Speaker 1 (00:00):
What a great night Friday was. It really was, what
a fantastic night. Everything about it, everything about it was great.
And I think that if we pulled, are the winners
that were there.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I bet they had a great time.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Absolutely everybody seemed like they were in such a good mood.
I also can't believe, like I mean, listen, I've never
been in there, right, I've never been in Toby's Dinner
theater before.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
We had a good section. We had a really good section.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I don't think there's a bad seat in the house.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
No, no, no, I meant like sizing wise, sizing.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Big chunk of the theater.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, and like for for shows that sell out, for
them to give us that, that was really really nice.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Well what were they saying ELF for for Christmas time? Well?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
No, they said last year for Sound of Music, I
sold out before even staging the first night.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
But didn't they say running close.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
People, if you want ELF tickets, it's running close. Absolutely,
I'm definitely seeing ELF. I'm trying to get the family
to go back this Friday for a Little Mermaid?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Are you really?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I am? I think they'd love it. Lindsay's a big
Little Mermaid fan, and I know the kids would enjoy
the show.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I mean it was because they coming to a fantastic
little Mermaid's coming to a close soon.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
I think there's a three weeks left maybe, Oh okay,
August seventeenth, Oh okay.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I thought it was less than that. But that's good.
Do you want me to call Cheryl?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I don't need free tickets the no, but just it
might Friday. I might be sold out.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
I didn't check yet.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
You want, I'll call Cheryl. I'd call Mark, but I
called Cheryl. I would not I'd call Toby.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Stop raving about it over the weekend to my family.
I when I was working in the yard on Saturday,
I was listening to the original cast recording from the
London production of Saturday Night Fever Musical because I want
to go see that too now.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Oh yeah, that that is that the one that's coming next.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
That's the next one right before elf? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
And where was the cast recording you were listening out
of London and put that on our list?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I was so angry with myself for having never been
there before. From the lobby.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Oh see, that's unfair, that's unfair. That's unfair.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
No, no, like I can't get by it all the
time I turn around in their parking lot.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
But I can't.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
No, I can't be mad at myself for never having gone.
I would be mad at myself if I don't go again. Yeah,
like that's where I'll be mad at myself.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, I'm possibly going Friday. It was so well done,
and I don't just mean The Little Mermaid, which was fantastic,
but everything about the way it was run, and it's
not like it was run differently because we were there.
This is what they do, eight shows a week. It
was great.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Who is the what is the Ariel's dad? What is
that character's name? Triton?

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, he listens, he's a listener. And then Mary Kate
she is she? She she worked on our table.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah, the she she's a listeners. She played. She had
a bunch of parts in there, A bunch of parts
in there. Yeah. No, No, it was awesome. It was great.
What up Prince Eric? The he listens? Also? The No,
it was awesome. I had the best time. I really did.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
And they were just so talented. Like, uh, I know
Elliott that you thought one of the eels was a
better skater. That is true, the other one, No, that
is true outside of their ability on Rollerblade. Yeah, everyone
was just unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Even the bad skater. Well, the lesser skater wasn't bad.
He just wasn't as good as the other one. Listen,
I can't help it. I have a critical eye for theater.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But Ursula was fantastic.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Ye, she was really really good.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Sebastian was great.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
He was really really good.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I really liked Grimsby. Uh the who's grim? Nikki who
played Flounder was a great just played that role so well,
Oh he's good and isn't he isn't he dating one
of the other.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Women one of the cast members, right, okay, fiance would
indicate their dating. Yes, Chef was great. I'd like to
be the part of Chef because I don't like I can't.
I can't but like like and he could. But of
all the parts where you don't really have anything, they

(04:21):
can all sing fabulous voices. That's the other thing I couldn't.
I couldn't be in that.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I watched them and go I could never do that.
I could never do that.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Scuttle was great also that audience is right on top
of them, Like if you fart, they hear you, Like
I don't know, no, no, but like I don't know,
like what's a like, what's a what's a famous Broadway
show Hamilton? If if Lynn Manuel Morana rips ass, nobody
hears that, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
I don't know how you can go there and not
walk away.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
They are right right, And what I say right on you.
I don't mean like it's uncomfortable, but you're right there.
But an appreciation filler, it's so different from a normal
play situation.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I got my dinner on the stage.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
There's so much potential for distraction, but it just sings
the praises of the professionalism of the cast.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I was gonna say hi to one of them when
they were coming right by me. My sorry.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Elliott did also start pretending he was swimming everywhere during intermission.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
And it pissed the entire table off.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Everybody got so because they don't make it look like
they're swimming, like they just moved their arms very subtly.
I didn't even know anybody else picked up on it
other than me, So at one point when I was
going to get my complimentary drink, I just kind of
pulled myself up like that.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Oh that was missing. When Elliott made his way through
the theater where the silks you needed the silks to
be following. And that's the other thing too. I didn't
expect so many costume changes and the amount of time
just put into that aspect of the production. Yeah, they
didn't half asst I what I expect there to be.

(06:11):
There's gonna be choreography, and there's and there's going to
be direction. But it was a beautiful show to watch.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Oh one other.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Thing, is that all Mark that did that? Say?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Again?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
I mean if he's the if he's the director and
the choreographer, is he the one who comes up with
those ideas? I mean he also does the casting, Yeah,
produce it.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
He does a lot.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
He also emails with Kristen to get winner's names. I'm
like Mark. I think Mark does. Like between Mark and Cheryl.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, they made they made they.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
At first I thought we did these. They Toby's did these.
They made they made tabletops for us out of our artwork.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
It was great, No, it was great. There's a big poster.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I meant to bring that in today. It's in the garage.
Well I didn't want to bend it with my hockey bag.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
But the U in your garage at home.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Yeah, okay, well I didn't leave it out downstairs.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Were going to display this. I know I'll bring it
in tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
But yeah, they made like they were so nice. And
I'll tell you what. Robert the guy who like, what
is I don't know what you're.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Actor?

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah, yeah, let me say this.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
You best be listening right now, because you promised you would.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
He did.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
He's never heard the show before.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
He had not, but you had also, Yes, he pointed out,
never been the Toby's that's true.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's true, but he had never he had never heard
the show before. And I was like, well, then you'll listen,
and he said, well, I usually listened to classical music.
And I was like, Robert, you will love it, you
will love it.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
I read an article about him over the weekend about
Robert Yes in two thousand and two. I hope that
year is right. He was shot in the head like
during a play, during a robbery.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Are you serious?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yes, he still has the bullet in his skull. Oh,
he could play Marry Joe. Butifuco if they do that
show at Toby's fingers crossed.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Mary Joe, the metal detector went off. I'm not bullet
in my head.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
He was back. Are you serious?

Speaker 1 (08:09):
He was.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
He was returning from a production at Toby's and was
outside his house in Silver Spring.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Are you serious?

Speaker 1 (08:17):
And he got shot in the head on the head
he said that the is that why he hasn't listened.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I think it was The Wizard of Oz they were
doing at the time, and he was the wizard and
used his costume to stop the bleeding. And he was
back on stage within a week at tobin.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Oh my god, are you serious?

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah? Isn't that crazy.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
I know a guy who's got a booboo on his knee.
It has been out for three weeks. He got shot
in the head. He was back in a week. Yeah,
are you serious?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Why didn't he.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Tell us that it happened a long time ago?

Speaker 1 (08:49):
But I know, but I feel like I would have
been less aggressive with him it didn't come. I would
have known he's got a bullet this he was wishing
the kid's happy birthday. Yeah, maybe he didn't think it
would go with the flow. It was so good but
didn't make you angry, Like they're talking about how they
just did the Music Man and they did nine to
five and you're like, I can't.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Believe I miss out on that and forty five other years.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
The no, but that's what I mean.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
You can't get mad for having never gone, because you
see and they mad at yourself for not going.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
In the future.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
You see some of the artwork and items that were
made to depict other shows that they've done there. Oh
I cannot wait to I really really hope to get
back there Friday.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Cheryl, I don't I'll call Mark. I don't need you
to call anybody. I will.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
It was so much fun. But the food was good too, Like,
obviously we're talking so much about the musical.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Well, that's what you go for.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I also, I didn't realize because I never saw much
corn I was gonna eat.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
I ate so much corn.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
And then there were like obviously we didn't have the
whole place, like we had a section of the place.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
But I sell out though too.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Oh yeah, no, it was sold out.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
But I did ask people on the other side of
the buffet line, what are you supposed to say to
your corn?

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Did you really?

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yes? Oh?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Can I give the best food tip? Of course, I
gave you a great food tip in Vegas for dessert.
I'm gonna give you a great Toby's food tip.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
You get the dingle hopper drink that we all got
that you didn't get.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I don't like I don't like key lime. I don't
like key lime. So good the no no. Yeah. By
the way, they have a full bar.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Yeah, and you order your intermission drink before the show
ever starts.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
So when it's.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Done, boom, some bastian's running.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Your drink right out to you.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
I think some of the listeners drink the some of
our some of our listeners got a little hammered.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
But that's okay. That's what you're there for you. That's
the night out time. You can do what you want.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
There was somebody who wasn't in our group, but he
brought his mom. He was the guy wearing the Brazilian
soccer shirt. But I think his mom. I think his
mom was celebrating her two hundredth.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
But the uh.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
No, but I was talking to him. But well, I
mean she got a wheelchair out of there. But I
think but like they were drinking.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, what about the second date couple.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Dude, that's a ballsy second date. That is about so great.
That's a ballsy second date. So yeah, one of our
one of our one of our winners. Their guest was
their second date. And then but you had the two sisters,
you had a lot of couples. You had the guy
that was sitting right next to us, he brought his daughter.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
They had just been in Disney last week.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
What about the guy he was sitting in the toilet
that morning.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Oh yeah, no, but he did say he wasn't going
to the toilet. He was.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
It was a quiet, quiet yes, because he works construction.
So he went into the porta potty to win his tickets.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
No, everybody, all the winners were so nice, and you
know what, they were respectful because there was that's live theater.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Did they drink? Yeah, I don't care, but that's live theater.
So it's great. They were very, very respectful.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
It's a very well oiled machine two for them with
the choreography and getting in and off and getting props on.
And when they said that show starts promptly at eight,
it ain't eight oh one, Robert.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
And you know why.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
You know why Robert runs so finely tuned because he's
got a bullet in his head.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
But that's why he runs so finely too. By the way, Toby,
what can I put out one thing that was funny.
So the person who shot him in the head was
sentenced at twenty five years right, and then died in
jail of cancer. And Robert in the article said, karmas
a bitch.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Yes, oh but Toby, Toby, by the way, used to
work for it, like she's the matriarch of the thing,
worked for eleanor Roosevelt. She was.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
She's all about the arts. She is all about the arts.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
She she would a professor at Columbia, not in Colombia,
at Columbia, New York. She was a professor at Catholic
and cares so much about the arts and having a
place for the arts to be studied that she when
they opened up here, you know, one of her first
students was ed Norton American History Acts.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Oh yeah, Edward Norton. Want to without Toby, you don't
get ed Norton.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
And then what they have in terms of that news
space coming.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Oh wow, Oh yeah, no, there's gonna be and you
know what, and good on, good on Toby.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
They wanted Toby's to shut.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Down for three years because there's a lot of building
that's going on over there, and they were like, no way,
you can't. You can't stop the arts for three years.
And that's true.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Oh. One other thing that I think nobody would realize.
I didn't. I didn't until they said it.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Well, you have given us your food hacket.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Oh, I'll get there. The no, no, no, the band.
Oh yeah, all the music is live. I was not
expecting that. I was expecting that it was going to
be like the like a like a track that.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
No, they got a full on band in there.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
By the way, in the program it does say many
things to Mary Bova for assisting in costume coordination. All right, Well,
he had wondered if it was all Mark.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Oh no, Diane was wondering that.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yeah, yeah, but we met Mark and if you want
to go again on Friday.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
By the way, so many great songs and this was
true when it was on. Obviously there's the music animated film,
but there were so many that I had never heard before,
because unlike Saturday Night Fever, where I'm already listening to
the soundtrack for the cast recording a huge musical highlight

(14:48):
for a song that I had never heard that is
in Disney's The Little Mermaid the Musical If only the
quartet one with Ariel Eric.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
I've never seen that amazing. That was good, amazing, that
was really good.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
I didn't know most of the songs.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Well you recognize the ones that were in underda Sea.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Yeah, I may fill in for Sebastian, and I will say.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
The whole time I was driving home scratching my head
thinking did I always know that Triton and Ursula were related?
And I looked it up?

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Whoa, whoa?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Is that a spoiler?

Speaker 3 (15:24):
No, it's right in the beginning. That was part of
the original storyline for the Disney animated version, and they
cut it, did they really? So you don't know that
as some who saw the film in eighty nine.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, I mean I just assumed they followed it.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Their other By the way, I want to shout out
everybody because it was so well done. Jeanine Sunday and
Sarah King are also listed as costume coordinators.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Okay, but why are you so hooked on that?

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Because I only said the one person's name, Oh Mark, Yeah,
where am I married? And Mary Mark? And Mary yep?

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Hi Elliott the morning?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Hey, yeah, Hi? Who's this? Oh? Hey man?

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Rather not say.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Okay, all right, very good, thank you sir, thank you,
but you know what, you know what I will say,
you know what I will say, and I think I
don't remember if it was Robert Mark or Cheryl.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
One of them told me that I think it was Cheryl.
It was Cheryl.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
The between Richmond and Baltimore, this used to be I
think she said there used to be sixty dinner theaters
in the area that this was.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
This area was.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
The biggest in the country for dinner theater and there
used to be sixty.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
We're now down to three. Now down to three. And
it was awesome. I had so much fun. Oh food hack. Yes, yeah.
So so you go up. There's the salad bars first, right.
You have a choice.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
You can either get Caesar salad or you could build
your own salad.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
I built my own.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
I can't I can't tell you if the fruit was
fresh or not. Didn't waste my time on it. But
you could do that. You build your your your own salad.
I do need to apologize to everybody that was at
the show on Friday. But if you're wondering how a
crew ton got into one of the dressing bowls, that

(17:26):
was me.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
It's fine. I just didn't think it was right to
fish it out. And I also didn't know where to
put it, so my apologies. And then after you have
your after.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
You have your your your your salad, and they call
you up by table. When they called out sixty seven,
sixty eight and sixty nine, when I fist bumped, it's like.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yes, anyway, then you go and you have.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Your main meal. Right.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
I had the flounder and the rosa.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
It was flounders tilapia right, yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Oh yes, but I had to. And then I had
the roast beef. I had a lot of corn. I
had aerials broccoli. I had some cheese.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
I had horseradish sauce.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
You get the bear crap in the woods. Here comes
your here comes your hack. For dessert, you have a
choice between cheesecake and whatever the other cake was. I
didn't get the other cakecol Yeah, I didn't get that.
I'm not a big sweets guy. I got the chocolate cake.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
I got the cheesecake. I got the cheesecake.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
And I don't want to say who, but somebody on
that cast whispered to me because there's that's inside, like
they they bring that out to you out in the
lobby though for kids now, I started the line, but yes,
you could go, there's an ice cream bar in the lobby.

(18:59):
But I do think it is probably mostly set up
for kids, which, by the way, there there are kids
that go, and I know that they have like daytime performances.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
What a great way to expose your kids to theater. No,
it really is. It really is to close.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
Yes, and you can, by the way, like the other thing,
like you take it for granted. But if you're a
kid and you're watching that, you could talk to the
actors like that's amazing, Like you could talk.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
To Prince Eric Well. I talked to t.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Well.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Yes, not show. They don't break the.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Stage and go like are you under the sea? No,
obviously you're not going to do that. Be a good parent,
tell your kid quiet the don't interrupt my hack either.
So one of the cast members says, Elliott, when you
get your cheesecake, and I don't want to say which
cast member because I don't know if you're supposed to do.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
It a spot.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
But anyway, when they brought me my cheesecake, Elliott, take
it out to the ice cream bar and get all
the ice green toppings and put it on top of
your cheesecake. I was like, you don't have to tell
me twice that cheesecake hit the ground faster than a
faster faster than anybody moved it that entire night, and

(20:12):
that includes the two guys on rollerblades. I hauled ass
out to the ice cream. I made a turtle Sunday cheesecake.
I put Jimmy's on top of my whip cream and
then put a little strawberry something or other on the side. Fantastic.
I almost got two desserts for the price of one.

(20:33):
That's a home run.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
That's a hack.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
It is I would never have thought to do that.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
No, but again, one of the casts was like, Elliott,
do this so again. Thank you to Toby's, thank you
to Cheryl, thank you to Mark or thank you to
Robert who better be listening. I swear to God and
thank you to our winners. Our winners were great. Our
winners were awesome. Everybody. There wasn't a room one in

(21:00):
the bunch. No, no, and no, I'm being honest because
