Speaker 1 (00:00):
Great pissing match going on online between a.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well can I back up a step? Can I back
up a step?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Are like, if you go to YouTube, are lock picking
videos like a big thing? Like? It's not something I like.
I search out and I don't get stuck in those
rabbit holes. But is that a big Is that a
big thing online to be able to pick locks?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well, you know you can find anything.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Oh yeah, no, can I find a lock picking video?
I guarantee you I can. But are there is that?
Is that like a thing on? When I say a thing?
Are there a bunch of guys who are like, I
could pick any lock? And they have like thousands and
thousands and thousands and thousands of followers?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
You're short of the followers and views these people are
getting millions? Are you sharing millions? So quote the Rock
It is crazy, fifty eight million views, fifty.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Eight million and somebody pick a lock? The okay? Is
that a skill? Can you do it? No? I just
don't think it seems fascinating until you're locked out of someplace,
right and then I call the locksmith?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Locksmith?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
You don't wish There's never been a time where you like,
I wish I could pick a lock.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
I mean you do feel like somewhat of a fugitive
when you've got that little key that sits above like
where there's like the little hole in your in your
doorknob and at the house where you put it in
there and you press it.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Diane, that's not picking a lock. That is using essentially
the key to open the lock. So when you get
home from work and you take your keys and you
open your door, do you feel like I'm picking the lock?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:45):
No, but there what are they using like some little
like funky.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Tool or so here's well, so here's the pissing match, right, Christian,
will you do me a favor, by the way, and
you're only thinking of your your house.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Locksmith the Jesus by the way, I hook you're locksmith's
not in Minnesota. Did you see they're all up in arms,
because I think it's on the first of July. The
new laws says you have to get the lead out
of keys, which is going to make it much more
expensive to cut keys because steel is harder to shape,
and so they're worried they're going to go out of business.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Wait say that again.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
There's a small amount of lead in.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Keys in every key.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
So there's not I'm not going to say everything, but
average house.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
The key to open the office door. Yes, that's got
lead in.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yes, get the lead out.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
What a great you know what, Let me give that
to Dustin or Bennett.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
We're building a better big No.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
They've tried that a thousand times and all it is
is a toilet. That sounds like a tangent to me.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Anyway, I'm actually didn't Bennett take a huge swing at it?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
The Yeah? No, that was good. That was good.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
What was that true oldies? No jam in oldies? Oh god, yeah,
that was good.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Anyway.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
So in the state of Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
That was Booze Kelly remember real name Bruce Kelly. But
had a problem Jesus well he did, just had a
bad drinking.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Problem and that was a walk walk back.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
No, but he ended I think he ended up in Phoenix.
I think he also had a booze problem there. Anyway,
go ahead. What was I saying, get the lead out?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah? So no, basically the law states that they cannot
use your traditional keys anymore.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
That they all have to be steeled.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Doesn't have to be steeled, but steel, no materials. It
is going to make it much more difficult, if possible
at all, to cut down at the same price for customers.
So they're worried customers are going to figure out alternate
ways to avoid longing to pay that, and they're going
to go out of business as locksmith's because they can't

(03:50):
duplicate keys anymore because of this impending law.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
But also, and don't don't give me the don't give
me the oh, well, you know what, just move to
a smart lock, because like in your head, if you're thinking, like, oh,
your door at home, maybe the office door here isn't
going to be a smart lock. Also, what about like
like like small locks that you would use for storage spaces,

(04:17):
that you would use for sheds, that you would use
for containers, like not all of those. And I guess yes,
in some cases you would use a combination lock, but
some people want a key lock.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Owner of Minnesota Locks Donna Campbell said, people are already
not happy with how much their keys cost for the
small amount of lead that's in there. It doesn't seem
to make any sense to me.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Why do they, like, why do they want to get
rid of lead keys?

Speaker 3 (04:44):
What's lead? So so let's lick some walls the no, okay,
so people, they're right, no, but people are eating their keys.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
I get lead paint because kids chip it off the
wall and they eat it. Who's eating a I've used
lead keys my whole life. Look at me.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
I don't even have I'm less than one percent clogged
in my arteries.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Anyway.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
So this this company called Proven, they make locks. And
so this one guy, he his thing on YouTube is
that he shows how easy they are, and because all
these lock companies are like, our locks are so goddamn tough,
and he's like, no, they're not.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I can get in two seconds.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
So he uses essentially like an apple juice thing container,
no container, and he just cuts a little piece off
of it, like.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
A juice box.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah, essentially, I mean it's a little thicker, a little
harder than that. The or he'll take like an aluminum can,
Like that's another one. He'll take an aluminum can and
cut it and then slide it in there and pop
it out, and he's like, I'm in in you know,
thirty seconds. And he's fighting with well the company, and
he came back and said, what you did is unfair

(06:04):
and it's damaging our brand because you would have had
to go in ahead of time, and you would have
had to look at the type of lock to know
how to cut the aluminum purposefully to be able to
get it in and know where the catches are.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Oh so they're saying his videos are fake.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Right in this video, you see where it's like, oh,
look I'm opening I'm opening the box and this may
be a new box. And he's taken the lock out
and he's showing just how easy you could bust through
this lock.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
So that's why he's unboxing it. He's proving that he
has not seen this lock.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Right out of the box, right, And they're saying, there's
no way that yes, in this video, but you have
already used one of our locks to disassemble to know
exactly what you were getting into.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
So what exactly is going to happen here? I see
that he has a can of her.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Right, so he showed you using the real keys and
let in it. He's probably close to dying that. Now
he's going to cut the can. Dude, be careful with
those sets. Now I've seen the end.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
He doesn't bleed, You're okay, So now he's going to
cut down to the end.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Honestly, the longest part is him making the the pick.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
The video is only got forty seconds left.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Right, So he's going to cut this, cut that piece away.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
That's fine, cut this piece and now here is where
proven says that he's got previous knowledge. He's rounding out
the edges and he's going to round it out, round
it out. He's gonna cut a little catch in the aluminum.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
He's not measuring this. This is still pretty rough.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
But he's already Now he's going to shove it in
the side. Where'd you think it goes?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
You're picking the actual lock like keyhole.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
He's yanking on it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Thank you, He'll get it, and then he pops it
right there.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Came out. Yeah, the whole thing came out.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yeah, the locks out and there you go.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
But this company is saying his videos are.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Fake because yeah, that he did this, but this is
the second or third lock. He's already done it and
knows where to cut the aluminum in order to be
able to pop the lock. So are they also they
made him take it down. They made him take it down. Well,
they're gonna wat no, say again.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
How did I just watch that? If it was taken down?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Oh, because people have captured it. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
He also posted two or three other videos of him
poping other locks of theirs.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
All the same brand. He only goes after them.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
No, he goes after anybody. But Proven is the one
that he's fighting with.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Now. What is his name, Uh, Trevor McNally. Trevor McNally,
and he pops locks. I'd love to be able to
pick locks.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
So is he one of the known online content creators
for this?

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Based on what I was reading, Yes, but again, I've
never spent any time I'm on YouTube watching people pick locks?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Which line line one, Hi Elliott the morning?

Speaker 5 (09:08):
Hey Elliott?

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Is this me?

Speaker 6 (09:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Hi? Who's this?

Speaker 7 (09:11):
My name's Matthew.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
How you doing man?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Hey, I'm doing great? Thank you? What can I do
for you?

Speaker 7 (09:16):
I love this McNally dude. I found them on Instagram
social media for you.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
It's probably a year ago. And this Proven locks battle
is hilarious.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
It sounds like it's like, I mean, listen, nobody loves
petty more than I do.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
The Oh that's what it is? What is the and there?

Speaker 1 (09:42):
But do I have it right where they're like you've
already you've already disassembled and you don't know what you're like,
you're you're you're damaging our reputation by being dishonest. And
then that's when he goes back and goes, okay, here,
watch I'll pick several other locks, right.

Speaker 7 (09:58):
Right, so other uh, yeah, you're you're percent right, And
then I think the best part is here in like
the last I don't be honestly, I don't know when
the whole lawsuit with proven exactly started, but now his
content is he is buying their locks and having them
under like different names, I guess, because otherwise why would

(10:21):
prove and send them the locks because they know what
they're gonna he's gonna do with them, right, but so
having them delivered. If you watch the video, it's like
random Amazon drop boxes and he just opens it in
the parking lot and he takes a soda can some
of the beer cans, like I pas that that he drinks,
and his commentary is funny because he's like, now, guys,

(10:42):
to do this, your your measurements have to be exact.
You have to take a smidge here and take a
little bit more there, and so like it's just I mean,
he does it, You're right, he does it to all
lock brands, but like Petty, it's it's comical and I'm
not a locksmith. I'm not lock pick I think it's
kind of interesting what people can do with the right tools,

(11:05):
and like, this guy has the right tools and he's
just using cans to open these things. And this company's
got so mad that on their social media accounts they've
turned off all comedy.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
Go to proven it.

Speaker 7 (11:17):
Yeah, it's like because his followers just like we started,
i mean, just started handing it to.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
When you watch something like this, though, doesn't it make
you wish you had the ability to pick a lock?

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (11:34):
Yeah, I mean, heck when you watch double oh sevens
yeah internationals.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
Hi right, I'll give you, I'll give you all.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Right, do Yeah, I appreciate it. Thank you, my friend.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yes, Tyler, So I'm looking back. Before they turned comments
off this, They've are touting a new product and Ashley
Thompson writes twenty seconds to pick your locks. Jamie Fuchs writes,
anything's better than a proven lock, but the complaint is ridiculous.
Like you said, I'm reading it right here from the pdf.

(12:07):
The McNally video, with its editing, timing and context, gives
consumers the false or at least misleading, impression that shimming
proven's locks is mere child's play. In the video, McNally
appears swinging his legs and sipping from an apple juice box,
conveying to the purchasing public that bypassing plaintiff's lock is simple, trivial,

(12:29):
and even comical. But then even they they're posting that's
from an official complaint, then they have this one social
media response that says, sorry, McNally has been fooling people
for years. He makes and edits his videos to make
himself look good. The lock was altered, and we currently
have a lawsuit against him for the lies he has made.

(12:50):
He will be exposed in court with a jury to decide.
That's how confident we feel.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
You're gonna lose.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Certainly not looking great from what we've earned this morning,
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
And by the way, I love this. This is it
could not be more petty.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
And but it did he start. It seems like from
what the caller said, he didn't just go after them.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
It's just now I just think it's gonna prove and reacted.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah, and now it's ramped up and like you said,
like listen, I don't know, Trevor McNally, But didn't you say,
like the videos have fifty sixty million views?

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Well that was just some of the lock picking VIC
videos on a.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
General Hi, Elliet the morning.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Hey, what's up man? How you doing?

Speaker 2 (13:36):
What's coming on? Dude?

Speaker 6 (13:37):
I'm all right. So there's two big contact creator content
creators that do lock picking. One's a lock picking lawyer
and one's McNally. McNally is like all about speed and
kind of shows how much of these jokes these lock
companies are. They say they're unpickable and he'll get into
them in like five seconds. Lock picking lawyer has people

(13:59):
send him locks that are supposedly unpickable and he'll get
into them. But from watching those videos, I bought the
training kit and taught myself how to pick locks. It's
really not that hard.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
So wait, hold on one second. So the two big
guys are McNally and I'm sorry, are you calling him
the lock picking lawyer?

Speaker 6 (14:17):
Yeah, he's based in DC too, is it really you
might be able to get a hold of them, but yeah,
he's real big and like he kind of shows you,
like how these locks that are supposedly unpickable really aren't
just with standard tools. And they they both sell like
training kits, and I bought the training kits from the

(14:38):
lock picking Lawyer, and in like three days, I taught
myself how to pick any master lock you can pick
on like three seconds.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
When you say Matt like the brand Master.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Wow? Is it easy? Is it so easy?

Speaker 6 (14:53):
Once you learn how to feel what you're feeling for
and you use the tools, you can get into them
literally three even the ones that stay security level five,
like the one you can literally pick him with what's
like looks like a snowman. You just rake it back
and forth and the listen right up.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I don't know if I like knowing that or if
I hate knowing that.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Probably you should try.

Speaker 6 (15:24):
You should try track him down, the lock picking Lawyer.
He's his videos are really good.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
I have I'll have to uh, I'll have to check.
I appreciate it. Thank you. Hey, what's his real name?
Do you know?

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I don't know his real name, but I'm sure it's
on his website because he sells a lot of lock
picking stuff through the website.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Gotcha? All right? Very good? Thank you?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Is it p I c kN Z lock picking Lawyers?
I would have I don't know picking. I don't see
a real name picking. I just see.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Uh he's an American YouTuber. Yeah, thanks wiki over one
billion views.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Oh my god, where does it say how old he is? No?

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Is there anybody listening that knows the lock picking lawyer?

Speaker 6 (16:17):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
He remains not Lincoln lawyer.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
He said that he was for fifteen years a business
litigator based in DC.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
See the lawyer.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah, I see some of these beginner sets. That's us
Merry Christmas.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
But you know, you know where that's scary. Somebody find
me the lock picking lawyer. Dear god. No, but you
know what, you know what seeing I'll give away the
well he probably wants to sell the kids.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Never mind the no no no.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
But like here's where I feel bad. Like there are
people who have like storage units that have like.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
All their stuff in it. Yeah, you don't want to.
I don't want somebody show off here and start picking
their locks.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
But I'm sure someone like the lock picking lawyer will
tell you he's not trying to teach criminals how to
pick locks. He's just exposing companies. And but he's selling
lock picking kits, not to criminals. Oh, that's to honest,
peaceful that's true. They're great Christmas gifts.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Line six, Hi, Yellie in the morning.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Guns don't tell you, Kristen does.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
I'm sorry?

Speaker 7 (17:32):
Who is this?

Speaker 5 (17:35):
It is Party Lux.

Speaker 8 (17:35):
What's up man, Party Lukes?

Speaker 2 (17:37):
What's going on? Dude? Everybody?

Speaker 8 (17:40):
What's gone? Guys? Line the Crazy. I literally was calling
to tell you you've got to look into the lock
picking Lawyer. He is so awesome. And he did this
one where it was literally I'm not going to tell
you which apartment complex, but when I live in it
was our lock that they just like recently installed. I'm
just watching it one day and now after an eight
minute video, I could literally get into any one of

(18:02):
my of my neighbor's homes with just like a paper clip.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Wait, so wait a minute, wait a minute. So it's
not just so the the lock picking lawyer.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
He's not just doing like like like locks that you
would use on like a storage shed or something like that.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
He's doing like people's like.

Speaker 8 (18:17):
Apartments, bike locks, any kind of locks, the locks that
they thought. I won't say which one it is, but
like you know the kinds like basically we have like
a keyfob, you put it in front of the lock
and then it activates.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
The dead bolt.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
Otherwise the dead bolt would just like free spin. But
once it's activated, then you can like dead bolt your door.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
Right.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
Yeah, well there's a.

Speaker 8 (18:35):
Hole in the bottom of it. You just take a
little pin up there and you're in, right.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
And the uh And you don't know who the lock picking.

Speaker 8 (18:47):
Lawyer is, man, I wish I knew. I didn't even
know he was from DC. And you've gotta find everybody
who was listening. You gotta find this guy.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
He's the best.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Wait, so wait, do you think they just randomly picked
your apartment building?

Speaker 8 (18:59):
No, he just he picked the lock that my apartment
building just randomly installed like a month before.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Gotcha, I got you so literally your apartment building. But
it was the locks that the apartment building put in.

Speaker 8 (19:13):
Correct, gotcha?

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Gotcha? All right? Very good? Hey let me god, I'd
like to work on getting you to do mid days.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
All right, very good, party, Luke, good to talk to you,
my friend.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
All right, talk to you a letter, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
I don't see contact.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Is this the picking lawyer? Lock picking lawyer?

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah? I mean we'd also talked to McNally.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
I talked to any of them. Yeah, but wait, who
is that guy? Is that him? That guy?

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Is that the same person in all those photos? There's
definitely there's beenated of figuring out who he is. I
was gonna say, like it, I don't know about podcasts.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Is the no? No? But I was gonna say, is
he We don't know if that's him.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
I'd have to scroll through and see if he's featured
his face in any of these videos on his page.
All of the.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Stills are just of the locks, the lock that he picked. Yeah,
that's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
My god, he goes through a lot.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
That's your job.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Well, I'm sure he's making nic stream at revenue on YouTube.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Also, did you know that there were that many locks kits?
Let me go to line eight. Hi Elliott the morning.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Hey Elliott, it's the truck driver. Has it gone?

Speaker 6 (20:37):
Hey? Good?

Speaker 2 (20:37):
What's going on?

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Bro?

Speaker 6 (20:39):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (20:40):
So that's Trevor dude. He's got a website Covert Instruments,
And I sent Tyler a picture on Instagram that they
sell lock picking sets, and they sell a lock picking
set for beginners where you can see the lock and
you can see how the pins react.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Right, I understand. I understand what you're saying. The I
understand what you mean by the pins. That makes sense, right,
But you.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
Can see it's like a clear lock, so you can
see what you're what you're feeling.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Thing I see are the hey do you do you
know this? Maybe you do, maybe you don't. Is the
kit that McNally is selling, very very very similar to
the kit that the lock picking lawyer is selling.

Speaker 6 (21:33):
Ah, that I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
I mean, how different a thanks? No, I got you,
I got you, thank you, sir? How different can it be?
In my fantasy they're the same guy.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Oh really, he's just double dipic and that way you
have your own competition built in. Do these two guys
hate each other?

Speaker 3 (21:54):
I had never heard of him in town this morning.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
I haven't either, But don' wouldn't you imagine if you're
the lock picking lawyer, you're like, oh my god's quit
saying the other guy's name.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Hate that guy?

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Maybe they don't love how either one goes about it.
I see the style ruffling, maybe feathers. But it looks
like they're both getting views.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Well, what is that saying both ships all ships rise?

Speaker 2 (22:18):
No, we don't know it. No, it was something like that,
I got ships rising? Yeah, exactly, all ships rise?

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Always say that absolutely No, I'm in a heavy duty meeting.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
All right. How do we track him down, the lock
picking lawyer?

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Yeah, I can message him on YouTube.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
No, you know what, you know how it should happen.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
I should walk in tomorrow and he's already sitting in
the office because he got.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
In through the doors. Maybe that was him down in
the parking garage today
