Speaker 1 (00:00):
Leslie and Lindsay from Unsellable Houses Love and always enjoy
your personalities. But you are coming to the Triangle, so
tell us let's go on. What are you doing at
the Fairgrounds?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
So this is Leslie. We are super excited. We are
coming into town tomorrow on Thursday, but on Friday and Saturday.
We are actually speaking on Friday at three pm and
on Saturday at one So that's the eleventh and twelfth
of April, and we're going to be on the Fresh

(00:32):
Idea stage at the Home and Garden Show and we're
going to be sharing a little bit about just our
experience on the show, our business being twins, just really anything.
I mean, we're just there to have fun and meet people.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Well, and it's such a good show. A lot of
people come out. They'll have so many questions for you, like,
for instance, twins, do you get mixed up ever? Or
do people I know you have differences, like your hairs different, so,
but do you ever people ask and get you mixed
up when they're trying to address you, whether it's at
work or in person.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
This is Lindsay. I would say, you know, it's more
our voices. People get our voices still confused. Our mom
still does sometimes on the phone, but in person we
do definitely look like people generally say we look a
lot more alike in person than on the show, so

(01:25):
people are surprised when they meet us in person.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
And how did this even happen in the first place?
Because you were just doing your business, doing your life,
like thriving great personalities, and then you meet executives from HGTV.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
How did that all come about?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
This is Lindsay again. It actually started we were hosting
silly YouTube videos on YouTube and a production company just
found us randomly and called us one day. That's really
the short of it, and then it all kind of
snowballed from there.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
How long did it take from that call to actually
making the show happened?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Oh? Man, Lynz, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm
pretty sure it took like almost a year.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Oh yeah, Okay, all exciting because you're like, wow, we're
just doing living our best life, you know, thriving in
our gifts, and then it turned into a show exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
We would just be in our silly, dorky selves and
somebody thought it was entertaining and we just felt like, well, great,
we get to be ourselves and you know, get a
TV show for it.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
When it comes to trends, of course, people are always
trying to keep up with the trends. What do you
have to say about decorating your home with the latest
trend or doing something that resonates with you or your style?

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Like what would you choose?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
This is and yeah, go ahead, sorry less, no, this
is lindsay again, I would say, you know, as far
as the styles right now and the trends right now,
we're definitely moving towards personality and your personal style, your
personal trends no longer trying to accomplish the you know,

(03:08):
all white source simple. Look, it's definitely about what makes
you happy.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Now when you.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Say that though, because so, for instance, my husband is
very neutral everything, then there's me and I could have
a graffiti all in my house if he would, you know,
be fine with that. So how do you morph together
two different personalities to create this perfect space for somebody?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh, that's probably the hardest process of it all, figuring
out which one to go with. I would say, you know,
it's about compromise, making sure everybody gets a little bit
of their own style and personality in there. You know.
The big thing is, though, when you go to sell,
it's not so much about personality anymore so much about

(03:50):
what you like. It's about what's going.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
To appeal to the masses.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
So as much as we love the personality, as much
as we love all of that also needs to be about,
you know, what is going to sell, and when it
comes time to sell, we have to appeal to as
many people as possible.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
So what is the most sellable? Is it those neutral
colors or certain you know styles in the home that
really people seem seem to gravitate towards or help it
sell quicker.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
It's always going to be a more neutral, clean look
so that people can see their own style in there.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
So I'm not getting my graffiti wall.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
You're not getting your.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Griffy wall if you want to sell, But if you
want to live there for a long time, you graffiti
all you want.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
What is y'all's personal favorite like for each of you,
is there a style that you personally love.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
That's a really good question. This is lindsay. I definitely
tend to be more eclectic, more earthy. So my house
is filled with, you know, lots of things I like.
I do have a lot of you know, personal treasures,
knick knacks, and a lot of plants. Okay, so I'm very,

(05:04):
very eclectic.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
I have equally as many plans, but I'm definitely more simple.
I have about oh maybe six unneeded items in my house,
and other than that, everything has a purpose.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Okay, I like that. See my husband would be very
on board with that. Yes, is there something that homeowners
should never do as a DIY.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Diy things that are outside of your skill set. But
you're not a plumber, you're not an electrician, if you're
a school teacher, then first off, God bless you because
you're a better human than us. And second of off,
don't try to rewire your home.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Let the experts do it.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
But the things that are, you know, more creative.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
And things that are not going to devalue your home
and can easily be fixed or improved upon, like paint
and wallpaper and hardware, Go for have fun landscaping, but
don't do the things that you could really mess up.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Right, So all the spouses out there that think they
could do it themselves, just go ahead and pay one
hundred and fifty dollars fee to get somebody to come out.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
And do it is.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Is there a no no?

Speaker 1 (06:28):
And this is more for not so much selling, but
for those that are you know, recently purchased and they're
living in their homes and they're looking for furniture when
it comes to matchy matchy sets, are you like, that's
not cool and go with the individual pieces?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
This is lindsay. I think it's it's fun to have,
you know, a mismatch set when it comes to your
living room. So if you've got you know, a leather couch,
then pull in some different fabric for your side chairs.
You know, you don't need your coffee table and in
tables to match anymore. You know, you can play around

(07:02):
with those pieces and more textures, just create more of
a you know, more depth, more interest, more you know,
just fun in that space.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
You know.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
It also allows you to to to be able to
live and move in that space for a longer amount
of time, meaning that if you want to change it out,
you've got more that you can work with. You're not
so boxed in when you try to keep everything so
matchy matchy. So down the road, you could maybe remove

(07:38):
one of those pieces and bring something else in and
it can feel totally different.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Okay, I love that. I love that advice. What project
are y'all now currently working on?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Oh gosh, how many projects?

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Could?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:52):
J then yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
What about you personally in your house? You're like a
paint master, right oh man?

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Right now I'm repainting everything because I have three teenage
boys and it has to be done.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
About every three years.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Oh yeah, though it doesn't even stay good for three years.
But yeah, I am color blocking everything. I love dark,
moody colors and I just painted my entire bedroom, ceiling, walls,
trim everything like the darkest, moodiest green and I'm.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Obsessed with it.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
And now I can't ever get myself out of bed.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Oh that's so great. I love it. The ceiling too,
that's amazing.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Oh I'm obsessed.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Okay, so painting and what else are you guys working on?

Speaker 2 (08:40):
We have a lot of work projects. I spend five
hours yesterday at a beautiful farmhouse that we're going to
be popping up the ceiling on. So that's a huge project.
We're putting a couple additions on, by tons of kitchens
and baths and all kinds of things.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
All love So you're always busy, always creating of course,
full of personality. How can people stay connected with y'all?
And of course you're gonna be at the fair Grounds
this weekend for the Southern Home Show, so go see
them on stage Friday and Saturday, get those tickets. But
where can people stay connected with you on a regular
basis and keeping up with all your projects?

Speaker 3 (09:18):
You know, Instagram great place. We've got several accounts, We've
got our design account. Everything is you know, Lamb and Company,
So you can go to Lamb and Company and then
from there you'll find Lindsay Leslie Design all of our
accounts and then also our website. It's Lamb and Company

(09:38):

so we're doing virtual design across the country. But we're
providing three D renderings all of the great stuff to
help you get your projects started off the ground and
really from start to finish. Will help with whatever it
is a pink color to furnishing room to helping you

(10:01):
redesign the kitchen. So I love that. I want to
get involved with any type of design. We're here and
ready to work with you, all.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Right, And before you go, as sisters, you spent your
lives together, of course, rowed together a lot. What is
the most recent argument that you could share or do
you ever get sick of each other?

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Oh? God, we had one this morning. Oh my gosh,
we did. I was like, when did we argue last?
I forgot about that.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
It was this morning.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
But what was it about? Hold on, I have to think,
what did we argue about this morning?

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Oh about you thought I was being rude when you
were trying to explain.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
To me what Oh yeah, you interrupted me.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yes, we were talking about one of our big, big
projects we have right now, and the difference between the
architectural drawings and the engineer drawings, and I thought she
was telling trying to explain to me what an engineer
drawing was. So I was saying, well, I know that is,
I know what that is.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
And then I'm like.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Me, yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
No, he said, you know what, time out, We'll talk later.
Stuff normal sister stuff.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
I love that though, because you can quickly regroup.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
And big shout out to you, Lindsay for sharing your
journey with your autoimmune because I know that opened a
lot of eyes for many people that also have been
battling with health issues.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
So thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Well, thank you both

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Thank you, looking for you, meeting everybody in two days,
