Speaker 1 (00:09):
And welcome in. This is Johnny Heart.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Well, this is the Heart of Pittsburgh podcast special guest
in the studio. Jim said from Trialink Contracting, good to
see you again.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
How are you doing fine, Johnny, Thanks for having me.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Jim has one of the most fascinating stories I've ever heard.
But you know, one of the big reasons is to
introduce your business, Trialink Contracting. So tell us everything we
need to know about your.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Business, Trilink Contracting. We are a roofing, sighting, gutter softa
and facial company operating out of western Pennsylvania, licensed in Pennsylvania,
West Virginia, and Ohio, so we cover the tri state area.
We are locally owned, we are family owned, and we
are a veteran owned business. And we take all three
(00:53):
of those designations very seriously. The family concept with our
place is it's the real deal. My wife participates in
the business, my son Nate is our COO, my daughter
in law Lisa runs our Ohio operation, and then of
course there's me and we have some other wonderful employees
(01:16):
who just help us with our profile and keeping our
customers up to speed and satisfying the needs of our customers.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
What makes Trilink different than maybe other contractors.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So the what of Trilink is what we talked about.
We install Ruth's, we install signing, we install gutters soft
and Facia. The who of Trylink is we are local
and we take that very seriously. So what sets us
apart is what I always preach, respond, communicate, follow up,
(01:53):
and then keep following up and follow up on follow
up and when the job's done, follow up and a
year down the road, follow up. So we are we
believe in a long standing, long term relationship with our customers.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So custom satisfaction is paramount to you, guys.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
It's absolutely paramount, and our reviews reflect that. Our BBB
rating reflects that. Google reviews and e reviews reflect the
emphasis that we place on customer satisfaction.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Now, what about the quality product. Let's start there.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So quality product. Try Link is an Owens Corning preferred contractor.
We love their product. They're a well known brand. We
quote and install fifty year shingles, which is the Owens
Corning duration. With our install comes a twenty five year
(02:51):
workmanship warranty, which is essentially unheard of in the contracting industry.
A contractor giving you a twenty five year workmanship warranty.
People are astounded to hear that, but we do that
and listen, it's a construction project. Sometimes things flashing releases,
(03:13):
there are things that take place throughout the course of
the project or afterwards we address it. It's just that simple.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
We talked about your emphasis on customer satisfaction, but the
whole emphasis of the company form from a very unique perspective.
Can we get into that a little bit?
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Oh sure, yeah. This is my favorite part of the conversation, Johnny,
is why does trial Link exist. So I was a
semi retired sixty year old man and I have a
business background, and my wife and I had purchased a
retired Catholic church and rectory in Clareton, of which we
wanted to turn the rectory into a veterans home, the
(03:56):
Cornerstone Residence, which is in existence today. Because of Trylink
and because of my wife, we did this on our
own dime for five years. We fought in court to
get the occupancy permit, all a while remodeling, then experiencing
a fire, starting all over remodeling again. And Trylink was
(04:19):
needed as a financial support for this vision that my
wife had that I aligned with and for this mission
that God has put us on.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
So finally last year you started getting residents.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Finally last year we got the occupancy permit, and within
a few months of that last fall, we got our
first resident. And if I'm not mistaken, and Joyce would
know better than I do, yeah, it's my wife. I
think we're about to welcome our tenth resident. So it's
just been a phenomenal undertaking and it's been very rewarding
(04:56):
to both of us.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
So what do you do? What kind of service do you?
How do you help these vests?
Speaker 1 (05:01):
So in the element of recovery from substance abuse, which
we're all touched by at some point or the other,
either directly or indirectly in our lives, we've discovered that
there are certain components to recovery that are essential to success,
and they are family reunification, lifting someone's moral perspective of
(05:24):
themselves up with regards to employment, with regards to how
we can support them in meetings. We have aa n
A meetings on the floor ground floor of the Cornerstone Residence.
And family reunification we found to be an extremely valuable
component to restoration because in that darkness of addiction, you
(05:50):
are going to discover that many families become just fragmented.
So that's been one of the most rewarding things is
seeing men with their kids again and their wives again
and really getting back into some pro social behavior.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
All right, So we talked about Trylink's website, which is
try Link Contracting dot com. Do you have a website
for Cornerstone as well? We do, yes, the Cornerstone Residence
dot org and all of this, all everything that he
does with his contracting business funnels into kind of a
passion project Cornerstone. We briefly talked about it just a
(06:24):
few minutes ago, kind of briefly. Keep it for people
just tuning in. Tell us what that is.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
So Cornerstone Residence is a recovery home, thirteen thousand square
foot retired Catholic rectory in Clareton, Pennsylvania that my wife
and I have converted into a recovery home for veterans.
And it is the passion. It is the driving force
behind Trylink, and Trylink is a driving force from a
(06:50):
contribution perspective behind the Cornerstone Residence. They're a great marriage.
They go hand in hand and that's the reason why
we do it. We do the corner opportunity to interact
with my veteran brothers who have come through the very
same thing that I came through. And I'm speaking to
addiction and some of the other darknesses and damages in
(07:12):
life and experiences in life that go along with that.
So I relate. My wife, Joyce is retired stay parole
agent twenty five and a half years, so she relates right.
She knows that population that I just loved, I loved.
I am so rewarded from this just when I have
(07:34):
an opportunity, when I have time to get over and
hang out with the guys or take them to a
pirate's game or something like that. So although we're helping,
and we are helping, the reward that I'm experiencing myself
personally has been just amazing.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Well, how can we help you if somebody wants to
make a donation or get to know what you do
with Cornerstone, or maybe you need volunteers, do you need employees? Well,
how can we help?
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Thank you for that question. We can use all of that, Johnny.
So if you want to donate, you can go to
the Cornerstone Residence dot org and the donate button is
there make a one time donation or an ongoing monthly donation.
We also have the Cornerstone Residence Facebook page, which has
a lot of cool posts on it that you can
visit and find out what we're really all about. Volunteer
(08:27):
same way, send us a message, send us a message
through Facebook, send us a message through our website. I
would pass out my wife's cell phone number, and she
would want me to to be honest with you, but
I'm not going to right now because I have not
asked her first.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Okay, okay, that's fair, all right. So if you need roofing,
siding gutters, go to Trilinkcontracting dot com. If you want
more information, or if you really like to make that
monthly contribution to Cornerstone Residents, go to Cornerstone Residence dot org.
That is correct, Johnny, this has been a fascinating conversation. Jim,
(09:03):
it's a pleasure. Thank you for coming in this morning.
It's been my pleasure. Thank you once again. The website
is Cornerstone Residents dot org. This has been the heart
of Pittsburgh Podcast. I've been your host, Johnny heart Well,
thank you so much for listening.
