Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, Caitlin, you were in the Elite eight for the
first time. Give me your initial reaction. How's it feel?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Really really exciting, It's a great feeling.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
What was the message at halftime? I mean, you couldn't
find anything to drop in the first half.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
No, we really couldn't. But I really it was a
lit on the hoop.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yeah. I think I told Ash that basket's really friendly,
so we're gonna have a great second half. And I
mean it worked out, but I mean we were getting
great shots in the first half. We were open, but
we just weren't able to knock them in. And we
knew that they were gonna fall at some point as
long as we just kept running.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Our offense kept getting good shots.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
It seemed to be very physical in there, and you
were able to match that. And then that third quarter defensively,
you just took it up one more notch.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
And what was was it more.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
By design and how you were defending or just do
you think the energy when you're coming out of the
locker room.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I think a combination of both. We turned up our pressure.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
We made things really difficult for them, Clogged up passing lanes,
clogged up driving lanes, and I thought we did a
really great job of boxing our rebounding in that third quarter.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, you certainly did. Forty three forty one y out
rebounded them with guys, did a great job the offensive blast.
But we needed to ask about your teammate. Miss Becker's
Debbie saw this a lot. They worked underscreens a lot.
That gave Page a lot of open looks.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah, they did.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
I don't know, seemly that the high screen she would
just do her curl and was open and we're surprised
that's how that worked.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I mean it was great. I mean she was getting
those same shots in the first half too. They just
started falling in the second half.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
What was it like to watch that go just I
mean the first what five and a half minutes of
the fourth she had fifteen points alone.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, I mean it's and it was the flow of
the offensive it is. Yeah, it was incredible. I mean
she does every day in practice, so it's honestly not
a surprise, but definitely a lot of fun to watch
and a lot of fun to play with knowing that
if you got the ball, she's gonna make it.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Talk about actually guard rebounding in the sense, you know,
you had the bigs a going against Spears, but you
know she's bombing in there on the rebound and we actually,
you know, right in front of us, we saw yours
were you almost almost it was almost the end wanted
was that more bike committee that you all knew that
you had to dive in on there to control the Bards.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Coach definitely emphasized the rebounding. He said, if we won
the rebounding battle, then that would take up a lot
of the game. That would help us win the game definitely,
And I think it was a focus for us for
sure in that second half, especially just locking in and
getting after every loose ball. I mean we only had
twenty minutes left to play and just giving it our
all for those twenty minutes.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Caitlin, the defense was phenomenal. You hold into a season
z one points of fifty nine. What was some of
the keys to this game coming in? What was the
scouting report to defend them?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Definitely getting back in transition and being there to help
our bigs. I mean, Reagan Biers is a phenomenal player,
so just being there to help each other out and
making sure we got out in jooters.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Do you think it seemed.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
From my perspective, I'm just curious they're tired fatigue that
you actually wore down Oklahoma from that throughout the fourth
you know, third and fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I think there what day.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
They play at a fast pace, but you kind of
plays pretty darn fast and the tempt it tamp it
just seemed to go your way, and that was a figures.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah, definitely they played super fast, but we were able
to match that, and I thought we were able to
put even more pressure on them, just getting back in transition.
We got a ton of transition baskets at the third quarter,
and we definitely wore them down.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I feel like, all right, can't.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
And we've got two Yukon teams in the final eight.
We got a hockey team possibly going to the Final four.
We got a women's basketball team possibly going to the
Final four. Let's make it happen Monday night.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Exciting.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
We'll see you.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Take hear that voice too? Is that a little scratchy?
She's got a frog in her throat. What a second
half for Yukon. They score fifty, Oklahoma scores just twenty
three season lowe points for the Sooners, and we're back
here Monday night at eight thirty for the elite eight
