Speaker 4 (00:39):
Hello everyone, and welcome to Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey. My
name is Zaxie Laffin. It's great to be with you
this afternoon. As the number one Wisconsin Badgers gets set
to contend with the number four Minnesota Golden Gophers in
the finals of the WCCHA postseason tournament, the Badgers have
traveled to the city on the shores of the big
lake they call Getchi Goomi, with the Loose playing host
to this year's WCCHA final face off. The Badgers were
(01:01):
able to knock off the hosting dloof Bulldogs last night.
Let's recap that game. The Bulldogs came out ready to
defend their home turf and were able to get the
first goal of the game, with Gray Sedora sneaking one
under Ava McNaughton's right padge just two minutes and fifty
six seconds into the first period, giving to Luth the
one to zero lead. The Badgers struck back later in
the first with Landy Potter, who's been out the past
couple of weeks with an injury, feeding the puck in
(01:22):
front of the net, where Kelly Gorbtenco tipped it past
WCCHA goaltender of the year ev Gascon to bring the
Badger's level one to one. Despite out shooting the Bulldogs
sixteen to three in the first period, that's all the
scoring Wisconsin could do, and they went into the intermission tied.
In the second period, shots on goal were closer together,
but Wisconsin still held the edge fourteen to nine. Late
in the period, Leila Edwards brought the puck in and
(01:43):
found WCCHA player and forward of the Year Case O'Brien,
who circled the ice before finding WCCHA defender of the
Year Carolyn Harvey from the right in the slot, Harvey
let go of a blazing shot, beating Gascon and breaking
the stalemate as the Badgers gained a two to one lead.
While that goal tied Carolyn Harvey for the most most
points in a career by a UW defender with Sis Paulson,
who set the mark at one hundred and thirty, the
(02:05):
third period would see her break the record entirely. Shots
on goal were even closer in the final frame, with
Wisconsin holding the slight advantage at twelve to eleven. Near
the end of regulation, as the Badgers were on the attack,
Harvey found her freshman d partner Emma Venusio open at
the blue line. Bedusio crossed down to the left wall,
then rifled a shot in, putting it between the pad
and the catching mid of Ev Gascone and into the
(02:26):
back of the net, scoring her first ever collegiate goal.
That assist was Harvey's one hundred and thirty first point,
putting her in sole possession of the record for points
by a defenseman in a UW career, and the Badgers
moved on to today's championship game thanks to their three
to one victory against the Bulldogs. Today's game is the
classic border battle between Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Badgers and
(02:46):
the Gophers always bring a little bit extra when they
play one another, and with the WHA championship on the line,
you can bet that both teams will be ready to play.
The Badgers are healthy with everyone available, and they'll need
everyone's services from the top of the roster to the
bottom in order to earn a victory today and an
eleventh WCCHA Postseason championship in school history. Minnesota, for their part,
(03:06):
is likely feeling a little bit snubbed. Has a lot
of the talk coming into this weekend seemed to take
it for granted that Ohio State would beat them in
the semifinals. The Gophers instead handily defeated the Buckeyes six
to two and will bring a chip on their shoulder
with them into Amsoil Arena tonight as they take on
their biggest rival in Wisconsin. It's Badgers Gophers for the
WCCHA postseason title. We'll have an interview with WCCHA Coach
(03:27):
of the Year Mark Johnson and more on the pregame show.
Stay tuned to Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey here on AM
ten seventy. The game presented by Goodman's the Diamond Store
of Madison.
Speaker 5 (03:36):

Speaker 1 (04:37):
This is ten to seventy the game.
Speaker 9 (04:46):
Back in the pregame show, Paul Brown along with Mark Johnson,
the coach of the Badgers. So we're playing for the
WCCHA Final five championship here in Duluth. Mark, you talked
on the pregame show and also during the week about
getting opportunities, and it looks like you got some last
night in that game.
Speaker 10 (05:06):
Yeah, I mean we played well.
Speaker 11 (05:07):
I didn't, you know, anticipate us getting that many shots,
just with the loose structures their defense and you know
how well they're playing their own end.
Speaker 10 (05:14):
But I was pleased with the way we play overall.
Speaker 11 (05:17):
I mean there's going to be bumps and things that
you want to get back, but that's all part of
the game we play. And you know, the last three
times we've played them, unfortunately got behind a goal and
especially early in the game, but you know, we responded well.
You know, KK scores a big goal in the second
period and then you know we did enough to things
that we needed to do.
Speaker 10 (05:36):
In the third period to get the victory. So very
proud of our effort.
Speaker 11 (05:40):
And now we get you know, Minnesota this afternoon, and
it just seems like over twenty plus years of coaching
the Badgers, we play these guys a lot of meaningful games,
and this one becomes meaningful too because it's the last
game of our playoffs and so it's an opportunity to
win a trophy and both teams will be excited, and
as history.
Speaker 10 (05:59):
Tell, this is going to be a good game.
Speaker 9 (06:01):
One more thought or two on yesterday's game, you were
happy to with a core checking.
Speaker 10 (06:06):
Yeah, it was good.
Speaker 11 (06:07):
I mean, you know, again, they structure their defense, you know,
to defend and with their goaltender, it's hard to get
pucks than net and hard to score goals against them.
But I thought we did a good job, especially in
the first perier. I think we had sixteen shots on net,
created some opportunities, and you know, to have the middle
forty shots on that and really, you know, one and
a half power plays, that's a pretty good game against
(06:30):
the good, solid Delute team. So overall, the game was
good and hopefully we come out in this afternoons game
and play with that same energy.
Speaker 12 (06:38):
Two particular situations I want to talk about.
Speaker 9 (06:40):
One was funny sitting up with a booth calling the
game and all of a sudden, two Bulldogs are against
Jungles all alone.
Speaker 12 (06:47):
But she made a great play.
Speaker 11 (06:49):
Yeah, yeah, it's just yeah, it's just you know, those
are things that are going to happen in a game.
Speaker 10 (06:54):
You don't want to see him happen on your end.
But you know, that's why you have support.
Speaker 11 (06:59):
That's why teammates so when something breaks down can come
and support you and make the next play.
Speaker 10 (07:04):
And we were able to do that yesterday.
Speaker 9 (07:06):
And I'll tell you what when they pulled their goaltender
late in the game, you guys kept a puck in
the zone and had to be two to three minutes.
Speaker 11 (07:13):
Yeah, I thought the last five minutes, you know, after
we killed that penalty that we had taken. You know,
I thought that last five minutes we did all these
little things that you need to do to preserve a
two to one lead, knowing that's probably going to pull
their goalies. Though, when you know when m score is
a goal to make a three one, you know that
was due to our effort and our ability to continue
to pour check, continue to play downhill and play in
(07:36):
your toes. Instead, some teams will back up and try
to defend their way to victory. But I think it's
more important if you can go get four checking going
and play in the offensive zone, that'll eliminate some things.
Speaker 9 (07:47):
And now you've got Potter back, and you've got Murphy back,
and that's a plus because that's the regular defensive core.
Speaker 13 (07:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (07:54):
Yeah, you know, Potter played, you know, in their game yesterday,
and you know, again, she eats up minutes and is
a big.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Part of our defensive.
Speaker 11 (08:01):
Corps and plays one of our power plays, kills penalties.
So to have her back, and you know, she got
through the game, I'm sure she was sure this morning,
which you're naturally going to be coming back after missing
a few games. But hopefully she should be stronger today
and more importantly stronger next weekend.
Speaker 9 (08:17):
And we'll talk about next weekend in a couple of minutes. Here,
Brad Frost, you've been successful eight in a row against him.
What would you expect he would try to do against
you here today?
Speaker 14 (08:27):
Here?
Speaker 11 (08:28):
Well, I think they'll play what they did yesterday. You
know against Ohio State. They competed really hard, they poor
checked hard. You know, they capitalized on their opportunities, their
power plays.
Speaker 10 (08:38):
Going really well.
Speaker 11 (08:39):
So I'm thinking you know that they're probably just going
to do what they've been doing well, and you know,
to bet an Ohio State team like they did yesterday,
that's going to put confidences. And then the other end
of it, you know they're not going to like, you
know what we're able to do this fast winter in
our regular season games, and so you know they're going
to come out, they're going to be stingy.
Speaker 10 (08:57):
They're going to be hungry, and so we need to
match that.
Speaker 9 (09:00):
See right away, what have you done well against the
govers in this string? You're playing them pretty well.
Speaker 11 (09:05):
Yeah, I think you know, we've capitalized on our opportunities.
The two games in Madison, you know, they were missing
a couple of players, and you know those.
Speaker 10 (09:13):
Matchups are a little bit different today.
Speaker 11 (09:15):
They have everybody back, and if you can capitalize on
your opportunities. Obviously, when we score goals or other teams
in our league score goals, they get excited. Creates that
energy you're looking for. So you know, it's whatever we've
done in the past all gets thrown out the window.
It's about what we're going to do today. And I
think both coaches want to know say that their teams
(09:37):
played really well at the end of the game and
then somebody's going to win, and somebody's going to make
a play, and hopefully it's somebody you know, in a
white jersey.
Speaker 10 (09:44):
It's as badgers on her.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
And I'll tell you what. The accolades continue to come
in for this team. Ava now is one of three
finalists for Goalie of the Year.
Speaker 11 (09:53):
Yeah, she's played well again, Like we talked about yesterday,
the awards they start coming and the players that have
won it and you are in a position to win
things that they've earned it and theyves. You know, she's
put up her numbers and she can seats at the
top of the statistical category of goaltending there isn't so
she's put again a special year and I'm happy for her.
Speaker 9 (10:15):
And regardless of the outcome here, you know you're going
to be playing next weekend, right.
Speaker 11 (10:20):
Yeah, well, yeah, we'll be hosting and so we our
body of work. I'm sure we're going to be the
number one seed. And you know that it's a matter
of who's going to come to Madison and play that
Thursday game and then whoever wins that we'll be able to.
Speaker 10 (10:32):
Play Saturday at two o'clock. So that's what you know,
the regular season is over. We talked about, you know,
a couple of weeks ago. This is a two week season.
Today ends that two weeks and so.
Speaker 11 (10:41):
Whether you've been successful, you're not being successful, you just
you know, you forget it. I missed that three foot putt. Well,
here comes the next bowl. I'm going to make that
three foot putt. So that's the mindset you have to have.
But it's an opportunity to play for a trophy. So
teams get excited because they always like to put hardware
on the buses going home. So hopefully we're in that
position this afternoon at the end of the game.
Speaker 9 (11:00):
Still feel that way after all these years, that same
enthusiasm it is.
Speaker 11 (11:04):
Yeah, I mean that's why I think this season is
part of the season so fun. I mean, the doc
days are gone. I mean it's it's a long grind,
as you well known, you've been in a long time.
I mean, we start early September and now we're in
you know, the middle part of the March and we're
still going. But now there's meaning, you know, like the
regular season was fun, we ended up winning that and
now we get to that you know, that second game
(11:25):
on this weekend, which is the tournament championship game.
Speaker 10 (11:29):
And that excite ship. I mean it doesn't excitement, then
I need to go find something else.
Speaker 9 (11:33):
To do well, and I'll tell you someday you'll probably
be running at a Gape Ranch. Mark and Leslie are
the sponsors of this and they are also the owners
of a Goape Ranch.
Speaker 12 (11:42):
To learn about their stories, what they do, how to
visit the.
Speaker 9 (11:45):
Ranch, volunteer or donate to the worthy cause, go to
a g Ape Ranch.
Speaker 13 (11:51):
Wi dot com.
Speaker 12 (11:53):
And don't forget the golf outing coming up in June.
You got spots.
Speaker 10 (11:57):
We got spots.
Speaker 11 (11:58):
Yeah, so you just go to that website the first
Monday in June and hopefully we have a sunny day
like we hear have here in Duluth and we're gonna
have a great time.
Speaker 12 (12:07):
No gimme pops though from three Pete.
Speaker 10 (12:09):
Well maybe inside the leather.
Speaker 12 (12:12):
Good luck, Mark, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
A big thanks to coach Mark Johnson for speaking with us.
I'm now on the air with Paul Brown. He's out
in Duluth at the AMSO Arena. Paul, you heard Coach
Johnson talking about everything that has kind of led to
this point. It does feel like The Badgers have had
a blessed season, very little injury. We talked about Lady
Potter being out briefly, She's back, Gavin Murphy's back. They
have everyone available, all the tools they need to make
(12:36):
a deep run into the playoffs and potentially win the championship.
Speaker 9 (12:39):
Here well, they've been number one in the rankings for
twenty one consecutive weeks. Everybody in college chockey they play,
they want to play the Wisconsin Badgers. They want to
beat the Wisconsin Badgers.
Speaker 15 (12:54):
Greeny, we get everybody's best effort, and that's a good
thing in a way because it shows they're having a
tremendous amount of success.
Speaker 9 (13:04):
Some people are beginning to talk about potentially certainly it's
one of the best teams that Wisconsin has ever had,
but with only one loss so far this season, it
could be the discussion of it may be the best
team ever.
Speaker 13 (13:20):
But they got to.
Speaker 9 (13:21):
Finish the job. They've got to go all the way
through and win the national title.
Speaker 15 (13:25):
Yeah, there's some big, big things ahead of us yet.
And you know it sounds cliche, but every time you know,
you get in the playoff, regardless of the records, it's
zero and zero before they drop the puck for the
next game.
Speaker 9 (13:36):
And as Mark mentioned, the Badgers already know because of
that number one seed they will be hosting in the
NCAA tournament Wisconsin and Lebon Arena will be the site
of one of the poor regions in the country.
Speaker 15 (13:53):
Yeah, we'll have a couple of teams come in and
play each other at Lebon on Thursday, and then we
would base the winner of that test on the following Saturday,
a week from today at Labata.
Speaker 13 (14:04):
Wisconsin comes into this.
Speaker 9 (14:05):
Game with a record of thirty four to.
Speaker 13 (14:08):
One and two. They're on beaten streak is up to
twenty three.
Speaker 9 (14:13):
Consecutive games and they have won eight in a row again. Now,
the Minnesota Golden Gophers have just been introduced here to
a very small crowd here in Dulute, and the Wisconsin
Badger lineup is going to be introduced, and no surprise,
(14:34):
Ava McNaughton will be in goals. She's played most of
the games all year, fifty nine games totally in her
career and a very impressive record for ABRA.
Speaker 15 (14:48):
Yeah, she's putting together a heck of a year. You know,
with the statistics, she's got low goals against average, I
say percentage a lot of wins about each shutout putting
the other year.
Speaker 9 (15:01):
What was a discussion down in the locker room heading
into this game as far as approaches, concern and the
border battle opponent Minnesota.
Speaker 15 (15:09):
A couple of things you want to do. We want
to make sure we just get it in deep. Get
it down to the goal line. If we're feeling pressure
around the blue lines, get it up and passage it.
Get it in deep.
Speaker 13 (15:19):
First ten minutes, come out hard.
Speaker 15 (15:21):
You know, that'll set the tone for things.
Speaker 13 (15:23):
And then we want to do a little.
Speaker 15 (15:24):
Better on faceoff, so we did yesterday. If we don't
win it, we want to go get it, you know
what I mean. Or if we do win it, let's
do the right thing with it.
Speaker 9 (15:32):
And they're playing a little video on both teams here
before the introductions, and the Minnesota is already standing waiting
at the blue line. They will be stating from our
left to our right, and the Badgers dressed with their
white uniforms with red pants or cardinal and they are
going to be stating from our right to our left.
(15:54):
It's Vivian Jungles on the left side and her partner
on defense all season long, KK Harvey. Harvey with fifty
seven points now on the year, and she is a
plus seventy two.
Speaker 13 (16:11):
When she's out on the ear. That's unreal.
Speaker 9 (16:14):
Upfront, they've decided to move Leila Edwards to the right
wing on the line with Cassie Hall and Kelly Gorbatango.
Speaker 13 (16:22):
So Eden will be on the.
Speaker 9 (16:24):
Left with the player of the year offensively Casey O'Brien.
She has got eighty points already this year. It on
the right side Kirsten Simms. That unit collectively in total
points has six hundred points in their career at Wisconsin.
Mark Johnson, the coach of the year, just being introduced.
(16:47):
We'll be back with the opening face off after this
time out. This is Badger Women's.

From Amtoil Arena near the main part of downtown here
in Duluthe, Minnesota. Welcome to our broadcasts to this championship
game of the WCCHA Final five face off. Zach Back
at the studios WTSO, Mark Greenhall, the goalie coach, and
(19:07):
yours truly Paul Brown getting ready for this border battle.
Speaker 13 (19:11):
These are always fun, Greeny.
Speaker 15 (19:13):
Yeah, a lot of excitement. I kind of feel it,
you know, And like you said.
Speaker 13 (19:17):
The crowd isn't as big as I expected.
Speaker 9 (19:19):
Today, but I think there may be more Badger fans
here than Minnesota fan.
Speaker 15 (19:24):
I'm not sure I would agree with you.
Speaker 13 (19:26):
You know. I suppose if Duluth were in the championship
game that we'd.
Speaker 15 (19:31):
Have a little better, a little bigger crowd on hand.
But nonetheless, we got enough badger fans in the UW
band this year to boot so I like.
Speaker 9 (19:38):
That, and Wisconsin looking to extend there on beaten streak
to twenty four games here. But Minnesota, I think they've
got other things that they're thinking about after they put
on a pretty convincing victory of the Buckeyes of Ohio State.
Ohio State took a two to zhing lead in that
(19:59):
game late yesterday afternoon and you began to think, well,
the Buckeyes are on a roll. But Minnesota turned it
around and they dominated after that period.
Speaker 13 (20:10):
They really did it.
Speaker 15 (20:11):
One thing that's a little different than the last two
games in week week base Minnesota is they've got a
full roster. Yeah, they've got their full unit back, and
you're gonna be tough. You know, they got more depth
than they've had in a wild Yeah.
Speaker 9 (20:24):
When they played in Madison, three of their better players,
including Boobeng who's the left wing on the number one
line with Huber and Abby Murphy, and one.
Speaker 13 (20:34):
Of their defense was not there right, and.
Speaker 9 (20:37):
So they were definitely not at full strength when they
played in Madison. So we're set to go here and
hopefully the Badgers can pick up their thirty fifth win
of the year.
Speaker 15 (20:52):
And it'll be a great contest as it always is
between the Badgers and the golfers, regardless of the record
or regardless of what rink at that.
Speaker 9 (21:00):
And Cook and Jackie Crumb, the other assistance on the
Badger bench, Wisconsin is kind of loosely skating around. Meanwhile,
the Gophers are all gathered around their goaltender that is
Hannah Clark, and they'll come out on the first line
(21:21):
of Booving along with Huber and Murphy. Abby Murphy is
a crowd favorite. Yeah, Morrow and free Morano will open
defensively for the Gophers, and it's Sims along with O'Brien
and Egan for the Badgers.
Speaker 13 (21:39):
Ready for the opening. Face on for the Badgers.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
Win the draw, the stick of Harvey, Sims dropping it
over to Jungles and the play of the Harvey trying
to lead it out intercepted by Boving, and they'll play
it back down in behind McNaughton. Lay comes to the
right wing boards, the Gophers hustling down to the corner
over the trine, pick it up. Abby Murphy played it
to the point on the left side. Badger's turn and
(22:05):
out comes Jungles. She played it off the boards and
tried and burs and go over to pick it up
and controlling it around on the far side, controlling it
in the neutral zone. The play comes and Wisconsin back
into the line. Here's Egan with a drive deflected off
a body of one of the Gophers out front, and
(22:25):
it's going to be controlled by Lindsey Lindsay on the
break ahead intended for hamp Badgers go back with Harvey,
Harvey controlling it behind it at Minnesota Lindsey with pressure.
They had Christ between the dots but couldn't get it.
They go to the point and there's a drive and
it's going to be blocked and cleared from in front
of the goal. And Leila Edwards out with Cassie Hall
(22:48):
and Gorba Tankle and moving it in Hall oh the past.
Speaker 13 (22:52):
The Gorbatankle went behind her. She was open to it.
Speaker 9 (22:56):
She had her position right in the spot where she
could have got an open that goal shot and Rptanco
in front of the goal again. Corbitanco has scored in
three consecutive.

That was a real good shift, and we'll have the
face off coming up to the right side of Hannah Clark.
The Badgers have for cards. Nevitchin en ride out now

it as hemp.
Speaker 13 (26:03):
We'll drive it in on McNaughton.
Speaker 9 (26:04):
It bounced off and it's going to be cleared by
Murphy of the Badgers lineing it around on the fire side.
Badgers bang it out and it's going to be cleared
all the way back down on the Gopher's zone, churning

Speaker 13 (26:43):
Yeah, it's a fast piece.
Speaker 15 (26:45):
Four directions, man, I'm telling you, this is a quick,
quick game. If you're not paying attention you're going to
get it stolen.
Speaker 9 (26:52):
Basof will come up to the right side of Ava
McNaughton back in the Badger's zone. Jungles is out, Egan
Simms and O'Brien and kak A Harvey, and let's see
who wins this face off. The Badgers win the draw,
Harvey skates behind the at. Harvey picks it up, plays
it out over the blue line of the Badgers. Wisconsin
(27:14):
regroups and with it Sims and they'll play it behind
the at. Harvey with it around on the far side,
trying to fire it through traffic on the break to Eden,
but it's going to be turned back, played in over

Speaker 13 (27:27):
Minnesota holds the Badger's zone.
Speaker 9 (27:29):
Nice Babby Murphy there the block by Jungles of the Badgers,
and play Murphy tried the center it when cross ice.
There's a drive driven and Minnesota setting it up. There's
another drive. Minnesota already with five shots in the game,
Badgers only with one, and the Badgers pick it up.
(27:50):
Here Sims comes in of the line looking on the play,
moving it in. Oh she couldn't get it back. Yeah,
who had an open net? But the past did work.
Back come the Gophers. Abby Murphy with a drive kicked
out by Murphy and it's going to be cleared on
the boards on the far side. Wisconsin back in behind

They play it down deep in the zone. Was Nevich

bring it out of the zone. Nicholson with it and
the Venusio dumps it deep in the zone around on

Over the Layla Edwards and Edwards with it slides it

The boy, they got a system here at the Minnesota
du Lufan cleaning the ice. They got four guys with
shovels that skate around in a hurry. They used three
sambodies to surface the ice.
Speaker 13 (31:31):
They'll waste a lot of time there.
Speaker 9 (31:33):
They're in a hockey country here. If you right face off,
coming up to the left side back in the Wisconson
z own scoreless year shots from six to one in
the game and going back over to pick it up
as pre Morano, pre Morano, try to advance it. Edwards
held it in, shot it right in on Hannah Clark,
(31:53):
who put it away. And she's only been called upon
to make a couple of saves so far.
Speaker 21 (31:59):
In this game.
Speaker 15 (32:00):
Way that shot coming off of Lela Edwards, Dick I
like that Edwards Hall Gorbatinko accommodation.
Speaker 13 (32:05):
Today they're doing having a couple of good shifts so far.
Speaker 9 (32:08):
Minnesota in the first period has scored forty one goals
and allowed twenty four. Around on the near side, coming
up ice with it, Abby Murphy will play it back
down in or trying to chase it down. Is booming
around on the far side. Hubert is the center on
that line. Minnesota will set it up on the far side.
That's a pretty effective unit with Huber along with Boobing
(32:32):
and Abby Murphy, and she was right there near the
slot trying to hold it in as Moro back out
on top. Murphy with a drive right on rebound on
the far side is going to.
Speaker 13 (32:44):
Be turned away by Hubert. Wisconsin.
Speaker 9 (32:49):
It's Murphy back in over the line, Murphy Laskin, Parkey
control of the puck, yep played back down in the corner,
round over to passy hall All with it. Turn tries
to come up ice, Gorbatanko with it, plait it toward
the bench area on the far side. Hats and her
ice back in of the line, Wisconsin trying to take
(33:12):
it away from him, back down in behind the net.
Wisconsin regroups on the far side, coming up Ice with it.
Gorbatanko she'll backhanded down in the corner, chasing it as Eden.
She wins the race to get to the puck, but
it's taken off her stick. Minnesota turns and out they
come to neutralize. It's taken it away by Sims. Sims
(33:34):
back in of the line, Sim's moving.
Speaker 22 (33:36):
It in shut all, Sim Bryan get the gold Cup
in the air and Wisconsin take a one to nothing
lead on a pretty play by sim Zen O'Brien, you're
not kidding, Paul boy.
Speaker 15 (33:56):
Sims comes down on the right wing there and she
almost freezes the goalie and the defenders and they don't
know whether she's gonna shoot her pass, and she timed
it perfect giving it to O'Brien on the back door
on the left side that tapped in the first goal
of the Badgers today.
Speaker 9 (34:10):
I love it. Beautiful goal, twenty fifth goal of the year.
Sam Is getting an assystem the goal. That's her forty
third of the year and Wisconsin with about ten forty
two remitting in the period.
Speaker 13 (34:24):
Stores I love that man getting that first one's big Paul.
Speaker 9 (34:30):
You bet the time of that goal nine to twelve
into the period is the great play by the Badgers.
Speaker 15 (34:36):
What up that lineer? Just they got chemistry O'Brien and Sims.
Speaker 13 (34:40):
That's that's it.
Speaker 9 (34:41):
That twosome of a combination, maybe one of the better
twosomes in as players that play together that I've ever
seen out it's played that goal.
Speaker 17 (34:53):
That one may have been played Minnesota right back.
Speaker 9 (35:03):
They tie it up.
Speaker 15 (35:04):
It hits something on the way in and pose it.
Uh Eva went, you know, in the butterfly to make
the save and it hit something on the way in
and was.
Speaker 13 (35:12):
Redirected up high and see who got a stick on it.
It hits something.
Speaker 9 (35:19):
So the Gophers counter and we've got a tie game
at one one one.
Speaker 13 (35:27):
The Gophers get the goal. Yeah, it was a shot
head of from above the left circle.
Speaker 9 (35:37):
And we'll have a face off and the draw set
up by the Gophers played back into the line.
Speaker 13 (35:43):
Boy, they didn't take long to counter any seconds. Twenty
seconds he handed to score, lay.
Speaker 9 (35:48):
Back down in the corner, back of it to set
it up in control with it as Lindsey around on
the far side, trying to back end it out, booving
at center ice in front of the Gopher bench. Rodgers
turn and try to pick that up. We're halfway through
the first period. We're tied at one one, Badgers Milankova.
(36:16):
He officially gets the goal.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
Up here.
Speaker 9 (36:25):
You won.
Speaker 13 (36:31):
Nothington gets the assist on the goal.
Speaker 9 (36:34):
Yeah, and it's a one to one game here and
going back over to set it up and pressure in
the Badger's gone fired.
Speaker 13 (36:43):
Why to the goal?
Speaker 9 (36:45):
Shots are eight to three in the game. It's a
one to one contest. In the first period. Badger's moving
it up. Ice Edwards comes into the line, drove it
back down on the corner, intercepted by Morrow. Morrow comes up.
Ice More comes through neutral and it's going to be
backhanded and going back over his potter to flip it
(37:06):
around and the play comes to and right who turns
and drives it in behind Clark Badgers with pressure. Put
card around on the far boards over to try and
pick it Upnevich on the pass and right got off
the pass.
Speaker 15 (37:21):
Yeah Clark, good night. Set up in the play there
in the dry great playing greet Seve off the blocker.
There a hand of Clark in debt.
Speaker 13 (37:29):
So Jungles played it up off the board.
Speaker 9 (37:33):
So man, they give the goal.
Speaker 13 (37:36):
To Franco.
Speaker 9 (37:39):
With the assist to let's see.
Speaker 13 (37:41):
If they'll change it.
Speaker 9 (37:42):
They got Franco up on the goal right now with
the assist by Weppington. So for Franco getting the goal
for Minnesota, that's only your third goal of the year.
And Wessington with the assist and that's her eleventh persist
(38:05):
of the year. And we've got a one one game.
Speaker 13 (38:12):
Yeah, I tell you it is just up and down.
Speaker 9 (38:14):
Yeah, sure is.
Speaker 15 (38:15):
I mean a lot of action here, like both teams fast,
fast paced, man, really quick.
Speaker 13 (38:23):
We're getting a snow removal gang out there again.
Speaker 9 (38:27):
They're getting a little exercise. Yeah, go along those boards
and uh no rest in a uniform.
Speaker 15 (38:35):
Yeah, no snow outside of it. It's beautiful up here
in the Quinn Ports area.
Speaker 9 (38:40):
From the dance cam going on here. You can get
up there, Greeny if you want to. I got the
wrong shoes on today.
Speaker 13 (38:46):
You got the shoes on.
Speaker 9 (38:47):
That's not gonna work.
Speaker 15 (38:51):
Well, let's see here if we can get some more
shots on goal here to generate a few more chances.
Speaker 9 (39:00):
The goal. Both goals were five on five goals and
only one assists on both goals were given. So we
have the face off coming up back in the Minnesota
zone here from Ams Oil in delude ams Oil arena.
(39:21):
That's a synthetic fuel as I understand, is back over
to Garvey inside it comes around over to Sims. Sims
with it slides it on the ice, deflected one of
the goal pressure down deepen the zone in the corner backhanded.
Harvey tried to hold the point. O'Brien coming over to
help out. Here's O'Brien back over to Sims over the
drive and that was blocked. Nice passing combination there. Yeah,
(39:46):
Badgers try and do hold the zone where it is
Sims behind to that around over the Wagan comes over
to Harvey, Harvey leaves it for Egan. Here's Egan going
between the dots around on the play over the Sims
back on on top over the Harvey tried to drive
it through traffic. Gophers blocked that and they'll flip it
all the way back to the blue line of the
(40:07):
Badgers and coming over to pick it up is Kotlowski.
She'll play it around over to Sims. Brink while in
the pass Badgers turn and tried to advance it to Egan.
Egan in front of the Badger bench boutral Ice. We've
got a couple of Badgers down Sims and Egan. They're
both okay. They hop back up. Hawk goes along in
(40:27):
the Minnesota zone. It's going to be turned away by Graham.
Graham angles it off the Board's trying to lead it
to Huber. That's intercepted by Murphy. I head on the
plate to Edwards. Edwards comes in over the line off
on the play over to Murphy. Murphy tried to get
off a drive, but it was tied up on her stick.
You could play down deepen the zone of the Gophers
(40:49):
on the far wing. They fire it out on the brake,
trying to lead it through to Abby Murphy.
Speaker 13 (40:55):
She lags back the lot. Doesn't she to get that
breakaway As.
Speaker 15 (40:58):
She was cherry picking all the way up on the
offensive blue line, and they had to puck back in
their defensive zone by the dock, you know. So give
you a fixture of how far up hug urebop.
Speaker 9 (41:08):
On Earln Minnesota twenty eight to ten and one on
the air. Fason will come up to the right side
back in the Badger zone in a one to one game.
The goal is about twenty seconds apart here in the
first period and Wisconsin controlling get in the neutral zone.
(41:29):
A Minnesota chips at it a little bit, but Potter
will drive it down and it rolls around in behind
and out of the Gophers there to try and help
with Lindsey to break it out with help from Primorano,
and it's going to be set up in control to
get is Potter Potter on the break, We'll work it
down in the corner en right for cart and was
(41:50):
Nevitu're out on the forward line for the Badgers. This
is en Right on the far side over to pick
it up in the neutral zone. And we've got a whistle, yeah,
we And our first penalty of the game is coming
up on a tripping call.
Speaker 13 (42:04):
Lady Potter's going to the box.
Speaker 9 (42:07):
That's gonna send a Minnesota on the power play thirteen oh.
Speaker 15 (42:12):
Nine, Yeah, Potter two minutes for tripping.
Speaker 13 (42:19):
Minnesota on the power play.
Speaker 9 (42:21):
They're converting on about twenty seven percent of their opportunities.
They've got thirty power play goals on the year. Don't
want to give them the lead here and signed up
and won shots eight the boar in the game, Gophers
work the bunk on the far side, back out on
top comes around on the play over tomorrow Morrow back
(42:43):
on the wing, there's a drive knocked down off the
pad there of McNaughton. Badgers are tied up as they
try to work it in the corner. Sims is out
along with Jungles, Harvey and Egan on the penalty kill
and the pass comes out of the zone in primoranle
with the Goalers has to go all the way back
to set it up. Penalley time down to one twenty
(43:05):
five minute. Gophers with a man the man advantage. They
played around on the far side. The Milan Kobu is
out on the power play. Milan Kobu, Abby Murphy back
to the point on the play over tomorrow more little
given go on the far side and trying to set
it up the Gophers control of the ground over to
(43:25):
Hubert Huber on the play over to Abby Murphy. Abby
Murphy circling between the dots, bart it nice block there
and the Badgers dump it out of the zone.
Speaker 13 (43:35):
Nice play bah Hall Nancy hall Man.
Speaker 9 (43:38):
Five minutes forty seconds a minute and back going Sidney
morroll over to pick it up. Sydney will bring it
out of her own zone, working her way through neutral ice,
comes to the Badger blue and dumps it down.
Speaker 13 (43:50):
In and behind.
Speaker 9 (43:52):
Avia McNaughton swept it around off that stick, trying to
clear the zone, and the Badgers fire it up the.
Speaker 15 (43:59):
Ice wisely sold by jungles there.
Speaker 9 (44:02):
And hustling back is Lightening to pick it up for Minnesota.
She circles, goes in behind her own neck, comes out
of the right side of the pass over to Lindsay.
Lindsey to the Badger line and Harvey with it turned
and she drove it down the ice. It slides past
to Clark. Clark click quickly on the pass ahead to
(44:22):
Lightening to the Badger line to Lindsey. Lindsey plays it
in over the left side four point fifty two, reminding
in the period Potter is back in the ice, Minnesota
doesn't convert. On the power play, McNaughton steers it in
the corner. Badgers go over to try and pick it up.
Four minutes thirty nine seconds remitting in the first period
(44:43):
in which it's one one, the Gophers at the point
will backhanded along the far boards. They set it up,
both teams at equal strength controlling it.
Speaker 13 (44:52):
That's Graham, Graham and the cover up saved by Aba McNaughton.
Speaker 9 (44:57):
Here with a stoppage with four twenty remitting, we're going
to take a break. This is Wisconsin women's hockey.
Speaker 8 (45:06):

They asked the Golpher fans to wave their flag yep,
and then the Badgers and I think.
Speaker 13 (45:50):
There's more golfers here than badgers. We'll see.
Speaker 9 (45:54):
It's one one, nine to twelve into the period, a
nice goal was set up. It was controlled Sims giving
it to O'Brien, her twenty fifth goal of the year,
and Sims with the assist her forty third of the year.
But twenty seconds later Minnesota countered and getting the assist
was Wepington on the goal that was scored by Ali Francco,
(46:19):
her third of the year, both of them.
Speaker 13 (46:21):
Five on five.
Speaker 9 (46:23):
And that's where we stand here in the first period.
One penalty call that against the Wisconsin Badgers potter, but
Minnesota unable to convert on the power play situation.
Speaker 15 (46:35):
Nice job of killing that tedally by all the units
that were out there for that two minute span. It's like,
we're going to take a draw here to the right
of Eva A Cassie Hall in the circle.
Speaker 9 (46:46):
Let's see if Cassie she drew it forward. But the
Gophers get back and Wisconsin back along the wing and
Leylea Edwards and Cassie Hall try to clear it and
the Gophers look to hold it in Wisconsin will bring
it out to neutral ice. They come up the left side,
Haul comes in on the dear wing, all controlling the puck.
(47:07):
She went down, played it deep in the zone over
his parking and for Minnesota looking for help to come
out of the Minnesota zone. Leyla Edwards held it in,
took a shot block Gopher's turn back. They come Wethington
skate center of the line trailing There was uh Millan
Kobu and Potter trying to pick it up. Potter moving
(47:28):
it in. Here's Potter with it. Gorbatanco ripped one from
the slot. Yeah, I'm sorry, that's oh man, it was Gorbatanco.
Speaker 15 (47:37):
Yeah, they're both in the same height. That's probably why you.
Speaker 9 (47:39):
Got Yeah, actually I did. Honestly, I just blew the call.
Speaker 13 (47:44):
Oh no, I wow.
Speaker 9 (47:46):
Look at Gorbo going. You know, she scored in three
consecutive games. She's doing pretty well.
Speaker 5 (47:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (47:52):
They shot on net there from the slot after she
drove it down the right wing.
Speaker 9 (47:56):
Three thirty eight remedic in the period shots you're eleven
to five and a game and going over to control it.
Now around the boards on the far side, trying to
pick it up. His jungles jungles around over to Sims.
Sims went down. Look Out, she gave up the puck.
Here's a potential two one one, Yeah. Murphy moving in
with Moro and the shot went way wide by Murphy,
(48:20):
Abby Murphy. Somebody may have gotten a little bit of
her stick there, because yeah, he's rove it way wider
than that. It took off and it's played down in
the corner. O'Brien looking for help to hold it in.
Abby Murphy with him will turn. Murphy's having a great year.
Look Out.
Speaker 13 (48:36):
Bobby got the goal.
Speaker 9 (48:41):
And got the goal.
Speaker 13 (48:45):
In Minnesota.
Speaker 17 (48:46):
Leads two to one.
Speaker 15 (48:50):
Yeah, with a hard rift shot by Boving there from
just above the right dot v Dave on the long side,
just inside the pipe, her stick side about halfway up.
Speaker 9 (49:05):
Abby Murphy gets an assist and Primarano gets an assist.
So the Gophers have taken the lead here against the
Wisconsin Badgers sixteen fifty nine the time of the goal.
The Gophers are for real. You knew that when they
(49:27):
played him in Madison they were not at full strength.
Are out on the far side over to try and
control it the Badgers. We'll work it through center ice,
picking it up with it as Murphy Murphy back handing
it in and whistling, play is going to be stopped.
What I understand is the reason this w COCHA Final
(49:48):
five face office here in Duluth, Minnesota did not feel
as though they should have their own home rink for
the playoff championship and all for the national tournament.
Speaker 13 (50:01):
Yeah, so they asked the Looth to host it for
one year.
Speaker 9 (50:04):
Otherwise they would have had the home ice in both situations.
So whether that's the exact fact or not, but it
makes sense in logic when you think about.
Speaker 15 (50:15):
Well, I tip my head the Looth. They're doing a
nice job a host in the tournament, no doubt. This
is an amzoil arena. Is an ice facility.
Speaker 9 (50:22):
Base off coming up to the right side. In this
two to one Gopher lead here in the first period,
there's a drive and it's kicked out by a Clark
around on the far side.
Speaker 13 (50:32):
The moving it up ice.
Speaker 9 (50:34):
The Gophers will have an advantage if they make the
frozen four. The national tournament is going to be in
their building. Yeah, around the fire, moving it up ice,
controlling a Badgers come through neutral they'll work it in
over the line. That play is broken up and it's
controlled by Graham and there was an off side. We're
(50:55):
near that blue line and I could have even called
that one.
Speaker 15 (51:00):
Yeah, you don't need your buy vocals for that right.
Speaker 9 (51:02):
Thirty second assists of the year for Abby Murphy on
that goal that was just scored free Morano picked up
and assists. That's her twenty fourth of the year. She
is an outstanding freshman.
Speaker 13 (51:20):
Who got the assist. He prea Morano, Okay, yeah she is.
Speaker 9 (51:24):
And it's going to be set up and controlled along
the boards down in the corner over the shine picking
up one fifty four remitting in the period and Edwards
with it turned and Layla played it. But the Gophers
break it up. They've been very aggressive on their for
checking in this game, haven't Yes, they have their contestingy
right away and controlling it coming in over the line
(51:45):
and scandal with it. Gorba Tancos out, Jungles Is out
of the ice along with Venusio and Edwards lay down
on the corner of the right side. Badgers are down
a goal and they sent of it right out in front.
The Gophers will clear back up. They come the far wing,
break into the net. Abby Murphy. That play is broken
(52:06):
up by jungles and it's going to be played on
the wing on the near side. Trying to control it
and both teams at full strength here in the first
period of play. One oh five or men in with it.
Moro with a shot tipped toward the goal. Scandal in
the corner. Scandal around on the far side, and it's
(52:26):
going to be brought back up. Ice controlling it back
in over the line. Gophers try to set it up.
They got a mismatch in line. They got their number
one line against the Badger's fourth line. Egan out and
it's going to be picked up by Jungle. It's going
to change up here and O'Brien skates in over the line.
Speaker 5 (52:46):
Sims is out now.
Speaker 9 (52:48):
They almost caught him there as they were trying to
make the cachem yep around on the far side. The
Badger Sims with it, leaves it for O'Brien cutting to
the net. Is Egan and whistle and plays going to
be stopped on the off side. Calls them's going I
was an off side, Come.
Speaker 15 (53:04):
On, come on, he just proceeded O'Brien carrying the fuck
into the offensive zone.
Speaker 9 (53:11):
Yeah, O'Brien, we'll try to win the face off for
the Badger. Simms is on that line as well, and
Egan is out back defensively. It's Potter and Murphy face
off at the Minnesota line with twenty five seconds your medican.
The first period two to one Gophers. Yeah, the Murphy
plays it back down and whistle they call it again.
(53:33):
It's the blue line there.
Speaker 15 (53:37):
Well, about nineteen seconds left here. She's nice if we
could just bang went in somehow right before the period ended.
Speaker 9 (53:45):
Uh, that's pretty fast period.
Speaker 13 (53:47):
Yeah, no kidding this.
Speaker 9 (53:49):
The game started at about two oh five or two
oh six, and it's only about two thirty five or
two thirty eight, and yeah, we're down almost eighteen seconds,
your medican. The period is a past period around on
the far side, trying to control it. Dan the moving
picks it up, moving to a very nice player, and
she picked that corner. You could see it from up here,
(54:10):
and she put it right where she wanted to go.
Speaker 13 (54:13):
With just inside the pipe in the lagside and.
Speaker 9 (54:15):
The moving back along the boards. Then we've come to
the end of the first period of play at Greennie,
what do you think.
Speaker 15 (54:21):
Well, it sure is a fast paced every shift couch
they elk shot us by about four shots is all.
So we were able to kill off a penalty. So
some good things happening. We'll have to come back, ready
to go here, We'll be back.
Speaker 9 (54:35):

Speaker 1 (56:37):
This is ten to seventy the game.
Speaker 9 (56:44):
Back during the intermission, Paul Brown with Stephanie aren't who's
the athletic trainer for the UWU, But Stephanie, I don't
want to just talk hockey. I want to talk a
little bit about tell the listener a little bit about
the entire trainer concept at the University of Wisconsin.
Speaker 12 (57:00):
For example, how many different trainers are there?
Speaker 14 (57:04):
Oh, I should have done my research before I think.
Speaker 26 (57:07):
Yeah, I think on our sports medicine staff at Wisconsin,
we're very fortunate to have. We've between twenty and twenty
three full time athletic trainers, with people identified at least
one for each sport. We have some sources, I have
multiple with obviously the higher roster numbers. We've got a
(57:28):
really good support from our sports medicine director, Michael Mole
in that sense, and he's done great advocating so that
we can give our student athletes the best care possible.
Speaker 9 (57:37):
And what kind of training do you guys get and
kind of give us. We'll talk about your game preparations
and that kind of thing, but overall kind of a
general overview of how that whole thing works at Wisconsin.
Speaker 26 (57:50):
Yeah, so all of us come from different backgrounds. Of
the older crew of us came out of, you know,
either internship programs or bachelor programs. We've now moved into
what's called entry level master's program to get your education
and then sit for a board exam. And the experiences
that we've all had leading up until this have all
(58:11):
been created differently. And then what provided at the University
of Wisconsin is great support again from our Director of
sports Men, Michael Mole, and the ability to do continuing
education specific to our own individual needs. For example, myself,
I try to go to some hockey specific or hip
specific continuing ed because.
Speaker 14 (58:32):
I see a lot of that with my sport.
Speaker 26 (58:34):
I also like to do a lot of manual therapy
type rehab and treatments with my student athletes, so I've
been able to pursue those types of things. We've also
done a great job at bringing providers into our staff
at UW Madison, so we're all not scattering around and
going different places, but bringing somebody to us so that
(58:55):
all of us as providers can be learning from the
same people and then be girls.
Speaker 14 (59:00):
As a group as well.
Speaker 9 (59:01):
We're chatting with Stephanie in terms of say, overall in
the last five six years, what's the biggest change.
Speaker 12 (59:08):
In what you do or maybe the challenge that you have.
Speaker 14 (59:12):
That's a great question, Paul.
Speaker 9 (59:16):
Wow.
Speaker 26 (59:17):
You know, I think the biggest challenge is ensuring that
as the medical provider, we're not only providing the best
medical care for these student athletes, but also seeing them
as the whole person throughout the whole process. We see
them day in and day out, and we're helping them,
you know, with a lot of the medical necessities, the nutrition,
(59:38):
the recovery as part of this team effort to give
them the best resources and put them in the best
place possible to execute and be successful in the program.
But it's also about them as people, like who they're
coming in here as people, how they feel as people
(01:00:00):
outside of them as a hockey player. So it's really
the whole person, and I hope that they all leave
here knowing that they're cared for as individuals and also
seen as a whole being. Student athlete and individuals that
get to grow and understand themselves more and flourish in
(01:00:22):
the future.
Speaker 9 (01:00:23):
On every athletic team, one of the keys to success
is that team staying healthy throughout the year. This year,
the Badgers have obviously had a fabulous year, and is
it fair to say that overall there haven't been that
many serious injuries.
Speaker 14 (01:00:40):
I think we've just done a great job of not
letting you all see them.
Speaker 24 (01:00:43):
Okay, all right, No.
Speaker 26 (01:00:48):
I mean we have a very resilient and at the
same time stubborn group. We have some players that will
play through a lot of things. Obviously nothing that would
put them at any greater risk further injury. But we
have very dedicated athletes and they're going to work hard.
They're very devoted to the process that we have of
(01:01:12):
rehab and treatment and recovery and all of the things.
And we also have a great team of you know,
our nutritionness, our dieticians, our strength go to myself, like
all the people that help put this thing together. Our
athletes are great at understanding we're all here to help
and make the process better for them. So it's a
(01:01:34):
group effort and it's just so exciting to be able
to be a part of it and see the products
come together.
Speaker 9 (01:01:42):
You mentioned that there's hips fort example, is that one
of the key ones with the sport of hockey just
kind of generally what happens traditionally, more so in certain
situations than others.
Speaker 14 (01:01:56):
Sure.
Speaker 26 (01:01:56):
Yeah, I would say hips in general are pretty high
on the list of things that I deal with, and
I like the approach or I like to take the
approach that I like to do a lot of maintenance
like prep work. Our strength coach Paul Lucas does an
amazing job with him and I collaborating to a lot
to do pre work. He does a lot of work
in the summer. So I feel like together we have
(01:02:19):
put together a program where we're not dealing with a
lot of injuries actually with the hips because we don't
do so much prep and maintenance work that they're strong.
They're really really strong, and they're stable and they're I
can't think of the other word I want to use,
but we have to have a great base, so we
do a lot of maintenance there.
Speaker 14 (01:02:38):
The other I would say big body part area.
Speaker 26 (01:02:42):
We see his shoulders and it's just because it's a
physical game and we have physical players.
Speaker 14 (01:02:47):
And that's part of the game. It doesn't matter how
strong you are.
Speaker 26 (01:02:49):
Sometimes it's just a bad situation and you can't stop
anything from happening with those I think.
Speaker 12 (01:02:55):
Your job is like everybody else's.
Speaker 9 (01:02:57):
People assume I walk into down and do the broadcast
and have no idea, and I don't mean it negatively.
I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.
I sensed the same thing with you. In fact, you
and I were chatting earlier this morning. I look at
your cellphone and you're looking at scheduling an interview. Here
you had fifteen twenty different things in a nutshell. Give
(01:03:18):
me a typical day on the road for you.
Speaker 12 (01:03:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 26 (01:03:23):
So there's a lot of prep that goes into it,
and it could be different on any given day. And
quite honestly, Paul, that's what I love about this job.
So today was a little bit busy, getting some things
organized this morning, picking up some medications for just some
things that popped up overnight or have been brewing in
the last couple of days. Went to practice, got to
(01:03:46):
the rink, did some prep, watched practice, got done, did
a couple of treatments. I had to run a couple
of errands, pick up those men's and then did treatments
for three to four hours on different people. Little break
here to do a little bit something for myself, and
then we have team dinner, and then we're going to
a banquet and then you know, I think I'm going
(01:04:10):
to do a couple more treatments before I hit the
pillow tonight.
Speaker 12 (01:04:12):
So and then I get up tomorrow and get ready
for game there exactly.
Speaker 26 (01:04:16):
But you know, it's all about how can I be
a part of this process to make this group successful.
Speaker 14 (01:04:21):
And I'm just prideful to be a part.
Speaker 12 (01:04:22):
Of this group, and I'm sure they're glad to have you.
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 16 (01:04:27):

affects a person's ability to care for themselves, process information,

Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
This is ten to seventy the game.
Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
Welcome back, everybody's actually left WICHI and Studio Paul Brown
and Mark Greenhall are on the road in Duluth. The
Badgers trail two to one after one period against the
Minnesota Golden Gophers and Paul a real back and forth
period that looked like the Badgers had quite a few
offensive opportunities, but they just weren't able to get them
to fall.
Speaker 9 (01:06:49):
Ah, that's correct, and I'll tell you what Minnesota you
can tell it. Compared to when we saw him the
last time at Lebon Arena, this is a different team
you and I mentioned when we were doing the broadcast.
They were not at full strength when they were in Madison.
They had three players, three of their better players that
were not in the lineup. It's a different hockey team
(01:07:12):
here today if they played very well against Ohio State
in the game yesterday here. So it's no secret the
Gophers are a very, very good team. They're ranked in
the top four in the country, and they're going to
be a factor in the tournament, and if they get
in their own building, who knows, they are very capable
of winning the national championship. There's no doubt about it.
Speaker 13 (01:07:35):
A very good team.
Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
And there are two other very good teams that the
Badgers don't get to see very often but may well
see in the tournament. The ECH tournament going on. Number
three Colgate and number five Cornell are in action and
in the first period it's two nothing Cornell. Those East
Coast teams are always very hard to feel out because
we just don't play them throughout the season. But right
now they're meeting and they'll definitely be a factor in
the playoffs as well.
Speaker 9 (01:07:55):
I checked with Mark and obviously nobody knows officially, and
they will make the announcement after the conclusion of all
of the games this weekend tomorrow. I believe it's on ESPNU,
but I'm not exactly sure about that, But they will
announce the peerings, and so no one knows for sure
(01:08:19):
who's going to be playing who. Mark's estimate is that
he would possibly think whoever winds up eight and nine
in the official.
Speaker 13 (01:08:31):
Polling, so to speak, would have a pretty.
Speaker 9 (01:08:34):
Good chance of getting at least one or two of
those teams that may come to Madison next weekend and
play that Thursday night game and that kind of thing.
But again depending and that could all be changed based
on upsets and other things like that. But the Badgers
(01:08:55):
definitely will host a regional tournament next week in matt
Us and there at that point you're one game away
from the Prosen four, regardless of what happens here today.
Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
So exactly eleven tomorrow on ESPN Plus, you can watch
the selection show. Five teams get a buy, six teams
play in. I hear Paul coach Greenhall's back with you,
so I'll give it back to you guys on Wisconsin
for the second period.
Speaker 13 (01:09:22):
How did he see you come back?
Speaker 9 (01:09:24):
Or he must have heard you? Yeah, I have no
idea Zach has got powers that I'm not aware of.
Speaker 13 (01:09:29):
He's unbelievable. He's it evenly heard. You put on the.
Speaker 9 (01:09:32):
Headset here he goes, there, he goes, yep, Well what'd
you learn downstairs?
Speaker 13 (01:09:37):
Well, we'd like to win more fifty to fifty battles.
Speaker 15 (01:09:40):
You know where we didn't win as many of those
as we would have liked, and then we got to
depend on our own end. They transition quickly, so we
knowing for that, yeah, yeah, they are, so we we
we can't allow them as many scoring opportunities as they got.
Speaker 13 (01:09:53):
They got twelve shots at that period and a number
of more pretty high percentages you saw, you know, so
we eliminate those.
Speaker 15 (01:10:00):
We've got to defending their own end to help for
where people are and you know, win those fifty to
fifty battles.
Speaker 9 (01:10:07):
So we're going to get the teams back up on
the ice here at Amazoil or Parena in Deluth, Minnesota.
Speaker 13 (01:10:15):
I'll tell you what. That scenic drive along the lake
is a pretty thing. It really is.
Speaker 9 (01:10:21):
I can imagine in the summertime. Somebody told me yesterday,
you can take that drive all the way up to
Canada and it's over a couple hundred miles. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:10:30):
Yeah, you get up there past Thunder Bay and you
just continue up that way.
Speaker 9 (01:10:34):
I believe. And it's a I've only ever been up
here in the winter time, so that you can say
we're and they're doing a lot of construction and delue.
Speaker 13 (01:10:44):
Yeah they are. They're doing a lot of things to
make the city even better than it was before. They're
dressing up the Twin Ports area overall. And well, you
heard the mayor speak the other night at the WHA
no Ither. Oh, Okay, he was. He was impressive, I think, yeah,
very much.
Speaker 19 (01:11:00):
So.
Speaker 13 (01:11:00):
I wish I could recall the gentleman's name.
Speaker 15 (01:11:02):
He was really really you could tell he's an accomplished
man and wants to do the right things for the community.
Speaker 9 (01:11:09):
Het Gophers and the Badgers, they're coming back out onto
the ice here and they're ready for game for period
number two in game this game between Minnesota and the
Wisconsin Badgers.
Speaker 13 (01:11:22):
And hey how about the men.
Speaker 9 (01:11:24):
The badger Men, they beat the Buckeyes of Ohio State
down in Columbus then the best of three series, so
hopefully they can pull that one out this weekend.
Speaker 15 (01:11:34):
Yeah, they play again today. I believe in the game
number two, the one four to one yesterday.
Speaker 9 (01:11:39):
Yep, and good for them. So they'll be playing a
third game for sure. Down in Columbus. Did they play
the day Yeah, well they're playing okay. Yeah, it's the
best of three otcha. Yeah, So we'll see what happens there.
Be great if the badger Men could be a buck guy.
Speaker 13 (01:11:57):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (01:11:59):
And of course here in the state of Minnesota, it's
the highlight of the season for hockey. The Minnesota High
School Hockey Tournament is going on down in the Twin
Cities and the Crown all their champions.
Speaker 13 (01:12:13):
Somebody told me yesterday tickets.
Speaker 9 (01:12:15):
For the quarter final games, which were sold out, we're
selling for one hundred and fifty bucks.
Speaker 13 (01:12:20):
Wow. If you could get them, yeah, if you could
get them. Wow.
Speaker 9 (01:12:25):
So we're ready to go here and we're in the
second period. Badgers will be skating from our left to
our right and the drawing is going to be set
up by Minnesota and they'll backhand it down in the corner.
Eden is out along with O'Brien and Simms. For the Badgers,
it's Harvey and Jungles paired defensively. Badgers played ahead to Eden.
(01:12:48):
Eden comes in over the line, eten with it off
over to Harvey who drove it in on net and
it was scooped up by Clark.
Speaker 15 (01:12:55):
Nice play there, some good puck movement and Harvey got
off a quality shop Clark gloved it, didn't.
Speaker 9 (01:13:01):
That, so we'll have the face off coming up back
in the zone of the Gophers here just under way
in the second period, nineteen forty remaining in a two
to one game. All of the goals scoring in the
first period, only one penalty called that on the Badgers.
Speaker 13 (01:13:18):
Minnesota did not convert. On the power play.
Speaker 9 (01:13:22):
Gophers will flip it in over the line, moving had
it and lost control of the puck. Badgers pick it up,
they fire it ahead on the break, Wisconsin's O'Brien will
drop it to Harvey, back over to O'Brien back out
the jungle shot. A goal, get your fourth all the year,
(01:13:44):
and Wisconsin's tied the game at too.
Speaker 15 (01:13:49):
Just a beautiful goal, A hard wrist shot from about
the left point by Vivian Juggles after a pass from
I think O'Brien was the one that slid it up
to her. I'm not sure, but you can double check
beyond that. On the assist but man, she just played
a nice frist shot to beat Clerk. I think above
the glove side. That's a big goal for the Dodgers.
Speaker 9 (01:14:10):
Gives him the tie and the game here against Minnesota,
Edwards comes out along with Hall and Gorbatenko, and the
puck is loose and the Badgers will skate it down.
Aba Murphy with it turned and tried to play it out.
Christ with it played it back down in the corner.
Murphy breaks that up. Murphy and Potter paired defensively on
(01:14:32):
the break to Eden comes in over the line, played
down back in behind. Jungles did officially get the goal
for the Badgers. Yea and Ogo, Brian with the assist
and Harvey with an assist on that goal around on
the far side. So Brian and Harvey on the Jungle's
(01:14:56):
goal comes in over the line, controlling it with it
as Murphy on the rush put her right out in front.
Speaker 13 (01:15:03):
Gorba Tanko tried to back at it toward the goal.
Pressure by Hall and Leylea Edwards.
Speaker 9 (01:15:10):
The Gophers turn and they'll move it up Ice Chrice
on the lead on the plate to Graham. Badgers in
their own zone try to work it loose. They play
it around on the boards and it's going to be
held in. Good job by Franco to do that. On
the far side of Milan Kobu, there's a shot and
Aba McNaughton covered.
Speaker 15 (01:15:29):
Up and she made the say yeah, Milan Koba come
around the slot there, fired her hard wrister.
Speaker 13 (01:15:38):
Glad Eva loved that one clean there.
Speaker 9 (01:15:40):
The fifty seventh assist of the year for O'Brien for Harvey,
her forty second of the year. Staggering numbers offensively, the
Badgers have scored two hundred and three goals coming into
this game and play they cut.
Speaker 15 (01:15:59):
Her open the ned I don't know what he was
waiting for on that whistle there. It was covered for
about a week and a half there by Magotten.
Speaker 9 (01:16:07):
And in the second period, Wisconsin has outscoring their opponents
seventy to sixteen. Minnesota has scored forty five and they've
given up twenty nine.
Speaker 13 (01:16:20):
Yeah, let's see here.
Speaker 9 (01:16:23):
Picard wins a draw and Wisconsin will turn and they'll
come up by he's controlling it coming in over the
line as Picard and Pericard will work it down on
the far side, over to Waznevitch back to the point
to Banusio sight on and the Badgers play it to
the point over to Kotlowski with a drive and a
cover up side. There a couple of good shots from
(01:16:45):
the point by Bonusio and Kotolowski.
Speaker 13 (01:16:48):
I like it.
Speaker 15 (01:16:49):
I like it. Put it right on that and either
it's going in or you might have a rebound to
work with.
Speaker 9 (01:16:55):
So both teams will change up their forward lines and
defence and peerings. Here Badgers will come out and out
on the ice. It's Harvey along with Jungles. It's Sims,
O'Brien and Eden for the Badgers and Wisconsin over to
try and bring it to the point to hold it in.
(01:17:18):
Eden looking turning, trying to give it off over to
O'Brien and the Badgers will back it up on the
far side over to Sims. Sims cuts in over the
line on the play to Eden with a shot right on.
Speaker 5 (01:17:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:17:30):
Adam went down on the court and eating over to
set it up and control. They got O'Brien in the slot.
They go back to the point on the play over
the Jungles, they work the corner. O'Brien is held up
Adam Minnesota turns moving coming up ice Moving's got one
of the goals sprinkled the other for Minnesota. It's played
in the corner on the far side, Huber with it,
(01:17:53):
Huber behind that, Adam Wisconsin their number one line of
booving along with Huber and Murphy out on top. Shot fired,
Parking and Graham paired defensively to play in the Wisconsin
zone here sixteen forty remitting. In the second period, Wisconsin
and Minnesota tied it to two. They dump it back
(01:18:16):
down on the zone, Harvey chasing it to Harvey works
it around on the far side and now get a
whistle whistle. That's sure what for Paul, We'll see I
missed that call. Sixteen twenty nine. Shots are fifteen thirteen
here so far in the game. They'll work it outside
the blueline of Wisconsin. The Badger's getting from our left
(01:18:37):
to our right with their white jerseys, red pants, red
numerals cardinal, if you will, and controlling it up byce
controlling it. Here's Edwards comes in over the line. We'll
play it back down in behind Wisconsin around on the
far side, over the Gorbatanco.
Speaker 13 (01:18:56):
Badgers try to hold the zone.
Speaker 9 (01:18:58):
Edwards a little given gold back right there by Gorba
Tenko three games in a row now she scored a
goal and on the season she's got fourteen so far
this year. That's Christ with it in over the line
on the plate to Lindsey. Lindsey, why did the net
Badgers turn it up?
Speaker 13 (01:19:16):
They come?
Speaker 9 (01:19:17):
Here comes Edwards up the right side. Badger's breaking the zone.
Edwards try to go cross ice intended for Potter, didn't
connect back to the point. Wisconsin controls Layla with it.
We'll cycle it around the boards on the far side,
over to Aver Murphy who comes deep in the zone
from that defensive possession and coming over trying to pick
(01:19:40):
it up the Badgers. We'll go back per Card with
it for the Badgers. A little check there by Christ
forcing the Badgers to come up the right side on
the play over to Waznevitch and she'll play it around
the boards over trying to help out. That's lighting it
and Wisconsin tried to hold the zone. Go break it out.
(01:20:00):
Franco moving it up, Ice dumps it down in the
Ava Murphy Aba Murphy are around the boards on the
far side trying to control it. Minnesota moves it in McNaughton,
who Ava McNaught looking for it behind the goal one side.
Speaker 15 (01:20:16):
She looks the other and then gathers it in. Yeah,
they're getting around their neck. They're too close because of
all that.
Speaker 9 (01:20:24):
Yeah, Yeah they can skate. They got a lot of quickness.
We're going to take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger

Number one on your car radio preset hand and new
and improved. Iheard Radio ApoA in Madison. We are ten
seventy The Gang three never sounded so good.
Speaker 9 (01:21:15):
We're back in Minnesota where the Badgers are tying up
with the Golden Gophers of Minnesota. As we have a
two to two game here from Amzoil Arena. Time out
has been called uh Badgers over surrounding their bench area.
(01:21:38):
Mark kind of casually chatting with him there coming out.
Speaker 13 (01:21:41):
Under the ice for Wisconsin. An Wright is going to
come out.
Speaker 9 (01:21:47):
Navich' is out along with Pricard and an right based
off to the left side of McNaughton back and Wisconsin
over to pick it up. Venusio fires at are round
over to uh Harvey. Harvey leading it out over to Wasnvitch.
Badgers will try to chase it down. Was Nevitch going
(01:22:08):
in the corner, trying to take it away from Graham
behind the Minnesota goal, and they do. It's dug out
and controlled along the boards. Was Nevitch and procard. Was
Nevich working hard there, went down twice and the Minnesota
will turn. They come back three against two. Coming over
the Wisconsin line back checking in right with it fired
(01:22:31):
in a break and back it's moving comes in up
the line of Wisconsin, drops a pass over the wave
of Murphy with a shot right on man.
Speaker 13 (01:22:42):
It's controlled by Abby Murphy can fire that puck in. Yeah,
she's a sniper. Yeah, she's a right.
Speaker 15 (01:22:49):
Hander, and she'll work it to the left and then
she'll come off off that wing and fire a nice
hard forehand shot like she did there and Ava was
there to make.
Speaker 9 (01:22:57):
The stop, and we're fourteen oh nine remainting in the
second period. Badgers trying to get it out of the zone.
It's controlled by Premorano. He play. They play the left
the point or the left defense point there for Premorano
along with Morro around on the far side trying to
(01:23:20):
control it. Badgers on the far wing try to figure
it up. Minnesota comes back into the line, coming in
over the line with it as Huber tried to go
to Booming on the off wing, and Wisconsin will chip
it out and Premorano with it fired a wide of
the goal. Badgers will turn and up ice. They come
(01:23:40):
in over the Minnesota line, both teams at full strength.
It's going to be cleared away by Premorano on the
break and Wisconsin will skate it down. Potter slides it
over to KK Harvey. Eden comes in over the line,
leads it for Sims. Sims working the wing. They tried
to pass it, but it's going to be intercepted by
(01:24:00):
Christ Price comes back into the line given go Christ
shot deflected. The big shot there is fired from the
point by Lightening Minnesota to point. Lightening on the far side,
picks it up, fired it blocked out in front, Sims
cleared it, angled it off the boards, trying to hit Eden,
(01:24:21):
but it's picked up Minnesota back controlling in the neutral
zone and over the blue line. Harvey breaks that up,
bags it around the boards, over the Gorba Tanco rink
wat in the past to Edwards near side. Edwards pulled
up and fired a shot, partially blocked. The play is
behind the Minnesota net. We'll have a stoppage there.
Speaker 15 (01:24:42):
Yeah, like even trying to shot up. Shoot the fuck
on Thatt there. It is too bad.
Speaker 13 (01:24:46):
She got a block by Nicholson that right wing.
Speaker 9 (01:24:50):
If you just joined us, it's two two here in Duluth, Minnesota,
between the Gophers and the Badgers Scandal along with Halver's
and McCarthy are the scheduled line, but they moved Scanneal
to a different line, working some combinations here, tried a
few different and coming up Ice controlling it through the
(01:25:13):
neutral zone, parking in with it, and they'll play it
in behind McNaughton, who works the wing, and the breakout
Badgers come up Ice. They come through neutral and scannal loss.
Control of the park is lightened and took it away,
Kotlowski back angled it off the back wall and they
play it ahead intended for Scannal Scannel at the blue
(01:25:35):
line of Minnesota. Hurdle was over to pick it up. Sto.
Speaker 17 (01:25:40):
What a beautiful effort by the freshman for the Badger.
Speaker 28 (01:25:44):
Maggie Scandal with the goal her thirteenth goal of the
year and wiscons and leaves it raight a two. What
an effort by scale un believable effort man.
Speaker 15 (01:25:57):
She was just determined she had She beat defenseman at
the blue line and just kept going after the puck,
got it, worked it to her back end and flipped
it in past the stick side of Clerk in net
for the golfer's beautiful goal by Scandal.
Speaker 13 (01:26:12):
My goodness, Maggie's.
Speaker 9 (01:26:15):
Press Ye, holy smokes, was that impressed? Oh my goodness,
I love it And done by a freshman. Yeah, And
the play along the boards moving, we'll hold it in.
Badgers go back along the boards over to pick it up,
and they turn and try to bring it out and
with it Sims on the play hop ice on the
(01:26:36):
far side and the play in the neutral zone. Scandal
was on the All Rookie team in the wha, Oh,
there's a pedale.
Speaker 13 (01:26:46):
That's brutal. I'm sorry. And then imagine that Guess who
it was. Oh, let me take three guesses.
Speaker 12 (01:26:57):
She did there?
Speaker 15 (01:26:58):
She is eighteen heavy eighteen after crosschecking Murphy Eva Murphy
for the Badgers right across the back as hard as
she could, drop her to the ice like a bucket
of paint.
Speaker 13 (01:27:11):
My goodness, that's not needed.
Speaker 9 (01:27:13):
Eight thirty three the time of the penalty given the
Badgers a power play opportunity, burd on it.
Speaker 4 (01:27:19):
Huh.
Speaker 9 (01:27:19):
They lead the country with a power play percentage. They're
up there at about thirty five percent. And let's make
them penalize hey for they can pay. Yeah, that's right,
make them pay.
Speaker 15 (01:27:34):
I like it. Now there's the fifty to fifty battles
that Mark was talking about when he got meat.
Speaker 9 (01:27:40):
Leave it. He'll go back over trying to set it up.
Eight oh four the time of the goal scored by Wisconsin,
and that I believe is going to be an even
strength on assisted goal by Edwards. With it, Badgers look
to set it up. Here's Harvey with a shot, and
that's whither the net or deflected wide. Badgers with the
(01:28:03):
power play one eighteen remitting and Harvey has it above
the circles and Harvey with a shot that went off
the glass whistle and play is going to be stopped.
Speaker 15 (01:28:15):
Paul, did they give Venusio and Pat Lowski assists on
Scandal's gold?
Speaker 13 (01:28:20):
You know, I think they might have. I've just check it.
I think they had it.
Speaker 9 (01:28:24):
They don't have it listed on the official scoring sheet yet,
but that doesn't mean that they won't.
Speaker 13 (01:28:29):
Okay, I thought I saw it up on the board
here of a jumble cron in this way.
Speaker 9 (01:28:32):
Well you probably did. Right now, it's listed goal by
Scandal even strength, and it's going to be controlled back
to the point on the left side.
Speaker 13 (01:28:43):
It comes around over to Sims. Sim's controlling it.
Speaker 9 (01:28:46):
Power play situations, Badgers lead it three to two in
the game. Harvey faked the drive, moving it in backdoor
edwards shot and it comes out of the zone.
Speaker 13 (01:28:57):
Harvey quickly to pick it up.
Speaker 9 (01:28:58):
They still got fifty second instrumenting on the power play.
Badgers worked through center ice. Eden comes in of the
line and it's over to Sims with a drive and
the save is made. Wisconsin looks to hold the zone,
but it's chipped out as it went off the stick,
I believe of christ and control to get his edwards
in the neutral zone. She turns and carries it in
(01:29:20):
over the line. Layla with the puck on the far side,
try to maneuver through two gophers. They played around over
to Sims. Here's Sims moving it and the pass goes
to Harvey who tried to chip it ahead, but it
went right to the stick of Lindsey who fired it.
Ava McNaughton quickly over the Sims and soft side.
Speaker 13 (01:29:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:29:45):
Ava sent it all the way from you know, her
crease up to the offensive blue line. But somebody preceded
the fuck here, so we'll have a piece off of
the neutral zone. We still got eight seconds on the
the power play, but.
Speaker 9 (01:29:59):
Fay saw coming up. Scandal is on the right side,
and Scandal with it played back down in the corner
trying to chase it down. His Hall and Potter back
defensively along with Murphy. And back out on the ice
is Abby Murphy, and they got about four or five
of the players in the corner trying to work it
(01:30:20):
loose there you'll pinned and Gorbatanco moved in a shot
block by Graham. Nice plays. They took that out of
the corner. Yeah, and Gorba Tanco using that strength and
body to put herself in position to get a drive off.
Speaker 13 (01:30:35):
Yeah. They shot put the heck of a pad sieve
there to keep it on the net.
Speaker 9 (01:30:38):
Bot her back in the lineup after being hurt, and
Wisconsin turns and Hall tried to reach it. But the
nic thing will be called against the Wisconsin Badgers. So
far they haven't listed as an unassisted goal. The third
of the game by Scanneal her thirteenth of the year,
(01:31:01):
also scoring Vivian Jungles her fourth of the year, and
O'Brien for the Badgers her twenty fifth of the year.
Minnesota with a couple of goals, one scored by Frankel
and the other one by Boving And it's good out
of the front, Ava McNaughton watching at goloose and whistle
and play is going to be stopped. Eight forty one
(01:31:25):
remitting and we're going to take a break. This is
Wisconsin Badger women's hockey.

Speaker 9 (01:32:35):
We are in Delotes, Minnesota, Mark Greenhall along with Paul Brown,
Zach Cloft As we are in the second period here
with Wisconsin taking the lead. Badgers had the lead in
the first period at nine to twelve of the period.
Minnesota came back at nine thirty two and tied it,
(01:32:57):
and then at ten or sixteen fifty eight in thet
they took a two to one lead.
Speaker 5 (01:33:02):
So far.
Speaker 9 (01:33:03):
Here in the second period, Badgers have put a couple
up on the board and now lead three to two.
In the face off Circleage Huber and the draw one
to the stick of Harvey. Badgers pick it up and
clear it. They move it up ice and was Nevitch
was bumping into one of the Gophers there at.
Speaker 13 (01:33:23):
The blue line.
Speaker 9 (01:33:23):
No off off ice or off side called and controlling
it back down on the corner. Chasing it down is Huber.
Huber around on the far side over to Wasnvitch. They
try to play it in the neutral zone. The Gopher's
looking to set it up, looking to tie the game
here Wisconsin's Wasnvitch looking.
Speaker 13 (01:33:44):
For help to clear it.
Speaker 9 (01:33:46):
But with it Huber off on the pass, there's a
drive and the McNatt watching the traffic, loves it to
her left and we'll have a stoppage of play. Wiseley
covered that puck up just to the left of the
left pole, covered it level beach off.
Speaker 13 (01:34:02):
On our end man.
Speaker 9 (01:34:05):
Ava is a finalist for the National Goalie of the Year.
She's one of three candidates for that position. Gas Cone
of Minnesota Duluth is the second one and the third
one is the goaltender I forget if it's Cornell or Colgate.
They are the top three. Ava has only giving up
one point eleven goals per game, or save percentage of
(01:34:28):
second in the country. She leads with shutouts with a
total of eight. And it's going to be played along
the boards on the far side over trying to control it.
With it Lindsey and Wisconsin works it through center ice
and this is Gorba Tanko coming in off on the wing.
Drop the pass that's intercepted by Minnesota. Back come the
(01:34:51):
Gopher Christ in of the line along with Graham. Graham
works the right corner, Badgers along the back wall, turn
and try to bring it up out. Lindsey looks to
hold it in and with Venusio with it one arm.
Lonk up Ice on the lead over to Laylah Edwards.
Speaker 13 (01:35:09):
Comes in over the line. Layla pulls the triggered idea
the fissed the corner yep, just a little wide, but
a great idea.
Speaker 9 (01:35:16):
And back over to Potter. Potter played it to the
blue line of the Gophers, intercepted there and coming back
whistle and play stopped at the blue of Wisconsin.
Speaker 15 (01:35:27):
Yeah, I like, I think a shot off of Leila
Edwards stick is a good play anytime.
Speaker 9 (01:35:32):
You know, Layla is number two in the country with
thirty goals scored, she's second in points in the country
with a total of sixty five. And Wisconsin works it
up ice. This is simson of the line with Eden
and along with Bonusio, they carry it on the rush
(01:35:53):
into the zone. Potter goes behind that turned and tried
to wrap it around and the Gophers breakdown and they'll
clear it to the blue line of Wisconsin, picked up
by Sims.
Speaker 13 (01:36:04):
Sims with it angled.
Speaker 9 (01:36:05):
It off the sidewall and backhanded by O'Brien, and Eden
chases it down in the corner, back over to O'Brien.
O'Brien and Eden play behind that a Minnesota regroups there
and looks at the clock with six thirty remaining, Badgers
leading it three to two in the second period. Shots
(01:36:26):
are eighteen twenty one edge Gophers and it's going to
roll back down in the corner of the Wisconsin zone
a Murphy hustling back. Ad will have an icing call.
Speaker 15 (01:36:41):
Yeah, it looks like they're going to face it off
here just to the I believe to the left, to
the right of Anna Clark.
Speaker 9 (01:36:52):
Badgers will hap on the bus after the game and
head back to Madhound and get ready for the selection
should show, which will take place from tomorrow. And they
know that they're going to be in Madison at Lebon Arena.
Speaker 13 (01:37:07):
It'll be interesting to see who the field is comprised of.
Speaker 9 (01:37:09):
Paul around on the far side. And if they win
on Saturday, they go to the national Final four, which
would be nice.
Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
Sure what.
Speaker 9 (01:37:20):
They already lead the country with seven titles, but number
eight wouldn't be bad.
Speaker 15 (01:37:26):
I never would get old. I know I'd take another
one if we could get it.
Speaker 9 (01:37:30):
By the way, the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships
are going to be held in April. You want to
know how many Badgers are on the team. Well, let's
start with Harvey's on the team.
Speaker 13 (01:37:45):
Eden's on the team, Edwards is on the team, Simms
is on the team.
Speaker 9 (01:37:52):
Ava McNaughton's on the team, and you've got former Badgers
comfort along with rote of curl Hillary Knight and Wilgrin.
That means out of the twenty five person roster, nine
of them will be Badgers. That's quite amrientation for the
university of which team Wisconsin much.
Speaker 13 (01:38:14):
Where are they going to be held at this year?
Speaker 9 (01:38:17):
I think it's somewhere over in czech I think, yeah, right,
somewhere over there.
Speaker 13 (01:38:23):
Yeah, I should know it. I don't fall I'm sorry
around on the far side over to try and control it.
Speaker 9 (01:38:27):
Czechnia. Is there a Czechnia for someplace like that? Is
it part of Czechoslovakia?
Speaker 4 (01:38:33):
I have no idea.
Speaker 13 (01:38:34):
Well, now it's it's different.
Speaker 15 (01:38:36):
Now it's there's Slovakia, and then I think there's czech
I think, I think that's where it is.
Speaker 13 (01:38:41):
But you know, it used to be simpler when I
was younger, Which is Czechoslovakia or anything? I got trouble
saying normal names bad scrabble draw there and.
Speaker 9 (01:38:53):
Five thirty six remaining in the period based off coming
up next year is going to be in an interesting
year with the Olympic team and out of the far
side and going over to control it, trying to pick
that up. Wisconsin controls it. Here's Eden right on with
a drive good drive there and play along on the
(01:39:15):
far boards over to try and control it, moving it
in back and a nice play by O'Brien and get
Minnesota a little careless in front of their own man.
You're in a couple of situations in this game. Back
to the point and Harvey with it. She lifts a
little chip, so to speak, and Jungles and abound was
(01:39:36):
O'Brien right in front, but she couldn't get the puck
and lift it up over the goaltender.
Speaker 13 (01:39:41):
Son of a gun.
Speaker 15 (01:39:41):
It was a shot by Jungles and a rebound by O'Brien,
and that quite.
Speaker 9 (01:39:46):
Badgers go over to pick that up. They'll try to
play it ahead and Simms was waiting at the line,
but a nicing will be called and that'll bring the
face off back in the zone of Minnesota. It is
purely speculation, but there is talk that a next year's
Olympic team there could be anywhere.
Speaker 13 (01:40:05):
From four to six Badgers on that team.
Speaker 15 (01:40:08):
Yeah, and they're going to do it a little different.
They're not going to house the right take them away
for the whole year, you know, different intervals during the
season though.
Speaker 9 (01:40:15):
Around on the far side. I wonder how that'll work.
Speaker 13 (01:40:18):
Yeah, that'll be interesting. I don't know. Probably it's the
first time the.
Speaker 9 (01:40:21):
Yeah do that and play in front of the Badger
bench on the far side. We've only had two penalties
called in the game. Very clean game. Shots are twenty
one a piece. Badgers finally caught him. Minnesota's leaden shots
throughout the game, but the Badgers laid three to two
on the scoreboard.
Speaker 13 (01:40:40):
That's the important one.
Speaker 9 (01:40:42):
Yes, it is around of the far side and Wisconsin
looking for their thirty fifth win of the year against
one loss and two times and Wisconsin around the boards.
They've also won eight in a row against Minnesota. And
coming in over the line here edwards with it edwards
around in behind, in front they got haul, they couldn't
(01:41:05):
get her the pass and the Gophers turned and coming
up Ice contrave the same tempo that they had in
the fred shots for a while there and now we're
up for all but and coming through it's going to
be Cassie Hall comes in over the line, pulls up
down in the corner. Badgers are going to change up well.
Hall tried to work it to the net. Nevitch comes
(01:41:27):
into the zone. Try to hold it there and right
back to the point. They hold it in. Murphy drove
it wide. It's played along the boards near side Potter
back over to Murphy. Murphy cycles it behind the that
Badgers rolled a couple of players to the near boards,
try to control it down in the Cornersnevitch tried to
(01:41:47):
work away from the check, kind of pinned in the
corner and everybody jamming at it, trying to bring it
out on that little scum. The Gophers clear it and
they'll move it up Ice and they try to play
it bad going down and trying to pass the buck
was Wepington and Wisconsin loses control of it. Here's Booving
(01:42:08):
moving it around. There's a shot high.
Speaker 13 (01:42:10):
Of the golf.
Speaker 9 (01:42:11):
Yeah, Eva got that one here coming back up Ice
two thirty five, reminting badgers coming over the line. Was
nettch with it down in the corner over the picard
in front was Potter, but they couldn't get the pass
to her. Booving turns up the near wing on the
lead pass. Abby Murphy goes down. Badgers will turn and
(01:42:32):
try to bring it out on the break with it
as Potter. Potter comes rink wide in the pass and
it's picked up at center ice and driven by Murphy
down in the zone down the far side, Sims looking
for Eden.
Speaker 13 (01:42:46):
No, they had O'Brien in front.
Speaker 9 (01:42:48):
He couldn't get it through traffic, and the Gophers play
it on the wing in the corner on the near side.
Eden working hard trying to free it, flipped it around
on the back wall over to Murphy in the corner.
Speaker 13 (01:43:00):
Murphy on the play.
Speaker 9 (01:43:01):
On the breakout, Gophers look to set it up intended
for Lindsey. On the play to Hubert comes in over
the line given go to Lindsey. Badgers try to take
it away, held in and there is a heavy check
on Murphy by Eden.
Speaker 15 (01:43:17):
Yeah, you know, I wish it was just coincidental contact.
But Eden was just stronger than Murphy and she put
her right at her back. So lady Eden will be
going to the box for two minutes here.
Speaker 9 (01:43:33):
That's going to give the Gophers a power play opportunity
and a chance to tie the game here.
Speaker 13 (01:43:42):
Checking.
Speaker 9 (01:43:42):
Okay, So Wisconsin picks up their second penalty of the
game and their time out called for television here.
Speaker 15 (01:43:52):
You know, Paul, you were saying, uh uh, you know
with the peace that they were just we're beating him.
Speaker 13 (01:44:00):
To fifty fifty.
Speaker 15 (01:44:01):
Yeah, this period we work in the first period exactly
doing more of that. Now, need to continue to do that, Yeah,
you have to.
Speaker 13 (01:44:09):
You have to against a team like Minnesota.
Speaker 9 (01:44:14):
In the all time series between the Minnesota and Wisconsin,
the Badgers are one game behind and that they have
met one hundred and this is the one hundred and
thirtieth meeting. Well, Badgers have won fifty six, lost fifty
seven and sixteen have ended in a tie. However, in
(01:44:35):
the last twenty six games, Wisconsin is seventeen five and
four and they've won the last eight in a row.
And since sixteen seventeen season they are twenty seven ten
and eight. And I give those stats attention. Larry Tiziani
had TPC golf course. Larry's a Gopher graduate, okay, and
(01:44:59):
he's all he's bragging about Minnesota sports. So I just
want to clarify, right where who's won more national tournaments?
Speaker 13 (01:45:10):
There you go.
Speaker 9 (01:45:11):
You got the state of Minnesota, which is the hockey state, right,
and the Gophers have had a program since the thirties
and the Badgers in the late sixties.
Speaker 13 (01:45:20):
But one team has one more championship than the other. Yeah,
that's for Larry, just.
Speaker 15 (01:45:26):
Keeping the record street right, Paul, I love it.
Speaker 13 (01:45:30):
Base off coming up back in the Badgers zone. O'Brien
in the circle.
Speaker 9 (01:45:34):
Man, Let's see who wins that draw. The Gophers do
and the play it comes back over tomorrow they work
the wing back to the point in the past Minnesota
with a power play situation and I'm controlling it there
at Premorano over to Abby Murphy. Abby little pass which
was deflected but held in by Morrow. Back over to Murphy.
(01:45:56):
Murphy and the nearest circle back out on top. They're
trying to set it up on the play tomorrow. They
cycle it around on the far side. Gophers now try
to move it in deeper towards the zone. They got
Murphy out on top and there's a drive and inspired
why of the goal.
Speaker 13 (01:46:13):
Came off the back wall really hard and Hubert and
a shot at the hall it.
Speaker 9 (01:46:21):
And the Gophers have tied the game and they get
a deflection and it went over McNaughton. They hit the goal.
Speaker 15 (01:46:30):
Yeah, it just had a fluttered back into play from
behind the net and I think it went off somebody
one of our players stick a little bit and then
got airborne and maybe off the backside of Ava McNutt.
Speaker 9 (01:46:46):
Oh.
Speaker 15 (01:46:46):
Looks like it went off of maybe even Leilah Edwards
there she was attempting to defend him.
Speaker 9 (01:46:54):
Nineteen or seventh the time of the period, and the
Minnesota ties it up, and so that penalty by Eden
costs the Badgers. The power play goal by Minnesota's son
of a guy around down in the corner and back
over to try and pick it up. We're going to
close it out the way it looks with a three
to three tie after two periods of play. That was
(01:47:17):
a power play goal by Minnesota ninety six. That is
uh Milankova gets the goal, an assistant goal for milan Kova,
and the Gophers have tied the game, and the Gophers
will chase it back down on their own zone coming
(01:47:39):
up I ice on the far side, Badgers try to
pinch and hold it in, maybe get one more opportunity
here and played down in the corner over to try
and control it. Got a lot of players there going,
and we've ended the second period as it is, milan
Kova with the goal, her sixteenth goal of the year,
(01:48:00):
and a tie game on a power play goal there Greeny, Yeah, So.
Speaker 15 (01:48:05):
After two periods a shots or even at twenty two.
The goals are even at three twenty minutes. To determine
who's gonna winness soccer, well, two very good teams out
on the ice, and he's right.
Speaker 9 (01:48:17):
Maybe decided in the third period. Maybe over time, we'll see,
We'll take a break. This is Wisconsin Badgers Women's hockey. Hi.

Speaker 4 (01:50:32):
I'm joining out by senior Director of Development at the
Alzheimer's Disease Research Center of You to Be Madison, Steve Raimi.
Speaker 5 (01:50:37):
Mister Rayman, thanks so much.
Speaker 13 (01:50:38):
For being with us.
Speaker 5 (01:50:39):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 13 (01:50:40):
Great to be here.
Speaker 4 (01:50:41):
We've been talking all year about the partnership between you
UW Athletics excuse me, and the initiative to end Alzheimer's
Goldsprocure dot org is the website where people can go
and make a donation. Tell us a little bit about
how you got involved with Alzheimer's research in your professional capacity.
Speaker 29 (01:50:55):
I got involved as my grandmother actually passed away from
bascare dementia when I was in my twenties, and that
really inspired me. When I had the opportunity to fundraise
on behalf of Alzheimer's. Here auw got me inspired to
help try to make a difference and ultimately find a
care for this disease.
Speaker 4 (01:51:14):
That's fantastic. Paul Brown is our wonderful play by play broadcaster.
He often talks about the personal impact of Alzheimer's. His
wife died of the disease many years ago. It's not
just the patient, but it's the person's family, friends, loved
ones who are all affected as well. Are there aspects
of this research that deal not just with the disease itself,
but also with those who are affected by proximity to
it or providing care to those who are affected by it.
Speaker 24 (01:51:35):
Well, you know that this disease is extremely complex.
Speaker 29 (01:51:39):
Isn't just a person's hereditary but also a person's lifestyle,
their environment. There's many factors that play into a person's
risk for developing this disease.
Speaker 5 (01:51:50):
And so if you can.
Speaker 29 (01:51:52):
Socialize, exercise, control your high blood pressure, you cholesterol, that
all plays that all plays positive in terms of your
ability to prevent this disease.
Speaker 5 (01:52:06):
Wonderful. There's another fundraiser for the initiative put out by
doctor Bill Stork.
Speaker 4 (01:52:10):
It's called Mind over Mountains in promoting that event, he
said that he told you that there isn't time to
save his brain, but he hopes his children don't have
to deal with this disease. In response, you told him Bill,
it may not be too late for you. That's how
close we are. I thought that was an incredibly encouraging statement.
Can you give us a little insight into what you
meant when you said that?
Speaker 5 (01:52:27):
Absolutely?
Speaker 29 (01:52:27):
So, at UW, there is tremendous drives being done in
terms of developing a blood test, actually finding biomarkers in
the blood that actually is able to detect the proteins
building the brain, and actually being able to build a
risk profile, so when you're in your forties to determine
(01:52:48):
what is your risk for developing your disease based on
your family history, your personal health. And so what's amazing
about this is that we found at UW that this disease,
by time someone presents symptoms, this disease has been building
in the brain over twenty years.
Speaker 5 (01:53:05):
So think about this.
Speaker 29 (01:53:07):
If you can start to take preventive measures twenty years prior,
controlling your blood pressure, controlling your cholesterol, exercising eating right,
you could delay and prevent these symptoms.
Speaker 12 (01:53:18):
From presenting themselves.
Speaker 29 (01:53:21):
And so that's why I meant by Bill, doctor Strylan
Johnson is actually leading a person with's kind of study
looking at biomarkers in the blood and actually.
Speaker 12 (01:53:30):
Being able to detect this.
Speaker 29 (01:53:32):
Disease in a living person instead of understanding this disease, Postmart, that's.
Speaker 4 (01:53:37):
Fantastic news to hear. We're speaking with Steve Ramig. He's
the senior director of development at the Alzheimer's Disease Research.
Speaker 5 (01:53:43):
Center of you to B. Madison. Early in the season,
I spoke with.
Speaker 4 (01:53:45):
Doctor Howard Bailey, who was then getting ready to retire
from his leadership of the Carbone Cancer Center, and one
of the things I asked him was what young people
who are interested in using their professional lives to fight
cancer should look into in terms of fields of study
and careers.
Speaker 5 (01:53:57):
I'll ask you the same thing about Alzheimer's.
Speaker 4 (01:53:59):
For those in our audience or young talented and dedicated
to pimeless disease, how would you guide them and what
to study and what to do?
Speaker 29 (01:54:06):
Boy Well, I tell you gerontology is a field that
desperately needs more people. As we are, we have an
aging population, we don't have enough caregivers we don't have
enough geriatoricians helping to diagnose that disease to support this
agent population. So if you're interested in the medical sciences,
I tell you looking looking at being a geriatorician, looking
(01:54:31):
at being someone who can help care for someone in
a in a hospital facility. We need more workers to
help support an agent population.
Speaker 4 (01:54:40):
It's it's a it takes an entire kind of They
sometimes talk about a whole of government approach.
Speaker 5 (01:54:46):
And here it's it's a whole of society approach.
Speaker 4 (01:54:48):
We need nurses, we need CNA's, we need doctors, we
need researchers. For people who are who are looking at
from the standpoint of a family, what kind of resources
out there for people who are dealing with this? And
now where would you, guys, than the loved one has
a new diagnosis, who should they look to?
Speaker 5 (01:55:02):
Who should they talk to? Where can they find more information?
Speaker 29 (01:55:05):
Absolutely so, if they're if they're wanting to seek more information,
you can go to our website which is ie A
dot wisk dot edu. That is our website that provides
not only fundraising opportunities where people get involved and help
fundrais to support the research, but there's also tools in
which they can learn about helpful tips and tactics to
(01:55:26):
help care for one that diagnosed by dementia. Also constantly
making sure that you're being a strong advocate in talking
to your position and asking questions about how can you
help care for your loved one and also your Wisconsin
unique where we have aging and disability research centers throughout Wisconsin.
Connecting with age and disability research center in your area.
(01:55:51):
They can also help you with providing community resources.
Speaker 12 (01:55:54):
For you and your loved one.
Speaker 4 (01:55:55):
That's wonderful and you mentioned your website before I talked
about goalspecure dot org. People out there, whether they're affected
or not, who want to get involved, want to donate,
want to.
Speaker 5 (01:56:04):
Help this wonderful cause. Where should they go? How can
they help out?
Speaker 29 (01:56:07):
Well, first of all, you can go to goalsfacured dot
org as right now the matching dollars their matching donations
dollar for dollars hitting trying to hit that goal of
forty thousand dollars as Paul Opark Bank in our Old
park Place and others have done great jobs with helping
support raising twenty thousand dollars in matching gifts. You can
(01:56:29):
also go to IA dot wisk dot du to also
make a donation as well.
Speaker 5 (01:56:34):
That's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (01:56:35):
So all right, well, we've talked about all the resources
out here, and I'm curious what you see is the
future of Alzheimer's and other dimensions going forward. My daughter
is four, I'm in my forties, my parents are in
their seventies. Looking at it from these different generational perspectives,
where do you see our research, treatment, and hopefully prevention
or cure of this disease in the future.
Speaker 29 (01:56:53):
Well, the great thing is UW is one of thirty
seven NIH designated Centers for Excellence for Alzheimer's research, the
only one in the state of Wisconsin. Grazing about that
is really in the pack in trying to understand how
this disease presents itself early on, how do we prevent
this disease, and then also how do we provide preventive
(01:57:15):
measures like early watching your weight, controlling a cholesterol and
also introducing medicines to help prevent this disease. And so
that's what's exciting is that we're looking at this from
many different approaches. It isn't just one silver bullet, but
that we hopefully will understand that if we can detect
this disease. We're going to be able to have strategies
(01:57:37):
help prevent this disease in a person from developing symptoms
of Alzheimer's.
Speaker 4 (01:57:43):
That's fantastic news. Just to close things out, I'll bring
it back to hockey for us. You told me that
your sister in law lives in the Midgean Badgers are
taking on the Midgie State today. I know you focus
mostly on Alzheimer's, but to put on your hockey half
for a second, who do you like today?
Speaker 5 (01:57:57):
The Badgers of the Beavers.
Speaker 14 (01:58:00):
I me come out.
Speaker 1 (01:58:00):
Let's be honest.
Speaker 29 (01:58:01):
I mean, if they don't win by four goals, then
you know it's a disappointment. But I mean the women
have been doing amazing throughout the year. They've been strong,
they've been coordinated. I can't see a win not happening tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:58:15):
Outstanding well, Steve Reimig, the senior director of Development for
the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, UW, thanks so much for
being with us.
Speaker 5 (01:58:21):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (01:58:23):
Whistling.
Speaker 20 (01:58:25):
It's fine when the seven Q cartoon characters are blowing
a tune, but if you hear it coming from your
drafty windows, you know that shrieking sound means Mother Nature

a rapid loss of your warm energy inside.

Speaker 23 (02:00:17):
Michael Ramo starts pen producly through five o'clock Sunday.
Speaker 1 (02:00:20):
This is ten seventy the Jay.
Speaker 4 (02:00:26):
Welcome back everyone, Sexy left with you and studio. Paul
Brown and Mark green Hall are on the road to
d Loooth at Amzoil Arena where it is all tied
up between the Badgers and the Gophers three to three
After two periods in Paul. Very even statistically so far,
twenty two shots on goal for both of these teams,
twenty six face off wins for the Badgers, twenty from Minnesota,
thirty nine total shots for Wisconsin, thirty eighth from Minnesota.
(02:00:47):
But the big difference and the reason we're tied, is
that Minnesota was able to convert one of their two
power plays into a goal at the end of that
period off the Lacy Eden body checking call.
Speaker 9 (02:00:57):
Yeah, and there as we mentioned previously, Minnesota is confident
they have all of their players back, They have one
minor injury to Connor who did not play in this game,
and they feel good about their position. They feel that
they're going to be a top four seed, which will
(02:01:17):
host then for them at that point and put them
in a nice position where they potentially could be playing
in their own building for a national title. And when
you look at what the potential matchups might be, I
don't think it's unrealistic to think that three of the
teams in the Frozen four. Obviously things could change, but
(02:01:38):
it could be the ones we've been talking about all year.
That's Minnesota, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. If everything goes as
planned for all three of those.
Speaker 4 (02:01:47):
Schools very much so, and you mentioned fighting hard that
Gophers very much are doing that. But I wanted to highlight,
as you guys did when it took place, Maggie Scannal's goal.
That was a pure effort goal by a freshman player
who has done so much work this year, but seeing
her fight her way through two players and then deliver
a beautiful backhanded shot that was one of the nicest
(02:02:09):
and strongest goals I think I've seen all season.
Speaker 9 (02:02:11):
Yeah, without a doubt, and she is when you look
at where she started the year with two other freshmen
on the fourth line, and obviously you can tell the
coaching staff is gaining a lot of confidence in her
because they're starting to use her in other situations, not
just as a fourth line player.
Speaker 4 (02:02:31):
She's really got a lot of talent. And you've seen
a lot of these freshman Badgers, including him of Venusio
who got her first goal last night, do a lot
of work. I'll turn it back over to you and
Mark have a great third period, And I'm Wisconsin.
Speaker 9 (02:02:42):
And back is Granny from the locker room. And strategically,
what are we thinking here?
Speaker 15 (02:02:48):
Well, just you know, taking care of the puck getting more,
even more shots on neck. You know, we'd like to
think that we're in better physical condition than the are soul.
If we w hard on everything, you know, maybe tired
them out.
Speaker 9 (02:03:00):
I'll tell you what, Abby Murphy is an agitator. But
that one, that time it worked, Yeah, because they there
was a penalty called. Then somebody retaliates against her, and
all of a sudden, bam, there's a powerplay goal.
Speaker 13 (02:03:15):
Yeah, and the official had to call that one.
Speaker 5 (02:03:18):
You know.
Speaker 15 (02:03:18):
Yeah, I'm not going to blame it on the guy
wearing this person wearing the stripes. So but yeah, and
then they then they capitalized on their power play to
notch it up at three.
Speaker 13 (02:03:30):
So many minutes to determine this.
Speaker 9 (02:03:32):
Yeah, when the badger's here in the third period, we'll
be skating from our right to our left. As you
take a look at your radio'dial, the Minnesota Golden Gophers
will be going from left to right will begin the period.
Everybody had full strength. And on that last goal, by
the way, they did add one assist, but one only,
(02:03:53):
and that went to Hubert who helped out on the
goal that was scored to buy Milancho boom. So we'll
see what happens here in the third period. Hopefully the
Badgers can pick up the victory. They've got a non
beaten street going of twenty three games they've won the
last eight they've played against Minnesota.
Speaker 13 (02:04:16):
Abby Murphy is out with Huber and.
Speaker 9 (02:04:18):
Moving against Sims, O'Brien and Eden for the Badgers back defensively,
and it's going to be played back down around the
boards on the far side, going over to pick it up.
Wisconsin turning coming up Ice. They control it, they come
in over the line. It's going to be played back
(02:04:39):
down in the corner around the boards on the far side.
Wisconsin going back with Sims, Stems moving the puck out
on the brake, tried to hit O'Brien, intercepted by Abby Murphy,
tipped away by Harvey, cleared up Ice and with it
as Eden Aiden comes into the line with a drive
and it's kicked out by the old tender. Clark comes
(02:05:02):
back to the neutral zone. A Murphy tried to pick
it up, playing and with it as Sims slides it
around on the far side. Badger's potter angled it off
the sideboards. On the play, I had to Edwards Edwards
to Murphy Badger's back Gorbatanko in the neutral zone, covers edwards,
moving it to the blue line in over the line
(02:05:23):
of Minnesota back over the hall shut it and it
was wide left. It comes back, Minnesota turns. They move
it up ice on the break in of the line
with it as hemp back in behind it. Then a
Badger goes down Minnesota's setting it up. They've got hemp
in front of the net. They try to set it
up and the play is blocked and the Badgers will
(02:05:46):
turn edwards looking for the outlet on the pass. Wisconsin,
we'll flip it up and it went out of play
and we'll have a face off coming up.
Speaker 15 (02:05:57):
Potter went down behind the net there, though he might
be in trouble when they got the loose puck there
and work it toward the goal, but we're able to
keep it out of there, so.
Speaker 9 (02:06:06):
The face off will be brought back down in the
zone of Wisconsin eighteen twenty seven or remitting in the
third period of play, Mark directing traffic over by the
Badger bench. They're pointing out something that they're potentially seeing,
and in the face off circle it's going to be
Milankobu who scored the third goal.
Speaker 13 (02:06:28):
For Minnesota, and it's going to be set up.
Speaker 9 (02:06:31):
That is Graham. Graham with a shot and coverage in
front of McNaughton. Badger's trying to work it out of
the zone and it's picked up by Percard Picard coming up.
Ice played it in over the blue line. Chase back
down in the corner. Graham over to pick that up.
Badger's at the point hold it in. Kot Lowski with
a shot steered away by Graham. Raybound is cleared, parking
(02:06:55):
in with it, parking in on the plate of the
blue line of Wisconsin on the near side hand right,
turned and fired it down deep in the zone.
Speaker 13 (02:07:04):
More over to pick it up.
Speaker 9 (02:07:06):
They come out on the brake, controlling it as Wellington
off on the right side to the left over to Franco.
That's knocked down. McNaughton drove it away from in front
of the net. Badger's turn and out they come. They
break it through to center. Ice Eden comes in of
the line. Eiden trying to work through, got too deep,
went behind the net, rought over to Harvey. Harvey tried
(02:07:29):
to play it back. Minnesota turns and back tried to
go up Ice, Abby Murphy couldn't get the lead pass.
Badgers turning. They come out of the zone. O'Brian Loston
held in by Minnesota and the Badger's.
Speaker 13 (02:07:43):
Zone moving down in the corner.
Speaker 9 (02:07:45):
Gophers controlled it down on the far side to the
point in the pass and they drive it toward the
net and went wide and open was moving, but the
drive went way wide over to Harvey behind the net.
Speaker 13 (02:07:58):
Harvey tried to work it. Wisconsin will work the wing.
Speaker 9 (02:08:02):
O'Brien turn tried to bring it out and it's loose
on the board's near side. It comes to Sims, Sims
controlling the puck, working it up. Ice comes through neutral.
Sims comes into the Minnesota line, taking off the stick
of Sims. Now the Minnesota regroups. They bank it around
the boards on the break to lighten it. Light it
(02:08:24):
and plays it in over the Badger line. Hemp moving
it in toward the goal. Try to get off and drive.
He was tied up and the Badgers will turn, but
the Gophers hold it on the wing intended for Christ
around on the far side to the point on the path.
The Gophers in the corner. They'll set it up on
the far side. They come back out on top shot
(02:08:46):
right on. Parkington fired that. Parkington tried to hold the
dome and Minnesota back and they set it up. They'll
play it back down on the corner on the far
side and the Badgers zone. On fifteen fifty four remitting
in the third period, we're tying at three. Gophers try
to pick it up Gorba tangle four. Wisconsin off on
(02:09:09):
the breakover to Cassie Hall, turned back by Minnesota. They
come in over the line. There's another drive by milan Kovu.
Good pressure on the part of the Gophers here, Milankovu
down on the right side. Badgers turn it away and
right will flip it down in the corner and stronning
back is Premorano Premrana along the boards from Minnesota. The
(02:09:32):
play goes rink wide on the far side, picked up
and a right will backhand it in behind Clark. Clark
lets it go the Badgers at fifteen thirteen, remitting tied
at three. Third period shot so far or twenty five
twenty three in the game. Eating with a puck down
in the corner. Eating with it, tried to work her
(02:09:53):
way loose, coming over to help out. Eden lost control
of it on the boards Minnesota turns and they'll play
it up. Two neutral come to the Badger line, moving
with it. For the Gophers moving skates behind the At
works it around on the wing and the Badger's turn
and they'll come out with Sims. Sims on the far
side comes up, Bis plays at the Harvey who slides
(02:10:16):
it out on the brake over to Sims on the
lead to Eden eating at the blue line, lost control
of it. Harvey back pedaling off on the wing on
the far side, picking it up and Venusio will drive
it around the boards. It comes on the play and
Sims in front, try to give it to O'Brien and
it's going to be chased down in the corner. O'Brien
(02:10:37):
over to try to pick it up. Eden is there,
O'Brien looking to control it, Sims and O'Brien behind. Then
At coming to the point is Murphy to hold the zone.
Gophers trying to break it out. Murphy holds it in,
fires it right on. It's knocked down. We're at fourteen
minutes remitting in the third period, and the Minnesota will
(02:10:58):
chase it all the way back down in the Badger zone.
Speaker 13 (02:11:01):
We'll have an icing call well a couple of times. Sure,
we were trying to force some passes. I think through
the neutral zone that worked quite open, or.
Speaker 15 (02:11:11):
They got conducted and allowed the golfers to bring it
back in and try a few things, but came out unscathed.
Speaker 13 (02:11:18):
And we'll take it off as his own. Face off
here and see what we can.
Speaker 9 (02:11:20):
Do with it. Face off coming up back to the
left side of Graham in the Minnesota zone. Scannell tried
to win that draw. They got Gorbatanco and Edwards and
Scannell on a forward line comes around on the play
over the jungles with a shot right on. Yeah, he
shot by Dan. I'm then a look out. Here's a
break to Abby Murphy going in all alone.
Speaker 13 (02:11:41):
Shot.
Speaker 1 (02:11:42):
Oh wow, away.
Speaker 9 (02:11:44):
By Ava McNaughton on the breakaway. Abby Murphy is good
at that of lagging back and breaking out and they
get her that pass. Nice play by McNaughton there on
the breakaway.
Speaker 13 (02:11:58):
One on old breakaway by Murphy.
Speaker 9 (02:12:00):
Thirteen twenty Ramannic in the period and we're tied to three,
We're going to take a break.
Speaker 13 (02:12:05):
This is Wisconsin Badgers Women's hockey.

Good Amtoyo Arena and the Minnesota duluthe for this championship
game of the WHA Finals five face off and we're
tied at three apiece between the Minnesota and Wisconsin, and
(02:13:40):
we'll have the face off coming up just outside the
blowline of the Gophers and the Minnesota will set it up.
We have thirteen fifteen Rema Wright took it away, went down,
lost control of the park by parking, and Gophers in
their own zone set it up. They'll slide it out
on the break right side. Gophers come through hamp on
(02:14:02):
the off wing, fired it off the glass and whistle
and play going to be stopped here.
Speaker 13 (02:14:08):
Boy, I was wishing en Ray could have got at
on that other end.
Speaker 15 (02:14:12):
Other roughs there.
Speaker 9 (02:14:14):
Well, the Badgers have goals from sims her twenty fifth,
from Jungles her fourth, and Scannal her thirteenth of the year.
So maybe we can get one from O'Brien or Edwards
or Harvey.
Speaker 13 (02:14:29):
Or somebody to get that lead back. That would be nice.
Speaker 9 (02:14:32):
Yeah, anybody at this point over to win right and
they backhanded whistled. Play stopped at the blue line of
the Gophers and the Badgers are going to change up.
Minnesota will change up as well. Gophers beat Ohio State
in game one of this tournament. The latter game yesterday
(02:14:55):
late afternoon, have played about four point thirty. Ohio State
took a two to laid over the Gophers, but after
that it was all Minnesota over the Buckeyes of Ohio
State six unanswered goals and played back down in the corner,
back over the wave of Murphy around of the play
(02:15:15):
and turning trying to come out of the zone. Man
whether O'Brien comes in over the line, Eden is out
and covering up is Clark. I heard a rumor, incidentally,
and this came from the Minnesota play by play guy,
who's a great guy, and a couple of other people.
The coach of the Buckeyes was so unhappy with her
team last night that when they went to go to
(02:15:38):
get on the bus to go back to the hotel,
she said, I'm going alone, take me to the hotel
and then send the bus back to pick up the kiss.
Speaker 13 (02:15:48):
Oh wow, oh boy, that sends a little signal. Huh yeah, yep.
Speaker 9 (02:15:55):
Tell twelve twenty four remitting and it's set up by
Potter Wook popped over her stick comes out of the
zone and it's going to be played back down in
the corner, going back in behind.
Speaker 13 (02:16:09):
Now it's a moral with it moral.
Speaker 9 (02:16:11):
Paired defensively with Primorano and play comes in over the
line and controlling it as Murphy Ava Murphy up Ice
on the play, slides it around on the right side,
shot covered up and cleared from in front of the nap.
Minnesota turns and here's Abby Murphy comes in over the line.
Abby between the dots, went off with a backhander, steered
(02:16:34):
away from Huber and play along on the far side
and coming out towards center Ice. Abby Murphy's having a
big year. She's got sixty two points already this year.
Yeah she is, and back in behind controlling it. We're
down to eleven thirty four, remitting in the period in
a three to three game. Here and Potter goes down
(02:16:57):
in the corner. Gophers try to set it up in
the Backadgers zone. Murphy clears it around over to Laylea
Edwards Layla stick handle with the fuck lost control of
it of the blue line of the Badgers in play
is going to be stopped. Twenty eight to twenty six.
Badgers with a small edge and shots, but it's tied
(02:17:18):
at three apiece. Yeah, close as.
Speaker 15 (02:17:20):
You can get here, Paul. With eleven minutes and eighteen seconds.
Speaker 9 (02:17:25):
Left, the goal.
Speaker 13 (02:17:27):
Faced off coming up just outside the blue line.
Speaker 9 (02:17:33):
Eleven seventeen remitting in the third period, and it's going
to be played along the boards on the far side
over to control it, and the Badgers back in their
own zone look to pick it up and skating back
with it is lightening. Lightening comes with it, handles it,
plays it in over the line, knocked down, and Minnesota
(02:17:54):
tried to clear it. The Gophers and Cassie Hall behind
the net looking to try and play it out, and
the Gophers with pressure in the Badger's zone, Wisconsin works
it up the near side.
Speaker 13 (02:18:06):
Here's Edwards coming in over the line.
Speaker 9 (02:18:09):
Edwards with a shot high and why around on the
far side, trying to control it. Badgers look to hold
his zone, but comes back of the jungles in a
hurry to Harvey. Harvey cuts into the line, shot right
on and that was kicked away by the goaltender and
Edwards tripped up.
Speaker 13 (02:18:26):
They gonna call it, Wow.
Speaker 9 (02:18:29):
No call, They're gonna let him play around over to
Harvey as they took Leylea Edwards down that looked like
a pretty and trying to thread it through on the lead.
There was KK Harvey pass intended for in right Minnesota
turns and they come up to nearboards at center Ece.
Bonusio broke that up in right, tried to pick it up.
(02:18:51):
Chase down in the corner. Was Nevitch winning the battle?
Was Nevitch getting help to the point on the play
over the Venusio. Venusio became between the dots, batted it,
deflected and got down deep in the zone in the
corner and.
Speaker 13 (02:19:06):
The card had a rebounder almost trickled in around on
the far side.
Speaker 9 (02:19:10):
Bnusio will pick it up on the nearboards and she'll
drive it off the glass, roll it around the corner.
Badger's change up her fans, trying to bring some enthusiasm
to the game. Now, Venusio with it. We'll drive it
back down on the zone. It came off in behind
the app. Badger's eating with pressure, eating with it off
(02:19:30):
on the play Badger's habit O'Brien simms and eating on
the forward line. Whoa, they lifted eigh here and it
bounces that one almost hit the ceiling at the center.
Speaker 15 (02:19:40):
Ice went up next to the jumbo tron hanging over
the middle of the ice.
Speaker 9 (02:19:43):
Coming up, ice moral with it comes in over the
line and the Gophers are offside.
Speaker 15 (02:19:53):
Wow, looks like a TV time out here a little
bit huh, So we'll take another break.
Speaker 13 (02:19:58):

time around the boards on the far side, coming over,
trying to pick it up and with it. There's a
drive and it's blocked out in front of the goaltender
and Wisconsin moving up Ice Eden with it on the play,
gives it to O'Brien. O'Brien will work it in front
of the slot area. Minnesota turns and tries to pick
(02:21:41):
it up around on the far side. Huber with it.
They try to dump it out, but Harvey holds it
in over to Whedon who turned and played it behind
the goal, picked up by Morrow. Morrow is tied up
in the corner. Gophers shuffle it around back in behind
their own net, fire it out on the far wing.
It comes rink Wine to Murphy near side and she
(02:22:03):
drove it down in the corner, goes to the stick
of Harvey. Harvey looking for help and Harvey behind the
net has pinned, but gets the playoff on the wing.
Badgers turn and they come up the near boards at
center ice eight oh four, remitting in the period in
the neutral zone. Gophers come in over the line. Here's
(02:22:23):
hamp moving with Lindsey shot it wide around on the
far side. Christ out on that line. Badgers control it.
They'll work it out of their own zone. Coming through
center ice with it. Leyla Edwards comes in off the wing,
moving it in.
Speaker 13 (02:22:39):
Tried to get off a backander not quite to the point.
Speaker 9 (02:22:42):
There's Potter with a drive and that's deflected down in
the corner. Gorbatanko behind the goal. Leyla Edward's trying to
pick it up to the point on the play to
Murphy behind the net. The Gorbatanko tried to center it
out in front. Gopher's turn and they'll flip it up
the far side. Wisconsin goes back. They bring it around
(02:23:03):
over to Murphy. Murphy Throwson on the plays it back
in behind the goal. Coming around on the near side.
Gophers turn. They try to lead it out over to Franco.
Badgers with her card and Minnesota works it back in
over the line, coming in off the wing, controlling it
(02:23:23):
as miln kobu and went behind the dead They tout
on the far side back to the point there's a
drive by, parking in down to six forty nine remaining

fore check trying to hold Wisconsin pin them along on
the board's near side. They flip it up ice to
(02:23:45):
the blue line of the Gophers. Play continues. Minnesota turns
and the scramble Ford in neutral ice and skating back
is Potter and Potter in the corner. The Gophers hold
it there with moving moving circling looking for the outlet
on the pass, goes behind the net, moving will control
(02:24:05):
circles between the dots, pulls up, fires it right on
on the Badger's turn. Tried to bring it out and
it's chipped out, but it's held in by Morrow. They
go backside wing to booving shot kicked out by McNaughton,
and the rebound is played. As it rolls back down
on the zone of the Gophers. Turning there is Premorano.
(02:24:27):
Premorano Minnesota slides it out on the brake to Murphy.
That lead pass intercepted by Harvey, who drives it back
down in the corner on the near side, five point
forty four remitting here in the third period, we're tied
at three apiece and along the boards coming up ice Minnesota,
nice pass Christ with it and.
Speaker 13 (02:24:49):
Murphy looked like Murphy was offside.
Speaker 9 (02:24:52):
Oh whoa.
Speaker 15 (02:24:54):
And I think Venuzio is going to get a penalty
over there, chrysl if they're going to call it a
body check or what.
Speaker 13 (02:25:02):
But I think they're going to send Manuzio to the.
Speaker 9 (02:25:04):
Box for two minutes here, and that comes with five
twenty eight remaining in regulation time in a tie game
here fourteen thirty two, the time of the penalty, sending
the Gophers to the power play and an opportunity to
take the lead late in the third period.
Speaker 15 (02:25:23):
Did he indicate what it was for there? What he
finally called it?
Speaker 5 (02:25:27):
I couldn't tell.
Speaker 9 (02:25:30):
Whatever the call it's a manager a person. Is that
a bad thing to say? In a winds the galaxy?
The gal said boarded, yeah, and yeah.
Speaker 15 (02:25:43):
They even said it's the terms of you know, a
man advantage or whatever person advantage, player advantage.
Speaker 9 (02:25:49):
So let's see what the penalty killing unit can do
here controlling it. It's Milankobu face off coming to the
right sound on the penalty killed Minnesota on the power play.
They do have a power play goal here in this game.
They set it up on the far side five minutes,
(02:26:10):
sixteen seconds remitting so little patients tried to find that
opening yep with it as Moral back out on top.
There's a drive and it's pushed away. Badgers will turn
try to drive it out. Morrow holds it in, plays
it down in the corner.
Speaker 13 (02:26:25):
The Gophers with the advantage.
Speaker 9 (02:26:27):
They try to go back door, intended for Murphy, who
slides it back to the point. Look like it's Premorano
who held the zone back of the net going over
to pick it up as Milan Kobu back over to
the point on the pass to Primorano out on top.
Murphy with it back over to Premorano between the dots,
over to Murphy. Murphy stick haunting with a puck on
(02:26:49):
the far side down to one oh seven remitting between
the dots. Fired it kick by Ava McNaughton and it's
played around on the far side. Badgers having trouble getting
it out of their own zone. Gophers hold it in
around over Tomorrow, Morrow back out on top. They work
it around in a.
Speaker 13 (02:27:07):
Shot right on by Abby Murphy.
Speaker 15 (02:27:10):
What we're seeing here their power play of choice is
to have Murphy, who's a right hander, on the off wing,
you know, similar to like when you see a Vetchman
line up for the Capitals in the NHL, on that
off wing. Just a one timer when they get it
to her, similar to what Leila Edwards loves to do too. Yeah, exactly, yep, yep,
(02:27:32):
but a one timer there by Murphy on her off wing.
Speaker 13 (02:27:35):
And Ava made the save and no rebound.
Speaker 9 (02:27:38):
And another timeout is called.
Speaker 13 (02:27:40):
Though it looks like we're going to have a conversation
with the officials or what is the uh breaking action?
Speaker 9 (02:27:46):
Here be a television time out on a power play,
that would be interesting.
Speaker 15 (02:27:53):
Yeah, Usually you see the red light on to indicate
the team. Maybe there's I don't see it on, but
we'll see.
Speaker 9 (02:28:01):
Recapping the game, Sims got her twenty fifth goal of
the year for the Badgers to give the Badgers the
one to nothing lead in the first period. Franco tied
it from Minnesota with her third goal of the year
at nine to thirty two. Gophers had a two to
one lead with a goal at sixteen fifty eight, and
it was scored by Booming, the twelfth of the year
(02:28:24):
for her. In the second period, the Badgers got two
in a row, won by Jungles, her fourth of the
year at forty three seconds in. At eight oh four,
Scannals scored a goal, her thirteenth of the year. All
of the Badger goals are five on five. Then Eden
went in the penalty box at nineteen oh seven and
(02:28:48):
getting the goal was Milan Kovu. So the Gopher fans
and the Badger fans both cheering. The Gopher fans obviously,
come on, let's get a power play goal here. Penalty
killing unit for Wisconsin. They've got forty five seconds to
try to get.
Speaker 13 (02:29:06):
It out of the zone and Ryan gets it out.
Speaker 9 (02:29:09):
She dumps it and going back over is Hannah Clark,
the goaltender. Yeah, the Minnesota will leave it and they'll
start out of their own zone on the four check,
it's Waznevitch. Gophers play it past her. Aba Murphy comes
in into the line. Badgers try to chip it out.
Speaker 13 (02:29:27):
They hold it in.
Speaker 9 (02:29:28):
Hubert with it back out on top on the play
and controlling it there as Primorano comes around over to
Morrow Venusio getting set to come out in thirteen seconds.
Can they hold them off. We've got a three three
gayers here. They begin it along the wall and four
seconds Venusio they're going to open.
Speaker 13 (02:29:49):
The door and out she comes. No penalty or the
penalty time up.
Speaker 9 (02:29:54):
Venusio is checking off and the Badgers will change up
Hey and Abby Murphy with a backd when it behind,
picked up her own pass out in front, backhander in front.
Speaker 13 (02:30:04):
Steered away on the far side. Leyle Edwards.
Speaker 9 (02:30:08):
Boy, the Gophers have had the fuck down on the
zone for a long time, like it setting it up here,
go forwards.
Speaker 13 (02:30:16):
Adward's coming in over the line on the left.
Speaker 9 (02:30:18):
Sidewards with it between the dots, lost control of it.
Speaker 13 (02:30:22):
Gophers will turn.
Speaker 9 (02:30:24):
And they'll play it back. Rink one on the pass.
Gophers try to get the break. We're down to two
forty nine, remitting it regulation time. Abby Murphy looking for
the outlet on the pass, threads it through on the
lead to Christ Christ down in the corner, back to
the point in the past. It's controlled by lighting and
Bosh on the block and trying to play it ahead.
(02:30:47):
Lightening with it turned and angled it in over the
Wisconsin line. Gophers try to hold the zone two twenty four.
Remitting in the period, Badgers will bring it out of
the zone on the play.
Speaker 13 (02:30:58):
Jungles coming up.
Speaker 9 (02:30:59):
Once, drives it down in the corner, rolls from left
to right, and Wisconsin trying to hold the attacking zone.
Here they come up Ice in the neutral zone, take
it away by per Card. She played it in the
Minnesota zone. Badgers try to pick it up, controlling it
as Hemp camp on the plate of the near boards,
trying to lead it through to Huber and going back
(02:31:22):
is Kk Harvey. Harvey backpedals around on the far side
over the Jungles. Badgers look to break it out per
Card rink wide over to Harvey, moving it up the
right side, back handing it in behind the goaltender. One
forty two Remedican regulation time. We're tied at three apiece.
Minnesota looks and they clear it in over the line
(02:31:44):
and controlling it. Millan Kobu and it's going to be
played around on the far boards, back out on top Murphy.
Speaker 13 (02:31:50):
With a drive. Nice save there.
Speaker 9 (02:31:53):
Badgers come up ice controlling it. Here's Eden and trailing
as O'Brien. O'Brien try to go to or Betanco there's
a drive and went wide of the goal.
Speaker 13 (02:32:03):
One fourteen remitting in the third period, we're tied at three.
Speaker 9 (02:32:07):
Coming back in over the line, the Badgers controlled Venusio
with it. Venusio through center Rise, drove it in and
it's kicked away by Clark. One minute remaining in the
third period. We're tied at three, and KK Harvey will
chase it back and we'll have an icing called and
that'll draw the face off in the zona.
Speaker 15 (02:32:29):
Minnesota, man, I tell you got literally right down to
the buzzer and then something maybe huh maybe over seconds
to go and an offensive faceoff for the Badgers. Here,
see if we can make something happen with under a
minute to go.
Speaker 9 (02:32:44):
High Edwards is out, Harvey is out for the Badgers,
Sims is out, Edwards Jungles face off in the drawings.
It's going to be set up. Edwards with it off
in the play over the Harvey back out on top
over to Edwards. Johns with a drive and that was
steered away play along the board's near side. Sims back
(02:33:05):
out on top over to Harvey. Harvey tried to drive
it through. Minnesota intercepted that and they'll play it back
down to the Badger zone and we'll have another icing call.
Speaker 13 (02:33:18):
Man. Yeah, the Gophers were Evan nerd and the while there,
Paul and u It took the lead in shot at.
Speaker 15 (02:33:25):
Thirty three to thirty one in shots. Because Gilden was
half a minute to goal tight at.
Speaker 9 (02:33:31):
Three, they leave out Harvey and Jungles back defensively comes
out along with O'Brien and Wasnevich out for Wisconsin thirty
seconds you minting, here's eating with it.
Speaker 13 (02:33:45):

Badgers they are fired up.
Speaker 15 (02:34:08):
Oh what an effort, What a combination of people. I

roll you know on that it was a little wide,
and then O'Brien went and got it, slit it out front.
Waz is right there and the doorstep banged it home
just there separate times on the ball.
Speaker 5 (02:34:28):

Speaker 9 (02:34:31):

By the time of the.
Speaker 13 (02:34:42):

Speaker 9 (02:34:48):
And that's going to be set up and controlled, jungles
back on the front side and they'll flip it and
it goes up over the glass, and how.
Speaker 13 (02:34:56):
To play it eighteen seconds remaining. Oh, they're going to
face it off at our end. Uh yeah, at about
eighteen yeah.
Speaker 9 (02:35:08):
Wow man, oh man, Paul.
Speaker 13 (02:35:12):
It's about all a band could ask for in a
game like that, without a doubt.
Speaker 9 (02:35:16):
Wow.
Speaker 15 (02:35:17):
Our plays metally kill even shots, umbles, even gold bumbles.
Speaker 9 (02:35:21):
And in Minnesota, looking to set it up, they pulled
their goaltender.
Speaker 13 (02:35:25):
The Gophers control thirteen seconds a minute it out the
close in front.
Speaker 9 (02:35:29):
The Badgers will back ended out of the zone and
going back the Minnesota net is empty, and it's going
to be played back around on the far side, rise offside.

Speaker 13 (02:36:00):
Believable effort. Never gave up, never gave up?
Speaker 9 (02:36:04):
Are they a team of destiny?
Speaker 13 (02:36:06):
You begin to wonder things like that, you know, I
I just it tells me a lot about a team.
Speaker 15 (02:36:12):
When he came through this killing off penalties, you know, yeah,
and sticking with it, being down on the.
Speaker 13 (02:36:18):
Shot margin for a while and coming back and O'Brien
and to get the Badgers to come on. She wants
you to come on out. He's a true captain, that O'Brien.
Speaker 9 (02:36:28):
Then everything hands well.
Speaker 13 (02:36:31):
I might I might actually go down and join the
gang there in a while.
Speaker 9 (02:36:34):
Her fall.
Speaker 15 (02:36:35):

what are you thinking? I'm so excited I can't speak.
Speaker 9 (02:36:40):
Yeah, well, why don't you relax and just take it easy? Sorry,
all right, go down and enjoy the ceremony that's going
to be held here. The Badgers are winning the w
c h A Final five face off. Thank Paul, you
bet you? And uh wow, I tell you this one
was a lot of fun here and yeah, so that's
(02:37:06):
what we're waiting on. Greeney is so excited to leave.
Speaker 17 (02:37:10):
We let him go.
Speaker 9 (02:37:14):
Zach could jump in here from your end back in
the studios. That's pretty exciting stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:37:20):
That was an incredible goal. Lacey eden off the boards
to find O'Brien was great. And then O'Brien's passed through
the center to Usnevitch was incredible. That's what O'Brien's done
all year, Sarah was Nevitch to put yourself in the
right place to score. I see the referees are coming back.
Do they have a call for you?
Speaker 9 (02:37:37):
We're gonna see. Yeah, they're gonna face off just outside
the blue line. So if Mark is getting an explanation here.
But and when they put the music up with what
they asked the crowd to do, they take out.
Speaker 13 (02:37:54):
The whole scoreboard.
Speaker 9 (02:37:56):
So I'm not sure exactly what's left. I believe it's
about too seconds or so.
Speaker 4 (02:38:01):
On my TV feed, I have two point eight.
Speaker 5 (02:38:03):
That's what they're showing.
Speaker 9 (02:38:04):
And so, well, you've got to drop the puck and
get this over with, and it would be a great
victory for the Wisconsin Badgers. And they dropped the puck
and there it is the Wisconsin Bats. They get to
celebrate again. They'll tear on the ice one more time.
(02:38:27):
Here they get a double celebration.
Speaker 5 (02:38:30):
Oh win, so nice. They celebrated twice.
Speaker 9 (02:38:34):
And now they'll line up and O'Brien will probably hurriedly
get the Badgers to come out of that Minnesota, led
by Abby Murphy, they've already come out.
Speaker 13 (02:38:44):
There's O'Brien.
Speaker 9 (02:38:45):
See, she's gonna send them out and they're gonna line
up and shake hands. But Wisconsin, with a victory, is
now thirty five one and two on the year. Minnesota
drops to twenty eight eleven in one. But you know what,
those two teams that are shaking hands right now, they
(02:39:05):
may see each other again before this is all done
and over.
