NFL Draft coming up tomorrow as I said yesterday, several
Clemson players in the mix, but in most of the
most of the UH simulations of the NFL draft, just

(02:11):
seeing a few guys from Clemson going off the board,
a number of guys from South Carolina going off the
board tomorrow as well, and because of the few guys
Clemson has got going, we'll look at some stats probably
tomorrow on Davos Sweeney's tenure, and there's an off chance
that he could potentially get past here pretty soon. In

(02:31):
terms of players in the pros. We'll talk about that
in just a little bit. Eighth three four five h
zero zero eighty six. All right, I really don't know
where to begin. I mean, it's rare that we venture
into the program and have two big topics to dive
into pertaining to Clemson sports in April. I mean, that's

(02:57):
just not something you're cut. Yeah, you might have gotten
a big baseball win at some point along the way,
like the Tigers did last night, topping fifth rank Georgia
three to nothing. Clempson, the number two ranked team in
the country in all major polls. You might even have
an upset of a number one team in the country.
But you weren't gonna do that in softball until recently,

(03:19):
because that sport hadn't been around yet. The Tigers, who
I have, admittedly, I think a lot of you would agree,
misjudged this team early on after a sluggish start to
the season.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
You fellas been dorn a bit of boozing. Have you
sucking back on Grandpa's old cough medicine?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I just I honestly, when they came out of the
gate slow, I thought, well, this is going to be
the season, so we will begin there because I think
the Tigers softball team deserves their just deserts. As they say,
let's give them their flowers so to speak, for going

(04:03):
up to Tennessee and knocking off their number one ranked
team in the country in overtime. Now, this Clpson Tiger
softball team has turned and burned in recent weeks for sure.
And look at the start to the season. I mean

(04:24):
when they wrapped up play within eleven to three victory
over Ohio State in the Shriners' Children's clear Water Invitational.
After two tournaments, they were four and six. But they
started the year three and six. But after tournament play

(04:45):
ten games four and six, and I kind of thought,
and I think a lot of people thought that was
just gonna be kind of the norm, but it has
been far from that for this Clympson Tiger softball team
the rest of the way, thirty seven and thirteen, sixteen
and five in the ACC but most notably going on

(05:08):
the road to Tennessee. A week after topping South Carolina
in nine innings two to one, the Tigers go and
win in nine innings at Tennessee, four to three. They
have one conference regular season series remaining on the road

(05:29):
in Atlanta this weekend, but to go to Tennessee and
come away with a victory just huge. I mean, you
look at the volunteers this year and their record in
addition to their resume, I mean, they're a phenomenal ball club.

(05:54):
Thirty seven to ten. They were fourteen and excuse me,
seventeen and three at home coming into this ballgame in
Clemson topped them. Huge victory up at Sherry Parker Lee
Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, the biggest victory really as of

(06:16):
yet for this young Clemson Tiger softball program. Nine inning victory,
the highest rank victory in program history. The Tigers now
thirty eight and twelve Jasmine Brockenborough, a transfer from Tennessee,
made the games deciding play in the bottom of the

(06:37):
ninth inning as she called a line drive in the outfield,
then made a heavy play to double off the runner
at second base to end the balls threat and to
hand Clemson the victory. Up in Knoxville, sophomore Taylor Pipkins
delivered a go ahead run in the top half of
the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly to left field,

(06:57):
scoring Able Wilson from third. It was a pitcher's duel
between Clemson's Res Messenger and Tennessee's Carlon Pimpkins, as neither
pitcher allowed a walk in the first two innings of play,
retiring the first six batters they faced. It was Broken
Burrow that broke open the no hitter for either side
with a single through the left side and the top

(07:19):
of the third, but she got left stranded in the inning.
The balls then opened the scoring in the bottom of
the frame after a single in an era allowed two
runs to be on, then a single up the middle
hit the center field grass. Clemson was able to get
on the scoreboard in the fifth inning and took the

(07:40):
lead after loading the bases with two outs as Alex
Brown got a hold of a pitch off the end
of her bat and then a throwing era attempting to
get her at first was a radic that allowed the
bases to clear. Brown advanced the third and the Tigers
took a three to one lead into the bottom of
the sixth inning. That's when the home standingolunteers would answer

(08:01):
even in the game at three to three. After the
first two batters got on board with back to back
singles and advanced up to second and third off of
an errant throw. They both came home on a single
to right field to tie the game. Everything would stay
level and they would go to extra innings. Then in
the ninth inning, Macy Centron drew a leadoff walt Abel

(08:26):
Wilson came in to run for advanced around the third
on a single and a ground out, and then Pipkins
delivered the go ahead run with a sacrifice fly, scoring
the speedy abl Wilson from third. Messenger finished the game
with five innings of work seven strikeouts without conceding a walk.
Then Brook mccobbn came in and faced fifteen batters in

(08:48):
four innings to earn the victory for the Tigers for Clemson,
though a win over a number one team that goes
across the board in sports at Clemson University. It's the
thirty ninth all time win over a top ranked team

(09:10):
for any Clemson ball club. It's the fifth win over
a top ranked team for women's sports in Clemson history,
and it's the first road victory over a number one
team in any Clemson women's program's history. So a huge
day up in Knoxville as the Tigers top the number

(09:35):
one team in the country in softball four to three
last night. Late into the evening though over at Dug
Kingsmore Stadium, Clemson and the number two ranked baseball team
beat The highest day of ranking in the polls right
now is fifth Georgia. I think the lowest might be thirteenth,
but either way five peer I do not wish to

(10:00):
manished the accomplishment. In what was labeled as a top
five matchup, Number two, Clemson blank Georgia three to nothing
last night, with five Tigers combining on a three hit
shutout to give Clemson the victory. The Tigers now improved
to thirty six and seven. The Bulldogs drop to thirty
three and ten. Starting pitcher tallon Bell for Clemson pitch

(10:23):
three and two thirds innings, allowing two hits with five strikeouts.
Then Jacob McGovern came in and pitched one in the
third innings. He earned the win, his third of the season.
Lucas Malstead, as you might imagine, shut the door in
the ninth inning, his fifteenth save of the year, tying
the Tigers single season record shared with Nick Glasser back

(10:45):
from the year two thousand. Offensively for the Tigers, Colin
Priest ripped a two out double in the first inning
to score the game's first runs. Then Dominic Listy lofted
a run scoring triple in the second, and then in
the seventh that was cam Canerella who lined a two
out shot right up the middle on a run scoring double,

(11:08):
giving Clipson their three to zero margin. And you know,
there were some interesting moments in that game, just kind
of watching it last night. Clemson able to get out
of several jams, which, hey, look that's what good teams.
Good teams. Do you recognize that teams are gonna get

(11:30):
guys in scoring position. Can you get out of those situations?
Clympson did that last night. You also had a little
bang bang play at first base where when they went
to review, the question was was the Clemson runner when
he returned to the bag standing on the safety bag,

(11:51):
that orange bag or the white bag. It was determined
that they did have part of the right foot that
right bag. I can't remember exactly what player that was.
That game was so late last night, well not too late,
I mean it was eleven o'clock or so, But I
had never seen that happen with that safety bag coming

(12:14):
into play. It is not a place that you can
be safe on your return to the bag after you
run through the base. But that didn't end up being
a situation, but it certainly certainly could have. It really
becomes more of a lesson for every player to recognize
that when you return to the bag, make sure you're

(12:36):
on the white one. That orange one does you no good.
Clemson again travels to Rally this weekend. They'll face the
twenty fifth ranked NC State wolf Back in a three
game series that will begin on Thursday tomorrow at seven
o'clock on the ACC Network. So, your Clemson Tiger baseball

(12:56):
team taking care of business last night, and I guess
you know, depending on what polls are, what polls you
believe in I don't know if Texas is the number
one team in all the major polls, but I know
a couple of the top teams this entire season have

(13:18):
been Texas and Arkansas. But I guess the big question
now becomes not to be a number one in the
regular season is of major significance, especially in a sport
where so many teams get in the postseason. But it
does signify a credit to your work schedule. We'll see,

(13:42):
and we'll keep our eyes on the Texas Longhorns. They
won last night fourteen to eleven over Texas State. They've
got a three game series coming up with in state
rival Texas A and M. They've got to match up
with Arkansas next weekend, then LORDA and Oklahoma. If Clemson

(14:02):
continues they're winning ways, it's hard to imagine even as
good as Texas has been this season, the Longhorns are
thirty four and five and sixteen to two in the
SEC that there's not a possible stumbling block or two
in their way the rest of the way. And I'm
not advocating. I would never advocate for Clemson baseball running

(14:27):
the table at this point in the season either, because
I think I'm a little superstitious about you know, maybe
need to pick up a loss here or there, just
kind of reset things every once in a while. But
and maybe you conclude that that, you know, that loss,
that eight to six loss to Louisville this past weekend

(14:48):
could be considered that reset. But with the remaining games
left four conference series, what's thirteen total games? I think
in the regular season, you know you, I think as
a coach, you hope to run that thing out twelve
and one, eleven to two, something like that and still
be playing with a high level of confidence when it

(15:10):
comes to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and then ultimately
postseason play. But with the victory last night three to
zero over the Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson has placed itself in
position with a little little fortune to perhaps take the

(15:31):
top spot in college baseball before we enter the regular season,
before we end, excuse me, the regular season eight zero
three four five zero zero eighty six text line, phone line,
and again, you can be a part of the program anytime,
any place, anywhere. We'll hear from Clemson head coach Eric

(15:52):
Backage in just a few minutes. But before we do that,
I want to take you out to John Ritman. We
talked about the Clemson softball team going on the road
to Tennessee and knocking off the top ranked team in
all the land. Here's coach Ripman following last night's four
to three extra ding victory, the first number one team

(16:16):
that Clympson Softball's ever defeated. Here's Coach Ripman talking about
that big win for his softball club.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
What a great win for the Tigers tonight on the
road against the number one ranked team in the country.
I was so proud of our pitchers facing Or just
did a heck of a job in the circle for us,
gave us five strong innings. Brook comes in in relief,
just pitches her butt off. Our defense was outstanding. Maddy
Moore some great defensive plays at second base all night long,

(16:47):
and then just found ways to score runs. You know,
we weren't getting disappointed. We knew we were facing a
strikeout pitcher, but we kept battling. We found a way
to score runs tonight. I thought Pipkins at that was
just huge for us there in the last inning, and
and obviously a.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Close play at the play. But just loved the way we.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Fought tonight and got a big big road win.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
What does this freshman class kind of meant as they've
kind of picked us through this second half of the
season and again Macy with the lead off walk to
get us going and then Pickins spring Wilson home.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Oh, they've meant so much to this program. They're just
there's such good, hard working teammates. They know how to
win the light. The moment's never too big for him,
and they've been outstanding. Like Macy drawing that walk there
against an All American. We put a pinch runner in Ava.
In fact, both of our pinch runners scored tonight, but

(17:42):
I thought Ava was really you know on top of
when she left, you know, leaving the bag in a
critical situation on the fly ball left and Pipkins with
the sac fly just huge there. I can't say enough
about our freshman class. There's there's a reason that we
won a lot of games and they're a huge part
of that.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
So the future looks bright for Clemson. Gibbing what you
saw last night in Knoxville, again, that was head coach
John Ripman of the Lady Tigers not only talking about
the win, but talking about the freshmen and their impact
on that ball club. This season. And I think the
lesson that you have to take away from the year

(18:22):
and those first you know, twelve ten to twelve games
where they really struggled is there's an adaptation period. Regardless
of whether you're going from playing you know, JV to
varsity or varsity to college or whatever, there's an adaptation

(18:43):
period where, or for that matter, if you're on the
varsity as a freshman and then a sophomore or whatever,
at some point along the way. What I've always tried
to tell my son is, all right, so you're a freshman,
Well now it's time to play like a sophomore. So
you're sophomore, it's time to play like a junior. Or
you're a junior, it's time to play like a senior.

(19:03):
And if you take that mindset with you, this is
for all the kids riding around listening to us in
the back of the vehicle. If you take that mindset
with you, where you create a level of success for
yourself is in the fact that you are well prepared
for the moment when it actually does arrive. Not to mention,

(19:23):
you've taken advantage of the opportunity that you had by
kind of advancing your mindset a little bit, and if
you do those things, I think you'll see the fruits
of your labor. Regardless of sport you play. Just kind
of think a great ahead. Hey, halfway through the year,
I got to be a junior. Halfway through that junior year,

(19:44):
I got to be playing like a senior. You live ahead.
I don't want you to run your life too quickly,
but live a little bit ahead. When we come back,
we'll hear Eric Backage's comments following Clemson's three victory over
Georgia last night. Keep it a lot ray here on
Fox Sports Radio fourteen hundred, Lawton Swan Clempson of sports,
on Twitter at Climpses of Sports, TikTok Instagram. We are

(20:04):
where you are. Was a big night at Doug Kingsmore
Stadium up in Tiger Town. Just hours after maybe not
even outwurs plural. Maybe it's been a little over an
hour after the women's softball team topped number one ranked
Tennessee at Knoxville, your number two ranked clips of Tigers

(20:27):
blanked the Georgia Bulldogs three to nothing. Clemson head coach
Eric Backitch spent some time with the media following the game,
along with a couple of players, including Tallon Bell and
Lucas Malstead. Here's that exchange with coach Backache and the

(20:52):
players with the media following the Tigers victory last night.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
Uh yeah, first, just want to shout out to the
Tiger Nation and DKs.

Speaker 6 (21:01):
That was. That crowd is reminiscent of the Gamecock series.
That looked like a regional, super regional crowd.

Speaker 7 (21:08):
That was there was just an electric factory.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
There was buzz, it's noisy, it was rowdy, it was
just it was perfect.

Speaker 6 (21:17):
It's exactly what we were hoping for.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
And to think that we've got almost seven thousand here
where we end up with sixty six hundred, ten sixty
six hundred on a Tuesday night. Obviously you know, top
ten matchup, great program at Georgia, a great team, but
even still, you know, eight o'clock game with rain in
the forecast, and still.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
To show up like that and show out they were.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
The crowd and the fans were every bit is instrumental
in that win and the win. You know, the word
that kept popping in my head was just like a
surgical type of performance.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
It was pitching, defense, timely hitting.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
You got from tallon Bell all the way to Lucas Mallstad,
the reed Garris coming in in the middle of a
of an app out.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
I thought that was a huge part of the game.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
But the pitching we got tonight, you know, to shut
out incredible offense like Georgia has with all the threats
in their lineup, with you know, one hundred and five
home runs on their team, and.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
To put up that many zeros, it's tough to do.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
But just testament to all the guys that went in
there and just pounded the strike zone and the defense
we played behind them, and then you know, we got
the time it.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
Hits when we needed them. So they just a great,
great team win.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
Very proud of our guys, and I'll turn our attention
back to acc play and get ready to go to
NC States.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
So there you have it. That's Eric Beckett talking about
Clempson's victor over Georgia. Here is Lucas Malstead and Tallon
bell As. They were also addressed or had a moment
to address the media about Clempson's three to zero victory
last night. We mentioned the fact that Malstead got his
fifteenth save of the season, tying at Clemson Art all time.

(23:01):
He was asked about what that means to him to
get the questioning going.

Speaker 6 (23:06):
I mean for you, yeah, first and foremost.

Speaker 8 (23:08):
You know, it's an honor to be up there with
with some of the Clemson legends. I mean, you know,
I just have the utmost respect for them and everything
they've done for this program. You know, it was a
couple of months ago I actually spoke to mister Winchester
on the phone, you know, just about you know, how
his team was successful and how he was successful as
an individual. You know, so that was a big piece

(23:28):
to this. And and obviously you know, couldn't do it
without coaching staff or the teammates. I mean, you've got
all the outfielders, you know how many games ended with
you know, a wall catch or whatever, and then all
the infielders laying out you know, making insane plays, you know,
and then obviously the coaching staff, you know, trusting in
me to be able to go out there and do.

Speaker 6 (23:49):
What I never I never imagined it. But you know,
you always got to have.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
That that belief that that you can do something, and
you before I.

Speaker 8 (24:00):
Went out there, yes, it was once I got on
the mound, you know, it was just what I always do,
you know, attack with a plan, you know, pound the
strike zone and you know, just compete every day.

Speaker 6 (24:11):
I could focus on count of the strikes. One that's
from playing going into the game, all the pitchers, so
on the strikes rasing. These guys are supporting me, says Dad.
Got here, and I couldn't mean anymore.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
To be able to get it in there you go.
That's tallon Bell wrapping up the press conference, Lucas Mawstead
obviously addressing his record tying fifteenth save of the season.
With a lot of baseball left, so you believe that
if the Tigers continue to play the way they've played,
Mastead continues to shut the door the way he has

(24:45):
that little side armed under armed man it is. That's
got to be squirrely to pick up if you're in
the matter's box. I know that anytime somebody's kind of
got that, you know, that angle where the ball is
almost rising as it's coming to the plate. At times,

(25:06):
it's got to be tough. It has to be tough
in large part because you don't typically see it, so
you don't have the same level of recognition, you know,
kind of a submarine style. You don't have the same
level of recognition of spotting the ball. It just it's

(25:27):
a it's it's not quite you know, facing righty, lefty,
But there is an advantage that it gives you, maybe
more so because you're accustomed to kind of spot in
that ball in a certain area, and muscle memory and
and all of that has to come into play. The

(25:50):
other thing too, at least as I understand it, that
kind of side armed approach reduces distress on the arm.
You know how when you see those photos of a
picture pitching, it looks like their arms just bending. Well,

(26:10):
when you are going with that side arm, you're reducing
some of that, which could lead to the opportunities you
know more, you know, longer stints, more opportunities, more frequent stints,
and more durability as a picture. The other thing too,

(26:32):
is the fact that there's a lot of I don't
those science and numbers on the whole thing, that sidearm
pictures generate a higher percentage of ground balls. And because
it's an unorthodox look, especially in the later stages of

(26:55):
a game where you might not get to see the
guy but maybe one time through the lineup, it becomes
a very difficult change to handle and you're not going
to see it much, and then the next night in
a weekend series, you might see it again for an
inning or two. So that's part of the reason I

(27:16):
think you've seen Mosteed have the success that he's had
so far this season. Eight zero three four five zero
zero zero eighty six text line, phone line to give
me a part of the program anytime, Any places to
wear on our website. That's Clemson Sports Talk dot com

(27:36):
rolling along on a Wednesday. The show shakes the south
Land Clemson Sports Talk. So I saw an article in
the teaser title headline whatever was Rose Bull agrees to
earlier kick for college football playoff quarterfinals. Now it I
got a little excited about that, because, as you know,

(27:58):
I'm I'm not somebody that likes to believe that the
Rose Bowl is holier than now. I just I just
don't think it's that much more special than every other bowl.
I would go see Clemson play in the Rose Bowl
because I feel like you have to do that at
some point in your life. But I don't think I

(28:19):
do not buy into the theory that some people have
to say the Rose Bowl should be the national championship
venue every single season. I say, bull butter to that
but I had an art. There was an article that
came out or a press release that came out from

(28:41):
the College Football Playoff talking about some scheduling stuff. So
when I stumbled upon the article title, I thought the
Rose Bowl was going to be shifting to a different day.
But that's just not the case. The Rose Bowl will

(29:01):
has agreed to kick off a little bit earlier. The
Rose Bowl will start an hour earlier than this traditional
window and kick off at four PM as a part
of ESPN's New Year's Day triple header of college football
of the quarter finals this season, So that's the change,
not a day change. Here's what it looks like this season.

(29:24):
So the quarterfinals will begin Wednesday night, December thirty first,
at seven point thirty at the Cotton Bowl. Then on
Thursday at noon, it'll be the Orange Bowl on ESPN.
Then at four o'clock it to be the Rose Bowl
on ESPN. And then January first, on that Thursday at

(29:47):
eight o'clock, it'll be the Sugar Bowl. A little well,
I guess a week from that day is Thursday, January
the eighth, you'll get the the Bowl Playoffs. In my final,
and then on the ninth at seven thirty on ESPN,
you'll get the Chick fil A Peach Bowl, and then

(30:09):
the National Championship will be ten days after that, on
January nineteenth, twenty twenty six. But when I saw that
the Rose Bowl time had moved up, I thought they
were going to jump off of that January first day
that they really try to protect. And you know, I
really think the question around college football at this point.

(30:31):
Talking about spring games the other day, and what are
we going to do with those? Et cetera. What if
there was just really preseason games, like legitimate ones. You know,
I talked a lot about how we can make these
games more competitive, et cetera, et cetera. But what if
we just scraped the spring game. You can still have

(30:52):
spring practice, scrap the spring game. But what if every
team played a couple of preseason games? Now, how would
you fancy that? And you could do the things that
I always try to protect. You know this, You listen
to the show enough, the regionality of the sport, having

(31:15):
schools with smaller programs and smaller budgets play against the
bigger schools in a couple of preseason games. Clemson might
host Wofford and the Citadel in South Carolina might host
Furman and Presbyterian, you know, something like that, and instead

(31:37):
of having spring games, have a couple of preseason games
and start them a little bit earlier. And I know
the August weather probably sounds terrible to you, but if
you weren't determined that you had to have those games
necessarily televised, like you know, think about the preseason games
in the NFL. They're not all on television. You can

(31:59):
find them if you have like the package. But every
game in all of these areas could kick off at
the exact same time. Every game, you know in the
Southeast could kick off at seven o'clock, and that way
you kind of push the heat of the day away, right,
and then you would have it as a preseason game.

(32:21):
That really wouldn't matter per se in terms of determining
what your team looks like. Now, the polls might not
be out yet, and that would be okay, because what
that would allow is for like you to instead of
taking into account, Okay, this team looked bad against Furman,
and this team played poorly against Chattanooga or whoever. You

(32:44):
would say, all right, well, were there any major injuries? Yeah,
their star running back got hurt Okay, well, they're probably
gonna start a little lower in the polls because of that,
but you're not going to judge them by how they
look against you. And see Greensboro, I don't even know,
does you and CG have a team? Okay, Georgia Southern,

(33:04):
I know they have a team out of SoCon. So
from there you would kind of gain some insight in
your team a couple of weeks before the season. It
gives you the preseason game that Dabosweeney kind of talks about.
You basically eliminate a wasted opportunity in the spring. You
create two games for the programs around the country, and

(33:28):
you don't have to move the calendar. You don't have
to change the start and the end dates of the
playoffs or anything. Now. Granted, I kind of before that
a little bit, changing the calendar dates some even starting
the season a little bit earlier and sliding things back
so that so that the football season doesn't push so

(33:50):
far into January, and you could continue to keep the
playoff the way you have it. But I do kind
of feel like it is my opinion that perhaps one
of the things that we could do is offer a

(34:11):
couple of spring games everybody plays smaller opponents, benefiting the
smaller schools. You could even take them off of the
regular season schedule at that point, up the value of
your regular season games. And if you wanted to take
that game as a legitimate preseason game, you play your

(34:33):
starters in the first half, You set those guys the
rest of the game. You let the other guys go
out there and see what they can do. I think
that is the best idea for both worlds. And if
a conference goes to a nine game conference schedule, you
don't really impact losing matchups like Clemson in South Carolina

(34:56):
or whatever, Clemson in Georgia, because you've now bumped those
smaller games off of your schedule. They're now preseason games.
I like it. Let me know you think eighth three, four, five, zero,
zero eighty six the show that shakes the Southland. Clemson
sports saw last night the Clemson softball team went on

(35:16):
the road to number one Tennessee and came away with
a four to three victory at nine innings. Now you
might say that's not an unusual nine innings, Well, softball
play seven. I've said baseball could benefit from the softball timeline.
You will not talk me down off of that seven

(35:37):
innings who for baseball would be awesome because what I feel,
and look, there's purist out there among us all that
will say no way, and for all I know, maybe baseball,
at some point, many many years ago, did it always start?
Did baseball start with nine innings? Like I wonder what
the original rules of baseball were. But the thing that

(36:02):
I've always said to kind of justify this, and most
baseball purists and people that just love the game openly
admit this, there are from probably the probably the fourth, fifth,
and sixth innings somewhere in there are just kind of
innings that you can just sort of feel like you
tune out. It's like you watch innings one, two, and

(36:22):
three to see if anything gets going. Then you watch
innings seven, eight nine to see if you can win
or how you've done. The middle third is rough, and
I'm not suggesting getting getting rid of all of it, right,
I mean, I think you have a good three at

(36:44):
the front, you have a good three at the back.
You got that one in the middle. So the interest
of the first three innings and the last three innings
is much more concise, much more concise. Eight oh three
four five h zero zero eighty six. But anyway, congratulations
with John Ripman and the Clemson softball team on their

(37:07):
victory last night, and then for the Clemson baseball team
solid victory over the Georgia Bulldogs last night as well.
Georgia and Clemson the top five matchup. The Tigers are
number two in all polls. Clemson to go to the
number twenty five NC State this weekend. INCA states that's
no pushover. It's gonna be tough against the wolf Pack.

(37:29):
But if there's a positive for Clemson, I think, you know,
one of the criticisms I have, or really had going
into that series against Louisville last weekend is sort of
how much meat's been on the bone? How great are
the teams that Clemson has faced thus far? And what

(37:51):
I said a few weeks ago was this is the
stretch Louisville, Georgia, n C State, Florida State. That's a
real test of your metal. And I think the benefit
or the good thing is for Clemson to this point
they got a lot of confidence right now. They should
have a lot of confidence. By the way, Tomorrow's game

(38:13):
seven o'clock gonna be on the ACC Network. So you'll
be able to catch that one on your television, and
then the other two games six o'clock Friday on the
ACC Network Extra and one o'clock Saturday, also on the
ACC Network Extra as Clemson goes up to face off
with NC State. But there's no doubt that this seems

(38:36):
having a lot of fun. The other thing too, like
watching Ree Garris on the mound last night. I mean,
the energy he is, he's wound up. It's an energetic group,
you know. I think it was Tiger comments or on
social media that tweeted it looked like it looked like
a priest was rounding the base. You know, he got

(38:58):
thrown out at home like he was dragging a piano. Yeah,
Colin Price is not the fastest guy in the venue,
but I'm not gonna knock his hustle to try to
put a little insurance run on the board late in
the game for Clemson. But that's the other thing that

(39:19):
I really think you see when you watch this team,
like guys trying to leg out a ball into the
gap that's being played pretty well played by a shortstop
or a second baseman and instead of kind of loafing
down the line or lollygagging. It's all out relentless effort.

(39:46):
And because of that, there were a couple of times
in the ballgame, and have been in the past couple
of games where that pressure that you apply, just the
pressure that you apply by relentless effort, causes a wild throw,
a high throw, a ball that pulls the first basement

(40:08):
off the bag. Like if you truck it and you
give everything you've got, you increase the chances that you
are going to be safe, not because you've outrun the play,
but because you've forced the defender to get uncomfortable with

(40:30):
just the exchange of you know, the ball from his
glove to his throwing arm, and that I am. I
do not have any evidence in terms of you know, oh,
I've been tracking this data for years or anything like that,
but it does feel like there's a new energy in

(40:53):
that sense when you watch this team and watch every player,
watch how hard those guys get down the line, and
watch how frequently it's a bang bang play at first
or it's a play where the ball gets past the
first baseman and Clempson is able to advance to second base,

(41:14):
or even just securing the first back when otherwise they
would have been out that comes from the coaching staff,
that comes from Eric Backage, and whether or not this
team gets to Omaha or Whens, a super regional or
regional whether or not any of that happens is probably

(41:38):
neither here nor there in the sense of what you
feel you see in this program and what the future
looks like. Granted, I think we'd all love to have
a summer where we're talking about Clemson and Omaha, and
we'd all love to talk about a national championship for
this baseball program. But I think more specifically, what you

(41:59):
can talk about discuss in full transparency is the effort
that this team plays with, and that effort directly leads
to plays that become catalysts along the way to some
of the improbable wins that we see. Quick Break Hour

(42:19):
number two is right around the bin here on Fox
Sports Radio fourteen hundred keep it locked.

Speaker 1 (42:25):
Each time for Clipson Sports Talk with luwten Schwan.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
It is our number two. That's drive time right on
the show that Shakespa south Plant, Clemson Sports Saltog Swad
hanging out with you on a Wednesday afternoon aight oh
three four five oz Rosie or eighty six that is
the text line in the phone line. And don't forget

(43:26):
show the Shakespa South Plane. Brought to you in part
by our good friends over at METS Plumbing seven three
two Drip, Drip, Drip drip. You know the jingle that's
seven three to two drip. That's Mets Plumbing mets plumbing
dot com also the website. All right. As we mentioned
in our number one, a big night for the Clemson

(43:48):
baseball and softball team. Softball goes on the road to Tennessee.
If you're just joining us in the car on a
Wednesday making your way home. Clemson softball tops number one
ranked to See four to three and nine innings. That's
their first ever victory over our, a number one ranked
team in softball, the thirty ninth all time win over

(44:09):
a number one team in Clemson history. As for the
Clemson baseball team, they are ranked number two in the country.
They topped Georgia three to nothing last night. So a
big evening, all of it. Not in Clemson with the
Tigers being on the road the softball team being on

(44:31):
the road in Knoxville, but a big night for the Tigers.
As a matter of fact, my buddy Francis texted me
and I got softball exclamation point, And I thought to myself,
because Francis and I had been talking about the baseball

(44:54):
game coming up, and we were thankful that it was
starting at eight o'clock last night because we both were
at the soccer field and knew that we wouldn't potentially
be back home in time to really watch the game
if it had been a seven o'clock start. The eight
o'clock start was much more advantageous since our soccer matches
had to start early. Anyway, back to the lecture at

(45:15):
hand here. When I got the text message, just softball,
I thought to myself, I wonder what the reference is.
I didn't think that myself Clemson had beaten Tennessee. I
just thought, what's the reference? Was there some kind of

(45:36):
underhand throw? Was there some kind of play that in
the baseball game that was gonna, you know, remind me
of softball or what? And then it started to come
across my feed and I saw pretty quickly, oh, softball
got the job say it would be now done, the

(46:00):
job done and won that matchup up at Tennessee. Now,
the other thing that took place last night and wasn't
sure when or if any of this was going to happen,
but Clemson basketball did add another prospect as former Middle
Tennessee senior guard just In Porter announced that he was

(46:24):
transferring to Clemson, choosing the Tigers over Arizona State, Ole Miss,
and other schools. Porter led Middle Tennessee in points per
game with fifteen this past season. He made eighty four
eighty four to three pointers and shot eighty two point

(46:44):
two percent from the free throw line in thirty three
minutes of action. Now, Clemson adds its sixth transfer to
the twenty twenty five class with Por or just pick
up Porter. Not a tall kid about six y one,

(47:09):
one hundred and eighty pounds, but also not a small kid.
I mean, the guy has worked and is a pretty
physical guard finishing at the rim, even though he's not
a big guy. Kind of reminds me back in the

(47:33):
day some of you might remember Clemson had a little
kind of scrappy guard, if you will, Rod Hall. I
think Hall was about six' two maybe somewhere in, there
two hundred and fifteen, pounds so pretty similar. Frame maybe

(47:56):
Maybe Vernon. HAMILTON i Think Vernon hamilton might have been
about six.' one but this kid really reminds me more
Of Of, rod hall kind of watching some of his
highlights and sort of the way that he plays and.
ATTACKS downhill i think what will be unique. To, see

(48:17):
obviously when you get To The Atlantic, coast conference you're
playing against bigger guards and, bigger competition and so that's
always a little bit of a concern for me when
you are talking about bringing in a little bit of an.
Undersized guard but he's got a quick, first step can

(48:38):
get to. The BASKET as, i mentioned. He's strong. He's
strong he's a, strong kid.

Speaker 6 (48:48):
But.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
GOOD pickup i think as a matter, of fact, you
know if he was if he was, SIX', five i
mean this would be a GUY that, would i think
probably be pursued by the top programs. In the, country he,

(49:11):
doesn't you know his form is his. Form is okay
but his ability to his ability to create off the
dribble and finish, at the rim to me are the
things that his size even going up, against you know
some six six sixty seven players in the paint me

(49:32):
probably occasionally ran into a. Six' ten, kid he's not
scared and, you get, some leadership you know, you get
some leadership be strong with the attack to the, basket
more than willing more than. Willing to Go downhill and
SO clemson with what i think is a big pick

(49:54):
up for this basketball team as they add Just Importer
again from middle tennessee to the class to this group
that they have now. Brought in This, SEASON and, for clemson,
i think you know with a couple Of Young, guys.
Like ace buckner, etc on the roster bringing in a

(50:17):
veteran guard gives you a guy that obviously knows what
it takes to play the amount of, minutes that he
played and he'll likely he'll likely play somewhere, in that
same range maybe a little bit less With The addition

(50:38):
of buddha. Johnson to, THE roster but yeah i. LIKE
to pick. Up i really do, again a little undersized
but you can't measure you can't measure a. Guy's heart
and desire and that's where he reminds Me A. Lot
of rod hall and we'll see if he brings that

(50:58):
To the table at clemson the Way He. DID at middle,
tennessee a, zero, three four five. Zero zero eighty six
so that's a little. Portal UPDATE for you as i
believe today. IS the final day i think the transfer

(51:18):
portal actually closed either last night at midnight. Or tonight
at midnight let me see? What midnight, last night so yeah.
Last night at midnight So technically you know wednesday today,
was to, cut off all right just wanted. To, double

(51:42):
check that, now you might say but doesn't what about
the guys that. Don't have a home what about the.
Guys that just entered you can, exit the portal anytime
you just can't enter the. Portal at any time so
that's how. The transfer a portal the transfer. Portal sort

(52:02):
of works it's, open or was open, and once it
closes nobody. Else can get in but you. CAN finalize
your destination i guess technically up until the. DAY of,
THE season i mean i don't know that there's really
anything stopping you from doing that except for the enrollment

(52:26):
at the school and how late they would accept somebody,
in the you know into the program. Or INTO the
school because i remember you had like what ten days
at the beginning of a. Semester something like that when when,
we were in college you had like ten days that didn't. Really,
COUNT or something, boy i tell you that's how you

(52:49):
know it's been a long time since. You've, BEEN in
college NOW i will say i do not go so
far back into college, days, where PEOPLE say well when,
i was, at school you know we. Had these punch
cards people would always TELL me that when i was
in college or just out of college or, registering, for

(53:11):
a class well what we have. Was these punch cards
and they would tell me something about like the professor
or somebody. Would SHAKE this thing, AND i was like
i do not understand what. Y'ALL are talking about i
have no clue how you selected your classes in, the
punch card era as, a MATTER of fact. BECAUSE i

(53:36):
Don't know i think i'm gonna watch a video after
the show today to. See How it worked but i'm not.
From That far back but i'll, BE honest with you
i don't remember about the whole like. DROP ad class deal,
i DO know this and i think most people who
have gone to. COLLEGE have this, dream i, always DREAM not,

(54:01):
always but i, think for whatever reason everybody that's been
to college has a dream where you forgot that, you
dropped the class and you've got, the final, coming up,
and so like you you finally go to the class

(54:24):
and you're, so out of. Sorts like, You, can't YOU'RE
going god DID? I how DID i HOW did i forget?
I had THIS class how? Did? I drop it like
it is, such a strange dream and there's never a
whole lot, of continuity to it, in the sense of,
AT least for me i never figure out THE resolution

(54:48):
to why i have forgotten or did. Not drop this
class and THAT is something that i think most people
who have. Been to college experience, it's FOR some reason
and i don't really know. What the reason is people
have told, me that, it's about you know stress and.
Being concerned, about things you know these dream the dream

(55:13):
like analysis people out there say that's why. We HAVE
that dream but i probably have, it once a. Year
maybe not anymore it's certainly become Less frequent the further
i've gotten. From the college experience but there are as,
A matter of fact, i'll tell you this it is
one OF the dreams THAT i HAVE when i, Realize

(55:37):
i am dreaming like there are times you have dreams.
You don't realize it BUT that's, One, Where i go
OKAY i'm dreaming because i start to try. To figure
IT out? Why am I here why did? I drop
THIS class why have i not. Been going to class
if my, dad's listening right, now, he's, probably, thinking hey
hey son probably because you didn't go to class. When

(55:57):
you were there had you gone the class, while you
were there you probably. WOULDN'T have that dream i, Don't,
KNOW about that dad i. DON'T know about THAT i
think it's i think it's universal to people, that went
to college regardless of their. ATTENDANCE to their classes a
ZERO three four five oho zero zero, eighty six, text line,

(56:22):
phone line and again you could be a part, of the,
program anytime any place anywhere, Over on Our website clemson.
Sports talk, DOT com all right. I mentioned it earlier
a big night last night for those of you just
joining us here in our Number two for the clemson
softball team Winning at number One tennessee and the clemson

(56:46):
baseball team As the second rank tigers Knocked. Off number
five georgia but Before, we hear from eric back at
You Now, number two john ritman following the softball win on,
The road last.

Speaker 3 (57:00):
Night what a Great win for the tigers tonight on
the road against the number one ranked. TEAM in the
country i was so proud of our pitchers facing or
just did a heck of a job in, the circle
for us gave. Us five strong innings brook, comes in
in relief just. Pitches her butt off, Our Defense was
outstanding maddy moore some great defensive plays at second, base

(57:21):
all night long and then just found. Ways to, score
runs you know. We weren't getting disappointed we knew we were,
facing a strikeout pitcher. But we kept battling we found
a way. TO score Runs tonight i thought pipkins at
bat was just huge for us there, in the last
inning and obviously a close, Play at the plate but
just loved the way we fought tonight, and got a.

(57:43):
Big big road win what.

Speaker 4 (57:45):
Does this freshman class kind of meant as they've kind
of picked us through this second, half of The season
and again macy with the lead off walk, to get
Us going and Then pickens. To, bring wilson.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
Home oh they've meant so. Much to this program they're, just,
they're such good. Hard hard working teammates they know how.
To win the light the moment's never, too big for him.
And They've been outstanding like macy drawing that Walk There.
Against an all american we put a. Pinch runner, in
ava in fact both of our. Pinch RUNNERS scored Tonight

(58:17):
but i thought ava, was really you know on top,
of when, she left you know leaving the bag in
a critical situation on the Fly ball left and pipkins
with the sac.

Speaker 2 (58:27):
FLY just huge there i can't say enough.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
About our freshman class there's a reason that we won,
a lot of games and they're a.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
Huge part Of That so that's john ritman again talking
about the freshman and the impact that they've. Had ON
this team, as i noted earlier and you know. It's
in the podcast you can. Always that's the thing you
guys can always dig it up. IF you, WANT to
i said i Really Thought, THAT minus valerie kgel i

(58:55):
was concerned that the way this team started three and
six would be perhaps the. Norm Of this season well
i'm eating my. Words on that one this team has
really responded and they've grown up. Right before your eyes
and for that win to come at this point in

(59:19):
the season On the road at tennessee a little feather
in the cap as you roll into your final series
and then POSTSEASON Play with the acc tournament AND Then,
ultimately the ncaa tournament that's a CONFETENCE building win and
i think it lets these girls. Know, on this team

(59:42):
hey you could play with. Anybody in the country and it,
wasn't like a FLUKE you, Know what i mean like You,
go up to tennessee hit a, couple of home runs
jump out, to a big lead. Whatever, you might, go
uh you know the odds that you do. That again
pretty slim but when you go up there and you

(01:00:05):
go to extra innings and you grind it out and
survive and win, WITH some clutch, hits i mean that that, to,
me tells you hey you could be as good as.
You want TO be, and so, i Think You know
for John ritman and, the tiger softball team. Just a

(01:00:26):
monumental win and to pull that off in the year,
after for me personally to pull that off In The year.
After valerie, cagle leaves and look they had To go
out to oklahoma two Years Ago in that super regional
and they went Nine Innings with that oklahoma sooner team,

(01:00:48):
that Was absolutely phenomenal and clemson had their chances. To,
win that game uh it's it's been obviously, not just
a year but two. Years since that, matchup But you
know the tigers were up seven to four in the

(01:01:10):
top of the seventh inning for A. CHANCE to give
oklahoma i think what would have been with their only
loss of the, year at that point. Or maybe their
second they were either they were either fifty six and
know at that point or fifty six and one if
they got three big runs in the seventh and won.
It in the ninth but in that, moment two years

(01:01:34):
ago as young, as the, program, was you, went okay
measuring stick this is what. It's like, to play you
know soft bought the, highest level last night not, in
a postseason environment not. In A postseason game but i

(01:01:55):
think similarly Check, the box for hey we. Can play
with anybody and all of the talking heads behind microphones
that wrote us off of we were three and six.
To start the year, during ten tournament games it. Went
four and six but we're a lot better than our

(01:02:17):
record stated. Out of the gates, AND you know what
i have to, agree at this point. And it's been
impressive the Show That shakes the, southland Clempson Of, Sports
tal lawton swan hey? KNOW with, you, again a, three
four five. Zero zero eighty Six Last night the clemson
tiger baseball team a three to zero Victory. Over number

(01:02:39):
five georgia and one Of The things that eric beckett's
talked about after the game was The electric environment. That
clemson fans created remember that was an eight O'clock start.
On A tuesday night here's backache kind of giving His
kudos to the clemson faithful for creating a. True home, Field, advantage.

Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
Uh yeah first just want To Shout out TO. Tiger
nation and DKs that was that crowd Is reminiscent. Of
the gamecock series that, looked like a. Regional super regional
crowd that was there was.

Speaker 7 (01:03:17):
Just an electric, factory there, was buzz it's, noisy it
was rowdy it was.

Speaker 6 (01:03:23):
Just it was perfect it's exactly what. We were hoping
for and to think.

Speaker 5 (01:03:28):
That we've got almost seven thousand here where we end up,
with sixty six hundred ten sixty Six hundred.

Speaker 6 (01:03:34):
On a tuesday, night obviously.

Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
You, know top ten Matchup, great program at, georgia a great,
team but, even still you know eight o'clock game with,
rain and the forecast and still to show up like
that and. Show out they were the crowd and the
fans were every bit is instrumental in that. Win and,
the win you know the word that kept popping in
my head was just like a.

Speaker 6 (01:03:57):
Surgical type of, performance, it was.

Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
Pitching defense timely hitting He got from tallon bell All
the way to Lucas mallstat the reed garris coming in
in the middle of a.

Speaker 6 (01:04:07):
OF an app at i thought that was a huge.
Part of the game but.

Speaker 5 (01:04:11):
The, pitching we, got tonight you know to shut Out
incredible offense like georgia has with all the, threats in their,
lineup with you know one hundred and five home, runs
on their team and.

Speaker 6 (01:04:23):
To put, up that many zeros.

Speaker 5 (01:04:25):
It's tough to do but just testament to all the
guys that went in there and just pounded the strike
zone and the defense, we played behind them and then
you know we got the time it hits. When we
needed them so they, have just a. Great great team
win very, proud Of our guys and i'll turn OUR
attention back to acc play and get ready To go

(01:04:46):
to nc.

Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
And, you heard coach THERE They're going to nc state
this weekend for a. Matchup three game Series And you
heard eric beckets there clips that going on, the road
this weekend the three Series, Against the wolf, pack and
you know. THIS is that stretch i Said it earlier and.
I'll say it again this is the stretch where we've

(01:05:13):
kind of talked about this team finding out just. How
GOOD they are and i noted A week Ago That
i think eric bacatch has added a unique level of
excitement around the program because of the. Fun that they're,
having and you Know They played the savannah bananas. During

(01:05:39):
this past offseason last, NIGHT during the game i saw
somebody in the In. The dugout with clemson it was
when they were going to A Review wearing, a savanna
bananas shirt probably A Member of. The savannah Banana's team
because the bananas are going To Be playing in death Valley.

(01:05:59):
Coming up on saturday it'll be the first Baseball Game
played in memorial stadium and the largest crowd To Ever
see the savannah banana's play a baseball game going to
be a short. Porch In left field the bananas are

(01:06:19):
going to be playing up against one, of Their Quote.
Rivals the party animals if You've Ever watched, any savannah
banana's game you know this Is Akin to the Washington Generals.
For the harlem globetrotters this is all A Part Of
The Savannah, banana's banana ball tour which Includes Stops at
seventeen major league baseball stadiums in four football. Stadiums across

(01:06:45):
the Country the game in clemson is The first time
the bananas will play in a. College football specific stadium
they Did play down in Tampa recently At The Tampa The.
Tampa Bay buccaneers stadium now clemson. COMPLETELY redid the field

(01:07:14):
i mean. It Looks incredibly impressive, the tigers Brought In,
according to david Hood senior, writer at tiger at two
hundred tons of red clay to create the infield, and
the warning track and they will take it out as
soon as, the game is over And, then by next

(01:07:36):

some vip Guests scheduled but the banana's made the final

(01:08:17):
Decision on. Those, after, CLEMSON'S recommendations Now personally i think
tiger fans are super excited about this event and the
Opportunity To see the. Savannah, bananas this weekend now thinking

(01:08:40):
through the, game, and, their rules right like that's, that's
The Big deal. The savannah banana rules, so if you're
going we'll tell you about the rules. When we get.
Back it's pretty extensive but their goal was to make

(01:09:04):
Baseball Fun and the savannah bananas have done that and
they've made. It exciting for, fans MY biggest ISSUE and
i think i said. This THE other day if, I
didn't SAY it i. KNOW i thought it i do
think there's a saturation, point where you go how many times? Can?
You see it now that theory Worked Well, for the

(01:09:26):
harlem globetrotters that theory Worked Well, For the Ringling Brothers,
barnum And bailey circus the bananas seem more exciting than
both of, those, EVENTS quite frankly so i think they
have the chance for. A very long run but longevity

(01:09:47):
would be the main. Hurdle In my opinion but i'll
tell you how they score it and. How the rules
look if you're Heading Up, there to. Death valley this,
Weekend Right after this lawton swan, back with with you
the Show, That Shakes The. Southland, clemson Sports Talk now
the savannah bananas are going To Be Playing in clemson's

(01:10:10):
memorial stadium in just. A couple of Days, coming up on. Saturday.
They'll get underway now that game will be televised AT seven,
o'clock on espn two so you will be able to
watch it even. If you're not going as, a Matter

(01:10:31):
of fact the bananas have Joined Forces to BRING banana
Ball to. ESPN and disney platforms i believe it's also
going To Be, available on disney plus so you can
stream it as well IF. You don't have espn but
They're gonna be. At clemson this Weekend they'll Play in.

(01:10:53):
Nashville on May tenth They're in Charlotte At bank Of
america stadium. On june the Seventh, they'll BE. In Washington
d c on, June the Twenty eighth boston. On july
the Fifth they'll Be in philadelphia, On. July twenty sixth baltimore,
august first and second they're gonna play Back To Back

(01:11:16):
at camden. Yards august to Ninth they'll Be in, denver
And august fifteenth the Bananas. Will, be in chicago now
what you may not. Know is THE rules and what
i Mentioned Earlier about the savannah bananas is that the, teams,

(01:11:40):
that they play, okay the party animals, THEY'VE got. The
firefighters i believe and then there's A Group. Called the
texas tailgaters so. That's the four teams. But it's not baseball,

(01:12:06):
it's called banana ball and it's different because of the way.
The scoring is done so here's. How banana ball works
you get a. Point for, each inning you say. But,

(01:12:27):
what about. Runs yeah runs matter let's say the first
team scores two runs in the top half of the
first and the second team scores three runs the second,
that third run, scores that inning ends and the team,
that was batting second the home, team in this case. Would,
get a point now if the first team scored no

(01:12:52):
runs and the second team hit a hole run at
the first pitch, of there at bat they. Would get
one point in the inning, Would end and switch so
the pitcher might only, Pitch one pitch potentially. But it's about,
points so each inning either team has a chance to

(01:13:15):
earn a point based off of which team. Has the
most runs, if neither team scores or if both, teams
score two runs then there are no points. Awarded for
that inning there's a, two hour Time limit meaning the
clemson game that begins at seven will be over just

(01:13:37):
after nine o'clock because no new inning can begin after
a one hour and fifty minute one hour and fifty,
minutes a game time and the last inning in the final,
inning of the game, whatever ending that is every run,
counts as a point even if the home team has.

(01:14:00):
Already secured the inning now what that means is going back.
To that point system let's say the road team loses
every inning and trails. Six points to none they could
still score seven runs that would be converted to points

(01:14:23):
in the last inning, and win the game and that game.
Has lasted two hours now take that to baseball and how.
Long those games last if a batter steps out, of
the batter's box. It's an automatic. Strike no stepping out.
Bunting is not allowed if a, batter attempts to bunt

(01:14:44):
they are. Ejected from the game batters can steal first
base at any point, during the at bat any. Including
passball's wild pitches you could just run the first if
there's a as ball you. Could just take off. There
are no, walks instead of walks a batter advances to

(01:15:09):
first base on ball four and then sprints around the
bases while the defense tries. To tag THEM out and
if I, remember correctly watching clemson the what happened was,
when a guy walked every player on the defense has
to touch, the ball and once so they're doing like,

(01:15:30):
the three man weave but with nine guys trying to,
pass the ball around and, once everybody's touched it the guy.
Has to stop RUNNING that's the. Way i remember it
there are. No Mound visits allowed foul balls caught by.
The fans are outs so if there's a foul ball
into the stands and, if fan catches. It that's an
out i'll, BE honest with you i would not Be

(01:15:51):
Terribly Upset if major league. Baseball adopted that rule that
is the that makes the fans feel like they're a.
Part of the game then there is something called. The
showdown tie break if the game is tied after two,
hours or nine innings a showdown tiebreaker is used and
the batter must score from first base to get a point.
Or THEY are out so i don't know much about.

(01:16:13):
THE showdown tie breakers, i HAVEN'T seen that but i
Can Tell you the savannah bananas. Have some exciting rules.
It's a unique brand and if you are not gonna
Be At Almost. Said, doug kingsmore stadium ha if you're
Not Gonna be In, death valley on saturday be thankful
that it is gonna be on the air and you

(01:16:34):
will be. Able, TO watch it now i don't think
it'll be as fun as it Was when you watched
Clemson Play against the bananas bananas if you've got a.
Chance TO see that but i do think still, for
fans out there the Opportunity To see the savannah bananas
and See Them playing in death valley in all of,
the pomp and circumstance it's gonna Be brought Up about

(01:16:58):
clemson And clemson. FOOTBALL and clemson baseball i can't see
how this is a bad Deal. AT all, FOR clemson
i mean i think it's, a pretty. Genius move quite
frankly and then for those games to be broadcast where

(01:17:19):
people Can watch them and clemson is the only college,
VENUE on, the docket i. Mean that's just incredible what
an awesome Opportunity to showcase the. Tigers and, banana ball,
final segment flip. Side keep it locked.

Speaker 9 (01:17:35):
What have you? Done for me lately. It's a fair
question just don't lose sight. Of the bigger. Picture don't
forget history Lucky, for us at clemson the answer to
the questions what have you? Done for me lately and?

Speaker 6 (01:17:54):
What have you done.

Speaker 9 (01:17:54):

Speaker 2 (01:18:01):

need it the lakers down one game To None, against

(01:20:24):
the minnesota timberwolves a. SCARY team to face la wins at,
ninety four eighty five and, IT really You know i
think i'm still adjusting to The fact that the Lakers
Not only have Lebron James, and aging Lebron. James But
also luca and luca, was good last night great, in the,

(01:20:45):
first half first quarter but he scores thirty, one nine
to twenty shooting eleven of, eleven from the floor but
just rocketed. Out of the gates but when You're Going
up against anthony edwards. Always makes me nervous edwards Actually
didn't lead. Lead Minnesota, in scoring Julius, randall the former laker.

(01:21:06):
Did With twenty seven lebron, james scored twenty One but it,
was lucas Thirty one and the lakers WERE Fired up
after jj reddick called a time Out and got into

(01:21:27):
guy's ears after they had given up a little bit
of A Run. For the Minnesota timberwolves so the lakers.
Evened up that, Series also Last night indiana topped milwaukee one, twenty,
five excuse me one twenty three, to One point fifteen

(01:21:51):
giving indiana a two to. Zero series lead there And
Then you Had oklahoma city beating memphis one eighteen Ninety
Nine to give oklahoma city a two. To zero series,
lead coming up tonight three GAMES, Seven o'clock On. Tnt

(01:22:14):
Boston host orlando the celtics lead that series. One game
To none cleveland hosts miami AT SEVEN, thirty On nba
tv The cavaliers lead the heat, one game to none
and then at NINE, thirty Tonight On Tnt, the golden state,
warriors the seventh Seed. Face Off with houston the warriors

(01:22:38):
lead that series, one game to none so A huge
game for. Houston at HOME, tonight In the nba the
rockets are three and a half point favorites, going into
the ballgame so really good. PLAYOFF action so far i do, think,
the funniest moment. Though. HAPPENED two nights again i don't
