was just
not because she was overheated, itwas something else. And I'm just like,
oh my Lord, please help WendyWilliams, Please please help her and
any other person in this type ofpredicament, because it's just sad to watch.
It's said we literally watched, YeahI did. It was tough,
(11:43):
but the fan of me, Isaid, I had to sit there because
I was like, what happened toWendy? Literally, with the title of
the movie the documentary being Where's Wendy? What Happened? We all were like,
Where's Where's she? What happened?And I thought, and I was
hoping that she was once again inrehab, but this time it was gonna
be that rehab that just got herright together, because when she went to
(12:03):
Miami, she did look good.Still, she still had the weight on
her, she still looked fabulous, and she was like still windy, and
she was even saying, you know, now that I'm down here, I'm
feeling good and everything's fine, butthen it changed. Yeah, it's just
really sad. But you know,God knows what's best and he can make
(12:24):
a miracle happen. Yeah, Iwould saying never say never, but from
watching that documentary, which was filmedat least a year and a half to
a year ago, seeing what's happeningthen. But now she's in a facility
and this hurts my heart because thiswas just three days ago that it was
reported that she's in a facility andthe family doesn't even know her whereabouts.
(12:45):
How does that happen? Yeah,it's sad. It's I kind of don't
even have worse just it's sad.Sad, Yeah, really sad. But
the good thing is she was takenthrough the neighborhood and to see that fans
are still adoring you and loving onyou and saying we love you and we're
happy, and da da da dada. Maybe that gave her a glimmer
(13:09):
or a glimpse of home, thehouse on the street. It's tough,
yeah, it is, but itis either way. We will continue to
give Wendy Williams the flowers that shedoes. Whether you love her hater,
you cannot take away where she hasstarted. You cannot in this industry.
You cannot just like with and I'mnot going to get into it. And
I know you know who I'm talkingabout when I refer to this person.
(13:31):
You know, when you have talent, I'm able to separate the talent from
what you're infamously known for. Ican do that. The achievements, the
accomplishments, the talent can never betaken away. It just can't. Period.
Do I agree with everything that youknow you may be accused of and
(13:52):
whatever, Absolutely not, But thetalent is there. And that's the case
of Wendy Williams as well. Sheis a trailblazer plink blank period. And
uh, I wish her all thebest, and I just pray that God
would heal her body. And weare going to continue to pray for Wendy
her health and everything, like yousaid, her family, everybody around her.
(14:13):
Yeah, yeah, and uh Ithink that's it. I think yeah,
yep. I was sure all thebest. I did too, And
that's it for this episode of We'lljust agree to disagree. I'm Beyonce Fox
