Speaker 1 (00:00):
Saturday in Hartford Trinity Stadium. We call it the Big Deal,
the Big Pickle Dylan Stadium, four o'clock kickoff. Finally, it
feels like forever because we got the last one postponed
due to weather. It supposed to be beautiful outside for
Birmingham Legion to come to Hartford and get their butch
kicked by our Hartford athletic. And I have got the one,

(00:22):
the only Anthony Siatta on the line. You know him
wearing the pink. He is playing goalie for your athletic
out there, number seventy seven on his jersey, number one
in your hearts. How are you doing, sir, Welcome to Hartford.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Man?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:38):
I gotta ask you. I just see when I watch
you and I see your roster pick like you might
be a goalie, but you're a gol d. You wear
the chains, my man, You've got like three or four chains.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Rocket.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Explain your chains. You come from Cameroon. I don't know
if this is a part of your culture there, but
explain your chains and why you're wearing them on your can't.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Now it's just part of my character. Really, I'm just
really confident. Is just I like to dress up a lot.
I'm just a free spirit, to be honest. So it's
just a thing. I like.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
What about what about seventy seven? Why are you? Is
that like a number you picked or was that just
the jersey that was in the locker room?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
No? Seventh is actually my favorite number, so double seven
makes it better, So I chose.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
That it's double the luck all right. Now. The thing
you'll notice when you see Anthony out there is you
are a tall soccer player. My friend, you are six
six some lest you at six seven? How dare they
list you at six or five for the Hartford Athletic roster?
But I'm sure you had other guys come up to
you and offer you other positions in other sports. What

(01:48):
made you fall in love with the game? But not
only the game the goalie position?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
You know. I was born in Cameroon, so that's all
we really played, and I fell in love with the
sport at a young age. So when I moved to
America and how easy it was to you know, just
be on the team and just opportunities to play soccer
like that, I just fell in love with even more.
So I like basketball, football and all that stuff. But

(02:17):
it doesn't have my heart like talking.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
So you spent so much like early career San Diego.
You're more like a West Coast transplant to the United States.
Now you've been on the East Coast for a little while,
and not only just the town but the team. How
has your experience been so far as a Hartford athletic.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
It's a culture shock. But thankfully a lot of my
teammates are from where I'm from, so I relate to
them a lot. So I'm with them a lot. But
the cold and all that, I'm still getting used to it.
It's something I have a hard time with.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I'm with you, bro, you're still not used to it, man,
And honestly, I was so glad you guys postponed last weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Like it was brutal.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Were you hoping that game?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Now?

Speaker 1 (03:05):
You have a little weird relationship with Indy eleven too,
Like get into that why you were not there and
you are here Like the beginning of this season you
may have been at Indy eleven, but then Brendan Burke
scooped you up and put you in the Green Kid
or I guess pink.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Kit for you.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
But what was that all about? And just the decision
to come to Hartford Athletic And were you happy that
that game got postponed and you didn't have to play
in that bad weather?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Happy that I got postponed? I don't know if I
was happy. I definitely definitely wasn't expecting snow waking up,
and but I definitely wanted to play the game. I
definitely want to play the game no matter what weather
it was. But I understood why the game had to
be canceled. But I did sign with Indy in the

(03:55):
beginning of the year. But I had to make a
decision on where I'm going to get the most playing
time and who's more interested in me. So Brandon convinced
me to come here. So I'm here.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Now, what is it like like? What as far as
what you're seeing on the pitch and you got the
best seat in the house, man, you're watching it from
the best angle. What do you think are some of
our strong points and what do we really need to
work on to get some points on the on the table.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Connection? We just everyone's from a different place, We all
speak different languages. Some people don't understand each other, so
we're trying to fix that. But everything is getting together.
Because every every position we have, we have players. We
have players to do it, but we just got to
figure it out. We'll show you guys this this next home.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Game Saturday in Hartford, four o'clock kickoff, Birmingham Legion against
the Hartford Athletic in Trinity Stadium. We're talking to the goalkeeper,
Anthony Ciada. Anthony, I want to ask you about penalty
kicks and just your philosophy on it. I'm you know,
I've never played the position. I have no idea what's
going on in between your ears When someone's lined up

(05:08):
in front of you that close with no defenders in front.
I feel like it's playing like rock paper scissor. Like
you got to think that they're thinking. You're thinking that
they're thinking like how does it work for you? And
what do you do as far as preparing for that?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
It is. It is a guessing game. But I'm usually
good at penalty because I don't know what happened this
Open Cup game, to be honest, but usually I just read.
I read the player from when he walks up to me.
I read his lips, I read his eyes, I read
his movements everything, and then I just make my guests

(05:46):
away he's going to go and when I make that guess,
I go over there one hundred.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Percent what Anthony's talking about. I've lost the Portland team
in the US Open Cup on p K's I'm sure
that's just like does stuff like that stick with you?
I mean, you brought it up during the interview, but like,
can you flush goals out and move on to the next.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Of course, that's that's part of the game. You gotta
have short term memory. It stays with you. But you can't.
You can't just dwell on this forever. So it happened
and nothing could nothing else got the stove. You gotta
deal with it.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
As I told you, I'm a part of this supporter section. Sir,
I think we have failed you guys the first game.
We are not as bad as that. We are so
much better than that. We are ten.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
We're it.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
We are a hundred times better than that, sir, Do
not put that game on us. As far as how
good we are on season, this Saturday we will show you.
We will have so many ridiculous drums and instruments and
did you hear our stupid songs? They're horrible, but we're
gonna see them, seeing them drunk and loud and you're.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Gonna be the I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
What thing, What thing I noticed is like when the
balls on the other side, and it's like a corner situation,
you don't hang out in your box and just like
get a drink of water. You run to like midfield
and always have a conversation with your guys. Sometimes it's
a little it's it's a one sided conversation, like you're
talking there listening. But what are some of the things
that you say to your defenders when you have the

(07:16):
time to do that.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I just try to keep them on their toes and
try to tell them what I see in the game
and to try to communicate that with the other players.
And yeah, just just organizing them. Really, that's what I is.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Have you been able to develop a chemistry with some
of these defenders.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Of course, of course with everybody. Really, I built chemistry
with everybody on the team. Honestly, all very close, all
very close. Enjoyed and despe Joe. I'm very close with
Joe said by us see him? Well, of course I
see them every day, but even outside the soccer field. Yeah,

(08:01):
well myno, Well we're all pretty close.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I noticed Joe Farrah. We had him on last week.
He also is a part of the chain crew like
he wears some pretty good gold out there.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yes, that's my twin idea, that's my twin.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Awesome to hear man. I can't wait for Saturday, Big One.
We need the points and we got to get on
the winning roller coaster. Hopefully it lasts all summer long,
and if it does, it's because of this guy tending
the goal for us, Anthony Siada. Thank you so much
for the time, sir, and we will see you on Saturday.
Good luck, my friend.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Thank you so much for having me. Thank you. Have
a good day.
