(00:00):
Hello to your beautiful arm Artichoke. It's Crystal roll Sas back with another episode
of Crystal's Nightcap. Let's go onthe field trip to the Bronx Zoo.
I'm hosting NYC's Pride March with FrankieGrande. I get flown back home to
California. We hit the County Fairwith my boyfriend Zaddie and both of our
families, and we have a tragicbattle with a tarantula. Get Usa.
(00:22):
My name is Crystal role Sas.I'm a twenty something Latina who just moved
from California to the Big app Happy. Sorry that was my cat frappuccino.
They're still getting used to the citylife. Anyways. Where was I am?
Oh yeah, I take over afternoonradio every day on the world famous
Z one hundred but one night Falls. I'm looking for all the cloud I
(00:43):
can get and casually searching these streetsfor my Prince Charming. Come on this
sexy single journey where we'll go ona date with a new guy from the
Apps every week, host red carpetsand interviews, and weasel our way into
the secret society of New York's topsocial LIFs. Oh yeah, and someone's
always watching. That's my overprotective mom. This is crystals nightcap. Oh look
(01:07):
at how cute look at Oh no, now they're fighting. No, not
the monkeys. Oh my, ohmy aye ye yi sesh chew out.
Oh my, yes, these monkeysare going crazy at the Bronx zoo.
Wait, I see you understand this? Were do you hear the clankage?
(01:38):
They were clanking up? Turtles areI don't know, they've eaten a lot
of oysters. I don't know aboutaphrodisiacs with the turtles to be eaten.
But there were like four different pairsof turtles that were just doing the nasty,
doing the delis also in front ofeverybody, kind of crazy. Real
quick. Back to the gorillas. So there's how many gorillas. There's probably
(02:01):
like six or seven of them.Right. You're kind of waiting around to
see if it's going to get crazyor what are they going to do if
they're going to fight. One ofthe gorillas comes all the way to the
edge of the window and then boom, just jets and starts tapping down the
window all the way down and gotright in front of me. Yes,
(02:23):
girl, we are living our bestkindergarten field trip life by heading to the
Bronx Zoo. That was so muchfun. I mean, it's crazy that
I've been able to have so manySaturdays off in a row. And you
know that the vein of my existencehere in New York City is I have
to work a few Saturdays a month. But because I've worked already a few
(02:44):
in the beginning of the month,I actually got like five saturdays off in
a row, which is cray Cray, And I honestly, like I said,
I've been living my best life.So my prima Gavi, she has
still been in town, and we'relike, we have a weekend off.
What are we gonna do? Wealso are gonna work on Sunday for a
(03:05):
little bit, but it's gonna bea fun work event. But Saturday off,
where should we go? What shouldwe do? Let's hit the Bronx
Zoo. I heard it's amazing.I've never been. So we take the
two train all the way up.Then we walk a few blocks up around
like ten am Saturday morning, andwe are just living our best lives.
(03:25):
We be lied to the train atthe Bronx Zoo and it's so cute,
like you are seeing rhinos, youare seeing the elefantis, you are seeing
hella deer, hella antelope and deerand different type of four legged like what
(03:46):
are deer considered? I want toknow those kinds of things. And then
after the train we go just walkaround and explore. There's like a jungle
gym area where you can kind ofdo fun jungle gymming up and I'm doing
that and then I get yelled atbecause I'm not supposed to go backwards and
jump on things. So of courseI'm living my best kindergarten life and not
(04:11):
following the rules. And then afterthat we hit up the snow leopards.
Oh my god, I cannot believeI saw snow leopards. Now, I
think out of the entire exhibit thereat the zoo, I mean you could
be at the zoo probably for twodays. We didn't get to see every
single exhibit. Maybe you could seeeverything one day. But my favorite part
(04:32):
was the gorillas. They actually saved, no, they took, they kidnapped
these gorillas from Congo. And there'sa whole movie theater, a small movie
theater that explains to you how there'sa conservatory in Congo where a whole bunch
of scientists and explorers were just learningabout all the gorillas there and the money
(04:59):
that goes to the un Zoo helpssave the gorillas, So we learned about
that. We learned a little bitabout deforestation and how when you clean out
rainforests and plots of area for trees, you're actually killing a whole bunch of
ecosystems and you're making species of animalsgo extinct, which I didn't know that
either. You know me, Ilove reading all the little fine pray,
(05:20):
all the little things to read allover the zoos. So we saw that.
Yo. Back when you walk kindof more further back towards where people
actually park for the zoo, there'sa whole bunch of areas for turtles.
These turtles were going off. Igot so scared because these gorillas, I
(05:50):
mean, they're huge, and youfeel like they can really just planet of
the apes and break out of thepixiglass thing. That was crazy. I
also saw grizzly bears. There wastwo huge grizzly bears there and I caught
one just like eating chomp in theirlife away a little winning the pooh vibes.
But they're scary. They're big asheck. So yeah, I just
(06:13):
feel like the older that I'm getting, the more that I'm appreciating wildlife.
Growing up. I feel like, because yeah, we did do the zoos,
we did do the aquariums. Wehave the biggest and best aquarium pretty
much in the entire world, theMonterey Bay Aquarium where I grew up in
California. So I feel like Iwas just used to that, But I
don't know why. I've been gettinga lot more appreciative of my mother nature.
(06:39):
And man did we have a goodtime watching all the animals. And
it's funny because before we left,I told Goby, I said, we're
gonna get there when it opens. We're gonna be there all day till it
closes. If you want, youcan pack some snacks. So she was
like, no, no, I'mgonna be fine and be fine. And
as soon as I offered her thefirst piece of jerky with them thirty minutes
of the zoo, She's like,Okay, yeah, maybe I'll just take
(07:00):
it. Just a little piece, just a little piece. Her and I
are chomping on our almonds that Ibrought cashews, our little god and I
Sika so We're over here, youknow, living our best laves, chomping
on our snacks, looking around atall the different animals, and then you
know it's again closer to like onepm. Mama's hungry, so we go
to the cafeteria over there. I'mlooking around seeing what everyone's getting. The
(07:23):
fries do look bomb, but Ikind of want a meal meal, so
I order a chicken burrito bul andas soon as I'm in line for it,
Gave goes, did you see whatthe chicken looks like? And I'm
like, it looks like chicken. She says, no, that looks disgusting.
So I kind of roll my eyesand I get in my anyways for
the chicken buruta. Bul Sis.I took one bite of this chicken burrita
(07:49):
bul and I said, absolutely not. And I walk back and I ask
for the manager in a true Karenfashion, and she goes, oh,
what's wrong, and I say,I'm sorry, I just I cannot eat
this. I do not like thechicken. And she goes, oh,
it's not good. I'm like youshould try this, and she goes,
(08:09):
okay, you know what, whateveryou want here, let me give you
a refund. Here's your refund whateveryou get a hot dog at Pizza Get
and I go over there and Ilook, I'm just thinking, you know,
I just kind of want some fries, so I just get fries.
And she goes like, no,no, no, you don't want anything.
Get something else. And I say, no, it's okay. I'm
just gonna get fries. I'm justgonna get fries. And she goes,
okay, well, I'm sorry thatyou don't like the Bruta bowl. If
(08:30):
you want anything else, just askfor me and I'll give you whatever you
want. I say, thank youso much. She was so sweet,
she was so nice. That isa one customer service. I do not
care a girl. I gobble, swallowed, hollowed those fries. Those are
they taste like true back in theday Burger King fries before Burger King got
the big cut fries. They wereso good. I love French fries and
(08:52):
I like chicken wings. And Ididn't get the chicken wing. I didn't
see any chicken wings there, butFrench fries ten out of ten. When
I go back, I will beand the French fries again, and I
will be looking for her and Iwill be saying hi, because she made
a fan that manager. Yees, she sure did so. Yeah, the
Bronx Zoo was honestly iconic. Iwould totally recommend you come maybe the third
(09:13):
or fourth time you come to visitNew York City. I mean, obviously
it's a great and beautiful and amazingzoo. There's a lot of other things
to see in New York first, though, because you're going to be spending
more than half of the day atthe Bronx Zoo and you're pretty tired.
We didn't get to see the wholething. I didn't get to go into
the butterfly exhibit and other things becauseby four I think it closed at six,
(09:39):
but by four o'clock we were clockedout. We were tired, sis,
So we had it back home, and I believe we just had a
chill night. And I don't thinkwe have We honestly have not been going
out. Me and Gove me andI'm thirty, she's twenty nine, she's
going to be thirty this year's tI'm mean, so we haven't really been
in our go out moves. Wejust have been trying to take advantage and
(10:03):
make the most of the days. And we've been going to the gym kind
of to go spa and relax inthe eucalyptus rooms. And we've just been
relaxing and cuddling and watching YouTube. So then the next morning we wake up
early. Might I add I wakeup at probably eight am. This is
a Sunday because I need to getmy makeup and my hair ready and Gobby's
(10:26):
makeup and hair for again the NewYork City Pride March. Oh so exciting.
Last year for the Pride March,I was I was in the Hamptons,
but you know, last time Ihung out, I was in the
Hampton, so I got my littleHampton's fix already. I also was doing
the Pride March with Splat hair color, which we love. Thank you so
(10:48):
much. Splat, you are thebest. They have amazing hair chalks.
If you want not so permanent colorsin your hair, they also have semi
permanent wash out colors. They've beengreat to me and worked with me for
so many events already in our jingleballs, and this is the first time
we're working together for Pride, Sothey had me out there on our iHeartRadio
(11:09):
float to march down Sixth Avenue andcelebrates LGBT plus Pride Month. Wrapping up
Pride Month in the best way possible. So I'm doing my rainbow cut crease
on my eyelids. I'm getting mybeautiful splat hair chalk and just blatt my
(11:31):
hair everywhere with all the crazy colorsthat they have. We got pinks,
we got greens, we got blues. Love love love, And I'm looking
cute. And I also find ajumpsuit in the back of my closet for
putting my gavi so she can lookcrazy too. And then I do her
beautiful eyeshadow, which came out sogreat. Honestly kind of jells. Her
eyeshadow came out better than mine andI did it. But we honestly were
(11:56):
slaying the game. Her and Ijust two little peas in a pod running
our way. Now. We threwsome Seltzer's in our backpack just in case
we wanted to drink her a littlebit, but we were having so much
fun. We got to the flow. It's a good vibe. We got
DJ Dramos on the turntables. Ihave my homie David on there, and
(12:16):
as soon as we're about to takeoff, I look to my ride and
who's jumping on the Floe, FrankieGrande, yep Ariny Grande's beautiful gay brother,
the gaze of the gays, thegay of the gays. Frankie Grande
himself. Now, he is sosweet, he's nice. We give each
other a hug, I give himhis mic He is the queen of the
float pretty much. And then I'mon the edge on the corner, and
(12:39):
then Gobi's like behind me. Wehave waters everywhere and we are just dancing
and vibing. We have Britney playing, we have Ari playing, we have
Gogab playing, we have Cardi bI spice, we have all of New
York out for the Pride March, and it is just such a vibe.
Again, I'm just so Gave hasnever been able to do this. So
(13:01):
this is my first time having aguest on the float with me, some
one of my families. So Iam her and I are just living our
best life on this Pride Flow, shaking our booties off, screaming our lungs
out, saying hi to everyone. It's crazy and everyone is flipping out over
(13:22):
Frankie Grande because again, pretty muchthe gaze of the gays, he is
the a one gay. I meanit's Frankie Grande and Rue Paul. I
think that that pretty much sums itup when it comes to the LGBT plus
community. And it was just sogreat hanging out with him and seeing how
excited everyone was when they were like, wait, that's Frankie, is it
(13:46):
Frankie Grande? I mean, everycorner it was crazy. And the whole
time I'm just screaming New York City, Frankie Gronde, and Frankie's on the
mic just saying, yes, loveyou, you are looking great, New
York City, happy Pride, Frankiedoing the dang thing, and Frankie is
booked and busy. I mean evenbefore that, Frankie had an interview and
(14:07):
then a perforemant and then hopped onthe flow and he said he did four
Pride marches this year, which iscrazy, but again it's Frankie Grande.
So after that, me and Goviwere tired as hell, but also hungry,
so we found a little place togo eat in the corner there and
(14:30):
was had a little meal. Weget back to the apartment and we have
another spa day. That's just howwe wrapped up the weekend. So then
the week is coming along, andI'm getting sad because Goby has to leave.
I mean, okay, she didstay longer than she anticipated. She
didn't stay as long as I wouldhave wanted her to stay. But to
(14:52):
see that she's always saying, Idon't want to impose and I don't want
to overstay my welcome. I'm like, sis over, you are per here.
I prefer you to be here.It is so fun having you here
every day. I have someone tolook forward to. It's really funny because
it's kind of annoying because she worksremote, but she works California time still,
so she starts a little late soshe can get up and do her
(15:13):
walks and be out in the townfor just a little bit. She'll start
work at eleven and she won't getoff until seven, which is kind of
annoying. But we still have timeto go out and do something or run
around. And by the time thatI'm off work, I'm kind of tired
too. But she needs to beout of the house because she's been in
the house working all day and she'sbusy. She is just on her computer
(15:35):
all day solving problems, so she'skind of like a little puppy. I
need to get her out. Ineed to get her on a walk because
she's just so excited for a humaninteraction. When I get home and she
has so many things. She alwaysdo what she would always tell me,
why to go. So much happenswhen you're gone. I did this,
and I she is just the best. She is the a one house wife
(15:58):
that I want to marry my ownprima. I get home and she washed
the blankets, and she was ableto clean the bathroom today, and today
she did all the garbages. Orshe you know, took a break walk
to get coffee and then have thisfunny interaction with someone outside, or she
brought in the package. She's justalways doing something around the house while in
(16:19):
her breaks from work. And she'sjust so excited to see me. And
I feel so excited to see herbecause work is hard sometimes, Like I
love what I do. I amwith people, I am in a studio
with someone else. It is funwork. And I always say this,
I love my job. I mean, the more I even do my job,
(16:40):
I am just so excited. WhenI'm on a few day breaks from
my job, I cannot wait toget back on the mic and hang out
with my audience. And listeners, and I get really excited to share content
that I know you're gonna love. And it is tough sometimes too. I
have a tough situation that has beengoing on since I moved here at work
(17:00):
that's been really hard for me,and I've had to work through that.
And even though I have been alittle vague on what exactly that is,
it's it's still tough. It's stilltough. But then when I get home
and I see Gavi and I getto recap with her how my day went,
or what was triggering me at workand the stresses that I have at
(17:22):
work, it's just fun to catchup with her too. So we catch
up, or we go in alittle walk, or we go figure out
what we're going to eat. Andthat's how it was every single day with
her. For I think she wason my place for like twenty one days,
right, twenty five days, almosta month. I don't think anyone's
ever stayed that long since I movedhere, and her and I live so
(17:45):
well together. It is so easyto live with her. She's super clean,
she helps extra, she always takesthe initiative for things. I have
never really lived with anyone, andI think that if I were to ever
really live with someone, I couldlive with her. It would be great.
I could I could even live inmy partment with her, even though
I have a poulou bed in theliving room. She and I were sleeping
(18:07):
together every single night, and itwas really fun. And then we're deciding
what we're gonna watch and what podcastswe want to catch up on with together,
we watch the same things, andit was just it's really fun.
Even when that he comes to visit, we don't. I don't watch like
my girly podcasts with him. Itgives him the ick to have like Canceled
with Tanna On or Trisha Hats, which is all I pretty much watch.
(18:30):
He kind of he doesn't like towatch that girly stuff, just like I
don't like to watch sports when hewants to watch sports. So we have
to compromise, which is funny, but it also gets me out of my
routine. Someone got The's over. It's really fun because we'll watch all the
gurly stuff or extra stuff, orwe've been watching what is it? What's
the new one? With Michael's strandthat like taking over Manhattan, that new
(18:53):
real estate show he has. Yeah, we've been watching that too, so
it was just really fun and Iwas getting really not because she wanted to
go home. I mean, honestly, the first few days that she was
here in New York with me,she was telling me, girl, I
don't know how you do this.I miss my family. I don't know
how you do it. And Ikept forcing her kind of to stay and
(19:14):
giving me her more incentives to stay. The first week weekend she was here,
obviously went to Toronto, and thenthe next weekend she was here,
I was like, don't worry,We're going to the Hamptons. I will
take you to the Hampton's and I'llhave it all settled for us. I
want you to alast Gono said, just for one weekend. So she came
to the Hamptons with us, andthen that next weekend I told her,
no, no, no, youhave to stay again because it's the Pride
(19:37):
March. You have to atlast behere for the Pride March. It's the
coolest thing. And she was sohappy that she got to be part of
the Pride March. She said itwas the coolest thing. She had so
much fun, and she was justsaying, girl, Ada is non stop
with you like you are just NonStop. And I just told her, yeah,
that's that's just how it is outhere. There's San Bredo goo to
(19:57):
do. And so she she wasgetting kind of sad and missing her family,
and her nephew is barely one,so she was facetiming him as much
as she could. But when she'sback home, she sees him pretty much
every day, so it's really hardfor her to be away from her soby
all. And also she works allday, so it's not like she can
(20:18):
really even enjoy New York to thefull capacity of being on Vaca because she's
at work when the sun is out. So it's kind of tough for her
in that sense too. And shedecided because she could fly on the holiday
back home, she was just gonnafly on fourth of July. I was
like, don't leave me, Please, don't leave me. But as much
as I tried, she did haveto make her way back home on a
(20:42):
fourth of July. I just hada normal work day on fourth of July,
and afterwards I ran to Hudson Yardsbecause I was hosting an event again
with DJ Dramos at the Vessel, which is a beautiful monuments on the West
Side. This year, they broughtthe fireworks to the West Hudson and that's
(21:06):
where I was going to be hosting. So I pull up and I didn't
really know what to expect. Wehave DJ Dramos, there a huge screen
that says Z one hundred and meand him each had a mic, and
there was a lot of people andthey were just staring at us, and
I was thinking, what the heckare we going to do? I mean,
what am I supposed to be doinghere? So then Dramas tells me,
(21:27):
Crystal, why don't we do agame or something? Why don't we
try to get people on this littletiny stage and do a game. So
then I ask our coordinator, HudsonYards, who's just the sweetest. I
asked her, do we happen tohave a broom or something to play limbo
with? And she says, yeah, let me find something for you.
She finds the perfect limbo pole. And I get some of our I Heart
(21:48):
Party crew kids that are there workingto and I asked for a few volunteers.
I tell them we're going to giveaway iHeart prize pack and we get
some volunteers like where are you from? And I'm like, all right,
Adn'tthia, where are you from Venezuela, Where are you from the Bronx?
Where are you from Nepal? Likethese who were from all over the world.
(22:08):
And we did a limbo contest andeverybody was eating it up, eating
it up, and Dramas was justbeing amazing on the turntables. And that
lasted about like thirty minutes and everyone'shad their phones out, was so excited.
And then we had the final twoand it was just I was just
trying to make it the biggest thingever. And everyone had a blast with
(22:30):
that limbo contest, and then everyonekind of started dancing a little bit.
Dramos he knows exactly what to do. He is so good. So then
all these little kids were just starteddancing, and I started bringing all the
little kids on the stage, andpeople love watching kids dance. Kids are
going crazy, absolutely bonkers, andso everyone's eating that for a little while,
(22:53):
and that eats up about an hourand a half of the entire appearance.
My appearance was two and a halfhours. So the kids are dancing
and then we're watching a live streamfrom the performance. At the top of
the edge, there are at aHudson Yards because this is all the Macy's
Fourth of July Fireworks show that's beingaired on TV as well, so the
(23:15):
Edge is kind of working with that. So they play on the screen performances
here and there, but in between, I mean, everyone's getting down.
Drama's knows exactly what to do.The people are up and dancing and hands
in their hands in the air,you know, up down, up down,
up down, all the things likeit is lit. We got Hudson
Yards carracking all the way up untilthe fireworks, and as soon as the
(23:38):
fireworks, Stark Girl isiska daddle becauseI know me getting home is going to
be a mission, even though Ionly live eight blocks away. I live
eight blocks away. I know it'sgoing to be treacherous to get back home
with all the hint fuel that wasthere. But I'm make it back.
(24:00):
I'm tired as heck. It wasso hot out there it even started raining
at one point. It's been musty, crusty, dusty in New York City.
We've been having a crazy heat wave. Even though I wasn't with my
family for Fourth of July or myfriends, you know, I was really
thankful to be with dramos, andI was thankful that Hudson Yards was so
incredible to work with, and I'mhappy that I made maybe somewhat of an
(24:23):
impact for the night for people thatwere out there visiting New York and wanted
to be in New York for Fourthof July and wanted to see the fireworks.
So that to me, looking back, I'm like, you know,
we didn't what we had to do, and I had a good time making
sure that everyone else had a goodtime, and that was a fun fourth
(24:48):
of July. We're oh, lastfourth of July. I was actually reminiscing
about last Fourth of July where Idid take vacation time. I was with
my family in mahikool and we werestill at a quote all inclusive resort,
but they had quote holiday hours andthe resort wasn't feeding us, and so
we literally revolted and me and mywhole family because we were taking apalf of
(25:11):
the resort. There was probably likefifty of us. We literally started chanting
the no school me that da Noscall Meda because they were trying to not
feed us and we were starved. We just had hopped off a bus from
where were we Saka Tikas to port. Yeah, that was crazy starving and
they didn't want to feed us.Yeah, last fourth of July, that
(25:32):
resort tried to starve us and thefourth of July. But oh my god,
that was the fourth of July beforethat, which is really funny enough.
I was with GOVI Gove came tovisit for I think a week or
two weeks with my mom and wespent fourth of July on my roof at
my apartment with EW EW Tom Cruise, EW throw back to Tom Cruise.
(25:57):
We have leveled up so much fromthat broke man. I'm so proud of
us. But yeah, this fourthof July, it was cool. I'm
really proud that John Wilson and Ifigured at the f out and we did
what we do best, run ofa clause for that. So then the
next day, yeah, everyone wasoff as well. I was the only
(26:18):
one at work, but it wascool. I held it down and I
was like I was on my witworkbecause I had another weekend off. Believe
it or not, I'm telling you, I've I've had so many weekends off
and I'm going to have even thisweekend off. I mean, so this
past weekend on my way to workon Friday. I'm thinking, Okay,
what am I going to do?I've been hitting up my friends who wants
to go to the Hamptons. Noone can go to the Hampton's with me.
(26:40):
I'm not going by myself to stayat that house. So who can
I? What can I do?Whatever, We'll figure it out. Goby
told me, Carl, you justneed to relax. You've been on the
run. You really just need torelax, and just, I guess,
stay home this weekend. I'm thinkingthat's such a waste. Stay home this
weekend. That is such a waste. But also, my COVID deal is
(27:00):
up at my apartment, so I'mnow paying an additional thousand dollars a month.
Isn't that crazy? Thousand dollars amonth. My new job contract hasn't
kicked in yet, so I havenot gone a raise since I've moved here.
So imagine not getting a raise, but you're now owing another thousand dollars
a month just fish and giggles. So I'm kind of strapped right now in
(27:26):
certain ways. I have to bereally careful with my finances these next few
months because it's just not how itwas anymore, and I'm borderline stressing,
but I know I'm gonna be okay. I am giving it to God and
just letting go, letting God.I think I will be totally fine.
I'm going to put extra work onthe extra work with hopefully getting some more
(27:48):
endorsements this summer and for the restof the year because it's getting tough in
these streets. But I don't evenreally have the funds to go really anyway
or fly anywhere, do anything crazybecause my rent just kicked in this month
and it's getting crazy. So Iwas like, Oh, I would really
(28:10):
love to go back home. Ihaven't seen my family and like over a
month and a half. I missmy nephew, I miss my Sodie O
the Duck. I miss my boyfriend. I haven't seen him in like five
weeks. I miss everyone. Iwould do so much to go home,
but I just can't right now.So I would do so much to go
home this weekend, but I justI guess I can't. So I'm just
(28:33):
on my walk to work Friday morning, me and Zaddie are on the phone
and I'm just like, Oh,what are you doing this weekend? I
know you have the little squirre atyour son. Do you have anything planned?
He said, no, I haveanything planned. He said, what
about you? And I said,no, I don't have anything planned either.
I was gonna go to the Hampton's, nobody can come with me.
I don't want to go with myself, and I'm off, so I don't.
(28:53):
I don't know. I think I'mjust going to better all all weekend.
And he says, why don't youcome? And I say because I
just I can't right now. Andhe goes, okay, well let me
fly you out. I'm like, come on, babe, no, that's
doing the most. And I alreadychecked the flights. The flights are crazy
for this fourth of July weekend. He says, it's okay, just come,
I got you. What time doyou want to come? What time
(29:15):
can you make the flight? Isthere? You kidding me? Are you
kidding me? He said, yeah, just screenshot me the flight that you
want and I'll send you out.I'm like, oh, I love you.
I love you so much. Soas soon as clock hit six,
I skuld daddled to JFK and Ihad nothing. I had nothing on me,
literally, I only had I didn'thave well, I never have a
(29:37):
credit card on me, but Ionly had my ID. Thank goodness,
I brought my ID. For somereason, I only had my ID,
and I literally thought, if somehowI could go home this weekend. I
don't know how, but it wouldbe the best. And Zaddy did that.
I had my purse and I hadmy ID. So I asked Shelley,
my coworker who does a shift afterme. I was like, do
you have a sweatshirt or something.I'm in booty shorts. I'm in booty
(29:59):
short I'm in pajamas at work todayon a Friday, because I knew nobody
was coming in. She said, don't worry, I have an extra sweatshirt.
And I found a towel in herlocker here at work. So I
grabbed the towel, I grabbed thesweatshirt. I have my work sweatshirt.
And I ran to the airport.I was just so happy. I was
so hack beat. My family wasso geeked as well. I called my
nephew the little Doug Alex, andif you just saw his face, he
(30:21):
was at home with his mom.I was facetiming him. He was at
home with his mom, and hegoes, mom, I can't go tomorrow.
Ducky's in town and we're I don'tknow what we're gonna do, but
Doucky's going to be in town. And I said, sorry, love you,
but sorry sis, but I justlast minute, I'm coming in,
like I have to steal your son. And she says, no problem.
Oh my gosh, We're so lucky. We're so blessed for my nephew's mom.
She's so cool. She is alwaysso understanding when I'm in town,
(30:45):
even if they have plans, likeshe'll let him come and hang out with
us for the weekend because she knowshow tough it is for me to come
back and forth. And I'm youknow, can we just round applause for
amazing baby mothers that are just cooperativeand really flexible and always willing to work
through things. You know, I'veI've heard some stories and firsthand I know
(31:08):
people around just people that baby fathersor baby mothers make it really hard to
be flexible or just make it everysingle little thing very very difficult and want
to fight about everything because they justhaven't done enough healing, or they just
whatever the case may be. Youknow, hurt people, hurt people,
So I totally get it. Ijust We've always been so blessed with my
(31:32):
brother Junior's baby mother, and sheis such an incredible mother. And when
when everything first happened back in theday, I was hurt, so I've
was not the nicest to her, even though she always had a smile and
she was always nice. I justI wasn't towards her. And now that
(31:53):
time has passed and I've grown upand I've healed from what i was going
through, I had apologize to her, and she's just really cool, and
I just I'm always so thankful withthe relationship that she has in our family
and that how she is to mynephew, and how she is to my
brother, my parents, my family, and to me. So just brown
applause for co parenting parents that arealways keeping a classy and always trying to
(32:21):
make things work with the family, because if it was hard, if it
was like some of these other parentsout there that make everything difficult, oh
my gosh, it would be anightmare. And I first hand here how
it is with other people, andI'm just like, eek, eek,
thank goodness that that is not howthe Duck's mom is. So his face
just lit up when I told himI was coming home for the weekend,
(32:43):
and he and I asked because Zaddywas going to pick me up with his
son to the airport. And theneven the duck was like, do you
think that Zaddy can pick me upand I can pick you as up from
the airport? Can I stay atyour guys's house this weekend? And so
I as Daddie's ady, like, yeah, you can stay whenever. He
can always stay it with us.And so then there they come. I
(33:05):
get off the flight and Zaddi's therewith my nephew and his son, which
again they're the same age. Soit's so funny and just the whole the
whole squad is out here and wepull up to Zaddi's house and the boys
love just playing video games or playingFortnite. They're watching Try not to Laugh
YouTube videos. They're up until twoin the morning just giggling and having the
(33:28):
best times. Me and Zaddy arejust like, it's always so happy that
they get along. They get along. They're not BFFs, but they're like,
and I've said this before, they'relike cousins that are kind of forced
to hang out together. But theystill have a really good time, and
when one of them isn't there, they're always asking for the other one.
I think last time I was intown, Zaddi's son was not with him,
(33:51):
so Alex is just like, oh, he's not coming. Where is
He's like, oh, no,he's with his mommy this weekend and says,
you know, the ducky gets alittle bummed, or even vice versa.
I think there was one time whereZaddi's son was with us, but
the duck was with his mom sohe's just like, oh, like,
Alex isn't coming, Like, no, he's with his mom He's like,
oh. So the fact that theyget to have a fun little sleepover and
(34:14):
they get along so well, Imean, nothing makes me happier, especially
because on our side of the family, Alex didn't grow up with little cousins.
Alex is the only nephew. It'sjust it's me and my mom,
my dad, my brother Junior,My little brother seven is twenty two now
twenty three, and I don't haveany kids and seven doesn't have any kids.
(34:34):
That's it. Alex has been theonly little kid. So now that
he has another like buddy that heis always around us if he can be
and we're going out doing things.Oh my gosh, I just it makes
me so happy. So then thenext day we wake up and then we
go to Zaddi's grandma's house. Sheis amazing. She's pretty much like his
(34:55):
mom. She helped raise him,and she's so sweet and she's always so
thoughtful and giving. And she hasa pool in her backyard. So we
squat up over there. Me theduck, and the kiddo and Zaddi were
over there and we're just like swimming, living our best lives. I'm drinking
on some modelos. Zaddi's there jumpingoff the diving board. The boys are
(35:19):
snorkeling. It is so fun.It is so relaxing and so fun.
And then Zaddi's like, why don'tyou tell your parents and your family to
come over. So then my parentscome over, and my brother Junior comes
over, and we're all just inthe pool. My dad loves swimming.
My awa Ethos come over. I'mon Apa. We are all squatted up.
It's hella hot. There's a heatwave in the bay as well,
(35:42):
so we're having our best family time. And this is just a dream come
true. I did not think thatI was going to be able to see
my family until the beginning of August, like I really didn't, just because
of finances and just because of howbusy I've been. I thought it was
going to be a long time sinceI saw my family. But the fact
that we all got to hang outit was so fun. Now. Something
also fun that we did at Grandma'shouse is she needed to have her well,
(36:08):
her living room cleared out. Sheis an iconic living legend. She
is already eighty years old. Sheis so fit. She loves to swim,
she loves to hike, she lovesto walk. She is just so
in it. She does more exercisethan my own parents. And we'll get
to that in a second. Sheis awesome. And when you're eighty years
(36:30):
old, you accumulate a lot ofstuff in your house. I don't know,
raise your hand if you go toyour olwady those houses and they just
have stuff on, stuff and stuff. So it's to the point in that
room where we couldn't even really breathe, And it's she has a really pretty
house in a really pretty room, but we couldn't even congregrate in that living
(36:50):
room because she had to move alot of stuff into that room. So
now it's time to look through thatstuff and try to get rid of things.
And every time a zaddie or asister has tried, it's just really
hard sometimes for you to get ridof stuff. So I have no tolerance
for that. I will literally buolyou into getting rid of things. So
that's what we started doing. Westarted getting big plastic bags and going through
(37:13):
Okay, what about this? Andshe'd be like, oh, well that's
my mom. Okay, well, then where do you want to put that?
You have to oh, let's putit. No, no, we
can't put it just down. Wehave to find a place for it.
Why don't we have this area dedicatedto just your parents' stuff? And this
area is the max we're gonna putSo we've had to decide, Okay,
what about this? Oh well myfriend gave me that. Okay, but
(37:35):
it's it's kind of ugly. Doyou are you sure you want that?
Yeah? And it's kind of ugly. Okay, let's let's donate it to
Salvation Army. Cool. What aboutthese cassette tapes? Do you listen?
Oh? Yeah, because my CDplayer doesn't work, so okay, so
then let's get a box of cassettetapes, and you're gonna put these in
your car if you're these aren't evenopen, they're not even they're still sealed.
(37:57):
I'm gonna listen to them. Iwill listen to them. Okay,
Okay, she wants cassette tapes. And then Daddy starts sitting down and looking
through pictures. I'm like, honey, no, we cannot look through pictures
right now. We cannot look throughpapers. We're gonna put the pictures on
the papers aside. We are gonnalook through books and magazines. This is
a magazine from nineteen forty one,do you oh, well, you know
(38:17):
I could read through. Okay,we'll put that here, and we're gonna
decide maybe ten magazines will keep.So we're gonna keep only time. Okay.
What about this weird jar thing?Oh? I like to put almonds
in that. It's this is crustythere. I think you can find a
lot of other things to put almondsin. Well, no, I want
that. Are you sure I'm keeping? Okay, okay, find you're keeping
that. What about this box ofcards? What about I mean it was
(38:44):
it was a lot of things, but we actually did a good job.
We cleared a lot of stuff outof there, and I had a good
time, and she was getting kindof triggered at me at one point.
I think she didn't want to stranglemy neck. But you can kind of
breathe in there now little bit.And there's still a lot of work to
be done, and I don't evenwant to think about the office in the
other rooms, but we're kind ofgetting there, and it's tough, and
(39:07):
you know a lot of things that'slike, you know, maybe you don't
really need your dad's ash tray fromback in the day, but this picture
frame. And then also there's justso many picture frames, so many picture
frames, like just there's piles ofpicture frames with pictures in them. So
I'm like, Zaddy, you sitdown on the couch and you take every
single picture out and we're gonna putthem in albums. It's like, well,
(39:30):
this frames, I mean, I'lllisten, like, we're going to
keep the pictures. Some of theseframes are crusted. We can donate them
to Salvation Army. Someone will likethese frames. Maybe, So yeah,
we got through some stuff. Honestly, it's it's fun for me. I
love doing that. What I'm notgonna do is sit down and look through
pictures and look through papers. Imean, Zaddy saying, well, some
(39:53):
of those pictures on my mom andthem I'm I'm like, okay, I
get that, but ninety five percentof them don't. And for you to
sit down and look through all thosepictures is going to take you probably eight
weeks. So I'm not going tobe here and go through pictures and that's
just going to take too long. But we can get rid of all the
other stuff. So we tried.I tried. Tables were cleared, shelves
(40:15):
were cleared in ways were like they'renot at black although with gasas So that's
really good. And honestly, Ican't wait to go back and do more,
even though she probably never wants meto step foot in her house again.
But yeah, we did that andshe didn't fight me, she didn't
physically harm me too much at theend of that, and we're grateful and
(40:36):
thankful that we were able to atleast help a little bit. So we
did that and then just stay Chinesefood for the rest of the night and
then just relaxed and went home.So then the next day we got up
early and we got ready. Wehad breakfast, and then we went to
the Alameda County Fair, which isinsanity to me because I did not think
(40:57):
at all that I was going tobe able to make it this year.
It didn't even not even less thanone percent across my mind that I would
have been able to make the AlamedaCounty Fair. But growing up, my
dad would take us to the AlamadaAlamata Alameda County Fair every single year.
I mean it just multiple days.My dad thrives at the fair and even
to this day, he will goby himself. He likes to take the
(41:19):
duck. The duck likes to go. And it was actually the last day
of the fair on Sunday, andZaddi had booked me a flight out Sunday
night. So we get up andwe go. We meet my dad,
my mom, Steve On, mylittle brother, my brother Junior, the
duck obviously Zaddi's son. And theneven we pick up Grandma, so she
(41:45):
comes with us, and then wealso are going with Zaddi's sister and husband
and all her kids. She hasfive kids, and they're so fun.
There's so cute. It's just aball, like it is just a ball.
There's I mean, yeah, there'slike twenty of us, is it?
There's fifteen of us? Let mecount. Dang, yeah, that's
(42:07):
just that is our immediate family, excluding Amana Pa. That's fifteen of us.
We always we roll deep. Now. Something that triggered me as soon
as I pull up is that mymom and dad are in motor scooters.
And I love my mom, Ilove my dad. I've just really been
struggling with them. And they're eatinghabits, you know, and it's it's
(42:27):
a thing with us, Mikanos,Like we grew up not eating healthy.
We grow up drinking Coca cola, eating bandulses, gayetas, all the fried
foods. It's our Our eating habitsare so bad. And I go to
hang out my parents' house. Theyhave candy everywhere, chocolate's every thewhere,
(42:52):
desserts everywhere. Like they are sounhealthy, borderline diabetic, and they don't
want to eat better and they don'twant to exercise. So when I see
that they both have motor scooters,I'm like, you guys are giving Wally.
Have you seen the Pig Stars Wallywhere it's in the future and all
the humans are so lazy. There'shovering around on hover chairs, sitting down,
(43:15):
eating junk food all day because they'reso lazy. That is my parents,
and I'm so annoyed and I'm soangry at them. And my mom
is making all these excuses about mydad and his knee hurts. I'm like,
why do you think is knee hurts? Why do you think is knee
hurts? My mom is making excusesabout our plantarfesti itis. I'm like,
what do you think? What happenyour plantarfesti itis? And it's honestly,
(43:37):
it's embarrassing. Like also, it'sembarrassing, and I want them to be
healthy. I want them to livelong. I don't want them to have
to be on medications and have totake insulin because they're not eating healthy.
Like my dad is getting bigger thanever, and it just it really sucks.
(43:58):
Every time I see them, it'sgetting worse and worse and worse.
And I try to tell them andI try to bully them. Nothing works.
I am probably harsher than I canbe, but they don't care and
they don't listen. They just makejokes. My dad mocks it, my
mom makes excuses, and it justsucks. And so Zaddy says that I'm
triggered and I'm getting annoyed, andhe tries to tell me to calm down.
(44:19):
The last thing you need to betelling me to do every when I'm
annoyed is telling me to calm downand asking if I'm okay and telling me
that just don't let it bother me. I will calm down on my own.
But it's really troublesome to see themlike that, and it's annoying and
and I hated that, and myand Zaddy like automatically got the hint,
(44:40):
Like as soon as my dad stoodup, Zaddy got into the motor chair
and started using it. And alsoyou're taking away chairs from people that actually
need it. Also, like there'sactually disabled people that need those motor scooters
and they probably can't get them becauseyou guys are lazy and can't walk around.
And yeah, I mean it didn'tlike ruin my day or anything,
(45:04):
but it was. It's just annoyingto see. And I don't know what
it's going to take for them tofinally get the on that that they really
need to start being healthier. I'mnot the most healthy person on the planet,
Like, I will admit that, but I'm not complaining about walking places,
and I'm not considered obese and theyare. And I'm also not borderline
(45:29):
diabetic. I'm healthy for my ageand my way. And it just it's
easier said than done. It iseasier said than done. They don't help
each other, if anything, theysupport each other in these habits, and
it just it's it's hard. It'shard to watch your parents wither away and
like honestly kill themselves, like theyare taking years off of their lives.
(45:52):
And it's hard for me because Idon't have kids yet and I want my
grandparents. I want my parents tobe around as long as they can hand
and just seeing how they treat theirbodies is it's just really harmful. It's
hurtful, like I take it personallybecause of that. Oh gosh, I'm
getting so frustrated just talking about it. I don't know if you've had to
(46:13):
deal with that. I don't knowwhat to do with my parents. Their
doctors have told them so many times. My dad complains about this, my
mom complains about that, and it'sit's it's embarrassing. It's embarrassing and it's
sad, and it hurts. Ithink ultimately, it hurts, like it
feels like they don't care about meand what I want for them. So
(46:38):
that was hard, but you know, automatically we're just hanging out. I'm
just I get so happy just beingaround them. I get I literally feel
like I get brought back to lifebeing around my whole family and just walking
around the fair and having my boyfriendaround and his amazing family and us just
(46:59):
running around looking at everything, buyingfood on food on food, and I
just said, like, oh mygod, like, but that's what you
do at the fair, unfortunately, just get all the nasty food there and
we're just drinking beers and living ourbest lives. The kids, we get
them rist bands. We get ristbands for my nephew and for Zaddie's son,
(47:22):
And automatically, obviously they want toget onto the rides, so they
start doing the rides. I'm kindof like back and forth if I really
want to do the rides or not. I'm just like, do I want
to do the rides? Do Inot want to do the rides. I
see them get on the swings andthen I see them get on like the
second loopy ride, and I'm justlike, I'm not going to stand here
and watch these kids do these rides. This is lame. I need to
(47:42):
get on these rides too, SoI get risk bands for me, Anzaty
and we get on the first one. Oh my god, this man,
this man had me laughing so hardthat my ribs started hurting, and I
think I honestly peed a little bit. We're getting on the ride, like
I can't even really explain it.It doesn't go upside down or anything,
(48:02):
but it zooms up and it zoomsdown aside to side kind of in like
circle patterns, and it kind oflike stays up a little bit and then
falls back down. So that's thefirst ride. That means Zaddy and the
kids do right. And the entireride, the entire ride is making the
(48:24):
like the throw up sounds. Hewasn't actually gonna throw up. He was
just doing it because he saw thatI was making me giggle. And then
I just went into a full laughattack because he just wouldn't stop. Zaddy
is the kind of guy that whenhe sees that like something is making me
(48:44):
laugh, like, he will notstop until I actually pee. And I
was telling him stop, stop, and the more I told him to stop,
the louder he was cudding. Andeveryone on the ride was petrified that
he was actually going to vomit. He was so loud. And we even
get and I I could not handleit, Like it was the funniest thing
(49:07):
to me. And then we geton the second ride, which is like
the crazy mouse Coaster, like thecrazy roller coaster mouse one, which is
my always, my all time favoriterides at carnivals, and he started to
do it again anytime we would godown down a loop. Dude, I
(49:43):
cannot This man never ceases to amazeme with how he just comes up with
new ways to annoy and make melaugh so hard. Bro Okay, So
then we were going into the Hauntedthe you know the Carnival Haunted House.
How terrible it is. Right,So I was taking little duck Alex,
(50:07):
my nephew, on that scary carnivalride since he was like four, right.
But but Zaddy's son, he's notused to rides too much. He
went to Disneyland for the first timelast no, no, no. He
went when he was younger with hisgrandmam, but he didn't go on too
(50:29):
many rides. So he's he's twelvenow, so he went on big rides
for the first time. I believe, I believe allegedly, I think from
what I know from my knowledge,he went on big rides for the first
time last year when we went toDisneyland, so he got on like Guardians
the Galaxy and Screaming and all theIncredible incredib coaster now what it's called.
(50:54):
So that was the first time, you know, he did like big adrenaline
rides and he loved those. SoI'm not too sure about the carnival rides
because Zaddy told me the last timehe took. Yeah, Zaddy told me
the last time that he took theLittle Squirt to the Alliott County Fair that
he was a little too sure andyoung to really get on rides like that,
(51:17):
so he hasn't been since. Sohe hasn't done any carnival rides from
what I know with his dad likethese. So when we got to the
Haunted House one, he was alittle scared and didn't want to do it,
but he didn't realize that it waslame, so he didn't want to
get on. So that specific HuntedHouse ride was just two people, so
(51:38):
me and the duck obviously went ontogether, and then Zaddy was like finding
out I'll just go by myself, and so he got on by himself in
the cart behind right, So meand Alex are going on the haunted house,
and all I start hearing in thecart behind me, which I can't
see. I can't see the cardsa little too far is Zaddy screw at
(52:00):
the top of his lungs for noabsolute reason of fright. That man is
just unhinged. Like whenever I thinkthat I'm crazy and that I'm so extra
and a drama queen and love attention, this man proves me that it's really
(52:21):
it's really him, it really is. And as much as he likes to
call me a pigmy, he forthe plot is also a pick me and
I stan I love He's so entertaining. He is. He is so underratedly
entertaining, which is really funny becausewhen you meet him, and when you
first get to know him, youthink that he's just this so put together,
(52:45):
you know, corporate sales button up, sure, low key, calm
guy. But then he does stufflike that. This is the side that
I'm so thankful and I'm lucky thatI get to see. He's just so
goofy and annoying and loud and crazyand fun like it is. He is
(53:06):
a hoot. He is such ahoot. And me and the Little Duck
Alex are just dying laughing and itwas just so fun. And then we
go off the ride and the littleScore is standing there and with my brother
Junior, and he's like, wasit scary? Was it scary? I'm
just like, no, it's not. You should have gone on. You
(53:27):
should have gone on. And weget on the water ride. Oh my
gosh. We get on the waterride right and on our way to the
water ride, there's ABC seven Newsand they're interviewing someone and I'm just like,
you know, me the clout goblin. I'm like, you guys,
should we got on the news? Are we trying to get on the news?
And everyone's like yeah, yeah, let's do it. So then ABC
seven starts walking away and I askedthem, like, hey, do you
guys want another interview? And they'relike sure, we're asking about the heat
(53:50):
wave and all that. So thenthey get to the Little Duck Alex.
He's the one he did so well. He's like, it's so hot today,
I'm sweat. Look, I'm sweatingbullets. Shoot, I feel like
a melted ice cream right now.He absolutely nails it. They get to
me and I'm like, uh uhuh, like I I don't know.
I was just so nervous, andthey absolutely cut my part out. I'm
(54:14):
sure of it. Like I wasjust so embarrassed. And Zaddy was like,
what is wrong with you? Likeyou did did not make sense when
you were talking. How is itthat you can go on live Fox five
New York multiple times and you talkon the radio and you do all these
things you're on stage from in MadisonSquare Garden, this and that, but
you can't do a live news interviewsegment. I'm just like, I don't
(54:36):
know. I just was not repairly. I was just nervous, Like I
think my brain melted from the heat. And it was so funny and it
was so embarrassing. It was soawkward. They definitely cut my part out.
But we get on the water rideand it's fun, you know,
it's just like a silly log waterride at the carnival. And I started
splashing water on Zaddy and on thelittle squirre his son, but not a
(54:59):
whole bunch of okay, not awhole bunch of water. And then his
son splashes me to oblivion gets waterall on my shoes. And I don't
know about you, but the onefeeling I hate is wet socks. And
I want to I want to justthis little I said, oh my gosh,
(55:20):
squirt you. And then we allstart laughing, except for me.
I'll make still annoyed, and hisZa, his dad just DEFENDSI. He
says, you splashed us first. All of a sudden, it's too much
because you guys splash and your shoeswet, but you splash us first.
I'm like, so then I takemy socks off, I throw them in
the garbage, and I'm like,Zaddy, you need to go find me
socks, or you need to gofind me some flip flops or something,
because my feet are pruned now.And it's five hundred degrees outside and I'm
(55:45):
annoyed. So Zaddy has to runaway on the little scooter and goes finds
me socks. And I'm taking thekids on the rides and whatever, and
it's it's chilled, it's fine,but it's so hot. We go into
the little conventions, you know atthe county fair if they have those big
warehouses with new inventions or things tosell. Week so weak. I don't
know what happened, what's been happeningthis year, But usually I'm excited to
(56:07):
go and see what new inventions theyhave and new things that they're convincing me
to buy. This year, itwas so whack like. I wasn't convinced
to buy anything. I was veryunderwhelmed. I was just sad. And
then they didn't even have the ACblasting like they usually do. What are
the point of us hanging out onhere when the AC is not even blasting
(56:27):
like that? Whatever first world problems? We get out, there's like a
honkey talk. My dad convinces usto line dance, so we're doing the
little one two step. The gotmy older rado vibes. We did that
a little bit, and then wegot on more rides. All the little
kids pulled up, so the littlekids wanted to do rides. But that's
the awkward thing. It's there they'relike seven, six, four, three
(56:49):
and infant, So the seven andsix year old can't really do all the
rides that the eleven and twelve yearolds could do. You know, when
you have kids like them and theyget sad, and then the four year
old's sad because he can't get onthe right with those older brothers and sisters.
It was like it's hard with kidsat that age, but we were
(57:12):
all doing the best that we could, and we kind of just at one
point we let the boys take thekids, and then some of us were
just kind of vibing together. Theultimate of the entire day, obviously,
was the Alaskan Baby pig Races.Ten out of ten. I will go
back just to watch that and thenleave. I love watching the pig races
(57:32):
and just kind of walking around anda getting a whole bunch of junk food
and living our best lives with ourfamilies. My mom said that she loves
being around those babies. All thelittle kids are so fun and so cute
and so good. They're such goodlittle kids. I mean, we're always
still so much in awe of howyou can have it so under control having
(57:52):
five kids, right, because evenhaving one kid is a lot sometimes,
but having five that are all underseven, like seven and under, it's
it could be crazy, but they'reall such good kids. And yeah,
So then the night was coming toan end, and I was just like
I don't want to go home,Like I don't want to go to New
York, Like, I'm having somuch fun with my family, I don't
(58:16):
want to leave at eight pm rightnow for my flight. So I emailed
my boss and I was just like, hey, it's a cool for tentification
day tomorrow. I mean, therewasn't really an option for them to say
no because I was gonna. Iwas gonna stay, but I already asked
my partner at work if he couldhold it down, and he was super
cool. He's like, yah'll bethere tomorrow, don't worry, I'll hold
it down for you. So wegot to Zaddi's house, just me and
(58:42):
the little squirt, and we hangout a little bit, we read one
of his books together, and thenwe have to put him in to bed
because he has swim early in themorning. But then as we're putting him
to bed, I hear this screamfrom his room, and I go over
to see why him and his dadare freaking out, and there is a
gi enormous tarantula in the corner topcorner of his bedroom. And we're all
(59:06):
very one scared, like none ofus have seen in the flesh a spider
this big. It was in sanity, and we're all trying to come up
with a game plan. Zaddy istall, but Zaddy's also scared. Zaddy,
I mean, this is a scaryspider. This is not your average
house spider. Like this looks likeit could fight you and win, and
(59:30):
we don't know if they could jump. We don't know what kind of spider
this Like, this is dead assa tarantula. The butt is so big.
They're scared that there is babies inthere. I've seen a pregnant and
squished a pregnant spider before, haveyou. Yeah, thousands of spiders come
out of that, and imagine thatthat is an actual even worse than that.
So we don't want to technically squishit with a shoe or anything.
(59:53):
We don't really know what to do. We're moving the bookshelf out of the
corner. Then we're kind of I'mtelling the squirt to document all this,
to record it, because obviously thecontent is going to be great right now,
So the squirre is recording this, and then as well, the squore
is recording. The tarantula falls ontothe floor and now we're even freaking out
(01:00:15):
more. We all scream run outthe room. We come back, I'm
like, you know what let's getsome windex or something and just try to
spray it dead. And then zaddi, you can grab it with a towel
and we can throw it outside. But again we're still scared to squish it
because we think it could have babiesbecause the butt is so big. So
the squirt runs and gets he findsAll Purpose cleaner. And I need you
(01:00:40):
to hear just the audio because itwas so funny when the squirre was doing.
He's just such a funny little twelveyear old. You have to hear
this. So this is us juststanding around watching it in the corner,
and it kind of starts walking untilit falls on the floor, and then
the squirt runs and gets the Allpurpose cleaner. My gosh, oh my
(01:01:04):
goodness, that's what it fell. You know. Why don't we spring it
with windows or something so that it'slike lame. Yeah, yeah it.
So he's running, he's running withthe camera. I'm sink cleaning. When
(01:01:43):
I tell you the trauma that allof us were going through in different times,
and this is the scariest thing thatI think all of us have been
through in a house. I've nevernone of us have never seen anything like
that. In a house before orand so we're all equally scared, like
just as much as I didn't wantto kill it, Zaddy didn't want to
(01:02:05):
kill it. And the little squirtwas petrified. So we start spraying it
and it does kind of start beinglimp, but then it it it comes
back to life and that starts crawlingagain. So then we just start dousing
it again, and then Zaddy putsit in a mason jar and then we
take it outside and then he tellsthe squirre to start hitting it with a
(01:02:30):
baseball bat, like to the death. He's like more more, dune again,
dude again, and it's like it'salready squished flat, and Zaddy's just
like I don't care more and more, like he's just luckily it was not
pregnant. It was not pregnant. So the squirt is so scared, like
the baby is. So he's nota baby, he's twelve, but he
is so scared to be in hisroom, like he's nail biding, like
(01:02:52):
doesn't like and I'm just like mean, why don't you sleep in the guest
bedroom. It's gonna be okay,Like you can sleep in the guest bedroom
if there's any spiders, they wouldbe in the corner like that. This
is why I tell you it's importantto keep your room clean and to make
your bed. Sometimes I come inand your bed's not made. You need
to make sure that you're on topof your room because spiders like to be
in messy things. So please,I have had, unfortunately a spider in
(01:03:15):
my room when I kept my roommessy, and I've had one in my
bed before. Please make sure thatyou're doing your bed every day and that
you're putting your clothes away. He'sokay, yeah, yeah. I was
like, all right, let's goto the guest room. Tell me why.
We walk into the guest room andin that same corner there is another
exact tarantula. We're like, noway, there is no way. It's
(01:03:37):
it's actually a living nightmare. Wecannot believe that we're watching another one there.
But by this time, Zaddy's like, I don't care, I'm gonna
get the Mason jar and just trappingin there. And Zaddy was a straight
up savage. He was a savage. Within five minutes, we had that
thing outside and again with the baseballbat, the little is just just nailing
(01:04:01):
that thing with a baseball bat,and then we go inside and me and
Zaddi are getting tucked in bed,and this Court's like I don't feel good,
Like I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do.
And I'm just like, why don'twhy don't you sleep here in our
room and we'll sleep in your roomAnd Daddy's like what Zaddy doesn't want to
(01:04:25):
he doesn't want to sleep in there. He doesn't want to sleep in there.
He's scared too. I'm like,pabe and he's like, squirt,
why don't you sleep in the thein the living room, Like do you
feel okay sleeping in the in theliving room? You were sleeping there the
past two nights with Alex, Likedo you care if you just sleep there
again? He's like okay, LikeI'll sleep there again. I'm I like,
(01:04:45):
I don't think he would want tosleep I offer if he wants to
sleep with us and Zaddy can sleepin the middle, but he's like,
no, it's okay. I feelbad. We have we don't have a
like a big bed or anything. We have just like about regular bed And
he's like no, it's okay,Like I'll sleep on the couch was like,
if you want, you know,we'll sleep on the couch with you.
He's like, it's okay, it'sokay. We feel and then again
Zaddi, he's like, what,I'm fine in my room. No,
(01:05:08):
we're dying laughing. But then wewake the squirt up the next morning for
his swim practice and he says,I feel better. I feel better.
I don't feel scared anymore. LikeI feel good. But we were up
until like unfortunately midnight trying to killthat thing. And for that thing out,
it took us. It took usmaybe forty five minutes one hour just
for the plan of that's just tokill that first spider. Because I'm telling
(01:05:30):
you that Ranchela was the craziest thing. It was definitely a trauma bond moment.
I'm so happy that I was therefor that because I would have had
so much FOMO if I missed thatwhole situation. But we came together and
we did it, and Zaddy isnow no longer afraid of big spiders like
that. He will kill everything. We immediately called the landlord the next day
(01:05:54):
and they said that they had stoppedpest control for a while in between renters,
but that they are going to bringit back because they do know that
it is a problem there, solucky for that. After the Squirts swim
practice, we picked him up andwe were just running around doing errands with
his dad and I got some errands. I ate it out the way,
(01:06:15):
and then towards the end of thenight, we went to my mom and
dad's house to hang out with themfor a little bit, and then we
went to my Nino's house because itwas his birthday and they had mariiacchi and
barbecue and everything. So I wasreally happy that I got to Ali's stay
for that too. And then closerto eight point thirty, Zaddi took me
to the airport. I had toleave everyone. I had to come back
to work to the Big Apple, and then I flew in yesterday morning and
(01:06:40):
I came straight to work. Ihad an interview with Jade from Little Mix,
the huge girl group in the UK. You've probably heard their songs before.
Well they're also alone now and Jadecame out with the new song,
so she came to the studio andhung out with us. So we hung
out with her. And now I'msuper excited because Zaddi is coming in this
weekend because Toronto is having me pullup again. I'm not kidding about my
(01:07:03):
passport, like I really am tryingto get my Toronto passport. But yeah,
we're gonna be working with Air Canadaagain and destination Toronto. So this
time, Zaddie's pulling up and I'mgonna be showing him around, and I'm
so happy that I get to seehim in just a few days. Actually,
tomorrow night, I get to seehim aget tomorrow night, and he's
staying with me for a week, and I I'm so excited to get to
(01:07:25):
be with my boyfriend again for morethan like two nights in a row.
So that is how the past fewweeks have been going. You know how
it is during the summer, Iget really busy, and I've been traveling
and sometimes I have family in towns, so it's a little more difficult for
me to be consistent with you.But I'm so thankful that you're always here
hanging out with me. No matterwhat, I'm happy to pop out another
(01:07:45):
episode for you. We've had thefun pretty past few weeks. My string
of weekends off is gonna come toan end after this weekend, but it's
just been so great and I havesome more fun stuff coming up for you
as well. So thank you somuch again for hanging out on an episode
of A Crystal's Nightcap. Share thepod if you've liked it. We now
are going to get into our dailymotivator. We are just sharing some positivity
(01:08:11):
towards the end of today. Thiswas called a magnificent feast. Those who
live in a beautiful and competent worldare those who invest themselves in beauty and
competence. Those who live in anugly and dysfunctional world are those who fail
to make that investment. Effort.Care, love, generosity, and understanding
are difficult, but they are notburdens. They are opportunities to improve the
(01:08:33):
quality of life. Beauty cannot existwithout someone to appreciate it, support it,
care for it, share it,and advance its desirability. Living to
do so adds immense quality to theexperience of life. Beauty advances life,
and life advances beauty. There isno limit to the heights that such a
collaboration can attain. Do what isgood and write and elegant and beautiful for
(01:08:56):
the sake of itself, instead offighting over meager scrap do the work to
bring forth a magnificent feast. Wow. Effort, care, love, generosity,
and understanding are difficult, but theyare not burdens opportunities to improve the
quality of life. Beauty cannot existwithout someone to appreciate it, support it,
(01:09:18):
care for it, share it inadvance its desirability. Oh okay,
I love that. Just reminding usthat your own life, if you want
a beautiful life, it's really upto us and investing in that and seeing
the beauty, sharing the beauty, loving, caring for it, being generous
with it. And sometimes it's hardto do that, but if we do
(01:09:42):
do that and we practice doing that, it gets easier. And your joyful
outlook is honestly really a practice ofyou making things look joyful, if that
makes sense. I hope that helpedyou and motivated you. Today. We're
going to do our closing prayer. If you feel like it's not your day
(01:10:05):
today to do this with us,it's okay. Maybe next time you'll stick
around to the end. Again.I never want to push my religion or
prayers or anything like that on you. I just want to make sure that
you know that you I loved andanything that you have in a special intention
for I'm giving positivity and energy toanything that you've been hoping for or something
(01:10:26):
that's unsettled that you need some fixing. We're all collectively making sure that you
get that too. So thank youagain so much for hanging out with me,
and I'll see you on the nextone. Now we're going to close
with our book from Sarah Young.I always tell you can find this on
Amazon. I've given so many copiesaway. It helps me every single day.
I read this before my shift hereat work. I have one here
(01:10:47):
at work, I have one athome. I've gotten some for all my
friends that are struggling. So I'mhappy that we get to read this together
when we do hang out. Andif you want to read this daily calendar
of of keeping your life joyful andkeeping God's presence by you again, you
can get on Amazon. It's calledJesus Calling by Sarah Young. Today says
(01:11:12):
relax in my peaceful presence. Donot bring performance pressures into our sacred space
of communion. When you are withsomeone you trust completely, you feel free
to be yourself. This is oneof the joys of true friendship. Though
I am Lord of lords and Kingof kings. I also desire to be
your intimate friend. When you aretense or pretentious in our relationship, I
(01:11:34):
feel hurt. I know the worstabout you, but I also see the
best in you. I long foryou to trust me enough to be fool
of yourself with me. When youare real with me, I'm able to
bring out the best in you,the very gifts I have planted in your
soul. Relax and enjoy our friendship. That's from Revelation seventeen fourteen and John
(01:11:56):
fifteen thirteen through fifteen. When youare real with me and able to bring
you. When you are real withme, I am able to bring out
the best in you the very giftsI have planted in your soul. Relax
and enjoy our friendship. When youare with someone you trust completely, you
(01:12:16):
feel free to be yourself. Thisis one of the joys of true friendship.
I desire to be your intimate friend. You know, sometimes when I
would pray, I would kind offeel embarrassed to pray because I feel like,
Oh, I recently didn't bat badthings, or I feel like too
guilty about sins that I shouldn't bedoing. But the cool thing about when
(01:12:42):
you get close to God, andwhen you get close to Jesus, is
that Yeah, they know everything aboutyou, They know all the flaws and
even you saying those things or admittingthose things, if you really need help
with those sins no matter what,You're always going to be loved no matter
what. And when you think aboutthose things and why you do those things,
(01:13:03):
and how to be better with thosethings and ask for help and just
be honest when you're having your conversationswith God, that is helping you so
much. And also God doesn't wantus to feel bad about those things.
(01:13:23):
God wants us to be honest withthem and wants to help us with those
So the more that we practice havingGod in our presence, talking to God
and we have those tough times, the more we're opening up our hearts to
God, and the easier it isfor God to help us through those times.
I've I mean, thinking of thisis just making me think of how
(01:13:46):
hard I am on my parents andhow I bully them for their health.
And instead of bullying them, I'mbecause Zaddy doesn't like how mean I am
to them when I bring those thingsup. But maybe instead of because bullying
clearly isn't helping and bullying isn't niceand it's not right. Maybe I should
be praying for them. I neverthought of it that way. I'm going
(01:14:09):
to be praying for them now ifyou can help me and pray for my
parents, And maybe people in yourfamily make unhealthy choices that you just feel
like nothing you say can get acrossto them. Sometimes all we can really
do is just let God. AndI feel like, since I'm thinking about
that, like I shouldn't be meanto my parents about their struggles. Like
(01:14:33):
they know their struggles, they knowwhat they're struggling with. I should actually
come to them in a loving wayand tell them that I'm praying for them,
and I should be praying for them, and maybe ask them to pray
for themselves too, because clearly they'rehaving a tough time with that. So
(01:14:53):
I think that prayer helped me.I hope that it helped you. Whatever
your special intention is, I willbe praying for that and asking God to
help you through that. And Ijust want you also to know that you
can let go and you can letGod, and God wants you to be
happy. God wants you to behealthy. God wants everything that's good for
(01:15:15):
you. And God is actually goingto give you everything good for you and
even more like God has done forme and will continue to do for me,
and has done for you and willcontinue to do for you. I
love you so so so much.I love you so much. I'm giving
you a big hug right now.I can't wait to talk to you next.
And I'll see you on the nextone.
