(00:09):
Welcome in. This is the Heartof Pittsburgh podcast. I'm your host,
Johnny Heartwell, and of course it'sit's the holiday season, the season of
giving, so we're gonna be talkingabout the Heat the Bird campaign. We
have old friend Chris Belconfine from StandardAir. Good morning, sir, good
to hear, good to see youagain. How are you good, Johnny?
Good morning? And you brought aguest I did? Who'd you bring?
I brought Jessica Ristano from Ristano Heatingand Cooling. Well, happy holidays,
(00:32):
just Jessica, how are you?Thank you good? How are you
doing today? I'm doing fantastic.I mean, it's the holiday season.
Doo doo. I get get thoseearworms in the in the head. In
fact, we're gonna get to getyour request here in just a second.
But all right, this is theseason where we're talking about Heat the Bird
campaign. You're with the Standard Airand of course you guys have kind of
(00:53):
introduced this campaign each and every year. This is what your third year for
doing. This is the third year. Yes, we're here representing the Heat
of campaign that we do with thelocal carrier factory authorized dealers doing charitable work.
This is our third year. Eachyear we set out to do a
number of furnaces for the community, and this year we have fifteen more furnaces
(01:14):
that will be installed. So,now, Jessica, your father kind of
had did he think this idea up? So it was born out of his
company. Was we wanted to getinvolved with doing more charitable work for our
community, and then we brought itto Chris because sometimes it's hard to find
the right families who we want togive our furnaces to and who are deserving.
So we teamed up with our otherCarrier Factory authorized dealers from around Pittsburgh,
(01:40):
and with Chris's help, we successfullyinstalled forty one furnaces with our fellow
Carrier Factory authorized dealers, forty furnacesinstalled here in Pittsburgh for people who need
it. Now, normally you havea registration period. That time is over
and done with. That's correct, all right, So this is the installation
stage. Yes, yes, we'rein the process of installing the furnaces.
(02:01):
Now. Now you also have theFifteen Days of Christmas, which is something
that is going on right now.Explain that. Yes, so featured on
our social media pages on Instagram andFacebook. We're spotlighting our dealers hard work
of installing the furnaces this year.So over the next few weeks, if
(02:21):
you look at our Instagram and Facebook, you'll see our dealers hard work in
the families that they've helped out thispast winter. Explain to us how long
have you guys been doing this?So we started about three years ago doing
our Heat the Berg program and wewanted to start it to help our local
community in the western Pennsylvania area. All right, Chris, give us a
little more details. Tell us exactlywhat the goal of the Heat the Bird
(02:43):
campaign is all about. Okay,Well, it's basically a charitable program that
was you know, created again amongstour carrier dealers, our local factory authorized
dealers in the area, basically toassist low income families, you know,
people that are struggling to heat theirhome. Now, you started a three
years ago, how many how manydealers did you were you dealing with?
Then? What keeps growing? Then? When we started it was twelve dealers
(03:07):
we found and now you're up tofit now we're up to fifteen dealersbulous.
Okay, So it's to benefit tolow income people who are really needed.
Somebody who's really really needs a furnace, and you guys help out a number
of people. So this year thenumber is up to fifteen, correct,
all right, so tell us alittle bit more. So basically we have
we created this website and marketed it. What we look for is people to
(03:28):
nominate somebody. You know, ifthere's a family in need, or an
elderly person or an old veteran thatmight need heat, you know, some
assistance, then they can nominate somebodyon our Heathberg dot com site. And
so when they do this, theyall come to us and we you know,
we go through all the names. This year, we had one hundred
and eighty five nominations, so youcan imagine how many people need help out
(03:52):
there. And what we try todo collectively is to find the right ones.
You know, it's not a contest. We want to find the right
people, you know, people withoutfernes, people without heat. This isn't
a contest. You know. Whatwe do is we look for the right
families, the right situations that wecould help the most, and so we
identify those and that's when we goout and assign the work to go out
(04:14):
and vet and see the jobs forthemselves, verify it and then we go
in to the installation portion of it. All right, So, Ristano,
is there any particular story that youremember. Yes, So, our first
Heat the Berg installation, This ladyshe hadn't had heat for about two years
and just going into the home, she had her robe on top of robe
(04:38):
on and she was all bundled upand you could see your breath being in
her home, and it was justreally an emotional experience for everyone. And
because it was our first installation,it was like our future of like,
this is what we need to continueto do in our community. So just
being there and bringing it back toour company and then being able to also
experience it with all of our teammembers on the Heat the Burg who had
(05:00):
similar situations was really impactful. Itis sad. That's sad as really there's
a lot of people out there thatjust don't ask for help, you know,
and that's what we're trying to find, you know. So if you
know somebody you know, nominate themfor this program. And that's the type
of work that we're trying to do. When it comes to participation now,
you can't sign up now, butin the future, you're going to do
this program again. Next year, right, that's correct, all right,
(05:23):
So tell us so if somebody whoqualifies, Yeah, well, we're going
to open up the nomination period thissummer, you know, so i'd say
to look back and or check inwith a website to nominate somebody. And
for our twenty twenty four season,we really want to help our community of
Western Pennsylvania. And as a CarrierFactory Authorized dealer, we train and we
(05:44):
are educated, and we want tocome spread our knowledge to our community members.
You know, it's really important thatthis is this is a program that
really helps Pittsburgh. So I've saidit in so many times, Pittsburgher's take
care of Pittsburgher's and that's the wholeidea of this program. Definitely, it's
nice to give back. You know. A lot of the businesses are successful
and they do a great job andthey want to give back to the community
(06:06):
and this is the perfect way thatthey could do that. All right,
So let's name some names. Whoare some of the Carrier Authorized dealers that
participated this year. Yeah, I'dlike to give a shout out to the
generosity of the Carrier dealers that didthe installations this year. They were Ristano
Heating and Cooling, Donahues Incorporated,Elk Air Conditioning, Coleman Mitchell, Demilio
(06:27):
Incorporated, Fayette Furnace, J SowerClimate Systems, Carusos Metro, Phillips,
Armstrong Comfort Solutions, Beverly Services,Mullin Refrigeration and Sheer Heating and Cooling.
And next year, as we getready for our twenty twenty four season,
if you need a furnace or youknow someone who's in serious need of a
furnace next year, please reach outat Heathburg dot com and nominate them because
(06:51):
we would like to help as manycommunity members as possible as we continue our
program. Yeah, and if you'rein need of service or installation of a
new heating or cooling system, youknow, please look to one of our
participating dealers in this program. Youcan find more information on Heathburg dot com.
Now, every one of these participantshave is actually giving a furnace to
(07:13):
somebody in need in the Pittsburgh region. That's correct, All right, I'm
assuming we're going to do that atthe Heat the Burg campaign in twenty twenty
four, right, yes, absolutely, this summer, watch out for our
link to come up, and we'rehoping for another successful season next year.
Well, a big round applause forall the Factori authorized dealers for helping out
this year. Congratulations on a successfulcampaign and looking forward to a new year.
