Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Friday, the thirteenth. Lots talk about you got Father's
Day weekend too, Sunday being Father's Day, Dad's expecting gifts
may make out like bandits. This year, according to the
National Retail Federation, spending for Father's Days expected to hit
a record breaking twenty four billion dollars. Do you know why?
That's because back in our day, you know, we gave

(00:22):
socks and stuff totally. Well, now it's not about socks anymore,
and ties or old spice. Nowadays, shoppers are going to
you know, pretty much buy gadgets for dads, outdoor gear,
experiences like concert tickets, sporting events, backyard hammocks. About seventy
six percent of Americans say they'll be celebrating Father's Day
this year, and nearly half are picking out a gift

(00:45):
just for their dad or step dad. And they also
say they'll be shopping for their husbands twenty five percent, sons,
twelve percent, brothers, nine percent, friends, eight percent, grandfathers.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Grandfathers don't make out on this only gets six percent.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yeah, yeah, well granddad's you know, they've seen it all,
they've done it, they've done that. They probably have it
all on their shelves somewhere.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
That's true. I will say, it's so much more help
when your dad actually tells you what they want. That's
the problem with father's days. I don't need anything, and
then you don't have to get Just tell us, right,
help us out.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
What are you gonna get your dad?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I'm going to get him a subscription. There's a streaming
service that he would love that he doesn't have that.
I'm going to get him a subscription for he likes,
you know, watching movies on his phone.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
That's a great idea. That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
And you know your dad lives in Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
He lives in Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Okay, what's the streaming service he wants.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's called it's called Watermelon Pictures. I know, I know
he's an Arab and it's Arab films and movies from
like old movies and new movies. It's just a random name,
though I know it's a good well and it's not
a random name. It's a very specific thing.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
But but it sounds like if.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
I you would like watermelon pictures, right, I thought it
was just about food, like it sounds. It's a nice name,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, Yeah, Okay, so you're getting that for him.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I'm getting him this app Yeah, and.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Kristin, I really guess we can't talk about what you're
getting your dad because he might be listening. He's definitely listening.
But my mom gave me a hint, and I told
her not to tell my brothers because I want to
be the one to buy it. Oh, because then if
somebody else buys it, I have no more ideas. And
a gift card it is. So it's not a gift
card this year. Not a gift it's dad.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
You're getting something good, you know what?

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Come to figure it? Dad should do registries? We should
you know, why not like go like start a registrate,
Amazon or Target? We could do an Amazon wish list. Yeah,
like it's Christmas or something. I'm getting nothing though. Again,
if I get two hours of TV, I'll be happy.
Give me a two hours of golf on Sunday, that's
your thing, that's what you I just want to watch
the US Open from four to seven.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
And you want some food? Do you want someone to
make you a lunch?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
And I would like to hang out with the family
and go to the restaurant of my choice. Oh, that's nice.
A nice chain restaurant. Give me, give me a Buffalo
will Wings like that, I'm very easy. Give me a Chili's.
Give me my baby back, baby bad bait. Just give
me something chill and I'm good to go. Okay, nice
and again, Happy Father's Day to all those celebrating out there,
