Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, you're traveling, you're staying in a hotel for
a few days. Do you tip housekeeping? It's one of
six monty seven AFM Covey and Christine. We're going to
talk about that right now. In fact, you are traveling
next week, going to Europe.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I love how I'm reading stories this morning. Vacations are
for lovers that supposedly like people feel very romantic about
going on vacation with their partners.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I really enjoy it, and it's a good break from things. Yeah,
I mean, who wouldn't be happy.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Right, I know it's true.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
So do you leave like a couple of bucks?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
You do?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I do?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Do most people do? No, No, I'm surprised.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Sometimes I talk with my friends and there, you know,
or we've shared rooms, and they said, what are you doing.
I'm like, I'm leaving a few bucks for the housekeeping.
You don't have to do that. Yeah, you do.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I think it's a good thing to do, especially in
the beginning, because I know you don't get the same
person every single time, but you might, you don't know.
But if you put like a five dollar bill on
the bed and just write housekeeping, Yeah, on that first day,
I just me and my wife. We notice it things
like just a little extra effort. It seems like unless
they do it all the time and we don't know it,
(01:06):
but it just seems like it's a little bit right.
The toothbrushes are perfect. Yeah, sometimes they'll they'll wrap up
the charging cords. Wow, even that they'll pull like a
not a bow, but they'll make it really nice and neat,
like if you have charging cables all over the hotel room.
Oh wow, So yes I know you.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Do, but yes I will do I kind of learned
actually from working here and getting these news stories that
we get. I used to like leave like a really
good tip at the end of the stay and and
they're like, don't. Don't do that, according to the experts,
because you do get different people every day, so maybe
the person who's been cleaning your room is now off
that day and they don't they don't get the tips.
(01:46):
So I try and leave something every day, not to be.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Selfish or anything, but when you do it at the
very end, even though it's nice, Yeah, they may not
get a chance to thank you. They're doing a little
extra for it, wrapping up those cords, those charging cables.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
So yeah, the etiquette experts are saying two to five
dollars per day is appropriate, and they suggest that you
leave the tip with in an envelope on the desk
or a nightstand with a note. I've made that mistake
to where I've just like left a few dollars and
I come back and I'm like, oh, they didn't take
it right. You have to you have to write no.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
But I've said, like, you knew, they're honest, They're very honest. Yes,
I wanted you to take that.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
I'm starting to notice though recently, when when we've stayed
at places recently, the housekeeping will leave a note with
their name, like, hey, you know you're enjoying your stay,
And I think, okay, that's the sign. You know, there's
a little smiley face. Let me leave a few dollars
here with that note that they've left.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
So the world the story is if you can tip
the housekeeping, although I will say Europe sometimes is questionable
because they don't tip as much as we do here
in America. You know, like even at a restaurant here
we go, yeah, like I know there's there is tipping, but.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Not as much as special definitely not like just the
spare change, like what right, So, now what do I do?
Because we're going to Europe?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, so you're going to Europe. I would just to
be safe, yes, I would take whatever the currency is,
yea leave you know, the equivalent of two or four
or five dollars, just to show that you care. And
anywhere are you going again? Tell the audience where.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Oh we're doing a beautiful trip from Prague to Budapest
to Vienna and.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
You're leaving wednesday, right, yes, good for you.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, we're being gone. I'm gonna be gone for a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
You need this break, thank you?
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yes, And I ordered the money yesterday, you know, because
it's euros. But in Hungary they have their own money.
You ordered it, ordered it like went to the bank
and you basically have to order it. So if you're
planning on traveling and you want to have some cash
on you, so you land because a lot of times,
like cars and whatever you need or like small vendors,
they want cash. They don't want the credit cards.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
So just so we have something that's cool. All right,
Well we got we got you for a few more
days before your vacation. Happy Friday. You have the news
coming up?
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Right, Yes? So If you're like me and you cover
the toilets see like crazy when you use a public restroom,
is that really doing anything
