Speaker 1 (00:03):
Panama Silly's number one country station WPAP.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Doctor Shane and Tessa's iheard Country Minute on WAP.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Well, if you are a guy who's ever been to
a Keith Urban show live, he kind of knows the
reason why you're there. He's stopped by Mark Maron's podcast
and said that men only come to his show for
two reasons. Either they play guitar or a woman made
them go.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
I call them the reluctant boyfriends because I see them
out in the crowd less less so now than early
in my career. In my career, I would look out
in the arena, see these guys with their arms folded.

Speaker 5 (00:35):
Yeah, and you can tell they're like, yeah, she seems happy.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
And then I'd watch them slowly like look up like
then it would change completely and they'd walk out very
very different. But they always start the sort of reluctant
guy who got dragged along to the conception.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
And I need to replace the good news story of
the day with the country music news because it's hard
to not come across a country singer doing something good
these days. More and Walland donated five hundred thousand dollars
in musical instruments to schools that he stopped in along
the last.

Speaker 6 (01:06):
Tour that he was on, So that's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's called the One Instrument at a Time initiative, so
it's pretty cool. Underfunded music programs k through twelve schools
that he's helping out. And then Jelly Roll made a
stop during a very busy week. He was supposed to
play in Atlanta, Georgia Saturday night, but stopped by Winder,
Georgia to play a school in a small town. And
if that sounds familiar, that's where a tragic school shooting
took place last month. Two students, two teachers lost their lives,

(01:31):
but he played them a small private concert and he
made sure to remember each of the victims by name
from the stage and played a full set for the
Winder community.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I love it when these these celebrities, these entertainers, they
give back, they give back, they get in bombed the
community of the kids. Keith, Yeah, jelly Roll, everybody, and
then Morgan Wallan, how how many checks is he?

Speaker 5 (01:56):
Then Dolly, she keeps.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Donating the concert for Caroline. That's just continuing to have
an impact. And then on top of that, Morgan doubles
down with this instrument donation.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I love it. I love it makes you feel good.
Here Doctor Shandon Tests coming back on WPAP, Panama City.
Welcome back Doctor Shandon Tests. In the morning of WPAP,
we have your shot at one thousand dollars starting at
nine again at ten, eleven, nine times today at the
top of the hour. When you hear the keyword, make
sure you enter it on our website nine two five

(02:26):
WPAP dot com or a chance to win one thousand dollars, big,
big stuff. All right, I hope you're ready, because we're ready,
you know.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
Jerry, I got it.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Jerry sitting on the side of his seat, rolling too.
It's time for tesses. Five random facts on ninety two
five WPAP.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Brought to you by our friends Jerry Pybus and Jerry
Pibus Electric And they're your local trusted electricians. So if
you need a quote, if you need some work done,
don't hesitate to give them a call.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
Just don't hesitate, call them, get it done, Get it done. There,
all right, down to five to one go number five.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
Tick Ocean is much saltier than the Pacific. I don't know.
Maybe because it's smaller, it's less alluded to.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
That's not scientific.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
At all.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
No, no, no, it makes sense. It makes sense.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
If you are allowed to play country names in scrabble,
Mozambique is worth the most points in scrabble of any
other country. You will get you thirty two points. And
that's m O z A and b I q u E.
Lots lots of great letters in there.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
That's the way I spell it. Number three.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
So you know that smell that you smell when it
rains afterwards, and that kind of it's called actually petrocore petracore. Yeah,
it's the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
You see.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
The scent is from water interacting with plant oils.

Speaker 5 (03:45):
Yep, yep.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
That makes sense to me. And I love that it's
so calming and refreshing when you smell that right after
a good run.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
I like that. Number two.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
They believe that the T shirt originated from a type
of this all in one underwear known as the union suit,
and it would go from like your neck all the
way down to your toe or to your ankles pretty much.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
There's patented in eighteen sixty eight in New York, but
a lot of the workers took to cutting these outfits
in half to keep cool. And hot weather. So the
union suit when they chopped it in half became the
T shirt.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
Makes sense to me. I'm so glad they patented it.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
I don't bet with me today.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
I'm going to send a box jellyfish after you. Oh no,
because they're not only the most venomous jellies to humans,
but they also have at least twenty four functioning eyes
despite not having a centralized brain. Yeah, a box jellyfish
with twenty four eyes, that's a walking and you're drinking water.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
No, keep making fun of me.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
No, I'm not. I'm glad we got the you know,
testa's five random, patented, patented, patented.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
I couldn't do it today.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
You want to try it. I don't want to try it. Patented, Okay,
we're coming patented. That's it, patented, that's it. You could
do it. I knew you could. I knew you could
save it for a rainy one.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
That's Casey Kenny Chessey this morning, a ninety two five DOUBDPAP.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
We're glad you're here. Happy Halloween. By the way, Good
morning cruise. I'm looking for some action. Well, I'm glad
we got all that out in the open sounds I
think dirtier than they meant it to. What are you guys?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Do you have to pay attention to act?

Speaker 5 (05:26):
You don't know what this is about? This place is
crack a luckis all right?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Twelve minutes half for the hour here on doubdpap Homeiday, Wednesday,
October the thirtieth on. This is the eve of the
Boogie Boogie Holiday. If you want to call it a holiday.
I just think it's a great time to dress up
and have fun and get some sweet truts. I do
want to ask you real quick, do you know why
monsters will not bite or eat a ghost?

Speaker 5 (05:56):
They want? Monsters will not bite or eat a ghost?
Do you know what?

Speaker 6 (05:59):
They're just like floating things that they don't have a body.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
No, they taste like sheet Shane call well they do.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
They just they taste just like sheet.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Just making sure you got it. You are right. I
didn't expect that cute.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Cute idiot.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
It's like, I don't you didn't expect that.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
I did not together, I.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Really, I really just did that joke. I thought it
was funny when I heard it yesterday.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
I thought it was funny, but it's cute.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Tell me what is going on?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Please explain to us what is happening with Panama City
Mall Sears building test.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Well, they started the demolition on it, but it seems
to kind of have like taken a standstill or a halt.
But now we do know when the former Seers in
the Panama City Mall. They're expecting to complete that in November,
so it's pretty interesting. The former Sears building currently under
demolition started in August. But they say the mall is
private property if you're wondering what's going on, So the

(07:03):
final decision on what to do with it as a
whole is up to the owner. Now, they filed a
development forum to divide the property into smaller parcels for
individual development, so you know, there's a code enforcement case
opened up on it, but.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
It's your smaller properties.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yeahs further so that's what that's what's happening with the
Seers property because they're looking at f dot improvements at
that intersection of seventy seven and two thirty one, and
that's going to have them use some of the former
Seers property. But as for the rest of the mall,
the city still has no plans on what to do
with it. So the future is still unknown, but the
Sears part itself expecting that to be finished with demolition

(07:38):
early November.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
Early November.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
All right, better go by and get a picture. And now, man,
I'm going to miss Sears. There was nothing like Craftsmen
tools man, And when you go in you can refrigerator,
wash or dryer, television and then go over there and
get your blue jeans and some till Is shoes if
you wanted to.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
I mean they had everything.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I mean it's just the experience of the mall, especially
around the holidays, just walking around and getting a ideas
for gifts and Santa was always there.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
And would you like a peer park type park over here?

Speaker 6 (08:07):
I mean I would them all. I wouldn't mind it.
Do something.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Yeah, we got I mean it's it's primo. It's it's
primo real estate. We've got to develop it for the
county and for the city. I mean, I hope they
do something with it.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
New restaurants, you know, something for families and kids to do.
We have stuff like just jump over there on the
beach or you know some some more activities and things
for people to get out.

Speaker 6 (08:28):
And do together, you know, as a community. I think
would be nice.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
It would be nice fifteen minutes after the hour here
on WPAP test at nine am this morning.

Speaker 6 (08:36):
It's another shot, Yeah, another keyword.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
On ninety two FIFAP. Welcome back to the show this morning.
We do have breaking news this hour. Here seven twenty four,
twenty four minute of chatter the hour yesterday the bolo
that was out in Bay County Sheriff's Office in Jackson
County Sheriff's Office looking for Jesse Bailey, a suspect in
a stabbing yesterday. Both organizations looking for that suspect and

(09:34):
this just out from the Bay County Sheriff's office just
moments ago. Here Jesse Bailey, aged thirty, is in custody.
Bailey wanted as we mentioned in connection to a stabbing yesterday.
He is in round and being taken to the Bay
County jail. So I want to let you know they
have found the stabbing suspect identified as Jesse Bailey, aged thirty.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Doctor Shane and Test present three.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
Things you need to know ONPAP.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Maybe this will help some of our airfare woes. Airlines
are now required to refund passengers automatically for canceled or
significantly delayed flights.

Speaker 5 (10:35):
Did you say refund?

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
This is under the Department of Transportation's new rules that
airlines will be required to provide cash refunds promptly without
customers needing to ask. Domestic flights delayed by three hours
or more and international flights delayed by six hours or
more qualified for a full refund. And they'll also have
to refund for service passengers paid but weren't provided, like
Wi Fi or entertainment, So if you've paid for those

(11:00):
in addition to your flight, the pass or of your ticket,
then they're going to have to refund that as well.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
I like it, I like it, I like it good.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
Crocs for dogs sold out on the first day.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Crocs for Dogs Wow yep.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
The pet boots were priced at fifty dollars and came
in green and pink colors. The matching clogs for pet
owners were also a hit on crock days, so you
could get Crocs for yourself and your pet, but they
sold out.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Crazy budget will not allow Crocs for a dog. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
No, and TGI Fridays abruptly closed about fifty locations. This
week's CNN reported they're known for their endless apps, and
they reportedly they're weighing bankruptcies. So Friday's had two hundred
and seventy locations in the US at the beginning of
the year, down to one hundred and sixty four today,
a mid competition from lower cost restaurants, and of course

(11:47):
they're mounting pile of debt. Red Lobster also one of
those popular dining chains, already filing for bankruptcy this year
as consumers shift their spending habits to save money.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Three things you need to know.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Everybody you know right now wied you.

Speaker 1 (12:03):

Hardy in this truck bed this morning, au WPAP, Welcome

it at that Cajun place.

is where it's can be held.

Speaker 5 (13:10):

Speaker 1 (13:16):

Speaker 2 (13:26):

you don't drink Bloody Marry's. But there's seven restaurants participating
and your ticket in we'll get you a sample of
all and realistically you can you know, you're supposed to
get one sample from each one, but you can get
multiple samples.

Speaker 5 (13:44):

Speaker 3 (13:45):
And I'm looking at Patches Pub and Grill, that Cajun Place,
Hammer Had Friend's, Barefoot on the Beach, the deckhand Social
Off the hook Bar and girl Neons and Crysto's.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
The community comes to fantastic places.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Yeah, a lot of people participate and tell me the
money raised, the awareness, where does it go in the community?

Speaker 5 (14:02):
What do you it goes?

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I mean with the Grendl Goon coalition that puts on
these events. We also do the fireworks on fourth of July.
A lot of the money that we've that comes from
this helps fund that and we try and do some
different projects around the city and so forth.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Well. It it's so good to have DCP in the studio.
We usually go to dak kg place, we go to DCP,
but to have you guys here, I just want to
say thank you for what you've done. We've watched you
grow over the past few years, have become bigger and
bigger and bigger, and honor Allen. My goodness, listen, you
guys just got back from was it overseas again in Ireland?

Speaker 5 (14:38):
Tell me what happened? And he placed again?

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Yes, suh. He was favorite to win and Martin, we

the world. You can't know you not that at.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
All, my gosh, in the world.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
And when it comes to oyster shucking, when it comes
to oyster shocking, there's nobody better than Honor Allen, nobody.

Speaker 2 (14:57):

out to three or four, maybe five. I've got to
ask real quick about live entertainment right now. We're watching
ball games right now, DCP. But tell me when does
the live bands and stuff like that come back on

Speaker 2 (15:47):
As soon as football season's over. We have music again

Yeah, a lot of fun. All right.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Let's talk about today's dates. Wednesday, October the thirtieth, Today
is a big day for candy corn. Yeah, National Candy
Corn Day. Twelve percent of people say candy corn is
their favorite Halloween candy.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
That's low.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Sixteen percent of people say candy corn is the worst.
Let's talk about some things that we didn't know about
candy corn.

Speaker 5 (17:09):
This is interesting.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Candy corn invented in the eighteen eighties tests by George
Reener is a candy maker at Wonderree Candy Company that
makes that candy.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
Over one hundred and forty years old.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Candy corn was first marketed they called it test when
it first came on the market chicken feed because it
looks like.

Speaker 6 (17:29):
Corn that you would feed chickens. Makes sense.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
See it's white, it's it's orange, it's yellow. Do you
know white has three leathers, three layers, and it has
that color. Really it represents the harvest season. Okay, so
the way it's white, yellow, orange. And besides Halloween, candy
corn has flavors like reindeer corn that they've put out
for Christmas. I haven't seen it. There's cupid corn that

(17:51):
they throw out listen for balance instead. I haven't seen
it either. I'm all year round bunny corn for Easter funnies.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
Don't eat corn?

Speaker 5 (18:02):
O what you may want? A candy corn in your
Easter basket from the Easter birth And there you go.
Now you're smiling, happy candy corn. There you all things
you didn't know about candy corn.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Thirteen minutes after the hour, we still have a shot
coming up at nine am to win one thousand dollars
and that continues all day.

Speaker 6 (18:18):
Yeah, that's your first keyword.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
But then there's one every single hour after that at
the top of the hour, and every time is a
chance to win a grand You just have to plug
it in on our website nine two five wpap dot
com It's.

Speaker 6 (18:26):
