Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you and I five? It's the Erica Show. It's
a Monday work. It's probably been hard today. Get Lauren
on the phone. She is about to walk away from everything, y'all.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
You know, I'm an executive at a large company that
is running many parts of the world, and I can't
say exactly what that company is. Look honestly, for many
years in corporate America, I'm thinking and walking away and
selling everything to just be not answering any calls.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
How long have you been in corporate America?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Twenty years?

Speaker 1 (00:26):
And she's about to walk away from it all.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Here's the thing. I've traveled. I've experienced all the luxuries
of life, but when it's all said and done, you
had to think about what really matters, and that's your
peace of mind. That's not working for a company that doesn't.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Care about you.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's about caring about yourself. Am I scared? How are you?
I'm doing it anyway?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
How do you do it though? Because a lot of
us want to do that, but we ain't got no
money at the bank, So.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
How do you do it? Well? I in my situation,
I've saved a lot of money. I'm just going to
have to downscam, and that just looks like maybe, you know,
getting rid of the vacation home. Maybe I'm not going
on my usual three holidays a year. You know, I'm
just gonna spread it down some more.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Kudos to you, Lauren, that is exciting for this new chapter.
Anybody else you're willing to walk away from it all?
Maybe you already have, just like Lauren is about to do.
Nine one nine eight six, So one O five to one.
D you want O five? It's the Erica Show. Have
you ever walked away from something major? So Lauren reached out.
She is walking away from corporate America. She's got a
good paying job, and she's like, you know what, I

(01:23):
just want the simple life. Anybody else planning to do
that like Lauren or you already did it? Nine one,
nine eight six so one O five to one, Janine.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
I really want to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Okay, so let's stop win. I know what's stop at me.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
I'll pay check.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
But what what is stopping you from doing that?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Well? You know, I mean it's it's the grass really
greener on the other side and whatnot. But I mean,
it's just like the things that people take seriously in
the corporate world. They're just so petty and don't matter.
Sometimes It's just like I, you know, I'm trying to
find ways to unwind after work, so I'm not so
annoyed with everybody just being like why didn't you on

(02:00):
your email like that? Or oh did you really have
to say that at the meeting. It's very like it's
it's all political, and I don't think there is anything
stopping me. I think I will just do it.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Okay, So maybe the last color motivated you then, and
you're just y'all have to give us updates?

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yes, absolutely?

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Do you want to?

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Five?

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Is the Erica Show? Who out there is willing to
give up some of the luxuries in your life for
a more stress free, simple life. Like Lauren, who's got
a high paying corporate job. But she was like, you
know what, I don't want to answer to anybody anymore.
I'm just gonna have to sell some things. But I'm
quitting at least for a while, to be at peace.
So anybody else have you done that? Nine one nine
eight six one five one Tory?

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, I actually have. I quit my job. I spilled
my townhouse and I'm.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Like, let's just go.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I mean, I'm not getting any younger. I want to
see the country.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
So how so how long have you been doing it for?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Oh gosh, it's it's probably been about six months now.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Okay, so so far, so good.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, no regrets. You know, I'm very fortunate that I
have the funds to be able to do that. But
I think, you know, it's kind of winding down. I'm
trying to look for jobs again.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
But it's been great.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
I've you know, met so many cool people.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
And but where do you stay? Do you stay like
in a hotel or you stay in your car? Like
how do you where do you go? And where do
you stay at night? And shower?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
I definitely called in a lot of favors with my friends, okay,
like college friends that like lived elsewhere and stuff like that,
and family members. So you've encountered, yes, But every once
in a while, you know, I'll get a hotel and
be a little fancier.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Okay, very cool. And so do you have any regrets
or are you planning to go back to working? Like
what's the plan.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
I'm at the point where I'm applying and if they
get back to me and it's a good opportunity, I'm
going to go for it, but I'm not in a
major hurry, like there's still a few places left on
my list I really want to go to to keep
moving forward, you know, whatever life throws at me.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
I love that. Well, kudos to you keep us posted
on your travels and your adventures.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Thanks, will Do
