Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mario fun with Mario Lpez.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
What's up your on Mario Lopez joining me right now
on Zoom My friend Candace Cameron Beret. How are you,
Candace good?
Speaker 1 (00:11):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
I'm well? Always nice to see you. I can't believe this.
This caught me by a surprise. You were just revealed
as the cherry blossom on the latest sing on the
latest season of The Mass Singer. Uh wow, I didn't
even know you sing and stuff? How'd you end up
joining the show? Were you fan?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
I don't sing?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
You don't sing? That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
It was so scary to do that show like I had.
I really did have fun. I'm really glad that I
said yes. But they'd asked me four times to do it,
and I said no three times because I'm not a singer,
makes sense, but I yeah, I just decided to take
the leap of faith and do something that scared me
because I always tell my kids. I don't know if
(00:53):
you tell your kids this, but I'm like, if something
scares you makes you nervous, say yes to it because
it's like a growing point, you know, get yourself out
of your comfort zone and you'll have way more confidence
than next time something that scares you comes around, and
so I had said no three times and I was
finally like, I need to take my own advice because
(01:14):
I tell my kids this and so I need to
do it.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
That is great and that is solid advice, and glad
you did it. Funny you went with a little Jennifer Lopez,
you saying, let's get loud, and that's really your first
time I ever singing. Huh yeah, really, yes, I had.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
So I had taken some singing lessons last year.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
I remember you were telling me. I remember you were
telling me that coach, but I.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Can teach anyone to sing if you don't know how
to sing. And I didn't really believe her, and she said,
I'll give you lessons, and so I took lessons for
like six weeks from her. And while you know, I'll
never be Kelly Clarkson, she did give me some tools
where I felt more confident. And I know I can hear.
I can hear music like I haven't ear, but I
(02:01):
just I don't have any training in my vocals. So she,
Tara gave me enough confidence to be able to go
on the show and like, you know, let's get loud.
It's such a fun song. It was carnival theme and
you know that song. As far as as the notes go,
it's pretty simple. So I felt like, Okay, I can
(02:21):
do this.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Good for you. Good for you, that's awesome. I also
want to talk about a new kid's book you have
coming out soon called The Crazy Compromise, and it's got
a bit of a faith based element in it, right. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
So these I'm I'm part of a group of books
called the Generous Family Kids Book Club, and I co
authored a book with them. They're so fabulous. They're such
fun stories with all these fun little characters, and all
of them have They're all about today's morals, like teaching
your kids, don't lie, don't cheat, It's okay to be
(02:59):
friends with someone who doesn't think like you or look
like you. Let's be kind, let's be generous. It teaches
all these great values, which are all Biblical values. But
you know, but it's not a Bible story. It's just
really fun characters. So I co authored a book with
them called The Crazy Compromise, which is based on my
(03:20):
own friendship with my best friend who looks different than
I do. We have different faiths and we have different
political views. So while we don't talk about those things
in the book, we talk about two little characters. I'm
Candy the Chameleon, and she has a best friend, Kiki
the Koala, and we're rooting for different sports teams, but
(03:43):
we're best friends. And we go head to head like
we get mad at each other, and then we realize, what,
but I love you, Like, why am I not going
to be friends with you just because we're rooting for
different teams? And it's okay. So it's those kinds of values.
And that book's available now. There's so much fun.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Congratulations on that, and that's such an important, important book,
by the way, not only for kids. A lot of
adults can learn from that as well. And I too
have a friend that on the complete different side, and
we're always kind of friendly, going back and forth. At
the end of the day, still friends. And that's the
way it should be. You should be able to have
a healthy dialogue and still respect one another. You also
(04:21):
have another installment coming in your Ainsley McGregor Mysteries on
Great American Family. What can you tell us about that?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah? So we yeah, I have a new one coming
out in the spring called The Case for the yarn Maker.
So if that's going to be on Great American Family
Channel and Great American Pure Flicks, and I just finished
filming a third installment of that, so we're gearing up
on the mysteries.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Awesome. Congrats on that. Speaking of Great American Family, I'm
looking forward to getting started on another holiday flick where
I'll be shooting in Buffalo, New York.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Yes, I'm excited for you. I wanted to shoot the
one I'm doing now. We wanted to shoot there, so
you're gonna have to tell me all about it.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, I mean I had been before. I remember it
was very cold, which bodes well for a holiday film.
Wasn't far from Niagara Falls. Chicken wings are good. You
have a good sandwich. I'm sure that people will be
very nice, all the important things, all the important things.
So no, I'm looking forward to that and a great
relationship with them. With their We're having a lot of fun.
(05:24):
Congratulations on everything. This is so cool to hear that
you were part of the show and everyone listen. Be
sure to catch season thirteen of The Mass Singer Wednesday
nights on Fox. Candice, thanks so much for checking in.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
