Speaker 1 (00:00):
We've got a lot planned for the rest of the show.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Kiss my bot. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening for the Rob Dibble Show. Oh right.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Back once again for another round. Eight six oh five
two two three seven seven six by two two three,
seven seven six. If you want to play the game fish.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Or horse, Fish or horse, it's a tough choice.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
A great game yesterday, and we're gonna learn.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
You're gonna learn a lots.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
You learned something on the show every day now an
easy game, I would say, because we went four for
four with our listeners, and our listeners never go four
for four. I think that was the first of the year.
First twenty twenty five perfect run eight six oh five
two two three seven seven six. Oh what can I win? Well,
we extinguished all the Billy Currington that we had yesterday.

(00:54):
We still got plenty of CT Fishing and outdoor show.
That's a family four pack that's going on a week
from tomorrow, the twenty first through the twenty third at
the beautiful convention center of the mohegan Son.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
That's amazing, by the way, it's so much amazing how
they fit so many like boats and cool things in there.
They have a ton of room and it is for
your whole family. Your wife's gonna love it, your kids
are gonna love it. And where's dad is gonna love it.
With all the toys there.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
And we have all the celebs from the CT Fishing
and Outdoor Show. Our friend ol Gag he's the lure master.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
He is he invented the lore.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I bet you we're gonna be posted up right now
Gags Lure Shop once again. So if you're going out
there that weekend or for Friday, you'll probably catch us there.
Or you get to see Crazy Alberto. You know when
there's an alligator in the sewer, you know who they
call Crazy Alberto. He can catch anything anywhere. Then Matt Weddett,
the turkey calling champ.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Of the world. He can get any animal to come
see him.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Wettish, we'll be calling for turkeys all day out there.
Came out there so you can win a family four pack.
The CT Fishing an Outdoor Show coming up in two
weekends from now twenty first to the twenty third, oh
same weekend here in Hartford. This is a popular event
that Dibbs and Is will also be at. We'll be
there Saturday Saturday Saturday for the Connecticut Golf Show. We've

(02:21):
got a pair of tickets to the Connecticut Golf Show
for you, just like the CT Fishing and Outdoor Show,
the latest, greatest, the best place to get deals, to
learn so much about the new things that are happening
in the world of golf. We love our friend Dick Stevens,
who will be running around all weekend. He always hooks
it up. Man. This guy just walks around with great

(02:43):
golf packages in his pocket and just passes him out
to the people. You may come for the Golf show stuff.
You may leave with a four day vacation to some
Caribbean island to play golf for three days. It's magical
over there.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Well, and here's the thing too. Ben touched on this
yesterday that whether you're going to the boat show, the
outdoor show, or the golf show, you're gonna get a
lot of discounts on all of the stuff there. And
meaning like, okay, so some of those range finders that
you see might be five hundred dollars at a sporting
good store, you're gonna get it for a significant price reduction.
All the other stuff, all the equipment, they're gonna you

(03:19):
know they've got all the people there to set you
up and fit you with the right golf clubs and
the right stuff. So all of this stuff is absolutely amazing.
I wanted to give you some numbers here. In twenty
twenty three, a record five hundred and thirty one million
rounds were played, one million more golfers. That's a twenty

(03:39):
six point six million increase in twenty twenty three. So
golf is one of the quickest growing sports since COVID.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
So if you want to be cool like all your friends,
you've better learn how to play man, and this is
the best place to get started. Mike dib said, so
many discounts. I know our guys at Chris Cody's will
most likely be they there every year. I know I'm
not out of turn for saying, but they have some
of the lowest prices they'll ever have at the Connecticut
Golf Show. So pairs of tickets to the Connecticut Golf
Show or a four pack of tickets to the Connecticut

(04:10):
Fishing and Outdoor Show, got a couple more numbers for
you real quick.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Juniors, there's a forty percent increase in the number of
juniors golfing. Now women there's a twenty three percent increase
since twenty eighteen. Ethnic minorities Asian, Black, Hispanic golfers has
jumped forty three percent since COVID. So yes, golf is
one of the most popular sports going. Dibbs has got

(04:34):
a name for yous.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
You simply tell us whether he is talking about a
fish found in the lakes of Connecticut or is this
a horse from the Kentucky Derby contender list Top one hundred. Yes.
I look at the top one hundred Kentucky Derby list
in the middle of oar.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Got his sheet ready.

Speaker 3 (04:56):

Speaker 3 (05:20):

for you, Dan. You simply tell us, is that a
kind of fish found in the great state of Connecticut?
Or is that a horse that Ben Darnell has been
checking out as a Kentucky Derby contender to win it
in May. Are you ready, Dan? Yes?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Sure? Dan? Is this a fish or a horse? Stickleback? Stickleback?
Is that fish or a horse? Fish?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah? Who's that?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Is that your fish or horse? Expert? Y? Yes, you
are right?

Speaker 3 (05:57):
How do you do you know stickleback? You sounded very
confident in that.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Dan, No, I was just guessing fish off the wrist.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
So alright.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I love that you're honest.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Do you want to go to the golf show or
the fishing an outdoor show? Fishing show? Excellent? Stay on hold, Dan, Kurt,
we'll get some info from you.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yes, you will be there.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
A stickleback is a fish in Connecticut. Also sounds like
a good nickelback cover band stickle back stickleback eight six
soh fy two two three seven seven six fy two
two three seven seven six Kurt, you're ready with another one? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:29):

Speaker 3 (06:30):

Speaker 1 (06:35):
How's it going?

Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's going good? How are you spending the week? You
got basketball in your system? Yet you got like a
plan for the weekend.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I'm working on it.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Excellent. I love to hear it. I love to hear it.
All right, Let's hook up Carol with some tickets. Carol
fish or horse Dibbson has got a name? Tell Us,
is this a fish in Connecticut? Or is this a
Kentucky Derby contender? Are you ready, Carol? I am ready, all.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Right, Carol. Fish or horse? American soul? American soul that
sounds like a horse, I'm sorry, sounds.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yes, it is a fish, Believe it or not. This
fish looks like the.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Soul of a boot like but blay a soul.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Its eyes are on the top of its head like
it's a flat plankting like fish. That just it looks
like it's a footprint and it's it's this creepiest looking fish.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
And it is one of the craziest looking fishes on
the planet. I think I would call NASA if I
caught one. And we used to catch them right off
the dock. We used to go to Kenny Bunkport, Maine,
when American souls and American souls were right there.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
We're not eating these, are we?

Speaker 2 (07:46):
God? No, I know some people love them, but I
already told you I'm not a fish guy. But you
talk about creepy. It looked like a scary mask that swam. Yes,
it's got two eyeballs on one half of the body.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Do you know about this fish a little bit? Really?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yeah, vague remembrances of seeing them.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
They call him something else to name? And where do they?
I think it's called porgy?

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Where are we hanging? Where do American souls hang out?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Everywhere?

Speaker 3 (08:12):
In the banks, underneath the bottom beaters. I know they're
in the muck, aren't they? You're eating like mystic they
hang out and mystic huh.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
But like the lake area, I don't believe.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
It was like a whole fish bar there.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I was wondering a bunch of American souls.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
The trout walks in. Couldn't see you get two eyes
inside of your.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
American sol All right, Greg, Hey, Greg, how you doing?
We're doing great. Let's get some tickets to Greg this time?
All right, Greg Dibb's got a name? You tell us?
Is this a fish in Connecticut? Or is this a
Kentucky Derby contender? Are you ready? Greg? Yes? Sir?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Greg Bullard? Bullard? Is that a fish or a horse?

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Right? Job? Greg? Greg?

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Buller covering right around forty eight forty nine. It's got
some work to do in the next couple of weeks.
Get the Kentucky Derby. What would you like, Greg? You
want to go to the fish show or the golf show?

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Golf show? Please?

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Excellent? Stay on hold, Greg, Kurt gets some info from
you the Connecticut Golf Show.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Like figuring out our listeners though too where they want
to go? Yeah, he tells me a lot in the
fishing equipment, or you want to go to the golf stuff? Right?

Speaker 3 (09:30):
I feel like Dan is wearing flannel, and Greg from
time to time has a collar on a shirt.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Absolutely, maybe even a cigar here and there, definitely, Definitely.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
I feel like Dan is cool with drinking some Old
Milwaukee's Best every now and then. Greg won't touch it.
You think way you think?

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Perhaps?

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Okay, I've done both a lot, and I don't want
that old right.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
I don't want to discrewe I don't want to discribe.
I bet you Greg drinks.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Remember those old commercials though they are always a fishing boat. Yeah,
old old Milwaukee's Bash. Really I wants Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I would rather have New Milwaukee's Best, all right, Kurty.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Who's Doug?

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Doug? Thanks for holding Doug. Hey, guys, that's going going great,
going great. Let's get Doug some tickets here, all right,
Doug Dibbson has got a name? You tell us? Is
that a fish in Connecticut or a Kentucky Derby contender?
Are you ready, Doug?

Speaker 2 (10:25):
All ready? Let's go all right, Doug? Ale wife? Ale wife?
Is that a fish or a horse? I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
I've heard of that with a fish.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
What I heard of that? I did not grow up here,
so I did not fish these waters. Tell me what
you know about ale wife, Doug, I could.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Have sworn I've seen it on some of those signs.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Like when you go to the shoreline.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
It tells you, like what's out there in the water?

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Familiar? First, Well, you separated the word. It's not it's
one word.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
I know, ale wife, but I wanted ale wife because
that sounds more like a horse. You know, if you
just say alewife, nobody names their horse.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
What is it? What's an traumis species sexless?

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:10):
It does?

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Has no sex like damn kurk, like Kurt. It's like, sorry, Doug,
what would you like golfer fish?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Let me let me go for the fish shop.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
All right, stay on hold. You're gonna love it, man,
especially if you're an outdoors dude or female. Like, this
is the place to get started, to get better and
to get to be the best. I love the CT
fishing and outdoors.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
There's an Alewife Brook Reservation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, really a
wildlife area and bird watching and hiking.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yeah, bird watching is watch the birds eat all those
ale wife. Yeah, no, kidd, this is this is a
little like shiner.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
This is like something.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
This is like a bait fish. I'm impressed with the fish.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Knowledge of the rob double show listening aude impressed.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
I thought I never heard of all.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
They're a lot to do here, might as well fish.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
I think there's a lot of slang for these. I
think you're given the actual name I am. You know,
I've heard like sunfish. Like I said, like a poor.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Ale wife I called my drunk divorce.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah, my wife used to hang out at a pub.
I called her alewife.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
American souls. We call those the alien looking things slang
for your name. All right, Curry, I'm sorry, who's the
last week? We got room for one more? Well, all right,
room for one more? Call her? Who is this? All right?
You're lucky Carrol, this has got to be a winner
this time. I never heard of an American I'm with.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
You, I'm with you, I'm with you too. That's the
phial soul. Dumb name, I think that's what.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
And I know you know I'm dumb fishing, and I've
seen all the signs and never have I heard or
seen American soul.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
You know.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
I don't want to apologize.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
I don't want all right, let's see if you get
this one, Carol, maybe you'll learn something and maybe you won't.
Won't see, all right's got another name for you. I
don't see if you can see if this is a
fish or a horse.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Carol, burning glory, Burning glory? Is this a horse or
a fish?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
I'm really hoping it's a horse. Yeah, all right, Carol,
what would you like? Golfer?

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Fish? Fish?

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Although I don't know that much.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
About hey, you can learn all about it when you
go to the CET Fishing an outdoor show. Stay on hold, Carol,
let Kirk get all this information from me. Great job, everybody.
Everybody's basically a winner. Even though Carol lost the first
time around on the second pack, you've won the second time.
To get back on the fall line. Squick, she's five
hundred for the day. Here you go, keep it up,
keep it up and listen. The boat show. Don't get

(13:56):
us wrong. There's all kinds of like trips you can
go on. There's all kinds.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
There's so much more than just like fishing and boating.
It's an outdoor show. This is about hike. There's hiking,
there's all kinds of it'll blow your mind. There's It
takes us forever to go around the place just in
one day and check out all the cool stuff.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
I'm in the market for a new taser.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
New taser. You've tasing people around town?

Speaker 3 (14:18):
No, but you know we got to have protection. Man.
We're just talking about this. We're talking about this with
Johna walking around selling Hi water.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
By my wife a taser, dude.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yep, they got cool pink ones, they got dazzled tasers,
they got tasers for Jona's out there. I'm a knife guy.
I was just going to bring this stuff. I'm in
the market for a new knife. I lose I don't
think you lose them. Well, they take them. You're not
getting on the plane with that one. I've left, man,

(14:48):
my backpack. God bless the people at the Excel Center
who have taken care of my knife a couple of
times for me, and God bless the people around the
Excel Center who don't find my hidden knife, you know,
and then.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
On the down low and gave away.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
But they have the coolest knives, man, that they're there.
We I always like.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Running because you like you got You have so many
like people who hand craft things, And I love that
even more because it tells its own story, why you
made this out of this or made that out of that,
And they just make the coolest stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Last year was it last year? It may have been
two years ago. I brought al gags my grandfather's fish
and rock.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Yes, you did.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
The community so olgags like, man, I don't know this
could be anything. Let me go, hey, look, Cheryl, take
a look.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
At this algags. The rabbit hole he goes down is
a lot different than the rabbit hole the other people there.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Yes, he's very thorough in everything that he does, and
all these people are. But the team of people that
were around that fishing pole to figure it out and
where it was from, what year it was. Within fifteen
minutes we had found out that it was from the
nineteen thirties the real and it was fashioned to an

(16:13):
antenna taken from a military jeep as the rod.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Like your grandpa had done a few things, yes, in
the eyeholes for to string the line through, welded on
by hand.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Which my grandfather was a pipe fitter welder. So it
was mind blowing. But the mind blowing thing was how
many people rushed to figure this out, like this is
the mystery that vendor this pole guy. They're the coolest people.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
It's like, I'll tell you what though, even as big
as we talk about, it's a family. Yes, these people
all know each other. They all they I mean, we'd
be talking to one fisherman or whatever and all of
his buddies are coming over. They're all like they're they're
all friends, they all know what they're doing and stuff
like that. It seems like it would be a vast community,
but it's not. It's a really tight knit group community.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
With both of these shows, cause we're going to be
at the CT fishing Fridows right and the golf show
on Saturday. And the one thing I always think is like, man,
what do you want to do in this realm? Like
fishing an outdoor? What have you ever dreamed of doing
in fishing and outdoor You can say your dreams out
loud and those people will figure out how to make

(17:20):
it a reality. And this golf shows the same, like, oh,
I've always dreamt to go to Myrtle Beach with three
of my buddies on a golf trip. I'll give you
twenty options before you leave here in an hour.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
No, but again, some of the people that I know
from around the country, like I talk to Norm Charlton
today and you know he does all kinds of trips
and stuff love this. You walk in here at Mohegan
and they can get you from Connecticut to an Alaskan
salmon trip, you know, if you want to go fishing
up there or Oregon or so.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
I mean, it's just it's not it's not as small
as you might think. These people they think big. They
always think of outdoor stuff. What do you want to do?
I want to be like, you know, fishing on a lake.
I'm retired. We've got this motorized kayak and we could
set you up with all this stuff. And they're not
trying to take all your money. So they want to
make your dream a reality. And so they're gonna make
your money and then you can be like me, I

(18:10):
want a fishing boat, but also I don't really love
fishing that much, So you know, the kids might want
to be on the back on a on a whatever,
an inner tube. Oh okay, we've got that too. I mean,
that's that's the thing I dig about these shows. They're
not just it's not just one like category of stuff.
It's fifty thousand different things that they're thinking about.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Like some of the stuff I've.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
Seen there, I couldn't even imagine dreaming that up. Yet
it's been dreamed up there.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
The one thing I always take away too, and this
will happen next week. Everybody will offer for us to
go fishing or go hunting somewhere.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I wish at the time.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
I know. That's what we say every time when we're
at the golf show. We will get offered and to
go golfing everywhere, And yeah, you know they want Obviously
we're big superstars and everybody wants to hang out with us.
But anybody that says, like, hey, man, I've always loved
to go fly fishing, and you're talking to a fly
fishing guy, most likely someone around that guy or that

(19:07):
guy will say, you know what, man, I've got the
best spot if you want to go, like two weekends
from now, I'm taking a bunch of people and you
just go for free and just hang out with that.
Stuff happens at these conventions every single year, and I
love it. People like you said, it's a community, it's
a family, it's very educational. Both of these are going
to have seminars for people talking in the middle, Like

(19:28):
you'd say.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Seminars are the best part. Yeah, they are, because if
you're dumbass like me, you don't know how to do
half this stuff. Usually, you know, even a chainsaw, I'd
cut my leg off, you know. I mean, I need
these people to hold my hand.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
I love the golf ones where we're like watching them
during the show and then we're like mimicking that. Man,
Why haven't I been doing that? Damn? And we do
we do learn things, man,
