Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Weldness Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Doctor Kim, weldness expert is here to get us right.
This month is Kidney Awareness month. You said we need
to be kind to our kidneys. What does that mean,
doctor Kim.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
That means our choices.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
When we can choose coffee, Let's choose a herbal tea
with less caffeine, because a lot of times when we
go for that coffee, we want warmth, we want comfort,
and we want energy.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
You can get all of it from tea.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Just kind of choices, kinder choices and count That means
food too, right, Yes, yes, okay, she gonna get us straight.
Good Morning Inspiration thirteen ninety family, It's Sonya Blakey on
a Wellness Wednesday. She's back weldness and wholeness and nutritionness.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
She does it all, doctor Kim.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
She is serious about health and she always comes in
here with something. Today she gets some pineapples home on
my sneak one. But this being kidney Awareness month, we
need to take our kidney serious. You said that we
need to be kind to our kidneys. When you think
about the role of a kidney, what comes to mind,
doctor Kim.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Blood and how much of a filter our kidneys are,
and we have to be kind to the organ that
filters our blood, that manages our blood pressure, that also
monitors our blood glue close levels. And so whenever we're

(01:27):
talking about being kinder to the kidneys, what you drink,
what you eat, and what you think impacts the kidney.
If you have any anxiety or fear, that's going to
impact your kidneys. So we have to practice being kinder

(01:47):
to these fearfully, wonderfully made bodies that was created in
his image, after his own likeness.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
All right, So, doctor Kim, how can we be kinder
to our kidneys so to prevent kidney failure, to prevent
us from having to go on kidney dialysis.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
There's a lot of things tied to.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
The failures of your kidney kidneys absolutely, So what are
some of the things that we can do to be
kinder to our kidneys.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
By crowding and the goodness and the crowding out some
of our habits. And I say that because there are
a lot of people that don't even hydrate to feel great.
They don't even drink one cup of water in a day,
but they may have had four or more carbonated drinks

(02:33):
soda in a day, which has so many different chemicals
in it.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
So one of the things.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
That I ask a lot of my clients is to
reduce the amount of alcohol, because some people might still
drink wine or alcohol, and absolutely just delete any carbonated
drinks that you can.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
That's one of the things.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Also I tell people to make sure that they do
two and h three H three to oh to hydrate
the body thoroughly so the kidneys can filter. That only
does the kidney filter blood, but it also takes in
your urine of course, from the things that you drink teas,

(03:20):
hot teas, decaffeinated as a matter of fact, And when
I say decaffeinated, I should say caffeine free because there's
a difference between caffeine free and decaffeinated because decaffeinated is
a chemical process that the item goes through in order
to be decaffeinated.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
And then before we take a quick break, are there
any foods that we should eat that will help us
be kinder to our kidneys?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Absolutely?

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Some of the foods that I want to say that
any of us can eat is fruit. Lots of fruit
are kind to the kidneys. You will be surprised the
fruit choices that any of us make that will help
us support kidney life.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
So fruit, fruit, fruit.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I cannot even say how much fiber and fruit that's
needed in order for the kidneys to produce fiber and fruit.
So when you think of the f's, think of fiber
and think of fruit. But fruit is your friend.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
All right.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Doctor caimv is with us Wellness Wholeness Expert Nutritionists. We're
talking about being kinder to your kidneys. We're gonna come
back and talk maybe to those that are actually on
kidney analysis, things maybe you can do while you're going
through this journey, and we're just here to help know that.
You can also find some of the shows that we've
done on Inspiration thirteen nineties website, or you can go

(04:39):
to the iHeartRadio app because there's a podcast Wellness Wednesday.
But doctor Kim, we don't want you all to miss nothing.
Good Morning Inspiration thirteen ninety family. It's Sonya Blakey on
a Wellness Wednesday. Doctor Kim teaches us so much every Wednesday.
I'm taking it all in and I wanted to bring
back our foundational scripture because what we're doing is based
on the Word of God.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Three John one and two States Beloved. That's you. That's me,
all of us. We pray that.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
All may go well with you and that you may
be in good health, just as your soul is prospering.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Doctor Kim.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
That's it right, Yeah, our foundation and we're talking about
Kidney Awareness Month. Doctor Kim told us we need to
be kinder to our kidney. So what we eat, what
we drink. And I know you have clients that may
be on dialysis or have experienced kidney failure, and there
may be somebody listening in this morning that are going

(05:35):
through that. So how do you walk them through this?
How do you counsel them through these particular areas.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Absolutely well, I tell everyone what you eat, drink and
think makes the difference. And so if you've gotten a
diagnosis where your kidney habits have not brought you the
health that's needed, some of the steps and choices that
you make our vital our keys. That's why we say
be kinder to your kidneys. So having a dietician and

(06:05):
a nutritionist is huge because you have to watch to
make sure you're not doing certain diuretics, that you're not
eating processed foods, foods filled with sugar, foods that will
have your blood pressure up or your glucose levels off.
All of those actually lead to diabetes as well when

(06:26):
your kidneys are compromised. So it's always good that you
research yourself. Make sure that in your research that you
know what works good with your body.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Every person is different.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
And once you lock in on those whole grains or
those fruits or those supplements, make sure that you get
into the routine of no, you can have this, you
can have this.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
You have to be disciplined.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
This is your This is an organ that filters your body.
This is the organ that regulates your blood pressure, that
make sure your glue close levels are good. And so
we must be disciplined enough to say, I will not
eat this, I will not drink this, I will not
think this. And even when you're going to dialysis, put

(07:20):
on some wonderful music, put on some healing scriptures, get
to a healing diet, and stick with it because you
don't have to live with that diagnosis all of your life.
There are things that can be reversed and can be
prevented even with early detection. But we must be kinder

(07:41):
to our Kidsdergray.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Doctor Kim is giving it to us like we need it.
