Speaker 1 (00:00):
G you want I five, It's the Erica Show, My
buddy TRENTP from My Carolina CBS seventeen in studio check
them out weekdays nine am. We're talking about the research
that was just released showing that parents these days are
financially supporting their kids further and further into adulthood, like
paying for their cars, rent, even groceries, cell phone bills.
Should there be like a cutoff for when parents stop

(00:22):
paying for their kids their bills, their day to day
expenses nine one nine eight sixe one oh five to one.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
But Trent, what do you think?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
I went to Dave Ramsey recently, a DPAK and I
have some life lessons to glean from money. That was incredible,
and I love Johndalone deeply, but I mean, come on
the cutoff. If you're lucky enough to get your parents
to maybe pay for your college tuition, maybe.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
That twenty two year old, when you get your first job,
it's over.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Get your all your bills paid by yourself with your
first real paying job.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
I mean, some kids are and I don't mean to
say some kids because we're still kids too, but they're like, hey,
it's cheaper if you're on the family plan, then it
would be for individual.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Little disclosure a good along. That's one thing I get
on to some thank you mom and dad back in take.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I'm a family plan, but everything else my car pay
with my insurance. I've been doing it since twenty two.
I've had a job since I was fifteen, and they
instilled that in me. You're gonna have to pay your
own way with all.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Do you have to pay back to your parents for
the cell phone or no. It's just kind of like
part of me in the perk of a car.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
I probably should have been mo them, but I don't.
They don't have one. Yeah, they're good to be with that,
I know.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Isn't that so bad because like, oh you're saving money,
It's like, okay, well, thank you mom and dad. But
everything else, you know, really journey.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
They have great family plans. And to be honest as
a mama, I will probably help my kids for as
long as they need to for the rest of their life.
So that's just how we roll nine one nine eight
six oh one oh five to one. Research shows parents
are helping their kids financially for their day to day
expenses further and further into adulthood.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Should there be a cutoff?

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Do you?

Speaker 5 (01:50):
And I? Five?

Speaker 2 (01:51):
It's the Erica Show.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Recent research showing that parents are paying for their kids groceries, rent,
day to day expenses further and further into adulthood.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Do you think there should be a cutoff? Andrew?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Thing is?

Speaker 5 (02:03):
I mean you want your own space?

Speaker 4 (02:04):
I mean, don't. Nobody really wants to stay at home
with their parents. Come on, now, nobody wants to. I mean,
and nobody wants to live off their parents if they
don't have to. Now, if you've got the resources and
the ways to help their kids. Okay, but you know,
not every month, not every moth No, and don't call
me when your life was turned off.

Speaker 6 (02:20):
Don't do that.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Thank you for calling. Have a good day, do you?

Speaker 4 (02:24):
And five?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
It's the Eraka Show. Who's this? Where are you? Conn
is from Shelby.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
I live in Sanford, but I've picked up the terms
and I was, you know, listening to the radius. I
thought I would you guys a call.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
I will thank you. Okay, So question for you?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
How old is too old for your parents to pay
for your bills like your cell phone or maybe car insurance?

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Never too old, man, if your family can help you
by all means, what do.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Your parents pay for you?

Speaker 5 (02:51):
No, but y, I would definitely say yes.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
So how old are you one?

Speaker 5 (03:00):
I have a five year old? And by all means
in the future, I mean I don't want to condone
bad behavior or anything by all means, but there's a
lot of times in my life where it would be
helpful if somebody helped me out financially and I had
to do on my own. So, you know what, I
support people that uh have that.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Some people said they've got the old school mentality where
it's like eighteen, you're on your own. Some people are like,
it just depends on the circumstances, and then others. I've
had people calling in here They're like, Oh, I'm a
grown a adult, like fifty years old. My parents still
pay for my cell phone.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
So what do you think? Texas nine one nine eight
six oh one oh five one? And how old? What's
your five year old's name?

Speaker 5 (03:38):
His name is Romeo?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
All right, shout out to Romeo.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
All right, you take care, you have a good day.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Thank you, thank you for listening. Do you want to five?
It's thee Erica Show. We were talking about earlier.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Should there be an age cut off when you stop
paying for your adult kids, stop paying their bills because
research shows that you know, parents are paying for their
kids further into adulthood than they used to. Sarah's on
the phone, and you actually pay for your parents now.

Speaker 6 (04:02):
Send here thinking about it. I admit I was thirty
four before I was like, hey, Mom, you want to
get on my bill? And she was like, yeah, I've
been kind of thinking about upgrading my phone blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
And I was like, Mom, just.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Come get on our bill. And so, I mean, I'm
thirty five. It's only been a year, but it's it's
one of those moments where you're like, no, girl, now
I pay for that bill.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
I love that though.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
It's such a turning point where you're like, no, I
got the bill when it comes to dinner or whatever,
because it used to be like they would always pay
for it, and now I'm like, I got it, don't
worry about it.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
And it does.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
It feels so good to be like no, Like, can
I tell you what to do for a minute. This
is me, this is my money, and I'm telling you
that I got this for you. I love you. I
love that in my mid thirties, but it finally happened.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I love that. Well, that's so cool. Thank you very
much for listening. Where you calling from.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
I'm Danville And that lady called y'all earlier and she
was like, I've been listening for years. I've been listening
since I was fourteen. I'm thirty five.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Okay, so we grew up together.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
We're legal.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
That's all. Well, thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
You're welcome. I'm also praying for your mama. I hope
everything goes well.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (05:06):

very much.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
