Speaker 1 (00:03):
What a day out here. We're having fun. Man, Sorry,
four thirty, we're halfway.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I know, we're ready for our next guest, mister Jeff
Sun Wine and Food Fest. We were hanging out with
Chef Plum and his guys. Man, all these chefs like that.
It's such a family reunion when they come through. Jeff
like it's a it's I think sometimes it's more for
them than.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
It is.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
The sun right, so I think, you know, just seeing
the interaction it is, it's like something that the chefs
come to every single year. I didn't do a good
job because I didn't bring a chef with the food
that seemed to you guys over I didn't should if
I knew in advance, my pr guy Aaron should have
told me we need to bring some food.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
That's true enough. So we do stuff for Jordan's restaurant.
They kill us down here. So but mohe Get is
just the greatest place.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
To come and I love and I love Jordan's. So
we have so many great partners here and really really excited.
Really all of our partners participate. We got some new
partners coming, you know, coming up. Beauty and Essex will
preview that. Uh you know this on Saturday with our
Beauty in Essex event.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Uh, Sift Bake Shop.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Up, Carlos, don't be upset, wait till you take say
all right, Carlos, you know from a big good perspective,
you know, Carlos has the you know, obviously a TV
show in these world famous Yeah, cake boss. But when
you when you go to Sift bike Shop and you
take taste what we're gonna put in there, it's it's
another level. And I and I, you know, I say
they'll be here in April, but Adam will be here
(01:33):
all weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
So I would say, grab grab a pastry if you're here.
We're huge Jordan fans.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
We go there a lot of this steakhouse, but this
tow has been taken over this joint.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Man, can you get a reservation these days to that this.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Weekend you probably can't, but on a on a midweek
day you definitely can get a reservation. Uh, you know,
really has become a destination, you know, for for us
here at Mohegan Beauty and Essex is actually a tow brand,
you know, so they that's another one of the the
Tao concepts.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
They're in New York in Vegas. So really excited about that.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
But you know, I think one of our strategic initiatives
has been bring world class dining that's experiential. That is
a reason that people come to Mohegan Sun. Fifteen years ago,
it used to be you add restaurants in their amenities.
There's gamblers here and they get to go to the restaurants, right,
And I think nowadays, I think we were thinking about
food and beverage throughout the property. It's like, we want
to put great restaurants in that people want to go
(02:24):
to tao and it just happens to be at Mohegan Sun.
And I think Tow's a great representation of that. Michael
Jordan's again another great representation of that. And I think
some of the new outlets we're going to put in
are going to be tremendous as well.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Talking to Jeff from Ohegan Sun and obviously some wine
and food fests getting bigger. Four days now, No, I
mean I remember about eighty nine years ago it was
probably two days on the weekend and stuff like that.
But still you're selling out everything pretty much, and so
how many people you feel are going to come through
here in the four days?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah, we'll have over five thousand people that will come
through over the course of the of the four days.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
So many great events, some new events.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
You know, have a Grand New Asian Tasting event, you know,
one of the events that we started last year, but
this year it's on Friday.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
We're really excited about it. It's the ice bar, right,
you get.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
The fluffy jacket, you get to go outside.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
You get a fur coat and go outside and you
get to partake.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
What's better than that tomorrow out of you know, what
we do on Friday nights is really is really great
as well.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
We have a Grand Tasting preview on Friday night.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
What is the what's the clay Pipe and Cigar Bar.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, so that you know we're gonna it's an intimate
event in clay pipe from a cigar bar perspective, and
we have a bunch of alcohol that's going to coincide
with the cigar that you're smoking. We did that last year,
I think, you know, from a from a sellout perspective,
it's one of our events.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
It sells out very very first. What I was saying, the.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Grand Tasting preview, Yeah, so so you know the Grand
Tasting on Saturday, it's loads of people.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
It's probably it's our biggest event.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
But on Friday night, you could pay a little bit
less and you get to go to the same event,
but a little less people. You get to get to
more tables, right, enjoy more or enjoy more wine. And
a lot of people don't know about that. You know,
maybe you don't want to go on Saturday when there's
thousands and thousands of people and there's a lot of energy.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
You want a little bit, a little bit more calm.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
So the grand tasting, previews, great celebrity chef dining around
is really our best event outside of wine Fest, you know,
I think it's our best event in any anything that
we do.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So again, we're really really.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Excited for this year and appreciate all your guys' support.
And you know, as I'm thinking here at Sports Station,
it used to be that wine Fest was the weekend,
the bye week, the weekend.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
So you didn't have football, right, but now you have football.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
But I almost think it's a little bit better because
Winefest is over by the time the games kick off,
so you can bring your girlfriend or your wife to Winefest.
You can have a great time, you can have a
great Saturday enjoy yourself. Maybe you wake up a little
bit hungover, but plenty of time for the games. Your
girlfriend or your wife or whomever you came with is happy.
They leave you alone because they got to go to
a great event and you get to you get, you know,
two great games six hours or great football. We get
(04:55):
to get to see who goes to the super Bowl.
So maybe it's better placed, you know, being on Champions Weekend.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Totally nailed totally nailed it all right.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Speaking of football, we ask everybody, I don't care what
your walk of life is. Philadelphia's playing Washington, we got
Kansas City, Buffalo, both gonna be great games.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
But what do you say, sir, where you're leaning? Jeff,
it's terrible for me. I'm a Giants fan, so you know, Philidelphia, don't.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
We don't want any I.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Know, every week it's just like a slap in the face.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
You know you're gonna slap in the face every game.
So definitely commanders that no one's rooting for the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
And then I always refer team. I always refer a
team that hasn't won. So Bills have never won. So
if there's I wanted the Lions, if you're a team
that's never won, then I'll root for you, and I
like hockey. You not like Josh Allen. If you're a
sports fan, I mean the way that Josh Allen plays,
how he leaves it all out there, just an ultimate
leader and gamer, always steps up in a in a
big spot. So as a sports fan, I'm marvel at that.
(05:52):
And hopefully the Bills can take down the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
They're probably gonna be some Bills mafia in the house
this weekend. You're probably gonna hear some e A G
L s Yes, Eagles. You're probably going to see every
walk of football fan that goes to the Mohegan Stunt
Food Fast as well.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
And you guys really hook up the people that show up.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Not only with the food and the wine that you're
obviously coming here for, but the experiences that they have
with some of these celebrities chefs, and just being able
to mingle with some people that they may have seen
on TV and learn something that they can bring back
to their kitchen and use for their families.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
I know no one really talks about the education aspect
of this. Get the great taste some great wines, why
go wash them?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Great?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Watch them great U dining uh chefs you know, doing
their their uh uh they're cooking. But then you also
get the education aspect of it. And I think that's
something that a lot of people don't value, you know,
when they come here and then maybe they leave with
a great recipe that they can do for Super Bowl
Sunday or they can do for their summer barbecue, and
then you know, their friends or family, whoever's enjoying that.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
And where did you get this from? You know?
Speaker 3 (06:54):
And and I think we all when we think about
our kitchen and providing great food to the to the
people that like to you know, throw parties. If you
can have a recipe that was designed for one of
these chefs and you can deliver something unbelievable, creates that
emotional response and you're you know, you'll be remembered for that.
And that's something that you can get here because you're
really able to interact talk to the chefs. It's not
a situation where they're on a TV or they're far
(07:15):
far away.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
You get to stand right next to him.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
You get to ask them questions, how should I do
this or what's better, you know, a better way to
cook a burger? How should I cook my steak or
what's better from a sauce perspective. So that's a great
attribute to the Sun Food and Winefest that that you know,
really goes untold. We don't talk a lot about that,
but you're right, that's something that I think everyone that
comes here can experience and then you could take something
home with you. It's like a parting gift that you
(07:37):
can celebrate with your friends and family.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
Well said chef. I mean, we come down here, we
do the the outdoors shows that are down here, we
do the whiskey fest that's down here, and everything is
about education. Everything is about teaching these people, you know,
how to better themselves whatever they're doing. And that's why,
like even this guy wants to be a salmonier. We
just met Chef Plumb and he just became one, you know,
(08:00):
so besides being a show, I know, he's so biz.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
We're gonna wear that all we are you wearing that
all weekend, probably just today.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Taste wine and stuff like that with that mustache.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
You have to you have to come with like a
line or two, right, you have to like a marquee line,
talk about a wine, say something in French, throw that on.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
I've been working on Jeff, I've been working on it,
working out. We'll see how it goes on the weekend.
But I love this event. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Mohegan
Sun's West.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
You still have some rooms available?
Speaker 1 (08:34):
What can we still go there?
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Probably much There probably is a few rooms available, but
they're gonna be on affordable at this point, right, So
the rooms that are like, you know, when you get
to the end of the inventory, it's tough. But if
you're willing to pay a premium, you probably could still
get a few rooms available if you go online.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
And we'll have some cancelations tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Keep on checking the website, stop at the front desk,
but you're gonna be looking at a really really high
room rate. What I always tell people, there's no rooms
available here. Some great local hotel partners that have available
so you don't have to drive far. You can uber,
you know, back and forth Toogan. We don't want anyone
driving intoxicated. That's a great that's a great outlet. There's
a lot of local hotels and then you take an
uber or lyft able to get the right to the
(09:12):
property and really just excited to see the chaos of
people that are.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Coming for some food and want fast.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
It is chaotic, but there's a control to it, man
like there's a map, there's a schedule, like there's things
that are happening. But then when you get onto the floor,
it's like somewhat of a free for all, just trying
to get a spot maybe at a bar or a
spot watching a demonstration. But it's it's so much fun
here because of the chaos.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I think.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
I think we all love to be around people that
enjoy the same things as up. That's why we love
going to sporting events. We love to be in the stadium.
We'd love to be around other fans. And I think
when you enjoy winding, you enjoy enjoy food, and you
could be around a bunch of people that love to
do the same thing. Being around when we say chaos,
but being around a lot of people that are doing
the same things as you, it makes it special.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
It makes an event.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
You know, you can make a friend, you can talk
to someone that you haven't met, you can really enjoy
yourself because you're just around it by people that really
are enjoying the same thing as you. And I think
that's what makes Sun Food and Wine Fest Special. It's
all the things you talked about, it's all the events.
But for many of the chefs and for many of
the people that have come, they've come to everyone. They
come every year. They come with their friends, their family,
they come with you know, their you know people that
they that they only see once a year at Sun
(10:16):
Food and Wine Fest.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
And whether it's someone.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
That's been here for twenty years or this is your
first year, we're hoping that you'll enjoy it, and we
hope you come back every year. And I always say
to our team members, this is an opportunity for us
to create a great experience for someone that comes to
the Mohegan Sun and maybe they come back. Maybe they're
gonna come to the Whiskey Fest, or they're going to
come to one of our festivals, or they'll go see
a great show in our arena. Because we really pride
ourselves in really creating, you know, these great experiences for
(10:41):
all the people that come here. Sun Food and Wine
Fest our biggest event, but we hope people will come
throughout the year, not just for for this weekend.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Jeff, you nail that man home run. We appreciate you
having us out here.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Thank you guys for all your support. We really I
love you guys. Always post up here too. I love
that you guys are always in the same the same location.
Have a great weekend, enjoy yourselves, and we're gonna go.
Comemanders right your command, command and go Bill, Go Bill.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Thank you guys, Thank you. Jeff.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
All right, well, take quick break, we'll come back. We'll
do dibbles and bits next
