Mario on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Happy Monday, Mario, Courtney Lopez here back behind the mic
and fired up to be hanging with you for the
next few hours. Also going to catch up with a
host of Deal or No Deal Island Joe Manganello a
little later, Plus Courtney and I are gonna be competing
in a pop quiz. We're gonna catch up on the
bus and just a few songs away from Courtney asking
a random question. So turn it up. You're on with
Mario and Courtney Lopez. You're Mario Gordney Lopez. It's put

(00:28):
on our thinking cast for Courtney's a random question. What
you got, honey?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Would you rather go to jail for thirty days or
go to jail with the Rubik's Cube and you can
leave whenever you solve it?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
This might be your most incredible question ever.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
I mean it like it just came to me one night.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I well, can I go to jail?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
And do I have?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
In other words, if I solve it before the thirty days,
I can get it.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, you get out as soon as you solve it.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
But if you don't solve it before thirty you stay
until you solve it.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Oh, see that's no, that's not it. No, no, no, no neither.
No thirty days turn into three.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Years three days you don't get out.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
No, no, you either go for thirty days out or
you go with a Rubic's cube and you get out
when you saw it.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
No, Oh my gosh, no, I would have to well
hold on. If I got to do like some YouTube
tutorials for like a win Prime, if I could do that.
Prior doing that.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
He was collecting rubuks cubes and then going on the internet.
I'm like, that's not how that worked.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
If I got to study and do research, then yes.
Otherwise on my ta.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
If you got to study but not actually try it
until you were in jail, oh gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
No, no, no, honey, you resk. You wouldn't see me
for like a year, you know what.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I'm so sleep deprived right now. I will take it
with ten rubik scubes and I'd have to get to
them all and be.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
No more fun. On the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
So we just wrapped up our latest streaming obsession over
a Costa Lopez. You're on with Mario Courtney Lopez. American Murder.
Gabby Potito was all over the news and social media
a few years back, right around COVID twenty one. Yeah, yeah,
and so tragic. It's all real footage that was used.

(02:12):
Gabby was a blogger and she was documenting her time
living out of a van, traveling the country with her boyfriend,
and then she went missing. Boyfriend came back like nothing
with her van. The parents harbored this fugitive because he
was basically a fugitive. Why they didn't get arrested, I

(02:34):
don't know, because there was disruption of justice harboring a fugitive,
like I said, And they eventually found him and he
committed suicide. But the footage is pretty compelling and it's
really really sad. I was upset with the parents at first,
and I thought about it, and I'm like, you know, what, what.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Would you do if that were your son?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Clearly they knew what was going on. They should have
like escaped, went to another country, started their whole life
his own.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Damn, you're going down that route.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Well, otherwise it's inevitable by the time he gets just
a matter of time before he got caught.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
And that's what happened, right, That's true. I mean I
did put myself in their position. Being a parent, and yes,
where I would definitely have my child's back one hundred
and ten percent. I would also want him to do
the right thing if the shoe was on the other
foot and I needed to know where my child was,
I'm still going to love him. If he commits that crime,

(03:26):
he gets that from your side of the family, not mine.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
He commits there, it comes from the low Paz side.
He commits that crime, he's going to prison forever.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I know, but you can't commit a crime.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
I know you can't. But but that's why.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
You imagine if someone did that to our child.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
No, I know.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
It's also it's crazy too that Brian the boyfriend was
able to get out of that house, even though the
people were camped out around it, the media was, cops were,
and he got away.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
And he ended up taking his own life. And at
first I thought, well, those parents should suffer some sort
of consequences that I'm like, you know what, we should
just move on from this tragic tale.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
More Mario Lopez coming up?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
What up Mario Courtney Lopez? Here, let's put a spotlight
on my wife and it's time for Courtney's random thought.
What do you got you guys?

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Does every sentence need to include a vegetable? Not necessary?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Oh my gosh, that was cute. That's a good mom joke.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I'm gonna say to the kids when I pick him up.

and apparently traveling NonStop. We're going to see what that
out t all about when he joins us next, it's
y bry Al Mario Lopez joining right now on Zoom
actor and now, ho is mister Joe Manganello? What's going on?

Speaker 7 (05:37):
Man?

Speaker 6 (05:38):
Hey man? You know something about being an actor and
a host.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah, yeah, a little bit, A little bit. I'm trying
to figure it out before we get into that. We
were just chatting. You told me you were gone how
many weeks out of the last year.

Speaker 7 (05:49):
After calculating, I was on the road forty three weeks
out of last year, which puts me home for nine.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
That is that is insane. How did you like that?
Was it all work?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Pleasure?

Speaker 6 (06:01):
For a lot of it was work?

Speaker 7 (06:04):
Or you know, if you've got to be somewhere for work,
then you build in some extra time to jump off somewhere,
you know. Yea, So it was a little bit of both.
But yeah, no, I mean it's it's great. I mean
it well for me, it meant that like work was
back in full swing after you know, after COVID, after strikes, after.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
You know, these things that it was just a big
full year which was fun.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Nice. Did you have a favorite location?

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Gosh, yeah, I mean Cape Town, South Africa is unbelievable.
I made a pilgrimage back to Armenia where my great grandmother,
where my great grandmother and that that lineage on my
mother's side really from so I went and I saw that,
which was which was really important.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Wow, I did not know that. All right, learning a
lot today. All right, Joe hanged tight. I want to
talk a little Deal or No Deal Island quick break.
We're gonna come back more with Joe.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Al Maria Lopez catching up with Joe Mangonelo this hour,
and we were just talking about hosting You're of course
hosting Dealer No Deal Island. Are you enjoying that world?

Speaker 6 (07:10):
I love it? I love it, man, It's the greatest.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
What you think?

Speaker 7 (07:13):
You know, It's like it was tricky for me because
you know, I think that some of the projects, the
types of things that I was doing, like you know,
like like you you stay in that lane, you know
what I mean, Like like moving into hosting is moving
into an entirely new lane, you know, And and so
I was hesitant for many years to do it, but

(07:34):
I'm so glad that I did the right The right
job came up for me, and I'm so glad that
I did it because it's like the show was made
for me and I I really do love it.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, Joe Maganelo hanging out with us on Zoom this
Hour or al Maria Lopez talking Deal or No Deal Island. Now,
for those who may not be familiar with it, Dealer
or No Deal Island, is it essentially Dealer No Deal
Meat Survivor somewhat?

Speaker 7 (08:01):
Yeah, I mean you could throw in a little fear factor,
maybe a little wipeout, you know. There there's there's elements
of other games. It's a bit of a hybrid in
that way, you know, kind of postmodernist, you know game.

Speaker 6 (08:13):
But but I mean the money is humongous.

Speaker 7 (08:16):
Yeah, and and yeah, fans of the original Deal or
No Deal will love it because there are lots of
elements of that. But yeah, there are there are elements
of Survivor, but it's it's more strategic and and definitely
all of the social game that that that people Love
from Survivor.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
That's fine, that's fine. Your location for that as well.

Speaker 6 (08:36):
We're on location on the on the banker's private Island.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Yes, okay, congrats on that man. All right, hang on
a few more songs and we're going to come back
with Joe. Catch it up with Joe Manganello, Mario Lopez.
You're been talking Deal or No Deal Island. But you
also got a new comedy coming out on Netflix, film
called Nonas Cool. Cast to Vince Wan, Susan Sarandon. What's
this one about?

Speaker 7 (09:00):
It's based on a true story. There's a restaurant in
Staten Island that was started by a man whose mother
passed away, and in honor of his mother and also
his grandmother who had recently passed away, he started a
restaurant where he went out and recruited Italian grandma's to
work the kitchen.

Speaker 6 (09:21):
So when you go to the restaurant, your food is.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
Being cooked by an Italian grandma like grandma used to cook.
You know, Grandma's cooking for you. And so that restaurant
still exists in Staten Island. Vince Vaughn and I played
best friends in the film. We actually went to the
restaurant in Staten Island and like we're greeted with a
twelve course Italian meal. I mean, and met the guys

(09:44):
that were playing in real life.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Oh that's cool, that's cool. Are they quick with it
because grandma is taking her time cooking? How's that turnaround?

Speaker 6 (09:53):
No, man, they're moving it out.

Speaker 7 (09:54):
I mean, there was so much food on the table
that whole shoot, it was like, you know, twelve course
meals four times a week.

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Oh day, it was the whole cast went out to eat.

Speaker 7 (10:05):
It's Vince and I, Susan Saranda, like you mentioned Lorraine
Brocco from Goodfellas's Kalia Shire Yo, Adrian love It obviously,
Connie from goodfellow from from Connie from the Godfather. Then
you get Frenda of Acro from Midnight Cowboy, Drea de Matteo, Carlini,
lots of people with vowels at the end of their names.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Yeah, oh that's cool, and I kind of flick congrats
on that.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
Vincecreat all about Italian food and it's great.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
All right, one more thing I want to ask quick break.
They're gonna come back and wrap it up with Joe Maganella.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
You're the full interview now on with Mario Doug More,
Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Wrap it up with Joe Maganella. You're all Mario Lopez
and before you go, man I saw. You're also starring
in season two of the Netflix series One Piece. That's
the one about pirates, right.

Speaker 6 (10:51):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Are you a pirate?

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Oh, I'm like one of the most notorious pirates in
their cannon? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Now is this forgive Me for Nino? And is this
pirates like pirates are the care being kind of pirates
or like the Smali pirates? What's going on? What kind
of pirates are we talking?

Speaker 7 (11:06):
So it's it's based on the most popular Japanese manga
and anime of all time. So there's twenty six years
of manga, the comic book, and then there's like thirteen
hundred episodes of the anime, the cartoon, and it's you know,

(11:26):
it's a fantasy world where where it's almost like a
serialistic painting, where like things are things kind of like
remind you of other things or things in our world,
but they're not, And there's it's just a mixture. There's
you know, there's there's a bit of like Caribbean pirate,
European pirate.

Speaker 6 (11:46):
But it's then there's a neon sign.

Speaker 7 (11:48):
Then there's like steampunk elements, you know, like I control
these alligators that have these growths out of their heads
that look.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Like bananas, all the banana gators, you know. So it's
a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Congrats on everything, brother, listen everyone, be sure to check
out season two of Deal or No Deal Island, airing
Tuesdays on NBC and you can stream it on Peacock
as well. Chill, thanks for checking in, man, all right man?

see what's on your mind. Love, hearing from you, questions, comments,
whatever you got. Who's this from, honey?

Speaker 3 (12:54):
This is from at Emily Kme And she said, has
anyone ever considered that millennials aren't aging? Because those kool Aid, jammers,
lunchibles and Flintstone vitamins have preserved us.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
First of all, that is a gen X thing. That
a millennial thing. That is a gen X thing. So
don't try to take our vibe because we were all
about kool Aid, lunchables in Flintstone. Maybe the jammers are millennial.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
I don't really know what that is, but kool Aid
was definitely us.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
We also had crazy. We were huge on kol Aid,
we were huge on Flintstone vitamins. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
It was us.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
We're more gen X than we are millennial. No, we're
right on that edge. We're eighty one. No, but we
don't fall into the millennial thing. There's like a weird category,
like in between, what.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Are those people that are born on the leap eer call?

Speaker 5 (13:38):
Yes, we're like the leaper weirdo weird more.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Mario Courtney Lopez more music on the way, but wanted
to quickly mention this. I've heard of a lot of fears,
but this one is pretty out there. More you sect usephobia.
It's an intense fhere of ketchup. Oh and it's no joke.
For some people, literally just the side of ketchup can
send them into full panic mode. One woman says it's
like being held at gunpoint.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
It's funny because I'm actually picking on something right now
with ketchup.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
I've never heard of this.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
And I just looked at it and didn't have a react.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
And I'm frozen in fear.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yes, Al, Mario Courtney Lopez about to head home for
the night. Just got to squeeze in one last thing,
