Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fun with Mario A little bit sober Mario Lopez joining
right now on Zoom actor and now, oh, mister Joe Manganello,
what's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Man?
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Hey man? You know something about being an actor and
a host.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Yeah, yeah, a little bit, a little bit. I'm trying
to figure it out before we get into that. We
were just chatting. You told me you were gone how
many weeks out of the last year.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
After calculating, I was on the road forty three weeks
out of last year, which puts me, you know, home
for nine.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
That is that is insane. How did you like that?
Was it all work pleasure?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
For a lot of it was work or you know,
if you've got to be somewhere for work, then you
build in some extra time to jump off somewhere, you know. Yeah,
so it was a little bit of both. But yeah, no,
I mean it's it's great. I mean it well, for me,
it meant that like work was back in full swing
(00:53):
after you know, after COVID, after strikes, after you know,
these things, that it was just a big full year,
which was fun.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Did you have a favorite location?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Gosh, yeah, I mean Cape Town, South Africa is unbelievable.
I made a pilgrimage back to Armenia where my great
grandmother where my great grandmother, and that that lineage on
my mother's side really from So I went and saw that,
which was which was really important.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
So are you Italian Armenian?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
So my father is Sicilian, British and Irish and African,
and my mother is Croatian. My mother's half Croatian, the
other half is German Armenian.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Huh okay, okay, little little DNA of my mom.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Took a lot of Armenian food for me growing up.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
So a lot of the things I ate, like culturally,
I you know, I grew up with a lot of
Armenian things.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Wow, I did not know that, all right, learning a lot.
Today we were just talking about hosting.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Are you enjoying that world? Are you enjoying that space?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
I love it? I love it, man, It's the great.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
What you know, It's like it was tricky for me
because you know, I think that some of the projects,
the types of things that I was doing, like you know,
like like you you stay in that lane, you know
what I mean, Like like moving into hosting is moving
into an entirely new lane, you know. And and so
I was hesitant for many years to do it, but
(02:22):
I'm so glad that I did the right The right
job came up for me, and I'm so glad that
I did it because it's like the show was made
for me and and I I really do love it.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Now, for those who may not be familiar with it,
Dealer or No Deal Island, is it essentially Dealer No
Deal Meat Survivor somewhat?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, I mean you could throw in a little fear factor,
maybe a little wipeout, you know. There, there's there's elements
of other games. It's a bit of a hybrid in
that way, you know, kind of postmodernist, you know game.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
But but I mean the money is humongous.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah, And and yeah, fans of the original You or
No Deal will love it because there are lots of
elements of that. But yeah, there are there are elements
of Survivor, but it's it's more strategic and definitely all
of the social game that that that people love from Survivor.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
That's fine, that's fine in your location for that as well.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
We're on location on the on the Banker's private Island.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Yes, okay, okay, And.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
We actually have a during season one which aired last year.
We had Boston Rob Mariano, who people know from Survivor fame.
He competed in the first season, and in the second
season we have Parvety Shallow, the Black Widow, another Survivor
champion competing, and we also have a Survivor Champion from Australian.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Survivor, which is its own separate universe. And we have
a Big Brother Champion.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
So if you like Big Brother, doctor Will Kirby is
back causing mayhem.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Some savvy veterans right there, they know how to play
the game. All right, we'll have to check that out. Well,
congrats on that man. Meanwhile, you got a new comedy
coming out on Netflix film called known as Cool.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Cast to Vince Wan Susan Sarandon, what's this one about.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
It's based on a true story.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
There's a restaurant in Staten Island that was started by
a man whose mother passed away, and in honor of
his mother and also his grandmother who had recently passed away,
he started a restaurant where he went out and recruited
Italian grandma's to work the kitchen. So when you go
to the restaurant, your food is being cooked by an
(04:31):
Italian grandma, like grandma used to cook, you know, grandma's
cooking for you. And so that restaurant still exists in
Staten Island. Vince Vaughan and I played best friends in
the film. We actually went to the restaurant in Staten
Island and like we're greeted with a twelve course Italian meal,
meaning it met the guys that were playing in real life.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh that's cool, that's cool. Are they quick with it
because grandma is taking your time cooking? How's that turnaround? Man?
Speaker 3 (05:00):
They're moving it out.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
I mean there was so much food on the table
that whole shoot, it was like, you know, twelve course
meals four times a week. Oh day, it was the
whole cast went out to eat. It's Vince and I,
Susan Saran and like you mentioned, Lorraine Brocco from Goodfellas,
Kalia Shire Yo, Adrian love it obviously, Connie from goodfellow
(05:22):
from from Connie from The Godfather. Then you get friend
of a Caro from Midnight Cowboy, Drea de Matteo, CARLINI,
lots of people with vowels at the end of their names.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah, Oh that's cool, man. I kind of flick congrats
on that.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Vince great all about Italian food and it's great.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I love that. I love that. That's that's got to
be the tallest cast too, with you and Vince.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Well, yeah, the joke was that, like, obviously we're not
full blooded Sicilian, you know, we're mixed with something.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, you gotta have a little Croatian in there, So
I'm going on exactly. You're also starring in season two
of the Netflix series One Piece, that's the one about pirates, right.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, that's right, are you?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Oh, I'm like one of the most notorious pirates in
their canon.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Yeah, Now is this forgive me for not know?
Speaker 1 (06:06):
And is this like pirates, like pirates are the care
being kind of pirates or like the Somali pirates?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
What's going on? What kind of pirate are we talking?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
So it's it's based on the most popular Japanese manga
and anime of all time. So there's twenty six years
of manga, the comic book, and then there's like thirteen
hundred episodes of the anime, the cartoon, and and so
it's it's in this kind of fantastic world where anything goes.
(06:37):
So it's you know, it's a fantasy world where where
it's almost like a serialistic painting where like things are
things kind of like remind you of other things or
things in our world, but they're not, And there's it's
just a mixture. There's you know, it's it's it's almost
like medieval or kind of like a medieval but like
(07:01):
you know, there's there's a bit of like Caribbean pirate,
European pirate, but it's then.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
There's a neon sign.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Then there's like steampunk elements, you know, like I control
these alligators that have these growths out of their heads
that look like bananas, the banana gators, you know. So
there's it's a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Now not some Ali pirates. You want, you want to
take some shrooms and trip out on this one right here,
I saw it. X.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
You're trying to book Metallica to play the halftime show
next year in the Bay Area.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
I'm down for that.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Let's get some metal, dude. It's time.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
It's some people playing real instruments, some people singing live.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Let's go come on down with that. I'll be down
with that.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
I love that they area. We just need the Chargers
to play. I'm sorry about the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Although although you know, the Steelers had a good season.
Actually they had a good season. They just in the
playoffs obviously didn't get it done. But I think both
our teams are trending in the right direction.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
We had a five game losing streak in the regular season,
like we we ended the season pretty badly.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Were but up until then, you were, you were doing
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Well, yeah, we're shenning three and then no, it's not
for us. It's not okay.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
It's not okay to skid the last five games and
that de royed by a division rival in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
It's not okay.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
That's not acceptable.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
The same the same show every year. So hopefully next
year we'll come out and break that cycle.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
I know.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Man, at least the Chiefs went down, so I'm happy
about that. Congrats on everything, brother. Listen, everyone be sure
to check out season two of Deal or No Deal Island,
airing Tuesdays on NBC and you can stream it on
Peacock as well.
Speaker 4 (08:41):

Speaker 2 (08:42):
In, Man, Thanks Man, you'd be good on the show.
You should apply on your show.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Yeah, I'm down.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
There's a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (08:50):

Speaker 3 (08:50):

Speaker 4 (08:52):
