Dumb Debate: Icing VS Frosting (2)

Sally Morning Show doing this dumb debate. We realize it's
it's dumb. Oh yeah, of course, but Eileen gave me
this one, and I thought that is interesting. When you
make a cake and you put that stuff on top,
is that icing or is that frosting? Now most people
are saying frosting. But then let's see, well, Tanya says icing,

Maryland says frosting, Jet says icing, and then Penny says,
US English call it icing. I only heard it referred
to as frosting when I arrived in the USA. However,
there is a difference in texture between the two. Frosting
is lighter and frothier. I but agree with that. Mm okay,
and Mary says frosting icing and frosting has different consistency. Okay,

all right, and Ben says, uh, I'm in Pennsylvania. It's both.
I want lots of frosting. What kind of icing?

She thinks that, uh, frosting is more for either cookies
or perhaps used interchangeably in other geographic areas of the country.
Oh but down here, icing is what goes on a cake, all.

Right, So that has to be the official word because
she works at publics and makes cakes. So we're going
to go by what Ron's daughter says.

What's your what's Ron's daughter's name?

Yeah, what's her name?

Yeah he's wrong, don't call him wrong. His daughter works
at publics.

Yeah, she was saying. From what he was saying, she
was saying that it might be a regionalism, so like, yeah,
that's true. He was saying, down here, we might say that.

Yeah, well we live down here, so it's icing. So
that's the officials. It's icing, and there's all well there's
also icing. You put icing on on like a bunt cake.

Tell what?

Don't get us kicked out of Florida?

to a website he reviewed, the generic term is icing
and frosting is a type of icing.

Okay, this is getting more complicated really than I wanted
it to.

I like the science stuff behind it.
