that you know, thanks again for having you know that
that thought ever since you've been sheriff for Gone County
to be going into now this fourth and anual Thanksgiving
food giveaway. We've been part of it since day one,
and I've seen all the strides, everything that you and
(01:05):
your department has done in the community and your you know,
all the resources you get from your sponsors and all
that you know, fourth Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway. First of all,
welcome to the IHRE Studios. When come to say that again,
you know this is your second home. You know, how's
it beeny.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Man, I'm just trying to be like it's mutual. It's mutual.
I got you, man, Thank you so much. I've been
good out there, busy, extremely busy, you know, trying to
not only you know, be the head of this agency,
but trying to continue to be the head of the agency.
And but like I just said just a little while ago, Man,
(01:43):
I'm so blessed because I got good staff, you know,
like with Lieutenant Hare you know, and other people that
make these things happen. And it's really not labor intensive
for me, but it's extremely labor intensive for them. So
I'm just very aro. You should have been very blessed
to have them, and uh, we're just blessed to be
able to bless other people.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
That's it, Sheriff, talk to me about Lieutenant hair Man.
He's always from day one going up and down the
different events that you guys do.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Lieutenant.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
First of all, welcome to the set that studios and
thanks for all the hard work that you and your
team put through, you know, day of the event and
obviously preparing for it too.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Right, Good morning, good morning, Thank you, Thank you for
having us. It's always a pleasure to be here, especially
when you know we're in the community, you know, looking
to just do things and strive to you know, be
the best we can and serve our community best we can.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
That's it. So Sheriff, when this comes up, you know,
coming into the fourth year. I know you guys do
the back to school, you do a lot of different activities,
But what is Thanksgiving mean to you your family and
what do you want it to mean to the community.
When you put this event together.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
It speaks for so Thanksgiving, we're given thanks we're giving back.
And you know, as we move along in our culture, man,
sometimes we forget the spirit of what we started and
the whole just of what we're doing. And you know,
for me, my Thanksgiving is being able to give back.
And you know there's people out here. You know, we
(03:11):
talk about Gwennet County and folks see an image of
Gwennett County, you know, with money, houses, places, cars, things
such as that. But there's still a large population of
folks out there that still are experiencing these food insecurities.
And I know we started it, you know, as a
result of COVID, but what we found is is that
(03:33):
the needs are still here and so as long as
we're you know, can can continue to work with our partners,
and let me say thank you to all of our partners.
And I don't want to get into naming our partners
right now. Lead that up the hair because I know
I will leave somebody out, but we couldn't do it
without them, you know, I couldn't do it without my staff.
And you know, it's just such a it's such a
(03:56):
good thing, you know, to be able to do it.
And you know, if I'm blessed them enough to get
re elected, you know we're gonna come back and we'll
come back with some new stuff next year.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
That's it. Coming in strong and coming in stronger as
as a result. So Sheriff, you know, we know that
this event is something that attracts a lot of people,
like you say, not even just from Gwenear County. I've seen,
you know, when those lines start, you know, ramping up
on the parking lot of the Gwennett County Fairgrounds. I
mean you see license plates from different counties, Man from Fulton,
from Clayton County. People drive up for the need, like
(04:27):
you said, you know, and I appreciate you, you know,
allowing everybody you know to give to everybody, you know,
not just for your people in your county, and you know,
I want to applaud you for that and and the
rest of your team. And then the day of the event,
I mean we're talking about turkeys. Give them the rundown
on to everything that people get when they when they
drive up to that to that drive up.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I'm gonna give it a shot. And if I don't
get it completely right, yeah, he'll come back in and
clean up. But we're gonna have turkeys. I think you
said two thousand roasters, that's correct, and I don't know
how many hams. And then they'll get some our storage
gook goods that you know that they can store up
and make sure you know whether they use it for
(05:07):
the meal prep before or Thanksgiving, you know that they'll
have it.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
That's it. I mean, you get the full meal hooked up. Lieutenant,
tell me what happens day of the events. So for
the people that are thinking where is it located, For
the people that maybe don't know the Lawrenceville area, how
do they get there and what's the expectation once you
get there?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Okay, So it's going to be on November seventh at
the Gwenette County Fairgrounds. Food distribution is going to start
from eleven am until four pm or while supplies last.
There is no registration, so it's first come, first serve,
and just like Sheriff Taylor mentioned, you'll get a box
of dry goods and shelf sustainable goods, can goods, things
(05:48):
of that nature, as well as a protein to accommodate
a full meal, you know, similar to what you know
you would have on Thanksgiving. We have plenty of parking
in the parking lot. We can account for maybe or
hold up to about the thousand cars in the parking
lot at a time, So get there early. Once the
(06:08):
food distribution starts at eleven, it should go pretty quickly.
There will be a service board giving directions on where
to go how to get there. But essentially if you
google Gwenete County Fairgrounds or twenty four or five Sugarloat
Park with Sugarloat Parkway, Lawrence Kill, Georgia, yep, and you'll
see all the signs and we'll be out there ready
(06:30):
to help. There will be deputies and volunteers, and shout
out to our volunteers for helping. They play an integral
part in you know, helping us, you know, provide food
for this many people all at once, because, believe it
or not, this is one of the largest food drives
that any law enforcement agency does in the state of
Georgia and maybe even further than that. So, you know,
(06:51):
we just asked people to be patient, make sure your
vehicles are filled up with gas. We will have portable
restrooms out there. There will be people handing out waters
and different things if that's something that you are in
need of at that time. You know, again, we love
serving our community. We love helping folks that are in need,
and that's our calling, you know, that's that's what we're
(07:12):
here for outside of you know, law enforcement, you know responsibilities.
You know, community outreach strives to you know, to be
the best we can be as far as identifying those
needs in the community.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
And Lieutenant, you know, what do we expect next year
for twenty five? I know you guys aren't can't speak
too much about it, but you know it's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
A great year to write with.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Definitely, Definitely, we'll continue with our Back to School bash,
We'll continue with the Thanksgiving food giveaway. One neat event
we put on this year, which was the first time,
was our Carl Goodbar Motorcycle Scholarship Pride. That's something that
is very dear to Sheriff Taylor and this was in
(07:53):
honor of Major Carl Goodbar who was a employee of
Gwenett County Police and the Sheriff's Office and a good
friend of the share.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
The scholarship is going to go towards uh those high
school kids, junior senior year kids that are related to
law enforcement and or their parent is law enforcement or
veteran military personnel. And so you know, that's something we'll
be able to give a little bit of money or
scholarship to those kids that are you know, looking to
(08:23):
achieve higher education or or you know, outside training or
whatever whatever their endeavors may be once they graduate.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
And Lieutenant, all they got to do is what go
to to the y'all's website for more information.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, if you contact you can contact the Community Outreach
team at GCSO Community Outreach at Gwinnette County dot com
or you can give us a call at six seven
eight three seven two seven two nine to two and
we can provide you with as much information and details
on how to you know, apply for those scholarships or
donate for any cost that we may be uh, you know,
(08:56):
trying to collect funding.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
For perfect perfect Sheriff. Always always a pleasure to have
you here.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
You know, we forgot one thing. Oh you guys gonna
come out and help with the oil man.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Man We're gonna get We're gonna get the sheriff finally
start dancing with us a little you know, you know,
pull a uh, you know, pull a bone or something.
But it's gonna be a good time. I know it's
gonna be a good time. Like always, you know, we
we always bring in the music, the Latin music. We
mix it up with a little hip hop, a little pop,
you know, make it inviting, like like you always do
(09:30):
for your community. You know, you want everybody to feel,
you know, welcome to to Gwenett County. We know the
mayors involved with with the entire county, but you as
as as a sheriff of Gwenette County, I know you
do a lot of work, you know, with your community
to make sure that one the community safe, which is
you know, I think the most important thing. You know,
I've seen what you've been doing on your social media,
(09:51):
you know, addressing certain issues and things that are happening
in the community. But also on the other side, from
the outreach side, making sure that you know, people get
what they need and you know so, Sheriff again, thanks
for stopping by the seta studios of patron studios that
I heard studios. I mean you've been all over. I
seen you in the beach studio. I mean they're keeping
you busy. Miss Pam Fowler over here is making you.

on the there with a T shirt.
