Speaker 1 (00:00):
G one I five, It's the Erica Show. Brandy Sadler
back on the phone from the Prom Shop, which is
happening in March. You guys have been doing this for
how many years now?
Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is our seventeenth year.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
That's incredible. Everybody in the triangle knows about this event,
which tell everybody, maybe the newbies that have moved to
the triangle, what is the prom Shop and how does
it help the community.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Sure, this is our seventeenth year doing this, and we
provide prom dresses and all accessories to girls who can't
afford to a TAM prom or who just need a
little help being able to afford to a TAM prom,
all at no cost.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
And that's like everything, all the accessories, everything, They can
just literally walk up. Now, how do you do you
have to sign up? Or anybody that shows up to
try on a dress, they can go home with a dress.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
That's right. So I think that's what sets us apart
is that we provide everything dress, shoes, jewelry, makeup, and accessories,
so head to toe you do not have to preregister.
All you have to do is show up and sign
in and start shopping.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Which is incredible because prom is so expensive, but it's
also a milestone that you never forget in your life
as you're a child or young adult, so it really
is special. Now, how can the community help provide these
dresses or things that are needed?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Sure Eric study was released in July that said the
average cost of prom now is two thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Oh my gosh and insane, it really is.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
And with the cost of everything so high now, that
is not doable for a lot of families. So we
want to alleviate that burden. We have been blessed by
the community to have dress donations coming in and we
will continue to take donations of white new dresses within
five years up to February twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Fourth, Okay, And then the event where is it? What's
the date, the times that you could shop and all
of that.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
So our event is Friday February twenty eighth from three
to seven and Saturday, March first from nine to one.
And it's a Apex United Methodist Church in Apex.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I love it. And then is there a website or
anything that people can stay up to date or if
they forget the address, they can go and save it
on their phone.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Everything we have is located on our Facebook page so
you can get all the details about the entire weekend,
all the frequently asked questions, all of the lists of
things that we still need is found on our Facebook
page which is apex UMC prop Jobs.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Okay, thank you so much, Brandy, and I love that
y'all have kept this tradition alive. It really is special
in this community.
