Speaker 2 (00:04):
Here we go back behind the micing, back to work, Marrow,
Courtney Lopez, you're excited to be hanging with you for
the next few hours.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Is it excited to chat with Shine Downs Brent Smith
a little later?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Not only is the band working on new music, but
they're also in the hot sauce business, so I got
to ask about that.

Speaker 4 (00:18):
Plus we'll dig into our mentions to see what's on
your mind. Play a fresh round of mono tune, and
we're just a few songs away from asking a random question.
So turn it up. You're on with Mario and Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Time to put a spotlight on my wife who's itch?
And ask a random question?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
What up?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Mario and Coordo Lopez?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Here?

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Oh God?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Which you got Quarto on?

Speaker 5 (00:38):
A good way to start the week?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I'm not like that one. That's her nickname?

Speaker 6 (00:43):
Mom?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
What you got Quarto?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Would you rather be chronically overdressed or chronically underdressed?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I didn't know you could be chronically anything with fashion,
But it's better always to be overdressed than underdressed, right,
So yes, I would have to go with overdressed, but
we're always underdressed.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Well, because we're in La La.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
It's the tortilla blanket.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yes, in La you can get away with being underdressed,
but outside of La it's considered rup.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Or Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
On with Mario Courtney Lopez and I'm glad spring's finally breaking.
But that also means a beginning a mosquito season in
most of the US. We really don't get attacked by
mosquitos here in California, but we.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Do now a little. It wouldn't I feel like like
we visit my center in huge, nothing like other places.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Those are like Jurassic Park mosquitoes.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
That's huge, the same way in Georgia and stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
It's all it is awful. Next level. Was it like
that in Pittsburgh? No, it's probably too cold, So it's
just the South. Yeah, I think it's just like here.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
For the last few years. There have been some which
I didn't experience any of the first.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Then they don't like me, so even if they're here,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Well, if you get bit, don't scratch it, wash it
with soap and water or even baking soda and water
to minimize the itch. Sometimes I'll scratch so.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
Much ableds Yeah, break it just because it's so.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Exactly well, you don't even realize when you're getting bit.
You only see the bump afterwards, exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
By the way, if you have a Mosquito life aact,
please slide it into our dms over on Facebook at
onl Mario All Mario Lopez about to dig into the
bus because Time Magazine is named the one hundred most
influential people of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
We're gonna come back and break it down after a
few more songs.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Don't move, all Maria Lopez digging into the bus because
Time's one hundred most influential people at twenty twenty five
have just been named.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
On with Mario Hollywood buzz.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
So Time magazine does this every year.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
They named the one hundred most influential people of the year,
and they break it down into six categories. Artists, Icons, leaders, titans.

Speaker 7 (02:47):
How do you differentiate an icon on a titan?

Speaker 5 (02:50):
Well, they do it, No, they do it. You'll see
when I name some of these.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Okay, pioneers and innovators. So who are some of the
people who made the listeners here Frasier?

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Under artists, we have ed Sharon or that Johansson Kristen Bell,
Adam Scott, and Josier who influenced your son?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
That's right, Yes, Okay, that's a good list.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
They have had big years under icons. Demi Moore and
Adrian Brody.

Speaker 7 (03:12):
Okay, Adrian Brody has been on the scene for a while,
but not as long as Demi Moore or maybe I'm
not familiar with it because I feel you do have
to have many years under your belt to achieve icon
statu Yeah, I don't feel like he's been around as
long as Demi Moore like that. I don't think they're
close to the same age. So yeah, it's a little
that's a strange one. But maybe he started when he
was Younger're just not that familiar. But okay, I mean maybe, yeah,

(03:33):
maybe maybe he was a kid actor or something. A
bunch of politicians, President Trump, UK Prime Minister Kurse Starmer,
Mexican President Claudia Shinbaum.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, look at Mexico having the first female president and
Jewish president all at the same time.

Speaker 5 (03:45):
Do you know what number president she is? I do not,
do you? Sixty six?

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Is she really?

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (03:50):
She is, wow, sixty six And I learned that today.
And Trump is forty seven and forty five. Wow, so
Mexico is a lot older, so yeah, it makes sense.
Ore was a lot older of a country, so yes.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Some interesting choices under Titans, Blake Lively interesting, Lauren Michaels
that one kind of makes sense, yes, Serena Williams, Joe Rogan,
Mark Zuckerberg. Some interesting people. The Blake Lively is an
interesting tries that controversial to feathers. I feel like they
did that to get some headlines. Yes, lots of interesting
people under Pioneers, including musician Miles Smith, whose song Stargazing

(04:26):
has been a smash hit on our countdown. All right,
and finally in the Innovator category, two stand out Snoop
Dogg and Nicky Glazer.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Really, Hey, you know what you made the list? Congratulations?

Speaker 5 (04:37):
All right?

Speaker 1 (04:38):
More Mario Lopez coming.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Up, al Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Few more songs that we're gonna chat with shinedowns Brent
Smith just after the top of the hour, band dropped
two songs on US earlier this year.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Including their song three six five, which has been a
huge hit. New album is in the works as well,
and the band is hitting the road. Talking about all
that and more. When Brent Smith joins us now.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Tuber al Mario Lopez joining me right now the lead
singer of the band Shine Down, Brent Smith.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
How's it going, Brent?

Speaker 8 (05:08):
It's going awesome. I feel like you're such a part
of my life.

Speaker 9 (05:11):
Because I'm in a hotel room where I basically live
in hotels anyway. You're always on the lodge net, so
I always see you as soon as I walk in.

Speaker 8 (05:19):
You're like a friendly face everywhere I go.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Well, I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I appreciate that, and hopefully you're not getting Mario overload
bringing it well.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Your new single three sixty five is just blown up.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
It's a song about loss though, right, is that the
backstory on this one?

Speaker 9 (05:35):
Well, I think it's more of a song about the
dynamic of you know, the people that are in our
lives that are no longer physically with us. It's about
understanding that you know, there can be this sadness because
they're not with you anymore, but in reality they're everywhere
like there's still a part of you, and you know.
It is a song about that question of you know,
if you had one more day with that loved one,

(05:56):
or you even had just one more hour with them,
you know, what would you tell them? You know, how
would you say thank you? But it's understanding that you know,
as human beings, there's so much that we deal with
on a daily basis that when we lose a loved
one it can be very traumatic. But you got to
remember that they're always right by your side, They're always
in your heart.

Speaker 8 (06:15):
And that's a lot of what that song represents.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Oh that's beautiful, man, it's so much more.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I want to get to so hey tye a few
more songs and when to come back with Shinedown's Brent.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Getting back to shine Doown's.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Brent Smith, who's hanging on zoom Mario Lopez here and
Brat We were just talking about your new song three
six five, but you also released another one called Dance
Kid Dance.

Speaker 8 (06:35):
It's got a completely different kind of song.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Much much heavier rock. Uh ye jam right there? And
is there a little social commentary going on right there?

Speaker 9 (06:45):
I think anything in Shinedown there's going to be a
little bit of social commentary. My whole thing is always
like I want to be able to talk about things
that sometimes will make people.

Speaker 8 (06:53):
It's not that we're trying to be uncomfortable.

Speaker 9 (06:56):
We're trying to have an open dialogue with each other
so that we can understand one another. I think that
people don't need to stop learning. I also think that
people need to be good to each other. But we
live in and we live in interesting times. My friends
and I think that we have to take care of
each other by challenging one another to you know, I
want to know what someone thinks that maybe doesn't you know,

(07:18):
I might have a different interpretation of that or a
different opinion, but having an open dialogue about it helps
you learn about each other and also gives you maybe
information that you weren't aware of, because you can have
those conversations and shake hands and still be friends and
still have a respect for one another. You don't always
have to agree fully, but in order for us to

(07:40):
move forward, we have to do that as a society.
We have to do it together and respect one another.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
I absolutely agree with you.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
That's a great, great message. You're absolutely right. You got
to have that healthy communication dialogue. All right, Brett, hang
on quick break. We're going to come back with some more.
Brent Smith trying to hang on more.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Mario Lopez Next, You're all.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Mario Lopez got Brent Smith from the band shine Down
on Zoom with us and I know you're working on
your eighth studio album.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Congrats, how's it going. You're almost done?

Speaker 9 (08:08):
So where we're at right now, we've been working on
it for a little over a year and we're probably
seventy five percent finished with it right now. But the
other side of it, too is we're already kind of
constructing what the touring cycle looks like for twenty twenty
six and twenty twenty seven.

Speaker 8 (08:23):
Obviously, we have a tour that.

Speaker 9 (08:25):
We're getting ready to do, but we released two singles
as of right.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
Now, and we are also going to follow that up later.

Speaker 9 (08:32):
On this summer with two more singles nice and then
the announce of the album. We're hoping to be able
to present that this year. But anybody that knows us
knows that, you know, when we're in the studio and
it's time to write a shine Down record, we have
to make sure that it is one hundred percent authentic.
So usually the album will talk to us and let

(08:55):
us know when it's finished.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Yeah, yeah, okay, Okay, we're almost there. It sounds like,
can't wait to check it out.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Brent, hang on for me a little more music when
come back with more Brent catching up Brent Smith from
the band Shine Down this hour.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
What up?

Speaker 3 (09:07):
It's Mario Lopez and you mentioned the tour earlier.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
You're going to be with Bush, Bear Tooth, Morgan Wade
Let's summer tour right there. How do you how do
you pick out a set list with the catalog?

Speaker 8 (09:19):
So our guitar player, Zach Myers is a big part
of that.

Speaker 9 (09:22):
This particular, this is by far the wildest production that
we've ever put together.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
This is definitely we're.

Speaker 9 (09:29):
Pushing the envelope here, just because we're kind of known
for these very theatrical stage performances and the way that
we design certain things. But for the first time ever,
our goal is to make sure every single city gets
a completely different set list every single night.

Speaker 8 (09:46):
So yes, there.

Speaker 9 (09:47):
Will be songs that we have kind of like the
ten that we know. You got to play these ten songs.
You're not going to make it out alive if you do.
If you don't play these ten, so it's the other
ten that you have to kind of construct and you know, throw,
you know, a few curveballs that the audience is always fun.
So really, we just did four full days of band

(10:08):
rehearsal and went through forty one songs. It was a
low and then looking at all that because we have
thirty three singles as a band between seven records, but
it's a lot more.

Speaker 8 (10:20):
You know, you wonder when you go into rehearsal, are
we even gonna remember some of these songs?

Speaker 9 (10:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (10:25):
The thing is that it's kind of like riding a bike.

Speaker 9 (10:27):
The muscle memory is still there, and then there's some
it's like, yo, man, if you're gonna play this, we're gonna.

Speaker 8 (10:31):
Have to practice this. Yeah yeah, yeah, But.

Speaker 9 (10:34):
The goal with the with this particular tour is for
each city to get a completely different set list than
the other.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Oh that's cool, That's very cool and not lazy like it.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
No.

Speaker 9 (10:45):
Yeah, we're just trying to make it as difficult as
we can on our If I'm being honest, how hard
can we make it?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Right?

Speaker 2 (10:51):
By the way, we're gonna get shined Downs tour dates
listed for you up at Onmorrow dot com right hand time,
we're gonna come back with Brent Smith coming up a
little pet I was talking with shineowns Brent Smith this
hour and a couple months back he joined jellywil on
stage and the first responders benefit here in LA You're
saying Leonard Skinner Simpleman together.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
That was really cool.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
And he toured with you guys before, right, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 9 (11:16):
Back in twoenty and twenty one we.

Speaker 8 (11:20):
Did a festival together.

Speaker 9 (11:21):
I had never met him, but I was probably one
of the first fifty thousand views of the song saved
me because I just remember when I saw that for
the first time, I was like, like a lot of people,
I was just enamored by what I was watching and
what I was hearing.

Speaker 8 (11:37):
I was like, who is this? This is completely like unexpected.

Speaker 9 (11:42):
And so in twenty twenty one, we were on the
same festival together and I met him and then I
went in and I asked him. I said, Yo, do
you want to come up and do Simpleman with us tonight?
And he was like yeah, So he came up. We
had an absolute blast. I got his number, and then
towards the back half of that year before the following
year in twenty twenty two, right around January of twenty

(12:05):
twenty two, I gave him a call and I said, listen,
We're going to do this tour in the summer, late
summer in amphitheaters. Is about forty two dates. We'd love
it if you would be main support for this, and
he agreed to it. And I think a lot of
people around the band at the time, you know, there
were people that said to myself and Zach and.

Speaker 8 (12:25):
Eric and Barry, they were like, who is this?

Speaker 9 (12:28):
And I said, you're just going to have to trust
me because this dude is going to get in a
rocket ship in a minute and sky's a limit. Let
me put it to you this way, that dude is
one thousand percent necessary and the world, the world made
the right guy famous.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Oh that's cool to hear, man, that's very cool to hear.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
I'm sure he really appreciates that.

Speaker 9 (12:48):
Hey, now, he's the absolute best man. He is about
as authentic as they come. All of his success and
everything that he's doing. It could not happen to a
more When you talk about the real thing, He's.

Speaker 8 (13:00):
The real thing.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Love to hear those kinds of stories. All right, hang
on, one more thing. I want to ask quick break. I'm
going to come back and wrap it up.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Mario Lopez. We'll be right back.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Wrap it up with Shine Downs, Brent Smith.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Mario Lopez here, and last question, you're still in the
hot sauce business one thousand percent.

Speaker 8 (13:13):
We're doubling down on too. Yeah. Man, it's pretty wild,
to be honest with you, but I got it.

Speaker 9 (13:20):
Here's the thing, Torch Bear and Barry Kirch, Like, Barry
worked so our drummer worked so hard with this company,
Torch Bear. And then so there's three sauces all together.
The one that got the most, the one that's kind
of at the kind of at the top, is the
first one we released, which was the Symptom Sauce, which

(13:43):
is a Chipotle hot sauce.

Speaker 8 (13:46):
But last year it did its We did it the very.

Speaker 9 (13:49):
First the Brooklyn Hot Sauce Convention, which is one of
the biggest ones in North America. That sauce actually took first,
first place, first time ever in the Chipotle catgory.

Speaker 8 (14:00):
And then I think the Devour the.

Speaker 9 (14:02):
Jerk sauce got a third place. And I want to
say the Attention Attention Sauce, which is probably the hottest
sauce of the three, it got an award too. But
you very rarely see a hot sauce first year out
at these conventions get a first place. So, yeah, man,
we've got a lot of stuff coming with the Hot Sauce.
It's pretty remarkable. Actually, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
And first of all, I did not know there was
a Hot Sauce convention. I'm gonna start googling that.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah, that is awesome. Hey, well, congratulations on everything.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
It's always nice to talk to you, Bret, and listen everyone,
Please be sure to check out Shine Downs new music
right now on your iHeartRadio app or wherever you stream music,
and hit upon right dot com for the band's upcoming
tour dates.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Thanks for checking out, Brett.

Speaker 9 (14:46):
Mario, You're the best man. Thank you so much for
giving me the time.

Speaker 8 (14:49):
I appreciate you, my pleasure.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Take care brother, All right, later all Mario Courtney Lopez.
Time to choose your side, t Mario or Team Quardo
because we are just a few songs away from the

(15:12):
return of mono tune, meaning we have to guess songs
based solely on the lyrics being read to us with
little emotion.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
This is tough. We're gonna battle it out in ten
so I'll move.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
All right, talk rid of the pop culture pop quiz
Mario Courtney Lopez here and today it's the return of.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
It's On with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
It's now time for mono tune.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Mono tune.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
So before we get our hands on the buzzers, Fraser,
what is the theme or is there a theme?

Speaker 5 (15:38):
There is a theme. It is basically like throwback spring
break jams. So these are all songs that were played
in spring break back in the day. So on MTVA
Whose day, all of our days, all.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Of our days back in the day when I was young.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
I'm not a My quiz guy put this together and
I told him.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
You guys, okay, let's se how good your quiz got.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
I told him, make sure that everyone knows the songs.
All right, hands on, buzzers. Here's the first one.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
One point for the artist, one point for the song.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Yes, woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo. Ride
that choo choo woo woo. Ride that choo choo woo woo.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
I know this one.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Oh that's my buzzer.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
Oh yeah, you switched them.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Oh so I'm first.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Well she hit it though, So she's first, right now, Yes, so.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Go ahead mine, but we'll try it. Go ahead, come on,
ride the train and ride it.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Come on and ride.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Yeah, what what's what she said? I just said all right,
who's the artist?

Speaker 5 (16:37):
So one point? Who's the artist? Mario? Come on, ride
the train, Come on bye, two Life crew incorrect? Quad
City DJ. I know that Quad City DJ is two
thousand Quad City DJ. One zero? All right, it is mad.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
I'm so mad?

Speaker 5 (16:59):
What is zero? Courtney's winning? Uh? One more in this round?
Here we go check one one two. I came into
this world as a reject. Look into these eyes. Then
you'll see the size of the flame. Rumshaka incorrect.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Oh, come on, starts too.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Then you'll see the size of the flames, size of
the dwelling on the past, go past. It's burning up
my brain. Hot. Everyone that burns has to learn from
the pain. Hey, I think about the day days my
girley ran away with my pay when fellas came to
play play. Now she's stuck with my homies.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Okay, that's enough. Let's see.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
And I'm just a sucker with a lump in my
throat like a chump hey, like a chump hay, Like
a chump hay, like a chump hay, like a chump hay.
No idea, nothing, neither one of you. Do you want
to take a second.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Guess I'll take a second guess neo.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Incorrect, nookie, limp biscuit. That was It's one to zero.
We're going to take a break, come back and do another.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Round two of monaltoon.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
You're on with Mario Lopez, trying to get songs based
solely on hearing the lyrics. The score is currently one
to zero.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
This is tough. Just one in this round. Hands on
the buzzers.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
All right, here we go. I'm just a bachelor.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
I'm just.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Take me to my limit.

Speaker 6 (18:29):
What is it?

Speaker 9 (18:29):
What is it?

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Genuine?

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Then I recognize.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
You?

Speaker 3 (18:38):
What is it?

Speaker 8 (18:40):
I need it?

Speaker 6 (18:40):
I got it. You're done, You're done, You're done. Correct?
You saw it in South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
I'm mad at myself. He'd be jumping his knees.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
His knees are not holding up these days. If you've
seen that video. All right, it's two to one. We're
gonna play some music, come back and do another.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
You're a Mario Courtney Lopez in the middle of a
game of monotune, guessing songs based on an emotionless read
of the lyrics.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Score is is it two to one? Yeah? Yeah, you're winning.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Yes, all right, let's get to the next one hands
on Buzzersky, All right, stop what you're doing because I'm
about to ruin Humpty Dance? Yep?

Speaker 4 (19:24):

event of Carnival. You should know this, Mario. Hello, I've
seen you at Marty Gras before, tossing beads like candy.

Love the pop quizzes, you guys, especially when Mario is
losing hilarious stuff.

Yes, people created so, but the issue is technically you

research after I saw this message to us, and ash
Wednesday is part of Lent.

Correct, so it's before oh correct correct.

Speaker 5 (24:51):
Okay, so considering it. It's part of lent. Yeah, got it.
But so another reason my quiz guy's getting fired.

But the Ash Wednesday sort of stands on its own
because that's when you get the ashes, that's when you
go to mass.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
Yeah, so it's uh, I'm gonna ask, I'm gonna ask
Father Jim right there. But thank you for listening.
