Speaker 1 (00:00):
Chris Daly has joined us for the daily recap. Why
you're pulling a Moulky, I like the look.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Do not say that she's Michael Jackson. I'm just normal.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
You're just a regular outfit.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Well, how about that second half by your team? I mean,
the first half it almost seemed like a lid was
on the hope because you had open looks.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
But the second half was a different story.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Those were I thought the shots that we were getting
were good shots, and like you said, the shots that
we normally make, and we just didn't make them. Unfortunately,
our defense was good enough to hold us and keep
us in the game. And then in the second half,
you kind of have a feeling that those shots are
gonna fall, and they did, and then our defense still held.
Our defense was tremendous and we held them. That was

(00:41):
their lowest point total for the year.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yep, not only in a game, but in the second
half too.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I mean, what were some of the what were some
of the keys coming in were some of the focuses
defensively against them?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Well, no threes, but that didn't work as well in
the first half. But we did a really good job
on Verrholz in the second half, we didn't give her
any open looks. Rebounding was a big key, trying to
make sure that we managed the rebounding and we won
the rebounding.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Battle and the offensive rebounding taps.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
And we thought, you know, we could We thought we
could pressure them some and get some you know, offense
off our defense, which we were able to do that
as well.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
You have eighteen to five off turnover today. They are
well known for turning the basketball over. You took care
of the ball today, only one turnover in the second half.
That had to be a big plus two in the
second half.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
So yeah, you know what, They're a tough team because
they post up. Not only do they have Reagan Beers
in the middle, but they post up their bigger guards
and they do that constantly, and they were putting us
in positions like where Asier is gonna have to guard
a post up in Caitlin. So it was really important
that we defended and put more pressure on the ball,
and we did that for the most part. You really

(01:45):
can't complain about our defense just because they're a really
good offensive team and we really limited them all.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Right, Page scores forty, but a lot of the times
that mid range was so open for because the Oklahoma
defenders were going under the screen a lot well, and.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
They were playing off Jenna.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
They were not guarding our big and so she was
in Reagan Beers was in drop coverage. So that kind
of opportunity is always going to be there. And I
thought there were times that, you know, I thought in
the first half, we spent a lot of times passing
the ball around outside and we needed to put the
ball on the floor a little bit more and then
be able to kick out for three.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
And we did that a little bit more.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Got some layups back cuts because they were trying to
pressure a little bit more as well.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
So it's just a you know page I.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Accused her of just I said, did you were you
tired or did you just want an ovation? And she
actually was tired, so she asked to come out.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Yeah, fourth us could ever get forty most in an ncation.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I remember Nikeisha Sales got forty two in a regular
game six in Orlando.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, yeah, I remember.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Nikkeisha Sales was she was coming off the course zone.
It could hardly breathe and think they can't guard me.
They can't guard So I always remember that one, but
I don't remember anyone else.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
I got forty ye right, here's your list.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Nikeisha Maya did it twice, really twice, forty against Sarahcuse
and that oh yeah, and yeah, well they trashtalcked early too. Yeah,
big mistake when a teammate eighteen threes and the game
win number eighty nine. In twenty ten December of twenty
ten against Florida State, Maya did that twice.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
She had forty one. Yeah, and then Katie Lou Oh.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
That's right, yeah, yeah, that was yep, yeah, yep, I
remember that one.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
All right.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
It was a tough day shooting for Sarah, but eleven rebounds.
Jenna had nine today, but Sarah also had five assists. Yeah,
she had a tough assignment with Reagan Beers, but I
thought she held her own given the fact that she
had some shooting issues, She's finally ways to contribute.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I thought both Jenna, actually all three, Jenna, Ice and
Sarah did a good job. They battled her and she
ended up I think with ten and ten. But I
thought those were hard fought buckets that she did get.
We I thought did a good job with that. And
you know, Sarah's certainly undersized. Jen is the one size
wise I can match up, but Ice and Sara are

(04:05):
both undersized, so they really had to battle and work
hard and do their work before and keep her off
the box. But I mean we're going to be like
that almost in every game at this point, where we're
going to be a little undersized or we'll have like
one matchup because they're every like case state. If they win,
they have a big player, a big post player, and
I know us see the kid Raya Marshall is a

(04:26):
pretty physical post. So we've got we've got to work
cut out either way.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Well, the good thing is you don't have to fly
home tomorrow. Yes, we all get to stay home and
you get through practice. We can all watch the hockey
game tomorrow. Yes, Geno's is exciting.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I tell you.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
I was in my hotel room the Polos, you know,
Michael and Paul. They wanted me to go out. I said, no,
I'm so engrossed into this hockey game.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Well, I have to say so.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
You know, coach Gino's had a lot of success and
a lot of the coaches on campus ask him to
speak to their team, but they don't understand.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
It's like the kiss of death.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Every time he talked to someone, they end up losing,
so that when he went up to Boston for the game,
I'm texting Mike Kavanaugh was saying, Oh, I'm so relieved
that he didn't talk to your guys. And he said no,
and he showed.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Me a picture and I was like, oh, bad mistake.
And they lost the next game.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
So I text cav today and I just said, I'm
doing my best to keep him as far away from
your guys as I possibly can.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
So we're on the web.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
We couldn't be much far.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
So I feel much more comfortable and confident in our
huskies for tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
If they play the way they did yesterday, they will win.
But it's going to be hostile territory. They're playing an Allantown,
Penn State's hosting, so but I would say this Alfon
Arena and Orno is as tough a place in Hockey East.
It's going to be kind of like that tomorrow and
Ukon had no issues up.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
You know, it's so great. And I said this to
my Kavanough too. The first time you do anything, it's
so special and it'll never be the same. So I
really hope that he and the team and everyone associated
with the programmer really enjoying it. Because once you do
it once, then the expectation is that you're doing it right.
But to do it that one time and to really
appreciate it and enjoy it. I hope that they're doing

(06:04):
that in Allentown, of yeah places.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
And you get to all these consecutive sweet sixteens, I'm
another thirty one in a row, thirty two all time.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Oh yeah, they gotta do photo work. So here she's
not doing anything.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Goofy to you, sorry, But to be like what twenty
nine and three now in sweet sixteen.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Games, Oh I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
I mean I didn't even know who had forty points,
So you're asking the wrong person, all right.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
But that's just the consistency you talk about that you know,
wanted to get back each and every year, and you
guys just continue to do it.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
It's amazing what you guys are able to do.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
You have to give our players a lot of credit
because I feel like they know, I mean, they think
they know what they're in for when they come to
Yukng with the you know, they have definitely a target
on their back. But for them to embrace it, and
embrace it, how hard it is for so long. It's
a credit to the kind of players that we're able
to bring here.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
We'll see you Monday.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Thank you,
