thank you to Met's Plumbing and all of our sponsors
here on the program. All Right, Draft reaction yesterday, thoughts
on the way too early twenty twenty five drafts, some
thoughts on the NBA playoffs I did not get to
(01:48):
yesterday as well. Mike Youba Gamecockcentral dot Com also set
to join the program. But the biggest story of the
NFL Draft outside of for me, Jacksonville moving up and
giving an opportunity to Travis Hunter to play both sides
(02:10):
of the ball and help Trevor Lawrence Traves, CTNN and
the Jaguars out. That's that is certainly a tremendous storyline,
especially given the fact he was the fact that he
was the number two pick, but his teammate at Colorado
in his story dropping the way he did. Should Or
Sanders is another story, and there is a tie to
(02:31):
a former Clemson quarterback, right Deshaun Watson is the starting
quarterback at Cleveland, the expected starting quarterback at Cleveland. But
the Browns didn't just draft Shoudoor Sanders after he dropped
to the fifth round with the one hundred and forty
(02:51):
fourth pick, But they also were able to take Dylan
Gabriel in the third round with the ninety fourth overall selection.
And so the Browns select two quarterbacks, and I think
(03:17):
it begs the question whether or not Deshaun Watson will
be the quarterback in Cleveland any longer, or were these
moves made to give some wiggle room to the Cleveland Browns,
(03:42):
who enters a season where Deshaun Watson comes off of injury,
They've got an aging Joe Flacco, They've got an indiscript
Kenny Pickett at this point, and so what does that
(04:04):
say about where the Browns are perhaps betwixt the years
when it comes down to Deshaun Watson and his future
in Cleveland. Clearly, Deshaun Watson has not been the player
that he was before the off the field allegations and
(04:28):
incidents took place. It's almost similar to, in some respects
the Tiger Woods effect of the player that you allegedly
are off the field, and again allegations. You'll recall two
(04:48):
grand juries failed to indict him on the criminal complaints.
He was suspended from the league and had and face
to fine from the NFL and I believe the Players Association.
He resolved the civil lawsuits and went on from there.
(05:12):
But his career has really not gone well since those
issues came to the surface or were legitimized, or whatever
you want to call it. I mean, it's just not
(05:34):
the same player. In twenty eighteen, Deshaun Watson through for
foury one hundred and sixty five yards, twenty six touchdowns,
and nine interceptions. In twenty twenty, the year before the
(05:55):
allegations take place, he throws for forty eight hundred yards,
thirty three touchdowns, and seven interceptions since that time. Since
his return in twenty twenty two, Watson has thrown for
nineteen total touchdowns off set by twelve interceptions for a
(06:16):
grand total of like thirty three hundred yards. I mean,
he just has not been the same player. He's financially
paid like a top tier quarterback, but he plays like one.
This's worth being cut. And with two quarterbacks coming in
(06:36):
this season, and I would argue with the Browns performing
better a year ago with former Florida State quarterback Jamis
Winston leading the way when Deshaun Watson was out, I
think you have to legitimately say, has the best days
(06:57):
of Deshaun Watson passed him? And regardless of how much
money he makes, does he become expendable, tradable and all
of that for the Cleveland Browns if they can find
a way to move on from him. And believe you me,
(07:19):
as bad as things have been for Deshaun Watson, there
are teams that would take him. I mean, assuming they
had the room for him. There are teams that need
a quarterback, and you might be willing to roll the
dice on him. But was the draft that Cleveland put together,
drafting two quarterbacks an indicator that they are prepared to
(07:41):
move on from Deshaun Watson? And that, I think is
a question that we will have to continue to follow
throughout the season, because when you bring in two big
draft picks quarterback, regardless of how far should or Sanders dropped,
(08:06):
when you bring in capable players at the quarterback spot.
And Deshaun Watson is trying to rebound from an achilles
tear that he suffered back in January, he's expected to
miss a large part of the twenty twenty five season.
(08:29):
And with the time away from the suspension, to the
performance since the suspension to now potentially missing most of
this year, missing a portion of last year, Like, with
all of that, how valuable is he? And did the
(08:51):
draft picks that Cleveland made will they play well enough
assuming they get to go at some point to maybe
give the Browns an option to move on from Deshaun Watson?
You know, I think that Watson, unfortunately, with the allegations
(09:16):
and the uncomfortable nature of what said allegations are, has
made it difficult for some Climpson fans to really root
for him at the next level. And it's sad because
he remember yesterday we were talking about Hunter Renfro landing
(09:41):
with the Panthers. I mean, my wife saw that Renfro
was with the Panthers now and she texted me and said, oh, man,
I gotta go. I gotta go see a Caroline Panther
game so I can watch Hunter Renfro play again. And
I think about how the situation with Deshaun Watson. I mean,
(10:05):
he went from literally being like untouchable as a Clympson Tiger,
as a former Clympson Tiger, to a lot of people
don't want to have much to do with or to
talk about him, and all the attention got turned towards
(10:25):
Trevor Lawrence. And look, I don't claim to know the
ins and the outs of what took place and whether
or not the allegations are true or aren't. But much
like Tiger Woods's situation, once something like this happens, it's hard.
It is hard for people even if you are innocent,
(10:48):
and that's the thing, even if you were one hundred
percent innocent, it is hard for people to ever forget
about allegations like that, And that's that's something that if
you didn't do it, I would imagine emotionally is very
(11:10):
very difficult to deal with. But more on that for
another day. I guess my bigger question is what does
it look like for Deshaun Watson moving forward? There are
already articles out there saying, hey, Watson's played his final
game in the NFL. And I guess for you personally,
(11:34):
what kind of backstep have you had to take from
Deshaun Watson because of the allegations that you certainly would
not do if it were Big Tray of the Giant
killer who was in the conversation, you know what I mean,
(11:54):
or doing whatever activity Because I don't think anybody thinks
ill of people who root for Trevor Lawrence. But I
can assure you there are people that think ill of
people who root for Deshaun Watson. I mean, that's just
(12:17):
that's just a part of it. Unfortunately for Watson at
this point either way, did Cleveland's draft indicate that they
are ready to move on from dw four? And can
he land somewhere that allows him to revitalize.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
His image?
Speaker 2 (12:37):
And some of you will say Swanee. If it actually happened,
he'll he'll never be able to revitalize his image. And
I understand that too. A zero three four five zero
zero eighty six. All right, shifting gears just a little bit.
We'll keep with the NFL Draft front here for a
few more minutes. So you know the criticisms of mel
(13:01):
kiper Jr. And his I'm Gonna die on Shador Sanders Hill,
those criticisms abound all over the place, and much like
(13:22):
mel kiper Jr. There are plenty of other people out
there who attempt to piece together the information that they
believe would best indicate the way too early draft picks
for the twenty twenty six NFL Draft.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Well, look at what we have here.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
And so with that comes the list the way too
early mock draft. Now, there are several out there for
where they always come out of a day or so
after the twenty twenty five my draft. But to no
one's surprised the number one overall pick, according to on
(14:11):
three by the New Orleans Saints, who selected his grandfather
back in nineteen seventy one quarterback Arch Manning out of Texas. Now,
we haven't really seen Arch Manning but the belief is
(14:33):
that arch Manning is just going to come in and
Texas's offense is going to run like a sewing machine,
and he's going to be the next best thing since
slice spread. There's no guaranteeing that, right, you still have
to go out and earn it. According to on three,
(14:54):
with the second pick, they say the New York Jets
will select South Carolina quarterback Leonoris Sellers. So Leonoris Sellers
at number two. According to all three, Dane Brugler with
(15:21):
the draft at number three, he says, the New York
Giants will take Spencer Fano, in offensive tackle from Utah,
and at number four the defensive end TJ. Parker from
your Clemson Tigers. At number five, they've got Cleveland selecting
(15:41):
another quarterback in Penn State's Drew Awler. Then at number
six he got the Carolina Panthers taking Keldrick Falk, the
defensive tackle ont of Auburn. At number seven, the Raiders
taking Caleb Down's safety from Ohio State, number eight, Cayden Proctor,
the offensive tackle from Alabama. At number nine, Cleveland a
(16:05):
selecting offensive tackle Austin Barber from Florida, and at number
ten a little Clemson connection the New England Patriots selecting
mateo oo wee Ungala la defensive end out of Oregon. Now,
as for kay Klubnick and his draft status, according to Brugler,
(16:31):
Ky doesn't make the first round cut. Now, one man's
opinion certainly does not secure the bag of what is
going to happen. As a matter of fact, Fox Sports
projects that the Cleveland Browns will have the first pick,
and that the Browns will select another quarterback and it
(16:53):
will be Arch Manning out of Texas, and with the
second pick in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, the
New York Jets will select Clemson quarterback k Klubnick. That's
two drafts. One draft has Clubnick going second, the other
(17:13):
has the North Sellers going second, both of which, mind you,
in an odd way to the New York Jets. Now
New Orleans in this one would be projected for third.
They would select Caleb Downs, the safety of Ohio State,
and Tennessee would again select TJ. Parker from Clemson, giving
(17:34):
the Tigers two of the top four picks in the
twenty twenty six NFL Draft. That's the mock draft at
this point. According to Fox Sports. The Tigers would have
two players drafted in the way too early NFL Draft.
(17:55):
So I don't know about you. I don't know about you.
But that's probably part of the reason that we see
some people talking about Clemson with the sense of belief
that they very well could be back in the CODG
(18:15):
Football Playoff and maybe could make a run and win
the national championship. Some people think Clemson might be the
best team in the country because of that talent that
they've got on both offense and defense. We'll see a
lot of work left out there, a lot of meat
on the bone. Final little note here the ninth pick.
(18:36):
According to Fox Sports, South Carolina wide receiver Nick Harbor,
who they give a comp to DK Metcalf, picked by
the Las Vegas Raiders with the ninth pick in the draft.
They also have the Dallas Cowboys at fourteen, selecting Peter
(18:58):
Woods from Clemson, and then I think South Carolina quarterback
Leonora Sellers if I remember correctly, let me double check, Yeah,
he was not on that list. I guess it's whatever
floats your boat when it comes down the quarterback play.
(19:20):
We saw that with Shador Sanders or quarterback picks. We
saw that with Sanders a final thing. And I don't
know why I didn't give this to you, but Peter Woods,
I was selected in that first draft. I gave you
pre you know, with the twentieth pick by the Houston Texans.
So there you go, just a quick little nod to
(19:41):
some of the future selections according to multiple outlets. And
again we are a long way off, but a couple
of Tigers in the top four according to Fox Sports.
All Right, quick, bright, We'll turn our attention to something
I'm frustrated with about the NBA. I'll tell you what
it is when we get back. Clypson Sports saw the
(20:01):
show the Chase of south Land. All right, the NBA.
A look, I know my Los Angeles Lakers, sorry, excuse me,
I know our Los Angeles Lakers are in a bad spot.
I mean it's it's gonna be tough, sledding down three
(20:25):
games to one tomorrow night at ten pm on TNT.
At least The Lake Show has Luca and and Lebron
and they could certainly pull off a three game winning streak.
But man, when you watch the NBA and you see
(20:46):
how good Anthony Edwards is right now, I mean that
dude is playing incredibly well, and he's got the he's
got the killer instinct. But the good news is the
Lakers at home matchup predictor sixty one point two percent.
(21:06):
You win this game at home, you go back to Minnesota,
you sneak out there with a win. Then you're back
at home and probably have a similar chance to win
in terms of the percentage. And I told you all
season the West was as close as it could get.
I mean, the Lakers, the three seed, were fifty and
thirty two and Minnesota was the sixth seed and they're
(21:29):
forty nine and thirty three. A game difference twin being
third ninth or excuse me, third and sixth. Anyway, just
thinking about the game the other day on I guess
that was Sunday one sixteen to one thirteen the final score.
(21:56):
And I I don't I don't mind replay on I
think certain things. If I'm being honest, I just don't.
I don't mind replay on some things. Now I'm pretty
much against it where I would say I'd rather just
have the officials make mistakes, but a late deflection out
(22:21):
of bounds and we get that call, right, I'm okay
with that. Those don't bother me too much. But what
happened late in that game on Sunday that really grinds
(22:42):
my gears about the rules and officiating is this, with
ten seconds left, the Lakers are down one, fourteen, one thirteen,
and there's a drive to the basket by Anthony Edwards.
(23:09):
Lebron James strips the ball low, it goes out of
bounds off of Edwards, and the ball is going to
belong to the Lakers with ten point one seconds in
a one point game, and and that I think is
what people would want to see down one ten seconds,
(23:30):
like that's a good finish. But wait, Minnesota calls the
time out. They challenge the call, and at that point
in the game, there's no reason not to challenge the call,
quite frankly, because the referees go and watch that play
(23:53):
and they conclude that Lebron James foul Anthony Edwards, and
I believe it was deemed a shooting foul, and Edwards
goes two to the line, makes it sixteen to thirteen
and the Lakers get a last second he from Austin Reeves,
(24:14):
and as a consumer of the sport, I just think
it's bad. I just think it's bad. Because when you
play basketball in the gym, right, you got to call
your own fouls. You got to call your own fouls
(24:35):
in that moment late in the game. If you try
to call that foul late, people are gonna say no, no, no.
You got to call that instantly. And if you can't
get it right instantly, it didn't deserve to be called.
That's my thing. If the call on the court was
(24:56):
a foul, I have no problem with the call on
the court, But I no doubt have a problem with
a good block out of bounds Lakers ball being the call.
Only to have the officials and the Timberwolves call time out,
to have that play review to find out that Lebron
(25:20):
hits some of the player's hand like that, to me
is ruining the viewing experience. First off, we've got a
ten second, we got ten seconds left in a great game,
a one point game, and we go spend time looking
at this play from every different angle. Let them play
(25:43):
it out, Let them play it out. Let's stop with
all of the review for the minutia of everything. Let
it play out us see how these games go. Now,
some of you are going swiny, but you got to
(26:05):
get the calls right. The problem with that sentiment is
we still don't get the calls right and in super
slow mo. If you don't super like, if you don't
super slow mo every foul to see, then you shouldn't
(26:28):
be able to just super slow mo one. And and
maybe you would say, well, that's the same swany four
inbound plays as well, And you said you'd be okay
with inbound plays. Yes, you know, when the ball gets
tipped out or whatever and who's it out on? Yeah,
(26:51):
I'm okay with it because they get most of those
right when they overturn them and there's a you know,
there's a moment or did the ball touch his hand
or did it not? Did the you know, and things
that you can't pick up in real time. But when
you got to go back and review and look and go, oh, yep,
there's a foul and change a possession that was going
(27:13):
to be the Lakers ball to two free throws for
Minnesota and expanding the lead to three, I'm hard pressed
to support that system. I'm really hard pressed to support it. Anyway.
Let me know what you think. Give us a text.
They know three four five zero zero eighty six Lawton
(27:34):
swan with you on Twitter at Clemson Sports to show

then it's certainly a home regional and if they win
that super regional, So head up to Alumni Hall on
the corner of Campus of College Avenue in downtown Clemson.
(28:18):
It is Alumni Haull online at Alumni hall dot com.
All right, So, talked a little bit about the mock
NFL drafts of the future and the expectations surrounding Clemson
quarterback k klubnick Well. On three put out a list
(28:39):
of their top ten college football quarterbacks that was according
to Greg McElroy. Let me see, is McRoy working for
on three? Did they just put the graphic out? I
just want to double check that, Greg mac Yeah, it
looks like they just put out his thoughts on it.
(29:01):
And I'll play some of what Greg McElroy had to
say in just a little bit. But McElroy had kay
Klubnick as the number one quarterback in college football this
coming season, John Mattier at Oklahoma number two, Sam Levitt
at Arizona State three, Drew Ourur at Penn State number four,
(29:26):
Garrett Nussmeyer at LSU number five, meaning Clubnick and Nusmeyer
facing off the opening weekend of the college football season
in Death Valley number six, Carson back Down at Miami
number seven, Lenois Sellers at South Carolina number eight, Sawyer
(29:47):
Robertson at Baylor number nine, DJ Lagway at Florida at
number ten, Haines King at Georgia Tech. By the way,
I've seen some projections on Georgia Tech and the belief
that they might be the second best team in the
Atlantic Coast Conference this season. So that's the way Greg
(30:11):
McElroy sees it when it comes down to the top
quarterbacks in college football. What's wild about it is he
does not have arch manning on the board. He said, quote,
It's very hard for me to ever justify putting a
first year starter ahead of guys that have actually done it.
(30:34):
When the bullets are flying. That's the word from Greg
McElroy on his decision to keep arch Manning off of
that list. Here's McElroy talking about Kid Klubnik and why
he put the Clemson Tiger signal caller at the top
of the list, the.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Coveted number one spot here on the Always College Football
Annual quarterback rankings. We are going with Cade Club now
of the Clemson Tigers. Now. I thought last year he
did an amazing job through for thirty six hundred yards,
thirty six touchdowns against six interceptions, sixty three percent completion.
He went for four hundred and sixty three yards on
the ground, including seven rushing touchdowns, and I loved how
much he improved from twenty twenty three. So I'm banking
(31:16):
on that improvement only growing more significantly with another year,
developing a rapport with what I think is an outstanding
wide receiver CORP. And that's going to really help Kate
Klubnick reach his potential. This year, he improved his touchdowns
thrown by seventeen. He also had thirteen touchdowns on deep balls,
which is number one in the country. And he can
beat you in a lot of different ways. But I
(31:36):
don't just believe in his ability. I believe in his
mental toughness. When you are the Golden Goose and you
get criticized and you live to tell the tale, put
your head down, and then come back in twenty four
and you're one of the best players in the country.
That's a guy who I want on my team. Tells
me a lot about what this young man's made of
and what he's going to do this year.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
There you go, that's the thoughts from Greg McElroy on
k Clubnick. And again, even if you coulnsider kind of
those draft boards, those way too early draft boards that
we talked about just a little bit ago. I mean,
at worst, you know, k Clubnick's probably the fifth best
(32:16):
quarterback in college football. At best, he may very well
be the number one quarterback in college football this season.
And I think for South Carolina fans too, right in fairness,
this is a real shot in the arm for them
during the off season. And look, here's the thing we
(32:39):
openly acknowledge. Gamecock fans are out there checking out the program.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
So you could continue to peek over the fans at
the best radio showing the nation.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
And you know how I always say it, some of
the game Cocks really like the show.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
I'm a Carolina fan. I would listen to your show,
and I want to compliment you on your even handedness
between Clemson and Carolina.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
But not everyone this a game Cock loves it.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
I listened to the sports pop radio all over the nation,
but the one you come across makes me sick. You're
gonna find yourself not on the radio.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
And so from there the two sides, the contrasting listenership
of game cognation here on the program. But I think
for Gamecock fans to hear that draft earlier, much like Clemson,
to have a draft that lists your quarterback as the
second quarterback taken. Leonora Sellers taken as the second pick
(33:30):
according to one draft. The own three draft Box Sports
had k Klubni going second. Like that gives you an
incredible amount of hope about what the season can hold,
because when you have one of, if not the top
(33:52):
quarterback in college football, you realize and recognize that you
are going to have a great chance to go out
and win a lot of ball games. You know, when
we were growing up, if you had a great running back,
that probably was the catalyst to a nice solid season.
(34:18):
But as you got more into an open air, downfield
passing game. It really became significantly important that you have
one of the best quarterbacks and that that quarterback has
got a little experience under his belt. And that's something
that both Leonora Sellers in Columbia and Kay Klubnick and
(34:41):
Clemson both have in droves. They've got a ton of experience.
And both of those guys are incredibly talented and do
more than just standing in the pocket and throw the football.
I mean, they can both really hurt you with their legs.
They're versatile players. All right, quick, right, we'll come back.
We'll put a bowl on our number one plus, don't forget.
(35:02):
Mike Yva from Gamecockcentral dot Com joins us in our
number two of the program. Stay with us. Final segment
of our number one coming up Mike Eva. Hopefully he's
busy today, but hopefully we'll get up with Mike Eva
Gamecockcentral dot Com. So we talked about mel kiper Junior
dying on that hill up Shdor Sanders. I didn't realize
(35:25):
this yesterday, but mel kiper Junior gave exactly one program
franchise in the NFL in a plus grade. You got
an idea who it is huh the Cleveland Browns. Mel
(35:50):
kiper Junior's only A plus grade in the entire draft
went to the team that drafted his number one overall
pick or top rated quarterback whatever he was calling him,
and he wasn't taking until the fifth round of one
hundred and forty fourth selection.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
It was serious about that.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Dead serious that only one, only one? All right. Shifting
gears back to the Savannah Bananas at Clemson this weekend.
One of the odd sort of issues that has come
out of this for a lot of people is the
fact that Dabo Sweeney led the Bananas down the hill
(36:32):
for Clemson's traditional football interests and a lot of people saying, hey,
that entrance should be preserved for Clemson only, not for
this showcase game that was highlighting so much of Clemson
and Death Valley on the national stage. For a Savannah
Banana audience that is huge in a sport in banana
(36:53):
ball that's incredibly popular right now, and everybody, not everybody,
but a lot of people wanted to have a bunch
of hubbub about the fact that Sweeney led them down
the hill and that they ran down the hill. Oh
the audacity, Are you kidding? Me, what about the exposure
When the Carolina Panthers played at Clemson, they didn't run
(37:13):
down the hill. I understand that when high school football
games have been played, state championships have been played in
death Alley, the teams didn't run down the hill. But
part of the aura of Clemson is that running down
the hill and driving the buses around the stadium, and
the Bananas pulled that off, and I think it's awesome.
You want to have something to object about with the hill.
(37:37):
Don't object about the bananas running down it. Object about
the fact that the hill was slammed full for this game,
unlike the hill during Clemson football games, wherefo whatever reason,
fire Marshall something. You can't have all those people on
(37:59):
the hill, or you don't have all those students on
the hill. That's something to be upset about. Bring back
the nineteen ninety five version of the hill when I
was down there at Clemson. Forget about the fact that
Dabloshwheney led the bananas down the hill. That's awesome. That's
exposure for your football program, in your athletic program in general.
(38:22):
Be more upset about the fact that somehow, some way
the Bananas managed to pack that thing out, but yet
during football season, Clemson's hill looks like a shell of itself.
That's what should be bothering you, not the bananas. I mean,
that was a great moment with Jesse Cole out there
(38:43):
in his banana suit, the tuxedo all yellow, the top
hat yellow, high five and fans. I mean, everything that
we got to see in what America got to see
is a reason to go check out the savana bananas.
(39:06):
And you know, when you flash back to this weekend
and those games, you know, I don't know, and you know,
Willim Qualkinbush kind of touched on this talking about you know,
he's not certain how how re not recyclable, but reh
(39:28):
how many times you would go see it like it's
I think Qualk's quote was something along the lines of,
once you realize you're at the circus and there's a
baseball game taking place, you're okay with it. And so
I think my question for the future of banana ball,
and the good news is for the sport is that
it's adaptable at whatever rate Jesse Cole and the rest
(39:53):
of his admin team choose to adapt it, meaning some
fans have said, because the players do make trick plays.
They would like to see the trick plays become some
sort of aspect of the scoring of the game, you
(40:14):
know what I mean. So maybe you entice it to
be something like if you make five trick plays that
earns you a point, which might encourage in a game
where you're down and you've got four trick plays banked
(40:36):
a player in the outfield instead of making the routine
catch to win the game or to take the game
to extra innings, maybe he tries to do the back
flip catch and win the game. Like the beauty of
this sport and the show that goes along with it
(40:56):
is it's adaptable. The pace is the thing that they've
really won. And I don't know in Savannah how they
do it, but you know, softball women's softball plays games
in about two hours, and the Savannah Bananas basically get
their games done in two hours or less. I don't
(41:19):
see a reason why the Savannah Bananas. I mean, maybe
they do play multiple games on the day, but it's
not like you've got to have your ace pitcher on
the mound and then he's throwing one hundred miles an hour. Heaters,
you know, put the show on more times and get
more people in because that's the biggest issue people have
is you can't see them. There is a supply and
(41:42):
the demand issue. I think the other thing you could
encourage is two teams of bananas, one that's on the
road and one that plays at home, and sort of
split the squad and put some great players that people
some names people don't on one, some names we know
one the other, and then build it up that way
(42:03):
as well. You know, two squads of the party animals.
Maybe something like that might be better because you can't
have the party animals facing off with the firefighters. That's
just not gonna do it. So split the bananas, call
a day for lack of a bear term a banana split.
I'll be here all week. Stay with us.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Each time or Clipson Sports Talk with Luton Swan.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
It is our number two. That's Drivetime RADI on the
show The Shakesare south Land, Clemson Sports, Salt Lot and
Swan hanging out with you. Mike Youva, Gamecockcentral dot Com
set to join the program momentarily, and of course the
show The Shakespare south Land brought you in part by
our good friends over at Mets Plumbing. Seven three two drip, drip,
(43:29):
drip drip. You know the jingle, seventh three to two drip.
That's Mets Plumbing, mets Plumbing dot com. All right, hoping
to be joined by Mike. You'va here in just a
little bit. I know he's got a lot going on today,
so we'll see if we get a text or call
from him, we'll pop him up on the board for
you and get rolling with him. Obviously, for the South
(43:55):
Carolina game Cocks, it was a big week with the
NFL Draft, for sure, and with all of that out there,
will certainly get his thoughts on it. And again the
struggling South Carolina Gamecock baseball team. You know, the SEC's tough,
(44:16):
don't get me wrong, but that league has taken a hit.
I mean, you go out there and look at those
rankings now, by comparison to where it was at the
beginning of the year, the conference has taken a hit.
And the game Cocks had taken two out of three
a weekend ago against Old Miss at Founder's Park, and
(44:38):
you know felt, I think really good about it. But
then they go on the road to Lection in Kentucky
and play a three game series, had to play back
to back games on Saturday. They split those and then
lose the final game on Sunday and lose the series
two games to one. The game Cocks will face Charleston
(44:59):
Southern tonight over a Founder's Park at six point thirty. Clemson,
of course, does not have a midweek game this week.
They're off of the heels of being swept and additionally,
they'll now go to Florida State for a battle of
top five teams in the country. Clemson did get some
(45:20):
fortunate in not falling but one spot after losing three
games Stancy State. All right, we got him. Mike Eva
with us here on a Tuesday afternoon. Mike, what's up man,
Welcome in.
Speaker 5 (45:34):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
I'm good. But hey, look, I know it was a
big weekend for the game Cock faithful. Things got started
in during the draft with Nick Im and Warie coming
off the board drafted by Seattle in the second round.
Give me your thoughts on Im and Warri. I know
he's a big name. One of the issues people have
with him was he didn't play in the second half
(45:56):
of the game Cock's Bowl game, but by the time
he come around to the draft, Man, South Carolina fans
were certainly excited to see him pigged that early.
Speaker 5 (46:05):
No question about it. I think when you look at
Nick and I've had a conversation with former game Cock
safety Dj Swerringer. We did a story a couple of
weeks ago, and he shared that going back to even
Nick's freshman year, that he's been mentoring him and he
compared him and again, this is the guy that played
in the league for ten years. He compared him to
Sean Taylor. And anyone that has followed football and here's
(46:27):
a comparison like that, they know that is a very
very high compliment and DJ would not just be saying
that for anyone. So I say that because anyone that
watched Nick grow and even from his freshman year when
he came in it was kind of like a Wallypips situation.
I think it was our j Roderick who got hurt
and he went in and he never looked back. I
never gave the starting spot back and he was a
(46:48):
starter for all three years. So he's a physical player,
no question about it. He improved a lot in coverage
and that certainly showed this past season with a number
of interceptions he had and returning two for touchdowns should
have been three. If the you know LSU one did,
he could call back, but we won't go down that
rabbit hole. But now he's a tough guy. He's a
tough guy, and I think he's in a great situation
(47:09):
being out there in Seattle who certainly they're trying to
recreate in some ways the legion of Boom.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Yeah, look, no doubt. And I think too for South
Carolina and their program, you know, wasn't just about em
and Warri going early. I mean they had a host
of other guys taken. TJ Sanders was also selected in
the second round. Demetrius Knight Junior went in the second round.
And for Clemson fans, I think that when the game
(47:36):
Cocks won this past season, a lot of people would
have said, hey, there's more talent and Clemson, how in
the world do we lose that game? YadA, YadA, YadA.
The reality is, you know, when you look at these
three guys being drafted, then you go look at Clemson's
draft this year, and there could have been some other guys. Right,
if maybe k Clemny could come out, et cetera, that
certainly could have bolstered Clemson's draft resume. But man, the
(47:58):
game cocks with three guys in the SEUND. I mean
it's tough to beat teams that have that kind of
talent on the field.
Speaker 5 (48:05):
Oh, no question about it. And what's even more impressive
you look at the five players drafted. There could have
been some guys drafted a little bit later. As we
all know, when it comes to the draft and clumpson,
there's probably a few players that this happened to them.
And it happens every year where you know a team
they're looking for a certain fit and sometimes it works
out in your favor in terms of getting drafted, sometimes
(48:26):
it doesn't. And you'll see a lot of guys sign
as undrafted free agents where they get priority opportunities or
they get in through a mini camp invite. So I
share that because for South Carolina, between the guys that
were drafted or guys who were invited in mini camps,
or guys who signed as undrafted free agents so far
as of this hit right here on your show, eighteen players.
(48:49):
Eighteen players are heading the mini camp for South Carolina,
and I think when you look at that number in
comparison to years past, it speaks to what they have
done from a development standpoint, because some of those guys,
nine of them transferred in so you had some guys
who wanted to improve their draft stock, so they want
to improve as a player, and they were able to
(49:10):
do that. But on top of that, you had players
who started their career at South Carolina and they were
able to get better as well. And I think that's
a big selling point. Now, certainly there's no question when
you look to next year you're losing that much production,
especially on the defensive side of the ball, You're gonna
have to find ways to have other guys elevate their game,
because that's a lot of talent number one, but guys
(49:32):
who certainly made an impact on that team last year
that you have to replace.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Mike you have is on Twitter at Mike Underscore UVA.
Gamecock Central dot Com is the website part of the
ON three network. Again, Kyle Kanard was taken by the
Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round. Tonka Hemingway selected
by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth round as
well for the game Cocks. Now, the draft really circulated
(49:58):
around the storylines of Door Sanders and his drop to
the one hundred and forty fourth pick in the fifth round,
taken by the Cleveland Browns. Mike, when you're watching that unfold,
what are you thinking over the weekend?
Speaker 5 (50:12):
Well, I'll say this, I like Deon. Okay, I like Deon.
But from a storyline standpoint, I know we're talking about
people's livelihoods and all that money and all that, and
I try not to ever wish negatively upon anybody. But
from a storyline standpoint, it was fascinating to watch. I
couldn't get enough of it, simply because the further and
(50:33):
further he dropped it became even bigger. You know, I
have a coworker who mentioned to me that their wife
said something to them it was like, wait a minute,
like are you paying attention to this? So it became
a thing where you had people who might not necessarily
even know who Door is or you know, fall football
as closely. So I say all that because I was
fascinated by it and the information that has come out afterwards,
(50:57):
I still don't think it paints a clear picture as
to why, other than the fact that you know you're
going to have people say, okay, interviews, you know it
didn't go well. Maybe they didn't want to deal with
Dion bottom line is this oneing. This is how I
look at it. There has been much worse players drafted
that have had much worse baggage. And when it comes
(51:20):
to the NFL, these owners they will do whatever they
can just backstab each other if they feel like drafting
a player or doing anything will help them win games.
If they thought Shador was as talented as where he
was projected in some of these mock drafts, they would
have took them a hell of a lot earlier. So
that's how I look at it. That was there collusion.
(51:41):
I don't think that was the case, because again I
think if an owner felt like he could make a difference,
he would have been drafted much earlier than where he went.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
Do you do you find a level of I don't know,
Mike frustration with you know, mel Kiper's response to the
criticisms that he had, like why is it why? Why
is it so hard if you're Kuiper to just say,
you know, maybe I've misevaluated this guy, and that's that.
Wouldn't that be an okay statement to make that maybe
(52:11):
I misevaluated him and we'll see how it goes, you know,
and maybe it turns out that he didn't. But why
would it be so wrong to just say that I
thought Mel Kiper looked foolish all weekend.
Speaker 5 (52:21):
Maybe I'm in the minority. I enjoyed Mel. I couldn't
get enough of him. Maybe I'm one of the few
people that enjoyed it because every time he came on
screen I had to watch, especially the more that your
door dropped. I know some people probably got annoyed by it,
but to me, I wanted to hear what was gonna
come out of his mouth next, And he kept doubling down,
tripling down, quadrupling down. I mean it got to a
(52:42):
point where, you know, I think pride, probably more than anything,
is what came in the way. And if you go back,
and you know, Mel has said things over the years,
especially when it comes to quarterbacks. He's made it clear
that he feels that a lot of teams have mis
evaluated quarterbacks. Now I'm not gonna say that he's incorrect,
(53:02):
but I think certainly, when you're in the profession that
he's in, you know, you want to be right more
times than not. And I think more than anything, he
didn't want to come out and say, hey, to your point,
I misevaluated him, you know, because again, he wasn't the
only one that had him as high as he had him.
And I certainly I know that not every draft expert
(53:24):
had him projected to be the first quarterback off the board.
I know many people had camp Ward. But yeah, to
your point, you could have just said, you know what,
I aimed a little too high, and I just don't
understand this. But from an entertainment standpoint, especially when we're
in the fifth and sixth round and all that, and
he was still going after he was even drafted, I
loved it because when we were talking about kids from
(53:45):
TikTok Tech, I couldn't get enough of what was going
on with what Mel had to say. I'm like, what
is he going to say next?
Speaker 2 (53:51):
Mike, you've a game Concentral dot Com? All right, Mike
will turn our two to the future draft. I saw
a couple of mock drafts. One of them actually had
Leonora Sellers being drafted with the second overall pick to
the New York Jets. The other I saw had Kdeklubnet
being drafted second by the New York Jets. Some people
(54:12):
might call that terrible for both individuals, but either way,
if one of these two gentlemen playing football in the
state of South Carolina goes number two, it's quite a
story for either fan base. What do you think I mean?
Are those two guys both worthy of potentially being taken
as the number two overall selection in next year's NFL Draft.
Speaker 5 (54:32):
Well, this might surprise some people, but to me, I
want to see what Lenoris can do this year when
teams challenge him to throw from the pocket more, because
we know that when he gets out of outside of
the pockets, it's game over. So to me, if he
can prove this season, because again teams are going to
try to force him to beat them, beat them with
(54:53):
his arm, by keeping them in the pocket, by having
more you know, QB spies playing zone defense, kind of
like what we sa with Illinois and the bowl game.
And if Flannors can do that, well, there's no question.
If he decides to move on after the season, there's
no question he would be one of the first quarterbacks taken.
Having said that, at least at this point, and I'm
not saying the guy cannot throw from the pocket. This
(55:15):
is not what I'm saying. But until he can do that,
I'm probably not as high on him being a you know,
one of the first quarterbacks off the board, simply because
he hasn't been you know, challenged like that many times,
and that will certainly be something that he's going to
get pushed that this year. So I think some people
and again Gamecock fans, and they're always going to support
(55:37):
their guys and rightfully, so I'm just pumping the brakes
a little bit until we actually see what he's able
to do when those you know, challenges present themselves this season.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
He's on Twitter at Mike Underscore UVA. Mike, you have
a game Concentral dot com again part of the A
three network. From that, Mike, I know, we talked a
little bit last week about out South Carolina spring game
and certainly football is always the topic djure in these parts,
(56:08):
as you all know, living down in the state of
South Carolina for many years. What is some of the
latest news coming out of Columbia with the Gamecock football team.
Speaker 5 (56:17):
Well, I mean, you go through a spring game and
spring practices just in general that were a little bit
later in comparison to some of these other schools, so
you started to overlap a little bit with the transfer
portal being opened. So those exit meetings that took place
after spring practice, and some of those actually took place
before the Friday spring game. They went into the beginning
(56:38):
of this past week. Some guys hit the portal, and
I think there's just some brutal, brutally honest conversations and
some guys had to look at things. And you know,
while Shane Biemer has said multiple times that there's no
true depth chart right now, I think we can all
kind of have an idea of Okay, who's in the
too deep And that's why you saw a guy like
Dante Reno decided to enter the you know, I mean,
(57:00):
you have a talented guy in there, of course, Leonora Sellers.
But who's competing for that number two spot? Well, Luke
Dodie it appears, heading into fall camp will be one
of those guys that will be competing for the number
two quarterback spot. It's been you know, back and forth
with him right QB room and wide receiver room, back
to QB room. So that's interesting. Certainly bringing in a
guy like Aaron Nolan from Ohio State. You've seen some
(57:23):
guys on the offensive line hit the transfer portal, Cam
Pringle being one of them, a guy that Clempson was
looking at. I mean, that's certainly something to pay attention to,
sure in the upstate. So I think, you know, to me,
that's the biggest stuff right now is that South Carolina
from a roster retention standpoint, as far as guys that
they felt like will make an impact this year, they
(57:44):
didn't lose anyone. And I think in this era, not
saying that we've got to throw a parade, but I
think that says something that speaks volumes of what they
were able to do. And I think that's equally important,
if not even more important than just being able to
recruit these days.
Speaker 2 (57:57):
Yeah, I think it's unique. When Campringle went into the
portal the other day, the former four star prospect out
of Woodland, I thought, man, that's strange because I think
he had a lot of upside. He's an in state kid.
And it got me thinking about his relationship with Dante Reno.
And this was before Reno jumped in, and I wondered,
you know, because I know those two guys were good friends. Yeah,
(58:18):
I wondered would that impact Reno? And then I see
Reno gets in and I'm like, man, you know, I
really do hate it, Mike, for the players in the
sport because I just like, I don't know. I mean,
I think it's unhealthy for everyone, quite frankly, and it's
(58:41):
hard to not blame the players. But my goodness, there
was always something about you know, when South Carolina landed
Dante Reno, you remember how fans reacted to that and
how they felt about it, and oh.
Speaker 5 (58:53):
He played a key role in recruiting some of the
best players they have. Dylan stored right maizie O Bennett
getting him to help in terms of flipping. He was
the once originally committed to Tennessee. Kim Pringle, of course,
was another one. So I mean, I'll tell you this,
Dante and I talked at length before he made his decision,
and then when it came out, we talked afterwards and
(59:16):
he didn't want to leave. And it's not like South
Carolina was forcing them. South Carolina told them like, hey,
we want you to stick around, we want you to compete.
But I think for a guy like that, and you know,
I'll share some of it, I don't want to get
too deep and share everything. Yeah, but out of respect
to him, But you know, here's a guy that had
to be honest with himself. He had to be honest
with himself based on the circumstances of what that room
(59:38):
looked like and for what Cutter Woods did the end
State star came in and what he was able to
do in the spring game. That's another thing. I mean,
you're going up against these guys every day and you're
just like, wait, okay, where am I realistically going to be?
And you're bringing in someone like Aaron Nolan, who lets
just be honest again, we're all being honest here. Yeah,
he's not here for free, right, He's making a change.
(01:00:00):
So South Carolina has invested in him and they certainly
want to give him the tools to be successful. So
at the end of the day, you have to be
able to be honest with yourself. I think the Cam
Pringle situation much different, of course, but when you look
at it with Cam, Cam and I have had multiple
former South Carolina offensive lineman reached out to me. They
were very disappointed because that's one of those positions that
(01:00:23):
it takes time. There's growth there and it's not going
to happen overnight. And I think for Cam, unfortunately, look
at Okay, well, Josiah Thompson. We're in the same grade together.
He's a left tackle. Am I ever going to see
the field? Oh, Josiah, Oh, he's not going to leave
left tackle. Cam, you might have to get some work
at right tackle if you want to see the field.
But I know that that again, not saying that the
coaches weren't disappointed with both leaving, but I know they
(01:00:44):
were very disappointed to see Cam go just because of
how young he was and the potential that they felt
like he still had to show there.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Mike, final thing and we'll get you out of here.
It is the great debate online. A thousand men versus
a silver bat. It's gonna be one hundred bid versus
a silverback gorilla? Who you got? And these are unarmed
These are unarmed men, now, Mike, these are just regular men.
Speaker 5 (01:01:10):
These average Joe's. Are we talking about like some of
the strongest, like you know, athletes in the world.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Here, You know, it's just the first hundred guys you
run into at Walmart.
Speaker 5 (01:01:19):
Yeah, I'm taking the gorilla every time.
Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
No shot, no shot, Mike, You, Mike, buddy, have a
great day. Always appreciate you.
Speaker 5 (01:01:26):
My man, all right, Swanny, appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
That's Mike you But yeah, so, I've been thinking about
that one hundred men versus a silver back, and somebody
generated an AI video of one hundred unarmed men around
a silverback gorilla. If so, it's kind of a twofold
(01:01:49):
thing here. I believe if the men were willing to
die and just not not you run, I think the
men would win. The problem half is I think the
first guy that that gorilla gets his hands off, it's
gonna be so bad that the other ninety nine are
gonna leave. So if everybody's willing to go all in,
(01:02:11):
I think the men win. I think they could overpower
the gorilla. But I think if the first guy bails,
the gorilla's win it quick brand will come back. We'll
talk about some updates to EA Sports College Football. Stay
with us, Clemson Sports Salad and Swan so EA Sports
College Football. Of course, the video game came back this
past season on what they call next gen consoles. That's
(01:02:33):
like the newer consoles. You can't get it on your
old PlayStation four, only on the PlayStation five and the
Xbox X or S or whatever it's called. Anyway, they
did put out a couple of updates on some of
the features and look, I I don't know. I played
(01:02:56):
it a couple of times. It's a game when I
was in my twenties that I would go pick up
at midnight the night it came out of a not
EA Sports at EB Games. And so you know, the
dread that I hate about in the game is that
it was gone during Clems's best seasons with Deshaun Watson
(01:03:18):
and Trevor Lawrence. Like that's a frustrating aspect of it.
And I really wish, I really wish EA Sports would
recognize the loss of those years and attempt to finalize
agreements with those former players who were in the game
(01:03:43):
back then and create like they could even create a
second game. Honestly, EA College Football twenty fourteen Dash twenty
twenty four pay all those old dudes six hundred bucks
(01:04:03):
if they'll take it and put them in the game
and have the game. Let me go b Deshaun Watson
and you know that group, and let me go be
Trevor Lawrence in that group. Like that's that is something
that EA Sports could truly capitalize on, I think. But
(01:04:26):
either way and give them the same opportunity as to players,
right you can opt in and get your six hundred bucks.
I know that number is going up this year for players,
but yeah, I think most of those guys would say, yeah,
I want to be in the game. I want to
be in the game. I want to be able to
go back and play because they wanted to play when
they were playing. That's how ridiculous it all was. But
(01:04:50):
EA Sports does have some new features. High school is
going to be back in the Road to Glory situation.
Real coaches are gonna be in the game, and hopefully
their likeness will be in the game that Dabo Sweeney
will opt in and look like Dabo Sweeney. There will
(01:05:13):
be three different covers for the new EA Sports College
Football console game. There will also be the early release
coming out July seventh, standard release on July tenth, and
then a new score Bug and Low's and Metallica partnerships.
(01:05:39):
So I'm assuming Metallica partnership for Virginia Tech and their
Inner Sandman song, and then I'm sure Lows will just
be featured throughout the game. But yeah, they should have
a version, you know, call it EA Sports College Football
(01:06:02):
the Lost Years and put those eleven seasons that we
missed out on in the game, and if that would
take up if that takes up too much room, okay,
in fairness, if you just can't do it for the
size and scope of that, then break it up over
(01:06:27):
the next few years. Give us twenty fourteen to twenty seventeen,
right in this season, and then the next year go
twenty eighteen to twenty twenty one, and then the next
go twenty one to twenty twenty four and call it
a day, right or however you know you have to
(01:06:49):
separate it out to make it work. But to me,
there's no reason at all at this point not to
try to figure out how to get those players to
sign off on being in the game. And I honestly
(01:07:11):
believe the demand would be high because I think there
have been so many players that came through during that
era that the fans across the country wished to play with.
I think people would buy it or just put the
(01:07:34):
ball in one caught the lost years and be done
with it. But you probably get more bang for your
buck doing what maybe make it even I'll tell well,
let's take it a step further. Forget about packaging it
with the game. I don't think anybody would be willing
(01:07:54):
to say, let's release it over eleven years, but do
three a year until you have all eleven years in
that's four years. And sell us an extra disc, sell
us an extra game, put another seventy spot on it.
And if I don't want twenty fourteen Clemson, but I
(01:08:14):
do want twenty fifteen, then I would buy that one.
But if I didn't want either of those, well then
I'm gonna wait till the twenty sixteen comes out. You
follow what I'm saying, like there is a market here.
Alabama fans and Clemson fans would be gobbling that video
(01:08:35):
game up left and right. And maybe maybe I'm wrong
because those two teams are so dominant in that era.
Maybe those are the only for those only franchises or
schools or whatever fan bases that would go get that
game regardless. But I like to believe that other teams
(01:08:57):
would want to go see their favorite player or play
with their favorite player, you know, a guy that they
love to follow collegiately. To me, I think it's a
no brainer. The lost seasons, the lost years, whatever you
want to call it, Pop it out on a second disc,
sell it for seventy bucks or whatever you're charging for
(01:09:19):
the regular. I'll be honest, if you put that out,
I would skip the regular. I would just go get
the old one because I want to be able to
play with those guys that you couldn't play with on
that video game back during their time collegiately eight oh
three four five zero zero eighty six. Let me know
what you think, would you? I mean, would you buy
a separate version of the video game? Heck, I didn't
(01:09:40):
buy that one, the one that just came out before.
I would buy it. If you had Deshaun in that
group and Trevor in that group, I absolutely would buy it.

the man legendary Clemson sid Tim Beray from nineteen seventy

Speaker 6 (01:17:36):
What have you done for me lately? It's a fair question.
Just don't lose sight of the bigger picture. Don't forget history.
Look you for us at Clemson. The answer to the
questions what have you.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
Done for me lately? And what have you done? Always
are the same. We win sometimes.
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
Final segment on a Tuesday. Man, how about timber A
good for him? I love that guy.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
He gives us so much great content and insight into Clemson.
And it's one and only one and only well well deserved.
Eight zero three four five oh zero zero eighty six.
That is the text line in the phone line. And again,
(01:19:20):
you could be a part of the program anytime, any place,
anywhere on our website, Clemson sports Talk dot com. And
I've just been so swamped, man, I gotta apologize. I've
been so swamped. I gotta get I gotta get back
to work over there. But man, just so much going
on right now. School years winded down, and we got
(01:19:42):
soccer playoffs looming. So I just I got my hands
in way too many fires right now. I often think
about that.
Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
Like when the.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
You know, when you when we get to this part
of the year and you don't have a midweek baseball game.
I was telling I was telling my buddy, you know,
when you get to this part of the year and
you don't have the midweek baseball game.
Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
And you.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Have to wait until the weekend, and you had to
you had to sweep that you lost, So you don't
want to you don't want to talk too much about it,
like it's a weird it's a weird week. I would say, uh,
this is week one of sort of the preview of
(01:20:36):
what can be at times during the college football summer.
But you know, with a transfer portal and all that
in front of you, I mean there is a lot
going on for sure. I mean we mentioned for South
Carolina fans donte Reno and I did see after we
get off the air, Campringle, the former Woodland product that
(01:20:59):
I mentioned during that segment, Camppringle is gonna go play
with Syracuse. He signed with the QUS. So Pringle's going
up to be a part of Fran Brown's program, the
big offensive lineman out of Dorchester, South Carolina. I feel
(01:21:22):
like there was a tight end. Whatever happened to that kid?
Like that's the other thing. I remember there was a
tight end from South Carolina that committed to Syracuse a
few years back, and I remember feeling like, oh man,
Clempson missed out on that kid. But I don't know
that dude did anything. What was his name? I kind
(01:21:44):
of looked like, I'll tell you who, I'll tell you
what he looked like. Was Ian Shefflin. Okay, Yeah, here
he is, all right, That's why I couldn't find him.
Not the tight end offensive lineman Cooper Dawson from Hanahan
went to Syracuse. It looks like he transferred to Charleston Southern.
(01:22:05):
I remember, I mean not necessarily thinking that was a
big miss, but I do remember feeling like, go, how'd
that guy get away?
Speaker 5 (01:22:15):
Right? Like?
Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
How the kid from Hanahan get away from Clemson? At
that point during Clemson's run, I mean, you had Tony
Elliott on the staff. I think you would have still
had Robbie Calwell recruiting the offensive line. I don't know,
I kind of forgot that name. But thinking about the
(01:22:39):
Low Country and thinking about players in the portal, Cooper
Dawson there you go. No wonder I couldn't, No wonder
I couldn't find it though, because I did man I thought, Man,
I feel like it was a tight end and I
couldn't find one that went to Syracuse. Feels offensive offensive lineman.
That's why I speaking about offensive line and final thing
(01:23:01):
here and we'll get you out the door. Clemson target
on the offensive line in the upcoming twenty twenty six class.
Leo Delaney now the Providence Day School in Charlotte is
set to make his commitment known July the eleventh. Delaney
will pick amongst Clemson, Penn State, Tennessee, and Michigan. So
(01:23:29):
Leo Delaney Provadence Day School in Charlotte, announcing earlier today,
earlier today that his commitment is just a few months
away from taking place. All right, there you go, two
hours in the books. Hard to believe, but you know,
(01:23:50):
tomorrow's Wednesday. We're getting close to that big series this
weekend with Clemson and Florida State and baseball Clemson Plus.
I know a lot of you don't have that, and
that's okay. But locally in Colombia on the c W,
they were playing a Clemson Plus episode. It was showing
highlights of Clemson in Florida State from last year where
the Tigers came back from down what seven or eight
(01:24:13):
in game two and then came back from down eleven
or something like that in game three. Remember that wild
finish back to back games and William Qualkin Bush it's
all there, It's all there. I had to hit see
William Qualkin Bushes faced on a television last night. Yeah,
keep your eyes open for that. So that was probably
(01:24:33):
Monday night around seven o'clock on the c W I
think was the channel that I saw it. It was a
Clemson Plus special. It was awesome, really good stuff for
Tiger fans in the Midlands like this show. All right,
we'll be back tomorrow. So then, as always, you'll take
care now and go Tigers.
