making me feel welcomed.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, we got to talk about this because kidney disease,
kidney failure, it all happens in our community. A lot
of folks are on dialysis, folks need kidney transplants. What
are we talking about today, doctor Kim.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
How to be kinder to your kidneys. We can all
be kinder to our kidneys and a lot of times
we don't realize just small, I mean little small choices
can allow us to switch on. I want to say
(01:22):
those healing mechanisms that's needed so that our kidneys will
be able to really thrive.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
And what are some of the things that you would
recommend to have healthy kidneys.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Sure, let's just start by this is all of us.
Some of us we hold our urine and we say
I'm gonna go to the restaurom or you know, I'll
get to it. No, when our kidneys say I need
to release, we need to release that one simple free
thing that we can all do. The other thing that
we can do is hydrate to feel great, we must
(01:56):
make sure throughout the day we are hydrating our bodies
to the max level. When I say to the max level,
there's H two oh and there's H three to oh.
That's the hydration that we receive from fruits and the
hydration that we receive from water itself. So making sure
(02:18):
that we have the right amount of fruits, the right
amount of water, and using the restroom, those two things
are very very important. Did you know that high blood
pressure as well as kidney health leads to even diabetes,
So our kidneys are very very important. And so that's
(02:43):
why this month and us highlighting and featuring what we
need to do is.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Keep Are we going to come back National Kidney Month
on this Wednesday here with doctor Kim On Inspiration thirteen
ninety Wellness Wednesday with Doctor Kim, you said we should
be kind to our kit nies. What does that mean?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
That means stopping kidney disease, kidney failures, kidney transplants by
regulating and helping control what we eat and the nutrients
we put in our bodies.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
All right, well, we're back with doctor Kim. It's National
Kidney Month on this Wellness Wednesday. Good morning, it's Fretion
thirteen ninety family, it's Sonya Blakey. I know we played
the music, we played the hits, but we need to
provide you valuable information for you to live long and
live strong. Doctor Kim is here National Kidney Month. You
mentioned earlier that we should not hold our urine. We
(03:34):
should go to the bathroom where we need to go,
don't hold it. You also mentioned that we need to hydrate,
drink lots of water for good kidney health. What else
can you add to this conversation, Doctor Kim?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Absolutely just letting people know that they need to be
kinder to their kidneys. Didn't you know that your kidneys
literally regulate the nutrients you consume. So we talked earlier
that this is National Nutrition Month, and nutrition when it is,
you know, really taken seriously and understanding how the nutrients
(04:10):
that we eat actually improve and impact how our body
either breaks down, detoxes, fight immunity, all of that. To
know that our kidneys hold such a vital important role.
They need to filter our blood and so it's important
that we eat healthy, that we actually watch our lycemic
(04:35):
index because I also share with you that healthy eating
can help control even diabetes and high blood pressure, because
those are the things that causes kidney disease, that lead
to kidney disease. We see so many different institutions being
popped up in people there, but sometimes it's also directly
(04:57):
related to a diabetes, and diabetes comes from what we're
consuming and what we're eating. So we have to be
kinder to our kidneys and watch our glycemic index. Can
I share a tip with you?
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yes, sure.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Whenever we are waking up from breakfast because we slept
and we had a long extended hour of not eating,
it's best to watch how we eat. And so I
always tell people to eat some apples and a couple
of walnuts before you start eating, and it will help
(05:33):
your pancreous and your insolent release healthy. And guess what,
your kidneys are happy and you're being kinder to your kidneys.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Wow, such valuable information, Doctor Kim. We want to make
sure that our community is whyse and they're eating wise
and they're thinking, and our kidneys are essential to our
well being. So, doctor Kim, if folks want more information,
