right, so that's what he is. Tell me what is Heart Mom Jenny?
So, my son was born witha congenital heart defect, which is
why I've gotten so involved with thefoundation. He's been through he's been through
it and the research that this foundationdoes really benefits him and all the other

(00:54):
little heart warriors out there. What'syour son's name? His name is James.
We have a team find us onthe website where a team Super James
will have capes. Can you checkout the because the sign up for the
walk is Children's Heartfoundation dot org.Can you get more information on your son

I joined the Heart Walk three yearsago with Team Mila, who Leah that
you know, Jenny is a heartmom, and so I run all my
sports and games at the heart Walkand the kids come through and they can
win prizes and it's just so greatto see their enthusiasm and just for one

(01:36):
day, you know, there's noworries. They can just come in and
have fun. And yeah, comingup on the twenty thirty in the morning
time. Tell me a little bitmore about the organization. So, the
Children's Heart Foundation is specifically there tosupport research to advance the diagnosis and treatment

(01:57):
and prevention of congenital heart defects. And obviously it's close to your heart because
of your son. So how didyou get introduced to the organization? So,
my son he wasn't He had aclear diagnosis, which was pulmonary tresia.
But normally for children who only havehalf of their heart really functioning,
they go through a three series ofsurgeries to fix that. He's had two

(02:20):
of three and his last cath labactually they said you don't need the third
one, but we don't know whatwe'll do instead, and that has really
made me lean into the research becauseit's those doctors out there using the funds
that we raise by walking to benefithim and figure out what's going to best
serve him in the future. Howcommon is this. It's one in one

(02:43):
hundred children are born with a congenitalheart defect. It is the most common
heart defect or most common birth defectof any So we really need to raise
money, and so the money isused for research. And how vital is
the research the research is, Imean it's life for death. You know,
these kids they need a fighting chances. All right, So we're talking
about the walk, Dave, canyou tell us a little bit about what

(03:05):
goes on during the walk? Sure, So there's so much entertainment for the
kids, and not just the kids, but they're families and there's gonna be
face painters, there's gonna be sportsand games that I'll be running, There'll
be princesses and superheroes. And thistakes place before the actual walk, so
it just really spreads positivity and enthusiasm, and you know, so when they

(03:29):
get ready for the walk, everyone'salready feeling so, you know, so
positive so telling us a little tellus a little bit about what you do.
What is who is coach to day? Yeah, So for the past
twenty eight years, I've been runningsports programs for children, you know,
anywhere in the ages of preschool tohigh school. And it's been my life's

(03:51):
mission. So anytime that I canteam up with organizations like the Children's Heart
Foundation to help other the lives ofchildren, I'm all in. Or you
can get more information on the walkat their website Children's Heartfoundation dot org.

your son is a recipient of someof the care and some of the funding
and research that the foundation does. Can you for people who aren't familiar with
the foundation tell us a little bitmore about the organization? Well, the
foundation their basis is to advance adiagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital

(04:38):
heart defects by funding most promising researchto benefit these little kids out there.
And how how was your son benefit? How did he benefit? From the
organization. Well, the even diagnosingcongenital heart defects has grown immensely lately.
I mean even with James with pulmonaryatresia he was I was told that thirty

(05:01):
years ago, they wouldn't have evenbeen able to know he had that.
Wow. So this foundation has beenworking since nineteen ninety six to try to
find these How young was he diagnosed? I was twenty weeks pregnant. Oh
wow, so he was in uteroyep? Wow? And what was that
feeling that you know that that hasto be a shock to you? Oh?

(05:21):
Absolutely heartbreaking, Like you can't evenput into words that kind of feeling.
Because babies are perfect, you know, they're all born perfect, and
finding out that there's something wrong withthem is okay, listen, listen when
it comes to a child, itis I have children, and you know,

(05:43):
I know it's very emotional, andI'm sorry. I didn't mean to
trigger you at all. Oh no, but I but I think it's I
think it's wonderful because you arevious. How old is James now? He just
turned three in March. Oh God, bless you. You would never know.
It is amazing. A little crazyman. Oh yeah, Look I
got goosebumps because you know, thatis a fabulous story. So you know,

(06:03):
those are the kind of stories wewant to tell. And we also
want to stress how important this walkis because it raised money for research and
like you said, you found outwhile you were pregnant, and how many
just thirty years ago they wouldn't havebeen able to diagnose that. Absolutely,
and the walk is so amazing too, because it's a time to celebrate them.

(06:24):
Normally something that's sad is now lookat us. Everyone comes together and
it's so much fun to just seethese amazing kids running around. Jenny,
I'm so sorry that I didn't meanto, but I think it the emotion
is coming through the importance of thisevent. So listen, folks. If

is exactly what this walk does, doesn't it. Absolutely. In between the
songs, we are talking about thelittle kids who've you've gone through the process
and the benefit from the organization. They all wear capes. They love their
capes because they are superheroes. Andyour son is James and he wore he

(07:26):
was what what's your team's name,Super James? Yuh, he loves his
cape. So tell me how yougot the name Super James. Well,
he it was a couple months. You would not walk around the house without
a cape on. He got acape from something and he just would not
take it off. So he becameSuper James. And hert mom Jenny found
out of james condition while in uterowhen he was when you were pregnant.

(07:48):
And then Dave, you actually arethe fun guy. You add the fun
and excitement to the event. Sotell us everything we need to know about
the event. Like Jenny said,to see the kids when they come to
the all of the festivities before thewalk and the smiles and the laughter,
and this day really is about themand it's a celebration of who they are

(08:09):
in their victories that in their younglives that they've achieved. Having this you
know, congenital the heart defect, and so everything that we do is centered
around happiness for these children. Andmyself, I'll set up some inflatable sports
games and I hand out I'm bigat handing out sports cards, so I'll
give those all the kids. Andyou know, like you said, they're
running around with their capes and it'sjust you know, what can we do

(08:33):
to make this the best day inthese kids' lives? Well, the day
starts early at eight thirty with registrationceremonies. It starts at nine thirty,
